"I'll catch up with you. I'm going to go change my shirt, I worked up a bit of a sweat."

Nivah's mind seems to mull over the idea of you shirtless for a split second and her face reddens once more. She quickly nods her head and scampers off. You take a moment to consider your next course of action. You cannot risk having the journal on your person during training, if you were confronted with it on your person you are unsure of what might happen, but you are certain it would not be good. While you make your way back to the Academy an idea pops into your head. The rafters of the dorm. There was certainly enough room up there to stash the journal and from what you know they go virtually untouched, aside from some minor cleaning or when used for maintenance.

You quickly make your way to the dorm, and after ensuring that there is nobody inside you force jump up into the rafters and hide the journal in the rafters above Rodrik's bunk. Just in case. You change clothes quickly, because in truth you did work up quite a sweat with Nivah and you would prefer not to smell during training. Quickly you make your way out into the hall and on your way to Master Jorrak. While en route however a figure steps in front of your path. Cael'la, the Chiss woman.

>What do you do?

You raise a brow and glower slightly at her, choosing not to give anything away by speaking rashly. There is silence for a moment, and you could swear those few moments lasted an eternity. Finally she spoke, with a slight accent that reminded you of the Chiss who you worked with in the mines. Her voice was smooth like silk, but there was a subtle bite to it, like a carnivorous flower that lures you in with it's beauty before striking.

"I would speak to you, after the training session is complete. Alone. I will know if you tell anyone, and the meeting will not occur. In front of the Academy while everyone is eating. Do you agree to these terms?"

>What do you say?

Remember, she's some highborn noble chiss and we're just a slave that happens to appear proficient thus far - she has no reason to be setting us up for some master assassination this early, especially if she views us as a potential powerful ally.

We might get a chance to kill her and a few weaklings or work out some sort of power compact.

Even if she was under our master, one student from each class surviving to graduate is a tradition, but not a mandate. I'd rather see us break tradition by forging the third, forth, and fifth best students in Jorak's class into a close-knit team. Second Best (Rodrik) dies, of course, but the rest of them succeed and form a competent cabal.

"I will go, but I will be armed"

For the first time since you've been in the Academy Cael'la displays a visible emotional reaction. She smirks. It's condescending, approaching cruel.

"My dear, you would have to be an idiot not to."

She turns fluidly on a heel and makes her way toward the force training room. Choosing not to waste time, you quickly follow and enter Master Jorrak's door. Master Jorrak motions for you to approach him near the front of the class. A few other apprentices eye you suspiciously, however nothing is said. You approach, slightly confused.

"Now that you're all back we shall give you your first experience with the antithesis of the force push. The force pull. The pull requires much more precision than the pull, especially if you have every intention not to gut yourself. Now I will say this once and only once. NEVER try to force pull your vibroblade while it is still activated. Lightsabers are light, and easily manipulated. Vibroblades become large spinning wheels of death when you involve the force. For our example, we will be having Mister Xanth attempt to force pull that saber replica. It possesses the same weight and dimensions of a standard saber."

Master Jorrak nods, his signal for you to make your attempt.

Emotions that Xanth feels more will be easier to channel, while rarer emotions will be more difficult.

You notice that a few more of the test sabers have been layed out for other apprentices to practice on and you feel a slightly devious smile grace your lips. You close your eyes and channel the most potent emotion you can grasp currently. Joy. Joy for freedom, for friendship, for respect and for the ability to enjoy a damned meal that doesn't taste like fucking mud. You open your eyes and as easily as a child breaths you will two of the replica saber hilts into your palms and twirl them effortlessly. You hear a few whispers and one pair of hands clapping furiously. You don't even need to turn to know that it's Nivah and your smile widens. Master Jorrak shakes his head and you, but he is wearing a wide smile.

"Alright, alright quit showing off and put the hilts back. The rest of you lot don't get cocky like Xanth. If you do you might smack yourselves in the face."

You place the hilts back where they belong and stride back into the crowd. Nivah is there to meet you, eyes big with wonder.

"Gosh I am so lucky I sat next to you on the transport."

Most of them spend too much time worrying about being killed.

You decide it's a good idea to simply smile and shrug instead of attempting to say anything charming or witty. Best not to spoil a good moment.

"I'd like to go next if you don't mind Master."

Rodrik's voice causes a knee jerk reaction from you and you turn your heard sharply to get a look at him. He swaggers up next to Master Jorrak and it takes every fiber of your being not to roll your eyes. Well eye. You can't really roll your cybernetic eye. You can make it whir disapprovingly however so you throw that in just on principle. After a bit of flourish and showmanship Rodrik summons... three sabers. Two enter his hands almost as easily as they entered yours. The third however is flying right for your face.

>What do you do?

>Try to catch it

To be honest I feel like it would be even better if Xanth was just kinda like "Aw. My first girlfriend... Oh well, I'm a Sith now. I can get more and then some." Then just skip off to get more fine food, revenge against dicks, and pussy soaked.

Damn it feels good to be a Sith and not a fucking slave.

Everyone in the room practices now by how well they push one at Rodrik. New school tradition.
>>
>>37369222

Your smirk. With an almost unnoticeable flick of the wrist you deflect the hilt back toward Rodrik, and as he turns to see what damage he seems to believe he'd done to you he is greeted by the hilt smacking him sharply in the face. Unfortunately it does not hit him hard enough to do anything interesting like break his nose. It does however send him reeling.

Several of the other apprentices laugh, including a few from the other Masters' classes. Rodrik's face twists in rage and he looks you dead in the eyes.

"Rodrik, I might suggest you not take on more than you can control yet. Like Master said, don't show off."

Rodrik's lips part to speak but before he can Master Jorrak's voice cuts through the hall.

"Indeed Mister Rodrik, it would have been very unfortunate if your inability to control your sabers had resulted in anyone getting injured."

The look on your Masters face tells you he knows full well Rodrik intended to hit you, but as he cannot prove it Rodrik cannot be punished.

"Whose next?"

Nivah turns to you and tilts her head in confusion.

"He did that on purpose right? Why does Rodrik hate you?"

"He thinks less of me because I was a slave and doesn't want me to succeed. Watch out around him, if he is as petty as I think he is, he might try something against you to get to me, so be careful."

Nivah's face suggests that she had not considered that possibility. For a moment a shadow of worry crosses her face, but she looks up at you and it seems to pass. It seems she sees your friendship as more important than whatever potential threat Rodrik may posses to her. Rodrik stalks past you with a glare that could kill, but makes no move against you likely for fear of further humiliating himself. Surprisingly Nivah glares at him as he passes and her gaze holds an intensity you did not think she was capable of. Rodrik also seems caught off guard by her gaze and stumbles slightly as he passes. You resist the urge to chuckle.

The rest of the lesson passes with little in the way of excitement. You perform a few more times just for the sake of passing the time, and Master Jorrak give a few more pointers concerning control and pulling through and around obstacles. By the time the lesson is over it is getting late. You have time to eat and socialize before you go back to your dorm and head to bed. Your meeting with Cael'la was meant to occur now.

You chose to go and meet Cael'la without telling anyone. It's clear she wants to discuss something privately and getting Nivah involved could make things more complicated than they need to be. You make your way to the entrance of the Academy which is abandoned what with everyone eating dinner. Cael'la is not there when you arrive. You remember specifically that she told you to meet here immediately after the lessons.

You consider your options, and after assessing that your life is worth more then appearances or politeness you chose to hide behind one of the massive statues that flank the entrance of the Academy. As you prepare to hide however you hear a laugh, it is melodious but harsh. You turn to find Cael'la stepping out from behind a nearby pillar.

"You have good instincts. Always be cautious. You have nothing to fear from me my dear, I was merely curious as to how you would react."

You regard her cautiously as she holds her hands up as a sign of non-agression. She is armed as you are however her blade is sheathed. It appears that she will not speak until you put your weapons away.

You sheathe your blades and regard Cael'la with a cold silence, doing everything within your powerful to remain neutral and emotionless. This woman is likely the most dangerous apprentice you have encountered. Rodrik was a pain, but he was easy to read and even easier to outmaneuver. Cael'la however was an enigma, even after your attempt at espionage. She smiles at you in a way that send a chill down your spine but you manage to maintain your unshaken demeanor.

"I will make this simple. I have been observing you, as well as every other apprentice of any worth in this Academy. You are unrefined, worthless pebbles you spent your life digging up, however anyone who has a functioning set of eyes can see you hold remarkable talent. I am looking for allies. I had considered Rodrik, but he is a blustering fool who seems to believe that his father's influence reaches beyond the starship he commands... but you. You are cautious yet savage. A beast given mortal form, and I must say, I like it. We have different Masters, which means as far as I am concerned you are no threat to my potential as a Sith, so I have a proposition for you."

She speaks quickly and with clear intention, similarly to how O'Malley would speak when he would address you as a child. You get the feeling that if she was not military herself she has spent a great deal of time around military personnel.

"I watch your back. Make sure that nobody under Master Jorrak gets any funny ideas. If they do, I either tell you, or I deal with it myself. In return you do the same for me."

>What do you say?

>If I refuse?
>Not what I expected when I was called out here, but I can get behind it.

"Not what I expected when I was called out here, but I can get behind it. Leave Nivah unharmed. I have plans for her."

Cael'la laughs softly at your warning and waves it away like a gnat.

"Ah yes, the little mouse. Very well I shall leave her untouched. Allow me to give you some advice however, from one partner to another. There is more to that girl then you know. What exactly it is I cannot say, but I can see it in her eyes. I would suggest you rid yourself of her before her problems become your problems, or she kills you for believe her lies. Ultimately it means little to me, but I would hate to see you die when I've just found a use for you."

You feel words forming in your mouth before you brain can process them but Cael'la merely struts away before you can give them form. You contemplate what she said. How much could she know about Nivah? Even after paging through her journal you were left with only the barest hints of something amiss. Regardless, there is no longer any point in standing out here.

>What do you do?

>Find Nivah and tell her what happened
>Go and eat
>Go to your dorm and read through Cael'la's journal

Thanks Brine. Seeya tmrw, unless ur busy having fun with ur shit-tier 3d waifu.

I kid of course. Do what ever you want. Otherwise could get at risk of burning out from doing ~8 hours of quest a day
>>
>>37370650
Trust me the waifu stuff could change real quick
But I appreciate the continued support
>>
>>37370762
As long as you don't suddenly murder them all and go full grimderp like every other sith quest, I don't mind it as long as the focus isn't put on that, it can hang around in the background perfectly fine.

I like the attitude and atmosphere you've got here, its the right mixture of not stupid grimderp, a bit of lighthearted fun, and sometimes serious sith happenings, I'd hate for that to change for the worse with a waifu getting offed, it would suck for the quest to go that way down the drain even before we leave the academy to become an actual apprentice, like the title of this quest is.
>>
>>37370762
>Trust me the waifu stuff could change real quick
Now I'm really paranoid... Please don't do that to us Brine, this is probably the best Sith quest to date because it doesn't go full murderhobo and is actually pretty sensible and neutral.
>>
>>37370762
>>37370781
I wanna go fly around and save sith planets which are ruled peacefully full of happy people from evil jedi trying to destroy all of its infrastructure like dicks.
>>
>>37370781
Sudden deaths is kind of something you have to expect in a Sith Academy, so don't get too heartbroken if some character dies.
>>
>>37370795
Don't be like that anon, that's not what I said at all and you know it.
>>
>>37370801
It is what i want though.
>>
>>37370781
I'm trying to make a point of keeping things very human while keeping the flavor and the intrigue of the Sith alive. There can be betrayal, there can be misunderstandings. There are a lot of people with theories and ideas of what is happening and where allegiances lie and that is exactly what I want. I want you to question yourselves because at the end of the day you do not have all the info that you could have gotten. Don't forget Nivah had other things aside from the journal that you could have seen that could have painted a different picture.

>>37370785
I can say that I will never just kill someone off to be a Edgelord 5000. I will never pull some reason from nowhere for someone to be killed off. There will always be a chance for you to pull the pieces together and understand the full picture, as unlikely as it may be to happen. But no I will not knife someone for edge, and there will never be a no-win situation. All depends on you guys and the dice.
>>
>>37370800
If you go by the full murderhobo versions then yes, but if you actually look into the lore thats not how it goes most of the time, its not in their interests for that to happen, otherwise they end up with no graduates and any who rarely to graduate are pretty crappy. The way OP has been running things so far is pretty damn awesome and close to canon.
>>
>>37370810
>and the dice
well we're screwed then... they've been kind so far, but we all know how the dice gods work
>>
>>37370810
>Don't forget Nivah had other things aside from the journal that you could have seen that could have painted a different picture.
We need to check those out soon, and also finish going through Cael'la's journal and plant it on someone else.
>>
>>37370812
I'm just saying you shouldn't get too attached. At least one student died in the very first sparring session and you'd be a fool not to expect several others to croak before we graduate.
>>
>>37370846
>shouldn't get too attached
Too late for that anon. We're already attached pretty heavily.
>>
>>37370858

>
>Cael'la laughs softly at your warning and waves it away like a gnat.
>
>"Ah yes, the little mouse. Very well I shall leave her untouched.
Good thing we only specified leaving her unharmed, so Cael'la can still let us know if she does anything suspicious behind our back.
>>
So can we agree it would be a shame if whats-her-name would try to kill us?
Also can we agree that we should kill her the instant she tries to?
>>
>>37371669
No, if she tries, we'll break her and then rebuild her to be our servant, we've been over this like 5 times now.
>>
>>37371669
What >>37371801 said, we decided this in like thread 2, let's stick with the plan and not go full murderhobo for no reason, Nivah is too good for that, we shall forge her into our own spaghetti dropping cute assassin.
>>
>>37371669
Yes.
No.
>>
So how will we break her?
Torture? Mind wipe? Blackmail? Mind control?
Transforming her into horrible amalgamation of force and technology that is only alive thanks to her hate?
>>
>>37371903
>Transforming her into horrible amalgamation of force and technology that is only alive thanks to her hate?
Nope, that would just ruin her for what we want.

If she does try something against us, and I really hope she doesn't, then we beat her, spare her and then begin the psychological mind games with some subtle force usage, we find out why she did what she did (if she does anything like that at all, and if we don't stop her before she tries if she does), then we can break down her argument, her viewpoint for why she did what she did, and we can start playing her mind against her, use all the times we've helped her and kept her alive effectively, the relationship we're building with her, get her emotional, get her to understand and realise that she only just wants to be by our side, then we can reaffirm that worldview as hers, and build her back up metaphorically and make her loyal to us. Some forms of torture may be useful during the process, but they wouldn't be physical ones except for sensory deprivation and sleep deprivation, the rest will be mind games to get her mind to do all the work for us.
>>
>>37371903
That's assuming she will try something, and that she'll be very nearly successful in whatever betrayal attempt she might try.

We've got plenty of time before something like that has a chance or rearing its ugly head, and I want to check out the rest of her affects, the photo and the letter, in the very near future.

For now I say don't go out of our way to plan for that eventuality, because then we would just tip her off or destroy the relationship with her. We should mentally create some contingencies but nothing more until we know more, which is what we need to d, get more information.

Man now I'm imagining us as some kind of Sith James Bond, and then the moment shit kicks off we start jumping off the walls and cutting dudes apart with our two sabers.
>>
>>37371903
Mind control in sparing amounts if we need to break her and thats a big IF dependent on Cael'la's words, which I don't trust, she's the smartest we've seen here, I'm betting she said what she said just to have us chasing our tail and playing mind games with ourself, its what I would do.
>>
Probably the most telling thing about her background is that her journal says that she thinks that all sith are evil. That's not something you'd learn in the Sith empire, unless you met an asshole sith. That sounds like something the Republic or the Jedi would teach her.
>>
>>37372040
