One oar dips lower, spinning the boat sharply and sending it grinding into the riverside.

You level a six-eyed glare at the tiny snake, who has coiled herself and crossed her arms as she meets your gaze.
You sigh.

"Why are you here, yes?"
"I already said it, didn't I? You've got some sort of secret for growing up. I want it."
"I do not have some 'growing up' secret. It just happens! There is no secret."

The lamia snorts, trying her best to look down her nose at you.
"Fine. Don't tell me. I'll figure it out on my own."
"There is nothing to figure out!"

Nin flutters her way up, standing against the edge of your skull, her hands braced against your shoulders. She peers over your head, down at the snake- You don't need to look up to know that the damn moth is smiling.
"Nin-"
"Did you know? I have only been with her a little while, but I've already grown as well!"
"Nin!"

Esmerelda's eyes practically sparkle.

>This is all moot. I'm taking you back to your mother.
>You can't just run away. What if people think I kidnapped you?
>Fine. I don't care anymore.

Looking at the pastebins-
Mom is still as terrifying as ever
Poor Aria is already dead
And holy shit our brothers already evolved and Aria, Elle, and Sara are all 1 level away themselves. We're going to be seeing a whole lot of evolutions when we get back home.

Technically the only one we kidnapped is Lann, in that we actually tied her up and threw her over our shoulder. Everyone else came with us on their own decision.

I think harpy is medium/messy, wolf is messy and long as hell, moth is short, spider is long as hell and currently half tied back in a huge braid.

You plant your face in both hands.
"NNnnnrggrghgrhrggrhg."

You'd grind your teeth, but it's basically impossible to do with fangs. You'll have to settle for irritated noises.
"Es-mer-el-da."
You force out each syllable, your mouth snapping shut as you finish, the clack of your teeth providing a period all it's own.
"You cannot just... run away from home. Did you say anything to your mother? Did you-"
"I'm an adult, right. I can do what I want."

"I am thinking that the fact that you have that attitude at all is evidence enough that you are not."
"You're not even two months old!"
"And you are what, a year?! Ten more months and not a brain to show for it!"

The snake scowls at you, pouting and tightening her arms around herself.

"We are going to go back. And if you want to come, you can ask your mother. Properly, yes."
She scowls harder.

"That isn't going to work on me."

>>
You step out of the boat, the lamia's eyes following you all the while. Jin and Nin are returned to the boat- You do have to cocoon the harpy to keep her asleep, but it's really nothing you aren't used to at this point.

A few moments later, you're making your way back up the river, dragging the boat behind you once more, earthen steps forming and falling beneath your feet.

"Godsdamned- bloody reptiles and their bloody- wizards. Worse than wizards."

You keep your pace high- You don't want to end the day where you started it. That's just- No. You want to be halfway home by tonight. No more dawdling.

The river twists and turns- very gently, mind you, but it is doing absolutely nothing for your mood. You could be sailing. You could be getting closer to home and family and the town. You could spend a day just lying in the nest and doing nothing.

Not that you would.
It's pretty easy to acknowledge that there's bears and you would probably want to eat them. And training. Visiting Jin and Lann. Getting Mikhael to teach you more tricks of forging or take jobs at the guild or maybe just weave stuff and glut yourself with candy for a day. Just because.

Oh.
You made it.

You drag the boat ashore, leaving a new riven gap in the sand. Grains grind against the wood, a soft noise before the silence falls. You turn to the boat.

"You can't make me!"
You blink.
"No, I am fairly certain I can, yes."
>>
>>37396387
Nin giggles a bit- Lann is just watching the whole thing with her head in one hand, a lopsided smile on her face.
Sara apparently brought a book, and is no longer concerned with any going-ons.

"I'll bite you."
"I'll bite you back. Get out here."

She at least takes your proffered hand. With her own, and not with her mouth, thankfully.
You nod to your friends, turning back to the forest.
"I'll be back as soon as I can, yes."

You stalk off into the woods, a tiny snake in your grasp.

You step past the treeline, already headed towards where you first found the pair.

You could ask the snake where her house was, but at this point...
Well, it's probably better to save yourself the headache. And the argument. And the ineffectual threats.

Which is why you raise the girl to your face and sniff.

"Whu- What are you doing?!"
"Finding your home, yes."
"Wha- You can just ask!"
"And you would tell me?"

That keeps her quiet for a few seconds at least.
You lower you head- There's a lot of trails. Snakes everywhere, apparently.

You manage to pick out Esmerelda's scent. And more importantly: The scent right next to hers.

You head into the woods- over the shattered tree, further in. Not too far, mind you. A few minutes past your little accident.
You try not to think about it.

The smell is getting stronger. Not just Esmerelda and Lillian's trail, but- More. Many more snakes. Maybe they have a village, like the moths and harpies? It would make a sort of sense. You rather doubt they have the arachne issue of not enough food.

There's a clearing in a grove- plants carefully pruned back, stones smoothed. Completely unnatural.
You don't see a door or anything, though.

Not that that would matter, really. You're a little large to fit inside, you think.
So you do the first thing that comes to mind.

You take a deep breath, and-
"Lilliana!"
>>
>>37397604

You can feel the flurry of movement beneath your feet before you see anything- Snakes appear out of everywhere. Beneath roots, stones, from a knot at the bottom of a tree. Its pretty impressive, all told.

"Hello, yes."
"An arachne? What are you doing here?"
"I am looking for Lilliana, please. I have something of hers."
"Most of our belongings would be a bit small for you to find-"
"It is her daughter, yes? Could you call her out for me, please."

The clearing full of snakes looks to the sullen lamia in your grasp.
There's some chatter, more than a bit of laughter. They disperse, vanishing back into the ground as Esmerelda begins to burn with embarrassment.

The motherly snake appears in no time at all.

You thrust the snake forwards.
"You lost this, yes?"

Esmerelda looks down. Lilliana looks up.

"Oh. You brought her back?"

You blink. Ezzy blinks.
"What?" "What!"

"You didn't think that you slipped away, did you?"
"You didn't see me! You didn't even react!"
"I have been trying to get you to move out and do something for months now, Ezzy."

"Buh- Why?!"
"I haven't had any time alone in the house in months, dear."

This conversation is getting awkward, fast.

"Now, I'm not sure why you decided to smuggle yourself into an arachne's boat, but I was fairly certain there wouldn't be any harm-"
"I thought that you would think I had kidnapped her, yes."

She waves a hand dismissively.
"She is an adult- or something like it."

Esmerelda's hands are clenching at your finger, her face scrunched up- in frustration, or sadness, or embarrassment, you're not sure.
You poke her a few times, but she isn't really in the mood to talk at this point.

"Then it is fine if she comes with us?"
"Oh, I don't have a problem with it. But I think that I am not the one she has to ask."

So far she's done nothing but boast and look foolish. Plus's I don't think she even likes lyra, we bring friends on adventures, not hitch hikers with an attitude problem.

important or very dangerous would have spinning wheels he sounded the alarm. Hobgoblins started pouring and messing the place up. Smashing, over turning and setting fire to whatever they could. Gin punched things, Tim stabbed things, Nye set more stuff on fire using the wonderful logic of, hey it's already burning. Din dusted stuff and then Dr. Love. Dr. Love decided he need to intimidate the Hobgoblins. He however rolled as bad as you could so he decided that he was simply being too fabulous to properly intimidate the Gobs. So he posed. Now After some extended fighting the magic finally happened. The fire reached the alcohol. But not just any alchol, but the Barrels Din and Nye were experimenting on. Because this isn't the first time they experiment I have a chart made up for them, I rolled and got Mundane explosion. Now I gave all of them a roll to see if they noticed the fire heading towards the magically unstable alcohol. All of them noticed except Dr. Love, the only Moth close enough to stop the fire. He was still posing it seems.

The explosion while not magic was large. The surviving hobgobs ran at that point. Most of the Moths, were damaged and burned but fine. Dr. Love however was in trouble. He didn't wake up after the explosion.

Instead he found himself in a world of all black, he had no heart rate and stopped breathing as well, and that's when he saw the Cloaked figure.

Then the figured Squeaked.

It was the Moth Grimreaper and he Challenged her to a game. Speciffecially strip Poker, Which Gin never wanted to play. Seeing as Death only wore a Cloak and Dr. Love being the fabulous moth he was, he figured to would be an easy game. And he did win, he was however stripped down to his equally Fabulous underwear and discovered that upon his return to life Death kept his cloths.

In the world of the living about 12 hours had passed. The rest of Moths had a chance to rest and both Nye and Tim evolved. Nye became even fluffier much to his family's pleasure and Tim gained some neat wind powers. Dr. Love awoke in the hospital and discovered that a certain Butterfly was visting his room.

The warehouse was totaled and they need a new one.

The only other major events were Nye's honeymoon, and the panty raid

Arguments and stowaways aside- leaving her here at this point is past what you are ready to inflict on another person.
You nod.

She bows her head in turn, though her blush is pretty much immovably fixed on her face now.

You raise your hand to your shoulder, and she takes the offer, slithering out of your grasp. She lets her coils fall over either side of your frame, holding a thick lock of hair to keep her balance.

You tilt your head, ever so slightly, in her direction, looking to her mother.
"That is it then, yes?"
"Mmm. Find your happiness, Ezzy. It's somewhere out there. And when you come home, you can tell us all the stories, and all the things you've seen."
"Mm."

She nods- you can't see it, but you can feel the shift of her weight forwards, the tug on your hair as she tries to bow towards her mom.
You wave one hand, turn, and leave.

The little clearing disappears quickly behind you, trees blurring by as you move. The little lamia is quiet.

"It's not-"
"Hm?"

She starts, stops. Choosing her words.

"It's not that I didn't want to leave, alright? It's just- I was waiting. You know? I wanted something to happen. Anything. I just wanted something to change, and nothing ever changed. Not even me."
She clutches your hair a little harder.

You shake your head, careful of your latest cargo addition.

"Change does not work like that, yes?"
She's quiet, riding your shoulder, though her tail twitches and flicks as she listens.
"It is- You need to... The important thing is to take the first step, yes?"

"I don't have any legs."
"And I have eight. But you know what I mean. Change is-"

You wave your hands, trying to trace your point into the air.
"-it does not work by itself. If you want change- in yourself, or around you, you need to move."
She leans against you, her tail sliding across your shoulders, wrapping around your neck. There's a moment of worry, where you think she might choke you- and the you remember that you slaughtered a several story tall bear, and she most likely can't exert anywhere near the force required to crush your windpipe.

Also, you aren't sure that your body works like that, anyway.

"Ezzy, the most important thing- The thing to remember, yes? If you wait for change, when it is all said and done- You will look back, and there will be nothing there."
"It's hard, though. Moving and doing things. Sometimes I- sometimes I get scared."
"Like heights?"
"Heights is- It's not bad. It's other stuff. I didn't even like moving things in my room."

"A lot of people are scared of change, yes."
"But I want to change!"
"That doesn't mean you are not scared. It just means you kept yourself paralysed. And that made it worse, didn't it? And you would think of how you hadn't done anything, and it would hurt, and you would try to not think about it."
"It never worked."

"Mm. But now you are leaving."
"What if it's the same? What if it's me?"
Her tail tightens.

You were right, though. It's more like a tiny hug than a choke.

"I can promise you one thing, if nothing else, yes."

You turn your head, managing to catch her eyes in the corner of yours.

"It will not be same. Not anymore."
