Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37384219/

"Crying, waiting, hoping you'll come back..." You think over the words. This song came to you through the memory of your greatest sorrow; it must be the obsidian heart song which was written of in the ancient tomes.
Now you're left with no other option. The obsidian dragoness may aid you, but only if you can get to her in time. If you can't, Miranda will surely never be able to continue her bardic education. You must prepare, and hopefully try to find an adventuring party of your own. There is only one problem: the professor will not agree to this. After losing his arm, you don't think he will be up for any travels any time soon.
Who do you go to for supplies? Who do you call on for aid? It is up to you, Buddy.

I also thought that it would be proper since the break to update on the important characters in the quest thus far. It seems I attract the same players regularly -- don't be afraid to join in, the rest of you!
In addition, I would like to once again ask for any art from /tg/ or my players of the characters so that I can finally replace that OP image!

Buddy Holly: You are a student aspiring to become a bard. While you are proficient in longswords, you also hold a dagger, a flaming magical shortsword, and a katana. You're nowhere near level 1 yet -- but this is only the time between your first two semesters at the college.
Miranda: Your half-elf girlfriend. A skilled rapier user and once was excelling in both magic and vocal training, but recently an arrow punctured her in the chest and she can no longer speak. Your goal as of right now: find a way to heal her using ancient draconic magic.
Assandra: Miranda's best friend, a dark skinned girl highly skilled in all areas of combat. She's not very ladylike.
Professor Roth: Your lifelong friend and teacher who raised you since the death of your parents. Recently, the professor has lost an arm; you seek to heal him as well.
Professor Miyazaki: The head swordplay instructor of the bardic college, who fights with a wooden sword and inspires confidence. He's from a strange country to the far East.
The Thanes: Servants of the Ruby dragon god; you have slain the amethyst dragon, but there are many that remain.
The Alchemist's Grove: An ancient league of assassins, now you believe them to have been a front for the amethyst dragon who meant to find more valuables to consume and hoard.

Whew, glad that's over.

The Rules:
The official QM Twitter is @CitizenCFKane. Watch there for when a new thread starts.

Generally, the most popular option suggested by the people of /tg/ will win for the action taken or words spoken. However, occasionally dice rolls may be used.

Please be respectful of your fellow players and the GM. Don't be that guy.

Pop culture references are allowed, but an over-abundance of them will likely result in a lackluster experience.

The dice rolls will use the AD&D method. If attacking, roll high. If rolling percentage or a skill, roll low. The majority of rolls will be made with d20.

The highest of three rolls made after the deciding post is the roll taken.

Take the flaming sword, the dragon magic book, the mandolin, the crystal pick, the stuff from the wilderness survival class, and try to find food and a new longsword. Try to get security, Assandra, members of the fencing club, and stage an open invitation in the feasting hall.
>>
>>37407930
You retrieve your necessary items from your room. Since the feasting hall is first on the way, you go there. Many people are celebrating the end of the previous semester. They all fall silent as you calmly walk through the hall and stand on the table.
"My classmates, you know me from both my victories and failures in combat. Know this, now: at least one student and one professor are in danger, and it is I who holds the key to destroying that threat."
You draw the flaming shortsword. "This sword was taken by myself during combat alongside my good friend, professor Roth, from a dragon which he and I killed together."
You step down from the table. "I require help, bards in training, for I fear I cannot survive this travel on my own. Who of you values courage over life? Will you not come with me?"
Alas, the students go about their business, ignoring you for the most part. Some looked willing to come for a moment, but turned their attention away to their festivities, save for one.
"Wonderful speech, Buddy." A woman wearing a black dress says. She's tall, skinny and pale skinned. She has long, dark hair tied in a ponytail. "Shame it didn't go over well."
"Who are you?"
"Just another student. My name is Roz. I find your proposition interesting, and I believe that I will accompany you."
"Excellent."
"And don't think you're going to go off without me." Assandra approaches you. "Though my other team members might not seem up to it, I'm surely capable. More capable than you, anyway."
"Good, Assandra. This is Roz. The two of you should gather food for us, and water. I'm going to go get a new longsword and see if the security force is interested in accompanying us."
You receive the longsword of your choice from the armory near the fencing stage, where you see the fencing team captain and his brother sparring. You could ask them to come along, but there is bad blood between you. Do you?
>>
>>37408202
No. They'd probably just try to fuck us over.
>>
>>37407367
Possible Miranda.
>>
>>37408486

You keep going and try to get the help of the security force.
"Well, you just keep stirring up trouble, don't you?" An officer asks.
"No, I've come to ask for aid in finding an obsidian dragon."
"No can do, kiddo. We've lost plenty of men just yesterday, so there's nothing more we can do right now. Maybe next semester."
"I don't have until next semester!"
"And we don't have anyone here who can help for off-campus matters right now!"
"Hey, don't be hard on him." The captain comes over and pats you on the shoulder. "Where are you heading now?"
You pull out your map and point to the black marking. He frowns.
"There's not much I can do other than arrange a travel route for you. It's an island, so at least I can arrange water passage."
"Thank you, captain."
"I'll get the map with the new information to you later today. For now, why don't you see if any of your professors would be willing to help?"
You think of them. Yes, the magic teacher is powerful, but very dull. The wilderness survival teacher seems part-time, so you might not be able to find him. And you're not sure how you would approach professor Miyazaki.
Who do you go to?
>>
>>37408581
>The magic teacher
We'll need a competent spellcaster.

<--Assandra?
>>
Roz.

>>37408530

Thanks for the art finds, I might use it!

You decide to go to the magic teacher. She is in her office.
"Mr. Holly, what a surprise. I thought you had no interest in magic."
"For now I do. I have a book of draconic magic and I seek the blessing of a dragon. I was hoping you would accompany me."
"This is interesting, Mr. Holly. Yes, I will accompany you."
"Really?"
"But not directly. Boy, I am far too old for such things!"
"Then what will you do?"
"I can use magic to transport you near your destination. Not too far, sadly -- but it would cut your travel time in half."
"I thank you for your aid. I will return when I need your services."
"Next semester, you must do better, young student."
"I will!" You say, walking out of the room.

Anything else on that checklist?
>>
>>37408798

Try to track down the wilderness survival teacher, ask him for some tips on surviving life as an adventurer.

I can't really find any art that fits Buddy.
>>
>>37408798
Ask Miyazaki for a crash course in short sword usage.

We should ask Roz what she's actually good at.

Does Miranda want to come? She's still pretty good with a sword.
>>
>>37408973

You look for the wilderness survival teacher, but he's nowhere to be found. Perhaps he's hiding or camping somewhere. Perhaps not. You aren't really sure, and he didn't really have an office to go to.

>>37409014
You go to Miyazaki.
"Professor Miyazaki, please teach me to use a short sword!"
Roll 1d20. Aim low.
>>
Rolled 7 (1d20)

>>37409095
>>
>>37409116

With great skill you learn the basics of shortsword swordplay.
"Will you come with me, professor?"
"No, Buddy, I cannot. I am truly sorry."
"It's alright."

You head back to the feasting hall. Roz and Assandra have assembled a large amount of supplies.
"Hey, Roz," you ask, "What are you particularly good at?"
"I'm a decent magic-user," she replies.
"That's good. Assandra, have you seen Miranda?"
"Yeah. She's not going anywhere in her current condition."
"Then I guess it's the three of us, isn't it?"

Do you think this is enough? But, then, who else could you possibly go to?
>>
>>37409451
Can't think of anyone else that would help us for free.
>>
>>37409629

Unable to consider any more options, you settle with this group. You will begin your journey soon.
Sorry, something has come up and I will be unable to continue, unfortunately. This will continue later, probably in another thread.
>>
>>37409929
Can we roll back that last decision then? I'd like to give the other anons a chance to come up with suggestions for who to talk to or what to take at the start of the next thread.
