Psychic Rebel Thread 15

You are Shee Hyul, rebel and psychic. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.

You pick up a weeping Lirael and head after the fleeing rebels. Once the security forces have taken the comm. station they seem disinclined to chase the rebels, the few that head after them are dissuaded from following by blasts from the warmechs laser rifle.

The main body of the rebel forces flees into the night, heading for the prearranged rendezvous point as the security forces take up positions around the comm. station. You cannot see any rebels left over near there so you head after the main rebel group. Carrying Lirael slows you down enough that they easily outpace you, well you think they’ll outpace you if you let them...

A few short teleportations later and you’re running alongside the rebel group, you manage to keep up until they get to where they’re going and stop for a breather. All around you people ask who is hit, who is hurt...and who didn’t make it. You’re standing around a motley collection of trucks and cars.

With Lirael clinging to you tightly and weeping, her head buried in your shoulder, you seek out those you know. It’s easy to pick the warmech out of the crowd due to its size. As you get closer you see that its armour is pretty torn up, but it seems to be moving ok.

Rainya and Charun are standing by the warmech, Dev pops the hatch and asks something of Charun, you hear Charuns answer as you get closer.
>>
“I’m sorry” says Charun softly, holding the seeping wound in his mid-section “Rhydian didn’t make it Dev.”

“Oh” says Dev, his face falling “Oh...”

“You mean...” asks Rainya, you see the last flickers of hope die in her expression.

“Yes” says Charun “Rhydian is dead. We’ll mourn him later, but now we need to get out of here.”

Dev and Rainya appear to be uninjured.

“CHARUN!” bellows a voice “Charun where are you, you lying old fart, when I find you I’m going to rip out your spine!” The voice is getting closer, sounds like Six.

The crowd around you parts and Six strides towards your little group, a nasty looking bruise on his face and blood staining his clothes. He strides up to Charun then does a double-take when he sees you “You!” he hisses, drawing his pistol.

Charun steps close, grabbing Sixes wrist in a tight grip and pulling his pistol out of his hand. As Six turns angrily to Charun, Charun raises Sixes empty hand in the air and yells to the crowd “Six everyone: his leadership and planning today saved a lot of lives, we didn’t come out of this unscathed, and we lost friends, but thanks to Six many are alive now who might not be, to Six!”

The crowd around you gives a ragged cheer and Six forces a smile. The crowd starts to break up and get in their vehicles, some have long journeys ahead of them after all. Six turns to Charun and says “Harmless huh, weak powers huh? Not worth recruiting for the I9 program huh? Charun you filthy lying selfish stupid piece of shit, do you know what your pet spook did to me you old bastard?”

Uh oh, seems like someone remembers...

Dev and Rainya watch him rant, confused. Charun shows no expression at all.

Charuns injured, Lirael won’t stop crying and whilst some of the crowd are away, many aren’t, if Six makes a scene and incites everyone against you, you might be forced to run, or fight.

From last thread

You feel the power of the Ichor in the Depths churn within you, offering you one of 3 Gifts

Shadows of the Depths
This hides all physical mutations you have (or may later gain) using a combination of shapeshifting and illusion. Physical mutations are only displayed when you want them to be, or when you are using them (i.e. if you use wings to fly, your wings must be visible). Powerful magic is required to pierce this concealment. At higher levels you can change your appearance to match the surroundings, gaining a bonus to stealth.

Strength of the Mothers Love

You gain strength from the proximity of those you care deeply about. These can be close friends, family you care about, or anyone you want to help and/or protect strongly enough.
The bonuses are limited by the number of those you care about and the number of times you have selected this talent. To be counted as in proximity you must be able to see the person in question or they must be next to you (within 3 metres or so). All bonuses are morale bonuses.
At Strength of the Mothers Love 1: As long as you have one or more of those listed below nearby you gain: a +2 bonus to Will checks to resist any mind-affecting powers or abilities; and a +1 bonus on all skill rolls and ability checks.
Higher ranks allow larger bonuses and more varied bonuses as long as more of those you care about are nearby.
Those who currently qualify for the purposes of this power are: Ashley, Lirael
This list may change over time.

Creature of the Deep
You can breathe underwater and the cold and pressure of deep water are harmless to you – those from other sources affect you normally. At higher levels you gain the ability to summon water into someone’s lungs, drowning them, to telekinetically control water, and transform into water. Optional upgrades include aquatic-themed mutations.

OP post has 15 minute vote-time, still ongoing
>>
Gift Vote in 10 minutes

Seduction has been removed from The Ichor in the Depths Gifts, an altered version will be available under Baalzamon, later.

I realise in the place you’re currently at, sea-related powers aren’t the best, but they are the sort of powers the Ichor offers, and some may be useful even this far from the sea.
>>
>>37442607
>Strength of the Mothers Love
>>
>>37442607
All three are really good.
Mothers love is a bit limited, since we don't have Lirael always around.
And I wonder that Rainya isn't there yet, since we got Favor for taking care of her too at one point.

>Seduction has been removed from The Ichor in the Depths Gifts, an altered version will be available under Baalzamon, later.
Thats actually agood decision, then at least I can now stop trying to wrap my mind around how Seduction works in her portefolio, it works for Baalzamon perfectly.

Creature of the Deep is pretty cool too, though. Not right now, but the the higher levels would really pay off.
>>
>>37442607
Woah, Shadows of the Depths is pretty damn good. Way better than the Mirror. Again.

Can we pelase pick this one and unlock mutations?
>>
>>37442743
It'd also give us sniper camo if we level it. I agree with you anon.
>>
>>37442607
Probably going to go with Shadows of the Depths. We need to get a mutation-hiding power soon and this one also grants a camouflage effect.
>>
>>37442607

Creature of the deep.
>>
>>37442607
Shadows of the Depth, this time definitly.
We do need that hiding power at some point, and this one is even upgradable.

Creature of the Deep isn't all that good before higher levels, and Mothers love 3meter proximity is way too close. The chances of someone being that close to us ina fight are tiny.

Sad Wishcraft didn't show up this time.
>>
>>37442607
Do any of these deviate from the standard 5 XP/level pattern of upgrade costs?
>>
As Six harangues Charun you focus on the back of Sixes head. You did this once before, you can do it again....

Roll 1d20+6 to dominate

If successful, what do you want him to say/do?
Just having him stick around until the others are gone is fine, or feel free to write-in.

Will you use Psychic Surgery to change his memories?

I agree with taking Shadows, not sure about Mutations, since the "strong magic can pierce it", we have no real idea how common such "strong magic" is in the hive. And there is currently something in the Hive supressing magic.

The power of the Ichor in the Depths settles into your form, allowing you to conceal any mutations you may later gain.

You seize Six’s struggling consciousness with your own willpower and Six backs off a little from Charun, adding in an irritated-but-no-longer-enraged voice “this girl grabbed me and ported me straight into combat without so much as asking me. I had to change my plan on the fly thanks to her. The others probably think I’m losing it now. Thanks a lot *old friend*. Next time” he pokes a finger at Charun “Damn well tell me about your teams abilities so I can plan around them.”

Charun waits before replying then says “Got it.”

The rest of the rebels leave, Six’s team is the last to depart “Hey boss you coming?” one of them asks.

Six waves them off “Go ahead” he says “I’ll meet you later at outpost Field.”

Six’s team mate shrugs and they all pile in the car, leaving Six with you. You can feel him struggling uselessly against your control.

After everyone else has left, leaving you, Charun, Rainya, Dev and a weeping Lirael behind, Charun says to Rainya and Dev “I think Six needs a moment to talk to Shee, what she did was pretty reckless.”

Rainya takes an unresisting Lirael from you as you and Six walk some distance away, his body still moving under your control. Dev says “Good luck Shee, I think you did fine.”

What do you do?

>No memory alteration, just talk to him
>Alter recent memories: The plan was all his idea, there was no mind-control

These take 1 minute

I'm starting to get worried about Six.
We didn't get ANY favor with Ballzamon until he showed up, and then we get Favor for interacting with him twice?
>>
>>37443512
Six is a bloody idiot, hence the need to manipulate him. No wonder the resistance is doing so poorly if the other leaders are like him.

Now I realised what bothered me about the Club of the Damned.
Its managed and staffed by people loyal to the King of Hell, and its legitimacy is completly dependend on his Cult maintaining it.
What happens if we go up against his Champion?

You reach into his head and huh, it’s hard to describe, like fixing an engine when you can’t see all the parts, but you can tell what you’re touching by the general shape.

The memories of the battle are fresh in his mind, but they’re also fragile, you pull and tweak here and there until you can’t tell the exact specifics, but the shape feels right.

Six should still be angry at you, after all you pulled him into a firefight and out of the command centre he’d set up. He’d agreed to your plan, and you hadn’t told him about your teleporting powers.

You reach further into his head, you can’t tell exactly who Six does and does not trust, but the cluster of emotions in this part of his head seems...small. You insert your name and face in there and it pulses and writhes before rejecting you.

[Psychic Energy 5/26]

It’s hard, keeping Six in your grasp whilst altering his mind, you can feel your grip slipping.

Keep trying to make him trust you?

You feel a coldness settle into your head and into your heart and Baalzamon grants you 1 of 3 gifts.

Misdirected Words
Those you manipulate do not realise that is you doing it. Whenever you use Fellowship or any telepathy effect to influence another you may spend 6 psychic energy and make a Fellowship (deception) check against the target, success means they do not realise that it was you who made them take whatever action you want them to take, instead they attribute their actions to the machinations of another or their own desires and choices.
This Gift has a single expansion, that allows you to make a target copy your views on a single person or issue (hate what you hate, love what you love etc).

Darkness
You can see in non-magical darkness. Higher levels allow you to see in magical darkness, gain bonuses to hide and sneak in areas of darkness, summon patches of darkness and terrify those in or near darkness.

Tail
You grow a long black tail, perhaps four feet long, slender and agile. Initially it aids you to balance, climb and swim. At level 2 it becomes prehensile and has an upgrade to add a weapon to it (such as a blade, stinger or something more exotic. Level 2 costs 2XP, Weaponry cost varies depending upon what you buy.

Vote in 10 minutes, please don't vote until asked to.

It was never suggested she listened in, is what I meant. And too many arguments and foolish decisions here are caused by people not properly reading things, just like us supposed to have the comm 'on', not have her in the line.

You should also read the setting paste, in case you haven't yet, because its Shees knowledge of the world, and explains a lot of behvior of some characters.
>>
>>37444739
That actually reminds.
She already tracks us wthrough the commlink, we need to be really careful what we say and send over the comm from now on, because she might be listening into our calls too.
>>
The darkness swirls within you, all around you the night is suddenly clear as day, you can see snakes sliding across the sand, you can see the worried looks Dev and Rainya are casting your way, as well as Charuns angry expression. You focus on Six...

This isn’t working, Six is too distrusting in general. You make sure his new memories in place and tidy up the last few minutes in Six’s head, and then release him.

Six twitches “Where was I?” he asks, confused

“I should have told you” you prompt, continuing where Six...thought he paused the conversation.

“Yeah!” says Six, jabbing a finger in your chest “You should have told me you damn spook, I kept you out of the I9 program at Charuns request, I listened to your plan and you jump me out of my command post into the middle of the battle, what were you thinking?”

“I’m sorry” you say as contritely as you can “I was worried about my friends.”

“Yeah?” he says “I saved one of your friends by attacking a Gifted, a *Gifted*, so never do anything like that again!”

He stalks back past your friends, glaring at Charun as he goes, heading to his own car.

Charun watches him go, gives you a searching look and then says “Get the warmech hidden, then get some rest, everyone else, in the truck. We’ll say goodbye to Rhydian later, it’s dangerous here.”

Dev gets out of the Warmech and heads for Charuns truck, Rainya looks at you, and at the weeping Lirael in your arms “I’ll look after her” she says “come to my place when you’re done.”

The truck pulls away. You teleport back to the Psychic Research Facilities warmech repair bay and, with a great deal of effort and several attempts, pull the warmech towards you, it appears in the repair bay. It’ll be a little while before Rainya and the others are back home. You examine your warmech in the mean time, with the lights out, just to see how your new sight works. Despite the darkness you can see perfectly.
>>
The warmech has taken only superficial damage: although it looks torn up only the outer armour is damaged, none of the servos or more delicate parts, it would only take an hour to replace the damaged armour, and there are plenty of spares lying around here.

After a suitable time you teleport back to your shack and head over to Rainyas. Rainya is comforting a miserable-looking Lirael. Lirael has stopped crying but still looks upset about something.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with her” says Rainya

How do you handle this?

“Lirael” you say “What’s wrong?”

Lirael starts crying again and turns away from you, hugging Rainya tightly

“I’m sorry I didn’t come to help straightaway” you say, taking a wild stab in the dark “But there was a lot going on, and I know you’re so grown-up and able to look after yourself and, uh...”

Lirael mumbles something.

“What?” you ask

“Why’d you kill him?” sobs Lirael, her face turned away from you “Why’d you kill Ewan?”

“Who?” you ask, oh the creepy guy messing with her-

“He was my friend” bawls Lirael “And you just killed him, and you won’t be my feeder and you let other vampires bite you all the time and I hate you!”

What?

Rainya just gives you the look of someone far out of her depth.

“Lirael” you say gently “can you show me what’s wrong...in my mind?”

Lirael finally turns to look at you “You never want me in your head” she says

“This is a special case” you say “show me, please.”

Lirael focuses on you and
---
A jumble of memories go past. That creepy guy playing with Lirael on board the spaceships she travelled on. He was her only friend when her parents neglected and ignored her.

Wait, Lirael never told you this.

You see yourself, barely feeding Lirael, starving her, begrudging every bite. That’s...not how it happened...

You see Lirael watching from the shadows as a parade of vampires, their faces obscured come to your shack to feed on you.

What?
---

Suddenly it ends. What was that?

“You see now” says Lirael “you...you *blood-whore!*”

Rainya gives you a troubled look but says nothing.
>>
Liraels memories, it appears as if someone has tampered with them, and in doing so has damaged Liraels trust in you. Your hands clench into fists, if you could bring that guy back to life just so you could kill him again, you would, but that won’t help Lirael. You need to get her to trust you again, so you can figure out how to fix...whatever he did, using your new power. You doubt you’ll get in her head if she doesn’t want you there.

What do you do?

“Lirael” you say “Look inside my memories, see what I saw, see what happened, I never fed other vampires in front of you, I’ve not let *anyone* bite me in years, see what that guy was doing to you.”

Lirael shakes her head “I don’t want to see you kill my friend again” she wails.

“Then start slow” you say “Go back to when we first met, please...?”

With a lot of coaxing, and with Rainya watching, Lirael looks inside your mind and sees your interactions with her, from your point of view. She searches your mind but can’t find any other vampires biting you since you met, and finally, hesitantly she looks at what you saw in the battle. With your minds so closely mixed you can feel her horror and anguish as she watches you kill *Ewan* again. Then she pauses and goes back, watching you appear there and seeing her hurting, seeing her crying.

Lirael digs at this memory hard, painfully hard and you grit your teeth, but she can’t find anything false in it.

Finally Lirael breaks the connection and just stares at you.

“Shee” she says “what’s going on?”

“I think he messed with your head” you say “I think he wanted to make you into his puppet or something, by making you hate people who care about you, like me, like your parents.”

Lirael shakes her head and presses her hands to her temples “My memories don’t make sense” she sobs “How do I fix this?”

How do you respond?

Ichor would probably understand we're doing it to avoid hurting her. You don't go and try when you're dead tired because you might hurt the girl more.
>>
>>37445953
Thats not what he means.

He means there will likely be a option to manipulate Liraels mind to make her more dependent on us/weaken her affection for her parents in our favor, to make us "more" her mother.
Don't forget. Ichor is a jealous goddess.
>>
>>37445805
>>I’ll fix it once I’m rested and ready

Yes. And when we do this, we will need to slowly look in and peal layer by layer back. It will be slower but more sure.

This guy did this over a short period of time, there will be holes to exploit.

I wonder if the real memories are still there or not though?
>>
>>37445999
That option can go fuck itself.
>>
>>37446072

>>
>>37446072
To be fair, there is a good reason to not touch those alteration sin her mind, because Shee doesn't know how much that part was altered, so "returning" it is definitly the most problematic part of the procedure.
So, there is a non-yan reason for it, and not a bad one at that.
>>
>>37446167
That's not how removing Psychic Surgery works, anon.
>>
>>37446185
It doesn't actually say how reversing the alterations works IC.
And more importantly, Shee doesn't know if she couldn't fuck up something in Liraels head if she attempts to return memories she doesn't know anything about.
>>
“I’ll help you fix it” you say, Lirael looks at you dubiously as you add “But not now, when I’ve recovered a little, for now, let’s go home and rest.” You offer Lirael a hand.

Lirael looks back and forth between you and Rainya several times before saying “I want to stay with Rainya tonight.”

Rainya gives you a somewhat shocked look but says “It’s ok with me...”

“Ok Lirael” you say, pushing her further right now might not be a good idea “I’ll see you in the morning.” You head back to your place, and for the first time in several weeks, you lay down to rest alone. Sleep is a long time in coming...
---
You wake up the next morning, huh has Lirael already got up?

Then the memories of yesterday come flooding back, how you took control of Six’s mind, how that Gifted telepath messed with Liraels head, your hands ball into fists...you hope that he ended up in Hell, you’d really like a few minutes alone with his shade. You’ve got work today but you could call in sick, you look within you, your pool of psychic energies has recovered somewhat.

[Psychic energy 11/26]

Or you could wait until its recovered further and try to help Lirael further. Either way, you could be hours trying to fix her messed up head.

>>
>>37446594

You can’t leave this too long, who knows what might happen. You get up and head out to breakfast. You see Lirael and Rainya sat together and sit next to them, Lirael scoots away from you fractionally and towards Rainya.

Ouch.

You ask Rainya quietly “How’d you sleep?”

Rainya gives you a smile “Well the bugs weren’t biting if that’s what you mean” she says.

That’s good” you say, relieved. At the thought of Lirael biting Rainya your skin gets hot and you want nothing more than Lirael to sink her fangs into you, to feel that familiar bliss once more, you shove it down, you can’t afford the distraction now.

“I was thinking you could tell work I won’t be able to make it in today” you say to Rainya “I’m not feeling well, might just spend the day resting you know” you indicate Lirael with a nod of your head.

“Sure” says Rainya, nodding in agreement “I hope you feel better soon.”

After breakfast you lead Lirael back home “Where are we going today?” asks Lirael moodily

“Why don’t we spend some time together” you suggest, gathering your things “We can play SimGuns if you like?”

Lirael just folds her arms and looks away “I want Rainya to come” she complains “I bet she’d be a loyal feeder.”

Yeah...you remind yourself she’s not herself right now. You could catch Rainya before she gets the bus, or maybe try to persuade Lirael to trust you, or just take her to the research facility, either way, going to the facility is the goal, you need a quiet place to work.

Lirael is a eleven year old girl, and Rainya has been sitting her for days at a time and is the only person besides Shee, now the only person in Liraels mind, who has been taking car of her all this time.
I think "dear" is appropriate.
>>
>>37446796
There is nothing to indicate that it would work that way. The DC we're going to have to beat is equivalent to the Telepathy check of the Gifted that did this to her, there are no further modifiers and passing it undoes all alterations.

Lirael rolls her eyes at you “No” she says, as if you just asked the dumbest question in the world, adding “fine, let’s just go.”

Well, not the result you were hoping for, but you’ll take it.
---
At the facility you wonder about the best way to get Lirael to let you help her. It seems after sleeping she trusts you even less now. You worry about how she’ll be affected if you don’t fix this soon.

Lirael heads straight for the SimGuns range with you trailing behind, thinking, what is the best way to convince Lirael to relax and trust you enough to help?

You talk to Lirael, distracting her from SimGuns, eventually she leaves it alone as you remind her of all the fun you’ve had together, how you explored the facility, the adventures you’ve been on. After a while she lightens up a bit and starts reminiscing with you.

Eventually the conversation trails off and there’s silence, you decide now is the best time to say “You used to feed from me regularly, are you thirsty now Lirael?”

Lirael gives you a searching look “You’re just saying that” she says “Besides, you feed lots of vamps.”

“There’s no one here but you and me” you say “and you said I refused to be your Feeder, well now I’m saying” you take a breath “That I will, just you and me Lirael, no other vampires.”

Lirael considers this for a long moment. Where you too forward? Was that the wrong thing to say?

“Ok” she says, and the two of you head to the dorm together.

You lie down atop one of the beds with Lirael and pull off your top, you want her to have easy access to your shoulder, Lirael is tentative at first and then she bites you. You slump back, holding on to her as the familiar sweet release builds within you. Lirael may not consciously remember this, but to you it feels so familiar, you drift away, joy and bliss and everything rushing through you.

All too soon it is over and the two of you lie on the bed together, holding each other, though Lirael seems tense in your grasp...

“Alright” says Lirael “You said you could help me, well, help me Shee, please.”
---
You focus your powers and you feel Lirael lowering her psychic defences as your mind touches hers. You sink into Liraels mind, it’s far less cluttered than Six’s. As a child and a telepath Liraels mind has less baggage and is more organised. Or at least, it was...
>>
Whatever this Ewan did, it left a real mess. Liraels emotions and memories are tangled and confused. You don’t know if he was just inept or in a hurry, either way this is going to take some work. Over the course of several hours to start to repair Liraels fractured mind. Fortunately the clumsiness of Liraels attacker works to your advantage, you can still see the shape of Liraels memories underneath his work.

It’s a long and delicate process but you tease her real memories back into shape whilst erasing everything he did to her mind. Eventually you look around convinced that your job is done, you let your connection to Liraels mind fade away and open your eyes. Lirael is held in your arms and tears are leaking from her eyes “Oh Shee” she says “I’m so sorry.” Lirael buries her head on your shoulder, bringing a pleasant thrill from your bite wounds and cries. You hold her and comfort her, whispering to her and telling her it will be alright.

Your powers are exhausted, and you feel weak and tired.

[PE 0/26, HP 22/45, Con 13/14]

Lirael suddenly bites you again, at the same time you can feel her powers probing your mind, trying to find a way in. Even as her mind tangles itself with yours, as the familiar bliss carries you away you can feel she’s trying to tell you something, she’s sorry, she blames herself, wants to make it right some...how...

You have chance for one last thought before your mind is swept under by the ecstasy of Liraels bite.

Use Royal Dominion to protect yourself against Lirael?

She doesn't have Psychic Surgery, and (living) vampires can never get it. The closest she could come to doing that would be Suggestion, and that's temporary.

Probably a Calm or Love/Friendship Empathic Projection.

>>37448431
She does, but we can fix it without issue. Psychics!
>>
Lirael that’s rude...is the last thought you have before the current of pleasure washes you under. Your trust in her is strong enough that you don’t try to defend yourself against her.

Liraels thoughts enter yours as your mind relaxes under the waves of intense pleasure rushing through you. Lirael burrows deeper and deeper into your mind until...

You’re not Lirael, and you’re not Shee either, you’re both. Two minds have (temporarily at least) become one.

Your raw psychic strength combines with Liraels innate talent from her bloodline as well as the training she has received from a very early age from her mother.

The psychic gestalt examines both its constituent minds and smoothes out the rough edges of the fixes you made to Liraels mind. You didn’t miss anything, but you used more power than skill to heal her mind.

The gestalt made of both of you flips through both sets of memories, unlocking all the secrets you have.

[Psychic Gestalt: You can combine your powers with one or more willing psychics, this requires that at least one of you has the Mental Contact power. A Psychic Gestalt can only take one action per round but uses the highest psychic skill modifier of all the psychics that make it up, plus an extra +2 per psychic beyond the first. It also draws Psychic Energy from any of its members (or other resources such as vitae) as required to use its powers. A Psychic Gestalt is a composite of the minds that make it up. Members can withdraw at any time.]

Lirael didn’t exactly intend for this to happen, she just wanted to show you how sorry she is, and that she wants to make it up to you, but it seems that being fed on weakens your mental defences somewhat, as well as her control over her powers when she is feeding.
>>
With both your secrets laid bare, you can tell that Lirael trusts you implicitly, and will do as you ask without question (within reason).

[Dhampir (Graced) unlocked: Lirael will make people into Dhampirs if you ask her to.]

[Ascension unlocked: Lirael will use her Ascension ability when you ask her to. This will be added to her character sheet soon.]

Eventually your minds untangle from one another and you are separate entities once more, the contact lasted a few minutes at most. As you lay there, overwhelmed by both the twin pleasure of being fed on, and the memory of feeding, you try to understand what happened.

Lirael doesn’t seem troubled by events though, she just cuddles up to you, whispering “Love you Shee” and you both drift off to sleep, exhausted

>>
>>37449021
Created Dhampirs: Dhampirs (Graced) can be created by a vampire with the Healing Power at 7th degree or higher by simply feeding a living creature with his own vitae. This requires a willing, pinned or unconscious creature. Such ‘created’ Dhampirs (Graced) do not create their own vitae, instead they must receive vitae from a vampire. A Created Dhampir (Graced) lowers its Will checks to defend against vampire powers against any vampire who has fed it vitae, by five times the vampires degree in Command. This lasts as long as the Dhampir (Graced) has vitae from that vampire in its system and for 1 day afterwards per degree the vampire has in Command. Created Dhampirs (Graced) expend a (20 – their constitution, minimum of 1) vitae per day, as their body attempts to reject the vampire vitae. Once a Created Dhampir (Graced) has no vitae it loses access to all its vampire powers, and is no longer a Dhampir (Graced). Vampire vitae is addictive; regular feedings of vampire vitae will addict most people.

Toughness for both, some stat improvements if needed.

I think Dev should likely go into the War Mech stuff. Unless he unlocks some other power.

I think pushing her willpower is a good idea.

So, caught up. It isn't the best option looking back now that we know what happened, but we could have let 6 die to cover up after ourselves. I might not have voted for it but I think I would have brought it up.

Letting Six die would have been a terrible idea, we are going to show Kae in a few days our memories, how do you think she would have liked it if we would have killed a person to cover up for us?
>>
>>37449892
It was brought up by others at the time, just not a lot because veryone realised its a bad idea in anything but the most desperate of circumstances.
>>
>>37449929
>Letting Six die would have been a terrible idea, we are going to show Kae in a few days our memories, how do you think she would have liked it if we would have killed a person to cover up for us
Right, about that. Why didn't we get the power that lets us falsify memories for others when they try to read instead of getting this binary thing? Was it just assumed she is powerful enough to see through it? I don't really feel to confident in the officers words.

>>37450028
And yeah letting him die might pass, but killing him would have been OOC.
>>
>>37450108
>Why didn't we get the power that lets us falsify memories for others when they try to read instead of getting this binary thing?
Several reasons, for me.
First of all, the ones that falsify memories didn't offer protection for mind-control, only reading.
And mind-control is a serious threat to us, since we have to fight Gifted and Vampires, especially living vampires like Quinn have mind-control powers.

Second reason, if the attempt to falsify our memories had failed, we would have instantly lost all trust Kae could have ever had in us, and all things considered, we have nothing to hide worth that risk, after the Demon Magic thing.
>>
>>37450171
Well, I could think of a few. Like being a rebel and having the potential to be a god, but that's true enough. I still don't know why she would trust us once she sees that we are suppose to keep an eye on her, but I assume there is a reason. Maybe that keep your enemies closer nonsense. Or maybe she is just a stuck up brat who wants some excitement.
>>
>>37450108
>falsify memories
That power let us hide secrets from our mind, not falsify memories, IIRC. It might've just been flavorful text and it actually did let us falsify memories, or I might be misremembering, but it's an important distinction (assuming it existed).

I didn't want to know what the God of *Betrayal* might ask us to do with that big mission coming up, in addition to the reasons already mentioned by another.

>>37449929
That looks good. I'd recommend tacking a degree in both Endurance and Command onto Lirael and saving the rest until we've decided on which ranged weapon we want.

Personally leaning towards a light automatic weapon or pistol. Those seem like they'd mesh best in a combat situation with her small size and high mobility. There isn't any *light automatic* skill, though, so I'm not sure whether that would fall under pistols or long arms or what.

>Command +1 (7) -5 XP

Reformatted it because Autism.
>>
>>37450311
>Well, I could think of a few. Like being a rebel and having the potential to be a god
Those are serious matters, true. But in the end they aren't serious enough to leave ourselves vulnerable to mind-control to protect them.

>I still don't know why she would trust us once she sees that we are suppose to keep an eye on her
I assume you only read the direct updates, so its a understandable confusion.
The thing is, we agreed to it back then, under the assumption we wouldn't betray Kae anyway, and only agree because we didn't have a choice, and it would allow us to keep her safe from other spies.
Pally confirmed she would see those considerations if she reads our memories.
Thats why we have nothing to fear,l because Shee never intended to betray her, the only concern we had was Yonsul figuring that out.
>>
>>37450383
Could you make a "Final" spread for all three, so others can give their input if they want to change something?
I don't think anyone would consider them final until you posted them.
>>

> or you can allow them to read a false impression of your mind, one cleansed of all secrets you want hidden
Thats technically falsifying our memories. Just not selectiv.

Looks good, if we get another 8 next thread, unlikely, we could get her Duplication 3 and a combat feat.

Maybe get her more HP for the Duplicates might also be nice. Pally was pretty generous in not making us organize their rescue at the beginning of the thread.
>>
>>37451107
What does it take to activate Rainyas other abilities anyway?
We should solve that as soon as possible.

And I'm really, really mad that Rydhian died.
I forgot to ask Pally if we could have done something to save him.
I have the feeling he wouldn't have, if we would have inducted him into our circle earlier.
Now we need someone else to be target for our mutation powers.
>>
>>37451107
Well, we kinda did organize their rescue already, with minimal direct interference. Six shot the Gifted the Warmech was fighting as per our last order, distracting it and letting Dev get the plasma sword in a position where he could kill it. After that, it was just a bunch of mooks versus a Warmech, which ended predictably.

Still sad that Rhydian died, even if we didn't know him well.

>>37451208
Extreme emotional duress or sufficient training might do it. It could also be uncontrollable and spontaneous or plot-related. We should ask Teacher about what causes Champions to develop new powers.

We can't control the plot like that and I'd prefer not to traumatize our friends, so maybe try having Rainya's duplicates do wildly different precision tasks at the same time for training. It'd help her with her current power, if nothing else.

It did feel a bit like he was just thinning the number of named characters, starting with the one we're least attached to. He already had his own mutations.
>>
>>37451035
Lirael's powers are really potent.

She seems to be the one that will have the most choices in xp outside of Shee.

I guess Dev can go down the path of mastering and modifying his toy mech, for when we really need firepower?
>>
>>37451418
We should probably also invest some of his XP into melee feats, for when he can't use the mech.

>>37451388
>starting with the one we're least attached to
I will abstain from making the obvious comment here.

I do think our cell could use some growth, actually. But I guess we will have to see about recruiting at some other point.

We should encourage Rainya to train with her powers more, true. I think we should also take her on more of our adventures from now on, to increase the chance of her new powers activating.
>>
>>37451534
>We should probably also invest some of his XP into melee feats, for when he can't use the mech.

Mech has an energy sword. It should apply to that also.
>>
>>37451418
Rainya technically has more power choices than Lirael, but fewer than Shee (maybe). Rainya could, hypothetically, access all powers that are available to all four branches of Champions, which is a pretty staggering number.

Dev being a dedicated Mechwarrior is good for the time being. The upgrades will help it keep pace pretty well, I think.

>>37451534
I have no idea what the obvious comment is.

As long as we don't reach Suikoden levels of named characters.

Bringing her along would definitely increase her chances of activating further powers. It would also make her friendlier with Shee, which would further increase those chances by ensuring that Shee's life being in danger would qualify as "extreme emotional duress".
>>
Just making sure, 18 is the stat limit for humans right?
>>
>>37451639
It would also help to bring Rainya on the list of Mothers Love, in case we ever decide to get that.

>>37451689
It is.
>>
>>37451689
Unless they have something that allows them to bypass that, such as Dev's Mighty Build feat, yes.
>>
>>37451699
Good idea, that one is a pretty good gift, and Rainya might actually be in 3 metres radius around us for a fight.
She does seem to look up to Shee a lot, which would help there. Not sure about others, maybe Kae manages to get there at some point, but that is far off, I think.
Not sure about Dev, its pretty hard to engineer that in his case, but once we take over the cell, it might work out, depending on how exactly that is measured.
