You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

Upon making it to Citrine and Marius's apartment, you were somewhat surprised to find that Agnes had already arrived before you got there (not that you're complaining, of course).

You were even more surprised to find that she brought adoption papers with her...

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a fearsome DIRE WOLF!
>Much larger than their the other types of wolf, the Dire Wolf's size also means that they are also that much more dangerous.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend!
>But while dire wolves are massive, they still don't -quite- stand on the same level as people.

"Th..." you gulp. "This is too much, I mean-"
"Reinhold?" Citrine places a hand on your shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"Y- yeah," you nod, "but like-"

Deep breaths.

"Y- you're really serious about this?" you turn to Agnes.
"Of course I am," Agnes replies, smiling warmly at you. "I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble for a joke, you know."
"I... I didn't mean it like that-" you stammer.

After taking a few more deep breaths in an attempt to calm yourself down, you wipe at your eyes with your sleeve and turn back to Agnes.

"It's just that... I dunno," you mumble, "we haven't even known each other for like two months and you're still willing to go this far for us..."
"All I'm doing is putting things the way they ought to be," Agnes replies. "If Volker was still alive then all of this would have been taken care of long ago."
"So this is like... formal? Official?" you ask. "So me and Citrine and you would all be..."
"We would be family in the eyes of the law, yes," Agnes nods. "And that would bring you both into the nobility so any opposition to you and Luciana getting married at some point would be taken care of before it even happened," she says, winking at you.

Citrine wouldn't be 'like a sister' to you anymore, you'd officially become family. And so would Agnes... and you'd even have a last name too. Overwhelmed by how sudden all of this is, you stumble back to a chair and take a seat...

"Well you don't have to agree right away," Agnes says. "I'll be staying around here for..." she looks at Citrine, "...the next seven months at least, so you have plenty of time to think it over!"

"Well I definitely don't have to think it over," Citrine says, covering her mouth while her eyes well up with tears.
"Y... yeah," you nod, trying your best to keep from choking up. "If you're serious about this, then I definitely..."

Having been holding back her tears all this time, hearing you give your approval to the adoption is the final thing that's needed to tip the scales and cause Citrine into a sobbing mess. She instantly reaches for you and starts crying in your chest... and then you feel yourself starting to break down as well.

While Citrine sobs into your chest, you put all of your willpower into staying strong for her. The tears are flowing down your own face, yes, but you're trying not to outright start-

"Now, now..." Agnes says as she wraps her frail arms around the two of you.

That more than does it for your own breaking point, and you start crying and Citrine's crying and then Marius walks over and tries to help the rest of you but then he starts crying too and there's just tears everywhere.

But for once, they're tears of happiness.

Fortunately for what passes for your ego, you managed to calm down relatively quickly. The others follow suit shortly thereafter, and you produce handkerchiefs for both Marius and Citrine while Agnes goes about finishing up the paperwork...

"Alright, it's all done!" Agnes proudly says as she signs her name on the papers with a flourish. "From here on out, you two are officially members of the Eschenwald family... as is Marius, through marriage," she says, winking at him.
"Thank you so much," Citrine says, giving you a big hug before scurrying off to the old lady's side. "Having you stay with us was wonderful enough even without this..."
"Y... yeah," you nod, unable to keep from smiling a big goofy grin.
"So 'Reinhold Eschenwald!'" Marius slaps you on the back out of nowhere. "How does it feel to suddenly have joined the nobility?"

"No," she shakes her head, "it's just that I want to be sure that they'll make it to the castle to be filed and all that. The last thing I want is for the papers to get lost in an accident and never find out," she sighs. "But I -would- like to get these filed sometime soon, and it's going to be over half a year before I head back home..." she sighs.

Do this in a dramatic fashion. Start by going out stonefaced and serious then when Luciana get's concerned surprise her with a hug and tell her the news.

After that introduce the loli to based grandma.

After unfastening your scabbard from your belt, you hand the entire thing to Agnes. Though she initially struggles a little with its weight (and you mentally berate yourself for not taking her age into account), she quickly gets used to it and gives the still-sheathed blade it a good look-over.

"Eh?" Agnes lowers her glasses and peers at the sword with her bare eyes. "This is -your- sword, the one that-"
"Yup," you nod. "But I got a friend of mine to fix it and now it's better than new."

Not one to just take your word for it, Agnes partially unsheaths the sword and takes a look at its edge... and gasps.

"Oh my!" Agnes says, wide-eyed. "It really was perfectly repaired!"
"Yup," you nod.
"I know this must have been a real relief to you..." she says, smiling as she hands the sword back to you."
"You have no idea," you sigh.

If she released him he would give information back to his employers at the least. He would more likely bring another attack like what happened later.

If she left him to his 'lawful' fate he would be executed on the spot.

He was either going to come back and harm and/or kill more people if we let him go or he was going to die to the law. The 'every life should be spared' moto is retarded and flies in the face of logic and common sense.

Would Celestino have given him trial with any reasonable chance of him getting off without being executed? The guy was already suffering from being crushed by the big stone hand anyway, would you prolong his suffering for the sake of a vanity trial, just so he could be killed anyway?

Sounds like you predisposed to take issue with the things Luciana does and your outrage is a result of a bias rather than anything actually substantial.

Unable to help yourself, you immediately wrap your arms around Luciana and hold her tightly.

"U- umm..." Luciana smiles weakly as she hugs you back. "...you're smiling, so I guess this something good?"
"Yup," you say, finally letting go of her. "Me and Citrine are officially brother and sister!"
"But I thought you were already..."
"Well yeah, but now it's -official-."

It takes a few seconds for what you're implying to register in the PRincess's mind, but soon she's covering her open mouth with her hands.

"Y- you mean-" she gasps.
"Yup!" you say, smiling. "Grandma here," you say, stepping aside so that Luciana can get a clear view of Agnes, "brought the papers, and it's not like I really had to take any time to consider it, you know?"

"Who might this young lady be?" she asks. "I thought that you and Princess Luciana were an item, but the way that you hugged this girl..."

You can hear Citrine giggling.

"Eheh..." Luciana sighs, "...allow me to explain."

Luciana reaches into her hair and pulls out a long pin that was holding her hair up As it tumbles back down to its usual length and style, its original red coloration practically flows back into it.

"Ah, so that's it!" Agnes laughs. "I should've known..."
"Yes," Luciana shrugs. "what with the attempts on my life, it's kind of dangerous to go walking around town with my primary distinguishing characteristic on display, you know?"
"Well your disguise was good enough to fool me, so I guess it's a success," Agnes laughs. "It's good to see you again, Princess."

"I thought you weren't certain of the child's gender yet," Luciana says. "When we were talking yesterday, you hadn't gotten that checked yet-"
"Went this morning, actually," Citrine says with a wide grin. "And I was right after all!"
"Yup," Marius crosses his arms. "We're going to be having a son."

"Congratulations," Takamaru says, nodding at Marius.
"Thanks," Marius replies with an embarrassed smile.
"Hmmm..." Agnes glances at Carina. "...oh, I never introduced myself!"

That's on you for getting distracted from doing so.

"Carina, this is Agnes, she's my grandma," you say, motioning to the old woman.
"Hello, Carina," Agnes says to the little girl. "How are you doing today?"
"Umm, I got to eat a lot and I saw a girl with bunny ears and it's fun being here with nice people," Carina replies. "And I get to wear pretty dresses, too!"

That seems to be her favorite part.

"...so she's staying with Reinhold?" Agnes asks.

"One of the maids back at the castle's been a huge help with getting her bathed and stuff," you say.
"Melanie's super nice," Carina says, "she gave me this pretty scarf and I'm gonna wear it forever 'cuz Reinhold said he likes it too."
"Is she the maid who got you all cleaned up?" Agnes asks.
"Uh-huh," she nods. "And her girlfriend's the prettiest girl in the whole castle too!"

Here we go again...

"Hey, Carina?" Marius calls out to her.
"Huh?" Carina blinks a few times.
"Do you like drawing pictures?" he asks.
"Sometimes..." she mumbles. "Reinhold draws stuff too."
"He sure does," he laughs. "But let me tell you, I draw stuff for a living and I'm way better at it than Reinhold is."

Carina seems to take offense at this.

"You do not!" Carina says, puffing out her cheeks.
"Actually, he really does," you pat her on the head. "I wish I could draw as well as he does."
"Whoa..." she gasps, her mind seemingly blown.
"How about I show you some of my drawings?" Marius asks.
"Can I?" she turns to you.
"Go ahead," you shrug. "Try not to touch anything though, okay?"
"'kay!" she says.

Luciana seems to breathe a sigh of relief as she watches Carina skip out of the room after Marius.

"Eheh, I was expecting something like this," Agnes laughs. "Ask away, Reinhold. That's what grandmas are for, after all!"
"Thanks," you sigh.

After taking a few moments to compose your thoughts, you begin speaking.

"I, well..." you mumble, "I honestly don't know what to do with her in the long run. With Carina, I mean. "....yeah..." you mumble.

Hearing her word it like that makes you feel almost ashamed.

"Inspired by a certain someone, I take it?" Agnes asks, winking at you.
"Kinda..."
"Of course, Volker didn't have a girlfriend to worry about angering when he made his decision," she turns to Luciana. "I assume that he didn't consult you first, right?"

"I hope I'm not coming off as selfish here..." Luciana says.
"Oh no," Agnes shakes her head. "I can't blame you at all for feeling the way you do."

That seems to put Luciana at ease.

"I could probably convince Arnaud to let her in as a trainee maid, but that doesn't seem right," you mumble. "Taking her out of that environment only to put her to work for us."
"Yes, yes..." Agnes nods. "If not for the fact that I'll be staying with Citrine for the next few months, I'd just offer to take her in myself."

Pretty much, I don't have anything to suggest because I don't see an alternative where everyone is happy. Carina could work as a maid but she really needs to have a childhood that we can't offer.

This isn't a fully thought out plan, but would it be possible to keep/teach the loli for now until she becomes of age to work, then hook her up as a castle maid?

I may be mistaken, but Rein and Luci's marriage doesn't seem like its happening in the near future, so befriending and taking care of the loli temporarily and helping her out until a later point?

Would the spell used to create the Sealed Kings would on other forms of life as well?

Has anyone tried duplicating the spell used to create them? If so, have they come close?

Thanks arch

Who would be best grandpa out of all the girls dads?

What girls would most likely wear sexy lingerie on their wedding night?
>>
>>37482832
Why does Reinhold play Marth in sm4sh but not in brawl? Or Ike in sm4sh?

>What girls
Probably Nico.

She's totally tsundere for frilly clothing.
>>
>>37482899
Luciana.

Marianne wears vaguely conservative lingerie. Still sexy if that's your thing.
Sylvie's are custom made to account for her body. They're made from bear furs.
Karel chooses them as boyish as possible.
Nico's are a thoughtful mix between girly and utilitarian but pretend that she doesn't give a damn about them.
Nobody knows what maids wear underneath their uniform.
Rana doesn't wear any underwear.

>What's your take on the Bad End discussion earlier this thread?
Epecially in something like this, I don't think it would be a good to automatically force a bad end on the players. That's just asking for shitstorms But with that said, things could get kind of hairy in the end and character death might be possible though if you play it right it might be averted.

>Have you given much thought to music/sound effects for the VN?
I'll probably go looking around for a musician while I'm working on the demo version (though the demo itself will all be free-use songs)
I'd REALLY like to get a fancy OP song done by a Japanese singer like Duca, but I don't know how possible that is.

>Will epilogue, assuming good end, take place at the wedding, several years in the future while adventuring, or decade/s in the future while family man?
This is kind of spoilery so I'll refrain from answering it.

>>37482879
>Sealed Kings need to kill people to get mana or what?
No. They absorb magical energy passively in much the same way as the crystal parasites.

>Would you do it for your swordwaifu?
This isn't Soul Edge.

>What would Reinhold be expected to do once he'll be married into the Marconetti family, job-wise?
Nothing!

>>37482891
>Would the spell used to create the Sealed Kings would on other forms of life as well?
Nope, and this fact was one of the things that led to the downfall of the person who created them.

>Has anyone tried duplicating the spell used to create them? If so, have they come close?
People have tried to duplicate the spell in secret because EVERYONE would murder them if they were discovered, but nobody's ever come anywhere near close.

>Who would be best grandpa out of all the girls dads?
Gregory would be super awesome grampa, vincent would be super fun grampa.

I am perfectly fine with this

This is important. There's really no understating how much this matters for setting tone on the fly.

It doesn't have to be Umineko's 16 HOURS of soundtrack or anything, but please, please at least SOMETHING.

It'll be archelon singing in grorious nipponese.

All the lyrics will be food jokes.

>What girls would most likely wear sexy lingerie on their wedding night?
Luciana and Melanie.

>>37482940
>Marianne wears vaguely conservative lingerie. Still sexy if that's your thing.
Yes.

>Sylvie's are custom made to account for her body. They're made from bear furs.
They're custom, but not made from bear furs because that's just itchy and gross.
They are pretty plain, though.

>Karel chooses them as boyish as possible.
Karel wears boy underwear.

>Nico's are a thoughtful mix between girly and utilitarian but pretend that she doesn't give a damn about them.
Exactly right.

>Nobody knows what maids wear underneath their uniform.
Lacy lingerie.

>Rana doesn't wear any underwear.
Rana wears cute panties. Like the stuff with mascot prints if those existed in this world.

Oh, I know that.

And now I sleep. Thanks for playing!

Eh, I guess I'll take it.

Obviously that's going to be the soundtrack in the developers' room scene after 100% completion.

>Karel wears boy underwear.
Even a boy bra?
>>
>>37482997
Eh, turns out I'm not too sloppy.

Sports bra, best bra.
