'It looks like I have no other choice than but to accept your offer, my friend!' You reply, rising unsteadily from your seated position. Though Mia looks like she could down a whole other bottle before she gets to your state.

'Good, good!' the lieutenant says, ushering you through to the door, 'I'll have your rooms prepared for you! They're a bit spartan and humble, but more than good enough to do you both for a night. I take it you will be sleeping in the same room?'

>Why yes, I can just sleep on the floor, it's less hassle for you and I wouldn't mind at all.
>Yes, of course, Mia just can't stand being apart from me for too long!
>No, no, two rooms. We're not together or anything!

'Of course,' you say, stumbling to the door and following the Thorpe, 'I can sleep on the floor while Mia takes the bed, then it's best to set off in the mornin''

God, your voice goes back to the uncultured ways of when you were a pirate when you're drunk, it's damned irritating!

'Good, and I'd better not wake up to find you trying any funny business, Huck.' Mia comments as you reach the third floor.

'Your rooms are right through here, my noble friends,' Thorpe says, motioning to the 4th door to the right.

'Ah, thank'ee Lieutenant, I'll bid you a g'night and we'll be off to bed,' you respond, walking through the door.

'Yes, good night, Lieutenant Thorpe,' Mia gives voice to your thoughts, but damn if you're not too drunk to function properly!

'Good, good, now I'll see you two in the morning!' Thorpe slurs, making his way down the stairs to his rooms.

>Go and help the lieutenant, he's in no state to walk down stairs unaided!
>Ask Mia to look after the lieutenant, you're in no state to help him! If anything, you're worse than he is!
>Leave it, he's a big boy, he can take care of himself.

'Hod...hold on, Mia,' you say, turning on your heels and walking back out the door, almost running into your companion.

'Wh-what is it?' she asks, eyes widening in confusion.

'W...we've got to help our friend, he won't be able to walk down all those stairs by himself, he might fall and break his neck.'

Mia smiles as you say that, 'God, Captain, never thought you had it in you to be caring about people.'

Gods, anymore compliments from Mia and you might just die of shock!

As you make your way down the stairs, one slow step at a time, you see Thorpe making his careful way down the stairs. 'Jack, friend, how about we help you down these rough stairs?' you ask, feeling sorry for you both.

'Wh...what? Oh, it's you, Huck!' he exclaims in surprise, almost missing the next step.

'Of course it's me, what are friends for, eh?' You reply, taking him on one side whilst Mia takes his other, gently helping him down the stairs and to his rooms. 'W-why thank you!' He hiccups as you reach his door, 'I r'lly 'preciate
it!'

Good Gods! He's worse at holding his alcohol than you are!

'By God Herself, that man is terribly inept at holding his booze' Mia comments as you reach your room, 'You'd never think he was a 30-something year old man, rather a suckling babe!'

She can sure handle her alcohol well, I guess being a bartender for any amount of years gives you good practice...

'I'll take th' floor,' you say in lieu of replying, 'You take th' bed, I'll sleep on th' floor' you repeat. You don't know why, but it's very important she knows you're sleeping on the floor.

'Okay, captain, I'll see you tomorrow.'

You're almost blinded by the sunlight when you awaken the next morning, with a crashing headache to boot! God, how could one man be so unfortunate!?

'Sleep well, captain?' Mia asks smugly from the bed.

>You're a right bitch, you know that, Mia?
>Like a baby
>Oh god, it feels like someone is beating a 10 tonne bell inside my head!

'Like a baby, ' you reply, not allowing yourself to give her the satisfaction of knowing how bad your hangover is.

'Of course,' she rolls her eyes. 'What is it today? We resting up some more, we going after the pirates?'

>Pirates, it's been too long since we've gotten rid of them.
>I need to ask the lieutenant for more ships to protect the waters around our old village first.
>We'll just relax here some more, see what comes up.

'First we'll go to the Lieutenant, there's something I need to ask him to do. Then we'll go and catch us some pirates!' you say with a grin as you walk out your door.

'What're you going to ask him?' Mia inquires, following you.

'I'm going to ask him for more ships to patrol the waters around our old island,' you reply, walking up the stairs with determination. Really, you've been putting this off every time you saw Thorpe, and by now who knows what could've happened to the village?

'Good!' Mia exclaims happily, 'I thought you would've just left them to die after how they've been treating you for the last two years!'

What does she think you are? Some kind of monster!?

'Of course not, contrary to your beliefs, I'm noy some kind of mass-murder defender or apologist.' You say rather stiffly, offended.

'Don't worry, captain, I don't make the same mistakes twice.' She says, clearly respecting you a bit more.

You knock three times at the lieutenant's door before hearing an answering 'Come in!' from the other side.

As you walk in, you notice the lieutenant hunched over his desk, filing paperwork.

Does this guy ever take a break from his work?

'Ah, it's you two!' He comments, looking up and rising to his feet. 'What can I do you for, my fine friends?'

'Well,' you reply, 'I was wondering if I could ask a favour of you.'

'Ah, and here I was thinking you were only after me for my company!' Though his tone is jesting, a wary look comes across his face.

'Don't worry, it's nothing major,' you say, moving across the room to him and giving him a wrist clasp, a traditional greeting for fellow warriors.

He looks rather relieved at that, though he's still a bit wary.

'I was wondering if you could have some more ships out patrolling the waters around Baterilla.'

'Ah, that, I'm afraid, I cannot do.' he replies sadly, 'I'm simply too undermanned as it is, and that's without providing more naval support to outlying villages and towns.'

>Shit, I guess I'll have to take down the pirates in the area before I can move on, then.
>That's alright, I'm sure they'll be fine!
>Damn, is there no way?

thinking about it this was probably our best chance, 5mil beli didn't get us much, it probably would of done less outfitting an entire village
