Hi and welcome to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest!

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest we sorted out the magical loot we got from the Defense Battle and from the Prostasia vault! Decisions were made about what to trade and what to keep, such as offering Russia some Prostasia inventions in exchange from contents from their own vault.

For information on characters and old threads:

After sending out Nalika to arrange the meeting of her brother, a high noble Wrath Demon, you decide to set off towards the church to see how the patients are healing up in there, such as Mina and Amelia.

“Ah! Paladin Teresa! So nice of you to meet us!” you say waving to her.

“Oh it is truly nothing Dutchess Brooklyn. We’re no longer in a state of emergency so I should be able to deal with your questions in a more direct fashion.” Teresa says, wearing what appears to be a simple common’s dress, a nun’s headpiece, and a somewhat bloodied apron. “Supplies have been running a bit short, laundry is terribly backed up by we’re managing at least. But please, do come in!”

“I heard from your report that most of the Celestian forces in the city have been taken care of yes?” you ask her.

“That is correct yes. We believe that we’ve captured all of the major Adventurer groups within the city and have defeated most of the angelic army. We have some occasional cells, but they are fragmented and easy to handle without higher leadership.” Sister Teresa replies as you walk into the church.

The Church of Pamille seems to have changed quite a bit from even a day ago. Most of the loud screams of pain and help are now gone, only replaced with the dull moans of people now used to their pain all while Church clerics and city doctors tend to the wounded.

“Where are they being kept?” you ask.

“The only place where we have enough room to keep them. Rebecca’s Old Underground City.” Teresa replies.
>>
[2/2]

“Wait what? Isn’t that akin to giving a cat a flock of canaries?” you ask.

“Rebecca’s hatred is towards the Pride Demons, not so much as Celestia. The angelic Prisoners will be safe there, but we’ll need decide on what to do as we cannot keep them indefinitely. Lower ranged angels such as themselves won’t last more than a year outside of Celestia.” Teresa says with a depressed sigh.

“Plus we really cannot afford to be feeding an enemy army when our own food is likely to be a concern.” Wilhelmina adds.

Knowing Rebecca she probably doesn't intend to feed them...
>>
>>37533876

Lets not waste resources on the angels, what can we do with them without using up much?
>>
>>37534015

Killing them or freeing them would both be light on resources.
>>
What about ransom?
>>
>>37533876

Business before pleasure.
we separate the reasonable adventurers from the zealots. The zealots can be used in the production of that Aether wine thing which half of we can take to the queens shrine. The reasonable ones can either be directly employed by us doing things such as guarding caravans, clearing out groups of Pride demons, moving on Celestian groups from our territories, ect. Those who do not want to work with us but understand their current position can leave on the premises that are Banished from our lands...
The Angels can be questioned on the off chance that they might say something interesting, then either sold into Rebecca's Slave trade or we could just sacrifice them to the queens.
We should personally question the arch-angel before giving her to the queens though... might find out something important...
>>
>>37534411
Already dealt with the adventures

We can just mindrape the power with Janine
>>
“Question them for what they know, then Rebecca can do with them as she pleases.” you casually reply.

“Very well, I shall inform Rebecca about this matter.” Teresa says with a bow. “The Adventurers are being taken care of as per your request. The ones capable of being discharged were sent to the Fighter’s Guild for processing while Arum and the Subota’s are taking care of rogue magic users. They shall be fined for the damages upon this city before being evicted from Old TO.”

“And the Archangel?” you reply.

“Still in serious condition, but stable. It’s unlikely we’ll get a response from her for some time. I understand your eagerness to gather intel, but we must not pressure the patient. Too much and we could cause her to pass away long before we get anything from her.”

“Fair enough.” you reply.

“Oh yes! I also have some good news. Matriarch Ishtar has made a full recovery. When you have the time, she would like to meet with you in private.” Teresa states.

“Mina will understand if I am a little late, I do not wish to keep the Matriarch waiting.” you reply.

“This way then please.” Teresa says as she escorts you up to the upper levels of the church. Stairs becoming just as common as knights in armour as you continue to advance upwards until you finally reach what you believe is the top of the rather large church. Once at the top, the guards turn to open the doors for you.

The next room inside appears to be a mixture between an office, study, and holy room. The massive stained glass window showing the image of the Succubus Queen Pamille as she rises up from a magic circle. Ishtar is on the ground, dressed in a nightgown while praying before the stained glass window.

You give her the silence you imply that she wants, with her standing up several minutes later. “I thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come and see me Dutchess Browning.”

“No it’s mine. I haven’t formally thanked you for all that the church has done for us.” you reply.

“I do not deserve your praise Dutchess Browning.” Ishtar says, turning around to notice that her face appears to be far worse to wear, as if she hasn’t slept in days. “I personally did not take part in the battle, nor have I done anything since my time in captivity. What good is a leader if she doesn’t attend to the forefront of her flock’s needs. You have shown that you have the best traits of Pamille inside of you while I do not.”

“Matriarch please, you do not need t-”

“I thank you for your concern Paladin Teresa, but I am capable of doing this at least.” Matriarch Ishtar says with a small nod towards Teresa. “For the crimes I have performed are of my burden and my burden alone.”

“Crimes?” you ask, suddenly become far more wary.

“I am not who I say I am Dutchess. I am a fraud, false prophet, and a leader who is built on lies.” Matriarch Ishtar says. “I am not an Aide. I am actually a Belkarian.”

“Then how did a Belkarian come to be the leader of the Aides?” you ask.

“That is because Matriarch Ishtar was the leader of the Aides long ago, and I am not Matriarch Ishtar. Long ago I was a lost soul whom Ishtar actually helped, but during an assassination attempt that the Pride Demons attempted during the earlier days of the Science Lord wars, I took the place of Matriarch Ishtar in spirit, in order to lead the forces of the church to defend against the tyrants who saught to endanger our kind.” Ishtar lets out a heavy sigh, turning around as she walks towards the stained glass window, her fingers running along it. “When Deus tortured me, I confessed to who I actually was. Right now I live in fear not for my punishment, but for the succession battles that will happen to the person who will become the next Aide Leader.”

Ishtar has a point about this. While you can suggest candidates for an Aide Leader, the Aides would have every right to tell you bug off and let them pick their own representative. While you don’t need to worry about someone like Beck becoming the leader of the Aides, at the same time the multiple challenges that Aide’s will issue to one another in order to become the leader will waste time, resources, and even possibly lives.

“My time since the torture has been spent in deep reflection about my thoughts, intentions, and actions. As ruler of these lands, I submit myself to whatever punishment you deem fit Dutchess Browning just... please make sure the followers of the church and the Aide’s are safe no matter what your decision is.” Ishtar says as she looks out the stained glass window.

"...have you fought off at least one challenge to your position since you've assumed leadership of the aides? and who are the potential candidates for the aide position. I may not be able to short circut the aide leadership battle, I know one person who could if need be."
By talking to the leading candidates of course, not by making some sort of public statement.
>>
>>37536700
works for me.
>>
>>37536388
"You've lead this church for centuries, so don't think that you haven't sacrificed something. You know the tenants and you work to live with them, so you are faithful. You're expressing regret...

I'm not sure if I would be the best to judge your actions, but you've kept the church together under the Pride Demon's heel. Just because you aren't an Aide doesn't mean you can't lead the church.

I sentence you to carefully make sure those who deserve it move up the hierarchy with a minimum of bloodshed as best you can and to carefully take stock of yourself and find out who YOU ARE. The church will not begrudge you this time and if you make sure things are stable enough before you declare your identity, the Aides should reform themselves with little waste.

Finally, I sentence you to ask for help if you feel it would help. You've spent enough time trapped like this."
>>
>>37536388
"Your punishment is to ask forgiveness from the aides for lying to them but not for leading them. Who among them could deny your leadership, love for the church and efforts towards Succubus in such turbulent times. Then you shall yourself handle the succession battles , whether you desire to lead again will be up to you."
>>
>>37536388

"Teresa, has your opinion of Ishtar changed? Do you take grievance to what you have learnt?"

I would like for Ishtar to see us later so we can call up Janette and get her opinion on it, because I believe that we deferred introducing Ishtar to the fact the queens are still around due to the fear of the Aides instantly mobilizing on a Crusade type campaign and letting that 'secret' become open knowledge...

"...Have you fought off at least one challenge to your position since you've assumed leadership of the aides, and who are the potential candidates for the Aide position? I may not be able to short circuit the Aide leadership battle, I know one person who could if need be." you ask in reply.

“I have been challenged a few times over the years, thankfully very little but I have.” Ishtar replies. “I do have some members in mind, but the topic of Aide leadership has come up very little since people often put such trust in me.”

“You do always get the young upstarts who think they’re fit for the position, but often lack the power to do so.” Teresa says with a soft sigh.

"You've lead this church for centuries, so don't think that you haven't sacrificed something. You know the tenants and you work to live with them, so you are faithful. Yet you're expressing regret.” Wilhelmina says. “I'm not sure if I would be the best to judge your actions, but you've kept the church together under the Pride Demon's heel. Just because you aren't an Aide doesn't mean you can't lead the church.”

“Oh that I don’t disagree with. It’s how I lied to the people of the church for centuries on who I was. I’m not from a noble birth like Matriarch Ishtar was, I’m just some lowly thug who she helped show the light.” Ishtar proclaims.

"Teresa, has your opinion of Ishtar changed? Do you take grievance to what you have learnt?" you ask.

“Actually I’ve known about this since the beginning, but I choose to remain quite. In my own opinion, this new Ishtar is the embodiment of everything the Old Ishtar was. While she may not be an Aide, her actions were always guided by the people of the Church and that of the Aide race.” Teresa declares. “From what I heard, if it wasn’t for Ishtar than the Church of Pamille would’ve been destroyed during the Science Lord Wars ages ago.”
>>
>>37537353
I'm inclined to let her keep her job, but frankly, we need to talk to Janette about this, since not consulting her about this issue is rude and stupid.
>>
>>37537560
>we need to talk to Janette about this

hat does sounds like the best option, we don't need this solved today right? Just soon
>>
>>37537353

"Well, it seems like the course is clear. You will remain in charge of the Church of Pamille, and once things have settled down a bit, we can look at separating Aide politics from the Church... But until then, I am counting on you, both of you, to keep things here running"

I would like to introduce them to Janette when possible as Ishtar seems to be having a mild crisis and who better to give the final word about Aide leadership than the Aide's queen?
>>
>>37537353
"As far as I'm concerned, your place as head of the Church and the Aides is not in question, you've been doing a more than good enough job, regardless of whoever you may have been centuries ago, that doesn't change who you are today, you may not be the Old Ishtar, but you are our Ishtar. Let me think on this matter and I'll get back to you very soon, but currently I'm leaning towards letting you keep your position, as long as you come clean to your clan, and seek forgiveness from them."

then do >>37537560 I'm also tempted to do >>37537003
after we get Janette's opinion on this.
>>
>>37537600
Well, the pride demons may know, so they'll undoubtedly try to use it.
>>
>>37537633
For now, she should consider what SHE wants to do. Leadership is tough, but if she can't even be herself, why even keep up the charade after a certain point?

Should we perform the communication ritual so she can talk to Janette about various successors for the Aides? This could be what she's been looking for (a way to remove herself from the church).
>>
>>37537753
I doubt at this point its a charade, its more likely she is being herself
>>
[1/3]

"As far as I'm concerned, your place as head of the Church and the Aides is not in question, you've been doing a more than good enough job, regardless of whoever you may have been centuries ago, that doesn't change who you are today, you may not be the Old Ishtar, but you are our Ishtar. Let me think on this matter and I'll get back to you very soon, but currently I'm leaning towards letting you keep your position, as long as you come clean to your clan, and seek forgiveness from them." you reply.

Ishtar gives a heavy sigh. “I’m just worried that the Pride Demons would somehow use this to their advantage. I never meant to even let the potential of more war and strife to follow in my wake.”

“I believe you Matriarch Ishtar. Only a fool would say that you did not have anyone’s best intentions at heart.” Wilhelmina claims.

“Do you have any idea when the Pride Demons would use such a piece of information?” you ask Teresa.

“I can’t say when but how and why. Aside from the confusion it’d sow amongst the Aides, which do make up the largest bulk of our population and army, the Pride Demons could also use this chance to plant spies during such confusion rather easily.” Teresa replies.

You take a small breath as you lean back. “I’m going to ask Janette’s opinion on this. She is the Aide Queen, so it would be foolishness for us not to ask her opinion on this.”

“I’m... going to get something to drink while you prepare. I have a feeling I’m going to need it.” Ishtar says as she heads off to her restroom.

After summoning Janette and explaining the situation to her in it’s totality. The battle with Celestia, who Ishtar really is, and the current problem with the Aides.

“Hm... Yes I can see how this can be quite problematic.” Janette says as her image sits on a chair, deep in thought.

“...Forgive me for asking my Queen, but why are you in a bikini.” Wilhelmina asks.
>>
[2/3]

“Annual swimsuit contest.” Janette replies.

“But... Who ju- OK just nevermind.” you reply. You’d do odd things too if you were in a prison cell for nearly five centuries.

“I’m sorry Queen Janette, words cannot express my condolences for what I have done.” Ishtar says as she remains bowed on the ground, as if groveling for forgiveness. “I submit myself to whatever punishment you or Queen Purple deem fit.”

“Purple is going to stay out of this, as it’s within my domain.” Janette replies. “As for your punishment, I don’t think I can punish someone who has maintained order within my clan for nearly a quarter of a millennia, someone who is also beloved by all. If it were not for the Pride Demon’s knowing of this as well I would even promote your rule until I was released from my cell, which we could’ve had a far more quieter transition. No punishment shall befall you from ruling the Aide’s in my absence nor your impersonation of Matriarch Ishtar.”

“But what about the defense of Old TO?” you ask.

“That is what I am more concerned about. Old TO may be in excellent shape in terms of defense, but single spy or wetwork operation could disrupt the entire operation.” Janette replies. “The Pride Demons won’t release this information now, as much as they want to see you gone from Old TO they want Celestia there even less. Until they’re sure Celestia no longer poses a threat they will not release that information. We can use this to our advantage in the meantime. Have your Laminian friend Arum gather information on all of the strongest Aide’s in the city, including those who are their masters.”
>>

[3/3]

“Are you actually considering using such a thing against the future Aide Leaders!?” Teresa gasps in shock.

“No. I want to know who the strongest Aide’s are and who their masters currently are. If either the Aide or their master have any ties to the Pride Demons I *do not* want them as the Leader of the Aide’s. Use whatever means necessary to remove them from the picture if you believe that they have a chance at becoming the ruler of Aide’s in Old TO.” Janette replies. “Hopefully by the time Ishtar comes clean or the Pride Demons leak the information, we’ll already have a good idea on who is eligible to become the Aide Leader.”

(Anything else you wish to add?)
>>
>>37538314
"This might seem odd but I think it warrants asking; what if the Aides want Ishtar to stay on as the leader of their clan?"
>>
>>37538314

Ask how they like their angel wings...
>>
>>37538314
Worth noting that technically Teresa can become an Aide by act of will due to her Vanilla nature, and as the 2nd strongest succubus in the city she would be able to easily win and retain leadership. While I hate to bring up things of that nature, the option does exist as a last resort measure.
>>
"This might seem odd but I think it warrants asking; what if the Aides want Ishtar to stay on as the leader of their clan?" you ask.

“Then who am I to go against the desires of my people?” Janette asks. “Legally an Aide could very well attempt to maintain control, but if enough Aide’s felt strongly enough, particularly powerful ones, then Ishtar could very well remain in control, at least until it is safe to make my presence known.”
>>
>>37538992
I'm pretty sure we'll find a better solution.
>>
>>37539025
"Well then for now we had best focus on finding any the Pride Demons may have their teeth sunk into, and gaining the support of the more powerful Aides."

If theres nothing else to do we should go visit Mina.
>>
knowing the aides any battle for succession would last weeks....

problem also is that the pride demons all they need to do is brainwash or kill/replace an aide's master to gain a foot hold. totally broken aides spy.

considering that is probably the easiest thing to target it makes it problematic. Could ask the lamians leader to keep an eye out just in case. we should also probably inform the other leaders of the situation at some point so they will not be blindsided. However it would be up to Ishtar if and when she wants to.
>>
>>37539226
>Could ask the lamians leader to keep an eye out just in case. we should also probably inform the other leaders of the situation at some point so they will not be blindsided. However it would be up to Ishtar if and when she wants to.
Yeah, we should do those
>>
hmm, having a non Aide, who the Aides trust, lead the Aides could be a good thing, because they can't get broken like the Aides.
>>
>>37539917
wrong on so many levels.
>>
>>37539967

>>
>>37539971
Non aides are easier to break than aides.
>>
>>37539971
Any Succubus can be broken m8
>>
>>37540000
but if they do get broken, an Aide is utterly fucked and I imagine Ishtar is not easy to break
>>
>>37540019
yeah, but its worse for Aides if they do get broken
>>
now you have me thinking of the master paradox. two aides each declare that each other is their master.
>>
>>37539971

All Succubi can be broken. it is just Aides need to have a 'master' to be comfortable, kind of like how Belkerians need to keep their promises otherwise they end up in a bad way, like Fredrika was... Every clan has a social tick, Aides is that they need a 'master', but for that they get magic, combat and regen buffs, they also are harder to break when they have a 'master'...

Hell, Janette is 'broken' to Oksana... all we will be doing is screening for a Aide who doesn't have a dick/trator/spy as their master...

“Then the best we could do is just warn the other leaders about this upcoming problem. I’m hoping that by the time this becomes a problem we’ll have some temporary soldiers to tie us over.” you reply.

“I’ll ask Arum to begin the investigations into the other important Aide’s within the area. She may find out something that we don’t already know.” Teresa replies.

“Always another storm it seems.” you mutter.

“It was like this shortly before the Pride Demon invasion of Earth too.” Janette replies.

“Words cannot express how regretful I am over this.” Ishtar says while still on the ground.

“You’re a Belkarian who promised Ishtar that you’d keep the Aide’s safe. You’ve done a fine job so quit beating yourself up over a lost promise.” Janette states.

“On another note, I do have some more bad news Brooklyn.” Teresa states.

“Is it catastrophic?” you ask.

“No, but we’ve gotten reports of how the Miyian University handled the invasion.” Teresa says. “We have confirmation that the Draugr fighting at the university to defend it.”

You sigh deeply as you hear this.

“The good news is that we confirmed that it was also killed during the combat.” Teresa then says with a slight hint of happiness in her voice.

Yea that’s only going to slow it down...
>>
>>37547993

>>
"Well it will only stay dead for so long until its back, we really need to get around to dealing with it and Beck soon." you reply.

“Probably before you become more powerful and it becomes even more of a threat.” Wilhelmina replies.

“It’s already a massive threat. In fact if it wasn’t dead I’m pretty sure it would’ve tried to kill you after the battle.” Janette adds.

“Is that creature after Dutchess Brooklyn directly?” Teresa asks.

“Yes, but for goals in the way you’re not thinking of.” you quickly reply.

Teresa takes a second to process this, looking shocked before quickly recomposing herself. “Y-Yes well, the Church of Pamille does allow healthy and open relationships between students and masters, but they also encourage you to settle such disagreements without bloodshed.”

“Disagreements? What are yyyyyyyyyooooooooo-” your voice drags on as you realize what Teresa meant, assuming you and the Draugr were once Student/Master and Lovers. The very mental image of you having sex with your old body makes you feel wrong in ways you couldn’t even imagine.

“I WOULD NEVER, EVER HAVE SEX WITH THAT THING!” you state, before taking a deep breath to calm yourself. “I need to head off to see Mina now, but I thank you for your time, all of you. Janette, I’ll leave you here in case you need to discuss anything.”

“Very well, I’ll need to discuss some things with Teresa and Ishtar anyways.” Janette replies.

“Good day Lady Brooklyn.” Both Ishtar and Teresa say to you as you leave.

As you descend down the stairs, you notice that Wilhelmina seems a bit distracted by something.

“Something wrong?” you ask her.

"Probably, I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be, though they can get mighty bored sometimes and get up to all sorts of antics." you reply. “Just smile and nod with their ideas is all.”

“Very well.” Wilhelmina says as she follows you down the stairs.

After heading down to the next set of rooms, you head down to where Mina is being kept, a semi-private room with some injured VIP’s. As you enter you see Mina sitting on the bed reading what appears to be a book written in chicken scratches. She still has a blanket wrapped around her, but she doesn’t appear to be constantly shivering like before.

“Mina! You look so much better!” you say in a hushed voice while walking over to her with open arms.

“Brooklyn!” Mina says as she stands up, walking over to you with open arms as well. “I’m sorry that I couldn’t come back to the castle!”

“My bones! MY BONES!” you quickly call out while inside of her grip.

“Oops! S-Sorry about that!” Mina says quickly letting go.

“Don’t... Don’t worry about it Mina. Everyone got a little roughed up in that fight.” you reply by patting her on the head.

Mina gives a large sigh as she sits back down on the bed, a pout on her face. “Yea but for others it was honorable scars. For me it was just me freezing in the middle of the battle. I can’t even recall anything up to a certain point...”

“Enquiry, you cannot recall anything?” Wilhelmina asks.

Mina shakes her head. “The last thing I recall was our group agreeing to head down to the center street to deal with Adventurers coming up from the underground. I’m wondering if I got hit by a psychic attack or something...” Mina says scratching the back of her head.

just remembered something before I'm about to collapse; Brodin needs to hurry up and get Brooklyn on board for the plan for saving and succubutting Excel by bringing her to the queens temple, killing her and keeping her soul safe in their astral prison. I don't know how long it would take to travel there from Old T.O, but we should probably get Luna to open a portal for us nearby so we can get there fast as I don't know how much longer there is until Fate says Excel has to die, but we need to get her to the queens temple and secure her soul safely and intact within the queens prison and their protection before Fate decides to fuck her and us over.
>>
>>37549493
derp, pressed enter too soon

once Excel is safe with the queens we can get them the resources and aether they need to do the ritual they did on us, to transform her into a succubutt and give her a new body, then we can respectfully deal with her old one and ensure another Draugr doesn't come about.

im blathering about this now because I really really don't want to wake up and catch up and find out that something fucked us in the ass and fucked things up for Excel.

“I... recognized one?” Mina asks.

“From what I understood yes. You were in shock upon seeing them.” Wilhelmina replies.

“Shock? Then why can’t I remember... Remember...” Mina says as suddenly her face appears to be stricken with panic, her hands rush to her face as she grits her teeth, as if trying to fight through some sort of invisible pain.

“Ugh... My head...” Mina says as she holds onto her head.

“Excuse me Dutchess, do you mind if I have a word with you in private?” a nearby nurse asks.

“But Mina i-”

“She’ll be fine for a few moments, trust me.” The nurse says grabbing your hand and nearly dragging you away from Mina and to the outside of the room.

“Is there something wrong with Mina?” you ask the nurse.

“Yes, and I’m going to have to ask you not to jog her memories.” the nurse replies as she closes the door. “Mina’s mind is trying to repress the memories from yesterday, and anytime she tries to recall memories from yesterday it pains her to do so.”

“Inquiry, are the memories repressed.” Wilhelmina asks.

“Yes, we believe they are. We had some Ayarians try to investigate, and we know that such details are linked to her childhood somehow.” the nurse replies. “It’s incredibly likely that one of the angels from yesterday caused her significant pain in the past. Physically, mentally, or both. Her mind suppressed those memories, but when he reappeared it caused them to flood back into her all at once.”

"So then how can we help her heal? What happens if that angel reappears in the future? I doubt he will never come back and I care too much about Mina to let her languish like this and be vulnerable for the next time something jogs her memory." you reply.

“The issue with things like this is that by applying too much pressure to a patient, permanent damage would be done to their mind.” the nurse explains. “Such things need to be brought back gently.”

“But this hardly makes any sense. Mina told me about her past before, she never acted like this before.” you explain.

“Did she explain her early childhood?” the nurse asks.

“No, just after she gained her Succubus powers.” you reply.

“Then that’s why. Her trauma, according to the Ayarian nurses, originated back when she was a child.” the nurse explains. “It’s suggested that you try to avoid talking about the battle when she met the angel or make sure that she doesn’t encounter it for the time being, as a few things could happen.”

“Such as?” you ask.

“First is that her mind will break. Resulting to such things as a coma, hallucinations, or rejection of reality. The other is that upon receiving a large shock to her system... she will be cured as she had faced her fears.” the nurse explains. “Either way is going to be fairly traumatic, as all the memories that were sealed within her will come flooding back.”

I see. Well, no need to make her face them now.

"While I would prefer that Mina have time to slowly come to terms with this, is there some way I can help prepare her in case she is forced to face her repressed feelings?" you ask.

“Being there with her is the best solution. Mina doesn’t have to face this alone, and so long as someone is there with her when she encounters her fears and pasts, the better things will turn out.” the nurse replies. “However we have been wishing to try something, but at the same we’re wondering if it will be effective.”

“What do you have in mind?” you ask.

“We were wondering whenever we could attempt to access the repressed memories Mina has in a controlled fashion by hypnosis.” the nurse replies. “Normally we’d ask for the patient’s consent, but we fear that mentioning the true reason for the hypnosis treatment may cause her undue stress, so with her having no next of kin then the default would go to you, her Lord.”

“What are the risks?” you ask.

“There is a small chance of damage, but it’s incredibly minor. Hypnosis involves suppressing most of the subjects more extreme emotions, allowing us to gradually recall memories that have been hidden rather than let them flood back all at once.” the nurse explains. “We do the procedure often and have several experts, but ultimately the decision is up to you Dutchess.”

"Do what you can to prepare for it and notify me so I can be present." you instruct.

“Very well, I shall do what I can Dutchess Browning.” the nurse instructs.

“When will she be able to leave?” you ask.

“We would like to keep her one additional night to make sure that she doesn’t enter a remission of some sort.” the nurse replies.

“Very well, let’s do that.” you reply.

You enter the room, give Mina a big hug and a kiss, telling her enjoy the rest she has now because when she gets back you’ll be loading her up with an assload of work such as thinning the massive challenger list that you have currently going for you. After a small goodbye, you and Wilhelmina depart the Church.

“Where shall be off to next Dutchess?” Wilhelmina ask as you climb down the stairs of the church.

“The castle. As I said I’d like to start thinning the challengers out, possibly met up with a few of our group to see how they’re doing.” you reply. “I’m thinking th-”

In what seems like a flash you’re pushed aside by Wilhelmina, your own instinct kicking in as you quickly reach for the axe at your side. Just as suddenly however you can see Wilhelmina’s blade flash by in front of you, a scream of pain breaking the calm of the midday afternoon.

Nearby citizens stop to see what the nearby commotion is, the conversations starting just as quickly as you notice the severed hand holding a knife nearby on the ground. Looking up you can see what appears to be a Succubus wearing horn warmers clutching the bleeding stump of her hand, tears coming out of her eyes.

“Are you alright milord.” Wilhelmina asks as she offers you a hand up, just as you can see several Church guards rushing down towards you as well.

Thank Wilhelmina, Inform the guards that once the disarmed Succubus has received treatment, she is to assist in the reconstruction efforts.

“I’m fine Wilhelmina.” you say standing back up, dusting yourself off before turning towards the guards.

“Dutchess, are you alright?!” the guards ask.

“I’m fine, take her to the church, if they can save her hand, let them. I want to find out why she wanted us dead enough to try assassination.” you order the soldiers.

“Yes milady!” the guards say as they grab the injured Succubus.

Wilhelmina walks over to the hand, taking the knife out of it before handing the hand to a guard. “...Milady, it appears that this knife was poisoned.”

“Poisoned?” you ask.

“Yes, that appears to be the case.” Wilhelmina says as she runs her fingers up along the knife, before rubbing her index finger and thumb together against some unknown substance.. “My guess is that some people are getting tired of waiting for their official chance to battle you.”

“Or some who wish to take the cheap way out.” you reply as you look around, seeing concerned stares from all of the nearby citizens.

Deal with some challengers.

Hold trials/give sentences to prisoners.

Things we will be dealing with as they develop:
Making sure the Aides are taken care of and that Ishtar can reveal herself if necessary.

Mina's repressed memories.

“Let’s head back to the castle then, I want to see if I can at least knock down this stupid challenger list a little.” you say to Wilhelmina.

“Yes milady.” Wilhelmina says following behind you.

“God damnit, I hate this armour...” you say walking out into your throne room while in your demon lord armour.

“I think it fits your body very well.” Wilhelmina comments. “I... just didn’t think you were into voyeurism.”

“Mother bought it for her.” Nalika comments.

“While I thank your mother for it, I don’t like how it rides right up my ass...” you complain as you try to adjust the material behind yourself.

“I think that was the intention it was designed with Lady Brooklyn.” Erika says.

“I just wish it was something little more respectable like Wilhelmina’s...” you mutter as you sit on the throne.

“...Wait... Where am I? This isn’t the bar I passed out in.” Brodin says as he slowly stands up.

“Nevermind the bar! We need places everyone! Appearance is everything, and I want to make a good first impression!” you say sitting down in your chair. “Now! Open the door and let the first group come forth!”

Just as you say this, the doors seem to explode open on the other side. A small group of adventurers rush through the door.

“Your reign of terror ends today Queen of Seduction, for today we fight you to free our commmmmmrrr-”

The knights valour seems to wane as him and his group stare down a Reaper, a psychic ranger, a Wrath Demon, your magic samurai, and yourself on the throne. All of your collective bloodlust seems to literally pour off from the throne and onto the opponent’s below.

“...I-Is that a Wrath Demon?” one small girl wearing a kimono asks.

“I may be a dragon, but I think we’d have our hands fighting one of them, let alone all of them...” another young girl with black dragon wings says in the background.

“...Yes Dutchess! Sorry for bothering you!” the group says before scattering away.

“COME BACK WHEN YOU PRACTICED YOUR HEROIC SPEECHES!” you roar out to them as they leave.

“What just happened?” Brodin asks.

“I have no idea who they were...” you say sitting back down in your chair with a sigh.

“No not who, what am I doing here. I have no idea why I’m here or what’s going on.” Brodin says in a confused tone.

“Whatever, just send in the next one...” you mutter as you wave your hand.

As soon as you say that, the very Earth seems to shake below your feet, sounds of a rumbling avalanche getting closer and closer to you with each and every passing second.

Looking up towards the entrance, this time you can see what appears as an incredibly large and fat creature, though judging from the shining armour plates on his armour and the large sword behind him, this guy isn’t exactly a pushover like the last group.

“Dutchess Browning I presume.” the figure speaks, his low voice similar to the sound of rumbling stones.

“Yes, and you are?” you ask the large creature.

“My name is Olik Mountaincrusher of the Spinesnapper tribe.” the orge says as he pulls out the blade from out on his back, easily bigger than you are tall. “I am here to take your life.”

This guy gets a pass.

"Well, I would like to keep it, so we are at an impasse. Therefore, we shall duel." you say as you give a small flick of your wrist, summoning up a squad of soligrams in front of the Orge.

The soligrams attempt to rush the massive creature, one of them getting lucky when it throws it’s axe at the creature to hit a weak point in it’s armour. The Orge however doesn’t even seem to flinch at the attack, taking his blade and swinging through your soligrams all in one swift and expertly placed blow.

You give out a low whistle. “Someone knows great cleave.”

Upon swinging his sword, the Orge then throws out something on his belt towards you. You quickly roll out of the way, a cloud of thick dust surrounding the throne as he begins his charge towards you.

OK honestly that would’ve been a good plan if you didn’t see through dust and smoke already.

This thing is big, but you wonder if such a creature would be able to stop himself if he actually fell down.

You quickly summon up some shadow tentacles around his feet, running them taunt in order to trip him up. This stops his advance easily, which lets you focus on the second part of your attack, quickly summoning up a field of darkness spikes below him as you attempt to impale him on the ground.

The entire castle ground shakes as the creature falls to the ground, fragments of darkness skittering in the air before fading to nothingness. As the creature fell, his armour took the majority of the blow, crushing the darkness spikes below him, with only a few spikes managing to get into the seams of his armour.

Shit, magical armour. There’s no way in hell a mundane armour source would’ve been able to withstand that.

As the creature stands up his hand lashes out towards you, barely giving you enough time to roll out of the way as his massive hand crushes a pillar near your throne room. You wince slightly as you picture the stone pillar actually being your body.

Taking advantage of the smoke that is still surrounding you, you dive back into the misty depths and summon up an explosive soligram copy of yourself. You quickly then alter your own form, melding with the shadows before shadowporting over to a quieter portion of the room.

Thankfully the Orge seems to buy it, swinging his sword at you and decapitating a stone pillar just as your soligram self manages to dodge it just by a hair.

The rest of your allies seem to be sitting by on the sidelines, waiting loyally in case you are in dire need.

You attempt to have your soligram minion attempt to try and blind the Orge, but the Orge shields himself with his blade as the bright light bursts from copy’s hands.

Gritting your teeth, you begin to pepper the creature from afar using Annihilator shots, pelting him with explosive blasts.

Potential to rank 8-10 (the last few ranks aren't cheap), Diehard, Continuous Action, Lionheart and it's Aura are all things that are useful. Augment Summoning for better Solidigrams as well (Physical would increase their combat prowess, Magical might increase their explosion power).

All of those sound good to me, we've got good magic offensive powers with our controls, but we need utility and survivability stuff like these right now.

Potential + Diehard give us powerful defensive AND offensive options, Lionheart means fear checks don't fuck with us (and the Aura means our friends and allies aren't either, plus it fits the story's theme quite well).

something i have been toying around with is possibly upgrading aether sight so we can see spirits.

but it is very low priority compared to other stuff we need.

I think a few more points into Aether Sight would be nice, along with getting into Fate or Time Control.

So, to reiterate, I'm voting for:
>Potential Rank 10 - 425 DP
>Diehard - 125 DP
>Lionheart Aura Rank 2 - 175 DP
>Continuous Action - 380 DP
1105 / 1165 DP

Physical augmentation helps with soligram tarpiting, which seems to be a staple of our strategy.
