Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you pissed off a spirit and tore up some furniture.

You try to relax, closing your eyes and taking deep breaths. It sort of works, but this fucking headache won't go away. Every few seconds pain shoots through your head, pulsing white light creeping in around the edges of your vision. You start to feel dizzy, your stomach twisting itself into knots. You stumble away from the banister, anger forgotten as the world starts to spin.

You must have passed out for a little bit, because when you next become aware of yourself you're slumped against the wall with your head held in your hands, knees pressed against your chest. Your head still throbs, but so long as you keep your eyes closed and don't move it's not too bad. You think the relative quiet and lack of light in the abandoned estate is helping, though you're not really certain. You're not entirely sure what it is you're experiencing.

You pull your hands away from your face, pain flaring this time not from your temples, but from where shards of wood have embedded themselves in your flesh. You wince, taking the time to pluck out each one and heal over the wounds. The expenditure of vys is insignificant, though the effort brings back your headache. Once that's done you condense some water from the air and use it to wash the blood off of your face and clothes.

You have to force yourself to focus on the connections afforded to you by the brooches, contacting your party members as a whole. All you manage to force out before closing the connection is {I've gotten everything resolved in here.} Any more and you fear you might feel yet another hammer blow to the side of your head. Fortunately the pain seems to be receding, you might even be able to stand up soon.

You hear the door swing open somewhere beneath you, chattering voices echoing through the cavernous empty spaces that seem to fill the estate. You can pick out a few vague words, but nothing distinct.

Darzi's voice calls out from the entry hall. “Mikhael! Where are you?”

You're wince, the sound of her voice seeming impossibly loud. You haul yourself to your feet, supporting yourself heavily against the wall as the world starts to spin again. “I'm up here!” You call back, though to you your voice sounds weak.

It's only a few moments later that Darzi comes meandering up the steps, taking her time to admire the statues which line the stairwell. She frowns at the sight of you, pausing at the top of the stairs. “Shit, Mikhael. You look terrible. What happened?”

>You're fine, head downstairs and help repair the estate.

Tell them not to do or touch anything while we're out of commission.
Hopefully we'll handle it quite fast, let's just have them clean up somewhere unimportant, like a kitchen or something.
>don't throw any tools away

Basically just sweep the place a bit, maybe get rid of cobwebs, they shouldn't displace anything until we give the okay to it.

Channeling magic, you push yourself away from the wall. Your headache subsides as veins mend themselves and swelling recedes, though it does not disappear entirely. You find that the world stops spinning and you can stand a little more confidently on your feet. White does not rim your vision, though your vision still seems to be distorted. There are strange rends sitting in mid air, twisting off like hazy, oblong bubbles in mid air. They seem to sit in the same position regardless of where you look or how you turn your head, so you're inclined to believe they're hallucinatory or otherwise not actually there.

You realize you've been staring off into space for quite some time without answering Darzi's question. “I feel fine, it was just a headache. I think it's more or less passed.” You have to suppress the urge to wince at the sound of your own voice, pain flaring up once again only to recede when you've stopped speaking.

Darzi frowns worriedly, hesitating a moment before she speaks. “Are you sure? You look sickly. If you wanted to rest I could take over the directing of the laborers.”

You gesture vaguely off to your right. “Later, maybe. I want to give you all a tour of the facilities and see if there's anything that needs to be purchased to fix this place up. Wood, paint, that sort of thing.”

Darzi nods, and the two of you make your way down the stairs to the entry hall where the others have gathered. You find Profectus curiously tracing some of the runes which mark the shrine you constructed for the spirit with his finger, where as Chrys has already wandered off into the ballroom. Skull Kid and Mortia are sitting on the edge of the central reflecting pool, chatting amongst themselves in a language you don't recognize. Neither Fulvia nor Zahak are anywhere to be seen, so you assume they're still in the carriage.

I don't think its the books doing actually, I just think the spirit is REALLY pissed off.
This book seems to be incredibly important to it, it also fears and hates the void, and now after technically fulfilling our contract the first thing we do is take that book and put it right into the void.
The spirit is probably mad and/or scared as fuck.
>>
Your slaves are mostly gathered in the center of the room, some of them seem quite impressed with the place where as most seem to look hesitant. Prema stands with her hands clasped politely in her lap, absentmindedly admiring the decoration even in its currently somewhat decrepit state.

You decide that, as your steward, you ought to bring Prema along to assess the state of your new home. It will be a good first test of her abilities. First, you want to get your slaves put to work. First you turn your attentions to Prema. “Unlock their manacles, no sense dawdling.” Then you address your slaves as a unit. “For now all I wish you to do is clean up, don't begin any extensive repairs quite yet. The servant's passages are upstairs, there is an entrance open so you should have no trouble finding them. Search for any useful supplies in there to get started. If you find anything strange, or anything that you feel may be magic, don't touch it. Inform myself or one of my companions.”

As you speak, Prema goes from one slave to another with a key in hand, unlocking their manacles. The sounds of chains hitting the floor echoes through the room, causing you to wince as pain flares up at the back of your head each time. There is a tense moment when all the slaves have had their manacles removed, for a second you think they might try to run off, but then Prema lets out a shrill, high-pitched whistle and they jolt into motion. You step aside to let them pass on their way towards the stairs.

You stop Prema as she moves to follow them. “I want you to follow me. I'm going to give a tour of the estate to my companions and I want you to take stock of anything which we'll need to repair, as well as how much the materials to do so will cost.”

She nods, and you consider whether you want Fulvia to bring Zahak inside. Inevitably your slaves are going to see Zahak, that is if you spend any significant amount of time here. However, you're not sure if you want them to see him now. You still don't quite trust them to keep their collective mouths shut.

I don't really see another way, we'll be here for at least 2 days and he can't stay in there forever.

The spirit doesn't fear the Void at all, dude. It's just that the presence of Ricky(a Progenitor/Elder) would have destroyed his mind world when inside it, it doesn1t have to fear anything in the real world as much.
>>37550856
>>Just have the two of them stay outside for now, no reason to risk scaring anyone.
Also, don't want the spirit to get any ideas once he sees a living dragon.
Or if we could have Zahak come in invisibly, then that's fine, and hide him somewhere where we forbid the slaves to go to, like a bedroom.

The question is why the spirit wanted it unlocked? He mention being trapped for a long time (I am not sure if he say a century or what). Still we should instruct the slaves to stay way from the library, (our) office and the observatory. We should check the tunnels and vaults as well.

Books were meant to hold information and being afraid of what information it could hold is stupid. If we going to be this paranoid we might a well stop adventuring entirely.

For all you know that could mean the information it contains is even more valuable than any of the books we currently have. Even Soma said he was rolling for what information it contains.
>>
>>37551252
It also seems highly suspicious even from the rather casual examination we got from it (living entitiy, numbs our limbs on contact). Going by your logic of "for all you know" any random piece of paper we pick up in the street could have invaluable information, you're ignoring all the auxiliary information. Every single thing we have found out about this book points towards danger.

Also Soma never said he was rolling for the information in it.

Oh I do want to open it eventually, from a safe distance as you said, the opportunity to do that hasn't really presented itself though but I think once we take the book out again the majority of people would support that take of action, we all want to find out what this book holds.
But since you're already starting to throw generalizations and insults around you just kinda seem stupid and butthurt, as if that wasn't already clear from your earlier argumentation.
>>
>>37551452

I will check Homeless Mutant, Hellborn. But have try to get into Aspiring Emperor before but I can't get pass the first 3 threads.

Guys, it's pretty clear last thread's temper tantrum had nothing to do with whether or not we opened the book. It happened because we didn't just accept that shit really was as easy as it seemed. If we'd just left the cat alone, none of it would've happened.
>>

I have read further in Aspiring, to where MC went against the nobility nation from where the spoiled princess is from a bit, as in took a castle or something, but then I haven't read it since. The smut got a bit too silly as well.
I guess I should try getting into it again sometime, but I find it hard to make time, I still need to catch up the last 6 or so threads of HMQ as well, not to even mention Hellborn, I think I'm behind with like a dozen or so.

Meh, I think he's more resistant to our antics.
Still, let's try to be a bit more civil this thread and take some more time to discuss our action instead of just choosing the options we're given, we got so little done last thread.

>>37551643

>>
>>37551688
I agree
>>
>>37551621

Yeah it wasn't great, but for AE it's almost every thread.

The cast is so complicated, and both the combat and character interactions rely so heavily on guessing/deciphering various clues about everyone's motives that it seems like everyone's on a different page.

The last real big "Oh shit is this quest over?" moment was when we came up with a plan to give some dude some meaningless compromise which helped us more than him, and one of our allies got super pissed about it. The QM explaining it after the shitstorm kinda sorta made sense in an overly complicated, shoulda read my QM notes way, but it sure was outta left field for me. That hasn't really happened here yet.

Well, they're going to see him eventually. You may as well get it over with. It's not like anyone would actually take the word of a slave, a foreign slave at that, over the word of their master. If they go blabbing about Zahak being a dragon, there are a plethora of large lizard species you can point to as an excuse for their mistake.

You reach out to Fulvia via the brooches, finding the action far more difficult than usual. You actually have to focus for a few seconds before you feel the presence of her strange, alien consciousness. {Fulvia, once you've seen that the camels are cared to bring Zahak inside. I don't doubt that it will be quite a shock for many of our new staff but we may as well get it over with.}

She responds immediately, as she usually does. {As you command. The camels have already been unhitched though we lack either feed or sufficient fresh water to keep them contented.}

Huh, you'll need to remember to pick some up whenever you head out to finish your shopping. It's only a few moments later that the front door swings open, Zahak standing on his wingtips on the other side. He hesitates at the doorway, Fulvia standing behind him, and takes a moment to look around curiously. He sniffs at the air, and flicks out his tongue to taste it. Finally he steps inside, but it's only cautiously. He's dropped into a low crouch and begun to stalk across the floor, like he's hunting for something.

You're not quite sure what it is he might be hunting, but you suppose it's not really any of your business. Hopefully he'll kill some of the rats you've seen scurrying about the premises. You turn your attention briefly to Fulvia, addressing her. “I would be grateful if you kept an eye on him. Explain to any slaves who you encounter that he is merely a species of winged lizard, they shouldn't know any better.”

Not yet I think, we just gotta apologise and treat em with respect. I still wanna get our master to make a covenant with it so he has spirit protection (and any of his friends that are interested in enchanting, if we ever decide to spread the info more), but it probably won't happen.
>>
She nods, and begins to follow Zahak as he wanders around the room. Occasionally his tongue flicks out to taste the air again. Eventually he wanders off into the kitchen, and out of sight. You suppress a knot of parental worry. He's a dragon, and he has Fulvia with him. Surely he'll be fine.

You address the rest of your companions via the brooches. {Alright, everyone. I'm going to give you a tour of the facilities I've discovered so far. Supposedly below the estate there is a vast network of catacombs with access to sea caves further along the coast, where there is supposed to be a smuggler's den of some sort. I've yet to find the entrance to these catacombs, but I've found most everything else this place has to offer.}

Chrys quickly appears in the ballroom doorway, wiping some dust off her hands. The rest of your companions merely stand up and join you at the entrance to the dining hall. You take a moment to explain what's behind each of the doors branching off the foyer; the one to the right of the front door is the kitchen, the one to the left is the ballroom and lounge area, and the one directly in front of the front doors is the dining hall.

Then you lead them deeper into the manse, up the stairs to the second story. You pause a moment to inspect a few of the statues, reading the names written beneath. Most of the statues appear to be nobles long ago dead, although you spy a few names you recognize as prominent but non-noble merchant families in the area. Most of the names you recognize correspond to families which have fallen from grace, or otherwise lost their family fortune.

You start with the bedrooms on your left, moving from room to room. You explain that these are most likely bedrooms for guest or permanent residents outside of the previous owner's immediate family. You're still not entirely sure if this was a guild headquarters or some rich man's home, though. They might be offices for all you know. Regardless there are nine in all, more than enough to accommodate your party.

Prema seems quite distressed by the state some of the rooms are in. Some are in quite good shape, a little tidying up here and there would be enough to call them serviceable. Unfortunately, most have massive gaping holes in their walls, and claw marks on everything. As if some great beast was let loose to tear the rooms to shreds, or trapped inside and attempted to escape. You've little doubt that these bedrooms will constitute the bulk of your expenses in terms of repair cost.

From there you move on to the library, giving them a walk around the stacks. It seems to be in fairly good condition, all it should take is some tidying up to put it back in working order. Prema remarks on the now broken desk that once sat at the center of the room, but simply remark that it was like that when you got here. It's not like anyone else has seen the place and can say otherwise.

You do note that some of the books show sign of rot, or mold. You'll need to do a comprehensive inventory and get rid of any books that have been ruined. Fortunately the vast majority are in good condition. Most of the titles are simply mundane histories, works of fiction, or autobiographies written by ancient Shahs and powerful Vatis. Nothing terribly interesting, but perhaps worth looking through if you get the chance. There are quite a few magical tomes as well, but most of them are basic treatises you've already read. Some look interesting, especially a book regarding advanced Earth magic techniques, but you'll need to come back to them later.

After that you move on to the study. You don't venture in very far, instead deciding to hang around the doorway. You explian that the mirror seems to warp and twist the reflection of any who stare in it, but that you don't think it has an real magical power. It's just strange and you'd rather not risk anyone falling for it's tricks. You explain that up the ladder lies a vast observatory, but you're not quite sure you're up for the climb in your current condition.

Between the door into the study and the next door to your right, there is a depression in the wall which leads into the servant's passages. You skip over it, in favor of the next proper doorway. You've no idea how extensive the servant's passages are and the last thing you want is to get lost. Opening the next door you're struck by a wave of heat and humidity. Stepping inside you find yourself in some sort of extensive greenhouse. It's terribly overgrown, but still quite beautiful. Mortia grows visibly excited at the discovery.

“Look! Look they've got Widow's Wail!” She points to a scraggly plant with small white flowers. “Oh! That's Soldier's Solitude!” She points next to a massive golden bloom growing off of a thick stem, almost more like a trunk. “Gods above and below! This is perfect!”

Well, you suppose you're glad she's happy? You just sort of thought it looked pretty. Apparently it's an herb garden. Regardless, the vast gardens seem to serve as a bridge between this part of the building and the portion of the building which lies on a small island not actually connected to the main land. You haven't explored that part of the building, yet. You're not entirely certain you wish too, but decide now is as good a time as any.

This posting thing is really starting to annoy me.

Crossing through the gardens you keep having to stop so that Mortia can lovingly caress some flower or weed with either medicinal or poisonous properties. She's like a child in a confectionery. Regardless, you eventually manage to work your way over to the doorway at the other end of the greenhouse and step through. You find yourself in a vast open space. The building seems to simply be one giant tower. A spiral staircase winds its way around the edge of the building, platforms obscuring your view of what lies above.

The level you're on seems to be a art studio of some sort. Half finished sculptures and covered paintings lie scattered around the area. Skull Kid and Chrys both seem vaguely interested in the area. Heading down a level you find yourself descending into a vast darkened chamber, the air growing cold. Profectus' arm cracks open, casting strange red light across the room in odd, shifting patterns. Crates lie scattered about, and at the center of the room is a trap door.

You heave on the rope, the rusty hinges of the trap door complaining loudly. You find your companions crowding in around you to get a look, and as Profectus shoves his arm inside the room is illuminated. It seems to be some sort of underground cellar. You spot a few burnt out torches and a number of wine cask. One must be leaking, because the room reeks of alcohol. Mortia points excitedly to a collection of glass vials and bowls. “Alchemy equipment! I'm glad we've found some, I couldn't bring more than a few essential with me.”

Closing the trap door and making your way once more make your way up the stairs, winding your way around the tower walls. You discover an armory on the next level up, which is filled with a vast array of weapons and armor from a wide variety of different cultures. Unfortunately none of it is magical, you imagine it was intended to equip a contingent of guardsmen, and much of it is rusted. Still, what's usable is in good condition.

Finally, at the top floor of the tower you come across a fairly extensive forge. The floor here, unlike the level below, is stone. The forge itself is of course cold, but most of the tools one might need to craft a sword or armor lay scattered about the place. Skull Kid takes a moment to look around before remarking. “Sweet shit, I should be able to get a lot done in this place.”

seems like our party may get a bit busy now. and will start to spend some money buying things they may need.
And it is nice that we have slaves they can use at their own discretion. To help them out with moving shit around and generally making life easier.
But they should also invest in the house. have them give in some cash for restoration of the hose and upgrades. Have them talk to Perma about what they may want. And so long as it stays on their "turf" it shouldn't bother anyone.

You make your way back down the steps to the green house, crossing the walkway back to the main building. This place is much larger than you'd initially thought. You wonder what else you'll find before the tour is finished. Eventually you emerge on the second story balcony and move on to the next door in your rotation. The door opens into a narrow spiral staircase, a wave of heat and moisture striking you much the same as it did when you opened the door to the greenhouse.

As you descend the stairwell you find yourself entering a changing room, beyond which lies an extensive bathhouse. It's modeled after the Rhynian tradition, with both hot and cold baths as well as a steam room at the far end. You imagine the steam from this room is used to keep the greenhouse humid, and upon inspecting the ceiling you find a number of vents. You're forced to wonder how the water stays hot, and just how mold-clogged those vents have become.

You ascend the stairs and finally move on to the last door on the second story balcony. You already know what's behind it in a vague sort of way, it's the master suite. Pushing the door open you find a curious room. For one thing, there are mirrors all over the ceiling above the bed. You've little idea what their purpose might be, it's not like you could watch yourself sleep. Additionally, there is a fireplace against one wall and stairs leading up to what looks like an additional library.

You recognize a number of the familiar tools of a Vatis. All sorts of strange skulls, measuring sticks, carving utensils, ink wells and stacks of blank parchment. Portraits line the walls, none of them of people you recognize. Family members of past owners, you imagine. There are also additional rooms branching off of the main bedroom, four of them to be exact. Presumably they would house the wives or mistresses of the owner, or simply serve as additional storage space.

I think I know for sure what's causing the migraines, or at least, what has contributed to it greatly. I've been going through all of the threads trying to tabulate our past, present, and future goals to develop some sort of schedule, and in the first few threads I found something alarming.

Meta note, Vys Levels:

>Vys Pool: (5/11) You're starting to feel a little tired, a little depressed. Meditation might be in order soon.
30402434
>Vys Pool: (4/10) You feel a little weaker, a little depressed. The life's been drained out of you to some extent but it shouldn't effect you in combat.

Apparently, when we're at 50% vys, we start to feel "spiritually weaker." Now knowing the nature of vys and it's connection with our soul, I would hazard that using up lots of Vys means losing spiritual defense and vitality, leaving us vulnerable to the influences of corruption, the entity, the damn cat, or what have you. Thoughts?

While many of those items are important and I'm all for learning/doing them, the order in which we do it is open to debate. In my opinion a very pressing task is to learn the Confuse and Hallucinate effects, so that we can counter it with Manipulate. The thing the spirit did last thread might have been an attack with Hallucinate. And our party should learn some effects soon, above all Manipulate (and Paralysis, Poison, Confuse) in order to resist attacks with those effects, also Range and Leech.

It may be a contributing factor, alongside our lack of sleep.
As for the situation itself I felt it was really odd so I looked around for a bit in the previous threads and have found that at least in regards to the entity what we've most recently experienced doesn't match up even slightly.

The entity has always been something that's trying to supersede our mind and actions, slightly altering the minute details of how we observe things before shortly inserting its own wankery opinions into the greentext options, on top of it surfacing to mentally harass us and call us insignificant every time we fought it back coupled with its image and all of this had none of that, none of its megalomania was present or alluded to or built up to as it was in every previous interaction.

So I don't think it's the entity, as all the warning signs are different and distinct from the flavor text and results of its assaults.

I think it's either of two things that have more going for them;
Something similar to what you suggested that causes long term problems for vatis who deplete their reserves too regularly, in which case we can just ask Master Karim via brooch to easily confirm or deny, he would know about something like that.

Or it's the influence of the only consistently available void-creature, our affectionate Ricky from within his humble abode, due to us wearing the cloak all the time. Given the repeated void corruption images and what they allude to it's the most obvious conclusion, and considering how recently we were surrounded by three void creatures for surgery & dindin the possibility is fairly indisputable; we've been in the direct presence of three of them, while our body was submersed entirety within the void itself. And that is after our obvious long-term (though sporadic) contact with Ricky.

(1 of few)

When we threatened it and it made the house fall apart around us. It could have been real, or hallucinatory, or half-half.

Another thing, were are going to meet Palaka worms, that's a given. We think (know?) they find prey by sensing vibrations of the ground. In one of the books (Master Rostam's journal?) that guy wrote about tremor sense. We might want to try to learn that and inverse it, so that we can project tremors to another place, like 100 meters away from us, as a decoy against worm attacks.

To save time I suggest we first ask if Fulvia knows anything regarding void creatures or the void itself corrupting mortals, though we already know its possible given the enemies the Varistha faced and the Samjan corpse that resulted from our first Void Creature fight in the mines of Longia, more specific information would be better. Scanning Sehzades notes for more about them, and of course taking a deeper, harder look at that mirror in the study or searching for notes on what it is specifically designed to do.

As for actually dealing with it if it is the source of our little problem; If it's just a madness effect then we can get metal mental reinforcement so long term interactions or proximity to the void doesn't cause us problems, if its separate as its own unique thing called 'corruption' then we'll have to make some other countermeasure to continue using the cloak. What's really lacking for us is just the specific mechanics by which it occurs, and after finding that out we won't have to suffer some inevitable total defeat from having the best item in the literal fucking universe.

So it looks like y'all are definitely meditating, but we're tied between sending Fulvia and Prema together or just sending Fulvia.

VOTE
1
To send Prema and Fulvia, you'll be able to get an idea of how good Prema is with money from Fulvia upon their return.

VOTE
2
To send only Fulvia, you know for a fact she's good with money and Prema can help to direct your servants.

Meditating on what the fuck happened/your emotions/your mental health seems pretty popular, so I'll go with that.

Okay! Now that all the voting is wrapped up: I'm going to say that Frosty gives a bonus to this sort of meditation, meditating on shit that happens or what's up with you internally. I'm justifying this by saying that Frosty helps you observe things objectively, and to account for all the facts. Makes you more methodical in your thought.

That in mind, roll me 3d10+8 (+6 from traits, +2 from method) vs DC 20.

Certain temples devoted to Pani admire the life-giving qualities of water and the goddess' association with fertility. So yes, there is a prayer book similar to the Kama Sutra focused on what one should desire from life, how both nobles and commoners ought to conduct themselves, practical advice regarding sex/foreplay, dating advice, the duties of a husband to his wives and of a wife to her husband, how one ought to conduct themselves around the wives of others, how one ought to conduct themselves with prostitutes, and various vaguely occult rituals hinging or focused upon sex.

With anti-magic I mean stuff like maybe it's made of certain metals that are highly resistant to magical influence so metamagic effects don't work through it, or extra padding with some sort of special material that weakens the effect/impacts of commonly used spells.
You know, anything that would give you a mechanical advantage if you go wizard hunting, which I imagine these guys would do, not straigh up "anti-magic" mumbo-jumbo that is just as much "magic" as magic itself.

You turn your attention to Prema once you've taken a good look around the master bedroom. “So, how much do you think it ought to cost to repair this place?”

She frowns, glancing around the room. She spots the stacks of clean parchment and various inkwells sitting on the writing desk and gestures towards them questioningly. You nod, and she takes a seat at the desk. Retrieving a quill and dipping it, she starts to scribble away. She seems to be compiling a list of materials needed to restore the place to its original condition. You spot wood, paint, glue, cut stone, mortar, along with various other raw materials and tools. Next to each she writes out a number.

Eventually she draws a line across the bottom of the page and sums the numbers written to the right of each item on her list. Finally, she speaks. “Well, I will need to speak with some of the others and get an idea for what was in storage in the servant's passages, but I believe that all of the materials necessary should cost roughly twelve hundred silver. The high cost is due to the present price of lumber in any usable quantities. Almost the all of the recent shipments from the east have been seized by the Shah or bought before it even entered the city's gates.”

Wood has always been exorbitantly costly in Pidjata, seldom few trees of any worth grow in the deserts. Most of it is imported from the far eastern edge of the Shahdom's territory, where it borders the forest of Elaudia. However, shipments from the east are often taken by raiders or the forces of the Samrat. The difficulty of finding lumber in the desert is at least partly the reason why your family's trading fleet once outnumbered the Shah's Navy by several dozen ships, your family have always been wealthy enough to secure lumber from overseas, where it's significantly cheaper even after the cost of importing it across the sea.

(1/2)
>>
She clears her throat, distracting you from your thoughts. “Now, that's the cost to simply restore the estate to it's past glory. If you were interesting in adding additional ornamentation, it would not cost much more to do so. With sixteen hundred silver, I could buy a woven rugs and bolts of silk to ornament the place. With eighteen hundred your guest would dine upon silver plates with golden cutlery. With two thousand, I could have the furniture in the bedrooms replaced with vastly superior furnishings.”

You glare at her, mildly suspicious. It seems to you like she's making a sales pitch, not exactly what you're looking for from a slave. “Regardless, I'll be sending Fulvia with you to ensure that the money is not wasted. No matter how much you're given I expect a significant amount to be left over. That being said, I'll give you...”

Well, we don't know how far advanced Aleamond actually is, if that one priest from a few threads ago is to be believed (eh) pretty far.
They could have a few tricks up their sleeves that we aren't prepared for, and anything unknown on the first encounter, even to a high level wizard, might be rather dangerous. It would probably be easy to counter once you know what it is but if they're good enough they'll make sure you don't have a second chance.

I mean they have to have SOME way to keep their territory magic clean right? Otherwise any vatis that is strong enough could just waltz in there amd seize control.

Let's fix up their specific areas, like the forge for skull kid and the green house for Mortia, and perhaps ever get 1 to 2 specialized servants to help them, like slaves that have specific training in gargening and smithing.

Maybe ever get a nice kitty bed for the cat.

You tap your chin contemplatively for a moment before turning your attention to your companions. Profecuts has sprawled out on the bed – your bed you suppose. Chryssa is inspecting some sort of animal skull, at least you think it's an animal skull. It's only got one horn and that horn is on its nose, but it has the look of a canine skull. Quite strange, considering you don't know of any dogs with horns. Meanwhile Darzi and Mortia have wandered off to inspect the books on the shelves of the library, while Skull Kid is inspecting some of the portraits hanging on the wall.

You reach out to each of them simultaneously via the brooches. {So, I'm discussing the cost of repairing and upgrading our new estate with Prema. What we've planned so far is to decorate the dining hall and the ballroom, and replace all the furniture. If there is anything specific you want, anything in particular you're looking for, you may feel free to contribute your own funds.}

Skull Kid turns to face you. “I think I'd-” He seems to remember that he can speak to you mentally, and corrects himself. “Right, hang on.” His voice filter through your thoughts only moments later. {Sorry, still getting used to this. Anyway, I'll pitch in... well, I mean. I don't really know how your money works. How much is a thousand silver? Is that a lot? A thousand ay-woo wasn't really much money where myself and Mortia lived.}

{A thousand silver is pretty damned significant. You're actually richer than most noble houses right now. If all of us combined our wealth, only the Shah himself would be able to rival us in terms of spending power.}

(1/?)

>>37557865

>>
Skull Kid starts to speak again. “Hot fuckin' damn, man. That's cool as-” He stops himself. “Fuck, okay. Give me a second.” His voice once more pushes through the connection afforded to you by the brooches. {Sorry, sorry. In that case I think I'll give... I don't know. I'll just match your investment. Two thousand silver to enhance the forge and the art studio we saw in that tower. Oh, and hire a blacksmith. Don't buy a slave though, I'll pay his wages from my own pocket. I just need someone to teach me the trade. I'll also put six hundred towards improving the living conditions of your staff.}

Chryssa's voice filters through once Skull Kid's finished. {I believe I would like to invest... five hundred silver into turning the base of the tower into a sparring room. Wooden weapons, training dummies, a padded floor, and whatever else she deems is necessary.}

Darzi perks up at the mention of a training room. {Oooh, good idea. I'll put two hundred towards that project as well. Oh, and I'll toss another two hundred into Skull Kid's project to improve the conditions the slaves live in.}

You bite your tongue, you hardly think the slaves need eight hundred silver put into the living conditions. They'll be living like kings! You don't want them to grow lethargic, spending their days in the lap of luxury.

Mortia seems to be deep in thought, but eventually you hear her voice echo through your skull. {I want to invest... uhm... three thousand silver is a lot right? How much does glass cost? Well, whatever. I want to invest three thousand silver into expanding the alchemy workshop in the cellar, and hiring gardeners to help me tend the gardens, and to buy various supplies I think I'll need. Oh, and for books as well. So many books... Anyway, I guess buying servants is fine too, but I want to make sure they're experienced gardeners. Some of the herbs I want to have planted are notoriously fickle. At least, that's what I've read.}
(2/?)
>>
Profectus is the last to speak. {I don't know, I'm pretty content with what everyone's said so far. I guess... I wouldn't mind having the bath remodeled. Oh, and I want her to buy some good opium, I've found the stuff to be delightful. Other than that, I can't really think of anything. I guess... a thousand silver should cover it.}

Fulvia contacts you simply to say. {I desire more up to date maps of the world, from all across the land. They must mark political divisions and be fairly comprehensive. This should require no more than a hundred silver, which I will contribute.

You do some quick arithmetic, tallying all of their donations. Total, you have twenty six hundred from Skull Kid, five hundred from Chrys, four hundred from Darzi, three thousand from Mortia, a thousand from Profectus, and a hundred from Fulvia for a total of seven thousand six hundred silver. With your own two thousand silver investment, that's nine thousand six hundred silver. Gods above, that's a lot of money.

You next determine how much money is going to each project, securing a piece of paper and a quill and setting it out on paper. Your companions are putting two thousand silver towards enhancing the forge and art studio. Eight hundred silver towards improving the slave's living conditions, seven hundred silver towards building a sparring ground at the base of the tower, three thousand silver towards alchemical equipment and the greenhouse, a thousand silver into remodeling the bath and buying opium, and finally a hundred silver into buying maps.

You hand over the list to Prema, who's eyes steadily go wide as she reads it over. By the time her hand reaches the total at the bottom, her hand has begun shaking. “Gods above, where on Earth do you keep all this money? Do you own a bank? How am I going to carry all this with me? Ten thousand silver...”

(3/?)
>>
>>37557865

>>
You clear your throat. “Nine thousand six hundred, technically. It's only six hundred and forty gold, although I probably won't put it all into gold.”

She nods her head, seemingly still somewhat shell shocked. You do some additional calculations on a separate piece of paper to determine how much money you'll need to extract from your friend's various stashes, or at least the ones that you keep in your cloak. {Mortia, I'll need two hundred gold from you. Darzi, I'll need twenty six gold and ten silver from you. I have the rest of your funds in my cloak, and will extract the appropriate amounts. By the way, if you ever want some money just ask me, I'm keeping it for you after all.}

You set your cloak down on the floor, focusing on the amounts of money you need from each companion. All the arithmetic has brought back your headache in force, despite the relative ease of the calculations you were performing. Regardless, when you whip away the cloak a chest sits on the floor containing four hundred eleven gold and thirty five silver.

Prema seems likely to feint, but none of your companions seem all that impressed. Darzi adds her own contributions to the chest, where as Mortia simply frowns. “I left my belongings on the carriage, I'll walk to the gate with them and toss in what I owe before they leave.”

Prema seems to find her voice, finally. “I'll be taking the carriage, of course. I cannot simply wander the market with a chest filled with gold. I'll be sure to keep these budgets in mind when making my purchases. Thank you.”

Why am I getting so excited over home renovations?
>>
She tries to lift the chest, but finds it too heavy for her to manage. Fortunately Chrys steps forward and picks it up as if it weighed nothing at all. As your companions begin to separate, you reach out once more via the brooches. {I'm going to meditate, I've had this terrible, terrible headache all day and I don't think I'm fit for manual labor. As for the rest of you, help with the repairs in whatever capacity you're able. It will improve our status in the eyes of the servants.}

Once your companions have finally left the room, you swing the door closed behind them using a simple spell and move to sit in front of the fireplace at one end of the room. You heap a few ancient, dust covered logs into the fire place and ensure that the flue is open. Once you're satisfied that you're not going to fill the room with smoke, you light the logs with a wave of your hand. The heat is comforting, although the light seems much harsher than usual. Regardless, you close your eyes and begin to center yourself.

As the world acquiesces to the ebbs and flows of ambient vys, you focus on your own current health. To be specific, you focus on your mental health. That sudden flash of anger earlier was quite unlike you, as was the terrible headache that followed. Normally you would dismiss it as the meddling of the Entity, but it felt quite different from the sudden urge you'd felt to kill when previously influenced.

You find yourself looking at yourself from a strange angle. Your consciousness seems to be slightly above and in front of your actual body, which is sitting stiffly before the fireplace. You note that your vys isn't... well, it isn't quite arranged properly. It's not evenly distributed. There is of course the dense concentration of vys in your torso, which as it stands currently is growing steadily brighter as vys from your surroundings collapses into your reserves.

There is also some vys concentrated in your arms and legs, though not nearly so much is in your core. However, there are only a few bare tendrils extending into your head. They seem frayed, and threadbare for lack of a better word. Curious, you try to channel vys into a simple spell, creating an orb of pure light without either flame or heat in front of you. Vys flows through you as normal, so you don't think it has any connection to the strange irregularity in your head.

You let the spell drop and sink deeper into your meditative state. Slowly, the ambient vys fades away. For an instant the world is black, until in a flash hundreds of thousands of flickering lights fill your vision. Like an untold number of candles blanketing a field, they flicker and dance about. The souls of more than a million people. It's a surprisingly beautiful sight, and you're surprised to see quite a lot of variation in the colors the glowing points of light take on.

Of course, the vast majority are glowing in hues of bright gold, orange, and yellow. Much like your own, which is golden. Your dragon's soul is of course a massive, swirling red orb. You also see that each of your various artifacts has a blue orb at its center, save for the cloak of course. Your cloak has no soul at all, leading you to believe it may not actually be enchanted. Regardless, you see dozens, if not hundreds of other blue balls of light dancing out amongst the expanse of the city. Vastly outnumbered by the golden orbs, of course.

You also see a single green ball of light, far in the distance in what you believe to be the East Slums. In what you believe to be the palace, there is what appears to be a dull black stone. It doesn't glow as the other orbs do, but moves around in such a way that you believe it to be a living creature. You see a few white orbs among the city's populace, though you can't imagine what that might mean.

Forcing yourself to focus, you turn your attention to your own soul. You note that it doesn't shine quite as brightly as the others around you. It seems to be somehow reduced, or otherwise depleted. The golden color of the orb has drained away, leaving it more of a yellowish-grey. It's curious, and disconcerting. You assume this is the cause of the frayed vys around your head, and therefore the cause of your headache. You can't imagine what might have caused your very soul to lose its luster.

You sink yet deeper into your trance, a vast glowing network of thread slowly fading into view. It seems to fill your vision, stretching on infinitely no matter where you look; up, down, left, right, front, or back. You see that the threads which pass through your body seem strangely askew, especially the ones passing through your cloak. It's as if they come out the other side at a different angle than the one they entered. You're not quite sure what to make of it.

Slowly you withdraw from your trance, reality reasserting itself as the blackness fades away. When you open your eyes once more, you feel far better than you did before. Your headache is gone, and you no longer feel like you're going to empty the contents of your stomach at any moment. No longer are you overly sensitive to light or sound, nor do you still feel at all dizzy.

>>

do you never pay attention, i already told you why thats a wrong statement earlier, hell check out the thread where we read the notes or the thread where we actually do it, just to see how wrong you are.
>>

Keeping it to ourselves, is what I imagine his meaning is.

I agree with him, too.
>>
>>37558836
Not everyone likes me here. But you are a certain kind of special.
We picked up the spirit parasite from going inside to gate. this time we won't be going into the gate cause we have other shit to focus on.
>>
>>37558730
Yes

>>37558767
I like this

>>37558836
We eroded it a bit and it fixed at the gate. And the parasite was cause we took the plunge.
>>
Meditating on reality to repair your soul may not be the wisest move. Keep in mind, you must first severely weaken your soul to pass through the barriers between your world and the Void. Then, you must search the void for a Gate into Surya's Heart. In the course of your search, you may encounter void creatures and be forced to combat them. Damage taken would be damage directly to your soul.

Of course, you're can if you want to. I'm just pointing out that the point of meditation upon reality is not to ensure the integrity of your soul. It's to make learning metas easier.
>>
>>37558505
It should be a simple task to if it is adversely affecting us by being in the cloak. If we take it out and our soul seems to brighten then we know keeping it in the cloak is a bad idea, if it dosen't then we can investigate other possible causes. The books properties are strange enough and our issue recent enough to put it under suspicion.

>>37558643
>You should consult with your Master.

>Meditate on something else.
Metal. If our head is having issues metal might be able to help dampen the effects, especially if we focus the meditation of strengthening our mind
>>
>>37558890
I also believe that was the reason for the parasite. Not sure though, we just gotta be careful Anon.
>>
>>37558864
You are so stupid it hurts. Please leave.
>>
>>37558767
Note we should read some of the Meta scrolls before we mediate.
>>
>>37558638
Well, when you put it like that, I ain't even mad.

He already ate his competitor that tried to soul-impregnate us.
>>
So basically you people want some piece of junk we used barely once, that most of it's uses we can replicate, instead of giving it to SK who can use it to it's full extent while serving as his assistant and furthering his research?
>>
>>37558874
can be used as a better digital book collection.
It can be upgraded to be an advanced scout.
SK already has his tentacle helmet.
Basically a flying assistant.
>>
>>37558890
No, it should of been because we didn't shield ourselves when entering the gate. People just went in bare while forgetting that the notes said not to.
>>
>>37558929
Gotcha. So what would be the best for that sort of thing?
>>
>>37558929
Never mind then.

Let's just do some Metal magic meditations.
>>
>>37558767
Why not consult master first?
>>
>>37558929
Well alright then, thanks for the advice Soma. I vote we take off the cloak for awhile in our room and meditate on some Meta's the regular way.
>>

>>
>>37558950

>>
>>37558890

>>
>>37558929
So can we get a vote on giving SK the bot?
>>
>>37558970
Sleeping is the safest way,
>>
>>37558949
What? No, we want SK to set it up so that we can use it's abilities while he stays and does SCIENCE! while we're dicking getting Elder God surgeries done and trying on possessed cock-rings, and flesh-melding Mystral Arms onto ourselves from the corpses of our enemies with our grand-master in water + enchantment.

Oh, god, I don't think I'm going to be a good influence on this quest.
>>
>>37558970
Sleeping is the safest way, though not necessarily the fastest. There are others besides sleep and meditation upon reality, but you're not sure what they are.
>>
>>37558993
Or metal I forgot to add. I also wanna give Thad the bot because iirc we don't really use it.
>>
>>37559015
is our soul still fucked?
>>
>>37558950
>can be used as a better digital book collection.
We have the archeotta and Fulvia which we actually know how to use.
>It can be upgraded to be an advanced scout.
We don't actually know that. Also, we have nature magic, so that mostly covers that.
>SK already has his tentacle helmet.
I don't think his helmet flies around and serves as a flying assistant.
>Basically a flying assistant.
Whose main function would better serve SK.
>>
>>37559042
>>37559015
This lag is really starting to piss me off.

>>37559012
Yes, you can.

VOTE
1
To give SK the bot.

VOTE
2
To keep it for yourself.

In the meantime, I'll keep tallying votes to see what our next course of action is. I think meditation won, but I've yet to finish counting.

So? Means he can link directly to the device for better control/remote control.
>Basically a flying assistant.
When we have never needed one. and Sk work kind of requires one or at least having an assistant make it so much easier.

>>37559029
No you're not. And it has shit abilities anyway, things much better suited to SK than us, plus he just dropped 2600 on our house.

So you're sleeping obviously. I'll go ahead and have you contact your Master and Ricky before hand. Then you can decide on what to do next when you wake up, which will probably be very, very early in the morning of tomorrow (In game, that is.)

Next post will be in a new thread, and I'll be grabbing dinner shortly after the thread is posted.

Now we need 2 things.

1: An Airship: Enchanted to fly, mobile base, etc, etc

2: We need to discover the secrets of Portals, Judging from Excidium the Rhynians figured them out we can too.

Then we install a Portal in our house and in The Airship.

Everything is solved.

The Airship must also have water capabilities so we can renovate our docks to fit it.

So who's up for pitching Siege! at the party?

And Dam i knew i was forgetting something we totally should have pitched in some money to get an area built for seige.

Oh well, we can get Pema on it when we wake up.

Shouldn't cost to much since it just be some stands and open ground. Preferable with a large pool of water in it somewhere, maybe grass on it too.

And don't know about pitching it to everyone at the party, maybe asking if dad wants to invest in it/run the business and just giving a display to everyone else. We should put 40 out of our 41 Vys into it. 29 Vys did awesome shit, 40 would be amazing.
