We finally helped in the chess club, and began working on our golem project!

***
REBORN IN AN RPG is about Eldric Lightbringer, 13 years old (almost 14), and his life after dying in a plane crash. Eldric is a former fa/t g/uy chemical engineer that found himself being reborn not only with memories of his previous life, but also, reborn in an rpg-like world with rpg-like laws of physics and the like.
>>
are we making a golem for the Chess Club first, or go straight into our personal golem?
>>
>>37568357
I'm voting personal golem first

I am fine as long as we make both eventually

HK-47 and others based off of him had a hilarious way of saying things and dearly, truly loved to kill things. It is what made him happiest, the moment when one living meatbag became a dead meatbag before his eyes. Listen to him talk, it's fucking great.
>>

Well, anyone has something against a intelligent golem constantly whining about his chess, helpfulness, and cleaning program despite being the strongest and most lethal thing in the continent, except for its creator and friends?

Rather have one of our personal golems be the hk personality.

I would rather him have the same dark enthusiasm for chess. He desperately wants to destroy people in chess. He wants his opponents to cry like children as he takes their pieces. Nothing gives him more joy than to see another piece fall to his labyrinthine statagems.
>>
>>37569605
this seems extremely funny to me. Because of the way golems are made, he's going to have about 7k str, dex and con, but just 20 int, wis, cha, app. Want to have him whine a lot about all his warrior prowess and it not making him any better as a chess player.

As Okaba leans over the blackboard to finish drawing the schematic of a smaller generator as seen from above, Aura is sitting nearby, sipping some citrus juice, legs crossed as she sits sidewise and observes him, looking quite prim and proper.

Neither one is wearing the standard uniform, but they can't really be blamed for it since their wings get in the way. Okaba is wearing his traditional royal blue robes, while Aura is actually wearing a slightly modified version of the normal uniform, with a couple of carefully hidden slits on the back of the shirt for her wings.

"Welcome" ~says Aura as Eldric and Lyann enter the lab.
"Thank you"
"Thanks"

Okaba nods his head, and invites Eldric to check the schematics. They start talking about it while Lyann goes to greet and talk with Aura.

The boys start talking about the magic conductivity of different materials, while the girls talk about the boys, cooking, body soap scents, Advanced Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics, and velvet vs silk for kamisks and other bedroom clothing.

"You know, I feel it would be a good time to finally try my hand at alchemy." ~says Eldric
"Are you trying to turn lead into one of the rainbow metals?"
"No, just... you know, constructs."
"Well, I have never actually tried my hand at that"
"What about the chair, and the centipede carriage, and that talk we had about giving an auto pilot to the rockit ships?"
"Sure, but those are simple programs. Moving under someone about to sit, walking from A to B. Or, well, flying from A to B. You want something to talk back and think on its own, right?"
"Right"

"Well, what will you build it with? your abilities pretty much mean that its materials are not really very relevant, right?"
"I was thinking copper"

More xp is good.

Can do it in our sleep. Just decide in dungeon depth, and we can go that deep. Number of mobs needed to. Take more time to loot most then to kill.

We have spellchanter on everyone also, so decide how that affects it too.

Anyway, you guys know I liked those dresses(?) on the posts above as elegant but sexy slave girl clothes (Because yes, i'm quite lewd) but what do you think of shoes to go with them? found some that seem to go from silly to outrageous but they all seem like "hey, that could be a thing" because they look like it would be simple to make

***

"You do look lovely in your uniform. You look lovely in anything, but it makes me smile whenever you walk by dressed this way" ~says Eldric while holding her hand gently, entwining his fingers with hers so she can't run away in embarrasment
"y-Yo.. wh... t-that's not fair, all of a sudden!" ~she half way cries as Eldric holds her gently captive by his side

He leans down and gives her a kiss. She goes as red as her hair while he looks at her.

"t-That's cheating... you meanie" ~she says softly

Eldric gives her another, soft, gentle kiss, and tugs from her hand to go into the university's dungeon together.

She's blushing bright enough for it to be noticeable through her white cotton shirt.

She could farm much faster by dancing and applying damage to every mob, but she's too embarrassed to dance while "alone" with Eldric right now, so it takes a little bit longer as she actually hits the mobs, letting off some steam that way.

Those poor mobs get hit with the full power of her embarrassment, so those are some mighty powerful hits whenever he gently praises her or looks at her too much.

It takes a evening, but you easily farm a dozen thousand mana points into a new crystal before picking up Mako and Ren to take them home from school.

"Why is Lyann acting like that?" ~asks Ren
"Ah, she had a fun day" ~says Eldric

Indeed, the lovely redhead is being quite shy and skittish right now.

The manor is quite wide, but only 2 floors tall. The servants have been in service in the house for their whole lives, and most of them for several generations, serving the lord in charge through several empresses.

Our gentleman's gentleman is a respectable looking, positively ancient fox tribe beastman named Xong Zau.

The Xong family has been at the service of the duke's house in the capital for countless generations.

Yes, that does sound rather reasonable.

"Mister Xong, can we organize a ball here?"
"Of course, sir. The house is spotless."
"How much time would you need?"
"Three days would be enough. There is the matter of money, however. Moving money requires your personal seal on any related documents."
"I... don't have of those, do I?"
"Not just yet, sir. Would you want me to arrange for one?"
"Yes please"

The house is... quite asian-like. It has plenty of wooden halls, and rooms without locks with sliding doors. There are actual beds, however, and it looks as if the rooms on the second floor are reserved for Eldric's family, while the ones on the first floor are the servant's and utility rooms, such as kitchens and baths.

There is a small bath on the second room, but the hot water must be carried up by hand from the kitchens.

We go into the palace and see Mako hurrierfly walking around, carrying a little bowl with water on top of her head, dressed in full court regalia.

When the little princess spots us, she eeeps! and runs away, while one of her shadows picks up the water bowl.

Well, she is probably practicing her regal walking?

Anyway, our office turns out to be inside the palace, but not in the innermost section. It is an administrative area, after all.

We have a young assistant, a secretary belonging to the fox race, just like our butler.

Miss Yin Aillyn has been keeping the office running smoothly in our absence. She is wearing a soft looking white kimono that chashes beautifully with her dark brown hair, and compliments her milky pale skin.

Her clothes are quite long, and only her head and shoulders are bare. She has rather attractive features, and would have been a traffic stopped in our old world, but we know plenty of attractive and competent people here.

"Are you lost? can I help you?" ~she looks at us without any hostility.

It can't be helped, she has never even seen us before, right?

It's a little shameful

"I.... think I got a memo about that...?" ~she looks for an unrolls a small scroll~ "Right! you are the new count for the capital, right?"
"Yes..."
"...you are real? I mean, for the first week I was expecting you to show up every day, but then the week became a month, and then another..."
"I am genuinely sorry"
"Alright. Uhmm... so... you are my superior?"
"...yes miss."
"Could you please take a sit? over there."
"Here?" ~Eldric sits
"No, there"
"Here?"
"Yes, thank you"

She leans over now that Eldric is sitting next to him, taking a good look at him.

"Uhmm... I guess you do match the description. I am not being pranked, right?"
"No, miss"
"A...alright"
"Could you please look at some documents, then?"
"o-Of course!"

Well, from what miss Yin shows us, the office has been running efficiently despite our absence, but there are a few big decisions that will actually require our authority.

What to do with the money for this year's budget. The general Li wants to use it for defense and buy a fleet of rockit ships for the army, modernize the fleet, and shrink the army by cutting out on conscriptions, and instead moving to an all professional, full-time army.

Meanwhile, the empress wants to use the money for building orphanages and schools, as well as better roads linking all cities and towns in the empire.

There is not enough money to do both, and doing a bit of both will not make anyone happy.

>>37574774
So basically, you want to turn them into a banana republic using the economic hitman model. A sound plan, but such models royally fuck over the population of the country victimized. It's only their leaders that are bad people, by fucking them over like that we're hurting innocents simply because we have a grudge. Don't people understand that?
>>
>>37574873

>>37574873
To clarify for those who don't know, the "economic hitman" model is quite simple and can conquer a country easily without ever needing an army (or at least your army). One way or another, you get the target nation to take out very large loans. This can be because their economy is crashing or they seek to build infrastructure. Either way, you get them into debt upto their eyeballs.

Now, because their debts are so big, they can't possibly pay them off. You get aggressive about demanding your money. Then, relent, say you'll give them a bit more time. All they have to do is X. X can be anything, a new law, stopping a genocide, a vote at a notUN, tax breaks for a company you like that's operating within those borders, ect...

In essence, you grab them by the balls with debt and drag them around. How this fucks over the people, well, where the hell do you think they get the money from to pay you back? One way or another, they take it from the people. Many times these nations are poor already but even if done to a rich country it would still contribute to a destruction of their middle class and a worsening of overall poverty. You fuck the people so you can get their leaders to do what you want, hence while it is effective, you can't really consider it a "good" option even if your goals are noble. Ends do not justify means.
>>
>>37574870

Miss the 2 econ votes due to driving, oh well.

The idea of training the army then using them to raise some funds to go ahead is nice.

>>37575075

They get money the simple way.

They invade and conquer other nations. Loot and Pillage.

Granted they got their ass kicked last time, no idea how it will happen this next time.
>>
>>37575220
That is another answer, but the end result is the same. In fact, it's a bit worse, you've indirectly subjected a third party to the horrors of war and if they're successfully conquered the resulting loot and pillage will simply send *them* into poverty. It still won't help them though, the debt's interest is variable, it's on the contract if you thought ahead. You can keep them on an endless debt treadmill up to the point they can successfully conquer you.

This is why the technique is usually applied to 3 world countries. Their tech level is inferior and their population size not terribly great or capable of fighting a war. Thus, the "conquered" country can remain under your thumb indefinitely. It's quite the evil genius way of going about conquering the world. Hell, if ya got multiple countries yolked this way you can play them off one another so they never focus on you as a group. Divide and Conquer, genius.
>>
>>37575351

When there is military parity, or close parity it is much harder. You also have the issue of them saying fuck the debt, repossessing everything and daring the other nations to go to war.

In this world they could get away with it. They are basically a first world nation.

Our world, there were so many nations, it would happen less. Often in colonial times until WW1 the nations simply invaded and collected the taxes and left.

Because most were third world nations as you said.

>They invade and conquer other nations. Loot and Pillage.
Why do that when running dungeons, sending an army into a dungeon to get loot, is faster, more reliable, and doesn't result in increasing taxes?

>>37575351
The Alquia Empire is a first world nation, and if the trade route to the West fails, it's not like they can't simply stop trade.
Not to mention, they can simply default on their loans. What are we going to do, send an army after them?
That's exactly what they want anyway, and it would be disastrous for us, when we're trying to build up the Coalition's military for the demon invasion.

I'm more hoping it'll be something that teaches him as a character. That he needs to realize that the actions of powerful people have consequences beyond what he thought and that it is best to not let emotions and sentiment figure into these big decisions. One must see "the big picture", not the picture they themselves possess.

Yes, they try to kidnap Mako, of course they do given what they need her for. A powerful man would make the same call even if they weren't all that evil they'd ask her first, but if she refused they wouldn't take no for an answer. He, however, cared for her personally and came to wish to spite them for this, and in so doing screwed over a ton of innocents. Had he kept his emotions under control and considered their side, things would have turned out better. That's a good lesson for a person to learn, and sadly it's usually in the hard way that the lesson gets taught.

Smart merchants know what's rare and what ain't, you can't play a player. Kinda how the going price is determined too. A merchant likes to take things that are common in one area to another area where they are rare (and thus, can fetch a higher price). That's trade in a nutshell.

IIRC its diamond monopoly plus really good advertising

First they convinced people that diamonds were romantic, which only happened in the last 70 years.

In the middle ages, a big diamond was just a shiny stone, no more useful or precious tha any other stone. BECAUSE DIAMONDS ARE MUCH MORE COMMON THAN PEOPLE THINKS.

Again, due to advertising

There are now 3-4 eays to make artificial diamonds.

When people made slowly lower quality diamonds, the industry said
"It's low quality, do you REALLY want a LOWER QUALITY diamond in your ring?"

When people learnt to make perfect diamonds, way more perfect than natural diamonds, they said
"But its artificial, it has none of the romance, the microscopic imperfections that grant character to a real diamond, that something that come from the hand of God"

Now we have artificial diamonds that even come in different colors, and the industry keeps bashing them, because its really a monopoly trying to cling to their product.

btw, that "it takes millions of years" thing is bullshit. A diamond can be made in as little as two days in the natural world. During a eruption, lava comes up, but earth also goes down and then gets puked up (sometimes) and that gives us new diamonds.
>>
>>37576628

Marketing was a large part. Monopoly was another.

Another issue is that before the start of the 20th century, the cuts sucked. A diamond without a good cut is a clear stone.

A proper cut makes it brilliant which is important.

In the US, there is a state park you can go prospecting at for a small fee.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crater_of_Diamonds_State_Park

And man made diamonds, if it is clear should be no different to most people then a 'real' one.

If you are not told it is artificial, you would not know the difference.
>>
>>37576628
Gotta love marketing, it's why I never trust commercials. Their end goal isn't to inform me of a useful product at a good price, it's to get me to buy it at their price regardless of whether or not I'm in the market for such things.

Plus, once you learn about how propaganda works you realize damn near every commercial is a textbook example of it. I don't much like propaganda, what with it's almost scientific methodology of trying to circumvent the logical parts of your brain. They wouldn't need to do this if something underhanded wasn't happening.

So, what did you call King? You gonna punish us or call it with us being magnanimous to one degree or another given a popular namefag's unfortunate circumstances along with an optional dick move that correlates with a given option? I won't feel bitter about either, it is the GM's perogative to play the "gotcha" game. You do control the antagonists after all, it would be boring if, after giving the players proper signals and them choosing the "wrong" option anyways that something "bad" didn't happen. It's that aspect of "game theory" that makes it interesting.

How do you best the other players? It's like blackjack, you, the dealer, go "last" as it were. This gives you and advantage, but you also are restrained by given rules and the players know that. This influences their decisions as well as your own. For example, in blackjack, the dealer MUST stand once he's above a certain number regardless of if a given player is above it. You know when you "should" raise and when you "can't", but you don't know if that'll turn out well for you on that hand. You may even know the odds, but they are just that, odds, there is no true guarantee here.

This is, interestingly enough, an opportunity for me to get at how you think and such. I have no real idea how you're going to play all this, an attitude I think any good GM knows how to cultivate within their players. You know him "well", but not well enough to be a kind of Nostradamus seer. The end result of any choice is ultimately uncertain, just like in RL. I will eagerly await the results of this episode.

As a rule he should like go with how he called it. Not everyone can make every vote. And votes cast afterwards should not count.

We should really spend more time discussing these things mid vote, instead of after the fact though.

Some selection choices are more complex the others, but that is the general flow with co-operative board quests.

He does get final say. Either way, the selection would match up with Eldrics shoot from the hip, not always think things through personality. Take on more things then he has time for.

We set up the chess club, and kinda ignored it for 2-3 years in game.

We did not take care of Asmund's father when we should of either, which would have been as soon as possible.

If we hire her to be Eldric's secretary, then he will need to hire her 2 more secretaries for all the stuff he will absent-mindedly dumps on her.

Going to need to spend like 1 day a week to handle our duties in the capital. 5 days of school, 1 day of rest.

We also going to need to hash our if we release info on those mana generators to anyone.

Make it public or just start selling them ect.

I think we should open up a Rock-it ship production branch in the Empires capital.

We should also make a few dozen of those small potion producers and place them with the seal of the Empress around the capital in easy to reach areas for the lower class sections, so they have cheap healing.

Start a business selling hot water heaters and cold water coolers for use in the houses of nobility.

For example, if you helped Alquia and the southern nations, they would have a better structure when the demons invade later on, but now the coalition will have a better structure.

It just changes the way the story goes. I am thinking the coalition is much more secure now, and they can help rescue the nations that will get devastated, while if we had spread the wealth, the fight would have been evenly hard or easy all across the globe-

It was a "create a bastion of safety from which to fight out" vs a "everyone can fight to some extent" thing.

Also, can someone go to download.wacom.com? i keep trying but it throws me to a blank registration page. And when I say blank, I mean the web address is wacom.registration.en-us but the page is literally white. There's nothing there

For some reason this seems totally adorable, but I think it should be longer, and nap time

probably misnamed. About 2 or 3 times I did made a mistake naming/labeling the threads.

What browser are you using? Some trippy shit has been happening on firefox. Or it just might be my internet.
>>

chrome, but it takes away my tripcode too, sometimes.

Ugh I really cant get the free software that is meant to come with my tablet. I have the access code but when I finally found a register page, Chile is not listed among the countries. Hell, there's not even a southamerica tag.

Does Wacom seriously think nobody down here draws? or is this one of those "lies, they have computers in Chile!? I thought you guys didin't had electricity yet!" thing, like what happened to me some years ago when a player found out I am Chilean

Sometimes it's laws and regulations. Either they need a license for something or some politician is going out of their way to get his cut. Or there's this really, really tiny detail that generates a huge amount of paperwork and is ridiculously difficult to program out.

Other times, it's in-company politics. There's X number of simple things to do that make complete sense, but we can't do it because Y department's Z is only contracted to be used in so-and-so countries, etc.

Plenty of companies just don't pay enough attention to some regions. It might not be profitable no matter how it looks to us, or they might not be willing to develop the market. Our GDPs might not be high enough to actually warrant all the trouble.

Well, I hope they don't later whine about piracy because if X paid the money, and X had the right to download something, yet X cannot do so, X will download a pirate copy, and learn to do so regularly.

(psst... X is me)

Usually, if they didn't bother porting it over to your country, they won't bother with copyright infringement. Just look at LN translations and how they only ever get shut down when Yen Press calls dibs(even though they take forever and will likely never make it to your bookstore).

You can call them and test their customer service for competence and actually knowing what the hell their job is, but piracy is probably what you'll have to stick with.

uhmm... can't make Eldric look as young as he is on TERA

Damn, that's beefy. Are there enchanted equipment that can shrink your body size? Eldric might run into some trouble with passageways half his height(little demon tunellers).

Well, good night.

Ok thanks King. Enjoying the quest so far.

the good thing is, you usually see them ordered by date, I think

well, like i said, can't make him look as young as I wish I could.

That's light armor, btw. Heavy armor looks like something a primarch would wear

Also, so sad, i tried to play and I really cant see well enough to play on tera anymore. At least not with Stella, who as a warrior, requires the sharpest reflexes and eyesight
>>
>>37585737

That is weird light armor. Pretty heavy for light, looks like a medium mix of armor.

Maybe my view is affected by d&d i guess.

We really need to have Eldric set up like 4 or 5 companies just for everything he js involved in.

Indeed, great leaders know how to delegate their responsibilities. We need more secretaries and vice-presidents.
>>
>>37584727
Okaba's still gonna chew us out for this. Which he should, we still fucked over innocents, innocents that also include the his own people, no matter how well it all turns out. Eldric needs to learn how to see the big picture, how there are costs and benefits to any action he takes.
>>
>>37586696

We deserve it. We need to be chewed out also simply cause of the things we end up starting.

It is also weird as we are a 13 year old kid in universe, who is now wielding a crazy amount of economic, physical and political power.

new world thread is up, btw

>we still fucked over innocents
We didn't take away anything, and doing this ensures that the Coalition is in a better position to invade and conquer Alquai so that we can institute policies that will better prepare the south for the demon invasion.
Instead of passively accepting the admonishments of people who are ignorant of the impending demon invasion, we should be moving ahead with actions to prepare the world.
