I'm still wondering how the hell P-san managed to assemble the whole test for Rochelle.

The other idols were probably in on it too, or else they would've injured or killed "The Mercs", and the staff were probably given advance warning.

So how did they manage to get Rochelle in the starting position in the first place?

Offered to let her play video games all day and slipped something in her drink?

Also I wonder if Melissa suffers guilt trips at being the only survivor of the bear?
>>
>>37601692
1. P-san could've drugged her food and put her in the box while everyone set up the whole test.
OR
2. He finally decided to use DIRECT CONTROL and took control of Rochelle either the previous evening, or early in the morning, got to the starting position and undid the DIRECT CONTROL at around the time Rochelle usually gets up, thus waking her while in the box.

Personally I like the 2nd idea, seems like something The Captain would do.

You are MELISSA, an idol of Clover Entertainment!

Currently, you off doing some errands. Mostly getting some snacks to restock the fridge, because SOMEBODY, you weren't going to name names, kept freaking EATING EVERYTHING.

Seriously, you loved Cole like a sister (and legally, she actually is) but goddamn there were times you really REALLY wanted to crush her skull in. It was kind of too bad that she'd EMP your arm every time you tried.

UGH. BACK TO THE SUBJECT.

You head to the supermarket, making sure to keep your scarf up to hide your face so nobody could recognize you. You just shuffle through the aisles, like any other person here, picking out out the little knickknacks and foods everybody requested of you. And then, you see it.

Or at least you think you did, just passing by.

"Captain...?" You mumble to yourself.

You move to try and follow the Captain. However, you accidentally bump into a pair of men wearing white suits with blue undershirts. A very odd choice of dress, in you opinion.

"Oops, sorry." You mutter and nearly yelp when one of the suited men grabs you by the collar.

"That's pretty rude, kid." The man snarls. "Look, you messed up my nice suit here!"

"Yeah, what are you gonna do to make up for it?" The other joins in.

Now that you get a closer look at them, you realize that they're not just random guys with an odd fashion sense. They were thugs. Mafia thugs. Russian, judging from their accents.

"Maybe we should take her out back, huh?" Thug 1 says.

"Yeah, maybe we should." Thug 2 nods, his hand grabbing at an obviously concealed knife.

Well, this was inconvenient.

"Hah, you call that a knife?" You grin as you grab it with your hand. Your augmetic one, of course. A slight squeeze is all it takes to completely crush the knife into an unrecognizable shape. Then, with your hand still balled into a fist, give Thug 2 a hard jab, sending him flying into a fridge case with a loud CRASH. Thug 1 tries to reach for his own weapon, when you extend your armblade and slice straight through his belt, causing his holstered gun, and his pants, falling to the ground.

"THIS is a knife." You smirk.

"Y-you will regret this!" Thug 1 wails as he turns and runs, stumbling a bit since his pants were still stuck around his ankles.

Heh, beating up punks was always enjoyable, but now you've attracted quite a bit of attention, as both customers and store staff come to see what's going on.

Crap, you were going to have to pay for that damage, weren't you?

Suddenly, another hand grabs you and starts dragging you away. You resist at first, but you recognize the way the arm tugs at you. Strong, clipped, and entirely mechanical.

"Captain?" You blink.

"You have no idea what you just did." Captain says, her voice slightly strained. It was the closest the Captain came to anger.

"Captain, what the hell's going on?!" You hiss. "Where are you taking me?"

"A safehouse." Captain grunts. "You just messed with the Russian Mafia."

"Is that a bad thing?" You ask.

"Usually, yes." Captain says. "Especially when they were tailing me."

Okay, now you felt a little bad.

"What for?"

"Apparently, the Bear had friends. Lots of them." Captain grunts. "Apparently his brother is head of the Russian Mafia's stateside branch. They've been hounding me for months now."

"And you didn't think to ask for help?" You ask.

"Too dangerous. Plus I was trying to track down Little Bear." Captain says simply. "But you kind of messed that up."

"Oh, sorry." You sigh.

At this point, you now out in the parking lot. The Captain starts leading you to a nearby van when you hear a loud metallic CRASH behind you. You turn and you see him.

"I hope you have a quick way to get out of here." You grunt, eying the big armored beast of a man.

"I do. Better cover your ears." The Captain scowls as she grabs a nearby van, and with her enhanced cyborg strength, picks up the entire damn vehicle and tosses it at the Bear.

Damn, you wish you could do something like that.

However, the Bear catches the van effortlessly, as if it were a softball.

"I hope you got a better plan." You grimace.

"There's a reason why I said to cover your ears." The Captain says simply as she triggers a remote.

And then the van explodes.

"Now we run." The Captain grunts as she starts off at a full sprint. Thanks to her training, you're able to keep up with her, but only barely.

"So... you just... drive around with tons of high explosive packed in your car?" You pant.

"Never hurts to be prepared." The Captain shugs. "We should head for the safehouse."

"Where is it?" You pant.

"A couple districts over. It'll be a bit of a walk." Captain says simply.

"How about our office? It's a lot closer, and didn't the Producer agree that he'd always be there to help you out?"

"That's true, but..." The Captain actually frowns. "I don't want to cause trouble for him. This is pretty serious."

"Do you think he'd care?" You ask. "Dad- I mean- the Producer is one of the nicest people I know, and he'd do anything to help out a friend. He wouldn't mind."

"...Dad?" Captain pauses for a second.

"Um, yeah, he adopted me a little while ago." You admit sheepishly.

"Well, congratulations." Captain coughs. "I'm sure he'll make a great father."

"He is." You assure her. "So, can I call you Auntie Captain?"

"If you don't mind being buried alive." Captain grunts.

"Noted." You gulp.

It takes about ten more minutes to make your way to the office, with Captain making double sure that nobody was following you. The first thing you do when you get back is to head straight to the Producer's office and appraise him of the situation.

"...I see." Dad sighs as he sits down behind his desk. "So they got the entire Russian Mafia gunning for you now?"

"Pretty much." The Captain nods.

"Well, you can lay low here for a while. I'm sure the girls would love to see-"

"I didn't come here to hide." The Captain grunts. "I came here for help."

"What kind of help?" Dad raises a suspicious eyebrow.

"The Mafia won't stop chasing me, and it's not going to take them long to figure out you're connected to me." The Captain points out. "The only way we can stop them is to take them out. All of them."

"You're saying you want us to help you wipe out the Russian Mafia?" Dad asks incredulously.

"Their leader, Little Bear, is in Delta City. If we can take him and their lieutenants out, they'll stop chasing us."

"I don't think I can risk my girls' lives for something like that." Dad frowns.

"Come on, Dad." You smile. "You know they'll probably come along anyways. Julie is, well, Julie, and Cole is always itching for a fight."

"You're very right, and that's what concerns me." Dad sighs. "Fortunately for you, Cole and Julie do happen to be free today. Morgan can also come along to provide sniper support."

"Thanks, Dad." You grin and turn to the Captain. "So what's the plan?"

"Well," The Captain reaches into her pocket and brings out a small holoprojector, which generates an image of a pretty cruddy looking apartment building, "this is where Little Bear is holed up. He lives in a penthouse on the top floor, and it's heavily fortified."

"And filled with thugs and bodyguards, I assume." Dad frowns.

"Correct." Captain nods. "Now, there's two possible ways in. We can fight our way in from the ground level, and then get to the top via the elevator shafts. This of course means we have to fought our way through the ground level defenses."

"Can't we come in from the air?" You ask. "We could bypass everything."

"And risk getting shot down by AA defenses." Captain sighs. "I know Morgan is good, but I don't know if she's THAT good."

You pause as your memories surge through your mind. The image of that bastard, gloating over you as he held your dismembered arm over your head was burned in your memory. You would never forget nor forgive him for what happened that day.

"Yeah, it's a chance for payback." You say.

"I really hope I can." You bite your lip. "But I'm smart enough to know to ask my sisters for help if I need it."

"Good to know." Dad nods and turns to the Captain. "I assume we're on a timer here?"

"Yes. Little Bear never stays in one place for too long." The Captain nods. "I figure we have less than 24 hours before he bolts again.

"So I guess that means we have to leave now." Producer sighs. "Would've liked for Rochelle and Sparky to come in as backup, but I guess we can't wait."

"Don't worry. Cole and Julie should be all we need." You smile.

"I hope." Dad sighs. "Good luck out there."

---

"Okay, now I'm having second thoughts." Cole frowns as she looks out the window of the SUV. "That's a LOT of thugs."

Sure enough, there were over a dozen of the white suited Russian thugs milling around the front door.

"Morgan, are you position?" You ask.

"Da." Your Russian sniper responds. "I have a clear line of sight to the penthouse as well as your quadrant of the building."

A. We have an APC, not a tank
B. If we went to the penthouse with an APC, Little Bear would know we're coming (APCs are unsurprisingly hard to disguise as civilian transport) and there would be a lot of thugs with heavy weapons ready to waste us before we can get out.
>>
>>37607374
The Viper IFV had way to disguise it's self as a civilian transport. That was half the reason we were debating about buying one before we looted one for ourselves.
>>
>>37607285
"Stig, we'll plow right through them." You say.

Stig nods as he revs up the engine.

"Melissa," NEMO chimes. "Would you like me to participate as well?"

Because of the danger of AA fire, Dad instead opted to have NEMO control the Viper this time. The armored fighting vehicle was waiting in the wings, hidden in a valley and waiting to strike. Its firepower would be really great support, but part of you also felt it was a trump card that should be kept close to the vest.

The SUV's engines roar as the whole vehicle surges forward. The noise causes the thugs out front to turn to see what the commotion was. Their reactions are slow and sluggish, as they weren't expecting an SUV to be coming at them at full speed. Even less so with a bunch of girls shooting guns out from the windows, too.

By the time they do have the sense to start firing, it's too late. What few rounds they're able to get off bounce and ricochet harmlessly off the SUV's armored hull.

"Brace for impact!" You yell as you see the apartment building's front doors loom larger as you get closer.

The entire vehicle is violently jolted as glass shatters, concrete crumbles, and steel twists. The front doors crumple like paper, sending thugs flying in all directions.

"Go!" The Captain yells as she kicks open the door. She's the first out, dashing towards the elevators and putting thugs down with short, controlled bursts of fire from her SMG.

"All right, girls, let's go!" You yell as you exit the SUV as well. By the time you do, The Captain is already on the other side of the hall and a the elevators. However, more and more thugs were streaming in.

"Come on, I'll cover you!" The Captain waves at you to move forward.

"Go!" You yell. You fire your MG wildly to the left in an effort to suppress the thugs while Julie holds her shield up high to the right to deflect incoming fire. Cole fires a few bursts with her rifle, but she's moving too much to get any accurate hits.

The Captain, however, keeps dropping thugs like flies with controlled bursts from her position at the elevators. Meanwhile, Stig backs the SUV out to disengage from the battle, and thugs begin streaming in from the demolished front doors as well.

Not much time left.

Once you reach the elevator doors, Julie spins around to shield you all while the Captain proceeds to pry the doors open.

"Go! Hold onto the wire!" She says, pointing to the elevator cable. "Once we cut it the counterweight will take you straight to the top!"

"Okay, good luck, then." You say reluctantly.

"Come on, kid, do you really think these squishy punks can take me down?" Tarin looks back at you. "Now go. Finish it."

You nod and wait for Julie and Cole to grab onto the cable before slicing it. The cable shrieks as the counterweight drops without its support, and the three of you wince as you are pulled up the shaft at a rapid rate. All the while, scenarios play through your head on how to handle the Bear if... no, WHEN you encounter him.

However, you time is all too short, as you finally reach the top of the shaft. An electrical pulse from Cole is enough to get the doors to open and the three of you roll into the hallway of the top floor penthouse. Unlike the rest of the apartment, the penthouse actually looked pretty nice. No guards in sight, either. The three of you sweep the penthouse, but don't find any sign of either Bear.

"Where the hell could he be?" You wonder. "Morgan, did you see anything?"

"He was definitely in the penthouse prior to the attack." Morgan says. "I lost visual of him, but I don't think he went down the elevators or onto the roof."

Huh...

On a hunch, you use the seismic sensor in your augmetic leg to ping the entire penthouse floor. Your sensors immediately feed data back to you, building a visual picture of the entire complex. Most of the floor seems pretty normal. Made out of the standard steel and concrete most buildings these age consisted of. However, you found on anomaly. An empty void in the floor that seemed to absorb all of the seismic shock.

Of course. A panic room.

You immediately storm over to where you believe the panic room is, and with one sweep of your augmetic arm, tear off the wall covering to reveal a large vault door.

"Well shit." Julie scratches her head. "How are we gonna get through THAT?"

Oh boy, you have an inkling of what Cole was going to do and you quickly get some distance.

"KNOCK KNOCK, MOTHERFUCKER!" Cole cackles as she starts sending hypersonic coin after coin into the vault door. To the door's credit, though, it manages to withstand the initial barrage with only a few scratches or dents. However, a few more volleys, and that door will eventually crumple.

However, you're interrupted by a loud CRASH, as the Bear literally drops down through the ceiling as if it weren't there. His armor, now scorched and scratched thanks to the Captain's booby trap earlier today, somehow looked even more menacing as the painted bear face glares at you. "Do you remember me?? You ask the Bear as you pace closer to him.

"...no." The Bear grunts. He doesn't try to struggle or escape his armor. He knows it's over for him.

"How about I jog your memory?" You as as you disconnect your augmetic arm. "A bunch of years ago, down in the Tombs. You went down there to kidnap a bunch of kids, and one them tried to fight back... so you chopped off an arm and leg and left her to die. Do you remember now?"

The Bear remains silent. You can't tell what sort of expression he's making, but you get the feeling he's making all the connections now.

"So, what now? Are you going to kill me? Is that going to make you feel better?" He asks.

You pause for a second before answering.

"Yeah." You say and hit him with the hardest, most powerful punch you could muster. So hard that your arm literally demolishes itself. Servos crack, circuitry shorts out, and the superstructure buckles and breaks from the force. But oh is it worth seeing the bastard fly back out of the roof he dropped in from and down to the ground below.

Despite your arm being in bad shape, you never felt better in your life. It was as if a great weight had finally been taken off you.

"You done?" The Captain asks as she walks in, covered with blood and grime. You notice form a few cracks and dents on her body that she didn't get through completely usncathed.

"We should get going. The police often don't come out here but somebody is going to investigate the commotion." The Captain cautions.

"Yeah, sure, just give me a sec." You say as you bend down to pick up the one thing the Bear left behind.

Heh, maybe it'll make a nice souvenir. Not like he's going to need it where he's going...

How did Rochelle's date with the Producer went.?

Also what did Melissa use that coupon thing, Morgan, Rochelle and Morgan used?
>>
Also how did Melissa punch him with her Augmentic arm if she disconnected it?

>"Yeah." You say and hit him with the hardest, most powerful punch you could muster. So hard that your arm literally demolishes itself.
