You stand without a word, choosing to show no fear or weakness and follow Master Jorrak. The two of you travel together silently, people give you a wide berth as you walk, their buzz turning into soft whispers as they realize what is happening. You see a variety of reactions, snide smiles, worried glances and even the occasion respectful nod. For better or for worse it is time for your judgement. Master Jorrak stops in front of a large set of pitch black doors that you've never seen the other side of and turns to you.

"Master Vessa and Master Korr are both inside. You will go in, sit at the desk in the middle of the room and we will wait for Darth Languish to join us before we begin. If you have any questions or anything you want to say, this is your last opportunity. Once we're in there I am your judge, not your Master."

Jorrak says to you, his voice hard and official.

>What do you say?

>Nothing. Everything to be said has been said.
>Ask about Darth Languish.
>Ask what will happen if you are found guilty.
>Ask if Nivah and Cael'la will be questioned.

Alright. I've got a few extra things to add to this.

Just this stuff here.

This, but also like seeing Tharon conspiring with Rodrik, we can slip it in depending on how things go subtly.

The "bullying" may paint him as too much of a weakling to face Tharon. We want them to think the opposite: that his ambition got the better of him, or that Tharon saw him as a threat.

the bullying we could potentially use to deflect them into thinking that he might have tried to take on Tharon after our training

we shouldn't use the bullying to paint him as a pathetic weakling, thats just what Tharon thought, we should use the bullying to direct their attention to Tharon

We must not at ALL COST talk about where we were training

Mention that, not only did we bring him into our confidence (True) and offer to share our training and support with him,(True), but that he was instrumental in recruiting Taral (True). Maybe also mention that our little cabal is greatly reduced and weakened with his loss.(True).

Everyone saw that he was our ally. Everyone knows we have enjoyed a great deal of success by building a group of allies. As far as everyone else in the academy is concerned, including the instructors, we had no reason to harm Loric and every reason to help him.

And I'm not sure how accurate/helpful that all is really.

I also have a slightly corrected list of people who will be at the trial.

Leave no doubts, we are innocent, we shouldn't ask question, we know the truth shall prevail.

>Loric's Mother: A member of the Dark Council, her impression of us is unclear and her relationship between her and Loric is unknown although if we closely monitor her mood and behavior throughout the trial, we might get a small impression of how she view us and how she views Loric, her son. From divining her mood and emotions in the trial, she may have a hand in influencing the three Sith Master's Judgement for better or for worse if evidence comes to light of us murdering her son.
>Master Jorrak: The Sith Master whom We, Rodrik, and Nivah are under his direct tutelage. He seems to favor you, however he does not give you any special treatment. His opinion of Master Vessa seems to be one of disgust given his remarks upon the other Sith Master. He may be likely to give us a *slightly* lighter judgement.
>Master Vessa: The Other Sith Master who tutors Loric and Tharon. Given how she interacts with you however brief, she is likely to be more strict and unforgiving and willing to back up the clause of "the rules are absolute" case if she finds a foothold in our testimony that gives her clause to accuse us of murder.
>Master Korr: Much is very unknown about Master Korr. Although he is intimidating to approach, he was mildly impressed in our appeal to give Taral’s shelter by communicating in Sith. He seems to be neutral in biased judgement as his duty as the headmaster of the Academy. However, from the impression that we have made upon him, his opinion may have him leaning slightly in your favor, but will likely sway to Master Vessa's side if the latter is given purchase in her accusation (given his duties as headmaster) About korr, he is a traditionalist and a pure blood. he is also the headmaster, so the final decision might be on him.

This is originally from Chibs. Don't blame me for errors or typos.

Agreed - the point of the bullying was only to get across that there was mutual bad blood there, which shouldn't be necessary since the stalking should cover that just fine.

>>37685576
>We must not at ALL COST talk about where we were training
Agreed, but they will probably ask - so better have contingencies. The plan to take them to the new site should be solid.

>>37685576
>And I'm not sure how accurate/helpful that all is really
Yeah, personally found it laying things a bit thick - I mentioned at the bottom of the pastebin that we want to maintain the narrative that Loric was our bro, and killing him gained us nothing...figured that covered it.

Goddammit, this is the dopest shit. I hope this doesn't end with her hating our guts, that's exactly what I wanted Xanth to get involved in next.

"What can you tell me about Darth Languish? Why does she wear that mask?"

You ask calmly.

"She's an intelligent woman, possibly the most intelligent woman in the entirety of the Empire. She is clever, calculating and has the mind of a scientist coupled with the ambition of every Apprentice in this Academy combined. I know very little about her relationship with Loric other then he was bread to become a very powerful Sith. Beyond that she is a mystery to most. Her mask is a powerful computer that can analyze her environment, however I believe it is also used as a means of hiding her expression. Her mask also changes her voice, so it will be difficult to get a read on her. Anything else?"

Master Jorrak explains as quickly as he can.

"Will I be the only one being questioned."

Master Jorrak shakes his head and speaks.

"A few others will be brought in to question. Cael'la, Nivah and a few other who said they saw you at points during the time in question."

You digest this information but before you know it Master Jorrak touches your shoulder.

"It's time."

He says solemnly and opens the two doors. You are ushered into a massive room. On the far side there are five raised desks, two of which are occupied by Master Vessa and Master Korr who is seated in the middle. Master Jorrak quickly makes his way over to the other desk that flanks Master Korr and prepares himself.

"Good, now we only need wait for Darth Languish. Xanth, take your seat. I understand that Jorrak has already explained to you why you're here?"

Master Korr speaks to you as you cross the room and take your seat. You nod to answer his question, your words caught in your own throat.

"Excellent."

The great doors behind you open and you hear the steady thumps of feet marching in step.

Six Imperial Guardsman flank Darth Languish as she enters the room. As she crosses the threshold she turns to her entourage and addresses them.

"Thank you my dears, but from here I must proceed alone. Feel free to guard the door from any... interlopers."

Her voice is obviously altered, like seven voices speaking at once, all of them soft and motherly yet there is something eerie about it. The great doors close behind her with a gesture and she turns to address the room.

"Ah... so this is the young man in question. How interesting. Well, I shouldn't hold things up any longer."

The voices all change this time, distant yet curious. She crosses the room with a subtle grace that unnerves you. Darth Languish takes the seat next to Master Jorrak and addresses him.

"Darth Sever, it's been a long time."

Master Jorrak replies with a small smile and nods to her respectfully.

"Let us begin."

Master Korr says.

"Now then Xanth, you have been formally accused of being involved with you Mister Loric. Tell me, you were seen having left the premise of the Academy with Loric and your other... companions. Is this true?"

"Yes sir."

Your tone is formal and direct as Master Korr watches you carefully.

"Excellent. Now, since your time in the Hunting Grounds you two have been seen spending time around one another. What prompted this, and what was the nature of your relationship with Loric?"

You swallow hard on instinct and prepare to respond.

>What do you say?

>I met Loric out in the desert. He needed help collecting the head of a beast and we offered to assist him if he helped us. We ran into a group of tuk'ata and managed to defeat all of them but one. Loric spoke Sith so I asked him to help me communicate with it. I then asked if he could teach me, and that's why we began spending time together.

Closest to the truth without being it. But it might bring in to question why he needed help when he was so skilled...

"I met Loric out in the desert. He needed help collecting the head of a beast and we offered to assist him if he helped us. We ran into a group of tuk'ata and managed to defeat all of them but one. Loric spoke Sith so I asked him to help me communicate with it. I then asked if he could teach me, and that's why we began spending time together."

You keep your voice as level as possible. Technically none of what you have said is a lie, you've just decided to evade certain inconvenient other truths. The Masters all take notes while Darth Languish stares with those black orbs in your general direction.

"Alright, I believe that covers all of the basics of your meeting. Now, tell us about your time with Loric. Was it a strictly 'professional' relationship? Did you come to see him as a friend? Perhaps more?"

Master Jorrak is the one who speaks this time, his tone solemn and unhurried.

>What do you say?

>It was strictly professional. He taught me Sith in return for helping him. That's all.
>He had begun to become a friend. We had actually gone out training together on the day in question.
>He was... difficult to read at times. I don't think I could every truly gauge our relationship because of that.
>He had joined my 'group' as it were. I grew up a slave, so the friends I've made here are the first family I've ever known. He was a part of that.

This is a trickery question but I have a radical idea. Lets take a second to think about it as a group.

>It was strictly professional. He taught me Sith in return for helping him. That's all.

This is obviously the most terse and least committal, but it's also the farthest from the truth and leads us open to more suspicion.

>He had begun to become a friend. We had actually gone out training together on the day in question.

This one is the exact truth as it is really. Not seeing much of a downside to saying this, maybe a smarter anon could provide one?

>He was... difficult to read at times. I don't think I could every truly gauge our relationship because of that.

Half truth, he was intentionally being difficult to read but we did think of him as our friend.

>He had joined my 'group' as it were. I grew up a slave, so the friends I've made here are the first family I've ever known. He was a part of that.

This, even if it is the truth, seems really implausible and leaves us way more open.

>>
>>37687677
Guys, we've got some time. Stop and logic it out.

>It was strictly professional. He taught me Sith in return for helping him. That's all.
Bare, but makes it seem like we had no investment in Lorric's success, this is the neutral option. Neither helps nor harms.

>He had begun to become a friend. We had actually gone out training together on the day in question.
Bad option. Tells too much, reveals an emotional weakness, and ties us conceptually to the disappearance. Bad option.

>He was... difficult to read at times. I don't think I could every truly gauge our relationship because of that.
Neutral option. Admits our ignorance. Maybe plays into Languish's expectations of her son, maybe not. We don't know. We don't know how much of her is act and how much of her is genuine. But this one says effectively nothing either way. Empty words.

>He had joined my 'group' as it were. I grew up a slave, so the friends I've made here are the first family I've ever known. He was a part of that.
Bad option. Admits emotional weakness, exposes our friends/lovers as potential targets to hurt us later. We don't know enough about Korr's and Languish's personal policies to know whether or not 'family' or 'friendship' have any value to them. This tells too much and wins us nothing.

Objectively, the only 'good' options are 1 and 3. I vote 1
>It was strictly professional. He taught me Sith in return for helping him. That's all.
As it sticks to bare minimum facts. There's not a good option here given our previous blinder, but we'll have to make do.

"He was... difficult to read at times. I don't think I could every truly gauge our relationship because of that."

Darth Languish leans forward slightly and appears to be regarding you, but she says nothing as you feel the weight of her stare.

"Did you know about Loric's family while you were... acquainted? Did you know who he was or how powerful he was?"

Master Jorrak asks,

"No, Master. I knew nothing until today."

Master Jorrak nods solemnly and takes a few more notes.

"Tell us, where were you, Loric and your... companions all going on the morning in question. What were you doing?

This is just kind of weird. It's not really true, but it also makes it seem like a bit of an odd thing to do with someone who's difficult to read, especially somewhere like this.

>>We thought we were being followed so we tried to leave the Academy to get some peace

This might be good if we want to incriminate Tharon as well, we could lead into him leaving after going training maybe?

Maybe this? Seems like going training is the obvious truth to go with but we could say he maybe went off to do his own thing/meet other people and he got nabbed by the thing following us.

I'm going with that.

>We were all going to train together before our lessons
>We thought we were being followed so we tried to leave the Academy to get some peace

Though it still makes it kinda suspicious, why would we go somewhere all alone if we think we are being followed.

>>
>>37689195
This. Mixing answers is almost always a smarter bet. Brine won't give us something perfect, so we have to try and create our own generally.
>>
>>37689195

>>
When Brine returns, I'd like to formally request a re-vote using the 3-minute-final-destination method.

The basic 4chan system prevents duplicate posts within a time frame. So Brine reposts the question with popular options numbered. Every response to that post must be formatted as just
>Post number being responded to
>Number of chosen option.
Anything else in any field automatically disqualifies the vote. A vote cannot be samefagged under this circumstance.

Is this agreeable?

Yea, your guys freaking out kinds flooded the thread so we didn't get very far in.

I think tomorrow I'll start Fantasy Mercenary Quest and give everyone a chance to chill out, though if there's enough demand I might try to finish the trial.

don't worry too much Brine, i think you've been a good QM so far , of course there is room for improvement but the quest is already good.

I don't think its gonna help Brine - as long as we are in this super-tense situation, it's gonna be the same.

I have no agenda regarding seeing more quest, nope, not at all.
>>
>>37691088
Nice le reddit reaction meme!
>>
>>37691016
Only delusional one here is you anon.

>>37691058
That would also be taking the quest away as it would die from that.
>>
>>37690864

Some quests maintain a constant rate through their life. Others hit +20 in the first thread and later threads have a more humble rating. Others have a medium participation rate but hold a high rating. Depends on the type of quest, there isn't an absolute rule to it.
>>
>>37691058
I understood that he wanted to completly avoid waifushit
>>
>>37691104
>as long as we are in this super-tense situation, it's gonna be the same.
Not really, sure things will begin to heat up at the beginning of the next thread, but you won't be a festering ball of tension and stupid decisions in RL between now and the next thread.
>>
>>37691150
Considering where we are now I don't actually believe that.
>>
>>37691150
Then you completely misunderstood him and this quest.
>>
>>37691150
I never wanted to completely avoid it

But this isn't going to devolve into a harem and this stuff is going to take a maaaajor backseat once you graduate considering how little you will see any of these people once you're out on missions for your Master (except maybe Taral).

In reality I allow it because it's going to go away soon enough.
>>
>>37691248
>In reality I allow it because it's going to go away soon enough.
Don't you dare take Nivah away from us.
>>
>>37691130
There are also quests that have a higher participation rate than rating on suptg.
I remember there being around 15-20 UIPs in the last few Over(human) threads and it has a rating of 7 on suptg.
