You are Ur'shal, chieftain of the Stonetusk Clan, currently in council with your lieutenants as you plan your next move. You plan to personally lead a force of orcs out to the borders of your clan's territory to ambush and kill as many Tongueripper scouts as possible, a good way to whittle down the numbers of the overgrown mutants before the inevitable assault on your lands.

Meanwhile, Or'kug and Dru'ak will be heading north with a party to try and convince the Skyhunter Clan's mining camp to abandon their belligerent chieftain and sign up with your clan. You have few enough warriors that you'd rather do this without a fight, but if the diplomatic approach doesn't work, your lieutenants are more than ready to seize the valuable mine and its slaves by force.

The old shapeshifting priest Vor'zal and your lieutenant Ya'zar meanwhile will be tracking down whatever decided to do away with one of your clanmates, a creature apparently capable of reducing a full-sized orc to little more than a burned and desiccated finger with none of your clanmates the wiser.

Finally, in the interest of improving the supplies in your camp, you are planning to send a group of orcs south to cut down some trees from the edge of the jungle, hopefully without the Skinchangers catching wind of your actions and staging a raid on the group. Your old and knowledgeable shaman Ku'zag has assured you that most Skinchangers lack the control to change during daylight hours, so as long as your pack ensures it is long gone from the jungle's edge by sunset, they should avoid any serious trouble.

The only question now is how many orcs you want to send on these missions...

The Tonguerippers are the biggest concern, and while you may outnumber their scouting parties heavily, you also know that the abyss-crazed berserkers are not to be underestimated. A large group of sixty warriors will ensure that you can crush as many Tonguerippers as possible without any serious losses on your side.

As for the others, the mining camp mission will definitely need a lot of warriors.

“Or'kug, Dru'ak, pick out fourty warriors between you, when you take the camp, the Skyhunters will probably retaliate, you need enough of you there to hold it.”

“Of course, don't leave us waiting forever for reinforcements though, it won't just be the Skyhunters who try to dislodge us from the mountains once they hear about this,” Or'kug replies, giving a thin, humorless smile.

You grunt in acknowledgement, moving on to the next of the missions.

“Ya'zar, pick out ten warriors to join you in tracking down whatever is responsible for our missing clanmate. I want it found and dealt with before it can strike again,” you growl.

“No problem, chieftain. I still don't know the whole clan all that well, but I'm sure one of your other lieutenants can point me to some warriors with enough subtlety for the hunt,” he shrugs.

“Also, Zo'rok, put together a logging party of twenty orcs to go down to the jungle and cut as much wood as they can bring back within the next three days. Make sure they know not to be anywhere near the jungle's edge after dark.”

“You want anyone leading that one, Ur?” your friend asks.

>>37753514
I'll go with Or'kaz actually. He ought to have a decent eye as a weapon smith... and maybe a goatfoot or two if they know anything about being a bow-maker. He'd do with supervision though I don't want him falling into bad habits again.

Any picks gentleorcs? I'm kinda leaning towards Zo'rok for his sneaky bastard nature and how they're going to be dangerously close to elves doing this. He's about the best counter sneak we got at the moment.

Well, for one thing, a fire dragon is just a dragon. Sure, dragons are a scary bunch, but they're a relatively well-known variable. Their magical capabilities are things we could encounter with any magic user, and otherwise they're just big not-lizards with breathweapons.
Succubi, on the other hand, are some kind of creatures using divine magic specifically relating to sex, possibly about sucking out life-force.

>You're forgetting the part where a succubi would likely be abyssal and a very bad idea to bang.

Nah, not abyssal.

I've mentioned it before, but "demons" is a human term to refer to divine servants that they consider evil.

Horrors is the term to refer to things from the abyss.
>>
>>37753838

From thread 26:
>“I was thinking about what you said, about drugging the Skinchanger to keep her docile. Do we have enough resources to do it?”
>“We should, although it will leave us short on supplies. Next time you go to the jungle, if you could take Zo'rok, or some elf slave who knows plants, to bring back more for me that would be useful,” Ku'zag grumbles.

Kind of relevant.

In here there are just Fire, Earth, Water, and Air dragons.
It's also not certain that Fire dragons are ACTUALLY red, I think there's some color variation between individuals, and there were talks of making new classifications and further dividing the kinds, since some dragons have different colored breathweapons, some have feathers, etc.
But yes, the dragonwaifu in the jungle is probably red and feathered, as far as I recall Lordy saying things about her.

“No herbs in existance could do that, Ur,” Zo'rok cackles, as you hear a snort from the old shaman.

“Alright, you all know what you have to do, but the most important thing right now is not getting caught unprepared by the Tonguerippers or Slaagyr. If any of you spot any sign of an impending attack while you're out on your missions, you come back and report on it immediately.”

You are Vor'zal, priest of Tak'zaya Ska. You are currently being an orc, because you have not been an orc in a long time. You had forgotten how frustrating being an orc could be. Still, while living as a beast is far more to your liking, you have some scraps of concern for the future of your people, so for now you will aid this young chieftain until he no longer needs you, then perhaps you will spend a few years as a Needleback in the Deep Wastes.

At least the chieftain knows how to use your skills best. You are to hunt something which killed one of his clan. It stinks, you do not think you will have trouble hunting it. You also do not think that it is a thing you will wish to eat, it reeks of acrid chemicals and dry flesh, and inhaling too deeply brings an unpleasant chill to your throat.

The lieutenant you are accompanying is gathering the other orcs, you are glad to leave it to him, you do not know who the other orcs are. You have trouble telling orcs apart still, perhaps you will relearn it someday. First you are relearning how to speak orc words with an orc tongue, such a pain.

Orcs literally have gods who condone being a warrior walking in open flames and cutting down everyone in your path.
Koz'rak enjoyed the fight in the mountains where he got covered in blood.
Sho'ka literally got dripping wet about fucking on top of the slain corpse of an enemy troll.
We have a god who supports using torture and ruining corpses to strike fear in the heart of our enemies.
And bathing yourself in the blood, which is often thought of as the life force, of a very powerful being, a dragon, that he just killed in the heat of a huge battle, is too far?
I hope you at least don't have a problem with the heart eating, if it has the possibility of something cool.

You stare into the waste while you wait. The stink and noise of the camp is distracting, sweat, blood, fluids, booming voices and moaning slaves. You blank it out, your ears twitching, sniffing the air. Rootsuckers to the east, small family group, it makes you hungry. Bloatfrog hiding in a cave nearby too, planning to ambush the rootsuckers most likely. The acrid stink is vague now, but you can still smell it.

Jesus Christ, the people thinking blood bathing is cool are by far less pedantic and obnoxious then you fucking cunts. If we had the knowledge, I'd push for blood sprinklers just to watch you retards froth

from wikipedia
>Odin, posing as an old man, advises Sigurd to dig trenches also to drain the blood, and to bathe in it after killing the dragon; bathing in a dragon's blood confers invulnerability. Sigurd does so and successfully kills Fafnir; Regin then asked Sigurd to give him Fafnir's heart for himself. Sigurd drinks some of Fafnir's blood and gains the ability to understand the language of birds. Birds advise him to kill Regin, since Regin has also been corrupted by the ring and is plotting Sigurd's death. Sigurd beheads Regin, roasts Fafnir's heart and consumes part of it. This gives him the gift of "wisdom" (prophecy).

I have no problem if it gains us something and im the middle one.

It's the pointless "hurr let bathe in blood" shit that I dont condone.

Funny thing is that isn't in our quests' universe.

So yeah.
>>
>>37755653
Who gives a fuck? It'd probably gain us benefits via the Orc Gods seeing Urushal getting into it and being like 'damn, this nigga is srzs, bless him.' Otherwise, scare tactic?
>>
>>37755689
Yeah but its a reason to bathe in blood without being a "14 year old edgemaster"
>>
>>37755605
Well fuck you too?
Blood bathing sounds cool, rather messy in action, so a point to it would be preferable.
>>
>>37755689
Doesn't our Hunter Goddess approve of hunting strong monsters, eating their flesh and wearing their skin? If you think it's retarded take a bone with the Gods in this quest
>>
>>37755710
Its also a very silly one unless the shamans and legends can give us an actual reason.

>>37755742
Like that. Thats an actual damn reason to do things like this.

we orc Riddick now?

Nah, we use the dragons skull to mount a throne on, reinforce it and lay with metals and gems so it won't crack when we have our harem laid out over it while we lord over.

While orcs are a-okay with getting covered in blood in battle, actually bathing in a big pool of it would be considered a little strange.

Now doing something dramatic on the battlefield like tearing out a dangerous enemy's heart and eating it to make the enemy force collectively shit themselves is something that several of the orc gods could appreciate for various reasons.
>>
>>37756022
Uh, I am calm. I was just honestly curious.
>>
>>37756160
So if we were to say "I WILL BATHE IN YOUR BLOOD" it would most likely just be an expression?

Well that's fine, eating our enemies heart in the middle of a battle sounds way more badass anyway

No, it probably means that we're fighting something significantly taller that us. That way it's pretty likely we'll hip get showered in its blood and gore when we gut it.

Probably both.

We aren't becoming a vampire just so you can be edgy.
>>
>>37756389
>What if we were an Orc vampire? Hrmm...

Well, first off we'd be abandoned by the orcish gods and find ourselves reliant on the vampiric pantheon. Second, we'd probably have our work cut out for us surviving since we'd be a noob.

Wait, have the same kind of myth about her like Dracula spread to the west? You guys do realize she was a real person who wasn't a vampire, right? Is there some established mythos about her in modern fantasy I'm not aware of?
>>
>>37756571
>We'd still have favor with the orcish pantheon.

how? we wouldn't be an orc anymore as far as the gods are concerned,
>>
You crouch low, sniffing again. Your quarry came from the north and returned to the north, towards the mountains. It moves light and fast, and it is quiet and cunning. You will enjoy this.

“Right, good plan,” you hear the lieutenant sigh as you stalk out into the wastes silently, sniffing the air, the orcs following behind you.

You stick to the train as closely as possible, which proves difficult. This thing does not seem concerned about difficult terrain, narrow crevasses or sheer rock faces, going straight over them as if they were flat ground. The lieutenant, the warg, and most of the warriors are keeping up well, though a couple start to fall behind. You will keep an eye on them, if your prey seeks to pick off stragglers, you will be ready when it reveals itself.

You clamber up on top of a large rock following the trail, squinting into the noonday sun peeking between the looming shadows of the Howling Mountains. You have followed this trail a long way, it came out of the mountains then. You peer over the edge of the rock, finding something lodged in a small gap, a pair of stingworms hissing at you as you pull your prize loose.

>>
>>37756638
You stare at it, it stares back. Half an orc head. The top half. Probably the missing orc. Your fingertips brush over the edges of the neat, circular hole drilled through the back of the skull, the dessicated flesh of the face twisted into a rictus howl of agony.

The same stink of acrid chemicals clings to the skull, it makes your nose itch. It is stronger, your prey touched this part of the body far more recently than the finger you found before.

“What did you find?” the lieutenant asks.

You show him the skull, making him snarl.

“Any idea what could do a thing like that, priest?”

You don't know, so you toss the skull aside. The thing you are hunting is definitely nearby, do you wish to change your tactics here, or continue as before?

>Continue following the trail at the front of the group.
>Go on ahead, hunt it solo.
>Make one of the orcs act as bait so you can strike.
>>
>>37756571
If there are vampires then at minimum there is (or at least was) a vampiric blood god. Probably also a god of bone and corruption, but that's less necessary.

As for the Orcish pantheon. Well, we'd be dead and our soul denied to them. They'd probably be a bit miffed with the mockery of Ur we'd become to be blunt. So yeah, no favor there.

A vampire orc is not necessarily lost to the orcish gods. Such an undead orc would have to work far harder to prove his worth and loyalty to the gods however, and would have to achieve enough during his (un)lifetime to be worthy of them fighting with the Eater of Souls, patron deity of vampires, to claim the orc's soul after his final death.
>>
>>37756844
That sounds kind of cool actually. I'm not very keen on becoming a vampire orc but I don't think I'd be very upset if we did become one somehow
>>
>>37756844
thanks, and from the sounds of this could it mean we could get boons from other gods if they are neutral to orcs?

Not happy about this after missing Thursday's thread, but my internet is playing up now.

Spent the last twenty-odd minutes waiting for it to come back properly and it isn't.

Going to have to call the thread there for the moment and see about continuing this thread tomorrow if it's back by then. Keep an eye on the twitter.

Sorry again to everyone, this hasn't been a good week for my quest.
>>
>>37756932
You realize other pantheons would contain other gods, who function the same as orc gods right? Its not like bloodthirst is an orc exclusive. Read a book
>>
>>37757526

It's almost 1am anyway, you should snooze so you can get a KWALITY Sunday.
>>
>>37757526
That's understandable, just be sure to give us an hour or more warning.
Any ETA on when we can expect it at the soonest? Morning or afternoon?
>>
>>37756932
A large part of the motivation for giving someone boons is that you can ultimately claim that person's soul to join your divine servants who help you against the Abyss and anyone else you're fighting.
People only have one soul.

Sometimes a guy is beneficial enough to a pantheon's people as a whole that they pile belssings onto him, but as can be clearly seen with dedicated priests only worshipping one deity and the most awesome shit being held back for dedicated priests, even in the same pantheon that has limits.

There's no way you're getting blessings from a pantheon that can't be sure your soul will end up with them.
>>
>>37757600
Best guess, afternoon. I'll give an hour or two warning though.
>>
>>37757632

MSQ was his main inspiration to run the quest
