The trip over to the town where Major Nick Rostu is waiting to debrief you and give you your new orders is a short one with a dropship to help you. The town is no city, but it has a whole lot of houses, streets and a river crossing through it. Civilians are still walking out on the streets since the droids never took possession of this town and a battle has yet to erupt here between the forces of GAR and the CIS. The dropship touches down on the ground and Sierra squad jumps off before the ship takes off into the air again. You were told on the ship that the Major would be waiting for you in the Townhall. You just tried to contact the Major but something is jamming your comm. That's never good.

However, the journey through the town is a pleasant one where your team is saluted and cheered by most other clone troopers after they've heard briefly about what you did at the powerplant. Some of these soldiers wouldn't have made it planetside had it not been for you. The townspeople greet you with pleasantries and nod at you with respect when you pass by as well.

"We're finally famous!", Joker exclaims, a bit too excited for one of his jokingly remarks, "It won't last long.", Ones tries to bring Joker down, but fails when another batch of clone troopers pass them by, cheering them on. Upon entering the Townshall you're greeted by a couple of alien soldiers who point into the next room where Major Rostu is with Commander Ti and a male civilian in formal cloths. Behind the formal civilian stands a woman with two children, both of them girls. One of them points at you in pure excitement and pulls at her mom's sleeve while the other little girl hides behind her mother at the sight of you. Probably shy or afraid of the four men in white armours and armed to the teeth. In this small mass of people, the four of you stick out like a sore thumb.

"Ah, Sierra squad.", Major Rostu welcomes you, "I believe you're already acquainted with Commander Ti here.", He continues and motions towards Yna before his hand moves on to the formally clad man with possibly his wife and two daughters behind him, "This here is Mayor Thompson and his family. He has graciously agreed to let the 44th divison set up its Command on-site post here while we operate on Atraken."

The man clumisly salutes you respectfully, but remains quiet.

"Report what happened at the powerplant, Four-Five.", The Major orders you.

"We turned the powergrid off-line and shut down the building, sir. When the droids noticed it, a platoon of them diverged from their main force and marched on us. We blew up the front and back entrances and held the building from the roof till reinforcements arrived. The powergrid of the complex is still undamaged and can be turned online again at any moment.", you summarize it with as few words as you can while still telling the Major exactly what he wanted to hear. Of course they'd have to fix the controls and targetting systems of all the seperate AA guns, but that was for someone else to do.

"Good work, Sierra.", the Major compliments you, and Yna nods at you with a bright smile from behind him. She seems to be excited to be in the midst of action again for some reason. Maybe the sparring match spurred her on?

"Because of the jamming signal, I haven't been informed of the situation of my outlying forces around Atraken, so your orders are on hold as of this moment, Sierra. Stay alert and wait for the men I sent out to fix the jamming signal to hail us back. See if you can't tag tactical positions around and inside of the town if CIS forces attack us. The town is outside of any AA guns range as far as I've been told, so it's just a matter of time before the clankers drop off droids outside of it.", the Major continues to explain the situation to you. You have free reign for now until the jamming signal has been dealt with. The Major returns to speak with Yna while the mayor turns around and talks with his wife who sat down a couple of seconds ago. One of the daughters are staring at you with her big blue eyes while the other has her face pressed against her mothers dress, hiding it from you.

He values clone lives as significantly more than tactical assets, considering them all equal in value despite the fact that this is clearly not the case, suggesting, as well as a strong sense of fraternity, that he is significantly left leaning politically, arguably marxist in belief system. Also he represents Khorne.
>>

I can mostly agree with the rest. I don't see the marxistism. However the Khrone thing is something people in thread are commenting on due to the constant eights we got and saying that. Nothing in quest has shown that at all.
>>
>>37775012
He went out of his way to save soldiers in the gunship, went out of his way to waste supplies on standard clone infantry (as opposed to keeping tactical supplies for himself), and has frequently undertaken actions to limit the deaths of his fellow soldiers, even at the potential expense of himself or his squad. That is something that is highly marxist for someone who is an elite soldier who is arguably more valuable than a hundred standard troops.
>>
>>37775033
it's called caring for your brother soldiers and sharing the resources you don't need that doesn't mean you're marxist

While commander Ti and major Rostu are talking about something, seemingly arguing a bit in the other end of the room, you decide that you shouldn't intervene right now. Instead, you and your squad members approach the mayor and his family. The wife looks slightly annoyed at your approach as both her daughters react extremely differently and she has to take care of both of them. The mayor turns around and faces you. He looks to be around fifty years old, well built, receding hairlines and aside from his black hair, there are gray areas on both sides of his hair, reaching up towards the top and the back. His face is gaunt and his eyes are grim, but even so he flashes a smile at you. You can't tell if it's a fake smile built upon a facade or if he's genuinly happy.

"How can I help you, commander?", the mayor asks and you notice the edge to his voice, as if he's holding something back. Nevertheless, you proceed with what you had planned to ask and talk about with this man.

"We'd like to thank you for you hospitality, sir. The Republic appreciates all the help it can get.", you start off and the man continues to keep his smile up, "No need to thank us; We're just happy to help you.", and he sounds very sincere when he says it. It's good to see that despite the galaxy is at war, people can still keep their mood up and their principles intact. For now. The excited little girl finally breaks loose from her mothers grip and rushes past her father and grips onto your armour clad gauntlet.

CONT.

"May I?", you look at the mayor as you place your thumb at the bottom end of your helmet, "I don't see why not.", the father understands the gesture and watches as you go down on one knee in front of the girl and takes off your helmet. She stares into your eyes with her own blue ones.

"You look just like dad!", she exclaims and touches your cheek with one of her hands. You remain passive where you are. She must be around 7 or 8 years old.

"If only chief was that handsome.", you hear Joker in the background followed by not only his but also Ones chuckles. Mute remains quiet as the good soldier he is. The other younger girl who was hiding behind her mother has now stepped forward, taking slow and careful steps towards you.

"Come, Illia.", the big sister who's holding your gauntlet says and stretches out her hand to grab her sisters and guide her closer towards you. The little sister has been crying and she looks a bit tired. After a few moments of hesitation, the little girl also stretch her hand out in uncertainty and caress it towards your other cheek.

"You are not danger.", she whispers and a smile starts to form on her lips.

"Only to bad droids.", you reassure them and pat them on their hands before you rise up again, keeping your helmet in your hand for now as you face the mayor again. The wife is clearly not interested in acknowledging you for whatever reasons she may or may not have. The mayor picks up the oldest of his girls while the youngest goes back to her mother's embrace, still looking at you and your other brothers.

"What is the civilian situation here, sir?", you ask the man holding his excited daughter in his arms. He ponders for a couple of seconds.

"What you'd expect; Most of them are staying in their houses till this all blows over. They're not afraid of you, but as long you stay here there's a higher risk of a CIS attack.", the mayor explains to which Ones cut in, "Then why are you allowing us to set up our command outpost here if it endangers the town?" - The mayor sighs and rubs his temple.

"If we don't help the Republic we'll end up without any resources to export and then this planet and its citizens will starve. If putting my people at harm's way saves this planet, then that's a risk both me and my people are willing to risk.", he explains himself with a voice filled with pride. You even notice that his wife looks at him, admiring the man she married with a smile painting her lips. Ones falls silent and gives the word back to you after you give him a stern look.

"We thank you for your service to the Republic.", you put on your helmet again and with a short salute from you and your brothers as a 'thank you', you move away from the mayor and his family, satisfied with the answers you've been given and the reassurance you gave them. Yna and the Major is still deep in their discussion at the other end of the room, away from prying ears.

Commander Ti and major Rostu are still in a discussion about who knows what, so you and Sierra squad moves out from the townshall to find and tag some tactical positions around town and set up defensive perimeters in case the town is ever attacked. However, you only get around 50 meters away from the building before you hear a screeching sound from above; several large CIS dropships fly over the town and prepares to land with their troops outside of it on the northern and southern edges of it. They most certainly intend to march through the town from both ends, killing everything in sight. While this is Command's outpost, the majority of the 44th's division is off on their own missions and the front lines by the mines.

When the last dropship flies over the townhall, it fires a shot right at it, setting the building onto flames after the initial explosion. You also notice that the dropships have released some form of green gas that is slowly, but surely, decending down all over the town.

>Rush back to the townhall.
>Decompress your helmets exterior in case the green gas is poison or acid.
>Send someone to check up on the Townhall while the rest of the team tries to gather all the soldiers around town to form defensive positions. (who to send?)

"Decrompress your helmets, turn on your filtration system and form up on me, Sierra!", you bark out your order quickly as you complete the quick ritual from a training excercise done several times over several years. You and your brothers rush back towards the burning townhall. The green smoke has already touched the ground by the time you arrive. At the barely recognizeable entrance, you notice the bodies of all the alien soldiers that served as the major's 'guards'. You move past them, quickly finding yourself in the room. Yna is sitting in the corner with a gasmask on her face. She has her back towards the entrance, gripping part of her face and seems to generally be freaking out. The major is wearing his helmet and is over by the family who didn't have any gasmasks at hand, because why would they? There was no intel on the droids usage of gas. However, how could Yna have a mask with her then? Did the general or the major know something you didn't or was she just cautious?

It seems the flames are still dancing at the rooftops and the hole the separatist ship blew open. It's not of big concern yet.

God dammit, we really should nickname Commander Ti "taffy" because of all the sticky shit we get into whenever she's around.

Anyway, see if we can't give them a gasmask of ours if we have a spare, pick em up and carry them outside with the rest of Sierra squad. Set up a triage area and instruct them to appropriate a nearby sturdy building that isn't on fire and tell them to organize bucket brigades with other civillians to stem the fires that are gonna be raging.

Rest of Sierra organizes defense of the town. Assuming a limited supply of soldiers and a major offensive by the CIS, ambush tactics necessary (ie, have individuals near the edge of town ambush droids as a frontline, buy time for sierra and other soldiers to lay bombs and traps along roadways, create blockades, etc.)
>>
>>37777782
I like it. would we be known as PB then
>>
>>37777782

also, have commander Ti do scouting of enemy locations and doing hit an run tactics. She knows leap and speed so she should be able to get in and out quick with limited danger, and can grab a couple of canisters to mark where the droids are coming from if the groups are too big for her to handle.
>>
>>37777702
ok, so let's make lists:
1. No air superiority or anti-air assets available
2. No coordination, command or support due to comms being down
3. No idea of enemy troop comp.

So, we're not going to be too useful as commandos. I think we should hook up with the rest of the division and try to hug the enemy to neutralize their support options.
>>
>>37777846
>we're not going to be too useful as commandos.
Who else is going to snipe the droids from the rooftops then?
>>
>>37777846
I think we need Mute in some really high ground to snipe and see where we are needed.
>>
Do we have any vehicles in the town? like transports or heavy ground vehicles? because we could use those to set up defense or to get civilians out of harms way.
>>
>>37777874
Hopefully nobody. Let's not try a static defense unless you like being on the wrong end of artillery.

You order Joker to go see Yna while the rest of the squad checks up with the major and the family. The green gas is thick inside the townshall. Upon reaching them it is as you feared; organic acid gas. This kind of weaponized gas is illegal in Republic space. If an organic breaths it in, the gas melts the organs and the exterior of the body from within until they become nothing but empty, melted husks. The more you breath in, the stronger the effect it. The wife is dead on the ground, her entire face has been melted. Her two now bald and somewhat deformed daughters are crying loudly next to her, gripping at her dress and screaming for their mother, while the father is on his knees looking up at Major Rostu. His skin and nose has melted over his mouth so he can't speak and his hands are twitching in pain. He knows just as well as you that they're dead. However, you're not sure about putting them out of their misery. You didn't do it for Echo leader, but maybe that was different? He could at least be saved. The only thing awaiting these people are an agonizing death.

In the end, it's Major Rostu that puts the man and his suffering daughters out of their misery. After that, Nick Rostu just stands there, staring the the dead family, his gun still in hand with his finger on the trigger. You're not sure what to say until he speaks to you through the helmet, "Round up all of my soldiers in the city, and bring them back here. We need to defend this location.", his voice is cold, but it shakes a bit at the end, cracking down on him.

"Yes, sir.", you reply and turn towards where Joker is now kneeling down in front of Yna. She's still covering half her face. It can't be, right? You jog over to her with your brothers in tow. When you try to walk in front of her to see if she's suffering from any wounds or any effects from the gas, she recoils away from you, not wanting anyone else to see her face.

>"It's okay, Yna. Let me see." - convince her to show it to you.
>Leave it up to Joker to help her while you and the rest of your brothers follow the Majors orders.
>Order everyone to follow the Majors orders while you stay here with Yna for a little while to comfort her.

"It's okay, Yna. Let me see.", you tell her when she turns away from you when you approach her. She hesitates for a couple of seconds before she looks your way. Her gasmask covers the lower part of her face, but you can see everything above the nose; The entire left side of her face has melted off to the side, leaving half her face deformed. Her left ear is gone, the cheekbone is almost visible, her eyebrow is gone and her eyelid on her left eye is gone as well. All the hair on the left side of her head is gone too. You're certain that the same has happened to the lower end of her face as well.

"It's horrible.", She whispers, her emotions clear as day; Angry and sad. Her hands are shaking from the pain, her left hand deformed as well. You start to wonder if the entire left side of her body is deformed too, but you quickly gain your focus back. You pull out a bacta injector adnd inject her with some to ease the pain all over her body for now. She shouldn't be moving around in her state now though. For now, she needs to sit down and rest while you and Sierra squad take care of everything else.

The major asked you to get his soldiers back here to form up a defensive blockade until the jamming signal is gone so the major can call in for reinforcements. There are several POV's around town and you can hear fighting in the south end of town. Some soldiers must already be engaged with enemy infantry.

tell her it don't look so bad and that she can get it fixed later anyways.

approach the fighting sounds from two different locations- you from one side and two squadmates from the other. have the last one stay behind to protect the VIPs, and ask the team who wants to stay.

mainly because I can't tell if Joker would be better off staying here or keeping his mind occupied with something else. I'm also thinking that Mute is too useful to leave behind.
>>
>>37778858
We're moving up to the point and assisting our brothers in holding this CP.
If we're close enough to the enemy, we can avoid getting shot by arty or enemy CAS. Tactics will consist of hitting the enemy hard at major chokepoints, then falling back to the next chokepoint. First priority will be enemy armor, then command units, then infantry.
>>
As much as I would like Joker to stick with Yna, I think we might need all hands on deck to get the soldiers enough breathing room to fall back and not be overpowered in the process.

"Prepare all the explosives you have left, Ones.", you start after checking your HUD for tactical advice. "All of it?", Ones question you first, but after a short nod he pulls off his backpack to put all explosives up front for quick usage and planting. Joker is still sitting with Yna when you approach the two, "Yna, I...", but you can't find any words to say as your eyes move from her wounds to the dead family where the major is still standing, holding onto the gun that ended their life out of mercy. You give her a short and a bit clumsy hug from behind, but she put her arm around yours for a moment before you break off. That felt odd, but you force yourself to focus at the task at hand.

"Joker, I need you to stay here and protect Yna.", you order him, looking over at the major as well. Joker meets your gaze when you look back and he nods. This only leaves Mute left. He's standing on the opposite side of the Major, looking down at the dead family, especially the daughters. He doesn't hear you the first three times you call out to him. He only reacts when you've approached him and put a hand on his shoulder. "I need you to focus, Mute.", you remind him of what's happening all around him.

"Yes, sir.", he calls out and follows you out from the townhall with Ones. He throws one last glance back at the dead family. Whatever he was thinking, it couldn't have been anything jolly.

"Mute, I want you up on the roof with your sniper; Provide what little air support you can give us. I will run north and gather whatever soldiers that was stationed up there while you run south, Ones. You will place bombs along the streets the droids will march through. Get the soldiers out of there and place charges and explosives on your way back. Is that understand, men?!", and they respond with a "Sir, yes, sir!" roar before you all disperse. The plan for yourself is to get north, gather enough men and then fall back to the next best chokepoint and attack the CIS forces from there and then continue to move back south from chokepoint to cokepoint until you reach the townhall again. That ought to keep them at bay long enough for whatever team the major sent out to destroy the jamming device.

You thought Geonosis was a desperate fight, but you have a feeling that you're about to be lectured about real war.

///

And here I have to end it tonight. Got school tomorrow at 8 am, so I need some proper sleep. Thanks for the run guys!

Thanks for the thread.

I have a feeling that other than keeping his brothers alive, Chief has a new reason to fight.

If we find the officers responsible...
>>
>>37779711
Oh yeah. Republic sentiment just went from 'occasional Holonet story' to full REMOVE CLANKER. You best believe we're breaking out the baradium warheads after today.

Thank's for the thread Whiskey.

Thanls for the ride OP, I've just finished editing something for you, but my computer crashed so I'm writing from the mobile phone while it starts up again, I've edited Yna, so you can still use her Image in future Quest threads, now if you hold on a sec while everything turns on again I will deliver.

Ah Fuck I missed it. Good read though.

Whiskey you are such an asshole. god damn poor Yna getting her face melted. And the whole fucking town. Jeeze man you know how to write asshole tier tactics. Fucking acid gas?!

Congrats next thread we are going full khorne flake and killing so much clanker their oil suddenly turns into a blood and when we're done we're going to record us taking all the clanker heads and making a throne out of it.

If we find the organic shitlords who ordered this they're the centerpiece of said throne. Bonus points if we put a hole in their heads and piss on their grey matter before that.

It really felt like I took a leap of faith though since I've seen what happens to quests when a QM does something like this, even if it's small compared to doing something drastic like killing off Joker or something at this point.

"Glad" to see it paid off.

At least that's something!

HAH!

okay that was horrible of me but I just realized this might finally make that one guy that annoyed the hell out of me pining over yna calling whiskey a railroader bugger off.

That or he's hopping mad that whiskey decided bad shit happens to nice people because welcome to fucking war time with robotic asshats.

quest players are notorious babies when their favorites are harmed/maimed. I'm glad to see the exact opposite around here. We're pissed. we're motivated and about to commit about 8 robot hate crimes at once.
>>
>>37780431
We shall kill them with fire!

Whats that?

What do you mean some droids can't be killed with fire, fuck it we'll do it anyway!

Actually, Fire is the top-most excellent way to kill droids and vehicles, anything that says it isn't it's because they believe in hollwood flamethrowers

Between a long term bacta dip and Star Wars advances in surgery, Yda will be fine and back to her pretty self quick as long as she gets off world.
>>
>>37781059
And thanks to cloning innovations the mayor, the towns civilians, and the mayors family will all be COMPLETELY fine...
>>
>>37781084
I..I don't know about that anon ;_;
>>
>>37781084
Eh, Cloning doesn't really work that way. Spaarti clones are notoriously unstable, and Kaminoan Clones take time to grow.

If you're feeling really weepy, go take some dna samples from the kids and get them an unaltered kaminoan clone or some shit later.

The core reason clones, especially flash-grown types like with Spaarti cylinders, go insane is because they're a glitch in the force.
