/tg/ - Traditional Games

You kick down yet another door and move in, the sound of a blaster round going off nearby. You move into the nearby room with your rifle raised, but you find only another clone trooper with his blaster in hand and a dead civilian on the ground. The skin upon her face marks yet another dead person from the gas. No words need to be said when the two of you look at each other. He nods at you and leaves the building, joining up with the small band of clone troopers you've gathered on your run from the townshall. The memory of the dead mayor and his family is still fresh in your mind. Every time you close your eyes you see them, their radiating smiles and small hands caressing your cheeks. Shaking your head, you try to focus at the task at hand.

"Incoming!", a clone roars when you leave the building just before a part of the street close to the group explodes into a rain of burnt pieces of concrete. Up ahead a large convoy of infantry and three tanks are moving steadily down through the town. This is it. You won't be able to gather up more men any further north of the townshall. You signal the men to take positions in the nearby houses, separating and placing the clone heavy gunners in different houses to take out the tanks and then focus on the infantry. There isn't any commanding unit with them as far as you can tell.

The convoy, with its tanks and infantry, rolls easily past the first few clones in the houses, but the droids send out small squads to check each house. When the first squads are just about to kick down the first pair of houses, you scream out, "Fire!", and the heavy gunners fire off the missiles from their launchers. The tanks explode and the infantry droids start to fire at the houses. The clones respond and a firefight has broken out. Suddenly you hear Joker over the comm.

"Chief, the comms are working again. Yna just ran out from the townshall and the Major has called for reinforcements. What should I do?"

>Order your men to retreat to the next chokepoint.
>Order Joker to stay in the Townshall and protect the Major.
>Order Joker to follow Yna.

"Stay in the townshall with the major, Joker!", you order him, your chin pressed down onto the trigger that activates the comm in your helmet, "If commander Ti thinks she can take care of herself, then let her. We need to hold the townshall and keep the major alive!" - You've come to realise that high morale can win most battles, even those when you're outnumbered. If you lost the major now, the men of the 44th division might retaliate with great zealotry at first, but sooner or later their morale will drop and the battle for this planet will be lost. There's a quiet moment from the other side of the comm before Joker responds, "Affirmative, sir."

You look out the window and the firefight might have just started, but all three of the CIS tanks have been destroyed and the droids are being slaughtered out in the open street while they are desperately trying to coordinate with each other while fighting off the clones inside the houses. It doesn't take long until the droids are all destroyed. However, before you can issue further orders, the house on the opposite side of your cover is hit by cannon rounds and within seconds the entire upper level of the house caves in, followed by the entire house falling apart in fire.

"One-nine, do you copy?", you call out to the clone you put in charge over at that house, "One-nine, do you copy?" - no answer. Looking out the window you spot an even larger convoy up ahead, moving down towards where you're stationed right now. You can spot about five tanks, two medium-large platoons of 50 droids in each one and a commando unit rolling at the back of the convoy.

"What are your orders, sir?", a clone next to you shows his concern when he sees the same sight you just saw. You've lost possibly ten men and you only have 12 men, including yourself, left.

"Five-seven, Three-One, and Four-two", you call out to the men closest to you and they turn to you with absolute attention, "I want you three to search the house for survivors and evacuate them quickly to the second chokepoint. The rest of you, retreat to the next chokepoint." your voice carries over to the other soldiers. No one questions your orders, but you can tell that more men wants to search the house for survivors. However, with the CIS convoy closing in, even if they did find someone alive in there, they might all die before they can escape south, further into town. You only send three men so the risk won't be as high, but you still try to save one of your wounded brothers if someone is still alive. The two still alive heavy gunners that reported back to you pack up their missile launchers and rush after you and the other nine soldiers who have kicked into a jog further down the road, away from the tanks and the droids. The next chokepoint will be where the main road swirls left, heading towards the crossing right before the townshall. This would be your second stand against the incoming CIS forces. The thought of avenging the dead children and their parents clang in the back of your head, but your mind remains focused with the knowledge of an upcoming fight.

"Chief, do you copy?", the voice of Ones cling to your ear and you acknowledge him. "The droids have broken through on three fronts and I only have men to defend one point. We're being overrun close to the townshall. What are your orders?", he continues. Ones must have less men than you and he must be at the last chokepoint on the road before the townshall. If they retreat, they'll be stuck defending the hall from within as their last stand without any support, but if they stay at their chokepoint they have a greater chance to strike a blow against the southern CIS forces, but they run the risk of sacrificing themselves. You've reached the second chokepoint and the CIS convoy is on its way. The men you sent to the building has also returned with two survivors, but the third heavy gunner is confirmed KIA. The situation is dire.

>Order Ones to retreat back to the townshall.
>Order Ones to stay and defend that point.

We are divided, we managed to hit them hard before but that was just the first wave, they clearly must have learned from their errors already.

Divided we fall, United we stand. I say we should regroup into a main force, with the mayor at the towns hall, he can lead the defense from there and the towns hall itself provides some cover.

>Order you Ones to stay/retreat (choose) and order your men to retreat to the townshall to link up with them.

they have artillery. holing up in a building is a bad, bad idea.

these situations are where strike teams shine best by splitting off from the main force and sneak attacking their most problematic aspects, but we're kinda low on numbers and I don't know what the layout of the battlefield looks like.

honestly, the major is probably dead and we probably don't have anything to defend, so my vote's on just scattering about, letting them enter the town and switching to guerilla tactics.

"Retreat back to the town's hall, Ones.", and after a short acknowledgement from the commando over the comm, you turn to your men, signalling them to retreat as well. No point holding this chokepoint or the next one if Ones and his men are overrun by the time they reach the town's hall. You and your band of brothers move south towards the center to support Ones, Joker, and the Major. In the distance you can see the large convoy hunting you with a slow, but progressive pace. The droids are checking every house from here and down south, executing any hiding clone soldier or civilian that are still in agony from the gas. You pass through the crossing as quickly as you can, but you order your heavy gunners to place whatever proximity mines they have by the road from here to the town's hall further down south.

By the time you reach the city center where the hall is located, you spot the CIS forces that are advancing upon the town's hall, firing at it with everything they have while Ones, Joker, Major, and their remaining few soldiers are fighting them off behind their covers inside of the building. "Get inside the building, men!", you order your men while you rush off in another direction. They're confused at first, but then they remember what you are besides a born leader. A commando. While your men diverge on the town's hall to link up with their brother's defenses, you jog in between other buildings, heading past the CIS forces from the side until you reach their back. The houses between you disappear when you get out on the street behind the enemy lines. To the south there's no droids and to the north, towards the town's hall, are all the droids between you and your brothers. No tanks in sight, only a whole lot of battle droids and SBDs in good formation moving towards the Major's location.

How even. We are not a counter-battery radar and the artillery is gonna be fired from miles away. We're not gonna jog all the way there and take it out ourselves, and again, if enemy forces are so close it's not going to be fired here anyway.
>>
Oddly enough going full close combat might of been a brilliant idea this time. A single target charging straight into their ranks under the cover of grenade chaos could of used droids as shields and cover to prevent any real blasterfire hitting him. the moment their numbers thinned out or organized it'd be time to run though.

At least this'll get their attention.

You leap into the closest cover you can find, which turns out to be a destroyed POV, and attach your grenade launcher onto your rifle and loads it with a grenade modified for the launcher. Before you start firing, you throw out a thermal detonator and an Ion grenade each into the droid lines and after they've exploded, sending droid parts everywhere and alerting the enemy of your presence, you start to fire grenade after grenade into the formations with your weapon. They scramble to decide where to shoot as they've been ordered to march and fire upon the town's hall, but something is taking them out in scores from behind. When you load the grenade launcher with its last grenade you spot three figures jumping from one building to the next atop the houses on the opposite side of the street; They seems to be fighting two versus one with blades swirling around with lightning speed. After you fire off the last grenade, you notice that one of the figures is Yna fighting against two individuals whom are both wearing a suit you'd recognize anywhere!

While you've softened up the droid forces marching on the town's hall, they are not close to losing yet. "Whatever you're doing, sir, better do it fast. CIS forces are bearing down on our positions from the north as well as the south now!", Joker informs you over the comm.

>Go help Yna
>Throw in your last couple of thermal and an Ion grenades and then rush into their flanks, vibro blades ready to cut them down to relieve pressure from the south on the town's hall.
>Move away from this position and try to flank the northern convoy to see if you can do something about that.
>Get yourself into the Town's hall and make up a plan quickly with your squad.
>Ask Mute over the comm for advice from the vantage point he's in up on a rooftop overlooking the Town's center.
>Write-in plan.

Holy shit. We're not a jedi. It is never advisable to close into melee when you have a fucking grenade launcher. Actual cover is more reliable than droid cover. Maybe if we were indoor, sneaking behind some fucks, I could understand, but otherwise it is madness.

Unless you post content like drawfaggotry or writefaggotry, or information linked to your very specific knowledge, your identity is irrelevant to your post, and the post will be judged on content alone instead of author reputation. Democracy and meritocracy at its finest. And it adds absolutely nothing of value to the post ; let your ego at the door.

You remember that you put Mute on top of a building as sniper support and your only eyes-in-the-sky in this whole mess before you took off north to gather the major's soldiers and attack the CIS forces by the chokepoints. You haven't heard from him throughout this entire fight, but you're sure that he's well busy sniping enemies marching on the town's hall and gave the information upon the incoming northern forces to Joker. You hail him over the comm.

"Mute, do you copy?" - you're met with silence. The jamming is gone, otherwise you'd only hear static, "Sixty, do you copy? Respond!", you raise your voice slightly, but there's still no answer from him. What happened to Mute?! The sound of a firefight and the view of Yna's fight with the two mysterious agents forces you to forget about Mute for now. You'd do anything to help your brother, but with the life of the Commander AND the Major on the line, you can't get sidetracked. "I'm sorry, Mute.", you whisper more to yourself than him before you throw out a thermal and an Ion grenade into the crowd of droids blocking your path to the house Yna is fighting on. The grenades explodes and the few droids left standing are cut down by your vibro blades when you pull through them. Oil, parts and electrical wires all go flying when you spin with your blades, slicing, thrusting, and hacking a path through them.

CONT.

"What the--", is the last thing a droid utters before its head comes flying off from your blade. With the droids that blocked the way taken care of, you rush into the house and up the nearest stairs. With no way up to the roof from the second floor, you climb out from the window and up to the roof by the wall. Once you've climbed up, you come face to face with a Jedi Padawan fighting off two armoured agents, all three equipped with blades of some sort. They haven't noticed you yet as all three are emerged in the fight.

>Rush in with your vibro blades and even the odds out!
>Throw in an Ion grenade to try and neutralize them, but you'll harm Yna in the process, but also the chance of ending this fight quickly.

EVA quest was nice, but there has been no news on it so Tangfag might have quit, which is a shame.

To be honest, we really need to get the symbol of Khorne on our commando armor.

To roleplay it when someone asks, just have chief say when things are looking their worst he sees that image somewhere out of the corner of his eye and things happen to fall into place.

Makes him seem kind of crazy/superstitious, but whatever. We need to honor the blood god with droid skulls.

The thought of throwing an Ion grenade into them occurred to you, but not only would it hurt Yna but you didn't know the capabilities of the suits these agents are wearing; Can they resist a direct Ion charge and remain mobile? If you had thrown a grenade, maybe you would have ended up fighting two agents or been pressured into giving up if they threatened to kill the stunned Yna? Many possibilities and the risks of your actions spurs you into pulling out your wrist-mounted vibro blades and charge straight into the fight after picking an agent to attack. You catch her off-guard when you launch yourself in, slashing with your vibro blade awefully close to her throat. She advances backwards, focusing entirely on you now as the both of you engage in a swordfight.

Her stance and fighting form is similar to the one you fought on Geonosis, but hers has another personal twist to it; She is more offensive while still adapting and analyzing your every move, striking at your opening and weaknesses whenever you present them while still being aggressive as hell. You don't find any time to stay passive or offensive against this opponent, so you've placed yourself in a defensive stance, parrying, dodging, evading, and countering as much as possible. Although you make ground against her whenever you counter, it's as if whenever you make her take a step back, she pushes you two steps backwards in return. This agent is quiet as well, while the other one you fought liked to taunt and mock you. This opponent seemed more disciplined and more respectful to her enemy.

"You must be the commando our sister spoke of.", she finally speaks up when the two of you back away from each other after a powerstruggle between the blades.

>"That'd be me, yes." - and continue the attack.
>"Who are you and why are you here?" - try to question her while dueling her.

Unless they are just from the same clan or equivalent. Maybe echani or mandalorian. We'll have to analize the blood sample on our blades to be sure. Or just remove their helmet if we kill them.

Instead of humouring her with any chit-chat, you go on the offensive the second she's done talking. She backs off, parrying and evading every swipe from your blades. You press her till she's about to reach the end of the rooftop. When she notices the predicament she's in, she quickly switch from defensive to offensive again and starts to push you back instead, but this time you have more room to be passive and start to analyze her movements and patterns. When you were defending against her and countering her, you never had the chance to notice all the openings she leaves for you when she attacks. She is constantly being offensive to get through you and kill you and her aggressive form hides her weaknesses and openings since her opponent has little time to analyze her when her blades are always upon them.

The last time she thrusts towards the commando before her, you evade the blade and push yourself past it to the side, launching a thrust of your own at her. She's caught off-guard and the fight ends with your blade sticking out through her throat and out the neck. You can hear her gagging from inside the helmet, possibly throwing up blood as well. The blue-green glowing eyes turn red from the interior as well. She is shaking while trying to grab the arm where your blade is connected, but she doesn't have the strength to do it, so instead she throws her blade aside and with the last ounce of strength she has left in her body, she clicks on something at the back of her neck. She does this faster than you can stop her and before she falls limp, the suit starts to emit a peeping sound.

CONT.
>>
>>37821870
"NO!", the other armoured agent screams right before she throws an Ion grenade onto the ground. When it explodes, both you and Yna falls to the ground, stunned and writhing in pain. The agent ignores you both as she jogs over to her dead sister's still warm body. "No.", she whispers when she falls to her knees before the body, hugging it desperately as if her touch will bring life back to her sister. There she sits for a good 20 seconds while both you and your Jedi companion twitches on the rooftop in stunned pain.

"I should kill you for that, clone.", she speaks up and rises, looking over at you, "but you're just like me; a soldier fighting in a war we both hate. In the end, we're the same as much as we're different. I will kill you when this war is over. I promise. For her.", and she motions over to her sister's body before she picks up the blade from her fallen comrade and leaps off the roof. The suit's peeping sound is becoming faster and louder by the time you get out of your stunned stasis.

You grab Yna and launch her at the town's hall like a javelin. Then slide off the vuilding using a destroyed SBD as a board while the agent's corpse explode behind you, covering the entire block in gory remains.

>>37822322
Then we rip and tear through the droid ranks so fast that they run away, thinking that a jedi had arrived to fuck them up.
>>
>>37821897
That peeping sound can only mean one thing; Something bad. You pull yourself up from the ground, rush over to Yna who is still out of it. You grab hold of her and launch yourself off the roof just in time to avoid the large explosion that erupts a second larger. The fire engulfs the entire house, blowing it into pieces. The shockwave sends the both of you flying into a building across the wide street. At the same time, it also destroyed a good chunk of the droids down below and blows another couple of them into nearby walls, destroying them that way as well. Those agents don't want their identity and suits to fall into the wrong hands, no matter the cost from the looks of it. You were blown straight into a wall with your back first, but you dampened the crash for Yna who's just wearing her light-brown tunic. The last thing you hear before darkness takes you is the screeching sound of ships flying in from above followed by explosions further north from here.

///

You wake up slightly to the sound of something tapping against glass. You have something covering your mouth and it feels like you're floating in thick water. The sensation soon forces you back into sleep.

///

When you finally wake up, you find yourself lying on a soft bed. You're wearing a casual set of cloths for soldiers and the room you're in is empty aside from the bed, a chair and yourself. On the chair you spot a plate of warm food and a glass of water. Probably put there in case you wake up. You have no idea where you are, where your armour and weapons are nor where your brothers or Yna are.

Well seeing as they put a lowly clone like us in the tanks, they would put the Commander in them too, there's no reason not to, and burned flesh heals fast in highly oxygenated environments like a bacta tank, which further speeds up the healing process.

The only reminders of this ordeal physically for her should just be some very light scarring and having to grow out the hair on her left side of her head.

Same, this quest took a turn for the dark and depressing very fast, not a turn I'm a fan of if its the new norm for how things will be, wasn't what I signed up for honestly.
>>
>>37822795
Sadly this is war, this is truth in narration, it's never for what you signed up but it's what is happenning when there's a war out there...
>>
>>37822722
I'm not sure bacta can heal scars and difformities when I look at Vader, but I'm finding contradictory statements on that, so....
>>
>>37822787
Did you mean for it to be this brutal? I mean damn the CIS attacked hard and very hard. I'm worried for the squad now.

I can't think of anyway this was supposed to go but clusterfuck. We just didn't have any real chance of stopping the advance.

Hope Sierra Squad was smart enough to evade capture and death.
>>
>>37822795
Feel free to leave then
>>
>>37822834
It does, Bacta can heal pretty much anything, and it can even regrow severed or destroyed limbs entirely.

>>37822830
That's not what I meant and you know it anon, don't pull the "this is war" bullshit argument.
>>
>>37822830
At least you're fighting droids and megacorporations (and freedom fighters from secessionist planets, oh well...). If it had taken place during the Empire, it would have been autoritarian governement vs terrorists vs crime syndicates, in a post war ravaged galaxy.
>>
>>37822830
No it isn't and no it isn't, Whiskey is playing one hell of a gamble with the turn of events last thread, and it hasn't paid off yet and I would hate to see this quest suffer because he chose to radically change the tone of the quest for drama's sake, that's killed many successful quests before and I don't know if Whiskey can pull it off with his limited experience, which is why I'm worried, I love this quest, been here since the start for every moment if I can make it, and I really don't want to see this quest go down that path because of one hell of a gamble with its tone to provoke a reaction needlessly.
>>
>>37822795
I will keep it light at many parts, but I won't shy away from showing grim parts about the clone wars. I don't like to glorify, lighten or joke about war.

I'm sorry if that doesn't sit right with you and if you feel like you don't want to continue to play because of it, I won't blame you.

That aside, I hope you stay even so and enjoy it for what it is though. I appreciate everyone's participation.

>>37822837
>Did you mean for it to be this brutal?

Yes and no. I meant for it to be somewhat brutal, but opportunities presented itself for me and you guys to create and play out events where characters of Sierra Squad and outside of that team can grow and develop from.
>>
>>37822548
>>Play as Chief from where he is now.
Call it weird but... I feel like if we start playing as different people we'll lose our rolls and some serious shit will happen....
>>
>>37822834
Vader is not a good example of what to look for in regards to Bacta and its usage and effects. Vader was a rush job to get him under the control of Sidious, the fact he wasn't healed properly was deliberate.
>>
>>37822916
>I will keep it light at many parts
But once you go dark, you can't go back, thats my worry Whiskey, that this event will taint things from here on out.
>>
>>37822916
>can grow
That's what Bacta is for.
>>
>>37822955
Dude he didn't unload a cyclonic torpedo on the planet. He let off a chemical weapon on civilians. Weird comparison but you're acting like he's gone so far dark we're stealing from niggers.

He could of made it alot worse.
>>
Gotta say that when I heard Atraken and Nick Rostu I knew shit was going to hit the fan in the quest for the bad way. Whiskey's just been keeping everything in-universe right now just look at this:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Battle_of_Atraken

I'll admit that this catching on Yna was a surprise though.
>>
>>37822955
Dude what are you talking about? Think of this is a development for Chief to fight harder to make sure this doesn't happen again. We aren't going to get edgy and broody. We'll just keep pushing forward. You worry too much.
>>
>>37822916
While it did just get a lot grimmer, I like your style Whiskey. Keep up the good quest
>>
>>37822916
Well I can certainly understand where that anon is coming from, its a very different atmosphere than previous threads, not entirely sure it will be good in the long run but its too early to tell. Though that could just be my personal experiences biasing me a bit, I happened to have a helo get shot out from under me in Afghanistan and got 40% third degree burns from the crash which was not fun at all, and these threads brought back some unpleasant memories.
>>
>>37822994

Don't think I don't know who you are

That's what happens when you wage a campaign to break the psyche of your opponent.

Though if the Separatists bothered to do any basic research on who they were fighting they would have known it wouldn't work before they tried it.

Not to mention people kind of frown on full blown slaughter house tactics like this. nobody'd want to help the CIS willingly if they're perfectly okay with a 90% civ death rate.
>>

The CIS simply doesn't give up easily, and depending on who's in charge of each invasion they just range from murderhobos with toxic clouds to hostage keeping assholes.

>Beside, the agents (and I hope the rest of the protagonists) aren't cartoon evil, feels good, I love gray and gray morality.

Yeah, I love antagonists that you can relate to.

I'd rather read about someone who does "evil" things for a just cause - a Means justify the ends kind of antagonist than someone who kills people and destroy worlds because they had a rough childhood or are just assholes.

There are reasonable evil antagonists you can relate to, and then there are grimderp characters out of Eisenhorn, you don't want to go full grimderp and Whiskey's been doing a good job so far.

No idea who that is, so unless I've got a split personality I don't know about, I'm not whoever that is.
