Disney Villains Victorious is a /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

It's limping on, somehow. Seems a lot of people lost interest at the ass end of last year. The bounce-back that was hoped for with the new year hasn't come, and it's already February. Yeah, you can chalk it up to classes starting up again, but this project's lost a lot of steam simply because a lot of the content creators sorta drifted off, both fluff and crunch.

So I see this going three ways: it continues limping on and dies off, there's a resurgence, or the entire thing goes into hibernation until someone brings the project back after rebuilding everything from the ground up.

That's an unfortunately good analysis there friend. I've been following the threads since the beginning, have contributed a number of fluff stories and have statted up a quite a few Kings, Villains and sample characters, but have experienced an incredible amount of creative burnout myself after the new year. I think that myself and god knows how many there are in the same boat, in that we'd like to contribute more but don't have it in us. Others, like you said, probably lost interest as the core game, DVV Classic was (mostly) completed.

I don't want to see the threads and more importantly the idea die, but without more radical input of creativity, writing and art and the like, we're just going to keep the threads limping along as we have been. I would like to say that I'll fix the creative energy to fuel a resurgence in the project, but in starting to feel like we ought to preserve what we've done so far and to into hibernation, remerging later with a new, Gridlock-specific opening post. In the meantime however, I'll keep the threads bumped and contribute as I can.
>>
>>37836524
The main crunch guy pretty much said the work he has done on classic has burned him out completely and he's not really interested in the modern/future expansion. Also most of the people coming here are mostly interested in idle speculation rather than fleshing out what we already have.

>>
>>37836524
It basically died when Nobody and Sverd both kinda vanished together, taking the vast majority of crunch and fluff with them respectively. Looking back at the threads, those two were almost single-handedly chalking up most of the project and keeping it on-track, accurate and alive respectively.
>>
>>37839493
They were both Names that were major contributors and personalities that all the Anons could rally around. They provided a lot of focus and drive and kept everyone on track.

There is a lot more fluff and a lot more stories left in DVV, and a lot more that I would like to tell, but I'm just so tired and creatively spent right now that bumping the threads is about all I'm good for Ruhr now.

SO, who is working on Leonidas and the Queen of Hearts?
>>
>>37843594
I said I was going to work on the Queen of Hearts, since nobody else seemed interested.

Just make Leonidas as crappy Scar. Yes, I know the difference, but nobody has seen the film or is willing to stat him. The more important question is who the hell is working on Captain Hook.
>>
>>37834678
You know, what's the mechanical difference between Classic and Grid locked? Maybe there should be some system of hacking and programming.

Also, I say we move onto gridlocked fully. Sure, the first setting is not 100% finished, But I believe if we relaunch ourselves into it, we might be able to drum up support

It's not that I've lost interest, but between classes and 40+ hours of work a week, I've got no time to help. Also, the fact that Gridlock has never really interested me, and that I haven't seen/don't have time to watch aren't helping either.

We should at least finish Classic and get a PDF out, then maybe ressurect the project later.
>>
>>37851174
All we're missing for the PDF is some adventure ideas, a bit of art, and an actual PDF-maker.

>>37839493

Pretty much this: >>37836694
I can't really promise that I'll be able to actually give Gridlocked the effort it needs, and I'm just... tired of arguments about game creation.
Running the playtest game takes more time and effort than I thought, too.

King: David Xanatos.
David Xanatos is the CEO of Xanatos Enterprises. Xanatos is most notable for being a master planner. He knows every variable and probability, an act which has only been helped by the massive surveillance of his territory. He watches everyone and knows about everyone in the city. He is also a very good fighter with knowledge of many martial arts. He also does not reject the use of magic and is immortal via it's use. He is a very smooth negotiator and can be very persuasive.
Land: Xanatos Enterprises.
Xanatos Enterprises is the company that currently dominates moat of New England. The locals are constantly watched and monitored by Xanatos to better aid in his plans and everything in the country is produced by his company. One other way that Xanatos Enterprises is different from many other factions is that it does not shy away from the use of magic. Many Xanatos products use magic. You can't go through a day without using a Xanatos product and almost all of said products have surveillance of some kind. Xanatos Enterprises is currently in association with Bill Syke's crime empire and both are expecting betrayal at some point. The Gargoyle Demora is still around and she does not entirely trust Xanatos nor does he trust her. They are also both expecting betrayal.
Rule: Just As Planned.
As mentioned, Xanatos thinks of everyone as pawns in his plan. The only people he truly sees as people are his wife and children. Everyone else s a tool for his advancement. He does not mind people who enter his country as long as they fallow the rules. However, if they show that the want to overthrow him, he will immediately make a plan to make sure he wins, regardless of what they do.

Prideful Queen: Every Social Strike against this character counts double. For every double Social Strike taken, obtain +3 to every combat and Intimidation rolls against the character/party that inflicted it
Think You Can Hide from Me?: +2 to Insight when attempting to detect people in Stealth.
Master of an Army: The Queen of Hearts can call in her Villains to aid her in a fight if they haven’t been defeated.
Don't You Disrespect Me, Little Man!: +3 to Intimidate if the character has taken a Social strike in this Situation.

Davy Jones and Hook are the main ones, we also have four minor pirate kings "ruling" over the other seas in defiance of Ursula and namely aligned with Hook. The others are sketchy but I recall them being a mad gipsy cat lady, a saracen corsair obsessed with bling and a fallen priest.

howsabout we make it a bit of both with some features of the original sub used by the expedition

that said can anyone think of a quest layout for Atlantis, Helping Moleirre find his youngest son ( think a human version of Feivel Mousekewitz [pic related]) who wandered off for example
>>
>>37880869
His son had commandeered a digging tank and accidentally uncovered an Atlantean rebel group that was planning a coup against Rourke. The party needs to reach the surface with the boy and the information needed to take this group to justice.

The catch is that the rebel group is made up of Atlantean refugees that were tired of being treated as second class citizens after escaping the hells they came from. This group wasn't planning anything evil per say, but any sort of treason against the Imperial President is not to be tolerated.
>>
>>37880996
so you've got two options as a party: hand them over to Judicial enforcer Ak'edd, which will increase your diplomacy benefits when dealing with Rourke or you can let them be which will decrease your chance of good relations with Rourke but keep the People happy, Mole is just happy you found his son (It could have been worse, the Coachman could have spirited his son away)

At some point Ursula is Going to send Yamato up along the top of Russia under the Arctic ice shelf to attack Atlantis, your gonna need to pull some strings there which will depend on how well you are liked by both the people and Rourke

The crocodile isn't dead. Hook is just paranoid because even though his ship doesn't touch the water anymore, he just KNOWS that monster is still following him. The croc would cross rivers and oceans to finish it's meal.

Maybe Ursula uses it to spy on the old codfish.

bump with spirit ideas for Hunnic china

there are 60 of the most powerful spirits in the Land (5 iterations of each animal [Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog
Pig], 12 iterations of each element [fire, water, earth, metal, wood]) I'd suggest that we base the people who embody these spirits on the four trines [Rat/Dragon/Monkey, Ox/Snake/Rooster,Tiger/Horse/Dog, Rabbit/Goat/Pig] with each group of three embodying one of the four temperaments-ish [choleric, melancholic, sanguine and phlegmatic respectively]

I've thought about the backstory for the Weasels and come up with a general idea of how they acquired each of their skills and who from;

>The Fae Lands: were uplifted to humanoid form by a Fae lord of the Autumn Court for his amusement (think younger Radagast the Brown, for an idea of the Lords appearance), gained the ability to blend into the shadows of twilight and move with the grace of a cat.
>The Mirror Kingdom: were drafted into the Mirrorguard Auxillia on pain of Nails, gained the ability to swap places with their reflections and move through mirrors
>the Archdioceses: learned from the people leading the gypsy rebellions how to hide and appear to be gargoyles

they currently take up residence in the Pleasure Island hall of mirrors, which due to the Fae influences on them has started to look like an autumnal forest

Pinned Ya Again: Spend a Will Point and the character may choose to roll their Brawl vs. an enemy's Robustness/Agility to pin that enemy to the ground at risk of opening up another attack on the character upon failure. Pinned enemies cannot attack until unpinned and must make a Robustness check against a character's Brawl roll to become unpinned every round until defeated or successful escape.
Prideful King
Every Social Strike against this character counts double. For every double Social Strike taken, obtain +3 to every combat and Intimidation rolls against the character/party that inflicted it.

---Powers---
STOP: +5 to resist transformative magic (as he is already under the effect of another spell) unless it is to turn him into a rabbit.
THAT: Spend a Will Point to gain +5 to an Intimidate roll, and it affects everyone within fifty meters instead of one target.
BAAAAAAALLLLL!: When rolling for soccer-related checks, roll twice and keep the better result.

---Equipment---
Soccer Ball and Uniform: Of course.
The Star of Astoroth: +8 to Occult and grants the ability to animate inanimate objects, but only for those who already have some sort of spellcasting ability.

You know, could one theoretically help King John back to the throne? Perhaps in a bleaker world, where Arthur is dead, the only way to combat the Horned Kings influence is with another king of england, via the KLR. Since he is technically a king, the land around him returns to a somewhat normal state, removing the fog and making undead take longer to Return, but have it disappear when the HK exerts his personal presence nearby.

Along the way, you could possibly help reform king John as you make your way, and have him actually sign the Magna Carta of his own free will.

Punch
Robustness: 18/14

Terror

Grid

Hack

Robustness: 5/14

the only things I'm having trouble with are the abilities, traits and powers
>>
>>37903326
You do know that 7 in an Attribute is human standard, right? Those stats could use some reorganizing so that they at least have Attributes along those lines.
>>
>>37903326
Now that I think about it I have the Perfect power for Punch:
>Right Back At Ya(!): buy burning a will point and destroying a mook level enemy punch may make a Robustness+Ranged attack against a player of his choice
>>
>>37903463
You do realize these are the Cybrid forms taken by the villains, right? their traits are more balanced when they are disguised (but Punch is still Einstein compared to drachenbug)
>>
>>37903593
Yes, but wouldn't they become stronger when they transform instead of weaker? A 3 in anything is considered pitiful.
>>
>>37903734
Hackbug Roots himself into the games code and takes control of any available characters, this makes him part of the scenery and very hard to get rid of, but I see what you mean about Grid and Terror

Terror

Robustness: 6/14
Agility: 17/14
Intelligence: 12/14
Sensibility: 7/14
Charm: 18/14

Grid

Robustness: 7/14
Agility: 12/14
Intelligence: 17/14
Sensibility: 18/14
Charm: 5/14

I've modified their stats a bit, but I'm keeping Punches Intelligence and Sensibility low for two reasons;
1. He ate Kirby, son he basically has the mind of a small child under all that muscle
2. the Yellow Devil wasn't a tactical genius to begin with

that said;

Punch
Robustness: 18/14
Agility: 17/14
Intelligence: 5/14
Sensibility: 3/14
Charm: 6/14

there he's not very charming when he's trying to chew your face off
>>
>>37903901
I counted all of their attributes. Let's just say 60 is the target number.

Terror Bug Total: 60
This works.

Grid Bug Total: 59
You can add another point to him, preferably to Charm.

Punch Bug Total: 49
I would add those to Sensitivity. It refers to being able to respond to outside stimulus, after all. Like a sense of taste.

Hack Bug Total: 55
More Agility. Hacking requires dexterous movement to not get caught, after all.

Drachen Bug Total: 55 (Found last thread)
Not sure. Also, I Bring the Thunda might be too much. 2d6 attacks of opportunity sounds excessive.

After this, I can start pitching powers and traits.
>>
>>37904221
Hack

Robustness: 5/14
Agility: 8/14
Intelligence: 17/14
Sensibility: 18/14
Charm: 12/14

Grid

Robustness: 7/14
Agility: 12/14
Intelligence: 17/14
Sensibility: 18/14
Charm: 6/14

Punch

Robustness: 18/14

have you got anything I can use for Hack?
>>
>>37905287
What exactly does he do? A description or backstory would be useful.
>>
>>37905333
The basic premise is that he breaks into a game and forces it to play the way King Turbug wants it to, no /\ /\ \/ \/ <> <> A B Start for this guy, he just forces entry to the code room and makes 'changes', he can also infect Characters from the game and track/control them remotely
>>
>>37905501
Wouldn't he have the same role as an infiltrator like Grid Bug? I know they have slightly different goals (one subverts games, one subverts the internet) but the goals are similar. Looking at their stats, Hack Bug would probably be better at Grid Bug's job because of his high Charm score.

Idea: Switch around their sheets, making Grid Charming and Hack Agile. Hack Bug's gimmick is that he sneaks around games and manipulates the area around him to become more hazardous for players. Also, Hack Bug should hand out status defects like candy. Everyone loves status defects.

>>
>>37905834
Grid Bug would have to be Charming for his social skills.
Not sure what Hack Bug would be, but probably Sensitive/Agile. Maybe he would have a Power to hack digital worlds with Insight to detect weaknesses in code or something.

As a justification to explain why these Villains aren't mindless Cybugs, say that King Candy had them made them as Bosses so that they would be great at their jobs separate from the hive. The drawback is that they cannot randomly absorb traits from other characters and spread them around willy nilly like normal Cybugs.
>>
>>37905981
this kind of falls down when you take into account the fact that Drachenbugs brain would, in the words of Hack "Make a PicoBit look ungainly by comparison"
>>
>>37906051
The idea is that you don't want them to be normal Cybugs, or else their boss traits would be passed down to Cybug Mooks. You don't want an army of Drachenbugs, do you?

Alternately, they can copy traits (as seen in Gridbug's disguises), but they cannot spread them to the horde. Drachenbug can still consume creatures to recover Strikes (why isnt that on his sheet?) but they will not have their traits absorbed into him. Even if a fix all solution can't be found, it's better to have a balanced villain than an OP one.

Robustness: 17/16
Agility: 18/14

Bull Charge: +2 to Brawl when charging into combat.
Natural Weapons: Spikes and Sharp Teeth provide a +2 to Brawl when used.
Bonecruncher: Ignores Armor on Brawl rolls.
CHOO CHOO: Double maximum land speed.

---Powers---
Devourer: By spending a Will point, this character may eat any defeated animal of Medium size or higher and regain strikes equal to that animal’s Robustness divided by 3 (rounded up).
Bring the Thunder: Spend one Will point. Drachenbug lights up, charging up with electrical energy. It’s next target is treated as having -3 Prevent Harm while defending and will be Stunned afterwards.

Rundown: The end result of a specialized Cybug being left in a Train Simulator for 24 hours. It will eat anything and everything to regain the calories it loses while moving. They say it’s roar is similar to the tooting of a horn.

Wow, the thread is still going. Props to everyone who's sticking around.

If I could put in my two cents about the continuation of the threads, I think we've had a good run. I intended to write more DTP, but I'm kinda burned out right now.

I don't think we should feel bad about the thread winding down. We've finished the core setting save for the pdf. Just look back at all the work we've done. It's been a fucking fantastic run with you all. We've got a fully functional game up from nothing, which is more than most of /tg/ can say.
