Hello everyone, another update for the system. I will be including re-rolls. However, these will not be given out freely, the will be earned by accomplishing major things, a big battle won, a major personal goal reached, helping a person with something important to them. In my usual fit of generosity, I am giving you one to start with. One. No more. So you should probably save it for something serious, like almost dying, because you aren’t likely to get another one soon. Still up for possible changes depending on how the dice behave, but this is likely it. Other than that, let’s have some fun tonight.

>Fate Point:1
>Money: $10
>Equipment: Tier 1 Assault Rifle. Tier 1 Armor (+2 wounds). Tier 1 Pistol. Standard Ammo (3). Tier 1 Knife. Tier 1 Bandolier. (Carry Capacity, 1 Ammo, 1 Misc) Clothes (3). Blanket (2).

Your name is William. You’ve recently earned the nickname of Billy, but your name has been William for as long as you can remember, so that’s what you’ll call yourself for the time being. The past month has seen more significant change in your life than the past five years combined, what with being rescued from The Compound, being shown some of the outside world and then moved to Fort Riley, which you still aren’t really sure is a fort or not because it doesn’t have walls. You’ve also been given a job at Morrigan Military Solutions, better known as MMS. Four other people work there, all women, meaning you’ve seen more women in the past day or so than you had for most of the time you’d been in The Compound. Already having completed a mission, you were then shown around the MMS building and Fort Riley by Cath, one of the women of MMS, who was strangely comfortable to be around, mostly because she didn’t talk. After heading to Doc’s Place, you prevented your boss Morrigan from getting into a fist fight, had a strange conversation with the lady Morrigan wanted to punch in the face and cleared up a very important question, why would anyone want to sleep with an icicle? Apparently the answer is what you thought, you shouldn’t, because icicle’s are really cold.

Currently, you aren’t thinking about any of that though, because you are asleep. Normally you don’t dream, hard floors and cold temperatures prevented that for most of your time in The Compound. You have blankets now though, good ones that are soft and warm. That apparently means you dream easier. What do you dream about?

>The crash, twisted metal and screams.
>Your first battle, blood, bullets, guts and chaos everywhere.
>Yesterday’s mission, the soft gurgle of a cut throat, the pattern of blood from a good shot.
>You don’t. You don’t dream. Dreams hurt and you don’t want to hurt anymore.

Form the prologue/character creation

Thinking of that reminds you what happened to your parents. It was four weeks ago, at the same time as the bright light in the sky. You were driving to your grandparent’s house; mom and dad said something about them being more self-sufficient. You’d just taken it as another trip until the light happened. When the light happened, the car stopped working. Dad yelled, Mom screamed. There was a screech and then a crash. When you woke up, both of them were dead and the strange men were pulling you out of the car.

I started a thread ago and I'm horrible about doing archive binges. Last time I lost a week reading banished quest's insane antics.

I learned my lesson about looking too long into suptg after that. Sure it'd start with reading up on this one but then theres all these other ones getting tons of votes and I wanna know why- oh hey its fucking 4 am again and I have to work without sleep. Fuck.

I know that feel anon, I binged all of Merc Commander's stuff, Harem Protag Quest, Hollow Quest Redux, and Homeless Mutant Quest.

I think I lost a month's worth of sleep to the archives possibly more.

Of all the things you can remember, what little you can remember of before, you remember the crash best. You don’t remember the details of course, but you have impressions. Your biggest one, somehow, is of your mother. At least you think it was your mother, you can’t remember her face. You do remember long flowing hair, the soft smell of…something else you couldn’t name but remember well and a gentle hand touching your face. You dad is much the same, no face, just an impression of a large, strong man and a deep rumble where there should be a voice.

The crash itself isn’t much better. You remember looking out the window as you drove, whatever you had been doing not keeping your attention at that moment. Despite it being almost noon, there was a bright flash in the sky, nearly directly above you. You were on the highway, you remember that at least, but that just meant that there were more cars to hit as you heard your dad yell, your car apparently completely out of control. You didn’t have enough time to panic, even as your mom screamed, your car getting hit then doing a roll. You remember bouncing around a lot, a few more impacts until you don’t remember anything more, just blackness.

The next thing you do remember is the sound of voices moving about, voices and what you now recognize as the occasional gunshot, though you just thought they were loud pops back then. You remember screaming, screaming yourself hoarse so they would come and get you. You remember them pulling you out, trying to calm you down even as you remembered to scream for your mom and dad.

You don’t remember what your mom and dad looked like.
>>
>>37863293
Even as the dream runs through your mind, you hear something else, the sound of a door opening and a boot taking a step on a wood floor nearby, instantly catapulting you awake, even if you don’t quite remember where you are. The boot takes another step closer.

You instinctively….

You flinch. Boots mean that somebody has found your sleeping place, that they want you for something. That usually means a kick in the side to wake you, even though you usually woke up at the sound of the boots coming towards you in the first place. But even the light kicks usually hurt, so you instinctively curl up a little bit, to protect yourself from the impact of what usually turned out to be a combat boot.

You don’t feel the boot come down though, don’t feel the sharp pain in your side that should come with being woken up. If you got woken up it meant that you didn’t wake up early enough and that you were in trouble, at least usually. You don’t tremble though, trembling showed them you were scared.

Finally you hear another step and then a light hand on your side. The hand shakes you, gently. You finally open your eyes, still slightly afraid of what’s coming, at least until you remember that you aren’t at The Compound anymore because you have blankets. Your blankets, the ones you got to buy with your money.

Opening your eyes reveals Cath kneeling next to you, her hand on your side remarkably light for home much strength she seems to have. Blinking your eyes at the light in the room, you think you see a hint of worry on Cath’s face before she notices you’ve woken up. When she does, she withdraws her hand, though she doesn’t stand up until you sit upright. As the rest of your senses awaken, you begin to smell something from downstairs, just in time to hear Cath speak for the first time.

“Food,” she says. It’s just one word, a soft one from a voice that doesn’t get used very often, but it’s definitely a word.

You look up at her and almost blink in surprise, though her word did clear up what you were smelling.

You confirm to yourself that yes, you hear Cath say a word before you formulate your own response.

“Thank you,” you say to your normally silent companion.

Cath tilts her head at you slightly in acknowledgement before she moves outside of your room, waiting against the wall for you to get ready.

It doesn’t take you long, you simply slide on your next set of clothes, one more or less the same as another to you plus or minus a pocket or two. You also slide your pistol and knife belt on, everyone seems to go armed around Fort Riley except for one or two that you remember.

As you step out of your room Cath turns down the hallway and you follow, watching the motion of her shoulder blades in front of you. Down the steps brings more interesting smells as Cath leads you into the final door downstairs that you haven’t been through, the others leading to the armory and the place where you and Cath lifted weights respectively.
>>
>>37864447
Entering the room reveals Morrigan and Nem already seated at a decently large table, Mary standing in front of a stove as something sizzles in a pan. Cath immediately moves to sit down at the table next to Nem while you slide into the seat between Cath and Morrigan.

“Look who decided to join us,” you hear Mary’s voice say as she walks over, a large pan of what looks like yellow fluff being set down next to another pan of brownish-grey things that look kinda funny but smell really good. Nem and Morrigan immediately reach out to grab some of each with their forks, depositing them on their plates even before Mary comes back with some bread.

“Help yourself,” says Mary, her voice much more cheerful than you’re used to anyone’s being, “As you can see by these two we don’t stand on ceremony here.”

“Hey,” says Morrigan as she puts one of the good smelling things in her mouth, “When you find a job that pays me for good table manners, let me know. Till then I’ll eat how I like.”

Mary’s face just tightens into a tighter smile, Cath now having grabbed a share of the food as well, along with some bread.

Looking at the pile you decide to…

You look at the yellow fluffy things and the brownish grey things once more, before looking back up at everyone else, Nem and Morrigan enthusiastically stuffing their faces while Cath eats at a more measured pace. Mary’s continuously smiling face looks down at you once more before you decide to take her for her word.

Scooping up a decent bit of the yellow fluffy stuff and a number of the brown and grey things, but not any more than anybody else took, you place them on your plate along with some bread. Mary places a glass of…milk, next to you as well. Nodding your thanks, you poke the yellow stuff with your fork a few times, causing it to jiggle a little bit before you finally scoop it up. Sniffing it reveals not a whole lot more, it doesn’t smell like much. Finally you take your fork and place it in your mouth.

An amazing sensation spreads though your mouth, something you can’t even truly describe. You’re used to gruel and bread for the most part, though occasionally you got a little bit of jerky when the other men were feeling generous. When the military rescued you from The Compound, you got to eat a little more and some different stuff, but you don’t remember anything quite as good as this! You quickly scoop a couple more forkfuls into your mouth, your eyes widening from the taste.

“It’s good isn’t it,” you hear Nem say, which causes you to glance up at her, “Mary’s the best cook in town.”

“No I’m not,” you hear Mary say, even as she grabs some of the food for herself, “Doc’s better than I am.”

“Not for breakfast,” says Morrigan, spearing a couple more of the grey things for herself, “Doc does a mean lunch or dinner but he can’t do eggs like you.” She sticks one of them in her mouth and grins, “Or sausage.”
>>
>>37865455
Sausage and eggs…eggs are probably the yellow things if you followed Morrigan’s words correctly. You think you remember them. That means sausage is the grey things.

You spear one and sniff it, still a little suspicious because of its color, but everyone else seems to enjoy them so you decide to give them a try. Another amazing sensation meets your tongue as you bite down, juice squirting into your mouth as you chew.

When your eyes open from your bite, you see Morrigan, Nem and Mary looking at you, Cath still eating.

“It’s like you’ve never had sausage before,” says Nem, sounding surprised.

“…I don’t remember,” you admit, before you dive back into your food.

“You don’t remember if you’ve had sausage or not?” says Nem, “Wow, where’d they…”

You see Morrigan’s arm move slightly, then Nem lets out an oof.

“Just eat what you want dear,” says Mary, her face looking different for some reason, “We have plenty.”

You nod, finishing what’s on your plate, including the milk, all down to the last crumb.
>>
>>37865484
Cath finished slightly before you, Morrigan and Nem having taken more and just now finishing up.

“What do I do today?” you ask as you look around at the group, expecting them to tell you something that needs fixed.

“Whatever you want,” says Morrigan as she drops her fork, “No jobs lined up, nothing big going on around town. Find something to do, take a nap, whatever.”

Nem nods, talking around a last mouthful of sausage, “I’m gonna check the market for stuff to do.”

Mary gives Nem a sharp look.

“Not like that…” says Nem slightly unconvincingly, “Just you know, people watch.”

“If you cause trouble again you’ll answer to me,” says Mary, waving a ladle at Nem.

“I’ll be good, I’ll be good,” says Nem as she scampers away from the table, “See you later!”

Cath also stands up from the table, Morrigan following as Mary starts to gather the dishes up, some food still left.

The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn

We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death

The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles

It went like this

The buildings tumbled in on themselves
Mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble and pulled out their hair

The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze

I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful..
These are truly the last days"

You grabbed my hand and we fell into it
Like a daydream or a fever

We woke up one morning and fell a little further down
For sure it's the valley of death

I open up my wallet
And it's full of blood

You sit a little confused as Mary gathers the dishes. There was always something for you to fix at The Compound, always something to do.

“Is there nothing to fix?” you ask Mary, wondering how such a thing could be.

“Not that I know of sweetie,” says Mary, “We don’t really have that much stuff to fix in the first place and I’m sure you and Cath did a good job on the guns and armor yesterday right?”

You nod to her.

“Then I’m pretty sure there’s nothing for you to fix, the buildings fine and the equipment is as good as it can be.”

You look at Mary as she runs some water into a basin.

“Is there anything else to do?” you ask her.

“You could come help me with the dishes,” she says, holding up a plate, “You can dry.”

You nod, moving to stand next to Mary as she hands you a towel and a plate. You examine the plate, then dry it off with the towel. Mary hands you the next and you follow, continuing to dry off everything that she hands you. Eventually you finish and Mary puts everything away, you watch to make sure you can help next time.

When Mary finally takes her apron off and turns back to you, she gives you a grin.

“So what are you going to do now?” she asks.

“I…don’t know,” you say, just a little lost.

“Well, do you want to read with me?” asks Mary.

“Ok,” you say, nodding to Mary.

“Really?” says Mary, smiling at you, “Great, come on. I have so many books and none of the others really seem to ever want to read.”

You follow Mary as she heads out the door, then turns to head up the stairs to her room. Cath and Morrigan are upstairs in the big room, Cath doing some pushups while Morrigan is slouched in one of the big chairs.

“What’re you up to?” asks Morrigan as you reach the top of the stairs.

“Will’s going to read with me,” says Mary, giving her a smile.

Morrigan cocks an eyebrow at you before closing her eye once more. “Whatever,” she says, “Don’t fill his head with all that fantasy crap you read or those trashy romances.”

Mary “humphs” as you walk down the opposite hallway from your room, apparently where she has her room.

Opening the door reveals…hundreds of books of all sizes shapes and colors. There’s barely any room for her to walk except for a small space in front of the dresser and the bed being clear.

“Is there anything you’d like to read?” she asks you, bending down to dig through a stack.

“Something…useful?” you ask Mary. You aren’t so sure what “Fantasy” or “Trashy Romance” books are, but Morrigan said you should avoid them for now. You don’t really know what else you could be reading, so you really hope that Mary has some ideas.

“Something useful…Hmm,” says Mary as she goes through her piles of books, “I’m not sure what you would find useful but…”

Mary rummages around for a minute, until she pops out with a big book with red lettering on the front of it.

“It’s a little bit of a boring read,” she says, handing the book to you, “But it’s definitely useful.”

“Useful is good,” you say, examining it. Luckily your reading isn’t that bad, you can read “The American Red Cross First Aid & Safety Handbook,” on the front of it.

“What’s it about?” you ask, looking at its thickness.

“Helping people,” says Mary, grabbing a stack of books for herself, then dropping another book on top of yours. This one reads “Webster’s Dictionary.”

“With what?” you ask, following Mary back through the room, where Morrigan is apparently asleep and Cath is now doing sit-ups.

“With themselves,” says Mary as you reach the bottom of the steps, “That book has lots of ways for you to help people who get hurt.”

Help people? That’s got to be useful.

“Like when they get shot?” you ask her.

“Well,” says Mary, taking a seat behind her desk once more, “I don’t think it’s quite that good, but it’s a step in the right direction. If you can remember that book, you might be ready for something more like that.”

Right, they didn’t let you handle the guns the first day. Start with the hammer and the nails. Taking a seat against Mary’s desk, you look at the other book.

“What’s this one for?” you ask, touching it.

“That’s a book that can tell you what words mean,” says Mary, smiling softly down at you, “I thought you might need it for some of the words in the other one.”

“…Thanks,” you say, realizing that the other book might be even more helpful.

“Any time Will,” she says, “reading is important, you should read as much as you can. If you need any help with something, just ask me.”

You nod, then begin reading the first book. While it is a little hard for you to follow some of the terms and sometimes you don’t quite get what something is, for the most part the book is very helpful. Several hours pass as you sit on the floor, reading the book. As you get towards the end, you find a place that you just don’t get.

“Mary…?” you ask quietly.

“Yes Will?” she asks you immediately.

“I don’t understand this…” you say, looking up at her from the ground.

“Where?” she asks again, leaning down and brushing her hair over her ear.

“Right here,” you say, pointing to the spot.

“Hmm,” says Mary, something soft pressing against your back as she reads over your shoulder.

While something is pressing against you, it’s soft so it’s not like it hurts. You just wait for Mary to finish looking at the sentence. When Mary leans back up the softness leaves your back, that part of you slightly cold for a few seconds afterwards.

“A compound fracture is when you break a bone,” says Mary, her voice very serious for once, “and the bone breaks through the skin. That’s very bad and harder to treat correctly.”

You nod, managing to finally understand the sentence and the surrounding words thanks to Mary’s explanation.

Just as you’re about to get back into your book, the front door bursts open, a woman nearly collapsing as she barely manages to get inside, blood on her clothes.

“Help…” she says, finally collapsing on the floor as you freeze in place.

Mary is up and moving even before the woman collapses.

“MORRIGAN!” she yells, thumps sounding nearly immediately as she begins to look the woman over. Even as you finally begin to gather your wits, Morrigan and Cath are already downstairs.

“What the…” says Morrigan, moving to help Mary.

“Roseman…Ranch,” you hear the woman cough out, “Bandits…help…”

“Shh, shh,” says Mary as she rips strips of cloth from her clothes, “Calm down, you’ve come to the right place.”

“Help…family…” coughs the woman, before she suddenly lets out a sigh and stops moving.

Mary stops almost immediately, blood on her hands.

“Shit…” you hear her say under her breath.

Morrigan looks up at Cath and nods towards the back. “Gear up,” she says, “I know how you are.”

“Will,” she says, turning towards you, “Me and Cath are going to Roseman. Might not make any money on the job, might even lose some. You wanna come?”

You don’t say anything to Morrigan, just nod and dash back into the armory room, opening the locker that is yours and grabbing everything inside, managing to put on the armor yourself in time to see all three of the others already geared up and ready to go. You aren’t sure how Nem got here so fast, but judging by the smile on her face it was because she wanted to have some fun.

“Let’s go,” says Morrigan, already heading out the door, “We might be able to make it to Roseman before those fuckers get away.”

Nem and Cath nod, so you do the same as Morrigan heads straight out of town, a different course than the one you took last time. The pace she sets is brutal, for the most part you’re barely able to keep up, only a fear of failing and getting beaten keeping you on your feet. Just as you feel like you’re about to give out from exhaustion Morrigan drops to the ground, a building coming into view on the horizon.

You also drop to the ground, more from how tired you are than anything, as the other two follow suit. As you lay there breathing heavily, it takes you a minute to notice that Cath isn’t carrying a rifle. She’s carrying a machine gun, if a small one.

“Shit…” says Morrigan, looking over the farm, “I see…at least half a dozen of them. There’s probably a few more in the buildings.”

Cath nods her head in agreement, flashing her hand out three times with all of her fingers spread, indicating fifteen.

Morrigan shakes her head. “I doubt there’s more than twelve.”

“They don’t look like they’re in a hurry,” says Nem, “They might be staying the night, we could wait till then and surprise them.”

“Yeah,” says Morrigan, “And meanwhile anyone else up there is getting who knows what done to them.”

Cath’s face is still mostly impassive, but you see her hand tighten around her grip.

As you sit and listen to Morrigan and Nem talk about whether or not you should go now, you remember the woman. Mary said there were ways for you to help people, make them better. You weren’t able to help her. But she mentioned that her family was still around to help. Maybe if you go now, you can help them. That’s what you know, that’s all you know. Be useful, help people.

“We should go,” you say, drawing the attention of the three women.

“You think we should go Billy?” asks Morrigan, a look you don’t quite understand on her face.

“I…I can help,” you say, “I can take out the targets.” You aren’t sure if you’re making sense even to yourself, but you’re pretty sure you should go help right now.

Morrigan’s mouth quirks upwards a little.

“Take out the targets, right,” she says, turning back towards the farm, “They don’t look like they’re paying much attention anyway, now’s probably as good a time as ever. Let’s go folks.”

You nod, Nem sighs. You look over to Cath in time to see her place a hand on your shoulder and nod. The look on her face…is different than normal. Pleased? Happy? It doesn’t last very long, Morrigan already headed towards the farm.

You manage to make it closer to the farm, within rifle range, without being seen. You’re still out of range for Nem’s shotgun. You can see four bandits right now, meaning there are three of you for four targets.

Morrigan looks at you, then Cath.

“I can get one, maybe two,” she says, not looking down from her rifle, “Cath can get one. Can you get a hit Billy?”

I swear they are performing ritual sacrifices in that thread on a regular basis or something. I saw one thread with not one, not two, but three 100s in a row. That just doesn't happen.

You nod to Morrigan, “Targets die,” you say.

Morrigan just nods her head. “Alright, I’ve got the one on the left, Cath, the right, Billy, the one next to Caths. We’ll both take a shot at the last one, whoever gets there first, alright?”

You just nod, focusing your sights on the target Morrigan gave you.

“Nem, you count,” says Morrigan.

“On three,” says Nem, serious now, “One, two, three.”

At three your finger pulls the trigger, your rifle kicks on your shoulder and your target drops, dead instantly from three rounds in his head. You aren’t looking though, your rifle already moving to the last standing target, who is looking confusedly at where his friend was a second ago. You don’t give him a chance to figure out what’s wrong, your rifle barking once more, dropping him from a nicely grouped burst to the chest.

As you watch him drop, your mind takes control again, searching for more targets, but Cath and Morrigan’s are down as well.

“Nice shooting Billy,” says Morrigan, already standing, “Let’s see if we can surprise more of the bastards.”

You follow Morrigan, towards the farm and it’s outbuildings, Nem beside her and Cath taking up the rear. Morrigan stops you all next to a wagon, which provides a limited amount of cover and concealment in case someone sees you.

“House or outbuildings?” asks Morrigan to nobody in particular.

“We should check both,” says Nem.

“Splitting forces Nem,” says Morrigan.

You remember one of the times you went out from The Compound. While most of the mission went normally, the main force didn’t check the outbuildings, which meant that the three men holed up inside of one of them were able to take several with them in a surprise attack when they went for the goods in the middle first.

“Outbuildings,” you say, still hushed.

“Yeah,” says Nem, agreeing with you, “Don’t need anyone sneaking up on us while we clear the house.”

“Right,” says Morrigan, turning herself towards the outbuildings, “Let’s go then, Cath, cover the house.”

Cath nods, turning to face the house with her LMG as you all move towards the outbuildings.

The first couple are clear, but then you hear a scream from the barn. Making a dash for it, Cath still covering you, you find the barn door open, screams still coming from the barn as you see four men pulling a girl down from an upper story, dropping her on the floor and laughing as she cries out in terror. One man begins to mess with his trousers, none of them paying enough attention to see you.

The men don’t even see you coming, apparently not having heard the earlier shots. You drop one of the men with a perfect headshot, Cath does the same. Nem leaves her target dead with a large hole through his sternum.

Morrigan however, takes the guy with his hands around his waist. Sprinting forward even as the three of you are taking your shots, she literally slides around the man’s legs, knife in hand and buries it into his crotch. There’s a high pitched keening noise coming from the man’s mouth as Morrigan puts the barrel of her gun underneath his chin.

“There’s a special place in hell for men like you,” she says, her voice colder than any night you’ve ever met, “Tell the others I said not to forget me.”

Then she pulls the trigger, the man’s head erupting in a spray of blood, bone and viscera before he has a chance to say anything.

It’s all over in just a few seconds, the girl’s screams still echoing in the room even as the last of the blood spatter settles, every drop missing the girl.

Even as Morrigan withdraws her knife from the dead man’s crotch, the girl is scrambling upright.

“You, you’re, you have to save my dad!” she says, grabbing Morrigan by her armor, “Please, please, he’s inside and they were hurting him because he wouldn’t tell them where I hid. Please, you have to help him.”

“Alright, calm down girl,” says Morrigan, grabbing the girls arm and pulling it off of her, “I need to know how many are inside.”

“I…I don’t know,” says the girl, “Maybe four or five?”

“Close enough,” says Morrigan, wiping her knife off on the dead man, “Let’s go guys. You stay here,” she points to the girl, who nods and clutches herself in tears.

“Please,” she says, “You gotta help him.”

Couple things wrong with the combat.

First of all is every team should know their own endurance; there is no point getting to the objective already tired like William is doing just so you can get shot down the first minute in combat because you can't run from cover to cover or shoot properly from wheezing for breath.

Second of all burst/auto fire when not in room to room combat >50m is generally not advised; think of how much ammo you carry. 180 rounds and you want to use them up in 60 shots? The second and third rounds will just go wild unless you're within point blank range, and by that I mean the actual definition not a "contact shot" which didn't seem to be the case as you weren't within shotgun range which would be around 50-100 meters or so away. Burst fire for AR-15 style rifles are especially shit because you have to hold down the trigger to shoot all 3 rounds but it doesn't reset the burst after lifting so if you burst 2 rounds the next trigger pull will only shoot once.

Third of all gunfire is LOUD. So loud that firing a full magazine of 7.62x51 with no hearing protection will permanently damage your ears. Even with a suppressor you would have to be severely deafened to not hear someone fire a gun within a hundred meters.

“Quick,” Morrigan finally says, as you remain silent like Cath, “Go in quick, they haven’t sent anyone out so they’re either waiting for us or aren’t ready, hopefully surprise either way.”

“Alright,” says Nem, “On your go.”

Morrigan nods, her hand on the door, Nem at the ready.

“Go!” says Morrigan, Nem bursting through the door, her shotgun searching for a target even as she moves through. Morrigan follows her, her gun sweeping opposite directions. This is all new to you, so you do your best, but you miss when a man suddenly comes around a the corner, only to meet Nem’s shotgun to his face. Morrigan drops another as Nem moves through the kitchen, then all of you head up the stairs. Nem and Morrigan check rooms as you go by, but not thoroughly, moving towards the door at the end of the hallway.

This means that when Cath suddenly turns and fires a burst from her LMG through the wall, you’re all surprised, at least until you hear a thump and a man’s hand holding a rifle appears from behind a bookcase. You only take a second to check, then Nem and Morrigan bust through the door at the end of the hallway, a man in rough but sturdy looking clothes tied to a chair while a scared looking man holds a knife to his throat.

“D-don’t come any closer or I’ll cut him I swear!” he screams, hand trembling while the beat up looking farmer grimaces.

Rambo as deaf fella with hardcore tinnitus(oh god I cant remember how to spell it) would have made a much less griping movie. Of course it always helps to strive for accuracy and immersion. While you probably meant your comment to be construct criticism it seemed to lack a bit of the former.

Its a bunch of bandits, some of which are torturing a guy, not hard for them to think the gunshots were being used to scare him since there was only a few.

>>Don’t take the shot.

Keep your weapon on him though

Better to lose and ear or take a shoulder wound than die.

>Take the shot.
This isn't Hollywood, he knows hes screwed and lowering the gun invites danger and control to the opponent. In character I think will would have some experience about how fast things went wrong with hostages, surrenders, threats, etc.

Distract him

>>Don’t take the shot.
We're not a good shot. Morrigan is.

Will isn't going to make a choice here, hes going to wait to be told what to do.
>>
>>37870799
>>Don’t take the shot.
We aren't that impulsive yet.
>>
>>37870840
Dying is distracting, sorry that's a valid choice you have but I just couldn't resist
>>
>>37870799
>Dont take the shot.

Not yet at least. I wanna watch him realize how fucked he is. Besides Morg is a better shooter than us.

Should've shot him as he was saying something so he was distracted.

Alright, looks like we aren't taking the shot.

Writing.
>>
>>37870799

"If you kill him, you have no leverage. I never understood that, and we always killed both before so I never got a chance to ask. So. Why threaten to kill the only person giving us a reason to keep you alive?"

You don’t shoot, the man’s knife to close to the farmer’s neck for you to get a good shot. Nobody else does either, the man with the knife hiding behind the farmer and the chair as best as he can.

“Alright buddy,” comes Morrigan’s voice, even as her rifle remains focused on the bandit, “Assuming I give a shit about farmer Bob here, what exactly are you proposing we do with you then?”

The man behind the farmer continues to cower, his knife quavering slightly.

“I just want out of here,” he says, “That’s all I want. You back off, I’ll take the farmer and go until I’m far enough away and then let him go.”

Morrigan seems to consider his deal for a moment and then shakes her head.

“If I had any reason to trust you,” she says, her voice cold, “Which I don’t, I might consider the deal. But seeing as how you already shot a woman dead, I think you should join your friends.”

“Why you!” says the man, twitching slightly upwards as he holds the knife.

That twitch is apparently enough for Morrigan, as she pulls the trigger, rounds ripping out from her gun and blowing off the top of the last bandits head and dropping him to the ground, even as the farmer flinches away in fear.

You stand there, a little stunned at how good of a shot that was and how quickly the mission ended.

As Cath drops her weapon to her side and Morrigan pulls out a cigarette, through the ringing in your ears you hear the farmer say, “I don’t know who the hell you are, but I’m glad you’re here.”

It feels…nice?

Alright folks, I'm going to call it here for the night.

That was a good seven hour run and I do have to get up in the morning, so apologies.

We'll do rewards/loot next time around, don't worry about that.

I'll have Q and A for a bit.

Thanks for all your support, both in thread and in the archives, it means a lot.

Have we made any headway towards First aid/Medical? Will we have to vote to read said books every session?
>>
>>37871414
You've made headway, not a lot but a bit. You won't have to vote for it every session either, not all of them will be back to back like the first ones have been.

Damn, showed up just in time to miss the thread..

Guide, I'd like to talk about my private desire for an M113 armored personal carrier. While some anons are talking about who Will is going to waifu, or him trying to be more sociable, I want to see Morrigan Military Solutions rolling around in a fixed up M113. I want to see them reigning hot death, while cruising stylishly, on the western frontier in the vehicle which will take the mercenaries to the places they need to kill bandits..

plz Guide
>>
>>37871738
M113 is shit and you should feel bad.
>>
>>37871743
>M113 a shit
Explain.
Would a Bradley be better?
>>
>>37871738
While I'm not going to say no, it will be quite a while before you reach that point.
>>
>>37871846
For a five man team it's too damn big and too slow. It's fuel economy isn't great and it's slower than dirt. A Bradley would be worse.

Think lighter.

>>37871848
Oh I know. I doubt any of the original team will still be alive by the time our merc outfit can afford/find one. But It'd still be nice to work for. Will makes one roll per day to see if he makes progress on fixing it or something.
