You are ANDR[u]-113, an insane and sentient robot in an unknown galaxy, your story begins here:

Several hours are spent “socializing”. Cassandra, Ben, Marie, and Bishop talking away while you mostly listen. Off to the side, NDL-74, Oppenheimer, and Anna intently play their game of go fish.

Eventually, Anna’s eyes start to droop, Ben stands up, stretching while he does so, “Guess it’s bedtime”.
Marie gets up as well, yawning.

Very quickly, everything is packed up, the cards restacked, and the glasses of water put away. The chess set the NDS units were using disappears into thin air almost.
“Come, Oppenheimer, NDS-4 and I would like to do a few more test on you, for medical purposes”.

“Yeah, alright”. Oppenheimer gives a wave to the sleepy Anna, her small hand waving in response as she is carried away.

After Oppenheimer leaves, flanked by the NDS units, Cassandra helps the humans get ready for bed. You, NDL-74, and Bishop are left to your own devices. The two others deciding to follow you as you leave the living quarters of the ship.

You’re not sure where to go from here. You’re not certain what to make of Oppenheimer. He is a Terran, but has almost no knowledge of Earth. He does seem rather amazed by the humans, and generally happy to be around them. Perhaps you could ask him to join up on your quest, to find more humans, and possibly save them.

On the other hand, you haven’t known him for that long, you are still unsure if you can trust him.

Another matter you should address is the looted credit chips from the Rauwept. You mainly want to know if you can access them for your own use, but you are slightly paranoid that they can be tracked. The white tablet you also found seems to be rather important, you should check on it as well. Perhaps Oppenheimer can be of use.

You could just ask the Chimp a torrent of question, you know so little about the Universe, and don’t really know where to start looking. Asking Oppenheimer to give you the information could prove useful in the future.

You could always return to the Library, the information offered there could greatly boost your understanding of several technologies, but the information does seem politically biased, it might not help you understand the Xenos of the galaxy that well.

Speaking of knowledge, you better give the NDS units some projects.

As you finish your train of thought, you arrive at the bridge, Bishop and NDL-74 flanking you.

Humans were pretty cautious when it came to AI. They made it impossible for a limited AI to create a full AI. These limitations can of course be broken, given enough time and research.

Right now, you could create semi-aware security bots. Much like the NDS units, but with a focus on combat and defense.

Only a few at a time, explain our mission and what we are wanting to do if he gives us all the info, maybe offer him to join us.

Basic plan: go into being a merchant ship, build up credits to improve the ship into something to be reckoned with, small fleet in future. From there carve out suitable living space or build a migrant/merchant fleet. Collecting any remaining human specimens as we go along and recruiting people to our little faction. Eventually get powerful enough to re-found the human species on its own world again.

You turn towards your two companions, “You are free to do as you desire, there are several things I must take care of at the moment”.

The giant NDL gives a nod, “Returning to guard duties”

“I think I’ll acquaint myself with these controls, my boy. Never know when it might come in handy!” Bishop takes one of the side chairs on the bridge, turning on the console. Lines of text quickly scroll, faster than any human can read.

Now on your own, you head on over to the Medical Bay. When you enter the spotless white room, you see that Oppenheimer is sitting on a different medical bed than the one he died on, which is a good thing you suppose.

The Two NDS machines hover over the chimp with a multitude of instruments. Oppenheimer looks up when he hears you approaching, the two NDS units continue to focus on their instruments.

“What’s up, chief?

“Just wanted to ask you a couple questions, Oppenheimer,” You settle into a nearby doctor's stool, facing the Chimp.
“As you can probably gather, we’re lacking in information on almost everything about the Andromedans. You’re sort of the only person we can ask about them”.

Oppenheimer reaches up to scratch under his chin, to the irritation of NDS-4, who is attempting to take his blood pressure. “Well, shit. What can you say about a couple thousand different species? You already know about the Uplifters, Ascensionist, and that shit?”

You nod several times, listening intently to the Ape.

“Well, that’s something. Let me give it to you straight, it’s all a bunch of bull shit. Sure, you can say those ideo-whatchama call its, group up all the species in how they think, but really, they tend to war amongst each other the most.

See, Uplifters always fight with Uplifters over the rights of one planet or another. They don’t even live on them, just plant some biological seeds, and say they’ll come back in a couple million years to see what ‘potential Uplifts arise’. Stupid shit if you ask me. Ascensionist like to stay on one planet, spend their days on philosophy and research ‘n shit. Also stupid. They’ll commit genocide over some new tech or biological secret. Bastards.

Imperials like to spread out on as many planets as they can, but really they’re limited by their terraforming tech, and the One for One rule. Ain’t a single planet in this galaxy with life on it, they’re all barren wastelands. So sometimes different species team up to terraform a planet, then get into a war to see who controls it. Fucking nut jobs.

You know the One for One rule?”

Again, you nod, soaking in everything.

“That’s good too. Well, this really fucks up everything. Tech and communications can only travel as fast as a ship can. So, even though we live in this technological age, I still gots to write a letter to my buddy on Omicron-7 .

Everyone’s a colonist, see? They came over in these massive ships, took them like, 285 years, or something crazy like that, to get over here. They say Andromeda is full, I think that’s crazy. 1 Trillion stars and you’re telling me you’re running out of space? Nah, I think something else is up, you dig?

More colonist come all the time, in growing numbas too! Each colony fleet is bigger than the last, and that’s not setting well with the people already here.

Sure we got a lot of room, the first fleet landed in about this area, and they’re slowly expanding out. Not that big of a space though, really. Lot of untouched space out there”.

Oppenheimer spends the next half hour filling you in petty wars, and trade agreements, he actually seems rather bored to it all, but you analysis each piece of information .
>>
>>37906176
After Oppenheimer finishes giving you the shake down on the newest ship models that everyone is using, you suddenly remember the Credit Chips.
“What do you think about these?” You say, as you quickly unclip the black chips from your belt.

“Ah shit, got some hot credits here do yea? Yeah I know how to crack these suckers, got the tech at my living unit. You got these off those Rauwept bastards, eh? Get anything else?”

“Yes, this tablet was held by what I suppose was the leader”.You hand over the white tablet to the Ape, text flashing across the surface.

Oppenheimer takes the tablet, turning it over in his hands a couple of times. “Aw shit , it’s a ship key. The station gives it out to people who park their ship and leave it unguarded. Little force field pops up around it, but this”, he gives the tablet a couple of taps, “ Will turn it off. Pretty big find, if you ask me, in fact-”

“Medical exams complete. Thank you Mr.Oppenheimer”. The NDS units say in simultaneously.
“We shall continue out medical research, perhaps we will develop more ...reliable medicine”

You put a hand out to stop the nearby NDS-12. You reach down to your hip and unhook the Energy Pistol. You hate to part with the weapon, it’s proven reliable up to this point. You present the weapon to the NDS unit, handle first.
“I want you to attempt to reverse engineer this weapon”

“Fascinating”, the NDS unit says, gently take the weapon into both of its hands, its optics shifting about, already taking measurements of the weapon. The two NDS units hurry off to their instruments, eager to begin their work.

Oppenheimer watches the two machines work, before turning to you with a crooked grin, “So, pick you your poison boss. Want to crack some Credit Chips, or steal a ship?”

You stare at the grinning chimp for a moment.
You do need more resources. A ship, an actual combat ship would prove pretty useful.
“Alright, let’s do it”.

“You’re not as bad as I thought, chief”. Oppenheimer springs onto his feet. You notice that he seems to be pretty springy for someone who received a knife wound, blunt force trauma, and died, only a handful of hours ago.

Perhaps it’s the strange augmentations he has, or a result of the strange blue hue which still covers his skin. Biologicals are strange.

“Bishop, meet me in front of the ship, pick out two NDR units and have them well armed. Make sure you are also prepared. Please pick up Oppenheimer’s weapon from the armory as well. We’re going onto Trade Hub “.

The response you get back over the radio is rather enthusiastic, “Yes Sir! You’ll ‘ave the finest boys on the ship ready”.

You asked for two of the NDR units to be prepped. You are unaware of the “boys” Bishop is referring to. You don’t waste time

“Hey, do you happen to have my scattergun?” Oppenheimer asks as you make your way down the hallway. He struggles somewhat to keep up with your wider stride.

“Yes,I have already instructed Bishop you retrieve it for you. I believe we should be well armed if we plan to steal a ship”.

Oppenheimer seems to visibly relax a bit when you tell him you have his weapon, “Oh good, I was afraid it was lost after the fight. Me and Jacqueline have been through a lot”.

“Jacqueline?” You are a bit puzzled, you don’t see why Oppenheimer would randomly bring up another person. Perhaps he was brain damaged after his death?

“Yep, that’s what I call my scattergun, got her the first day I got on this station”.

Biologicals are strange indeed. Before you can ask any questions, the pair of you arrive at the airlock. Stepping out of the Lunar Apogee and onto Trade Hub 7, you see NDL-74 standing to the side, arms crossed.
>>
>>37907607
Bishop stands at attention, energy pistol at his hip. Behind him, two NDR units stand shoulder to shoulder. The rifles you salvaged from the lunar wreck strapped across their back, with the strange Xeno blades on their hips.

“Waiting for your orders, Sir!”, Bishop yells out as he snaps a smart salute.

“Thank you Bishop, follow me. NDR-103 and NDR-107, follow as well”.

“Combat and Salvage protocols downloaded”, the two machines say in unison.
You think they’re being rather assuming. You doubt you’ll see any combat, maybe Bishop has been telling them something different.

“Guard duty maintained, caution advised”. The massive NDL unit says to you, its eyes vigilantly scanning the dock. It seems indifferent about not being picked for the mission.

From the corner of your optics, you see Oppenheimer take his weapon from NDR-107 with some force, quickly looking over the weapon for any signs of damage.
“Thank you, NDL. If all goes as planned, we shall return shortly. You have the helm until then.
Lead on, Oppenheimer”.

Thus prepared, your party sets out. Oppenheimer in the lead, with the tablet in hand. Occasionally glancing up to check you’re heading in the right direction. Instead of heading into the station, you skirt the perimeter, following the path of the docks.

You pass by various cargo containers, ships of all makes and types, workers from dozens of different species, and even a few robotic workers moving cargo about. Bishop seems to soak in all the details. Noting the different languages on the various containers, the anatomy of the different Xenos, and the designs of the various ships.

He seems so absorbed in observing all the sights, that he seems to have stopped his strange rambling which accompanies almost all of his actions.
>>
>>37907643
As you follow Oppenheimer through the docks, you see that many of the Xenos carry weapons of their own. You wonder if all stations are like this, or if Trade Hub 7 is just one of the more dangerous Trade Hubs.

After an hour or so of walking. Oppenheimer suddenly stops, “It’s this one over here”. He points towards a ship about four or five times larger than your own shuttle. It’s hull is sleek and black, what you assume is the bridge is a shining silver. The design is insectoid, strange branches of the hull sleeking off in curved patterns, only to connect further down the ship. The ship looks almost biological to you, and large head, which flows down to a tail like stern. Rips of black hull protect the center, while the long landing gear holding the ship up reminds you of claws.

Near the back, a large chunk of black and red material actually floats disconnected from the hull. You can’t begin to guess for what reason it would do that.

Oddly enough, the design is nothing like the suits of the Rauwept you saw earlier.

“Oh yeah, these bastards are ugly, mean, but powerful. Not a real ship really, but sort of a small corvette, dependent on their Hoard Ship.”

As Oppenheimer talks, you see the feint outline of a force field about the ship.
Looking around, this part of the docks seems rather deserted. It seems rather easy to just walk in.

What shall you do?

“Hoard ship?”

Oppenheimer looks up from the tablet as he pushes several buttons, “Oh yeah. I didn’t tell you much about the Rauwept, did I? Well, where to start”.

As he talks, Oppenheimer walks over to a terminal placed in front of the ship, placing the tablet in a slot that looks like it was designed for it. You hear a faint click, before the force field starts to power down, melting away slowly from the top.

“They’re a pretty young race, found about, oh I’d say 120,000 years ago. Ascensionist found them first. They were looking for some lost tech in an asteroid belt, when they found these strange worm things eating through the asteroid and the tech they were looking for. I forgot who found them, but they decided not to blast the ‘heretics’ away.

That’s a pretty big thing for Ascensionist, like I said earlier, they will kill anything that’s a ‘heretic’. Anyways, They spent a lot of time experimenting with these weird worm things, and after a while, they Uplifted them.

Yeah, Ascensionist have been known to Uplift species from time to time, but usually just as weapons. Like the Rauwept.

So how do you turn a bunch of worms into bipeds that can pilot your ships and shoot your guns? You make them into these weird hive mind things. You fill a suit with the wormy parts, then put in a ‘brain’, and they all sort of hook up like synthetic muscle, it’s weird”.

Oppenheimer talks as he leads you to the ship. Walking over a catwalk, you approach a door of sorts. The airlock is made of hundreds of interlocking black plates, as you approach, they slowly start to peel away.

“Weird. Anyways, so sure, they make decent soldiers like that, but they’re fucking stupid. They’re like weird biological machines.

So who ever had the bright idea to Uplift these bastards decide that if they put tens of thousands of the Rauwept, the worms, into a big tank, throw in a couple brains connectors, they should be smart enough to pilot starships. Not like this one, but real battleships.”

You’re now walking through a dark hall, the ground is made out of various sheets of black hull, and the shining silver material you saw cover the bridge. Along the top of the hall, a tube of some sort of luminescent red fluid flows along the hall.

While normal white lights dot the interior, the flowing red liquid casts everything in a orange and red glow.

“That worked for a bit, giving their masters tons of newly piloted ships, but big fucking surprise, the Rauwept became a biiiit more sentient at this point, and realized they were slaves. They launched into a revolution of sorts, wiped out their masters, and have been a fucking pain in the ass for everyone else in the universe ever since”.

Oppenheimer glances over and sees you eyeing the red and orange liquid suspiciously, “Don’t worry, I don’t know what the fuck that is, but it some sort of Rauwept tank or whatever. They keep their Hive Minds on the Horde ships.”

“Absolutely fascinating, my boy, but if I may?”. Bishop waits for Oppenheimer to look back, a bit confused, but still waves a hand, waiting for Bishop to get on with it.
“After reviewing Andru’s battle with these ‘Rauwept’, Their suits are designed completely different from this ship here”.

“Oh yeah, well, I ain’t no expert, but I know that design of suit the ones in the bar were wearing is the one the first Rauwept wore, so that means their part of an old Horde, one of the first”.

It’s at this point you arrive at the bridge, you’re not sure how you ended up here.
>>
>>37910742
>old Horde, one of the first”.
i feel like this news does not bode well for us,
>>
>>37910742
so these chuckle fucks are still alive, and will remember our faces(since thier minds on are thier main ships), now we have hive mind space worms and skelly suits that want us dead.
>>
>>37910742
To you, the passages were disorientating, twisting and winding through the ship. Perhaps to confuse borders, perhaps it’s just the shape that makes sense to the Rauwept.

A door very similar to the airlock protects the bridge. Somehow sensing your approach, the door starts to slide open as your party approaches. A raised chair dominates the bridge, a throne of blackish material.

The rest of the bridge is quite sparse, there are several stations with consuls around what you assume is the captain’s chair, but there are far less than on your own ship.

Walking over to the captains chair, you see that the arm rests end into large spheres, with small openings on them.

“Biological interface. Rauwept hook up directly into their ship”. Oppenheimer taps the spheres with the back of his hand. He moves over to the keyboard by the Captain’s chair, and being typing in commands. The keyboard is off to the side, far removed from the Captain’s chair, but can be moved on joints to be directly in front of it.

You conclude that’s it’s an auxiliary system. Which makes sense, it is probably much easier to simply link up to the ship than to type in commands, but it never hurts to have a backup.

As Oppenheimer types, a large hologram comes into existence, characters rushing over it.
“If you want to dock on the Trade Hubs, you need to have an interface with Galactic 3 on it, incase of emergency. Incase you’re wondering why this keyboard is here.

I just checked the manifest, the cargo bay is completely empty, they may have been picking something up. Which make-”

A large icon springs to life on the screen. The text rather different from the other symbols. Your translator was able to present the so called “Galactic 3” as English characters, but this new language is some sort of flowing and swirling mass. A single continued line connected to form some sort of message.
>>

“Shit, I’m blocked out of the system, chief, all I can do is push this button, don’t know what language that is. Each Rauwept Hivemind has it’s own language, one of the fellas that use to go at the bar told me that one. Might not be true. “

“Honestly can’t tell the difference between these barbaric tongues”, Bishop comments behind you. You absentmindedly hand him a communicator from your belt. Your eyes trying to make sense of the button on the screen.

“By the Queen! This might have been helpful earlier…”
Half your mind questions what Queen Bishop is talking about, the other half is trying to decide on what to do.

>>37911108
I'd rather not place our ship near the "hivemind" of the ship in case it can relay the description of our ship, surely a space station like the one we're in must have a black market providing some sort of chop shop for ships and stuff. If so our new simian friend ought to know a few to get into contact with.
>>
>>37911321
Yeah let's just sell it, it seems like the best option to me right now unless we discover some crazy rare tech installed which seems unlikely.

We should search the ship for personal belongings and other resources that we could use first though.

“Don’t touch it for now, there is no telling what it can do”, you say waving your hand dismissively for now.
“For now, let’s take a look around the ship”.

Everyone in the party falls in line with you, Oppenheimer has his “Scattergun” resting casually on his shoulder.
“You’re the boss, Andru”.

As you return to the winding hallway, you turn to Oppenheimer. “So does the rest of this ‘Horde’ know what we look like? That does not bode well”.

Oppenheimer firmly shakes his head. “No, it doesn’t work that way. I’ve heard rumors they can form psychic links, but those were from some drunk bastards. Besides, they’d have to be near the Hordeship to communicate with their Hivemind.

Trust me, if there was a Hordeship nearby, you would know. Hell, half this station would be gone by now”.

As you move through the strange ship, it suddenly dawns on you why it was so easy to reach the bridge. There is only a single passageway.

You follow the single hallway for several minutes, but find no branches, no rooms, nothing.
The hall does lead into a single chamber, with a large pool of the same orange and red liquid. Your party takes care to skirt around the pool, staying as far away as possible.

Eventually the hallway opens up into what you assume is the cargo bay. It looks like the rest of the ship has been gutted out, in order to make room for… something. For now, it’s empty. Near the back, you see that it’s similar to the airlock, perhaps the back of the ship opens to allow the massive cargo bay to be loaded.

Oppenheimer turns to you with a shrug, a deflated look on his face, “I ain’t ever been on a Rauwept ship before, can’t really tell you why it’s built like this. This obviously was meant to be a short mission, there isn’t any supplies on this damn ship. Like I said earlier, I think they were gonna pick something up, probably black market shit”.
>>
>>37911785
You’re rather disappointed how with how this ship heiss is turning out, you were hoping for something to boost your own supplies. “What are the salvage possibilities for this ship?”

“Well, I was never much of a Bone Picker, but I say next to none. I can’t pilote this ship so the only way to get parts from it is to strip it down while it’s in dock, but you can bet your metal ass that’ll get the dock patrol on your case real quick”

“What a disappointment, lad. Damn barbaric Xenos and their personal agendas”, Bishop chimes in from the back.

You could head back now, get Oppenheimer to crack the Credit Chips, or head over to the Library. You do hate to leave empty handed though.

“ I suppose we can’t head back empty handed now, let’s head back to the bridge and activate that button”.

Oppenheimer slaps you on the back, a grin on his face. “I took you as a gambling man, Andru. Let’s do it!”

Your party makes it way back to the bridge. It takes only several moments before you’re standing again in the almost empty bridge.

Oppenheimer sets his weapon against the Captain’s chair. Typing in several commands on the console. “Ready?” He asks, looking over his shoulder at you.

You give the Ape a nod. He in turn pushes an enter key, sending the command. There is a jolt throughout the ship, you have to reach out to the Captain’s chair to balance yourself. Looking out the front of the ship, you see that you are quickly rising off the ground. The ship smoothly turns about, making it’s way towards the exit of the dock.

Lines of code and commands scroll across the front of the ship, possibly the commands the autopilot is executing. In less than a minute, you’ve passed through the forcefield covering the entrance of the dock, entering the silence of Space.

“Shit, this thing is quicker than I thought ”. Oppenheimer quickly gets to his feet, Scattergun clutched in his hands.

“This is what I expected, Oppenheimer . That or the ship explodes”.

“Well, those are both terrible options Andru! Why did you let me click that damn but-”
Oppenheimers words are quickly cut off as a bright flash fills the room. After your optics readjust themselves, you look out the window to see the beauty of the Warp.

It’s much different than what you experienced with your own Warp Drive. A bright light fills your vision, you feel like you’re falling endlessly towards its. Rushing through clouds of dust and swaths of space, only enforces your feeling of falling.

“Shit, we’ll I guess we better settle in for a wait, not telling how long this thing will be going. Maybe we’ll get eaten by the damn Rauwept when we exist warp”.

“I do not understand why you are so regretful of pushing the button, Oppenheimer. Are you not a gambling man as well?”

“I don’t know, I thought it would just open up the ships computer, let us steer with with console commands. Salvage this bad boy and be on our wa-”

Another bright flash erupts, screwing your optics once more. Once you’ve recovered, your surprised to see a rather plain sight. Some class of earlier star gives emits a faint light, illuminating the surround area of dust and small solid matter accretions.

“Oh.. that was quick, maybe this was a meeting spot or something”. Oppenheimer walks towards the class covering the bridge, peering out into the young star formation.

Several moments pass in silence, then you notice something off. You can’t really tell what is is at first, but the scene before you seems… different.

As you’re pondering what it is you that is bothering you, you see the image before twist and bend.

It’s subtle at first, outlining a large area in front of you, then suddenly the disrupted light before you starts to peel away, parts of the surround dust be replaced by pitch black matter.

In a matter of moments, your field of view is dominated by a massive black ship, though no where as near as large as Trade Hub 7, is is many multitudes larger than the Lunar Apogee.

You’d say its entire length was 17 Kilometers. The ship in itself has an insectoid design, much like the corvette you’re in now. A large band around the center emits an orange and red light similar to the ones you’ve seen throughout the corvette.
>>
>>37913212
“Shit, it’s the Hordeship”.
Before Oppenheimer can say anything else, the autopilot kicks into actions. The corvette starts to head towards the Hordeship at high speeds.

“Oppenheimer, can we override the autopilot?”. You try to keep a calm demeanor, perhaps is not the best time to panic.

“No, no, if we do, we might swerve all over the place, and they’ll probably shoot us. I can try if you want though”.

That doesn’t sound like the best outcome. You could try hacking yourself, but you actually have very little experience at hacking. You are a machine after all, you should be able to do it easily.

Time is ticking, even as you think, you see the Hordeship filling the view.

What shall you do?

You move past Oppenheimer to the Captain’s chair, taking a seat on the black throne. Pulling out a small port cable from the base of your skull, you reach down to the console keyboard, and with your mechanical strength, you rip the top half of the console off. Looking around on the inside, you find the necessary wires you need, manually connecting them to your cable.

Your mind starts to slip into the world of codes and commands. It’s an odd experience for you. Cold, and unfeeling, but are you not unfeeling yourself?

Your thoughts and will quickly flow into lines of binary, you modum of communication with the alien system.

Your first attempt at hacking the system is rather pitiful, you try to find a way past the ship’s security but are quickly denied at every point.

You decide that you’ll brute force it then. You being to churn out hundreds of thousands of false data to distract the system. Even at your current rate, the Xeno system is able to bat away your code at will.

You begin to pull on your power supplies, overclocking your own mind. Soon, thousands of false data becomes millions. Still the system holds out.

Time is of the essence, you draw on even more power, quickly draining your battery. The Xeno defence starts to crumble under your brute force, millions of failed passwords and access codes starting to win their way out.

Then, in an anticlimactic moment, you’re in.
You are in control.

The autopilot continues to work its way, the simple program calculating trajectories and flight patterns towards the beacon. You mercilessly crush the simple program, taking over the reigns of the ship. You can’t seem to access all the resources of the ship at the moment, you have to calculate the flight patterns with your own processors.
>>
>>37914446
Thankfully, the starmap is the relient machine you have installed on your own ship. It happily supplies you with the coordinates back to Trade Hub 7.

As you run at thousands of cycles a second, to you it seems that you pivot the ship around in slow motion. In reality, the sharp turn is a too much for the inertia stabilizer of the ship to handle.

Part of you is aware that Oppenheimer, Bishop, and the NDR units are thrown around the bridge, but the glorious code calls your attention.

In mere seconds, you’ve turned the ship around, and ready the Warp Drive. It is at this moment that in alien presence enters the ship’s computer. The defence of the ship eagerly lower themselves to receive this strange presence.

There is nothing it can do to stop your retreat, but perhaps that is not what it is after. Like a snake, you can feel it coil itself, ready to strike. If you tried to leave the realm of code, the presence will have already attacked you.

What shall you do?

You prepare to deal with what you assume is the Hivemind, this ‘Horde’. You first reach out to it, trying to establish a connection. Simple Communication.

The Horde seems rather surprise by your approach, it aggressively latches onto your connection, opening communications.

{You are not us}
Thousands of voices ring in your mind.
{You are not flesh. You are not Blood. Are you Prey?}
The presence spreads out on the ships computer, seeming to try and overpower you
{My name is ANDR[u]-113. I am a machine}
The Horde reels back from you, it sounds...angry.
{Machine} The voices hiss. {A single mind? A false Mind.}
It seems to only speak in facts and questions. The thoughts are very different from what you are use to.

The thousands of voices seem to all think a single thought, a consensus is formed, and then they speak.

Alien indeed.

The Horde continues to spread out along the ship’s computer.
{The mind of metal is weak. It is foolish. The Horde is strong}
They say gleefully.
You try your hardest to project a cocky smile.
Then you trap springs.

As the Horde spreads itself out over the Ship’s computer, it leaves the most important part vulnerable. It’s connection to the ship’s computer. That is where you strike.

Draining your almost empty batteries, you quickly unleash a torrent of data at the connection, breaking through the unexpecting hoard, and following the connection all the way back to the Hordeship.

The Xeno code left on the corvette is quickly removed without any driving force.

Still reeling from your attack, you break into the Hordeship, and into the mind of the Horde itself. You wreck havoc as your mind fights as deeply as possibly into the Xeno Hivemind. You rip memories out, processing them for your own curiosity.

You see Rauwept similar to the ones you fought at the bar. Thousands of them, row upon row. A tall, slender Xeno walks among their ranks, examining them. The Xeno is draped in rich purple robes, it's face a blur
>>
>>37915789
Fucking

>>
>>37915789
Next, you see squadrons of Hordeships fighting off Xeno fleets over a world of purple, blue and green.

The next time you see the peaceful planet, the Hordeships are turned upon, unleashing angry red and orange beams of light upon the surface.

You quickly leave seeds of your presence among places you don’t expect the Rauwept to look. A back door in what seems to be a medical bay, a dormant virus in an airlock access port, and several like that.

You start to feel the overwhelming presence of thousands of minds crush down upon you. Before you’re ejected from the Hordeship, you’re able to pull a fragment of a memory away.
A command.

{Travel to Trade Hub 7} The voices decre.
{Head to the Lucky Pilot}
Some of the minds feel anger, desiring revenge.
{The contact will meet you there. Take the 7th seat}
{Retrieve the package}
{Slay are foes}
{We shall feast on their flesh}
The voices gleefully cry out.

At this moment, you feel your connection to the Hordeship severed.

You pull yourself back into your own mind, just as a bright flash fills the room. You’ve reached warp.

“Hey, you alright, chief? That was some fancy pilot work”.
“Indeed, you would have done well in her Majesties air force”

You become aware that Bishop and Oppenheimer are looking over at you. Oppenheimer has a look of mild concern on his face, while Bishop is a robot.

“I’m fine, let’s just get the hell back to the ship”.

“Indeed, this has been quite the unprofitable expedition”. Bishop offers you a hand, helping you to your feet.

Within moments, you’re back at the Trade Hub 7. The reprogrammed autopilot taking you back to your previous docking in moments.

As your party makes it way to the airlock, you contemplate your next move.

Why else did no one in the trade hub care a metal can pulled up in an unregistered hick as fuck space ship with absolutely no clue how a starport works, when any Andromedean should have came through one to get here in the first place?

Also, are the people here emigrating because of religious persecution or potato famine?

“Oppenheimer, let’s head to your place before we go back to the ship”.

“Good idea, I’d rather have my things before the Rauwept tear this place apart”, the Ape nods his head as he takes the lead.

Your party quickly makes its way through the station. You head past the well kept trade district, and enter the red district.

Thankfully, you’re larger party deters any thugs or criminals from approaching you, and you’re in the area of the now destroyed lucky Pilot.

Oppenheimer pauses when he sees the wreck of his, his posture slumping a bit more than it already is.

“Are you alright, old bean?” Bishop says while placing a hand on the Chimp’s shoulder.

“Yeah, I guess it doesn’t matter, this station is about to get it’s shit bashed anyways”, he says giving a bitter chuckle.

Oppenheimer leads you into an alley way. He seems to know where he is going, speedily taking several turns, and cutting between several ran down houses.

You arrive a a pile of shacks and shops. It reminds you of the massive market towers you saw earlier, but without any of the structural integrity.

Oppenheimer leads you into a rather old fashion elevator, closing an iron gate behind you and pushing several buttons.

After several minutes, there is a ding, and the elevator opens up into a cramped hallway.
“Welcome to the fanciest part of Trade Hub 7” Oppenheimer walks up to one of the rusted down iron doors, pulling out a small white card and holding it above one a different colored metal plate in the wall.

The door slides open on rusted hinges, opening up to a somewhat neat apartment. Spartan, it has a small kitchen built into one wall, a medium sized build taking up most of the room. Two doors connected to the room. One is open and leads into a bathroom, the other Oppenheimer enters, the ringing of metal hitting metal, and the rustle of moved papers echoing out.
>>
>>37916965
is the alien ship next to our ship?
>>
>>37916965
Moments later, Oppenheimer emerges with a electrical set up of sorts, with a small screen and keyboard, with a mess of wires shooting out.
“Here, hand me those Credit Chips you want hacked”.
You comply, unlatching them from your belt and giving them to the Ape.

He hooks each one into a separate wire, and throws the entire thing onto the bed. Returning to the closet he just came from. The sounds of moving clutter emitting from the room.

“I’m gonna pack my shit, those should be done soon”.

The NDR units stand awkwardly about the cramped space, patiently awaiting orders.
Bishop occupies his time by examining what you assume is a newspaper.

“Bishop, take NDR-103, and head back to the Rauwept Corvette, program it to go to a random location, but remember to archive the location for future salvage. Return to the Lunar Apogee when your task is complete”

Bishop snaps a smart salute, though with some difficulty in the cramped space. “Yes Sa’ir! NDR-103! FAAAAAL IN! LEFT! LEFT! LEFT RIGHT Left…”

The yelling machine quickly fades away as he exits the room. You slowly shake your head in confusion. That Bishop is a strange one, perhaps you’ll have to look into his sanity.

Still, there is a lot to be done. “Oppenheimer!” You call out.

“What?” The Chimp peaks his head out from the closet for a moment
“Are you coming with us, or are you taking private transport?”

The Chimp scratches his bald head in thought, “Hell, I’ll go with you. I guess it’s best if I try to help out those humans as much as possible. You got a fast ship?”

If you could, you’d crack a small, “The fastest there is”.

Oppenheimer scoffs before returning to the closet, “Sure, I’ve seen that junker of a ship”.

You don’t respond to that, even though the ship is one of your greatest prizes. Mentally you’re still grinning, wait till that old bastard sees what you’ve got.

Moments later, Oppenheimer emerges from the closet, a black backpack strapped to his back, along with his scattergun, and a black duffel bag slung over his shoulder.
“Alright, let’s see what you’ve got there”. The Ape picks up the screen, casually glancing over the screen. He gives a little bark of laughter before tossing the screen at you.

Taking a look at the screen, you see three separate numbers:
//PORT 2: **10,000 CREDITS
//PORT 3: **10,000 CREDITS
//PORT 4: **2,600,000 CREDITS

You laugh a bit gleefully too. That’s a lot of credits.
Though, it sorts of raises more questions. What exactly were the Rauwept trying to purchase? A weapon of some sorts, but what weapon is bought for 2.6 million credits?

“Hey, stop gawking at your new found fortune, we have to get going”.

You follow the loaded down Oppenheimer back to the elevator, NDR-107 following behind you. You ride the elevator down to the bottom in silence, everyone a bit tense at the counting down timer.

You’re once more down on the streets. Following Oppenheimer, you’re quickly out of the alleyways, and heading out of the main road from the red district.

“One moment, we have to make a detour before we leave”.
The short Ape shrugs, “Alright, Chief, but make it quick, we’re running out of time”.

You lead your smaller party back to the market district, heading through the more orginized streets of the station.

In less than ten minutes you’re at the base of the Market Tower you were at earlier. Your party quickly picking an elevator and taking it to the higher levels.

When you reach the top level, you lead your group out of the metal box and onto the catwalk, heading over to Zirk’s shop. You feel like you owe the Xeno a warning against the comming Rauwept, perhaps he’ll even join your crew.

However, when you reach the shop, you see the shelves and counters empty, almost everything is stripped down.

“Zirk?” You call out. Heading deeper into the shop. You walk over to the door the old Xeno usually emerges from, pushing it open. Looking inside you see another barren room, this one with an empty bed frame and desk.

On the desk you find a little metallic card. Picking it up, you see text scroll across it.

“Hello! You might be confused to find my humble emporium emptied out, to that you are justified! You see, I was recently informed that the Rauwept are coming to Trade Hub 7. To you dear reader, I suggest you run!

Just as you finish reading the message, a loud klaxon sounds throughout the station. A sharp message barking out from unseen speakers
[ATTENTION. A RAUWEPT FLEET HAS ARRIVED IN PROXIMITY TO TRADE HUB 7. FORTRESS SHIELDS WILL ACTIVATE IN 7 MINUTES 45 SECONDS. IF YOU WANNA RUN, DO SO BEFORE THEN].

Doing quick math in your head, you’re roughly 15 minutes from the docks. Maybe even more since you’re at the top of a Trade Tower. ‘

You’re a bit confused on how Zirk found out about the Rauwept. You’re pretty sure you were the only ones that know prior to the alarm sounding. This entire day just leads to more and more questions.

“Shit”. Oppenheimer curses under his breath.

Your group makes it’s way over to the elevators. Riding the machine down to the ground level anxiously. When you reach the ground level, you see crowds of Xenos running around in all directions.

“Well Boss, looks like we’re in shit now”.

The streets get increasingly emptier as your hurry back to the Lunar Apogee. When you’re about halfway back, another alarm rings throughout the station. To your right, a formation of armed guards move through the streets, surround some sort of important official, while above a pair of more militaristic hovercraft fly past.

It seems like the station is settling in to defend itself, or perhaps to flee. You’re not sure of the extent of their defenses .

As you approach the docks, you can spot large crowds of people around the ships. Civilians, both armed and unarmed seem to be vying to secure passage onto any craft they can.

“Usually happens on any station under siege. All the Civs want to secure some sort of passage to run the blockade once the wall is down. Main problem for the defenders are that nothing, and I mean nothing, can get past a Fortress Shield. Not even in the warp”

Oppenheimer has a distasteful look on his face, as you pass by crowds of Xenos. A fight breaks out between a blue, four legged feathered Xeno, and a squat Xeno covered in thick plates of chitin.

As you make your way towards the Lunar Apogee, you see a sizable crowd has gathered around your ship.

Being one of the larger ships docked in this section of the Trade Hub 7, it’s predictable that you’d gather some attention.

This crowd seems less rowdy than the others, but there is a great din of sound fills the station. Oppenheimer glances over to you, before he starts to shove his way through the crowd. You follow after him, NDR-107 on your heels.

You see why everything seems to be in check here, NDL-74 flanked by three NDR units and Bishop stand in front of the airlock.

The giant casually rests a hand on its massive weapons.

Bishop spots your group, and moves forward, helping you move away from the mob.
“ ‘Ello, Captain. Rats fleeing the sinking ship eh? I’ve finish my assignment, the Corvette was sent on its merry way before these ‘Fortress Shields clamped down.

When I returned to our magnificent ship, these savages had already started forming up. Though, good sir NDL-74 is quite the imposing figure”.

“Very good Bishop. We’ll have to decide on what to do soon, any sightings of the Rauwept?”
You have to increase your own volume to be heard over the roaring crowd. They don’t seem very please that your party was granted access.

“Oh, Plenty Sh’ir! Take a look for yourself!” Bishop sweeps an arm broadly past your ship.
Beyond it, a deep golden light fills the void of space. It seems to be the Fortress Shield previously mentioned.

It is rather impressive, considering it covers all of the massive Trade Hub 7.
Beyond it, you can see black ships stalking about the perimeter. Swarms of Corvette identical to the one you stole move about, while larger frigates move above in smaller squads.

You don’t see the Hordeship at all, though beyond the picket of frigates, and swarms of corvettes, you think you spot much larger, and slender ships. They’re a kilometer or two in length. You don’t see any weapons, but they have the predatory look that is accustomed of the Rauwept.

Oppenheimer said that you can’t warp past the Fortress Shield, but he doesn’t know about your Warp Drive. You could just wait until the shield falls, it’d save you the risk of testing the limit of your warp drive, but you’re not sure how long the siege will last.

Another issue are these refugees of sorts. They might be dirty Xenos, but they’re innocent dirty Xenos. To an extent. You could save as many as you can, or you could not. Taking on a massive amount of passengers could pose a security risk.

What shall you do?

“We run the blockade” You confidently stride towards the airlock.

“Huzzah! Damn the torpedos!” Bishop waves his weapon above his head.

Oppenheimer runs up besides you, “Are you mad? You’ll get us all killed!”
It seems that the crowd heard you. Some stand balking, other laugh possibly, most just head on over to other crowds.

Your crew falls in behind you, NDL-74 being the last onboard, casting one more glance at the Xenos.

“You’ll kill us all! I told you already you can’t warp past a Fortress Shield!”
The Ape grows more frantic as you approach the bridge.

“We posses an experimental Warp Drive, we will be able to warp past the shield …. theoretically”.

“Theoretically? That’s stupid, I’ve never heard of a Warp Drive that can get past Warp Disruptors of any form, of any type”.

The Bridge doors slide open. Most of the NDR units have moved off to follow their regular patrols, leaving NDL,Bishop, Oppenheimer, and yourself on the bridge.

Bishop moves over to a pilot consul, typing in commands to the computer. “Permission to undock, Sh’ir?”

“Permission granted”. You seat yourself on the Captain’s Chair.
NDL-74 moves off to your side, looking out the viewing port of the bridge.

“Listen, Andru, just don’t man. This has been a long fucking day, just wait for the shield to fall. It might be a couple of weeks, but hey, that’s some down time”.

You ignore the pleading Chimp. As he talks, the Lunar Apogee disembarks from the Trade Hub 7 docks. It moves slowly through the bustling space between the station and the Fortress Shield. Many Shield compete for the spots closest to the shield, giving the greatest head start.

Once your position is taking, you begin to type in the appropriate commands for warp.
Since you’ve fixed the power supply and electrics of the ship, power isn’t a problem. You quickly dump power into the Warp Drive.

“You’re… you’re fucking mad, a damn robot, a crazy fucking machine!” Oppenheimer is yelling at this point.

You look up from your console, locking eyes with the blue Ape.
“Beep Boop Motherfucker”.
You hit the command to jump.

Color seems to rip its way into the world, filling your view with bright flashs of light.
Then suddenly, space and times opens up to you. A sight so beautiful, everything you know twists and turns. Lights flash by your view.
Eternities and eons pass, and suddenly, you’re exactly where you were before you warped.

A wave of blinding light erupts out from your ship, washing over the ships around you. As the light washes over the ships, they power down, arcs of lightning leaping over their hulls.
As the wave of light reaches the hull, it tears through it. The interlocking hexagonal plates melting backing into the void of space.

The light eventually reaches the packs of RauWept, though some time has passed, and it seems the intensity of the light has dimmed. Eventually, the light dies down, perhaps 5 or 10 light minutes out.

Silence drapes over the bridge as systems slowly come back to life, one after the other. You’re rather surprised you’re not offline, infact, you feel recharged, full of energy.

[12/20] Overcharge

“What the fuck did you just do?” Oppenheimer says quietly nearby. A hand covering his face.

“Uh… escaping?” You’ve fucked it, it would seem.
Checking your HUD, you can see that your ship is back online, apparently the only nearby. Your power seems to be diminished for now.

It’ll take sometime for your power to recover fully. Looking past the viewing port of the bridge, you can the Rauwept fleet seems to be quickly recovering to. Several Corvettes are already moving towards the vulnerable ships of Trade Hub 7.

Perhaps the Fortress Shield protected them from the blast as well.

You could move to engage them, though you’re not really outfitted for combat. You’ll have to wait for your power to recover, or you could pull it from other systems.

You could “Play possum” while you wait, or you could head back to the station. Perhaps for more protection, or to pick up refugees.

Looking out into space, you can see more Rauwept ships moving towards the station, while one or two of the nearby Xeno ships start to power up.

Basically what I'm saying is
>Write-in, Use the main computer and power from our ship, along with our backdoors into their system to psychically/virtually mentally overwhelm the Rauwept ships, then personally take control.

>>37921701
All I can say, Anon, is last time you caught them by surprise. You don't know how'll it go this time
>>
>>37921592
>Pull all power from medbay (IIRC it isn't currently being used) and put it all into warp drive to pre-charge it
>Wait until the smaller ships pull ahead to engage the station, then launch a partial spread of nukes at the concentration of larger ships, with the rest of the of the spread consisting of ballistics and missiles at the smaller ships attacking the station
>Attempt to hack them in their weakened/surprised state as >>37921725 said
>Warp out when they turn to engage us
We should at least make a token effort and give the station a chance to recover
>>
>>37921592
hitem with a nuke with a side of normal missles

There are about 2-3 anons left in this thread, I think I might call it for the night

I'd rather not have a couple anons making decisions, when most are gone

Thanks for playing y'all
We're going to end it on this anticlimactic note

END THREAD

That seems reasonable. Make sure, if you want more people voting on this, that you give some warning/extra time at the start of the thread.

Thanks for running.
>>
>>37921881
Anytime, Anon
Don't worry, I'll bring your stuff up at the beginning of the next thread, and give people time to vote.
>>

Gnight, thanks for running
>>
God damn retards
>>
>>37923517
You call people retarded only because we rolled poorly. It'd have worked otherwise, there is no need to be upset anon.
>>
Of course anons go full retard the second I go to sleep. Seems to be a habit in quests. Way to kill a station guys.
>>
>>37920755
Waking up to more Xenoquest is a blessing fit for a Sunday morning!
>>
>>37925921
Finish reading anon.
>>
>>37925953
Damn. I thought we were doing good.

Then we accidentally a whole fortress shield.
>>
>>37926019
At least we can add to our Xeno kill count!

Everyone will also know us as the people who destroyed Hub 7 now. So I guess we should murder all the witnesses? Or just be a hero and destroy the buggers to make up for it?
>>
>>37926019
Yup, Why we didn't wait I'll never know. Not like we had supply issues. hell we could have used the time to find Best merchant and learn more about this place.

>>37926042
I'd play possum for max overcharge then Hack with our back doors to drop their shields And nuke the bugs, hard.
>>
>>37926086
I would go for that.

I will see you in a week anon when the thread runs again!
>>
>>37926164
Same to you here's hoping anons will play smart as this is a pretty lethal situation.
>>

That's exactly the reason why I said what I said. I apologize for insulting people.

I hate when people choose actions in quests simply hoping for a good roll and pulling it through. That is not the decision making we need. Unless there are simply no other options left, we need to take safe approaches or at least take actions which are more or less though-through. If we take risks, the rewards should be greater than them or at least equal.

This happens in pretty much every quest, for some reason people feel the need to take the most "badass" or "cool" options disregarding logic and consequences. Don't look how the choice will play out if it succeeds, try to see what will happen if it fails and how to mitigate the failure or avoid it.

There was no downside on waiting for the shield to go down. In fact it provided us with a great opportunity to buy supplies, equipment and perhaps upgrade our ship for cheap. People would be trying to offload their goods for fraction of the price.

If we had actually managed to escape, we would have drawn a gargantuan target on ourself by showing everyone that we posses a hitherto unheard of technology. In fact, I think we already painted a target on ourself.
If we somehow manage to cripple the enemy fleet with hacking and offensive power, we STILL bring unneeded attention to ourself.
No matter what the result is, we lose in the end.

agreed, I was asleep for it sadly.
