You are Shee Hyul, rebel leader, psychic and Reunited. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.

You wake up alone in bed, reaching out instinctively for Lirael, before remembering she spent the night with Rainya. And then the rest of the events of the last few days come rushing back.

You and Rainya had just reached some sort of understanding about where you wanted to take your relationship, despite Lirael trying to get involved. Dev was learning about all sorts of technology, to better allow him to repair and upgrade the warmech, or *Mecky* as Lirael calls it. The research facility was clear of serec (for now at least) and you had located several more valuable stashes of equipment.

You were somewhat torn between doing more to help the rebellion and selling the gear when, upon returning to Dust Town you found hundreds of dusters dead at the hands of the police. The details of why are not yet clear but the effect was. Among the dead were Devs parents, you sat up with him last night until he finally slept, whilst Lirael and Rainya kept each other company.
>>
You huddle under the blankets, somewhat miserable yourself. You didn’t lose any family, but you still lost friends. Eventually you rise, no point in staying in bed all day. You take a quick shower and then head into the kitchen of the residence, might as well get breakfast started. You find the fridge well-stocked, one of the staff must have thoughtfully bought some food up last night.

You start cooking breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausages and toast as you wait for your companions to rise.

Lirael and Rainya are first up, coming into the kitchen just as you’ve got everything ready to serve.

“Morning” you greet them “sit down, I’ll have this plated up soon.”

Lirael yawns at you, Rainya says “need any help?”

“Yeah” you say “just grab the eggs before they overboil would you?”

Only once everything is laid out and served, does Dev make an appearance. He looks drained, as if all the energy has been pulled out of him.

“Dev” asks Rainya hesitantly “are you...?”

“I’ll manage” he says hoarsely, and then starts eating, not talking, just focusing on his food.

Breakfast is a quiet affair, and once done, Dev gets up and starts putting on his boots.

“Where are you going?” you ask.

“Work” he says “Don’t want to lose my job.”

The way most businesses in the Hive treat dusters, having your family die isn’t an excuse to miss work, so you see what he means. On the other hand, he’s your friend, and he’s suffering.

Rainya and Lirael both look at you as if they expect you to fix it.

What do you do about Dev?
>Let him go, his decision
>Tell him you need his help
>Talk to him about losing his parents
>Other (what?)
>>
And what’s your first task today?

Shee's To Do List:

1. Make contacts to sell the guns.
2. Activate psychic power (this pleases Jagganatha)
3. Check out the reunited leads (elite cop, the brawler, etc.)
4. Talk to Garrax (reunited)
5. Talk to Kae
6. Talk to Ash
7. Talk to Yonsul
8. Seek the favour of one of the Five (which?)
9. Explore the research facility (looking for what?)
10. Contact the Rebellion about a mission

>Or something else?
>>
>>37923075
We need to figure our where the Serec came in, check the skycycle deck first

Good point, but we still haven't checked the skycycledeck at all, this might be the simpler explaination..

Right, forgot about Yonsul, we can ask her about the raid.
>>
So, if I delete my post, it reduces the number of unique IPs, but doesn't re-add it when I post again?
The fuck?
>>
I think we should probably let Dev do his routine for now, let him sort things out for him self for a days time
>>
>>37923146
One the one hand, I agree with that idea.
On the other, he is a bit of a hothead, I don't want him to flip his shit at work because of having pent things up.
>>
>>37923069
>Offer him the job here
>4. Talk to Garrax (reunited)
>>
>>37923156
What job?
If we want to offer him a job, we need to talk to Ms Carter about what they could do.
And its rather inconvenient to have him work here, because it would mean needing to pull him out from work when we need him.
>>
>>37923155
If he loses his job, we could always support him financially, no biggie
>>
>>37923075
Does Titanic Form count as "physical transformation gift" for the purpose of Infectious Form?
>>
>>37923182
Losing his job isn't the only issue that could arise from him flipping his shit there.
And maybe he wants to keep his job and not be dependent on us?

Also, we can't actually financially sustain all four of us wih the restaurant income, Pally already confirmed that ages ago when we first talked about it.
>>
>>37923174
a job here.
those are both very good points.
>>
>>37923215
>a job here
Yes, as what? A restaurant offers a lot of potential positions, none of which he is very qualified for, unless we really need a mechanic.
And then the wage would cut significantly into our already slim profit.

>>37923075

Which reminds me, have you decided on how we can advance the Club Pally?
>>
>>37923184
Yes, but if given via Infectious Form it is permanent.

>>37923225
>Which reminds me, have you decided on how we can advance the Club Pally?

Not yet, still torn between you needing to spend money (since you have a huge stash of saleable gear) and using XP.

>Not yet, still torn between you needing to spend money (since you have a huge stash of saleable gear) and using XP.
I still favor the approach of dong both. Money to improve the "mundane" part, and peripherals for supernatural upgrades.
>>
>>37923225
what? give him a basic entry level job, you don't need qualifications for that. says a man who was never worked for or applied to work for a restaurant....
>>
“Dev” you say, he ignores you, still getting ready to go, you try again louder “Dev”.

“What?” he turns to you, looking tired, empty, like he just doesn’t care.

“You want to talk about it?” you offer

“No” he says, heading for the door.

“I think you should” you reply, putting a hand on his arm. He turns to face you slowly.

“There’s nothing to talk about” he says, looking down at you “I need to go to work, when you have a mission, let me know, I’m grateful for the bed and I’ll find somewhere to stay as soon as I can. Just, when you expect to kill some cops, let me know and I’ll be there.” His voice is quiet and he seems calm at least, for now.

>Ok fine (let him go)
>Dev, we’re not doing this to kill cops
>You really shouldn’t go to work

You will get to Yonsul later, just need to play this conversation out first.

Ah. What?

Thats about the only possible thing. And he would still need to be learned in in that, considering being a Duster.

>>37923303
There are already people doing these things, since this is afterall a functioning restaurant.
Waiter is possible because we have a high turnover with those anyway.
>>
>>37923271
>Dev, we’re not doing this to kill cops

Offer him a job here.

There's still the matter of where he's going to live now though.
>>
>>37923271
>Dev, we’re not doing this to kill cops
>Ok fine (let him go).
>>
>>37923303
Why are you so attached to the idea of giving him a job at the restaurant?

Just hire him as a freelancer unattached to the restaurant, then we don't have to worry about pulling him from work when we need him to do something.
>>
>>37923370
I'm not attached. I just though that the 3rd point that was brought up by >>37923225 was stupid and wrong.
>>
>>37923389
Except the point was completly correct, he is not qualified for food prep and or cleaning, he has no experience in any of those.
Not even sure what you mean with "back of house".
>>
>>37923404
I have to agree with this.
>>
Devs Int should be 13 in his Charsheet.
>>
>>37923404
You don't need experience to wash dishes/cut food. all it would be is them showing you how to do it and there you go, you're trained.
front of house is where the customers are, back of house is kitchen and stuff.
>>
>>37923445
>You don't need experience to wash dishes/cut food
I don't know how its in this setting, but usually you need a certificate to be allowed to work with foodstuff.
Which he would have to get first.
Second of all. They have already people doing that.
And third, you'd be surrpised how much you need to learn there, cutting food for the standards of a professional kitchen is something that takes a while to learn, even putting aside as Duster there is a good chance he has done neither in his life before.
>>
“If you want to go” you say to Dev “then I won’t stop you, but we’re not doing this to kill cops.”

Dev stares at you for a moment and then says “You mean, you’re not doing this to kill cops, Shee, but you don’t speak for me.” And then he leaves, slamming the door. Ah well, maybe he’ll listen to reason when he calms down.

With Dev gone, you, Rainya and Lirael clear up and then you send Yonsul a message requesting a meeting. She answers quickly, saying that she will be over at your restaurant soon. Yeah she might have been expecting a message from you...

“Rainya can you find something for you and Lirael to do for a while” you say “I need to talk to someone.”

“Sure” says Rainya, Lirael gives you a suspicious look and you can feel her telepathic touch on the edge of your thoughts, a quick glare puts a stop to that.
---
Sergeant Yonsul arrives looking tired, and she gratefully takes the coffee you offer her as the two of you talk in one of the restaurant private rooms.

“I know” she says, looking tired “I know ok, I only found out about the raid when it had already set off, and it’s this stupid task force thing, no one has any authority over it but the guy in charge, Captain Kulrathe and he’s taking orders from high up, like maybe the Governor himself, or his office at least.”

“I wasn’t accusing you” you say “I just wanted to hear what you can tell me about it.”
>>
>>37923465
fair enough
>>
The Sergeant looks...troubled “I don’t know what Kulrathe is thinking” she says “and most of this is just station chatter ok, cops gossip a lot. Kulrathe got a tip that there was some rebel leader, someone with *powerful abilities* with no clarification on psychic, champion, mage or whatever. And he arms his task force up with heavy gear, and goes in, leaving a trail of destruction and brings back dozens of *rebel* captives, but it’s clear they missed whoever they were going for, but here’s the thing. With the task forces clearance, they could easily ask the fae for one of their captured Soulless – who can negate all sorts of mystical abilities, but they didn’t. Instead they took an army instead.”

How do you respond?

>Tell me about Kulrathe

So, either Garrax told Kulrathe about us, which would make us ask how he knew we are with the rebels, or its just a unlucky coincidence.

Or Kulrathe found out by himself and the "tip" was his way of introducing the info.
>>
>>37923465

>>37923513
I guess it depends on where you are, and "possibly" they might do that here. But I doubt it, when it comes to these things, there is no point risking investigation for something so minor.
>>
>>37923484
>Where did the tip come from?

>>
>>37923507
Garrax too most likely.. (same person as parent)
>>
>>37923445
>>37923404
The argument is fairly moot anyway.
Dev got excellent mechanics skills now. He has good chances of earning his own money with that.
The only thing he needs is a place to live to be organized so the Duster thing isn't in the way of his chances.
>>
We need to ask Kae next time how these "Soulless" work.
>>
>>37923520
>there is no point risking investigation for something so minor.
three of our staff moonlight as prostitutes and it's likely we might launder money though this store at a later point.

I think the point of offering him a job was so he can make money but stand to miss a day or 5 when the boss lady needs him.
>>
>>37923535

We will have to warn him about that
>>
>>37923571
>three of our staff moonlight as prostitutes and it's likely we might launder money though this store at a later point.
Which was exactly my point, they won't risk that stuff being exposed through something as minor as a investigation in lacking certificates in the staff.
If you do shady stuff, ou want all your non-shady stuff to look as clean as possible.
>>
>>37923585
if we can hide the really shady stuff, we can hide something like lacking a fucking certificate.

“So who is Kulrathe anyway?” you ask

Sergeant Yonsul gives a disapproving frown “Jaochim Kulrathe” she says “is a glory-hungry asshole. He’s been promoted so often because he gets results – that’s why he’s in charge of this task force, but his *results* often have a high body count, for both sides. Still, he’s from the right family and has money and connections, so he gets to do whatever he damn well pleases. He also has a, I dunno, a way with people, even hating him after talking to him for five minutes he’ll have you believing he’s a great guy.”

“He must have got the *tip* from somewhere though” you say “one of his own informants maybe?”

Yonsul shakes her head “Kulrathe was never a street cop” she says “he doesn’t have informants, he has social contacts. I think one of his rich buddies gave him the nod. And I don’t think it was an excuse either, he really seemed angry that the big rebel they were after wasn’t there, still maybe someone lied to him” says Yonsul. This is sounding more and more like someone set him up to go after you...

“So if this rebel was a mage or something” you say “Why no Soulless?”

“I don’t know” says Yonsul thoughtfully “Kulrathe has the clout to request one, but didn’t, maybe he thought it would make it look too easy, he does love to look like a hero.”

“How so?” you ask

“Oh he likes to lead big raids from the front” says the Sergeant “Instead of being in the command centre on site he gets geared up and fights alongside his men, accounts for their loyalty towards him I suppose.”

“Right” you agree. Well that all sounds...suspicious.

“Anyway” says the Sergeant, “I just wanted to see if you were ok Shee.” Her hand twitches, reaching for you momentarily, then draws back.

“I’m fine” you say “I lost friends but, yeah, I’m fine.”
>>
>>37923702
Why just assume that? At least offer him the job first.
>>
“And I hate to ask this” adds the Sergeant “but the vampire bigwig, you find anything out yet?”

“Not yet” you say, guiltily recalling that the party is in only a few days, you really need to speak to Kae about that, soon.

“Well uh, keep me posted” says the Sergeant, draining her coffee and getting ready to go.

How do you respond? What do you trust the sergeant with?

>>
>>37923826
The problem with any shelter is, we would need to keep him there indefenitly, since his family isn't going to stop hunting him.
Putting him into the restaurant would be endangering the staff here and the restaurant, and I'm absolutely not willing to do that.
DustTown is an option, assuming he would agree to that.
The facility is pretty much the only place where we could store him safely for a longer time.

Thing is, the Five do give Gifts, magical ones, and some people buy into the idea, Garrax is one, and he told me about others, one of whom was a high-ranking cop, and Kulrathe...sounds like a follower of the King of Hell. So maybe this rebel” you pick your words carefully “could be one too, and Kulrathe didn’t ask for a Soulless because it could block his powers too.”

Sergeant Yonsul closes the door and looks at you carefully “You’re telling the truth” she says “I know followers of the Five sometimes have strange powers and yet it sounds crazy, but you believe what you’re saying, where can I find this Garrax?”

You give her the name and address of his establishment, which she writes down on a notepad in her pocket, hopefully you she won’t ask how you know him.

“How do you know this Garrax?” asks Yonsul, still staring at you intently. Ah dammit.

How do you respond?
>I just heard of him through church, no real connection
>I’m Reunited too
>Garrax saw me, and thought I was Reunited, I’m not, but I have a Gift from one of the Five

Going to the party ourselves is probably the only guaranteed why we could fuck this all up massively.

I don't think so, its less risky then other options by now, because it doesn't directly paint a target on our back. In difference to trying to hide Quinn.

He is really really dangerous and schemy. Take care, he might have mind altering powers.

It puts us right in the lion's den. How is that less dangerous than any of the other options?
>>
>>37924054
High risk, high odds. I say we do it.
>>
>>37924054
As I said. It doesn't make us directly a target.
And while we would be directly in the "lions den", this lion has vested interest to be on our good side currently.
Crimsonthorn has no interest in us getting pissed at him, since that would fuck up his plan with Kae. So possible mind-influence is the only real risk, which we could more than enough tools against now.
>>
>>37924054
Because we won't have a manhunt on our hands as a mandatory part of the aftermath and none of them will attack us outright at that point. We'll need to boost our Stealth, but otherwise, I think we have a good chance.
>>
>>37924064
And I say fuck that.
>>
>>37924078
We already got Deception 5. So our disguise and lying is pretty much as good as it can be.
And just think of all the Baalzamon Favor we could get for maneuvering the vampire high-society.

Tried to recruit you it is.

Please roll 1d20+10 to lie convincingly, 4 rolls needed

The lie will be when Yonsul asks you why and Shee has to BS her rather than reveal her powers.

It's more like medium risk, high reward, really.

>>37924072
>So possible mind-influence is the only real risk
Even that's not a big risk due to Royal Dominion and our extremely high Willpower.

>>37924089
Stealth is for when we have to go off the party's rails to get into the place they're keeping all the evidence of their wrongdoing, to counter the vampire's high perception modifiers.

Hopefully with her already knowing about our tentacles we can spin something for DC15.

“I was at his club with Kae” you say, no point in telling any lie that can be caught by video footage after all “I must’ve caught his eye, because he tried to recruit me into his organisation or whatever he’s building – that’s when he told me about the Reunited thing, and about some other Reunited he’d found.”

“Why’d he try to recruit you?” asks Sergeant Yonsul, staring at you with those hard cop eyes.

The excuse rolls easily off your tongue “He sensed that I’m not...normal somehow, he thought that made me a real Reunited, he claims he can sense other Reunited.”

Sergeant Yonsul just stares at you for a few moments as if expecting more, before saying “Ok, well, thanks for the lead, I’ll check him out, if you find anything else, let me know.”

“Right” you agree.

“And make finding out this vampires name a priority” says the Sergeant “I just told you a lot of stuff you shouldn’t know, so please, if you or Kae find out, call me straight away.”

“I will” you say, as you walk the sergeant to the door. Once she has gone, you ponder your next move, too many things to do and not enough time.

What’s next?

Shee's To Do List:

1. Make contacts to sell the guns.
2. Activate psychic power (this pleases Jagganatha)
3. Check out the reunited leads (elite cop, the brawler, etc.)
4. Talk to Garrax (reunited)
5. Talk to Kae
6. Talk to Ash
7. Talk to Yonsul
8. Seek the favour of one of the Five (which?)
9. Explore the research facility (looking for what?)
10. Contact the Rebellion about a mission

To clarify, extended conversations with Kae will either be in dreams, or by comm - which may be monitored.

Talk to Kae option sets up a meeting for tonight, whilst you do other stuff in the meantime.

>1. Make contacts to sell the equipment

I would still like to get to the brawler fast.
>>
>>37924356

Actually, Kae is our ticket via Quinn.
Thats why we need to talk to her first.
Then we talk to Ashley about that plan, so he knows whats up and can try to keep his grandpa away from us.
>>
Message to Kae and then talk to Tenley, ok.
>>
>>37924368
Quinn gets eaten. What do you think happens to his feeder?.. I'd rather go with ash
>>
Why don't we just rip the information we need right out of Quinn's head?
>>
>>37924381
>What do you think happens to his feeder?
Nothing. I doubt they care much.
Ash has the problem that he can't get around as free, nor can his Feeder.
Its Quinns house, afterall.

>>37924390
Because voters here are pansies.
Seriously, though, because it would fuck up Kaes attempt to investigate here. Crimsonthorn would find out we did, and he would know it went to Kae.
>>
>>37924400
Not if we killed him after we did it.
>>
>>37924381
Assuming Quinn does get eaten.
Going with Ash "might" be possible, assuming he is invited. Which he very likely isn't since this entire deal is something he family gets hold out of as he told us himself.

>>37924410
Thats possible, true.
>>
>>37924400
We could try and seek some of that desert sand unto Quinn as Kae suggested.

We can get our Bunny man to take us safely into the desert
>>
>>37924430
Don't we have to touch that to the vampire we're trying to identify?
>>
>>37924430
I'm pretty sure the month expired actually.
But yeah, we could try that. But it would require us to get into direct contact with two enormously powerful entities and not blow our cover.
Thats not good odds.
Especially since the whole things relies on the desert being able to find out everything about someone he touches.
So if he touches us...
>>
>>37924447
It seems to me literally any other option is safer than going to that party. There are so many ways that could go wrong.
>>
>>37924447
He might not care that much
also
wasn't it three months? I can't remember. Maybe we can explain the vamp bushiness to the bunnymen and they might help us anyway
>>
>>37924460
>There are so many ways that could go wrong.
Thats true for the others too, but as long as people keep being pussies about it and don't want to mindrape and dispose of Quinn, its actually the most reliable and safe for us personally.
>>
>>37924460
The desert sand option also requires going to the party, and then involves getting in the elder vampire's face as a bonus.
>>
>>37924477
You know, by this point, we should try the dream visit thing.
That sounds like the best option right now.
>>
>>37924485
Except it means Kae will probably be recalled.
>>
>>37924494
No it won't unless we fuck it up, which is about the least heavy consequence compared to the consequences of fucking any other option up.
>>
>>37924485
I'd be okay with trying that.

With Yonsul gone, you send a quick text to Kae’s comm., telling her you need to talk. She replies in the affirmative and says *soon* which you expect will mean tonight.

You spend some time with Rainya and Lirael, just talking for the rest of the morning, as well as hugging Rainya when she recalls the friends whose bodies she saw yesterday. You have her mostly cheered up by the time the staff start to arrive though. Firstly you introduce Rainya and Lirael to Ms Carter and let her know that they might be coming to visit from time to time. As Ms Carter is arranging for them to have their own keycards, you head down to the kitchen.

So far only Tenley and Gambon have arrived. Tenley glares at you and Gambon says “Good morning boss, feeling better?”

“I am yes” you say to Gambon “I wanted to talk to Tenley, if that’s ok?”

Gambon looks at Tenley, who gives a shrug and jabbers something, which Gambon translates as “Only if you don’t get in my way.”

“Thank you” you say, no reason to be rude after all “Ms Carter told me that Tenley does some work for the Hypia, I was wondering if he knew anyone that sells...certain things?”

Tenley gives you a suspicious look and replies, again Gambon translates “Are you buying or selling?”

“Probably both eventually” you say “But currently selling.”

“What have you got?” asks Tenley, again Gambon turns his nonsense into real speech.

“Weapons mostly” you say “Some robots and computers too.”

“I get a 10% finders fee and you don’t get stiffed on price” says Tenley “Or I introduce you to the buyer for free, but you negotiate your own price, understand? How much are you moving?”

Tenley doesn’t strike you as the sort who negotiates much.

How to do respond?
>10% cut is fine
>I’ll take the free introduction
>Other (what?)

How much are you moving?
>Just a few things, not much
>This is a big deal, maybe millions of credits worth
>Other (what?)
>>
>>37924485

>>
>>37924501
I thought she said she'd probably be recalled even if we don't fuck it up since there was no way to disguise the fact that we'd have to remove whatever block is in Quinn's mind that keeps the information secret in order to access it.
>>
>>37924657
There's no why for her to cover it up. With our help it might be possible.
>>
>>37924657
>I thought she said she'd probably be recalled even if we don't fuck it up
No. She said that about trying to shelter him unofficially. The "removing block" thing is only a problem if we want to get him to talk, or fuck with his mind.
I just re-read the segment to make sure.
>>
>>37924657
>>37924677

>>
>>37924684

>>
>>37924683
>The "removing block" thing is only a problem if we want to get him to talk, or fuck with his mind.
And the dream visit doesn't entail that in any way? How are we going to get the information then, if he can't talk about it in the dream and we can't access that part of his mind?

>>37924677
Maybe, I'm not sure if any of our powers can do that, it seems like something we'd need a peripheral for - implanting a non-Deathblock memory guard.
>>
>>37924657
You confused that. She said if we get discovered, the elder vamp will definitly cancel his trip and she "might" be recalled.
So the worst thing that could happen from fucking dream visit up, is her getting "maybe" getting recalled.
Which is definitly better than the risks of all other plans.
>>
“A 10% cut is fine” you say to Tenley “for now I’m only selling a few things, we’ll see how it goes from there.”

“Alright” says Tenley (or rather, Gambon says) “Tomorrow, after work I’ll take you to them.”

“Thank you” you say to Tenley, to Gambon you add “I take it that you’ll be coming with?”

Gambon laughs “No” he says “Tenley can understand you fine, and he can speak a real language, he just chooses not to.”

Tenley comes out with an extended stream of gibberish directed at both you and Gambon.

“I’m not translating that” says Gambon, grinning, there’s a young lady present.”

Tenley then actually speaks words you understand, though you wish you didn’t. You flee the kitchen as Tenley makes dire treats to Gambon, who laughs them off. You don’t think what Tenley was suggesting was physically possible, but the next time you see a pineapple or razor, that mental image is going to return.

You meet up with Rainya and Lirael, now both proud owners of door passes. It’s still mid-morning. What now?

Shee's To Do List:

1. Activate psychic power (this pleases Jagganatha)

Kinda, but plotting something you want to hide from the Fae and having no protections against it being found out through the realm which the Fae are masters of seems pretty stupid. If he does have Oneira defenses, hopefully they're something like our Oceanic Dream ability that we can overpower/ignore without tipping anyone off.

>>
>>37924791
>and having no protections against it being found out through the realm which the Fae are masters of seems pretty stupid
Quinn was most likely not meant to know at all. Really nothing prevents us from mindraping it out of him, if we were sjust interested in the info itself.
And the trick with Oneira is, that we would need to get him to tell us willingly in the dream.
So it takes far more subterfuge than plain ripping it from his mind.
>>
>>37924815
Thats exactly why we need to find the Brawler fast, so we have a chance of getting to him before Garrax can.
And its harder for Garrax to get to him, since a Jaggantha follower won't be as inclined to scheming as the police dude.
>>
>>37924815
I forgot nothing, don't make assumptions.

It's entirely possible he hasn't, in which case the Brawler is our last chance at gaining a Reunited ally and further unbalancing this fight.

A trap is just a slaughter where the victims think they'll live.
>>
With Lirael and Rainya in tow you head back down to the kitchen where Gambon and Tenley are setting up. Tenley gives you all a glare that you think it just his default expression. Tenley mutters something to Gambon just as he’s turning to greet you and Gambon bursts out laughing, before taking a moment to compose himself and then asks again “Yes Boss?”

“I was wondering” you say to Gambon “if you know where I could find any of the street fighters we talked about the other day?”

Gambon looks thoughtful “Not personally no” he says “my agent Rick might be able to, but he’ll want to know why, I mean, he’ll help if he can, but he’ll probably call their fight agents, who will *need* to know why before setting up a meeting or anything. And which do you want to find?”

Who do you need to talk to?

That doesn't mean he can't be it, but makes it seem less likely to me.
>>
>>37925042
Yeah, I see where you are getting at, but we might as well include him
>>
“I need to speak to Donni and Breaker” you say “tell them its about a guy named Garrax, they’ll know what it means.”

“Ok boss” says Gambon genially “I’ll just finish getting the ovens warmed up, and then I’ll make a quick comm. call, I gotta say though, Donni has no known backer, and Breaker does underhive fights – many of those guys don’t have agents. Still, Rick might be able to get word to them, we’ll see, I’ll let you know as soon as he has something.”

“Thanks” you say “by the way, what did Tenley say?”

Gambon looks a little abashed “he ah, he was admiring the appearance of your friend” he indicates Rainya “A harmless compliment, I’m sure.”

“And a literally translation would be?” you ask, looking at Gambon a little suspiciously.

“Meaningless to anyone without experience in a kitchen or butchers shop” says Gambon with a sigh “look, you need to know how to work a carcass to get the reference, he was ah, lets just say he was admiring how well endowed the young lady was in the ah, chest area, as well as the tops of the legs, he just didn’t say it like that, it’s just his sense of humour, he didn’t mean any harm.”

You feel a pang of jealousy as well as admiration, True, Rainya does have well-formed hips and breasts but still...

Rainya looks embarrassed, Lirael looks confused, Gambon a little rueful and Tenley grins at Rainya and gives her a cheery wave...with a hand holding a meat cleaver.

“That’s all for now” you say, leaving with Rainya and Lirael in tow.

“Shee did Tenley just say he wants to cut my-” starts Rainya

“It’s best not to think about it” you say, desperately thinking of something else to distract the three of you.

In fact, if I go full shadowrun, they might want to spread the idea of that plan, to make the rebellion stage a uprising so they can come down on the DustTowns.

“I need to speak to the rebels” you tell Rainya and Lirael once you’re in private “I’m going to need to make the call outside the Hive just in case. I’ll be back in an hour ok.”

“Ok” says Rainya, Lirael pouts and adds “fine”, putting an arm around Rainyas waist she adds “we better be included in whatever you end up doing though.”

“If I can, I will” you say diplomatically.

The bus ride out is at once nostalgic, and strange, as if you’re going to a foreign place. You don’t stop close to home, well, close to where you used to live anyways. Instead you pick a location at random and head there, before firing up your comm. once you’ve got through security you keep bugging whoever is answering the comms until they put Six on the line.

“What is it Hyul?” asks Six abruptly

“It’s about” you cough “It’s about the police raid, we-”

“I know” says Six, in a slightly softer voice “We know, and I’m sorry for your loss, if you want to get back at those bastards, I have just the plan.”

“What do you mean?” you ask, a little concerned.

“One of the police stations” says Six “has a few flaws in their security, getting lax I guess, we were planning a raid to hit the place to steal information, but I can give you the details...so you can blow it up. You’ll need to find your own explosives though.”

“What?” you say, a little shocked at that “Just blow up a police station, I mean, is this the one the raid was launched from or something?”

“Oh no” says Six “Unconnected. The ones where the task force is have really tight security. But still, cops are cops.”

“Do you have anything else?” you ask a little desperately.

“Suited to your talents?” says Six doubtfully “Hmm, lets see, ah here we are, we have reports the Fae are setting up a new chaoswell in your area, it’s primed and ready to manifest, but needs aspecting, got bogged down in a legal challenge, but now its been resolved.”
>>
“Chaoswells” you rack you brain “Aren’t those pools of magical energy or something, mages draw on them for power?”

“Right” says Six “They built this one to grow crops and for farmland, its about a hundred miles from Hive 39 up in the hills, something to do with making plants and animals grow really fast, I think some other fae wanted it to be a gateway of some kind, but the original owner won the argument. There’s mages there right now finishing it, could take a few days.”

“Any guards?” you ask

“Probably a few dozen” says Six casually “and the owner is rich, so they’ll have top of the range gear I expect.” Hmm, that doesn’t sound too easy...

“Why me?” you ask

“Because we asked our other psychics” says Six “and their answers ranged from “*No thank you* to *Go jump in a fire*, to really nix this chaoswell a psychic or mage needs to disrupt it, which can be fatal to ordinary mortals” he adds as an afterthought “So they’ll have a least one fae noble with them for the finale, might not be today though, work schedule estimates another 3 days, but who knows?”

“Anything else?” you ask

“Nothing in your area right now” says Six “Unless you want to make your own trouble.”

Yeah, thanks for thinking of me, you asshole, you keep that to yourself. What do you do?

True, we need to look at it still. I'm hoping we can hurt his credibility by causing lots of trouble. Maybe spray paint a big resistance symbol on the precinct just before we leave if there is time?

>>37925816
We don't want anyone to know we've been in that place, otherwise that might devalue some of the info we get.

“How about we do the raid for information” you say “I’m no slouch with computers after all, and it saves you a job.”

“Really?” says Six, sounding a little surprised “Alright, if you want to, the station is on Level 10 and the address is...”

Six relays the details to you.

“So let me get this straight” you say “This place isn’t actually a police station, its archives, where evidence is stored as well as electronic records, including, and I quote *an off-the grid server in the basement* that you admit you don’t know what info it holds, but you want a copy of everything on it.”

“That’s right” says Six

“And the alarm system is faulty and reboots itself for 20 minutes at 1:03am every day, meaning if someone got in and out during that time their presence would not be noted, have I got everything?”

“I think that’s it, yes” says Six

“Is there any chance this will help me find who was in the raid on Dust Town?” you ask “So I can go after the real perpetrators?”

“Yes” says Six “As a special task force outside of the usual chain of command this Kulrathe guy will need to file electronic reports regularly, including the list of the taskforce members, these are automatically copied to archives.” Ah finally, something useful.

“Tell me about the chaoswell too” you say “I’m not planning to hit it, but just in case.”

Six gives you the location “Not much we know other than that” he says, almost apologetically “We only found out about it recently ourselves.”

“Before I go” you say, “There’s something else you need to know” You outline what you heard about the war forges starting up again.

“Right” says Six grimly “we thought this would happen one day, thanks, I’ll look into it.” And then he hangs up on you.

Unbelievable asshole, wanting you to blow up a bunch of old retired cops watching the archives house, probably civilians there too.

You head back to the bus stop.

+10 for Shadow of the Depths2/Darkness2 would make a huge difference, that true.

Shadows of the Depths 2 isn't called an Illusion. I don't think SotD 3 is an illusion either, just the 'mimicking another person/animal/object' part.

I don't like the 'everyone in the Hive can see through our powers' mentality that seems to have taken root.

Hacking and standing guard as not to get jumped are hard to do at the same time

That was my point, thats why I would have preferred them over using the Illusion ability the anon I replied to recommended.

I don't expect them to see through all our abilities, but straight up psychic illusions are something I would expect there to be measures against.

After getting back to the restaurant you collect Lirael and Rainya and teleport back to the research facility.

“More treasure hunting?” says Lirael “boooring!”

“We could all do with some better armour” you point out to her.

“Or you just want to help Rainya into some” says Lirael. You resist the urge to spank the winged terror, as Rainya looks faintly embarrassed.

“Lets get moving” you say.
---
After an hour of searching you come across an unlocked door labelled *Skycycle Bay*. Recalling that there might be serec hear, the three of you search the place carefully but don’t find anything threatening.

What you do find are several dozen motorcycles, all with some sort of retractable wings, and with hover engines and manoeuvring jets.

“Shee are these, flying motorcycles?” asks Rainya “I mean, that sounds kinda dangerous.”

“It’s just skycycles” says Lirael “Are you saying you don’t have them here?”

You shake your head “This is a new one to me.”

“Huh, well, whatever” says Lirael, then she points suddenly at a large boxy structure “Look there’s a sim trainer, you could use it to learn how to fly one.”

“That sounds fun don’t you think Shee?” says Rainya “And they could come in handy for transport.”

What do you do?

“We can use the sims later” you tell your allies “right now, armour is our top priority.”

You spend the rest of the afternoon, wandering through the facility but you find no more locked vaults or anything of interest. Eventually its around the time that Dev normally gets back from work, and you’re all tired and hungry.

“Can we go back for tea now?” asks Lirael plaintively, for the...well you’ve lost count of how many times she has asked that.

“Just 5 more minutes” you promise. And then, turning the corner, you see a much larger vault door than normal, labelled “Armour, force shields, and personal power armour.”

“Finally” mutters Rainya, before adding in a more normal tone “Shee can we at least go get something to eat before you try to crack it.”

“But, but I’ve been looking for this for days!” you say “And it’ll only take...oh” you look at the security panel, its very different from the ones you’ve been opening so far, and the doors look sturdier. A quick check with your psychic senses reveals a strong response, teleportation probably won’t work here either.

“Food first” you agree “then we come back.”

You all teleport back to your restaurant and ask for some food to be sent up. No sooner than you have done so, then Dev is bought up to the residence, one arm over Gambons shoulder, as Gambon supports his weight.

Dev looks...like shit. Both his eyes are black, his face is puffy and bruised and bleeding. When Gambon lowers him into a chair it’s clear that he can’t even stand on his own. His hands are covered in dried blood and his knuckles are bleeding.

“What happened?” you ask, as you Rainya and Lirael crowd around him.

“He just stumbled in” says Gambon “One of the waitressed recognised him and I thought it best to bring him up.”

“Thank you Gambon” you say, and then you address Dev “what happened?”

“Mfine” slurs Dev, bleeding from his mouth as he does so “Just, stuff.”

“What stuff?” you say as you lay hands on him, his injuries fade as he talks “Just work, tried to ignore it but some of them kept talking.”

“Who?” you ask, taking a wet towel from Rainya to wipe block and filth of Dev “Talking about what?”

“Other workers” clarifies Dev “at work, some are dusters, some hivers, they were talking about, about, about the thing, and some of the Hivers said it was good what happened to the Dusters, fewer people stealing and I” he pauses, tearing up a little “And I told them my parents had died and they didn’t care Shee, they just didn’t care, one guy said that was two less dusters to steal his tax money.”

Ah, you can guess what happened next.

“So I’ve got no job no more, no family, nothing” says Dev, as the last of his injuries fade he just sits there and sobs quietly.

Gambor is a chef. Ask Ms Carter if you want to find a job for him, not the freaking chef.
That makes no sense.
>>
I'm kinda surprised no one wants to go after the assholes who said that shit about Dev's parents and beat him up.
>>
>>37926990
We're the boss. He'll work where we say he works if he wants the job.
>>
>>37926998

Was not a direct choice, yet.

So it tends to get lost, I would support it however.
>>
>>37926998
Because they didn't beat him up. He got in a brawl. Thats completly different.
>>
>>37926990
He's a chef and a brawler. I was thinking more about the latter. Not that he couldn't stand to learn some cooking skills on the side as well.
>>
>>37927016
And as the boss we should ask the person who knows what he can work in. Not just randomly assign him somewhere because we're too lazy to properly think about it.

>>37927018
A brawl he started nonetheless. Not unrightly so, but still.
>>
>>37927018
Multiple guys on one after they provoked him intentionally. That's less a brawl and more a measured mugging.
>>
>>37927045

No one came after him. They talked shit, and he punched them for it.
>>
>>37927045
Nah man. He got pissed at them and attacked them, of course they would fight back.
Don't be silly. He started a brawl, and given his physical stats, the other guys look most likely worse than him.
>>
>>37927061

They deserved to be smashed in by his 20 strength regardless.

Bet even after they beat him up, they were trying to figure out the truck that hit them.
>>
>>37927090
No one says they didn't. Its just not something we need to follow up on. He was perfectly capable of fighting that one on his own.
>>
Rainya and Lirael don’t need much direction as you hug Dev tightly, they come up at either side and hug him too as he cries. Hesitantly he tries to hug all three of you back.

“Forget those assholes” you say to Dev “and don’t be silly, you do have family – you have us.” This prompts a fresh bout of tears from Dev and he hugs you tighter. Its several minutes before you all break apart and in that time Gambon has quietly retreated.

“Thanks” says Dev, wiping his eyes “sorry about this Shee, I was just, I was so angry I don’t know what came over me.”

“Don’t apologise” you say “my only regret was that I wasn’t there to help you kick everyone’s asses.”

Dev gives a snort “Thanks Shee” he says “That means a lot.”

“We’ve ordered some food up” you say to Dev “If you’re quick you can have a shower before it gets hear, what do you want to eat?”

“Anything” says Dev, hauling himself out of the chair and heading for the bathroom “just hot, and lots of it.”

Once Dev has had his shower and the food has arrived, you all settle down to eat. You explain to everyone about the police station, the rebellions plans, and also about the chaoswell.

“That sounds suspicious” says Rainya “A whole computer of secret info that Six says he doesn’t know what it is, but he wants it anyway?”

“It could be he thinks its important because its kept off the Wire” you say “But yeah, suspicious.”

“I’m not sure I like the rebellion” says Dev “I joined to help people, and they wanted you to kill a bunch of old cops and regular people? That’s wrong.” You refrain from mentioning that just this morning he wanted to kill some cops.

Then Lirael chimes in “This one time” she says “My mum told me about this mage who stole a chaoswell from a fae but couldn’t take it with him and tried to drain all its powers because he thought he could handle it but then he explodes!” She emphasises her story by throwing her arms wide.
>>
Rainya gives her a worried look “Shee” she says “You don’t think Six wants you to try and drain the chaoswell and have it kill you do you?”

“Maybe” you say, though you can just imagine how much Jagganatha would approve of that level of risk/reward.

“So” says Dev, around a mouthful of food “What’s the plan?”

You could rest up for the mission tonight, go back to crack the vault, or do something else.

And later, you could go alone, take your allies, or put the police archive infiltration off for now.

The power of the Ichor in the Depths flows through you, transforming you...

You can pick 1 of 4 Gifts

Blood Control – gain 2 ranks in Blood Control

Blood Control 2 adds the following ability:
Corrosive Blood Spray: Whenever you are injured with a non-energy-based melee attack your blood sprays your attacker. You can affect anyone who attacks you in melee and deals 1 or more hip points of damage to you with Corrosive Blood. This lowers the cost of increasing the damage of Corrosive Blood to 2 psychic points per 1d6 additional points of damage.
Blood Control 3 adds the following ability:
Toxin Resistance: Your unusual blood makes you more resistant to poisons and diseases. You add your Favour of Ichor in the Depths rating to any Constitution check to resist poisons or disease.

Tentacles – Gain 2 Ranks in Tentacles plus 6XP worth of tentacle peripherals (players choice, chosen after vote)

Corpse Eater
The Mirror can reflect a thing, but by eating something, the Ichor can become it.
This power allows you to change your physical appearance into that of another. You are a true physical copy of the target and can pass fingerprint, retina analysis and even DNA tests, but you gain none of the targets knowledge.
Magic that reveals true forms cannot pierce this disguise, though mind-reading or questioning may.
However whilst in this form all of your physically oriented magical abilities (transformations, tentacles, even Might or Durability powers) are unusable.
Only dead creatures are valid targets for this power and you must consume a mouthful of their flesh. Once you have learned a creatures form, you can resume it any time later on.
This power costs 10 Psychic energy points and lasts for 24 hours, or until you end it.
You may only use this power on humans and animals.
>>
Corpse Eater (cont)
Higher levels allow you to: Resume the form of living creatures after eating their flesh, or even just touching them; use this power or other creatures such as fae or serec; gain the knowledge of those whose form you have taken; gain the powers of those whose form you have taken; still use your own physical powers whilst wearing anothers shape.

Resilient Fluid Body
Your body appears to be less flesh, and more flesh-coloured liquid. By spending 8 Psychic energy points you activate this power for 10 minutes.
Whist active you gain damage reduction equal to three times your Willpower modifier, against physical (non-energy) damage only.
When struck your whole body simply flows with the blow, before resuming its natural shape, even blades pass through your flesh without harm.
Needless to say, this power is obviously unsettling if you take any damage whilst using it.
This does not have later levels, though it is a prerequisite for some other Gifts.

You head out to the vault, taking all your allies with you, after all, regardless who is going with you on the mission, you want to get everyone armour.

At the vault you examine the lock, yeah this could take some time.

“Are you going to pick that?” Says Dev “Because I think that type of lock is supposed to be a really tough one?”

What are you going to do?

>Break the doors
>Pick the lock (with Devs help?)
>Teleport in

Resilient Fluid Body

Or more tentacles..
>>
>>37927962
Blood Control is inferior to Tentacles in this context as we can get both via XP but Tentacles would give us a higher raw XP value (12 XP total compared to 10).

Corpse Eater is gross.

Resilient Fluid Body is fairly powerful and I'm curious as to what Gifts it would be a prerequisite for. It's also a one-rank Gift, which is a positive given that our current issue is having too many cool things to buy.

>Pick the lock (with Devs help?)
hmm, lets lockpick it
>>
>>37928016
>Break the doors
>Titan! Shee Hyulk!
>>
>>37927962
Hm, so resilient Fluid Body is very useful if it ever comes to a high powered fight with anything, since a DR of 39 is enormous.
Blood Control is only really worth it if we plan on getting Infectious Form
So. either Fluid Body, or even more tentacles.

>>37928016
>Pick the lock (with Devs help)
>Enhance Senses
Lets geek out together
>>
>>37927962

Both corpse eater and Resilient fluid body are awesome.

Fluid body lets Shee gain currently 39 more DR for 10 minutes to melee damage.

Also opens up other gifts, which may be amazing.

Corpse eater later on would let us assume other forms, just on a touch and powers.

Potentially amazingly powerful, with investment.

>>37928034

Corpse eater is currently gross, although later levels make it less so.
>>
>>37928016
>>Pick the lock (with Devs help?)
It's kinda stupid that the guns are easier to get into than the armor which is overall far less dangerous than the guns.
>>
>>37928016
>Pick the lock (with Devs help)

Tentacles or resiliant body...tough call.
>>
>>37928016
>Break the doors
Damn, these gifts.

Corpse eater and Fluid Body are really good, but Fluid Body is better for a fight. Probably not compatible with Jagganatha's Hyulk form. CE seems more geared for infiltration, or for info gathering after leveled up.

She Hulk. Really? Pally did you plan this? >>37928016

I'm all for Resilient Fluid Body, it might be immensely useful if we get to fight Garrax or the streetfigher

39 more DR to *physical* damage.

That would include railguns, slug-throwers, etc.

Might be incredibly useful depending on how anti-magic weaponry actually works.
>>
>>37928136
Garrax is likely to have fire power from King, still jaggie's boy would be in trouble unless he's the light guy.

A lot, against this one particular form of damage.

39 isn't even that much damage, we could deal twice that with our slug-thrower by investing 12 XP into Focus feats, if not more, I haven't run the numbers. And then Explosive rounds doubles it and then Sniper can double *that* - my point is it's not really broken, just high-tier.

>>37928499
I was. I rolled a 1 there too.
