"What was it ye wanted to show me 'ere?"
"Shh."

Charlotte, Gallete's princess, leads you down to the dungeon of the castle. She took your attention away from the crowd upstairs in order to show you something interesting downstairs. What that is, you're not certain yet.

You are Jack Albator, kidnapped vagrant from another world turned into this world's greatest hero! As long as you're flexible with the definition of 'hero', that is. The last few days have been extremely stressful. First Camille disappeared, which is never good when members of your crew mysteriously vanish. Then after that, your kingdom was attacked by another hero working for someone mysterious. None of these are good ways to start your week.

Things are looking up, fortunately. Today you defeated a cell of soldiers who invaded your kingdom and rescued Camille! If that wasn't good enough, you also took a short detour and armed yourself with even more potent magical weaponry shortly afterwards.
Then, less than an hour ago, the same person who armed you tried to teach you a very rigorous and difficult type of magic. Results were less than stellar, and you're not even that certain you're going to stick with it all that long. After a very impressive demonstration that caused your teacher to faint, you were led inside to be greeted with Camille's welcoming party fawning over her. Except Atsuko, she was more crying than fawning.

But, that aside, you have important hero business to attend to down here, right?

You and Charlotte come to the prison cell where the rogue hero is being held. Several guards stand outside of the cell. As well as two other figures.

"Annetta, Amaretti." Charlotte politely greets the two princesses as you approach.
"Jack! Charlotte!" Amaretti, the princess of Pastillage, seems to brighten.
"Hi." Anna, the princess of Bruschetta, seems to be angry about something.

Inside the cell, the rogue hero is resting in Yuuki's lap. Yuuki is very talented with children. Which is good because someone has to be.

Yuuki's ward, Anna, looks at the scene and turns away with a "Hmph!", seems someone is showing a little jealously.

"Come on, tell us again what you're afraid of." Yuuki manages a voice so soft and serene that you would mistake it for the soothing voice of a mother in an instant.

"mm." The captive hero mumbles, "I miss Greta. I hope she's okay."

--

"So, who's 'Greta'?"
All the princesses are upstairs now, and seated in what seems to be large meeting room. Tuile, who still seems upset with you, sits at the end and tries to not look so glum.

"We haven't heard from her in many, many years. She's the princess of Konditorei, so most likely she's the person who summoned that hero." Charlotte acts like the adult at the table.
Anna puts on a more worried tone, "I haven't heard from Greta since I was, like, four or something."

Amaretti, the oldest of all the princesses you've met so far, speaks up.
"When we were all much younger, Greta's father got on this paranoid kick about keeping his family secure. Then, Greta disappeared. That was the last time we ever heard from her. She never wrote or responded after that. It was like she was gone."

>"I don't care."

"Okay, then whars the plan?"

Charlotte assumes the leader role, "Well, so the hero can survive, we need to find Greta again and soon."
"That's it? That's yer plan? Find the princess?"
"I guess so, I mean we have to do that anyway, right?"

"That's not what I meant, Princess. Surely ye can do some diplomacy hocus pocus or use a spy or somethin' to at least convince 'er father to talk to us, right?"
"We.. don't have spies in Konditorei."

Oh, you see what this is.
"So.. is this some kinda way to ask me to rescue 'er?"
"Well. I- I don't know. I don't even know where she is. "
"Not sure if that's a good idea anyway, considerin' I've been spending a fair while away from this kingdom I'm supposed to be protectin' already.

"Well.. Then I guess we don't have a plan just yet. We'll have to think about it."

That's your cue!
"Okay, let me know when you girls find a plan, I'm going to go get my spirits up."
"Uh, Jack? I think that is our plan!"
"Keep thinkin' Lass, because it's not a very good plan."

Considering how much you wrecked this bar yesterday, they sure managed to rebuild it fast.

It's almost sunset, and the evening patrons are starting to file in. This time, a guard stands on watch by the door and only lets people enter one at a time. Fortunately, you were able to beat the crowd and get a seat at your favorite table.

A cloaked figure is one of the first admitted into the bar. They walk around the room in a huge circle before making a beeline straight for your table.
The mystery person sits down at the table and lets her hood slip slightly, revealing her brown hair and pointed ears.

>"Barhopping again, Princess?"
>"Did ye girls come up with a plan?"
>"Or are ye here to talk about something else?"
>"What is bothering you so much, anyway? I'm away all of the time, and only now you start to care about where I go?"

"So." You lean back in your chair, "Did ye girls come up with a plan yet?"

Silence, she continues to sit and stare at the table.
"Or are ye just barhoppin' again?"

More silence, but this time she folds her hands onto the table.
"Or are ye here to talk about somethin' else?"

She fidgets with her hands, just as the barmaid brings several drinks over.
"You know that's why I'm here."
"Of course, Lass. Yer here to give me a righteous talkin' to, I suppose."

"That's not it at all!" Her gloved fist pounds the table.
"Then what is it, Lass?"

She pouts, crossing her arms and taking a hard drink from her glass.
"You still don't get it?" She takes another drink. "Why don't we get along as well as Yuuki and Anna, or Charlotte and Louise?!"

"...Because I'm always busy doing things, Lass. I'm the only one captainin' the hero ship, here."
"That's right! You're always busy doing things! And I never know what and you never even bother telling me!" Her tiny fist slams the table again. "Anna and Charlotte got heroes who spend all the time they want with them, and tell them where they're going to go and what they're going to do! You're my hero, why can't we be like that!?"

>"So yer jealous, Lass?"

She has a point. We never have done those kind of things with her.

We need some sort of bonding activity. Like going back to the beach to that old fort for exploring. Or teaming up as princess and hero and saving that other princess

"So, yer jealous Lass?"
"No!"

You can't help but laugh.
"But ye still care, right?"
No response.

You take a drink,
"The reason I never tell ye these things is 'cause I didn't know ye cared, Lass. Or that you even cared that you had a hero. All I've done since coming here is act like a hero, and I'm not sure I've ever seen you act like a princess."
"I can change that!" She nearly bolts from her chair.

"-Let me finish, Lass. Ye didn't summon me, the other princesses did for theirs. Though I never thought ye to be the jealous type."
She blushes, but tries to avoid eye contact.

"Ye gotta remember, before I came here I was use to reportin' to no one unless I'm servin' on a ship instead of captainin' it."

She continues to look extremely guilty.

"..Were ye wantin' to be like a 'Captain', Lass?"
She puts her glass down, "I don't really know what that means or entails.."

"It means Lass," You take a drink as well, "Where I go, you go. And vice versa. Ye would no longer be my princess. Ye'd be part of my crew!"

"I.. that sounds good!" Her tail is very visibly wagging under her hooded cloak.
"Now listen Lass, bein' in a crew isn't free. It requires work and diligence, 'cause when someone in a crew slacks off, others can die."

You take a drink, those words hit a bit closer to home than you'd like to admit.

"Uh!"
She looks visibly nervous, but holds herself together.
"I'm serious about changing! What do I need to do first?!"

"First. No member of my crew has ever not known how to fight! Ye should think of somethin' that'll at least keep yerself out of danger."

That clearly causes her spirit to sink like a brick. You're not sure she's ever thought about fighting in her life.

>"Hey! Fritelli is downstairs in your home with a fully-loaded armory with every weapon in your dreams, you have no excuse!"

Ask if she had to fight, what are her preferences. Like does she wish to stay at a distance, to which guns/magic would most likely be best

"Well hang on Lass." You try to cheer her up, "Ye never even tried fightin' before, right?"
"No.." She says, pouting. "No, I took a class in military strategy when I was younger, but I just kind of wing it when it comes to commanding in wars and I was told fighting was best left to the knights."

Her tail has slumped down again, but this time it's slowly slid out from under her cloak. And it's juuust within arms reach.

"Wh-HEY!"
She notices a little too late, you've already grabbed it and rustled it the wrong way.

"Jaaack..."
"Aw Cheer up a little, Lass! I'm not used to seeing you look so glum." You shake her tail a bit before letting it go. "Ye have your own well-defended nation to draw on training and resources; surely ye have something ye'd want to practice?"

"Uh." She thinks on that for a minute.
"Think about something yer already good at! You could even get an emblem and learn how to do that stuff, or maybe learn that voodoo Lynneth is teaching while she's here!"

She seems a little conflicted.
"Ask yerself Lass, what would ye want to do if ye had to fight? Use a sword? A gun?"
"Well.. I've never used either so-"

"-So ye have no excuse, Lass! Fritelli has an entire armory at the base of your home. And she'd gladly train you if you asked 'er. I'm not asking ye to carry our crew, but ye need to be ready if ye get into a fight."
"I don't know, I've just never really been good at anything but running away."

"'ey Lass, that's perfect! Most people who use guns just run away and shoot 'em. Besides, think of it this way-"
You lean over the table, her eyes immediately dart up toward yours.
"If ye become an adventurer, that means ye don't have to stay at home and avoid the princess stuff ye hate so much."

Somewhere, deep in her eyes, it's as if a brilliant torch was lit.
"Okay."
"Okay what, Lass?"
She jumps up and grabs your hand. "I'll do it! I'm going to join your crew someday!"

"That's great, Lass!" You grab her hand back. "Ye decide what yer gonna do?"
"No but, I'll learn what it is! That's enough, right?!"

"Nah Lass, I'm serious when I say that ye need to change."
"-and I can do that! I can still change!"

You laugh and sit back down, lifting your mug.
"Hey, How about a drink to change?"
"To-"
She thinks it over for a second.
"To change!"

The rest of the night seems to pass like a blur. First with one drink, then two, then five.

--

Then-
"Hey Jack?"
You open your eyes to see the ceiling of the shrine. And your head is resting on a long reptile-skin pillow.
"Last night you were kinda hammered, you said you needed to go somewhere in the morning?" Madeleine says, seemingly a little too comfortable with you laying on the bottom half of her body.

"Somewhar, in the mornin'. Six-o clock. Erm"
Oh yeah!
"Yer right Lass, I do have to be somewhere! "

Okay, sorry yet again for another slow night. I was hoping to get further than we did, but moving and everything is kind of putting me behind.
Thanks everyone for participating today.

I'm not sure how next week is going to work out. That is because it's the first week at my new place and I have no idea how my work schedule will end up. If dates and times have to change, I'll let everyone know.

Thanks everyone, I hope you enjoyed today's thread!
