>It's not yours anymore if you're dead.

Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Lolis, Killers, Explorers, Robbers.

YOU ARE LOLI,

And you are not where you're supposed to be. Actually, you're not sure where you are at all now, but you're pretty sure it's not where you're supposed to be.

Last you recall, you were near the Skadovsk, playing Hide and Seek with Vasa. And losing. Half an age spent searching did yield some results however, leading you to follow her through a narrow and barely noticeable hole in the ground. Those have never been bad for you.

Your reasoning tells you that means you should be under ground now, but the dark and densely packed forest around you is completely defying your expectation, as is the brightly shining full moon above you. Wasn't it day time just before?

And more importantly, if Vasa is really hiding here then that's not fair at all! How are you supposed to search an entire forest?

[ ]Nothing else to it, start searching for tracks.
[ ]Call out to her, this is clearly cheating.
[ ]Look for a way back, this isn't fun anymore.

Nuh uh, this isn't fair at all! Searching this place in the dark will take ages and she's already too good at the game.

"Vasa-nee, come out!" You call out. "This is cheating so let's just go back and start over!"

She doesn't respond. Maybe she didn't hear you? You'll have to call even louder!

"VASA! This isn't fun, come out or I'll tell Kris!"

Immediately your instincts light up at the sound of footsteps just a short distance behind you. You turn on the spot, bringing Empy to bear against the unseen presence. Nothing.

You would be wondering, if your thoughts weren't interrupted once again by the sound of a single gunshot in the distance from your left. The opposite of the direction the... something was moving in. Vasa?

Then, from your right, a young girl's screams blast through the woods for just a second before falling silent. Vasa?!

[ ]Go left, in the direction of the gunshot.

As you consider your options, the reasonable and logical voice inside of you begins yelling at you.

"What are you doing, Loli? Don't just stand there, you're completely exposed!"

Right. You know that, being exposed is bad and gets you shot. Immediately you duck to your left to take cover behind a tree. Having silenced the angry voice in your mind, which you've begun to notice sounds a lot like Vasa, you're free to carefully scan the location.

You see no real distinguishing features, the forest seemingly being just that and little more. The trees are closely spaced, you could probably cover the distance between each in a single leap, and most of them are wide enough to conceal your entire width. The ground beneath you reflects this, being largely covered in fallen foliage and branches. You'll have to be careful if you want to move silently, but so would anyone else.

And that's all you need, as you hear a gentle rustling of leaves just a few trees ahead. Peeking your head out, you can just make out the figure of a man walking past at a slow pace as he looks about himself frantically.

>Target acquired. Point and shoot.
>Close the distance, use your stabbers.
>Keep the distance, following him to see what he does.

All of the above calls for a new d20 roll.

The annoyingly logical voice once again makes an entry to boss you around.

"That's not the target, see how he looks around in panic? Don't take the bait."

Geeze, she can be such a buzzkill. Stabbing is fun, isn't that all that matters?

"Nope."

Fi-ine, you won't kill him, you'll just follow him then. Maybe he'll lead you to something interesting. Or something interesting will find him. Actually, if that's the case shouldn't you try to help hi-

"Nope."

Urgh, reason is no fun. Oh well, at least you probably won't get yourself killed at this rate. Following the guy should be easy. The way he's looking about, he's looking at a lot of things but he isn't really seeing any of them. He should be watching much more slowly, he'll miss the obvious things, such as your own head peeking out from your tree cover.

He continues walking in his slow pace that isn't really doing him any favors walking around exposed like that. You note his direction being the same as the gunshot you heard. Apparently, he opted for that being the safer of the two.

As he approaches the edge of your vision, you set out to follow him, careful to avoid any branches on the ground. The leaves do crunch slightly beneath your feet, but the man does not seem to notice that over the sound of his own footsteps.

No more than a few moments pass like this before you notice it. Someone is moving about on the man's right side, stalking him just as you are. And he's closing quickly.

What a hack! Trying to sneak up on that clueless guy and stab him without your permission, doesn't he know that YOU are in charge of the stabbings? You'll have to teach him a lesson! And it looks like you'll have plenty of time to do so, as the impostor is taking his sweet time setting up the kill. At that distance, you'd already be on your cheerful way back home.

Promptly, you change your direction and pace, hopping from tree to tree in single leaps, and doing it much more quietly than you thought you would be able to at this speed, as if the undergrowth had deliberately made way for you.

The predator appears to be a man of great size, armed with a stabber that's just as oversized as he is. Actually, is it even a knife when it's that big? You're not sure. You should ask Vasa, she might know. Though you'll have to find her first then, won't you? Oh right, focus on what you're doing right now, no time for thinking about that!

Within just a few moments you've closed the distance so much, you can even hear the breathing of both men. The first struggling to control his breathing, the second forming an interesting contrast with his slow and deep breathing, almost resembling a rumbling. Both are far too preoccupied to appreciate that however.

On a whim, you begin pondering the idea of climbing a nearby tree just to show off with a kill from above. Your musings are interrupted however, when the huge man shifts into a quicker pace. He's going for the kill!

For the third time now, the voice of reason claims the microphone in your head.

"This is stupid! Nobody will even see it, just do it the easy wa-aaAAAH!"
"It'll be awesome! Go for it!"

The second voice makes a good point that you just can't argue with. You'll have to be quick though, you only have a few seconds to get up there before the hapless guy bumbling about up ahead is a dead guy. Not that he seems important, but he has the potential to be your only witness here. And showing off is much more fun when someone sees you doing it!

You set on the task with a good start too, as the numerous creases in your tree of choice gives you a surprisingly good grip. Like this, getting up is a trivial task and within the blink of an eye you've claimed the high ground as well. Was everything always this easy?

Either way, you're still pressed for time, as the hulking man below you has finally taken the opportunity to close the distance as well. See how easy it is, stupid? He should have done this ages ago. He raises his stabber high for an overhead swing, once again leaving you more time than you know what to do with. And that is not even stabbing at all. You're embarrassed to even watch him in action.

And so you choose not to watch at all.

Stabbers gripped firmly in each hand, you take the drop with a forward flip, conveniently bringing you face to face to with the man. Or upside down face to hockey mask, apparently. That just looks silly, guy. Sheesh.

Expressing your disapproval of his headwear, you place your left stabber in his right eye, which awards your efforts with a loud crunch as you penetrate the meager protection, following by a satisfying pop as blood and goo splatters from the wound.

You immediately follow by lodging your right stabber firmly into the man's throat, giving you a second point of leverage. With this, you're able to shift your vertical rotation into a horizontal rotation, almost making a full revolution of his head before running out of momentum, bringing you to an awkward stop as the man falls over, sending you sprawling to the ground as well.

Your landing just got completely ruined!

Oh well, at least he should be dead, what with his face and throat almost sliced from end to end. The other man, now above you, turns to stare with wide eyes.

You would've like a cleaner finish, but you still did a good thing. And that means you deserve a reward. You stand back up, dusting yourself off. You seem to have avoided most of the blood splatter but take a step to the side to get away from the growing pool by the remains of the hockey man's head.

"Hia! Do you have any chocolate?"

The man responds with a stream of gibberish you don't understand, with a few instances of a word that sounds kind of like chocolate. You're fairly confident that it's English from the bits you've heard in the movies, but you don't actually understand it. Despite his staggering breath, the man is talking a lot and waving his arms all over the place. He needs to get to the point.

"Chocolate!"

The man jumps on the spot, then begins patting himself all over, searching his pockets. Finally, he understands! A few awkward moments later, he's carefully handing half of a bar, covered in black wrapping with red writing on it, accompanying the offer with a few more words of gibberish.

Looks like that's all you get.

You let out an annoyed sigh. Here you were getting your hopes up and then the one Westerner you meet barely even has any chocolate. What a waste!

There's nothing to do be done, though. You're quite confident the shivering mess before you wouldn't be able to hide any chocolate from you if he had more. You grab the sorry scraps from his hand, giving it a quick look over. At least the missing piece was broken off, not bitten off.

An expedient dusting off later and it's at least as good as any you'd find in the Skadovsk. You almost considered saving it for later, maybe even sharing it with Vasa, before realizing that you've already instinctively plopped the entire thing into your mouth. Oh well!

The chocolate bar is one of the sneaky ones, it's filled with caramel on the inside which freely flows from the bar as you chew, filling your mouth with sugar. It's still not bad, but you wanted chocolate, not caramel!

You look up at the foreign man, who seems to have calmed down a little.

"Wharb whow?"

The caramel is really sticking to your teeth! You recall that he wouldn't have understood you regardless, so you suppose it doesn't matter. The man simply tilts his head in confusion. Looks like he wants you to decide what to do. You sometimes wonder why grown-ups think that's such a great idea, but that's just how it is.

Well, you still need to find Vasa. Actually, was this even worth your time if all you got was half a- hey you almost forgot to loot the hockey man! He might have chocolate. You crouch down to search his pockets, quickly realizing the new obstacle keeping you from what you want.

He's lying face down. You attempt to turn him over, but you're only just able to lift his arm. You try using it as a lever to turn him over, but he's just too heavy for you. Sighing in exasperation, you turn to the idiot still staring in confusion at you.

"What, do you not know how to loot dead guys?" Remembering his language impairments, you gesture to the body. "Come help me out!"

He takes a single step toward the body, before stopping on the spot, once again shivering like a frightened little girl. You can't help letting out a groan.

"He's already dead, stop being so scared!"

Just to drive the point home, you pull out your stabber, driving it through what's left of the hockey man.

"See? All good!"

Finally, the man dares to move closer, and with his help you manage to turn the oversized corpse over. He only has two pockets on the front, which you know is way too little for any good stalker. But then, he wasn't very good at it so that makes sense.

The first pocket yields absolutely nothing but air, the second is full of... seaweeds? Icky, stinky, green seaweeds that are now sticking to your hand.

Finally, you're left with the obvious. His oversized stabber. You try to pick it off the ground, only to be surprised by its weight. You don't think you could use this well at all!

[ ]Take it with you anyway, you're not leaving without something.
[ ]Give it to the foreigner, at least he'll have some kind of weapon.

You like your old stabbers better. They're much lighter and they look really cool. But that doesn't mean this thing can't be useful in other ways.

The foreign man has already backed away from the corpse again. You can't imagine why anyone would be so frightened of a corpse, but since he's here he may as well be useful. He's bigger than you, so that means he can use it. That's only logical.

That's assuming he wants to be useful at all, of course, as he quickly backs away again when you try to hand him the thing. You wonder if this guy is even worth the effort. You sigh in annoyance at him, the best way you can think of to make your intentions clear.

He appears to understand the point, as he slowly reaches out to touch the handle. He picks it up, and... immediately drops it on the ground.

"Hey! You almost cut me with that, stupid!"

At least your angry tone seems to have helped motivate him, and he manages not to drop it when he picks it back up. He turns away from you to take a few practice swings. His performance is...

well, at least he didn't cut his own arm off or something. If someone placed themselves in the way of his swing and forgot to dodge, they'd probably get hurt? Maybe he can distract something nasty for you, but compared to friends like Doggy or Vasa, he's pretty useless.

>Slasher Fodder acquired
>Slasher Fodder is now slightly more dangerous. Still, he is lower than the lowest rookie and isn't likely to do anything useful except by accident. You feel that you probably shouldn't get attached to him.
>He doesn't even get a picture, or a description beyond "some guy". That's how pointless he is.
>But hey, you saved him so he's pretty much your property.

With that settled, you set off with your new pet in tow. You still need to find Vasa, and you think the best bet is to head in the direction of the gunshot. Vasa wouldn't be caught by surprise, so the scream you heard was probably someone else. Also, whoever that was is probably dead anyway, and Vasa can't die. So that's an easy choice!

With Slasher Fodder following you, you're a lot less subtle now. That's a problem, but trying to teach him to be quiet would probably be a waste of time. On the bright side, if anything does notice you, he would probably take the focus away from you.
