>BATTERY LEVELS: UNRECOGNIZED
>POWER ARMOR: 14% MAXIMUM STRENGTH

The display flickers in the black stillness, a tiny gleaming star only because the darkness is otherwise absolute. "Control, where am I?" asks Darwin. It's the first thing he can think of to do, since he really doesn't know where he is. In fact, he can't remember what he was doing before this, until he tries to turn around and realizes that he can't.
>>
"Control? I'm stuck. There was-"

Darwin drags his memory backward, and remembers. The collapse. The silence of an interrupted signal is all he can hear in his headset.

"Goddammit," he mutter, and tries to turn again. The servos whine, and he glances at the heads-up readout of his power armor as a falling feeling takes over in his stomach.

Preston's drill.

"Preston?" he shouts. If Preston's mic is still receiving he doesn't say anything, but Darwin can see the autobore just beyond his reach.

The light from his helmet is paltry, and the cavern around him has a ceiling so high he can't see it. The walls disappear from either side and he walks blind through the unknown, praying that the direction icons know where they're taking him. Every step Darwin takes makes him feel like he's about to topple into a bottomless pit, and the solid ground under his boot gives him vertigo.

"This must be what divers feel like," he says to himself over the nothing mic.

For one short moment the heads-up goes dark, and Darwin immediately feels a rush of terror. "I'm not underwater," he declares, and ignores the pounding of his heart that goes on even after the light returns.

There are no stones around him now. No stalagmites to stand majestically and give him something to look at. Oh, no, there's nothing here but him. Nothing at all.

And then he sees a glimmer of light, and he tells himself it's just his reflection, but then the light gets brighter as he heads toward it, and Darwin finds himself having to stop from running and tripping, and then he rounds a corner and the cave-in safety frame greets him.

"Where were you when I needed you?" he laughs, giddy with all the working service lights.

The heads-up tells him the battery is fully charged, despite the numbers it shows when it flatlines, and Darwin is once again reminded that his damaged computer might not have any idea what it's talking about, but the line must have been live or else his heads-up wouldn't have said anything.

A couple of Easter egg in this episode... this monster is made with a Duplo animal eye block. You can see that it's much larger than the standard animal eye block used to make such loveable favorites as shreep and bukows. Of course, the most eye-catching thing about this episode is the whole reason this episode exists! I recently got a blacklight bulb, and tried it out for the first time last night. Trans-neon Lego pieces glow under UV light, so all I had to do was make sure that the light was always at the proper angle to shine on the entire faceplate.

Pic related is the lighting test that I did right before someone on /toy/ said "This is going to be a very interesting Lego Quest", which was the prod I needed to throw it together.

Does this work on any transparant Lego piece or just on neon green? I guess that OTC orange should work as well.
>>
>>38101950
There's a family of colors (ie. All colors with 'neon' in its name, glow in the dark colors) that react nicely to blacklights. Not all transparent colors are neon, so regular Trans. Green won't react the same way as Trans. Neon Green.

The OTC is Trans. Neon Orange, so it should glow well.
