~

Before turning in for the night you model the new dress that you received from the deal with Gilligan. The grimy mirror you model in front of simply doesn’t do it justice. The flowing black fabric simultaneously breezes about your body, lightly brushing against your bare skin and frames your body to perfection. Your eyes delight in tracing the curves the dress enhances, from collar, to breast, down to your hips, ending at your bare white thighs.

If someone were to look at you now they’d never peg you for an Occultist. Much more likely the daughter of some wealthy merchant. The thought that you could transcend such a concrete visage delights you. You’ve never owned something quite so, exquisite.

You carefully slink out of it and hang it up for safe keeping. You slip into the warmth of your bed and soon close your eyes to dream of tomorrow’s enterprising plans.

~
From the chattering downstairs you surmise that both your apprentices are present for the many tasks at hand. You slept in a little later than usual due to long you were modeling the dress, but it shouldn’t be an issue with the extra pairs of hands available.

You get dressed and descend the stairs to join the others.

Ellie and Marissa are busy unpacking the many things that Marissa brought with her. The new food is at the forefront of the focus, packages of recently cooked biscuits and fruit preserves are packed into your dismally empty shelves. No longer will you have to make do with the molding leftovers of merchants.

Ellie comes running up to you with a jar of preserves in her hands. “Look Sophia, real food!”

You lightly push the jar back since it was only a few inches from your face. “I can see that.”

You turn your gaze to Marissa who gives you a shy nod and an almost imperceptible, “Good morning.”

“Come now.” You motion your two apprentices to the table. “Let’s eat, we have a long day ahead of us.”

The three of you audibly praise the new food as you scarf down your breakfast. Your two apprentices chatter about what they used to eat for breakfast before coming here. Ellie takes clear charge of the conversation, with Marissa only contributing a word here and there.

Well, at least she’s talking.

You think of the tasks that need to be done. Two ritual circles will have to be set up for you and Ellie. That’s a lot of blood and candles to be hauling, it will take several hours. You could leave the two of them to it and pay a quick visit to the guild and look into that mysterious woman you keep hearing about. What are apprentices for after all?

Or you could stick around and help the two of them, maybe learn more about them as well and make sure that they don’t make any mistakes.
Regardless they will be doing work and it needs to be assigned. You wonder if you’re forgetting anything.

Assign Ellie and/or Marissa to the following tasks.

You’re probably needed here, at least you won’t be doing to bulk of the work.

You clear your throat to silence their conversation. “You already know this, but we’re going to be delving today.” You sharpen your gaze and look over your apprentices. “Which means careful work needs to be done to ensure that it goes successfully.”

They both nod firmly to show that they’re paying attention.

How long that diligence will stay with? Hopefully a while.

You turn your attention to the younger apprentice. “Ellie, thoroughly dust and air out the ritual room. After that set up the candles exactly as you’ve been taught.”

“Got it!” She replies, energy practically oozing out of her pores.

Now for your new apprentice. “Marissa…” She tenses up at your words. “Fill one of the ritual tubs with ten gallons of goat’s blood, and fill the other with ten gallons of the blood out back.”

Her face goes pale and she lowers her head, deep in thought.

You rise from your chair and walk over to her. “You have most to learn, so you’ll have to work hard to catch up.” You pause for a moment to let her think about your words. “But, I do look forward to the day when I can take you on your first delve. So I will be getting you ready, even if I have do more of what I did last night.”

She raises her head, while still hiding her face behind her black hair. But you swear that you saw a blushing grin form on her face.

“Well, get to it. We have to be done before dusk.” You usher them to get up.

The two of them hurry to complete the tasks assigned to them, while you enjoy the rest of your late breakfast. It’s too good to waste.

After finishing, you make your way outside to where you suspect the first issue to arise, and you are right.
Marissa simply stands in front of the tub of blood with the sleeves of her blouse rolled high up. She tightly grips a large plastic jug, and stares at the crimson fluid.

She turns to you when you approach, but says nothing.

“Do you want to become an Occultist?” You ask in a harsh tone of voice.

“Yes.” She answers almost immediately. “Desperately.”

You cross your arms. “You don’t seem desperate, you just seem scared frozen.”

“I am. But that doesn’t change things.” She answers honestly. Her gaze turns down to the blood and her hair hangs from her head. “I’ve just seen a lot of blood.”

You sigh. Everyone has their baggage, you guess. But this needs to be done. She wants to do this, she just needs a little push. Push…

You can’t believe what you’re thinking, it sounds like an absolutely horrible idea, but it’s still there. She’s still there, standing in front of that large container of blood, defenseless.

No, you must not. There are better ways to get her through this. Right?

No, it’s far too extreme to even consider.

You approach her side. “I know what you mean by a ‘lot of blood.’” You dip your fingers through the surface of the red liquid. “Since I was a child, I dealt with the thought having everyone that I cared for ending up as a gory pile.”

You continue. “I lost a lot of people to this. Teachers, friends…parents.”

You swirl your fingers in the thick liquid. “I thought…think that if I just kept studying this stuff, I’d find a way to keep that from happening for good. That if I just keep immersing myself into it, I’ll have an answer.”

You retract your fingers from the liquid. “But I don’t. Yet.”

Marissa suddenly grabs your blood covered hand and clutches it between her own. “I’ll help.” The blood pours all over her hand and onto the ground from how hard she’s squeezing. “It’s just blood.”

“Yeah, just blood.” You don’t know why, but you let her hold your hand for several moments longer before deciding to pull away.

She dips the jug into the large container, staining her arms in the process. What a weird girl.

You head back in inside, but turn to her before you leave. “Call me if it’s too heavy for you.”

Marissa smiles as the jug laps up the blood nosily. “Will do!”

Ugh, got to get focused on the task at hand again. You push aside those thoughts ascend the stairs to the ritual room where Ellie has already begun her tasks.

The windows have been opened as wide as they go, and Ellie shakes off the dust of a large rug through one of them.

The exact right number of candles have been counted out, and the metal tubs arranged as they should be. At least you don’t have to worry about this part of the ritual.

She turns around and jumps in surprise to see you there. “Oh, Sophia. I was just about to head downstairs to help Marissa with the blood.”

[1/2]
>>
>>38092095

At that moment a straining voice huff through the door. Marissa is lugging the five gallon jug with great strain showing on her face. A great deal of the blood has splashed back on her clothes and skin, but she soldiers on and pours the contents into the tub.

She takes a moment to catch her breath before heading back downstairs to fetch some more.

“Just about three more trips to fill that one up!” You call after her.

A sigh is audible from the hall, causing both you and Ellie to laugh.

“Let her finish one tub on her own.” You settle onto an old chair. “You still have to tell me what you mean about delving in your dreams.”

Ellie places the rug down and settles on the ground next to you. “It’s not that I delve there in my dreams. I’m just already there.”

She quietly looks at the beams of sunlight that pour in through the open window. “It’s so real that I can feel the roughness of the rocks, feel the coolness of the water that’s there.”

What’s she’s saying sounds like how actually is over there, so you let her continue.

She leans forward. “In fact the other day, I felt something grab my leg.”

A chill runs down your spine.

“I don’t know what it wanted it with me, it just kept lifting my leg higher and higher. It kept pressing in closer and closer.” She closes her eyes to remember the details. “I may have seen something before I woke up, something red, maybe a wing. What do you think it means?”

You’re simultaneously fascinated by her ability and scared at what she might find out. How to approach this to give a proper answer, but not implicate yourself. But you might have to implicate yourself if you want her to develop, whatever this is to the fullest.

Well, this is one thing that won’t be buried in the past, you guess.

Wait. How do you go about this while keeping as much of your pride as possible? Just go out and say it, show no shame.

“That was me.” You answer flatly. “The red winged creature that you saw was a form I took in the other realm.”

“Oh.” She responds with a mild note of surprise. “Then why were you grabbing me?”

You take only a fraction of a second to mentally prepare yourself. “I wanted to look up your dress when you were asleep.” You continue immediately. “I wonder if your dreams shows a reflection of how the other realm is at that moment or a mere representation of our realm as it would be there?”

You only ponder the implications of her dream-sight as she stares at you flabbergasted. She sighs and shrugs her shoulders, but say no more on the matter. Wow, she really reacted to that much better than you had expected. She actually doesn’t seem to have minded much.

A fact to remember for the future.

Your thoughts are interrupted as Marissa comes panting into the room, hauling the large jug of blood. Her whole entire body is now caked with drying blood, from her hair to her feet. She shakily pours the contents of the jug into the tub and then collapses onto the ground.

A nice chance to change the subject. “Well come on, Ellie.” You stand from the chair and approach Marissa. “She’s passed her test, now why don’t we help her out?”

Marissa stares at you with grateful eyes, as Ellie maneuvers herself off the ground. With a weight off your chest you proceed downstairs merely to supervise the rest of the blood hauling. What are apprentices for after all?

~
After a late lunch, the three of you simply wait around the house to pass the time. The blood has been poured, the candles set up, and the room dusted. Now the appropriate time draws near, so you head outside to see if you can catch a familiar face.

The setting sun illuminates the sky in many shades of orange as you walk to your front gate. You lean against your front gate with your eyes closed. You clear your thoughts for the delve that’s to come. After waiting several minutes, you find no familiar voice greeting you today.

This is indeed a longer one of Ali’s trips, hopefully she’ll bring back something good. You turn back to the house and with the setting sun behind you, walk in to begin the ritual.

Marissa watches from the hall as you and Ellie prepare for the ritual. You’re quick to remove your clothing, but Ellie hesitates, constantly looking back at Marissa in the hall who’s staring intently.

A little too intently. “Ahem. Marissa, which one of the tubs is filled with the human blood?” You ask trying to snap her back to reality.
She jumps at you talking to her. “T-the left.” She hastily replies.

The left, hmm? You have to decide on which tub you want to take for yourself, and which you want to give to Ellie.

You have seen for yourself that goat blood is effective, but the extreme potency of human blood has only been known to you as a rumor. You have no way of knowing the true affects until you try, they may be good or bad, you'll soon find out which.

You decide to take the tub filled with

It falls on you as the most experienced to take the risk. You pick up the black candle left for you and approach the tub.
Finally at the sight of you moving ahead, Ellie removes the last of her clothing and follow suit.

“Just relax, you know all you need to know. Just keep your emotions in check.” With that, you say no more and enter the tub feeling the cold blood surround your legs.

The words flow out of you like water. The ease of which you recite the incantation only serves to calm you further as you dip your body lower and lower.

You hear Ellie begin her incantation only now, anxiety is clear on her voice, as well on her nude form. Her knees quake affecting her voice, her actions are lagging behind her chanting and she realizes this. She tries to lower her body in haste to fix the issue only to lose her balance.

Your helpless as you begin to submerge your neck under the blood, you stay focused on the task at hand, hoping that she will correct herself.

As your lips and simultaneously the black candle hit the water, you hear splashing, running, and two screams.

The last sights you have of the world before leaving it is a clothed body falling down on top of you.

It’s bright, really bright actually. You force your eyes open and the sight of the other realm in front of you causes all your memories to rush back to you.

In front of you lies an endless wetland, decaying trees rise out of the water like bones out of the ground. The sun paints the water a deep orange color, as well as the sky. Nothing moves, not the clouds, not the sun, not even the leaves on all the dying trees.

You stand up on the small patch of ground you find yourself on. You feel energetic, and you stretch out your wings instinctively, only to flex them back close to your body out of fear of harming them.

In the small time you stretch out your wings, you detect something in the air, something dense, but you dare not stretch out your wings to try to decipher what.

You sigh deeply. You can only hope that your apprentices won’t be dead when you return.

“Sophia?” You hear a familiar demure voice behind you.

There stands an unknown woman with long flowing black hair and wings. Her wings shroud her like immaterial black cloths, and shadows dance around her slender body. A tail dances around her aimlessly around her shapely legs, as if it had a mind of its own. But the most striking thing about her is her beauty, leaving you to only stare in awe of her form.

The stunning woman steps toward you. “Sophia, is that you? I only remember trying to help Ellie, she fell out her tub, and now I’m like this.” Her wings stretch out magnificently.

You recall the clothed figure falling after you and surmise that this is Marissa, meaning that both your apprentices are likely alive.
“It’s me.” You answer her, wanting to press in and touch her form.

You’d like to breathe a sigh of relief, but you find yourself enraptured by Marissa’s form, she’s too beautiful. You force yourself to look away to collect your thoughts.

She needs to be sent back home. She’s not mentally prepared for this yet, and part of you feels that neither are you. You spot the portal behind her. You ought to send her home, but who knows what secrets that form holds?

She’s already here, and you still don’t know what exactly produces these forms so you ought to observe them while you have the chance.
“Well, I guess you’re technically an Occultist now, Marissa.” You try to not look at her face. “So, come on. We’ve got work to do.”

You set out trudging through the marshy wetland. “Remember this, Marissa. Never let anyone know where we come from or that we’re human.”

“Okay.” Her voice sounds distracted as she looks all around her, but it’s still alluring all the same.

You take a glance at your wings. The spots where the merchant plucked from have grown back already, but that certainly doesn’t mean you plan on trading them anytime soon.

You only dare take a glance back at Marissa’s form. “I don’t know if your wings are the same as mine, but you’ll want to protect them regardless.”

“You’re very beautiful, Sophia.” Marissa casually comments and the sheer charm that exudes from it causes your whole body to turn hot.
You can’t even find it in you to respond, so you take the time to check for any differences in your form.

As far as you can tell, you’re pretty much the same. The only difference is that your wings keep wanting to unfurl and take off, but your mind certainly won’t let them.

The total amount of space in this realm seems incredibly limited. The surreal feeling that you’re running out of space is constantly present. Your feet don’t penetrate the surface of the water, and what’s underneath seems to stretch on for eternity.

You shudder at the thought of somehow falling in. You haven’t yet, but it doesn’t mean that it can happen at any moment. You try to justify your fears as you wander this realm.

“Hello.” You hear a raspy voice call out, causing both you and Marissa to jump.

You search for the source of the voice only to find an enormous spotted slug resting half in the water and half on a fallen tree.
Gross, you don’t say. Instead “Hello?” you test to see if the voice did in fact come from the slug.

“Hello indeed!” The raspy voice excitedly responds slowly shaking its tentacles in the air. “It’s been so long since humans have come through here.”

Your stomach knots up. “You know that we’re humans?”

“Of course!” He responds simply. “I don’t discriminate against guests of any kind. In fact I’ll give you both a gift.”

A gift doesn’t sound half bad, but you’re not sure if you want the kind of gift a slug would give. “Oh, you don’t have to.” You put on fake modesty.

The slug stretches his body closer to you. “Please, please, I insist. I only ask in return that you both answer a few of my questions so that I may best divine the kinds of gift to give you.”

A more than reasonable offer, you’d turn to see what Marissa thinks if only you didn’t fear that you wouldn’t be able to look away. But you are the leader in this case, so you’d best decide for the both of you.

“Alright then.” You nod for him to continue.

“Downward.” Marissa chimes in with her answer.

“Inward.” You give yours and back up under the guise of getting a better look at him. Standing next to Marissa’s form causes you to tense up, but you collect yourself, not dare letting it show.

“Interesting.” The slug muses as his mantle quivers, grossing you out thoroughly.

He continues. “Only two more questions until you’re free to go, I thank you for entertaining a lonely slug like myself. I sense the two of you are experiencing a variety of emotions largely foreign to me, if you could identify a word for one you feel right now, I’d be able to better understand you.”

Marissa’s eyes go wide in response and her whole body visible blushes red in response.

“Fascinating.” The slug ruminates from his original post on the ground. “Now I know you better, and perhaps you know yourselves better. Of the three answers you gave, which do you wish you had power to address?”

You think back to all your answers before responding to the slug’s final question.

I'm sorry but this made me laugh.

If you wanted a smut quest, there are plenty to choose from.

Although I suppose there are worse to pick than this one to corrupt.
>>
>>38097051
I don't want a full smut quest, only a scene every few runs or the like. Nobody gets me ._ .

this is the fifth thread. We already had one last thread. I'm not sure I follow.
>>

A butt slap hardly constitutes a scene to be perfectly honest.

Still, even if this is an easier quest Auri is still a punishing Gm, Rushing it will bite us in the ass HARD.

Okay, I'll calm down for a few threads, but if an opportunity really presents itself then I'm totally voting for it.

whoops, meant the leg thing.

I suppose every other thread isn't that bad...

“The second.” You finally respond.

“The third.” Marissa answers firmly.

“So it shall be.” The slug descends into the water only to return moments later. He slides in front of Marissa first to and violently regurgitates something in front of her. He then makes his way over to you and vomits an ornate hairpin in front of you.

His voice gasps to collect himself. “Eat and wear these items before you return home, and do not allow anyone else to use what I have given you.”

You pick up the slime covered hairpin and wrap your white hair behind your head and hold it in place with the pin. Marissa boldly reaches down and consumes the small black mess presented to her.

“The items will travel with you when you return home. The knowledge of delving will slowly come to you the longer you wear it, but you…” The slug turns his body to Marissa. “You will be able to use your gift the moment you return. This form will give you the power you need to conquer your fears.”

She looks over her body. “You mean, I can be like this in my world?”

“Not to same extent, but you will grow stronger nonetheless.” The slug reassures her.

She stares in awe of the generous slug. “Thank you.” She finally says.

“I must be going, I’ve been on dry land for far too long today. Please try to visit again, and be sure to keep delving.” He slides back into the watery abyss.

The walk back to the portal is a quiet one, but a comfortable one. The two of you have learned a great deal today, about yourselves and each other. Ellie certainly won’t be happy she missed out on this, but that’s completely her fault. With another successful dive behind you, the two of you slide into the dark portal to return home.

Okay, that's it for tonight, it certainly was eventful. As always, I'd like to thank everyone that played today. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them in the thread and I will do my best to respond.

If not then I wish you a good day/night, and hope to see you again next time!

Thanks for running Auri!
Will Elli be ok?
>>
>>38097669
Thanks for running, Auri. Even if I didn't get what I wanted I still had fun.
>>
>>38097669
Thakns for running!
I wonder if ellie is fine Though.
>>
>>38097744
You're very welcome! Ellie is going to be okay physically since she was pushed out of the tub, but she might be a bit emotional considering she missed out on what was supposed to be her first delve.

>>38097764
You're very welcome! You can't always get what you want~

>>38097774
You're also very welcome! Ellie will be okay for now.
>>
>>38097836
Why'd she stumble out?
>>
>>38097960
What basically happened is that she began to stumble when she was lowering herself, Marissa rushed to help her regain balance and in the commotion Ellie stumbled out onto the ground and Marissa stumbled into your tub.
>>
>>38098033
Oh so in other word Marissa is very luck she didn't explode. So she's in the tub with us? I wonder did the extra potency of the blood for her first delve affect her form?
>>
>>38098087
There are a number of factors that contributed to her not dying. Finding out exactly what they are is part of the quest.
>>
>>38098124
The pin will help with that right?
>>
>>38098161
Indeed it will, as well as help with other things.
>>
>>38098209
So we made a good choice on the gifts and answers then?
>>
>>38098236
Most answer combinations would've resulted in something obviously helpful. But remember that all things have their costs, even gifts.
