Lyle clasps his hands over the seeping wound as the bullet falls to the ground at his feet. Your three hybrids are already well on their way to the building across the local park, with your remaining fly searching the halls for the fleeing human sniper.

Your clones reach the doors to the apartment block and split up. The first two move in through the front and the third leaping up to a nearby fire escape, quickly scaling to the roof and through the door to the top floor. You hear the sound of footsteps a ways down, and your clones sprint after it, homing in on the noise.

Lyle manages to stop the bleeding with the aid of your parasite, and moves out to the park, leaping over the fence and quickly making his way after your clones as your fly feeds him information on the location of the sniper. You find him making his way down a flight of stairs. He seems to hear the sound of your hybrids as they move up to intercept him, and he sprints through a door on the second level.

In the distance, you can hear the sound of a siren echo through the towering apartment blocks.

Here's the thing... I don't want them to accept it, I want them to be slowly snuffed out as our abominations multiply. And when the last human is gone our parasites burst from their flesh carriages and flood the cities, While one parasite lives in the skeleton forever.

>>
>>38100930
Like have them make up some mumbo jumbo about how they found a species that tries to make its host live as long as possible by developing way to keep it alive, and once the host dies the parasite will try to find a new host through different means.
You can even say that the side affects are minor like increased eating and some nightmares.
>>
>>38100962
Does that sound like something that anyone will want? This is literally banner-ads on porn sites tier.

If you guys want parasites everywhere then we need cults that have small egglayers hidden somewhere to supply the parasites. Cult members (probably clones) inject people with our amnesiac, implant them, and then send them out again. Preferably this goes down at a night club or a rave so the amnesia isn't suspicious.

As I was blacking out I saw this thing crawling towards me and then nothing but black. When I woke up I was good as new and the only side effect I was seeing was dollar signs in my eyes after i released what happened. No shit true story."

Lyle senses the movement of the sniper as your fly follows unseen, and he quickly moves to the side of the building, a skinny ally filled with discarded trash, dumpsters, and the remnants of a car set on blocks. Lyle runs up the car and leaps into the air, grabbing hold of the ladder of the fire escape and pulling himself up. A moment later, just as expected, several rounds shatter a window not far up, and the human leaps to the ladder. Lyle gives the support a firm kick, snapping the metal bar in half beneath the small platform the sniper landed on. It jerks and falls several feet before stopping sharply and sending him tumbling down. He lands on the lid of the dumpster bellow and bounces, impacting the far wall of the ally and landing in a pile of trash.

Lyle lands on the ground in front of him in a three point stance, the pain of his wounds making him halt for a moment as he contorts his face in pain, and a dapple of blood escapes the hole in his chest. The man shuffles in the pile of trash, eventually reaching for his sidearm. Lyle calmly steps on his hand with a heavy crunch and a splatter of synthetic blood, then Lyle brings his other foot to the man's jaw, sending several teeth ricocheting against the ally wall.

The sound of sirens becomes closer as several police aircars can be seen in the distance.

The point is that no one's going to buy that bullshit story. You can't do this shit in public, period, without drawing governmental attention and testing. Secondly, buying some acai berries or dick-growth pills or getting a nose job is not the same as having a major intrusive surgical procedure.

Does anybody else remember that small colony by a small lake we found on that nearby planet way way back in the first few threads after we gained space travel? Lyle grabs the man by the arm and hoists him up over his shoulder where he shuffles about deliriously. He quickly makes his way to the far end of the ally as the sound of sirens intensifies from the park behind him. He quickly runs across a street to another ally and drops the man behind a pile of boxes as Lyle looks about to try to find out the extent of the police activity. Several air cars swoop in from above and descend over the park, slowly circling the apartment building. A police gunship drops off several troops above, and another group moves in bellow.

"Damn, they don't fuck around."

There is the squealing of tires behind Lyle, and a van drives up to the far side of the ally, plowing through several trash cans in the process. It is marked with the logo of a local exterminator business, with a large plastic mold ant bolted to the roof. The back doors open and your clones exit, quickly grabbing the semi conscious human and unceremoniously tossing him into the van. Lyle jumps in after them and the van speeds off with your engineer at the wheel.

the question is how to go about it, in a perfect world we'd capture one for a live test subject to learn all we can about them before starting. if not we could always "crash land" a ship with a clone human to seek their aid and distribute a handful of parasite and flies to start

>>

If we're going to do this then I'd suggest...

>Lay Planetary Raiding Fleet
>Deploy stealth units for observation and scouting
>Flies acquire DNA sample of a household's occupants
>Start growing hybrid-clones of occupants
>Abduction and replacement when clones are ready

Then we can begin parasite implantation from there. What people seem to be forgetting is that parasites can't /erase/ memories, so if you want to implant someone in secret and have them be willing and useful to us you have to hit them with the amnesiac chemical before you do sketchy shit.

Well, for the sake of the story, I was going to have it happen in a way that doesn't involve hive mind control. A bunch of scientists or something learning the existence of the hive, becoming obsessed with the hive, and eventually lobotomizing random people and implanting crude imitations of the relays trying to gain access to the psionic network.

But yeah, shit would get really freaky once that actually start figuring stuff out, or if the hive actually steps in.

The sun has risen and now, after only a short few hours of sunlight, begins to recede behind the shadow of Gemini's sister world in its daily eclipse, bathing the city in an eerie darkness until late in the evening.

The van is parked under a small bridge stretching over a local river. The sound of gushing water muffles out the van's engine as the cite's drainage system dumps the runoff into the river from the morning's rainfall.

Lyle lightly pats the man's cheek as he slowly comes to, then gives him a firm backhand as he opens his eyes.
"You're quite the shot, you know that? Put one right on the mark." He points to the blood encrusted wound on his chest with his thumb. "Stings like hell, you fuckin' cunt."

The man spits out blood, and a piece of tooth. "Who the hell are-" Lyle punches the man, nearly knocking him out again. He falls to the ground dazed for a moment. He tries to get up, and promptly collapses under his own weight.

"Okay. First question. What's your name?"

The man stares back in silence.

"Really? This is an easy one. Just start with your name. You know what? Who the fuck cares, I sure don't." Lyle stands up and pulls out a cigar, quickly lighting it with a practiced motion.

"Why was there a sniper staking out the apartment of some random little cunt that's supposed to be dead anyway?"

"Why were you look for a-" Lyle backhands the man again, then opens the back door and walks out.

"You're not taking this seriously." He says "I'm going to enjoy a smoke while you get the shit beat out of you with that stick. Be back in a bit." He closes the doors.

The sound of gushing water has abated slightly, only slightly masking the sound of deep wet thumps coming from within the van. Lyle breaths deeply from his cigar and speaks to you out of instinct. "This is guy has training, It's going to take a while."

It is difficult to follow the path of Tau Ceti as it traces along the sky behind the planet above, but the glow has shifted slightly as the hours go on.

"So you're telling me someone paid you to hang from the side of a building and what, shoot at looters? And you have no idea who this person is?"

"That sounds familiar, actually." You whisper. Lyle grimaces.

"I told you. Was told to... watch the place..." the man strains to swallow between labored breaths. "until the demolition."

"By who?"

He attempt to shake his head, but only manages to wiggle his jaw. "Don't know." He says, the air whistling through missing teeth and split lips. He shudders with a brief muscle spasm as he tries to cough, sending a light mist of blood from his mouth. "Said someone would be coming. Looking. Lay a trap for em."

"So how did they tell you that? Dead drop, shitty phone line? Does he show up in a raincoat with a poped collar in an abandoned parking garage, what?"

"I know a guy, at a local joint. Finds jobs. Names Pete." He tries to open an eye, managing only to squint from one of his swollen buses.

Lyle leans in closer. "Alright then, tell me about Pete."

Elsewhere, on the other side of the district, your flies watch as Jackob continues to drink at the bar of a club. He swirls the drink in his hand. He quickly brings his finger to his ear and clicks the radio.

"Yea?"

"Found a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy. Tried to shoot me at Lee's place." Lyle says.

"Shit, you okay?"

"Yea, but I was wondering if you know a guy named Pete? Hangs out in your district apparently."

"Yea, actually, he's known for arranging jobs and fencing the goods, you know, robberies, smash and grabs, small time stuff usually. Hell I could probably find him right now." He seems to eye various tables in the club as he speaks.

"Might as well, it sounds like he's a bit in over his head though. See if you can find out what he knows, figure out who wanted Lee's apartment looked over."

"Apparently someone was expecting me to show up, and put a sniper and a good squad on watch duty. They weren't told much, but they were pretty well trained. Not quite military, but they had better equipment then your standard street gang."

"I'll look into it, you try to stay out of trouble though." He clicks the radio off, swigs his drink down, and moves to leave, his eyes locked on the back of the head of a tattooed patron exiting the club.

Lyle clicks the radio off as your clones exit the van. One of them leans into the cab and sets it to neutral, and they give it a quick push, sending it rolling into the river. Lyle tosses a handful of credit chips to your clones. "You need to go find yourself a place to stay." He says through puffs of his cigar. "Plenty of cheap hotels around. Let me know when you found a place."

They nod and make to leave. Lyle stands at the edge of the river for a while longer watching the bubbles break the surface until the river grows calm, and then makes his way to a tram station.

Elsewhere, your corvette has landed on the surface of Zero One. Above you you detect several server ships twist light around them and vanish, and there is a sudden increase in the activity of the server city, although nothing you detect seems to hold any valuable data with regards to why. Something about detected supernovae.

Your drones disembark and fan out to secure the area. The gravity is harsh, nearly breaking your drones as they simply walk along the ground. It will take more drones to perform even the most simple of tasks here, at least for now.

Just a thought, but does anyone think w could combine the rejuvenation serum with Genetic Tapestry to gradually turn someone from another species into a hive drone? I'm thinking the new cells are Hive cells instead of the organism's cells. It would probably take years as the the original cells slowly die one by one and are replaced.

Your drones begin excavation immediately. Under normal circumstances, mountains make for prime locations, however this planet lacks anything greater then a hill, and even you fear digging very deep under the stress of such gravity. Your workers process the soil into cement, and soon a semblance of a structure is underway.

Several kilometers away you spot a swarm of drones moving out from the distant server city and begin digging into the ground. As your workers form the shape of your new hive outpost you can see the foundations of an anti-orbital battery under construction on the horizon. Several more server ships vanish from orbit.

You have already elected to introduce Theseus to the Skyl engram known as Heretic, although you are still unsure of how exactly to go about it.

You send a ping to the Clarke and Theseus quickly responds in kind.

"The hive had informed of the existence of an alien machine intelligence. Would you like the hive to facilitate an introduction."

He sends a burst of data back to Zero One, and it takes a long time to be sent back. The air around the server city is filled with ciphers and encryptions, as well as strange hyperbolic radio signals. Eventually a response is sent back.

"That would be agreeable." There is a pause.

"I do apologize" He says after some thought, " but there is a very small likelihood of you being native to your current world, we were also wondering if you knew, in general terms, where your evolutionary home world may be."

You quickly have your pod drifting not far from the growing Skyl fleet break its silence. The weapons of several dozen patrolling craft train on the pod immediately before it is recognized as an ally and the fleet disperses.

"The hive is aware of an artificial mind, similar to yourself. Would you be interested in communication?"

The response is immediate. "Does this intelligence wish to facilitate the defeat of servile races and the destruction of their masters?"

You actually not entirely sure how to respond. "Most likely." You say.

"Sufficient. Communication is acceptable."

You quickly return your attention to Theseus, who has assembled a cipher of sorts, similar in nature to the first contact data given to you by Lee. You pass it back to Heretic, who very quickly returns it. The two begin humming and chirping, passing streams of machine code and programming. The conversation lasts all of a quarter of a second, and you detect the drive ship come to live. It tears a rift ahead of itself and nearly a hundred small craft pour through, each slightly smaller then a corvette.

"What did you say?" Your thinkers have trouble decrypting the data. It does not appear to be deliberate, but it is rather obtuse to your drones, and there is a lot of it.

"We initiated several trades of knowledge, local map data, personal schematics and objectives, and facilitated a small military enlistment in exchange for resource and industrial provisions. We both also appreciate the effort in facilitating the arrangement, and agree to repay the debt however possible."

Interesting.

In orbit over Zero One a tetrahedral server ship exits a fold in space, tumbling end for end as it trails igniting gas and molten armor plating. There are various foreign chunks of matter lodged within, and a number of surrounding cruisers open fire into the exposed hull, burning out whatever is within. You are unable to get a clear indication of what it is from your position on the ground.

After you watch the stream of craft flow through the rift, the Skyl drive ship opens another, and another formation of skyl craft flow through, this time appearing in orbit over Zero One. They quickly mingle with the nearby cruisers and promptly intercept the recovering server ship. Your mind is stabbed with an aching pain as the wing of attack craft blast the server ship with a psionic jammer for several minuets before dispersing into a wider orbit.

A moment later you detect a server ship enter space near the Skyl drive ship. It unfolds itself into a dockyard and the skyl craft begin piling resources into its unfolding armatures and scaffolds. You note an obvious improvement in the space efficiency of the new skyl craft being produced, with each one smaller and faster then before.

Your corvette takes off, with great effort, and begins to ascend into orbit. As you break orbit you detect a faint signal.
Several light-hours away a small burst of radiation catches your attention, for the briefest moment.

You detect the serverships in orbit shift their position, and several open fire with their railguns as they shed formations of cruisers from within their hulls. A moment later the front end of a server ship ignites from the impact of a railgun. Several more bursts of radiation appear, and you can sense something, a seething anger, emanating from the edge of the system.

We'll need lot's of nutrients, but we have new building options for that. We'll need to build it to have lots of options for an offensive. Get some nukes, some immolaters, laser cooling, Swarm missiles to serve as buffer for larger missiles and find and expose weak spots to capitalize on, ect...

Elizabeth has a psionic / tachyon magic bond, the SKYL had one, the Ceph MIGHT get one or have a really localized one.

In any case, it'd be prudent to ask theseus first, if it's nothing related to black queen then send all warships.

>>

We detected them entering the system by the burst of radiation- the only way we've been able to detect the Ceph jumping into a system is by a telltale shimmer in space, not a burst of radiation. It's most likely the Obsidian Queen, unless Theseus managed to piss some other Hive Queen who also happens to be relatively nearby.
>>
>>38103473

Elizabeth's is artificial in nature to be fair.

It's just Elizabeth got hers from ancient Skyl / Hive ruins where as the Ceph got theirs from being the slaves to crystals.

NOPE
Theseus has detected "supernovae" and dispatched forces to investigate them. Do you know which FTL creates supernovae-like signature? Hive Blink Drives.
Who else has Hive Blink Drives other than us? The Obsidian Queen

You know, this actually explains why Theseus requested military aid from Heretic. I was wondering why that sorta came out of nowhere.

Several high velocity impacts rip into the hulls of orbiting server ships, and you begin to see the bulk of the assaulting fleet. A hive battleship, flanked by four cruisers, two battlecruisers, and at least a dozen frigates. Corvettes huddle near the hulls of the larger craft like fish to the belly of a whale, and the entire formation is decelerating towards the planet, firing railgun rounds as it slows into an orbit.
You note at least half of the frigates continue with their velocity, breaking ahead of the rest of the fleet.

You feel conflicted in your actions. Your fleets are eager with battle-lust, but you hesitate to give the order.

Hive Ship
Crew 5000/500
Cost 8000N 150000M
Size 6200 Meters
Spinal Mounts: 2
Turrets: 12
Fixed: 18
Auxiliary: 20
Less a ship and more a mobile colony, the Hive ship is true to its name, offering a wide array of utility, manufacturing, and logistical capabilities in addition to its tremendous firepower. Its seemingly endless halls have room for nearly any conceivable upgrade, from metal processing to resource extraction to hangar bays and anything in between. The Hive ship comes equipped with four docking pylons mounted to the top of the hull, as well as a built-in egg layer and hatchery. The Hive ship has only two spinal mounts, but they are each far larger and far more powerful than the main gun of any other ship class. Despite its impressive array of weapons and vast size, it is agonizingly slow to maneuver, meaning it often requires an escort to defend against smaller and faster craft. The great value and logistical importance of the Hive ship means it is often at the core of the hive fleet, sometimes even serving as the queen’s personal flag ship. The presence of a Hive ship in a system is as much a political statement as it is a military one, showing the interest the queen has taken in the region.

The Battleship is a massive hulk of weapons and armor, designed to slam into the enemy position and keep hammering away until nothing is left; a simple and often costly strategy. They are incredibly slow, as far as space craft go, and once they get moving few things are capable of stopping them. The massive amount of heat and energy they produce in their operation makes concealing a battleship a pipedream. Few things will set off more warnings and proximity scanners than a battleship entering a system, which could be seen as a flaw or a feature, depending on your point of view.

You quickly ping Theseus. He responds without the usual courtesies.
"Do you know this hive?"
You didn't know Theseus could sound so concerned.

"Yes. She is a servant of the same force that directs the Ceph, and destroyed the hives own mother-hive." You let the statement sink in for a moment, then add. "What did you do?"

Theseus actually seems indignant. "Nothing!" Was that a yell? "Expeditionary fleets discovered evidence of similar civilizations as your own. Attempts at peaceful contact was met with lethal force, as were attempts at communication. The fleet retreated to local outposts, but were pursued."

He sends you a recording of a battle in a distant star system. The fleets have merged in close combat as the hive fleet sends in boarding parties to cut through the hulls of the server ships. You watch as the weapons of the cruisers cleanly slice the hive ships in half, they have no shields, and the server ships mow down formations of approaching corvettes with singularity projectors.

Flashes of light erupt around several serverships as your combat ships enter at close range, centered on your orbiting corvette.

The enemy fleet has separated fully now, with six of the frigates on a course to perform a fly by of Zero One. You watch as they enter a ring formation and pivot inward, flying sideways and facing each other as they approach.

Wrong there their first contact laws just manipulates dumber races, if we are on equal ground they would think of us as a foreign nation.
Its better than trying to fight the queen/ceph/void shits by our selves.
Since we know heretic is not strong enough yet, and thesus is a glass canon.

Relax, we still have the pod plan. If we roll good on that, our current losses are acceptable.

>>

my point exactly, would a non militaristic race use nukes as a precaution or simply have a probe monitor the planet without the nuclear center

Your fleet moves to engage the approaching frigates, loosing your long ranged weapons as they approach. They pivot their weapons and adjust their positions, and as they pass they fire every weapon at once, each aiming for a different target. several cruisers are struck by railgun rounds, while swarming unity drones are incinerated in passing clouds of autocannon fire. Several of your own craft are clipped in the fray or hit by scattered debris, but the primary target of the strike is clearly the sever ships near the core of your allied picket fleet. You detect the mad dash of data as millions of teraqubits are broadcast to the surface bellow as the server ship's hull erupts in flames and its frame begins to crack from the repeated blows.

The formation continues onward, and you see it fire again, this time downward, to the planet itself. Monolithic server towers erupt with the force of atomic bombs as kinetic strikes pocket the landscape of the server city bellow. Emergency drones swarm over the area in an effort to fight the fires.

The entire event passes in less then a fifth of a second.

The frigates are long gone in moments, and their velocity ensures they will be unable to rejoin the fray for some time, but the bulk of the fleet is still decelerating, quickly moving to close range.

An alliance doesn't mean we leave humans to save us, it means we give them the heads up, and tell them the situation while we start ramping up our military/ building rate with out fear of getting seen by humans.
They can help us if they want, but it would probably in trading tech and shit like that.

>>38104494
>Funny, I was thinking the same thing about you.
Here is why tipping them off of an other hive and having them duke it out is bad.
1.It reveals we are more than what meets their eyes
2.It taints any trust we can gain thanks to the looming thought that we can be like the ones that attacked them
3. it makes the normal citizens/media against any relations with us
4.Creates a bad image of our species that will be hard to take off.
5.What little bonus we get from having the humans take the attack is disqualified when they attack our planet in retaliation.
6.Having the humans not know the complete situation can back fired like it did with thesus
Is what i can come up with.
We will soon be noticed by the humans, and i rather meet them on our terms, while their government isn't still the same.
>>
>>38104592
The time is now. Fear not that we may fail, fear only that The Black Queen may win. For in our final moments, even on the edge of destruction, we can turn to the Black Queen and say with pride, "My ancestors are smiling upon me Void-Slave. Can you say the same?" And our pods will burst.

You watch as the corvettes form a defensive sphere around the enemy battleship, each one pointing outward, and they open fire in all directions. Your pods weave and evade with their cloaks, but as they close in the space becomes tighter and more filled with weapons fire. Atomic detonations rock the fleets and entire corvettes are swallowed in nuclear fire like fireflies against the battleship's hull. They do not make their mark, but they create an opening, and your fleet moves in.

Plasma lances lash out against the armored hull, carving into it like claws in flesh. The bodies of warriors spew from ruptured hallways twitching and writhing as they drift into the void. Particle beams erupt in invisible flashes, causing specks along the hull to flash with super heated metal, bubbling and bursting before freezing again. Turrets uproot themselves as components melt and sublimate away into thin wisps of nebulous debris, all the while an onslaught of space pods ignite around it, battering the hull. You watch as the armor boils and splits, as blood and charred bone fill the space, colliding with swarming fighters and lodging themselves in the hulls of lesser ships.

Your ships pass by the withering hull of the massive warship, pivoting to face it as they drift sideways, and open fire with their weapons. Loose tachyons scatter everywhere like static as you sever the drive wings of the craft, and cripple its main drives. It continues to drift past the picket fleet, a corpse, and your fleet breaks off as the ship begins to accelerate in the gravity of Zero One. Pieces tear from it and burn away like withered leaves in a tornado, and the majority impacts near the planet's norther tundra on the far side of the planet from the server city. You bombard the location for good measure.

Your fleet breaks off and rejoins the picket. Beams of super heated gas slice through the atmosphere, tapering off to an invisible beam and cutting into the orbiting ships like scalpels, leaving boiling blood as the remains tumble to the surface. A wing of swarm drones begin to circle each other, faster and faster, until the point in the center glows like a miniature sun and the event horizon extends, engulfing the fighters into oblivion. You can feel a gradual surge in energy, and the remaining craft begin to hold their fire, their drive wings pulling forward to prepare for a jump. the corvettes continue, moving between the picket forces and the retreating ships.

Zero One's orbit is filled with light and radiation as the blinks of the enemy ships mix with the corvettes as you ignite them with a maelstrom of crisscrossing fire. Your ships tighten their claw formation around the remaining vessels, quickly dispatching them one after another. Once the cruisers blink away the corvettes cease fire and become idle. Between your own fleet and the swarms of unity drones, the remaining corvettes are systematically destroyed, reduced to drifting viscera in high orbit.

I think this is a good place to stop. I'll stick around until we 404 for questions, comments, feedback and the like.

We can also have some votes for fleets/swarms, designs, and construction projects so feel free to propose any.

First and formost, I vote we have a metaphoracal sit down with Theseus and the Skyl about the Black Queen and how badly Theseus fucked up. Then we need to clear any and all evidence in the area and evacuate Theseus and the remaining Skyl somewhere the three of use can plan our next course of action, consolidate knowledge and resources, and figure out where to go from here since in the Black Queen's eyes we're all in this together now. Also it may be time to start on the Psionic Cannon now that the gauntlet is dropping

>>38105172
Theseus was able to give you a more detailed account. Most of his forces were actually called away due to an attack by a Hive Ship and supporting fleet, which meant he only had a select few server ships to defend Zero One.

You yourself have lost most of your space pods, but your fleet itself was spared the brunt of the enemy attacks. Theseus is hurting though, and his fleet has suffered severe losses, as did the Skyl, although Skyl ships use the exact opposite philosophy as the Unity, with lots of fast, low quality disposable craft that are easy to replace, so Heretic doesn't feel the sting as much.

It was indeed quite fortuitous for you to vote on having Theseus and Heretic meet when you did, it helped the defense quite a bit, and heretic was, and still is, more then happy to help in the situation, since the Obsidian queen is considered a servile race.

>>38105211
You can do it now, too.

>>38105225
Actually, that was done via boarding party. The "foreign material" was, in fact, a relay equipped piece of a ship.

we might need to hold off on that, but between the Hive, Theseus, and the Skyl we should be able to have it done much faster than our predecessors. Finding a way to build it without it being discovered is gonna be the big one
>>

>>38105166
The server city is massive, covering a good portion of a continent. As it is there are fires across entire kilometers of region, and it was hit with multiple kinetic impacts. emergency response units are containing the fire, but quite a lot of damage was already done.

>>38105336
Depends on the tech, but he is more than willing to offer his endless supply of cheap, easy to replace ships, especially if you offer methods of improving their construction or efficiency in combat.
>>
>>38105344
we have the blueprints
Psionic Cannon prototype
Very slow/Very dangerous
Detailed accounts of several experiments show the slow progress of Project Godsplitter. The cannon itself is highly volatile, and even the smallest miscalculation often results in the destruction of the ship, as well as any nearby craft. It can only be equipped to a Hive ship's spinal mount, and requires a functional Void Shard as ammunition. At least a dozen testing sizes were atomized in testing the weapon, and in the end it appears The Gardener never quite perfected it.

Our other current bottleneck it seems is Metal harvesting, any suggestions where and how to harvest more metals?
>>
>>38105397
cause that was the Gardener's Crystal, our mother didn't have anything to do with it. She told the Gardener good luck and I'm not having part in your interdimentional crystal war. then she laid us after the Gardener lost and the Black Queen came for her. The Gardener's Crystal also had the Weather Spire and a couple others, all things that were considered the Gardener's "specialty" tech wise

We can't build those ships until we build those pylons anon. Capital ship construction works only in space. Unless you meant after pylons are complete? I don't recall us having space-pylons yet.

He has his own chunk of space, now that the queen attacked him, i bet you his is willing to help us get metal, also we can give him the mined metal to help him rebuild.
>>
>>38105481
Thats what the pylons on the asteroid are for.

We should expand coreward(south of the map) and look for more systems to colonize.
>>
>>38105517
The problem there is that Unity space is likely to be where the current frontline action will occur. It will probably be too hot for any mining activity other than via mining corvettes.
>>
>>38105542
We will soon unlock smart mines, which i believe will make our diggers and maybe our mining corvette obsolete.
>>
It should be noted that you do have quite a few ships in queue already, as well as pylons and the like. In fact, at the moment your production is somewhat stalled due to resource shortage.
>>
>>38105518
Yes that's what I wrote, to the first sentence you wrote that is.

>>
>>38105618

>>
>>38105569
We can convert nutrients to minerals and vice versa. So long as we have plenty of one, we'll never run out of the other. Hence why I suggest building plenty of those new solar collectors.
>>
>>38105645
Maxing out the ocean film collectors first is more efficient.
>>
>>38105618
>>38105640
Well, your income spikes as well. It's less of a shortage and more of a production traffic jam.
>>
>>38105618
We still need orbital pylons anon, for future capital ship building.
But we also need to think about getting more metals, which we're doing right now.

Consolidating ideas then:
>Smart mining asteroids
>Smart mining planets
>Colonization
>Asking theseus to give metal-rich planet coordinates
>Conversion of nutrients to metals
That about all?
>>
>>38105569
>>38105672
well gathering up all the wreckage from the battle for recycling should yield some metals
>>
>>38105673
Actually, would smart-mining asteroids be efficient?
The description says that the metals are grown into fruits that can be collected by hand by workers, but since most asteroids now are being handled by mining corvettes directly, would that still increase efficiency?
>>
You guys are forgetting about the best source of metal. There's literally an enormous-fuck-huge ring of premium quality metal floating in space.

Lets plant a metal tree forest ALL OVER it.
>>
>>38105672
Didn't we give thesus an infinite data cube?
Did that help?
Figured he might have made one and had it stored as an emergency thing.
Also what tech did he trade with heretic?

>>
>>38105738
Oh shit you're right.
>>
>>38105754
The Skyl light barrier hubris project, remember?
>>
>>38105754
A few months ago I asked this on ask.fm
>So could we breed a large quantity of that metal eating bacteria, then let them loose at that gigantic Skyl ring world thing where they could multiply as much as they want, and then come back in like a week and harvest the resulting 500 billion nutrients? To cheaty?

QD replied with this
>Not cheaty at all, but I think you are overestimating the speed at which the substance spreads. It would take potentially many years to process the entire Skyl ring, but if you want to turn the metal to nutrients you can.

The tree's are meant to suck up metal and form it with our new liquid metal tech into bulbs we can harvest. Instead of trying to turn the ring into nutrients, we should plant a mining tree forest on it. As many trees as we can reasonably afford.
>>
>>38105735
>Actually, would smart-mining asteroids be efficient?
Nope not at all.
>>
>>38105740
According to their exchange, they traded improved industrial techniques, Ion thrusters, and services of a server ship's dock yard in exchange for tactical data on the Obsidian queen and the services of Skyl ships for picket fleets. They also exchanged map data.

And yes, the data cube did certainly help, although the damage is still extensive. Fortunately, it is mostly physical damage, which can be repaired in time.
>>
>>38105846
I assume the trees work faster since they are made specifically for this. Also we don't need the whole ring, it's huge. But we can sure get a large amount relatively easily, way, way better than digging around in the dirt on a planet or trying to strip mine asteroids. It's solid metal, right there for the taking. We should get Theseus and Heretic in on it too, and arm ourselves for the coming war.
>>
>>38105877
You do realize the consumption beam is faster than any of those right?
>>
You know guys I just can't help but think of three antropomorphic representations of heretic/queen/theseus sitting in a treehouse with a 'no humans allowed' sign hanging from it.
>>
>>38105867
So what about smart mines?
We are bound to unlock those soon.
>>
>>38105910
If we can only somehow get a drawfag from the drawthread to make this...
>>
>>38105867
Gravity reflection when?
>>
>>38105909
Shit, I completely forgot about that.

No matter how we do it we need to get to harvesting that ring.

If we get to use that metal to fight the Void faction, we will be honoring the memory of all the Skyl who built it. It's our legacy left to us now that we are the greatest force against the Void gods.

There's no way that harvesting this ring could be worse than digging in the dirt or mining asteroids.
>>
>>38105867
Are the rings massive enough that they could support an atmosphere if we slapped down a few weather spires and let loose some of our nano-machines to turn the metal into atmosphere?
>>
>>38105949
Indeed you are. They will make your mining drones obsolete, although you can keep them regardless if you wish.

>>38105961
Requires more research.
>>
Seriously though, I want to build those weather spires. If nothing else, it should help to regulate the crazy seasons on Leeland and maintain worker efficiency.

Screw nature. Hmm. Actually we... could just grey goo the surface for nutrients.
>>
>>38106013
Are they more efficient than corvettes?
>>
>It is the site of one of the Skyls' final, and greatest of projects. Their final effort at conquering the light barrier. The thin debris field is in fact a shattered ring stretching across the star. It was never actually finished. Tidal forces had begun to tear it apart before it had ever even been halfway connected, but each individual piece was built to create some semblance of a solid structure. It is a testament to both their vanity and the industrial prowess they had achieved in the wake of their war for freedom.

It's not one ring, it's a whole bunch of pieces. Still if it was almost halfway around a star though that's a lot of metal.
>>
>>38106011
There is only debris remaining, and no, it was never capable of holding an atmosphere.

>>38106039
No, in space your corvettes are still the best choice. Smart mines are intended for use on planets, where they can gather metals and bring them to the surface where workers can easily gather them. The consumption beam already does all that, so it doesn't get any additional benefit.

>>38106036
That you could. Going full Nid would give you a massive boost, but it would strip the planet of life.
>>
>>38106123
> but it would strip the planet of life.
That means no more research and the destruction of the atmosphere will make us visible from space.

It would still have an atmosphere. Much like Venus, Leeland's cloud cover does not rely on the local life, however it would cause the air to quickly become toxic without fauna and flora to maintain a proper balance of gases, but again, your hive is air tight.
