In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of thousands of Imperial provinces that form the frontline in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

Apologies, got distracted with some stuff. Last session we dealt with some of the management issues. Today we can either continue with that or if you wish we can proceed with either pilgrimage with the Ice Wraiths or something else. Some things for your attention:
1. Expected events are resolved:
>347.M41 = Raven Guard Doctrine will come into effect
Your new methods of fighting are in force now. Who shall be your first target?
>347.M41 = 45 Scouts will be ready
mid
45 scouts join the ranks of 10th company!
>347.M41 = Transport Ship Pale Raven should arrive at The Iron Phoenix and deliver its cargo
MS, please enter the scene.
>347.M41 = Next expected geneseed harvest.
Please roll 2d100 for the geneseed harvest.
2. Please updated Chapter History page and let us decide the name of the Quixos' operation, it deserves to have a page!
3. What are your next actions?

Let's get going with this pilgrimage. But first we need to have a chat with Geron.

>Brother, I received word from Cagirates that Ursus is a heretic, consorting with a non-imperial empire. I need you to infiltrate his palace and find proof of this heresy, that we might show it for all to see. Be careful in the palace, I fear that even our brother's in the honour guard may have somehow been subverted to Ursus' will. If you're captured (though I highly doubt they could catch you) say it was a training exercise for the honour guard. Once the mission is complete make your way to a civilian starport from where we can extract you. Good luck brother.

Dispatch Geron to infiltrate Larion Ursus' palace and find proof of his supposed heresy.
>>
>>38114519
Send Geron with a damned data cable so that he can securely speak on a hard line to Cagirates if the need arises.

You managed to collect 94% harvest of the geneseed from your marines! It constitutes a total of 559 units of geneseed.
>>38114393
However from the quality of the collected batch it seems that a mild mutation has developed in our gene code. What shall you do?
1. Purge all the geneseed, it's the only way to be sure
2. Remove most of geneseed, leaving only samples that are almost guaranteed to be pure [destroy 500 geneseed, 5% chance of mutation]
3. Remove half of the geneseed at Klementhos' discretion. Hopefully it will reduce the danger enough to get rid of the mutation. [destroy 280 units of geneseed, 25% chance of mutation]
4. Purge only clearly tainted geneseed. [destroy 100 units of geneseed, 45% chance of mutation]
5. Keep all the geneseed and praise to the Emperor that it's beneficial [81% chance of mutation]

Artemis and Xavior, sons of Kerius Dermont, spent years with the Chapter, learning gathering experience. Today they are fine young men full of passion and ambition. Artemis has grown to be just like his father, tough, ambitious, straight to the point. Mentorship by Captain Macedon might have had something to do with this. Meanwhile his brother Xavior tended to spend a lot more days with old Klementhos, studying and seeking answers to the questions that bothered him about the world. Their return to their father is probably the greatest gift you could have arrange for the old man, he wasn't expecting them to come back for another decade or more. He is overjoyed:
>I must thank you, Chapter Master, for all the good you've done for my people and my family. I am happy to see that my sons grew up to be worthy men under your care!
He proceeds to arrange a week long celebration at the capital of Kanihirium, all the men of your Chapter are invited to participate as well. Dermont sons are back on Mormark and you smile to yourself knowing that you have prepared the next generation of leaders for your homeworld. However as you are leaving the ballroom for some reason you turn back and see the old dictator wistfully looking into the distance through the stained glass window. Happy he may be, but this once great man has his own ghosts to fight.

Tachion Primaris is a great place for a man like Geron. Secret passages, high rooftops, maintenance tunnels, cables - so many possibilities to infiltrate! Naturally the Regal Spire, home of the Sector Lord Governor is extremely well protected, but Geron managed to slip through all the outer security unnoticed... What shall he do?
1. Infiltrate Larion's work cabinet and download files [modifier +0]
2. Try to shadow Larion Ursus and listen in on his conversations/monitor odd things about his routine [modifier -25]

Geron narrowly evades Cagirates himself and manages to spend half a day spying on the Ursus royal family. Some of the things he discovers are both unsettling and shocking.
+It appears that Deidara Ursus, Larion's wife is very fond of "benefactors". Who are they Geron doesn't manage to find out, but over the course of the day she mentions them on two separate occasions when speaking with important individuals from high society who secretly come to pay her respects.
+Geron also infiltrated Katriona's chambers, seeking to find some signs of heresy. What he found instead was Larion himself, having his way with his daughter in ways that unsettled your scout worse than some of the daemons he had to face in the past. At least that explains why she hasn't married for so long...
+It appears that the household is full of minor xenotech. Geron has recorded a wraithbone pendant, Tarellian ritual sword on the wall, collection of Ork teeth. Sector nobility is known for using xenotech as a form of rare and expensive commodity, but what interests Geron is a non-Imperial human made cogitator. He wasn't able to access it as it is at all times protected by one of our brothers in the Honour Guard.

You wanted to stop Treon from reporting in and you stopped him in the door trying to convince him he shouldn't contact you Cagirates. You failed and he's done that and naturally received an order to apprehend Geron until his identity is confirmed, etc etc.
>>38118593
This is also an option. Roll d100 for combat if you wish OR pick one of the options.
>>
>>38118764
what about a non lethal way.
If he calls bullshit we can say
"No really we are trying to simulate this for you, we even made an astropath call, the call might not have gone through, anyway to keep this up, lets test you in combat

Actually don't bother, we don't have a teleportarium and they might detect it.

Too late...
>>38118964
Geron dives through the window as Treon tries to stop him. He catches one of the cables outside and slides down to the ground level. Bolts soon start flying around him as a few Astartes come rushing towards him.
>Infiltrator! Protect the Governor!
Geron barely escapes them, but within a few hours he is safely off the Tachion Primaris. You later hear that Hive Babelion was on full alert for more than a week, with all checkpoints being checked for "heretics"...

Let's wrap up any unfinished business and end the session for the day!

What pictures did we get of the cogitator?
Any identifying marks?
Bring Eisenhorn in on this. If I remember correctly he said he would help us with this in return for us helping him.

I want to publicly state that having operatives on solo missions is retarded. It should be our policy that all Revenant teams are 2+ individuals with one operative whose sole job it is to hold an extraction route at all times in case things go bad (they inevitably do).

Shall I put this on the doctrine page or the ghost company page?

That would be smart, especially since nothing ever goes well

Contact Drey Kasting, tell him we have very important matters to discuss.

>>38119155
You managed to get few pictures of Cogitator, but naturally you never had the chance to even attempt logging in, so these pictures only might help you discern the origin of the thing and it's technical specifications, not what's inside it. Eisenhorn might help you, send him an soulword, d100.
>>38119203
I will sure remind you of this if you want it. If you wish you might update it as a note under Operational Guidelines heading.

Terra is long way off, d100 please.

Eisenhorn replies you within a week.
>I will surely help you in any matters requiring analysis. I am still recuperating from my wounds in Scarus Sector, but if you'd send me those pictures with first passing pilgrim ship, I will deal with them for you, dear friend.

Meanwhile Drey Kasting's reply is short and to the point.
>I would love to visit you, Chapter Master, but my tasks are many and my time is scarce. If the matter of discussion is open, just tell me, otherwise send your emissary to Terra and I'll hear you out. Don't trust astropathic channels, warp isn't as calm as it used to be these days. Regards, Kasting.

Send Eisenhorn the pictures, have one of xyptus' agents handle them.

Send Damokleon to Terra to talk with Kasting about how to proceed with heretical Sector Governor. Can we charter a super-fast ship at a cost?
>>
>>38119808
If we're sending people to Terra make it worth our while and send a few to investigate our chapter origins as well as talk to Kasting

As you walk down the hallway you feel a strange feeling... It feels similar to what you have felt back during the days when the Laughing God held sway over your soul, but it's different. Then you suddenly notice that the Mark of Fate and Time burns hot on your skin. As you touch your mind starts to wander and leaves your body. You fly faster than light somewhere far into the stars, along one of the strands of pure white. At first, there is only one, the one you are following, but as you go further, you notice more and more of them... They seem to be crossing each others paths, coming from the darkness and disappearing into the future. And then, you see them. A young boy, no more than 15 years of age and girl, probably his sister, hugging each other on a cold street of a huge hive. They are hungry and miserable, they are lowest of the low, dirt under the threads of Imperium. The boy looks up at the massive drilling towers dotting the horizon. His gaze is one of pain and despair. He then turns to his sister:
>I have to do it Maryam. We will not survive otherwise. Wait for me here.
She silently nods and crawls into a corner. The boy goes across the street to the old building with the sign of "Danner's Best Wares" sprawled across the facade. He takes out a shiny silver ring out of his pocket:
>A bucket of promethium and 20 ration packs, please.
Vendor laughs at him:
>For stolen silver? Hah, I will not give you even ten!
The boy replies angrily, his eyes full of pride and hurt:
>It's not stolen! I am not thief! it was my fathers!
Vendor laughs once more:
>Sure it was, sure it was, boy. Fine, here, take your stuff and be gone.
Vendor takes the ring and lifts it in front of his eyes to take a good look. It's an old silver ring with a Dragon on it's coat of arms. You start feeling dizzy and you hear voices calling you from the real world. But then, a moment before you are drawn back, you notice the incription... BELISARII.
