It all seemed to be going so well. Fervious was falling, Sytili was becoming the Khornate friend you never had, and soon you’d be reunited with Ignitrix. Everything was going according to plan for once, even with your usual Khornate hijacks. But then you attempted to slay Fervious’ Planetary Governor.

Suddenly your entire plan was blown apart. Things which seemed constant began to change and morph. What was supposed to be a simple task turned into a fight for your immortal soul and what could very well be the start of war for the Calixis Sector.

But perhaps you’re getting ahead of yourself there. After all, a story must be told in the proper order. Especially since Ignitrix isn’t the only one judging your delivery anymore.

Welcome to Khornette Quest.

If you’re a die-hard lover of canon, I suggest you turn away now. Like all things 40k, the gauntlet runs from “worshiping the printed word” to “over the top silliness.” Most of the time it’s somewhere in between. Others it swerves hard to one side and/or breaks this model entirely. You’ve been warned in advance.

Alternatively, if you’re not at all familiar with canon or want more details on something, just ask!

All rolls go against a specified characteristic in the style of Black Crusade. You’ll want to roll under the characteristic value in order to pass the check. The more degrees of success (every multiple of 10 counts as 1), the more awesome of a result. A 1 is a guaranteed success, and a 100 is a guaranteed failure.

Best of three rolls when it’s called for, with a 1 or a 100 instantly taking precedence. If multiple characteristics are being rolled for each 1d100 counts for its respective test. Any rolls prior to the call for one and those not linking said post will be ignored.

You may burn (i.e. gone forever) 10 infamy to completely reroll a check (i.e. three new 1d100). If you have above 10 infamy, you are allowed a single additional 1d100 roll for any check during a session.

Excessive meta/whining/waifu’ing/etc goes to another thread. Blatant Samefaggotry and overly lewd write-ins will be ignored.

As you look the Planetary Governor up and down you search for any signs that might tell you why he’s being so relatively calm. Any human mortal, save for a Grey Knight, Chapter Master, or Culexus, should be cowering in fear at your mere presence. And if not at yours then at Sytili’s or at the mention of the Inquisition itself. Something is very wrong here. Something very wrong indeed.

The only way you’re going to get a comprehensive answer is to either start ripping him apart or see if you can get him talking. For the moment, you opt for the latter. “If I didn’t know any better, Governor, you were expecting me,” you say.

He scoffs, rolling his eyes. “No. You think? Honestly if you had half a brain you’d realize you’re standing EXACTLY where I want you to.” After a pause, he adds, “Did you really think the entire PDF would just let you WALK in here like you did?”

You glance down at the floor and give it a good kick. No hidden trapdoors there. Another scan of the room doesn’t reveal any Marines or otherwise hiding in the shadows. If it weren’t for Sytili’s sudden look of concern you’d be ready to dismiss it all as bravado from the Governor.

Before you can ask the Tyranid what’s wrong, though, the Governor laughs. “Stupid daemon. Can’t even see what’s right in front of them. But that’s why you’re here. So I can end you and prevent what's to come.”

You ignore the little voice in the back of your head that’s screaming for you to kill him on the spot and devote your full attention to the human before you. At first he seems as normal as when you walked in: average height, average build, opulent clothes, the standard bureaucratic noble look. But then you notice the edges of his eyes. They’re glowing.

Carefully, you probe out with your mind and hit a wall. A wall so great that you immediately are reminded of a certain Lady of Change. This wall is different than hers, though. It’s still as powerful but lacks your favorite Bird’s signature. No wonder Sytili isn’t looking pleased. You’re standing in the presence of a hostile Lord of Change.

You’re already in motion by the time the Lord of Change begins to open his mouth again. Roaring in primal fury befit of your patron, you rush forward with your claws at the ready. The golden tips seem to leave trails in the air as you go. But you’re not quite fast enough to close the gap before the daemon in front of you unleashes a torrent of fire at you. You’re unfazed by the energies of the Warp washing over you. Mostly (-10 wounds).

Further enraged by the flames, you burst through the wave still alight and cleave at the human form before you. He moves out of the way, but not before you rip off his entire leg and toss it aside. In its place is revealed a mass of scales and feathers. Then he explodes in a massive blast of bright blue light.

>>
>>38139145

You’re thrown back into Sytili’s arms. Where the “human” once was now floats a true Lord of Change. Even though you’re taller than even Terminator armor, the daemon in front of you towers over you. Between its vast wings, long, crooked neck, and otherwise imposing form you wonder for a split second what Ignitrix is hiding underneath that tiny form of hers.

Still, you’re unperturbed by this turn of events. You leap out of Sytili’s hold only to catch yourself in place as another crack pierces the air. The Lord of Change shrieks in alarm as an unexpected psychic concussion washes over everyone present. You and you’re Tyranid friend weather the blast unharmed, but your adversary isn’t so lucky. His hook-beaked head is sent reeling back and forth as he falls to the ground and begins twitching. If you had to guess, it seems the so called “Master Plotter” didn’t account for the overabundance of Warp Energy in the surrounding area.

A helpless opponent is a target of opportunity. You’re not about to let “fair play” get in the way of you getting a few hits in. Especially since honor and the rules of combat went out the window the moment the blasted bird started using sorcery. No, you need to end this quickly before his true psychic potential is focused upon you.

To that end you once again charge forward and pounce onto the Lord of Change. It squawks in alarm and pain as your claws tear into his wings and send tendrils of dark, blue blood splattering in every direction. You manage to completely tear off an entire wing before your claws get stuck on something in the bird’s back. You struggle and struggle to get them free, all the while the Lord of Change is given an opportunity to recover. By the time you dislodge yourself and step back he’s already pulling himself together.

“So you thought to use your traitorous friend to help you?” he roars. Immediately he fires several more jets of twisting fire at you, forcing you to disengage. “Did you think the rest of us would just let you waltz in and ruin everyone’s plans? That’d we’d bow down to your will without a fight? No. No I shall end you now with the full fury of a true LORD. OF. CHANGE.”

And then the Governor’s villa explodes outward in a brilliant blue light.

You ever wonder just how incredible the ability create portals anywhere really is? Like, could any psyker destroy a planet by opening one end of the portal on a planet, and opening the other end in the middle of a star?
>>

The amount of time you'd need to actively channel that portal to glass a planet would almost certainly cause perils, or give you a stroke from overexertion.

>>38140322

>>38140396
depends on the star, depends where in the star the portal is, and even then you aren't going to transport enough gas in one second to destroy an entire damn planet, at best everything within a 100 foot radius. Also you'd kill yourself from that far of a portal distance.

A shimmering glare washes over you as you feel the world around you imploding. It seems that for once in its existence your natural forcefield has kicked into life. You glance right and see that Sytili’s weathering the detonation in much the same fashion. She stands resolute against the onslaught, as if this is just an everyday occurrence for her.

Which makes it all the more embarrassing when a flying piece of shrapnel comes flying through your forcefield, shattering it and knocking you to the ground. You’re not hurt by it but you are momentarily dazed.

“...Will you get up already!”

The sound of Sytili’s voice shakes you from your stupor. As you pick yourself up and glance around you see that the area around you has become a warzone. Where the Governor’s Palace once was is a massive crater. The Lord of Change, Sytili, and you are at the bottom of the depression. Around the edges of the bowl you can see Gaunts and the PDF alike clashing and fighting to get down to you. But what matters to you the most is the fact Sytili and the Bird are locked in a psychic duel. The two are exchanging lances of psychic energy. Most are deflected by their respective forcefields but you easily note several gaping holes in both Sytili and the daemon.

“WHY WON’T YOU DIE, WORM?!” shrieks the Lord of Change.

“BECAUSE FUCK YOU, THAT’S WHY,” returns Sytili. She’s then sent whirling to the crowd after a particularly powerful blast from the daemon. Still alive, but definitely hurt.

There are few things more terrifying than a frenzied Bloodthirster. But seeing as how there are no Necrons or Keeper of Secrets around you settle on being the most fear-inducing being in the current arena.

“NO ONE,” you bellow at the Lord of Change. “NO ONE HURTS HER AND LIVES.”

“Well it’s a good thing you’re not going to live much longer then! It’s your fault she’s hurt in the first place!”

Maybe that taunt gets to you. Or maybe you just still don’t see much point in dodging. Either way, you don’t even try to move out of the way when your next approach towards the feathered-daemon is met with another psychic barrage. He wasn’t kidding earlier when the kiddie gloves came off. These bolts tear through your right shoulder and leave a gaping wound (-15 wounds). You’re able to ignore the pain and blood loss as you finally get within melee range and slice at the Bird. Though with your now injured right arm you only get a single good hit in before you have to back off. Said hit is rather satisfactory to you though: you managed to leave a trail of deep gashes across the entirety of the daemon’s face.

“Is that it?” he asks. “Is this the BEST you have to offer? I could have sent a simple Flamer to deal with you!”

“Says the idiot daemon who knocked himself out!” you spit back, literally and figuratively.

“SILENCE!”

His hand swerves from being trained to you to come to rest in the direction of Sytili. She’s not recovered yet and the nearest gaunts are too far away to get to her in time. You need to act. Now.

>>38141168
Basically, the "we have a low BS" anons don't know how to stack boni in black crusade so a 30 turns into 120. That's why they always pick WS, even if the actual score given modifiers is -lower-.

>>38141130
[6} Use our chains to "adjust" his aim.
>>
>>38141214
She's a busy bird! Wait, Cinder, Acerea, and Sytili have been doing things for months, whereas Ignitrix has been doing things for about a week to a few weeks. Could Iggy have gotten those sisters corrupted yet?
>>
>>38141291

Is there a chart for that? It probably should be in the OP in the future if so. Otherwise yeah, people see that 68 > 16 and go for WS every time.
>>
>>38141400
Range modifiers go up to +30, then you get boni for being on "higher ground" (+10) or to hit an unaware target or one that's otherwise occupied. You also get +10 or +20 from aiming. If you properly line up a shot, you're looking at possibly +60 or more as a bonus.

Never mind simple shit like a red dot sight or a targeter that each give +10 BS, or a scope that eliminates range penalties.
>>
I probably should have reduced the number of options there but oh well. I'll chalk it up to "Cinder makes plans fast but only has time to pick one" or something.

Either way, we have a tie between a WS option and a BS option @ 3, with an S option right behind @ 2. Assuming I can count properly and including the write ins for their respective stats.

So... how about combining the WS and BS options? Would we be cool with that?
>>

Mkay. Combining it is!

That’s it. You’ve had it with motherfucking birds on this motherfucking plane. This ends now.

“I THINK NOT!” you screech as you lash out with your left arm. Golden chains made up of pure Warp energy explode outward from them like serpents. They hiss and swirl as they ensnare the Lord of Change’s arm, even going to far as to “bite down” once you pull back.

“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE…”

You cut the daemon off by ripping your arm back. With a sickening crunch, his arm comes free of his socket. As it spins in the air, still attached to your chains, a blast of force erupts from the palm. It sends the arm swirling into the ground and lodges it firmly next to you.

“I TOLD YOU, YOU TWICE CURSED SON OF A BITCH. NO. ONE. HURTS. HER.”

With that you dig your feet in and launch yourself at the wounded Lord of Change. Letting your chains dissipate, you level your clawed fist squarely at his face. So great is your anger and so powerful your rage that you completely shatter the forcefield surrounding the daemon (The -20 effect is now gone). Your punch sends crystalline shards of psychic debris sailing in every direction as it impacts the Bird’s beak.

Again the world explodes, but this time you’re at the epicenter. The Lord of Change recoils and writhes in pain as he throws you back off of him. You note that as you land that the crater is now twice as deep as before. And that Sytili seems to have safely found a bit of cover to hide behind.

Of course, the Lord of Change is still standing. And he’s not happy at all. “FINE. IF YOU THINK THAT’S ALL I HAD IN STORE, LET’S SEE HOW YOU SURVIVE THIS!”

“Cinder!” shouts Sytili from behind her rock. “Incoming mortar fire! It’s from the PD-”

Writing...

>>38142015

The Tyranid’s cry is cut off as you hear the telltale screech of falling shells. Still fuming and enraged, you turn to look up at the rain of destruction. It’s not a paltry amount of firepower. There’s probably enough ordinance hurtling towards you to level a city. But you’re beyond caring at this point. Those aren’t blessed shells and they sure as hell aren’t psychically charged either. This is a distraction at best. But for what?

You mull that over as you channel your fury into a wall of psychic potential. What little your forcefield doesn’t shield you from you’re able to weather without a single injury. Of course, once the dust settles, you’re more than aware of the fact your entire body is coated in cuts, gashes, and so forth (-11 wounds). Good thing you’re a daemon.

As the dust clears you scan around. Where Sytili was is a brilliant shield of psychic energy. You can’t see through it but the fact that it’s there means she’s probably fine. At this point all of the PDF and Gaunts in the immediate area have been blasted into oblivion. As for the Lord of Change…

“SO YOU LIVED THROUGH THAT? W-WELL OF COURSE! I EXPECTED AS MUCH! BUT IT’S GIVEN ME TIME TO DO THIS!”

He thrusts his good arm straight up into the air. High above him the walls between reality shatters. Out of the wound in spacetime comes the Blood Raven’s Battle Barge. Its hull streaming fire and littered with explosions, you have to admit it is indeed a much larger bullet than what the daemon used before.

You find yourself blinking slowly as the massive spaceship continues its descent towards you. A wave of calm washes over you, not diluting your rage but focusing it.

“Sytili,” you say, voice low. “Go.”

“But!”

“I SAID GO!”

You glare at her until you see the telltale sign of a hole being ripped in reality and her stepping through it with a sniff. A laugh to your left brings your attention back to the Lord of Change.

“Not going to run? So you aren’t a coward after all then! But it matters not! You will perish here and be banished to the Immaterium for good!”

You lower your head slightly and smirk. “You’d think that, wouldn’t you you stupid Bird. But you see, I’m not alone.” You point straight up in the direction of the Barge. “You’ve forgotten one very important thing.”

The daemon’s broken face turns upward on its spindly neck, eyes straining. “The Barge? What about it?”

“What was that earlier about not being able to see what’s right in front of me?”

His eyes widen, his remaining wing and arm twitching and flailing in alarm. “You’re fucking insane! Even for a daemon!”

“Aren’t I?”

---

On the other side of Fervious’ Moon, the Obscenity Engine finally finishes its firing sequence. The hull seemingly absorbs the surrounding space into it as all of its cannons charge. Then the entire ship rocks, unleashing death itself into the moon. The barrage tears a hole clean through the celestial body and continues onward. So careful are the AI’s calculations that the beams bifurcate the Battle Barge above you before plowing into the terrain in the distance.

Now with half a hulk screaming at you, there’s only one thing left to do:

You’re going to punch it into the daemon’s face.

See. that Exterminatus Bomb is in Iggy's private warp space. This is just a ship that this other Lord of Change just had in his possession. The fact that it's a Blood Ravens battle barge is just a red herring.

From a top a hill far away, Smithers the farmer watches as a chunk of metal plummets from the sky. A gigantic tremble in the ground signifies its impact, giving the man pause from chewing sunflower seeds. The wreck remains upright for a moment, then is sent hurtling perpendicularly away from the point of impact. It tears a trench as it goes and finally explodes with enough force to knock Smithers to his ass miles away.

“Heh. So the ol’ gal did it then. S’pose I should get a move on then…”

---

Deflecting the Battle Barge wasn’t an easy feat for you. In fact you nearly ended up crushed beneath it before you found a proper grip. You may be a daemon but that sort of thing is still borderline suicidal. You’re lucky you’re still in once piece. For the most part (-39 wounds) anyways. You note that one of your arms is missing (the one you punched the barge with in fact) and that half of your flesh has been stripped away. But that will heal in time. The perks of being a daemon and all that. Hopefully your counterpart’s just as bad off.

In the haze and ashes of the aftermath, you wade to where the daemon was standing. There you find only the Lord of Change’s neck and head. He coughs and begins cackling. “It matters not! I shall just come back until you are crushed beneath the true weight of fate!”

“No, dear. No you won’t.” You whirl around to see Acerea and Sytili standing behind you. The former is sporting a brand new form but you’re not overly concerned about that at the moment. She moves over to support you as Sytili walks past, right up to the Lord of Change’s remains.

>>38143818

“You two aren’t going to like this, but bear with me,” the Tyranid remarks. Her brow furrows, then the world turns yellow. It’s as if your connection to the Warp has been severed completely, like you were standing next to a full strength Pariah. Were you any more injured you might keel over right there.

“What is this?!” cries the Bird as Sytili picks up the wriggling neck and head. “How were you able to shift the Shadows of the Warp at will?!”

The Tyranid smiles and gouges out the Lord of Change’s eyes. “You honestly think that wasn’t the first thing I learned how to do? I knew from day one when Ignitrix came to me that I’d have to evolve a way to suppress it or ‘switch frequencies’ at will.”

“But! BUT THAT CAN’T HAPPEN!”

“Save it for someone who cares. Oh and have fun decorating Khorne’s throne.”

With that Sytili consumes the remains right in front of you. You hear the daemon’s screeches for several minutes before it finally falls silent. Then Sytili coughs up a cleaned avian skull and offers it out to you.

“I think this is yours.”

You reach out with the only thing you can (your tail) and push the skull back towards the Tyranid. “Nah. You keep it. I’m going to go wrestle with unconsciousness now, that slippery bastar-”

And then you faint.

Some time later you awake to find yourself floating upright in your bloodbath back aboard the Obscenity Engine. At first you wonder if it was all a dream. Whether you just conjured up a fight with a Lord of Change in your mind out of boredom.

Then Sytili breaks through the door and pounces on you.

“CINNNNDDDEEERRRR!”

The force of her leap sends the pair of you all the way to the bottom of the bloodbath. As she clutches you tight you notice that every part of your body is rebelling against the strain. It must not be too long after you passed out then. Just enough to recover superficially but not entirely.

When the pair of you surface you see that Acerea’s come into your quarters as well. The Plague Herald’s form is still strange to you, with its tendril-like roots, diseased and healing skin, and so forth. But not enough to matter. It’s still the Acerea you know and love.

“I tried to keep her from rushing in,” comments Acerea as she slips into the bloodbath. “But her new form’s surprisingly powerful. Sorry Cin~”

Hell yeah, specc her out as a Champion of Khorne with fully upgraded sweeping doom, spend all remaining points in Nurgle, point and kill. Switch on Sweeping Doom on a horde, hell yeah, everything dies. Additionally, upon becoming a Champion of Khorne, that alone causes her to outdamage both Alia and Conn'rey(note that a fully upgraded To Victory does more damage than sweeping doom, but is harder to aim across multiple units). Speccing the rest of your points as Nurgle turns Sytili into an unstoppable rape-machine that makes those two look like simpering pansies. (Note that spending one point on Tzeentch turns your heretics into walking batteries for energy, which means infinite zeal for Sonja and the ability to spam infection and accelerate metabolism for Acerea, but costs you the awesome power-booster that is the Khornate shrine.) And then, when you get Sytili a Daemon Sword, well, given the tremendously high damage she'll do with it, and from her auras, and her health leeching, any attempt to face her in combat will be met with said person being torn to bloody shreds in under a second.

“Of course. Especially since apparently I’m setting an example now.” You look down at Sytili. She’s still firmly attached to your abdomen, her tail wriggles causing small waves of blood throughout the bath.

“You’ll get used to it,” teases Acerea as she sinks lower. “But anyways. I think you’ll be happy to know that there’s no more trace of the Lord of Change or his cronies.”

“Yessss,” interjects Sytili. “While we brought you up here I had my flock ssslaughter anyone sssshowing psssychic potential. I left your milk-corrupted cultisssstsss alone bessst I could.”

“That sounds exactly like the kind of thing I SHOULD be getting worked up about,” you reply. “Just tell me what it is. Not like I’m in any state to go into a full-on rage.”

Acerea sighs. “As you wish. During our purging and reclamation, we (well Sytili really) came across an Astropath screaming and clutching his head in terror. Best we could tell, he’d been forced to send a message.”

“And that message would be…?”

“Fervioussss hasss fallen. Cinder hassss fallen. Tyranidssss are here…” answers Sytili from across the bath. “Along with sssseveral imagesss of my flock, you, and the Lord of Change.”

Acerea giggles. “You wouldn’t look good in purple. I’m glad you’re not livid though. I thought you might be.”

“Eh. I channeled all that rage into a certain Battle Barge.”

“It certainly made you ‘armlessssss…”

“Remind me why I keep you around again?”

Sytili stops moving about and smiles. Even her scything talons wiggle. “Becaussssse you sssecretly like the fact I do ssstuff Ignitrix doessssn’t.”

A grumble is all she gets from you as you sink lower in the bath, all the way to your horns. It was true. She may not be Ignitrix but damned if you don’t enjoy her company. But you could never say as much out loud to either the Tyranid or Daemon. It wouldn’t be Khornate of you.

So for the time you relegate yourself to mock-pouting in your own bath.

So on review, here's what I've come up with:

+ 5 to WS helps you in the short term but not the long term. Thus I'm awarding the 5 to BS. Side note: You think LIIVI's a pussy based on his writing style but that he has very useful advice about windage and what not.

Sytili will be awarded one Nurgle point and one Ignitrix point. The Nurgle one is for corrupting and eating an entire planet by proxy. The Ignitrix one is because she literally ate a Lord of Change and made that biomass a part of her.

Cinder's tsun as shit when it comes to admitting she's not entirely Khornate. The only thing more tsun is Iggy in general.

Personally I'm okay with it. If those two ARE going to be the next bigwigs they need to get along and adopt a new line of thinking. I mean, can you imagine an actual thinking and fury-directed Khornate? I shudder at the thought alone.

No, they're made of handwavium.

Yes I know it's not actually a thing in canon but Greater Daemons have some sort of mass to them even in realspace. Best I can tell anyways. I'd rather that Sytili didn't get stronger from eating daemons than give her bonuses.

Because, y'know, she'll wanna eat us one day to get more Khornate. It's the Khornate way to chase True Might, after all.

There's actually precedence for that in the form of Doom of Malan'tai. Sure it was Eldar souls/spirits it ate but the idea is the same thing here. Sytili "ate" the Lord of Change's soul and prevented it from reincarnating in the Warp.

Eh. It's possible. Guess we'll see. I doubt she'll actually do it though. Acerea's garden though? She'd eat that probably.
