You are Cenric, a Germanic noble who has returned from a diplomatic mission with Roman dignitaries. You have found your city in smoldering ashes and discovered that your people and your Queen, Rozalina, have all disappeared.

The only people you have found are Ema, Rozalina's handmaiden, and soldiers from the Chausci tribe.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Your anger fades, replaced with a somber compassion.

You take a small vial from your pocket and hover it over the soldier's lips.

"Here," you say in German, "Drink this. It will help you sleep."

The soldier smiles and opens his mouth. You pour the vial into his mouth. He swallows and looks into your eyes in a moment of clarity. His face grows serious.

"Be careful, sir. There is a storm coming soon, and it all has to do with the Priestess Queen who escaped before we got here."

You blink and look away. "Is.. Is Rozalina alive?" You turn back to ask the soldier, "What does this all have to do with her?"

The soldier looks to be in a peaceful sleep. He is already dead.

You stand up as Ema walks to your side.

".. Is it true?" She looks to you with hopeful eyes.

"I hope so."
>>
You approach the armory and grainery. In front of the armory, you see seven soldiers all sporting green sashes. Their arms are at the ready and they seem to be focusing on the door.

You and Ema slip out of sight while Berenger silently flanks.

"Come out, you filthy traitor!" One of the younger soldiers calls out. "We already burned your city down, do you think we won't roast you like a pig? After we find your whore of a queen, Germania will be free from those filthy fucking Romans."

An older soldier elbows the yeller, silencing him.

There's a tense pause.

The door to the armory slowly opens, and out steps Oskar with a great axe at the ready.

You can feel his fury from where you are at, and the younger Chausci soldiers take a step back in surprise.

"You call me a traitor?" Oskar voice is entirely calm.

The soldiers are silent.

"Are you implying that I am not loyal to Germania?"

More silence.

"Then who are you to come here and enslave your fellow Germans!" Oskar's roar causes one of the soldiers to visibly stagger and shake. "For this crime against our people, I will personally slaughter every last one of you!"

Oskar charges.

Any specific things you want to say/ask?

And I should've asked, do you want Ema to say hiding or not?
>>
>>38221189
Who sent them
How many are left
Did they take any prisoners
And the last direction they saw the queen or any large forces moving

I say keep her hiding and leaver her with the Dagger just in case any one else comes this way. We can signal her to join in later if anything
>>
>>38221289
Alright, writing now.
>>
"Oskar, halt!"

Before you step into the middle of the street, you pass your extra dagger to Ema and motion for her to hold there.

Oskar immediately stops and turns to you. A couple of the younger soldiers stumble and fall backwards while the rest turn to look at you.

The soldier who was talking about rebelling against Rome looks physically ill when he notes your red sash.

"I hope you know the punishment for assaulting a personal guard of a Diplomat of the Empire," you say while casually approaching them. "In case you ignorant fools forgot, though, I shall take on the responsibility of reminding you." You sigh with an arrogant air.

"I believe it was.. 500 lashings, a 2,000 gold fine that is applicable to your whole family, andbeing placed into bondage and escorted to the Colosseum."

You stand before the soldiers and stop before directing an apathetic glance in their direction.

"Where you would be fed to the bears, because you worthless piles of filth are more pathetic than the fodder from the starving slums of Athens."

You direct your attention at the increasingly queasy soldier.

"Now, if we were to add traitorous actions towards the Empire to your crimes.. Well." You grin, letting your cold fury be expressed through your eyes. "The destruction you caused to this city will pale in comparison to the annihilation Rome will call down upon you bastards."

You pause, watching as the soldier before you shake. The one you are locking eyes with begins to burst into tears and blubbering incoherent nonsense.

"How about you tell me where the rest of you yellow bellied bastards, my people, and the Queen are before I personally torture you for the rest of your measly existence."

The soldier you are staring at looks to be cracking. "T-t-they took them all to--"

"Wait, these are your people?"

The NCO snaps out of his fear and glares at you before noticing your shield. "And that there is the sign of the Traitor Queen! Men, ready your arms! We have pompous filth to clean up!"

The direct order shakes the soldiers our of their daze as they rally before you. Oskar roars once more and charges a soldier into the nearby wall.

Get angry, reeeally angry. Full german temper.

>>38222540
RAGE Mode:
When in combat, Cenric can enter RAGE mode. Think RAGE mode as going into a berserker state, only because of his personality it would be a COLD RAGE rather than Oskar's HOT RAGE.

This will make Cenric go into a berserker state similar to the fight scene in the first Downey Jr. Sherlock movie.

I will ask for 5 rolls, and any rolls that are in the range of 1-10 or 90-100 or are doubles are "CRITS."

The number of CRITS are how many rounds Cenric is in the berserker state, where combat is the sole focus. Pain, wounds, and other inconveniences are ignored until RAGE mode is complete.

In order to end RAGE mode early, you will have to roll 1d20 and make a Will save. The DC for this save will decrease by 2 from 18 with each round until RAGE mode is finished.

If the Will save fails, the DC will not decrease for that round.

Questions?
>>
>>38222727
Hmm, while we built him as a calculating person. You may want to give him a bit more heat in RAGE. We are from a people that were know for going full berserk afterall.

The traitors are accusing you of treason.

Your veins freeze, then begin to boil and froth. You focus. You whistle.

You unsheath your short sword and slice it across the soldier's face infront of you. He doesn't have time to scream before you bash your shield into the NCO, propelling him with enough force to topple 2 other soldiers.

You continue to slash and plunge the blade into the first soldier. You sever his sword arm at the elbow and impale his gut before you slam your forehead into his skull with enough force to smash his nose into his brain. You kick him off your sword and behead him.

You are already on the next one, a soldier with a spear and tall shield. You grin in perfect fury as you deflect his slow spear charge with your shield, slice off his weapon hand, grab the spear with your shield hand, spin and shove the spearhead through his throat.

Two down, Four to go. You see Berengar dive on top of the NCO and begin to maul his face off. Three to go.

The soldiers begin to scream in terror at a swordsman tries to run. You run faster, tackling him down and plunging your blade into his heart.

You start to cackle. Every one of these traitors will die. You will purge this filth from your lands.

The two remaining soldiers scramble to their feet, but Oskar rushes out from the destroyed wall and cleaves the both of them in half with a single swing.

The beheaded soldier tumbles to the ground.

You stand and see a line of Chausci spearmen march from down the street. You estimate around 20 men.

DC is 16

Roll 1d20. I will only take the first roll.

Fighting and retreating are both viable options, at least right now. In the future though...
>>
>>38223464
I say we fall back, don't break our rage yet. Its time to ambush some scrubs. Just like what happened in teutoburg forest. We need a few alive to tell us some info as well. Is there any building that is nearly collapsing that we can lure them into?
>>
>>38223464
Retreat. Discretion is the better part of valor
>>

>>38223721

I say we retreat and wait, don't break the rage yet. let it boil in us and use it to formulate a devious plan to kill the scum one by one. We Germanic night raiders now.
>>
You are currently in the Western district, where none of the buildings have been damaged by fire.

You can fall back to the Queen's palace.

Doing so will not break out out of RAGE mode, but it will use up a round, leaving you with 3 left.

Feel free to plan now, writing to retreat and regroup.
>>
>>38223807
Do we know the palace well? Are there places from which we can observe the enemy?

Lets fall back and watch them, if they split up we stalk and hunt. Leave bodies there to demoralize and cause fear.

This is exaclty what I was going to suggest we'll hunt them.
>>
>>38223896
I can back this

We should also make Ema hold our sash so rumors or stories of a Germanic warrior wearing The sash doesn't get out
>>
>>38223927
It might be beneficial to us if rumors were spread of a certain German wearing a sash who hunts and kills scrubs. that way we can embody what the germanics inspire, Terror
>>
>>38223994
Theres that but that paranoia might be bad if we need to go under cover again to get info, rescue someone, or stab a senator in the dick
>>
>>38224073
We could always take off our sash when we are doing that can't we? We could also paint our face and body with black paint or ash that the Suebi use while we are the sash warrior
>>
You have seen the carnage a good spear wall can do to charging infantry, and you would rather not be at the receiving end of that. Remembering the wholesale slaughter of the slave uprising from a few years back fills your heart will glee.

Berengar's growl brings you back to the present. "Oskar, Berengar, Ema, retreat to the Queen's palace." You make sure you are loud enough for the soldiers to hear. You turn and run through the increasingly narrow streets that lead to the palace.

You arrive in front of the palace. About a fourth of the palace is shattered by the catapult rock, creating a maze of unstable debris with plenty of hiding spots for hit and run attacks. The three streets approaching the palace from the western district are narrow, meaning the spearmen will likely become separated as they approach. You could also use the streets as choke point/ambush points.

The smoke, ash, and snow is thick enough to shroud your movements until you get up close.

Berengar, Ema and yourself are highly manuverable while Oskar is likely to be stuck in the first melee he is put up against until all the enemies are dead. You could use Ema as a lure because the enemy are only looking for two men and a wolf.

Many of the buildings are burnt out husks, meaning the taller ones can be easily toppled.

> What is your plan?
> I will answer any questions if I did not cover everything.
>>
>>38223896
You know this entire city like the back of your hand. You could be up against 100 men and bait and ambush them for hours, if you were careful.

Visibility is low, meaning you can get close. They are also wearing full equipment and thus are quite loud when they march.
>>
>>38224361
This is me, I'm not sure where my trip went..
>>
>>38224249
Anybody think they'll go for Ema if we use her as booty bait?
>>
>>38224249
We can find a weak group and set Oskar loose on them. The rest of the enemy will hear Oskar and send people to check it out. Thats where we come in, we will stalk the reinforcements can kill them while they are isolated. Ema will distract some of the reinforcements so that we have time to finish off our work and move on to them. Berengar will assist Ema as she runs circles around them, he will pick off targets of opportunity and vanish, causing panic and slowing them to give Ema time to reposition.
>>
>>38224249
>>38224559
Does Ema have anything she can chuck at them? slings? javelins?
>>
>>38224602
We could probably find some in the guardhouse
>>
>>38224559
There are 3 avenues of approach, and a group of soldiers on one road cannot move to any of the other roads because of the still burning buildings.

>>38224602
Ema does have a sling, as well as the dagger you gave her, but nothing else.

>>38224645
Going to the guardhouse would take up another round, regardless of who you send.
>>
>>38224712
>>38224559
They still can hear the screams of the dying, of course. Terror is a very potent weapon in this environment.
>>
>>38224746
Hmm so how does sending Ema out to Harass the spears with the sling from this direction while staying hidden sound?
>>
>>38224712
They'll find another way around won't they? I mean they have friends screaming for their lives, thats when we take them out, the longer the time they take the more time we have to let the terror set in. Hell if they take long enough, Oskar can move on to another group and they'll start hearing screams coming from another place. Ema and us can move by rooftops while we know the city better than they do, Berengar can go through windows. I'm not seeing a problem here, please clarify.

>>38224849
How about letting her screech and wail every now and then to spook them while they can't see her.
>>
So here's what I think the consensus is: separate the group among the 3 streets, yourself on one, Oskar on another, and Ema and Berengar on the last. Oskar will engage any forces he meets, inspiring terror to the other forces with the screams of pain and fury.

Cenric will strike in a hit and run style in the other street, using the concealment to pick off individual soldiers and bait them towards the palace.

The final 2 will do something similar, only with Ema acting more as harassment and distraction for Berengar's attack, while also drawing the enemy towards the palace.

By then Oskar should be done with his group and will fall back to the palace wreckage, where the next stage will commence.

Sound good?

>>38224928
You four can move through the buildings with ease, the enemy soldiers would be much slower. I guess the question is whether or not you want to kill them all in the streets or draw them to the Palace, I am assuming the latter is the popular decision.
>>
>>38224928
We still have to split them up though as a formation which they're maintaining the 20 spears are deadly.
>>
>>38225029
Yeah sounds good to me

>>38225056

>>38225056

I keep losing my trip, the sneaky bugger.
>>
You explain the plan to Ema and Oskar. They move to the northern and southern streets, leaving you with the center one.

You walk silently, moving through the burnt out hulks while using the falling snow, floating ash, and rising smoke to your advantage.

You are already half way back to the armory when you see the the group of spearmen, five in total. You stand in wait in the shadows as they march down the street in formation, spears out. You let them pass before following them back the way you came.

A battlecry resounds through the area and you hear Oskar engage with another group of spearmen. Your immediately begins to move towards the fighting, working their way through one of the buildings across the street from you.

You hear another roar and the sound of a person being thrown against a wall, then a sickening crack. The building the soldiers were entering began to collapse on top of them, causing them to scatter and run for the street. One of the spearmen get too close to your side of the street, and you appear out of the smoke behind him to slit his throat and slowly drag him back through the smoke.

The building collapses and blocks access to Oskar's street, leaving the rest of your group surprisingly unharmed.

"Thank the gods, that was a close one." One of the soldiers gasps out.

"Wait," another begins, "where did Edwin go?"

You flank around them in their confusion and stab another of the soldiers through the heart. You let the body fall and stand there for a moment while letting out a delightfully evil chuckle. "You traitors will get what you deserve."

The spearmen curse and begin to move into formation.

>>
>>38226006
It's mostly a choice how evil you want to be. Do you give them quick deaths, or do you make them suffer through terror and paranoia? They are traitors, after all, and giving them a quick death would be honoring them as equals. The soldier you found dying was an equal, he truly believed in his tribe's goal. These fools are not honorable, one of them insulted your Queen and claimed you were a traitor.

Little differences, yes, but all character defining.
>>
You see the fear etched in everything the spearmen do, from the way they huddle closer together than necessary to how they have to focus to keep their spears from shaking.

You find that absolutely hilarious and burst out into joyful laughter.

"You fear me! You cower behind your German shields, threaten me with your German spears, and wear German armor, but I see nothing more than a pack of traitorous dogs blighting Germania!"

The three men finish forming up and rush you, all stabbing their spears towards you. You casually step out of their range, laughing even harder.

"You are an insult to your mothers and a shame to your fathers! For that, I will bring justice to your family by ridding you from this world."

They slowly march after you, and you let them get just within spear range before dodging their thrusts.

"Starting with you!" You wildly point to the one on your left. "I am going to beat you to death with your own shield as your brothers can do nothing more than watch!"

"Like hell you wi-" The middle one starts before you cut him off.

"And you! I will purge you with fire and stare into your eyes as you burn to a crisp!" You giggle, a sound that causes them to falter in their march for a moment.

"Finally, you." You point to the last one. "You will be the only survivor from this slaughter. You will live and tell the tale of I and my comrades, and you will be the harbringer of terror to the swine who stole my Queen, the High Priestess of all of Germania, away from her rightful home! You watch in horror as everything you have ever known is torn down before you."

You dodge another of his thrusts and get in close to his face. "When you finally feel safe from my wrath, when you think I have forgotten about you, then is when I will find you."

He pushes you away with his shield and you use that momentum to tumble away from the soldiers, deeper into the ash, smoke, and snow.

>>
Back.

So we're going to publicly punish some of these traitors, tell Oskar to work with Ema, and continue to draw them in?

Writing, unless there's a countervote.
>>
Oskar arrives at the Palace not long after you do. You see that he is no longer furious and, while he looks tired, you believe that he can still fight effectively.

"These Chausci troops are weak, none of them stood back up after a building fell on them!" Oskar gives you an amused smile. Sating his bloodlust always put Oskar in a good mood, even when you were both children.

"Oskar, it sound like Ema could use some help."

He nods an affirmative. "Aye, she is a snarky one. I'm sure she has them all swooning to get after her tail!" Oskar gives a hearty chuckle before moving towards the northern road.

You can't help but genuinely smile and relax momentarily.

That moment passes as your group of spearmen walk into view. Your blood runs ice cold once more.

As you stand, Ema comes sprinting out from her street yelling, "What, you think you can catch me like that?" She stops and turns back towards her pursuers. "I promise, the first one of you lot who catches me gets 'special' treatment." She laughs mock flirtatiously before running into the palace.

Berengar bounds out of one of the windows. You note that his fur is far more mated with blood then the last time you saw him. He follows Ema deeper into the Palace.

Five soldiers round the corner, screaming a battlecry that would shake the most veteran Roman legionaire. The first spearman reaches the palace entrance only to be met with Oskar's axe. His axe swing flung him back into the rest of the soldiers, halting their charge.

"What do we have here?" Oskar steps out from his hiding place. "A bunch of ruffians chasing after a poor, innocent girl? I thought your mothers taught you better than that!"

You hear a "ding" and one of the soldiers begins to curse while holding his face. "Gods, that witch nearly took out my eye! I'll have my revenge with her, alright! After tying her down so she doesn't try to scratch my eyes out again!"

You can see blood pouring down his face. He must have been Ema's main target.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>38228753
Oskar's jovial demeanor dissolves after hearing those words. ".. Now I'll take great pleasure in gutting you, boy."

While Oskar charges into the fray once more, your group of soldiers run to regroup with their allies. You focus on the one soldier you said you would beat to death with his shield and slide in front of him. He trips and falls over your leg as you grab his shield, successfully wrenching it from his hands. You stand while dragging the soldier up by his hair.

"Oskar! Swing!" You call out as you bodily fling the man towards him. Oskar kicks away the soldier he was in melee with to spin around and slam the flat of his axe against the flung man's face.

The soldier wildly stumbles back towards you as you pounce on him. YOur cackling laughter rings throughout the town as to smash the poor fool's shield into his face again and again.

Another of the spearmen try to stab you from the side but you block with the shield and fling it into his chest. He stumbles back and falls into a pile of smoldering wood, only to reignite the fire underneath.

Your blood warms back to normal as you stare into his terrified eyes.

The last soldier from your group is staring at you, frozen in horror. You did promise he would live.

Oskar seems to be handling his group rather well.

Ah yes, my two players have returned!

What do you think of this quest so far?
>>
Of course, any specific questions we want to ask our sole survivor?

I'll be writing in a moment.
>>
>>38229065
I'm interested in it seems you always run when like 3 or 4 other big quest run also
>>
>>38229186
It's something I'll just have to live with. Hopefully more people will trickle in as the quest goes on.

Alright, interrogation time.
>>
>(I didn't ask for a roll this time because of the impact of your RAGE mode. Normally these types of discussions would require a roll, the first one was given to you because of your Roman sash.)

You whistle. "Ema, your boys looks like they could use some of your special treatment."

She comes sprinting out of the debris and jumps on the back of the soldier with the bleeding face, stabbing it wildly.

You walk up to the one you promised would survive. "What is your name, Chausci?"

It takes him a second to register that you are not going to skewer him and are asking him a question.

"I am Werner."

"Well, Werner, let us give my friends some space so we can talk." You clap your hand on his shoulder and walk into the palace room you found Ema in. As you close the door, the sounds of Ema's laughter and Oskar's roaring is muffled to a more manageable level.

"There we are. Take a seat Werner, and feel free to put your spear down. You're safe here." He follows your commands with an expression you can best describe as in shock. He sits in the only chair in the room, and you follow suit by sitting on the bed.

You sheath your blade and take a deep breath. "Killing traitors is tiresome, wouldn't you agree?" You continue before he can respond. "I am going to ask you a series of questions, and I expect honest answers from you. Do you understand, Werner?"

After a beat, he nods.

"Good! First, let's start off by telling me who your commanding officer is."

Another beat. "Gunther Guntherson."

You nod. He is one of Hermann's top generals in the Chausci tribe.

"Next, where is the rest of your regiment?"

Beat. "Returning home."

"What was your mission?"

"Retrieve the Queen, kill her advisor."

"Were you successful?"

Werner looks at you. "No."

".. Well, what happened to the rest of my tribe?"

"They were gone when we arrived."

"... What?"

"No one was here when we arrived. We were ordered to burn the village, look for survivors, then return home."

> [Cont.]
>>
"... So the Chausci tribe does not have Rozalina? Or the rest of this city?"

Werner remains silent. He seems to have devolved into a higher state of shock.

You're not sure you can get anything else out of him.

> What do?
>>
>>38229849
Hamstring him then we go on our way.
>>
>>38229849
Well I can't think of anything

Seems we'll need the commander to find out what in the orange fuck happened.

I was going to let him live because we promised him.

Buuuttt that was on the grounds that they stole our queen and he'd tell our tell. Since they didn't take her shank him

But first ask where's his commander
>>
>>38230225
Let's not shank him we gave our word lets just ham string/cut his achilles tendon.

He'll live but it's as good as a death sentence he'll never be able to get back to camp
>>
>>38230225
You can assume that his commander is with the rest of his army, marching back towards Chausci territory.

Something about his story doesn't line up either. Why would Chausci soldiers be ordered to find your Queen? They are obviously involved in some way, but there's a second faction who is involved. The Chausci's are still obviously hostile to your tribe, but you do have the advantage of being an unknown.

(The general and other leaders would recognize you if you approached them openly, of course, because of your status. But we seem to be a rather sneaky bastard on top of everything.. Who knows what you could pull off?)

Another odd thing you noticed: Rozalina did not go into battle, nor was there any evidence of a battle before you arrived. If the Chauscis were to have invaded she would have fought.

Also, the soldiers do not seem to be entirely in the know as to what their goals are. The fact that your people disappeared without any sign of a struggle is also odd..

Something is afoot, and the Chausci leadership could know more.

Any more questions? I'll just remind you of in character knowledge, of course, but I think it'd be good to clear some stuff up now.
>>
>>38230327
I can dig it

>>38230463
Ask him how large the army was

We may not piece the puzzle together with him. We'd have to get at their leaders but they're guarded by an army. Whose our known allies among the remaining tribes?

It seems like they were caught completely off guard which is highly doubtable or they had to flee immediately
>>
Also, writing.
>>
You still have one more thing to ask him.

You stand up and approach Werner, who doesn't react to your presence. You will just have to change that. In one quick motion you pick up his spear, twirl it around, and stab it into his left heel. Werner howls in pain as you follow up with a kick to his side, knocking him onto the ground.

"I have one more question Werner. How large is your army? 5,000 men?"

Werner glares at you in fury. "I'm done answering your questions."

You twist the spear, making Werner grunt in pain as tears come out of the corner of his eyes.

"Werner. Tell me."

He laughs at you. "It doesn't matter, you will never be able to touch Gunther! He has 25,000 men who are more than willing to protect him with their lives!" He spits at you. It lands on your red sash.

".. Thank you for the information." You withdraw the spearhead from his ankle, twirl the spear once more, and slam it across Werner's face. He collapses against the floor, unconscious.

You leave break the spear in have and walk outside. You find that Oskar and Ema have finished up the rest of the men nicely. Ema brightens up when she sees you and stands up from looting one of the bodies. "These guys had some pretty basic armor, and their weapons aren't a thing to write home about! Nothing we should take along with us, is what I'm saying."

You pause for a second. The meaning of what she just said hits Ema after a moment. "Oh.. Shit, that wasn't... Ah, nevermind!" She fights off a dour expression by holding up a sack. "I found a couple hundred gold on these guys. It seems like they just got paid, which is good for us!"

You smile at her. "Good job." You turn to Oskar. "Well, what do you think we should do next, brother?"

He turns to you from looking off across the city. "Oh, hm.. I think we should return to our home."

> [Cont.]
>>
"I saw that it wasn't damaged by the fire. By the Gods, none of the noble district was licked by flames! It's a miracle, I say."

Not a single house in the noble district was even damaged? That's.. definitely a miracle.

"Anyway, there we can talk about our next move and rest for the night, I say." Oskar stretches his bad. "Killing traitors to our Priestess is fun and all, but I didn't expect to take on so many."

"Alright Oskar, let's go."

You walk to the Bearcaster estate.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The inside of your family house is completely unchanged from when you last left it. Odd, you think, soldiers are normally allowed to loot their fill when razing a city..

You go to your room while Ema washes Berengar and Oskar goes to pick up his armor. Inside is a chest containing your personal armor and your personal weapon, made the day you officially became a man. You smile when you remember how much Roza teased you about how you were "finally growing up" a year after she underwent the coming of age ceremony.

You shake your head and go to take out of the chest:

I'm curious, what type of person do you see Cenric as? The cold and calculating part is down pat during battle, but out of battle/with friends is still up in the air.

>>38231963
Welcome back! Take all the time you need, this is a rather big choice. This will be all the gear you will have for a while, so choose carefully. (Not that you won't have access to other stuff, this is just what will be personally yours for the foreseeable future.)
>>
Remember, you still have Rozalina's shield with her Hawk on the face of it. It's similar to the one in >>38232066 , just perhaps of higher quality due to her royal standing.

You do not have to use it in battle, but you do have it.
>>
>>38232071
Question, how romanized are we? What is the time period?
>>
>>38232071
So far I see him as calculating, honorable, with a hidden sadistic streak when push over his edge from what we see during his RAGE. He was a diplomat to Rome so he naturally has charisma and intelligence probably some skill in picking up lies you need that to not get shanked in Rome.
>>
>>38232180
The year is 7 A.D., as said in the quest title. We are quite romanized, as this is before the big battle that made Rome stop most of its expansion.

Anti Roman resentment is high, but officially Germania is a Roman ally. They have trade agreements, alliances, and other political stuff among a good number of the tribes.

Rome is a very big deal, and it is entirely possible that they are a player in this quest in some way.
>>
Cool llooking quest ya got here.I'll second >>38231928 this

>>38232254
Yeah, this is definitely how I see him.

I think I'm going to end the quest here tonight. I've been writing for about 7 hours, and that's pretty intense for a new QM like me.

I can probably run tomorrow at around 4 EST, if that time works for you all?

I'll stick around for conversation, Q/A, and finishing off this armor decision.

Alright I've got some
> Type of armor
> [] Write in
Celtic chainmail, a lot of germans used celtic or roman armor and weapons due to the lack of iron in the area.

Since we are a diplomat to Rome, we probably have a roman auxilia helmet given to us as a gift or something.

We would have a celtic cloak for the weather and status.

> Type of weapon (Feel free to come up with a name!)
> [] Sword (Great, long, short, etc.)

Since iron is relatively rare, we would have a seax. Its within reason to have a gladius or spatha depending on how important we are or how much we deal with the romans.

> If you like, you may have a ranged weapon as well!
> [] Other
Spears, throwing spears. The backbone of the germanic people of the time is the spear.

>shields?
Probably a germanic hide shield in the pic, with a boss for bashing. Don't wanna ruin the priestress's shield now
>>
>>38232596
Nah we gottah return it covered in the blood and gore of her enemies.

It's tradition.
>>
>>38232582
I'll post when I'm running on the Twitter bird.

Feel free to chill out and talk about whatever, I'll still be here into the night.

>>38232596
Those are all good points. If the rest of the players want to discuss some of these weapons, that'd be fun.

Quick question: What attracted you to this quest?
>>
>>38232429
>>38231928
>>38232066
We don't have greatswords during the time period. The closest to a greatsword would be a rhompaia. The closest to a longsword would be something as long as a spatha, which is not very long.
>>
>>38232657
I got no idea man, probably the time period. Always wanted to play a quest in the hectic period after the fall of rome but this is good as well.
>>
>>38232657
I like you writing and I'll admit to always loving the Germanic people during this time period. Interested to see where you go with the setting

>>38232720
I was initially thinking of running a quest during that time, but I prefer the idea of a strong Rome over a weak Rome. Now, Augustus Caesar is still in power and Rome seems invincible. The only reason they were stopped is because Varus is a dumbass and lost 3 legions.

>>38232727
Thank you! I have a lot of plans, plots, and schemes to sprinkle in everywhere. I like how free this time period is to play around in, I'm not super constricted in what I can do with the world.

>>38232254
Honestly, you guys completely surprised me with your decisions. I was expecting more of the hotblooded berserker. Then again, I think this will make for a far more interesting quest!

Another question: Did you feel the RAGE mode was done well, in writing style at least?
>>
>>38232928
I atleast thought it was well done considering we went with COLD.

Showed Cen to be a bit of a sadist when he gets mad and considering the circumstances surrounding his RAGE, him losing hope, and hearing the Chauvsi insult his home and queen it was to be expected IMO.
>>
>>38233153
I'm happy to hear that. I think COLD just fit Cenric better. There is another mechanic I want to introduce, perhaps next time, that runs in tension with the RAGE mode.

Here's a hint: it's based off of religion, and in the Germanic sense, nature.
>>
>>38233370
Oh shit we Shamans now? Calling on our ancestors?
>>
>>38233452

Maybe..

Yes, Shamans will be a thing. Cenric himself won't be, because he's already overpowered as it is. General, Diplomat, Rogue? If we add anything more I would accuse him of being a mary sue and work to nerf him.
>>
Wait, I just realized..

We didn't come to a decision about what equipment we're wearing..

Should I just open the next thread with these posts? I think I'll do that..
>>
>>38233729
Yeah, that'll be best because Ambush Anon dropped an info bomb on the weapons at the time here >>38232596
>>
>>38233809
Alright, it seemed like everyone was getting tired as well.

Any particular favorite moment in the quest so far? There was a lot of killing dudes this thread, and that was fun for me to write.
>>
>>38233853
I'd say mine was when he entered cold rage and when he picked off the soldiers pursuing him.
