Rolled 1 (1d5)

You are Shee Hyul, rebel leader, psychic and Reunited. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.

You’re heading back at the Waystation after your meeting with Breaker. Meeting with one of the Reunited who doesn’t want to kill you or use you in some crazed plot was a welcome change of pace.

Through your mental contact with Rainya you learn that whilst you were out meeting with Breaker she managed to manifest another body, meaning you’ll have to deal with 5 Rainyas when you get home...

A quick check of your comm shows you have a message from Yonsul saying she has information on the lady with the spider legs.

You’ve got a lot to do, but what do you do next?

Shee's To Do List

1. Go after Kulrathe and/or his officers (plan?)
2. Talk to Garrax (reunited)
3. Seek the favour of one of the Five (which?)
4. Contact the Rebellion (about what?)
5. Research the Fae Court/Palace, is there a way in?
6. Make some more stuff for your Realm
7. Take Research Facility back (how?)
9. Talk to Yonsul
10. Go after Jade Crimsonthorne

Or

>Other (what?)

[Meta]

XP use for Rainya and Kaelyn used from last thread.

There is extra XP pending from work done by AA, I’m still reading through it currently

[End Meta]

With 5 bodies Rainya reduces a seers chances of predicting your movements to 20%

Don't mind me, just rolling a d5

>>
>>38264097
Or we could just bring a Rainya with.
We should do that
>>
Does mental contact with Rainya mess with spider-bitch's predictions? I thought she needed to be standing near us. Can't see it in ally powers section.

9. Talk to Yonsul. Mirror bitch is main threat right now. Kulrathe's threat is dispersed amongst all the Reunited.
>>
>>38264139
>Does mental contact with Rainya mess with spider-bitch's predictions?

Yes
>>
>>38264104
It would actually be a even better protection, since she is more likely to scry on Shee then on Rainya or Yonsul.
Its just making sure, 1/5 are decent but not exactly perfect odds.

>>38264139
Since we could talk to any Rainya, and the way it works, I'd think so.
>>
>>38264153
Should we strive to have a Rainya each with each of our allies?
>>
>>38264172
Probably better to keep all our allies close as possible, since Rainya does get malus on all rolls from being divided.
>>
>>38264172
Not a bad idea
>>
>>38264197
As long as they have a Rainya
>>
>>38264224
There could be just one Rainya for the entire group and four with us, and It'd be the same thing.
And significantly better in case fighting actually happens.
>>
>>38264245
Doesn't it give her a 4 in 5 chance to scry us correctly. I think I need to read last thread again...
>>
>>38264259
The whole thing is rather vague, and the way it works mechanically doesn't really add up with the way its explained.
For example, we get the full protection if we have 5 Rainyas around while talking to Yonsul, even though all Rainyas would be around to hear the same thing.

Just roll with it, I guess.
>>
>>38264278
I will, if cthulhu mom says it works like so, so be it
>>
>>38264278
Its just that the power doesn't actually duplicate the possibilities through each Rainya.
It just multiplies it by the number of Rainyas in existence, it doesn't really matter much what they do.
Otherwise the enemy could just scry Shee herself, and being near Rainya would make no difference if it would just switch between Rainyas 'actual' activities.
>>
>>38264278
>>38264303
Thats the right attitude, just trust in Sea Mom.

You send a text to Yonsul saying you want to meet her and you arrive at the Waystation just moments after she has arrived. One of the wait staff tells you which room she is in, and that she has just ordered lunch. You head up to meet her.

“Well I found her” says Yonsul without preamble, as you sit opposite her “Or I think I did anyway. That sort of cybernetic enhancement is rare and once you factor in her gender and appearance it narrows the field a lot. There is in fact only one woman matching the description you gave in Hive 39. Jane Vindell, age 29, lives on Level 38” Yonsul gives you her address “Her late husband was an investment banker of some kind, about 30 years older than her, she was his second wife. He died about a year ago in an accident, circumstances were suspicious enough that she was investigated, but there wasn’t enough evidence to say that she killed him, even though he *was* having an affair so she was never charged. She had the implants put in shortly before he died.” Yonsul hands you some printouts with Ms Vindells contact details, as well as a list of known associates, favourite places and shops she frequents, and her doctors details. The file includes a photo which matches the appearance of the woman you saw.

“Thanks Yonsul” you say “you’ve been a great help, really, thank you.”

“I’m glad to help” she says, shaking her head sadly “sorry I couldn’t do more.”

Inside you the ball of rage and grief grown from Ashs threatens to overwhelm you, you push it back down “you’ve done plenty” you say “this is more than enough, really.”

“Its strange though” says Yonsul “her getting a modification that’s usually only done on the sort of people who work on maintaining and repairing the Hive exterior – I mean the whole point of those legs is to be able to climb anywhere as well as having extra *hands*, why would the wife of a rich banker get that? And where? Her regular doctors notes don’t list the clinic she got the mod at.”

You shrug “maybe I’ll find out”

“Yeah” says Yonsul, as her starter arrives she starts eating “you wanted to know anything else?”

As dhampir she can't make blood into vitae, they need vampire blood.

The poison custom ammo don't actually come with the poison, that comes separately, so I was thinking that we could get some poison rounds and then grow some kind of really nasty poison plant and use that for the round.

>>
“Anything more on Kulrathe, Garrax or Jade?” you ask hopefully.

Yonsul responds “Garrax no, as far as I can tell, he’s just tending to his business, legal and otherwise. His comm bill spiked massively a few days ago though. It seems he’s been sending a lot of messages offworld somewhere but without a warrant I can’t read what he sent.” Who could Garrax be talking to off-world that might be a danger to you?

“Kulrathe” Yonsul shakes her head in frustration “I have to be careful there, but it seems like he’s gearing up for something, he’s requisitioning a lot of long-distance vehicles, especially ones hardened for deep-desert use and enough desert gear for a hundred or more people, his own assault crews plus support staff. There was a report from an orbital monitoring station about an unidentified craft or crafts, landing about four hundred miles away. If he’s after that I don’t know why, it should really be the military’s thing.”

“And Jade?” you ask.

Yonsul shrugs “What can I tell you about her?”

You nod.

“Rich girl” says Yonsul “a long list of arrests for the usual stuff, drinking, public order offenses, stuff like that, but unlike many rich vamp kids Jade has quite a few arrests for illegal mental influence – most kids stop doing it, or stop getting caught after the first time and their folks yell at them. Hell, Jade almost did prison time after making a guy walk in front of a car and nearly die, but the Crimsonthornes offered him enough money to forget his injuries. Seems she likes messing with peoples heads. As for her friends, who she hangs around with? I can’t say, her last arrest was over a year ago so anything in the file could be out of date by now.”

“Well thanks anyway” you say “that’s plenty for now.”

“Alright” says Yonsul. You stay and chat with her as she eats her lunch and bitches about her job. After finishing her lunch, Yonsul says goodbye and is on her way.
>>
In the back of your mind Rainya asks –So, are we going after her now?-

-Maybe- you say –But is she’s a mage with precognition or whatever, then her home will likely be full of traps.-

We can't visit Hell without disturbing Hell Dad yet, since our only route there is trying to contact him. Even that might've just been because he was too busy in Hell to not have a part of himself in Hell for a second.

I don't think disturbing him to find out more about a scrub demon is a good idea, and we can find shit out through non-scrub sources.

The question is, do we wait for Tenley to get the info we need, and go after the Syrnians in the meantime, or do we try to scout out our enemies home?
It sounds like Garrax has been in contact with the Syrnians, so taking care of them or at least getting info about their situation, might be prudent.

Jane Vindell can’t be maintaining her implabts herself, and even if sge is you think, she must have had someone put them in. If its not listed in her doctors notes, then perhaps she had it done illegally?

You head down the kitchen to see Tenley massacring some vegetables, dicing them rapidly into tiny pieces, he’s good with his knifes.

“I’d like to ask you about something” you say “if I’m not distracting you too much?”

He grunts and looks around for Gambon, who is across the other side of the kitchen berating some of the other chefs.

With a sigh Tenley says “what?”

“I need to know about clinics that implant cybernetics” you say “specifically, those that do so outside the law.”

Tenley sniggers “fancy an upgrade do you?” he gestures towards your modest chest with his knife, why that little-

“No” you say after taking a moment to calm yourself “I need to know which ones can do a complete rebuild of the lower body into spiderlegs.”

“Ah high-rise mod” says Tenley “not much use for that and most of the workers get the mod paid for by their employers, yeah there’s a few, why?”

“I need to know which one did the mod for a particular person, and find out what they know anbout this person” you say “how would I find that out?”

Tenley stops chopping vegetables and gives you a frank look “I can find out” he says “but it’ll cost money to bribe the right people, say maybe, 50k estimate, and it’ll take a few days too.”

Give Tenley 50,000 credits to find which the chop-shop that gave Jane Vindell her legs, and what they know about her?

Because multi-god Reunited like us are theorized to be uncommon, so it's somewhat likely she was a devotee of the Mirror before Avatarhood, though possible she wasn't.

More relevant, what god would she even have gotten it from? Artifice could only give us cybernetic implants because of our Impossibility domain.

I'm not sure, but if we aren't, the risk is present and near-pointless due to the fact that the surgeon probably doesn't have anything worthwhile for reasons I mentioned, and if we do, then the information is meaningless since we didn't need it.

Even if she hasn't mind-wiped him, she would when she saw the future that Tenley would get info on her from her surgeon, because precog.

You link minds with Lirael and head out with Rainya and Kaelyn, after Kae covers you all in an illusionary disguise. Rainya leaves one of her duplicates back at the restaurant.

You approach the address Sergeant Yonsul gave you for Jane Vindel. It’s high up in the Hive in a very clean-looking neighbourhood. A lot of the houses are large and ornate, some of them looking very old. Many of the driveways each have one or more expensive cars even in mid-afternoon, this is the sort of place where loiterers are noticed quickly and any crime means the police will arrive in minutes. How the other half live eh?

An old lady, walking a tiny dog that yaps incessantly, gives the three of you a dirty look and mutters something about “gangs moving in” and hurries past you.

The Vindel residence is no different, surrounded by a high wall and sturdy-looking gates. A box on the side of the house boasts the effectiveness of its alarm system and tinted windows make it difficult to see what’s going on inside the place, clearly the resident values her privacy.

Still, you’re in luck the house opposite hers is empty right now, a quick scan of the place reveals no minds present and no chaos magic beyond the a simple privacy ward. Its garden is protected by thick undergrowth and high hedges – a perfect place to conceal the three of you whilst you watch the Vindel house.

“That’s a lot of magic” says Kaelyn conversationally as the three of you lurk in the bushes.

“Yeah” you agree, whilst trying to get a feel for the place with your own senses even as you experience Lirael playing hologames back at the Waystation.

You can sense a lot of magic on the Vindel house, lots of different auras, too many to easily puzzle through.
>>
>>38265284
There's currently a 20% chance every couple posts that MirrorA figures out what we're doing and starts counter-planning. A five-fold increase in blocking MirrorA's abilities is well worth losing out on her perception rolls while she follows us around.
>>
Kaelyn breaks some of them down for you “detection spell, alarm, another alarm, anti-scrying spell, explosive trap, teleport trap, mind-wipe trap, alarm, some sort of summoning trap...” She lists too many for you to count, either way the message is clear. That building is well protected.

“I can see someone moving inside” says Rainya “but not any details.”

“Same” says Kaelyn, both of them peering at a figure that occasionally walks past a window.

You can see far clearer however, there’s only one person in the house and it looks like Jane Vindel, spider legs and all. She’s just doing...normal stuff. As you watch she finishes a sandwich and washes the plate in the sink, sits reading from a datapad and performs exercises as shown by a holo. Just normal everyday boring stay at home stuff that a woman living on her dead husbands wealth might do. Could this be an illusion? Or an act to draw attackers in?

You continue to watch as you reach out and probe the minds of the residents of nearby houses. They’re full of concerns about themselves: do their husbands or wives still love them, are they getting fat, will that bitch next door ever stop making eyes at their husband, small worries from your point of view.

You start looking specifically for information about Jane Vindel, it’s not much: Quiet, polite, keeps to herself a lot, seems she never got over her husbands death all that time ago. Keeps odd hours sometimes. I could have sworn I saw her in her kitchen one day and then not two minutes later she’s walking down the street headed home, huh, I must be imagining it, why does he have those legs, so strange, still, she is grieving. She is up late a lot, trouble sleeping? I know a great therapist maybe I should recommend him to her?

As you do this Kaelyn and Rainya keep an eye upon the house. Jane Vindel goes about her normal activities.

>>
You’ve seen enough, whatever is in there isn’t Jane Vindel, it’s an illusion or a duplicate or whatever, just there to fool the neighbours. The hard knot of emotion in your chest that you didn’t want to acknowledge eases a bit, as much as you want to burst in there, guns blazing, it would accomplish nothing, and just give Lord Reaper the excuse he needs to hunt you down.

“I’ve seen enough” you say to Kaelyn and Rainya “I can watch over this place at a distance now, let’s go.”

“Aren’t we going to capture her?” asks Rainya

You shake your head “no point” you say “it’s an illusion or a double or something else, it’s not really her, when I kill her it has to count, it has to be real, this...this is nothing. I’ll watch this place just in case she visits to maintain the spells here but for now, lets go home.”

You slump a little in defeat, you were hoping for a quick victory over Ashs murderer, but it was not to be. You feel Liraels concern for you through your joined minds. Rainya puts an arm around your waist and you all head back to the Waystation, feeling only disappointment.

Back at the Waystation you head down to speak to Tenley, releasing the gestalt you have with Lirael.

You find Tenley threatening one of the chefs in the kitchen for cooking something the wrong way, after Tenley has finished haranguing the poor man he sniffs at your presence and beckons you to follow him into the pantry “changed your mind huh?” he asks.

“Not about that no” you say, adding “a few days ago there was a lot of mercenaries and gangs in an ambush low-hive, what can you tell me about it?”

Tenley shrugs “The vamps” he says “the oubliette or whatever they are called, they bring a lot of off-world muscle with them weeks ago as *security*, the gangs they hire a few days ago, they attack someone, a lot of people die, the vamps and their soldiers leave, the gangs...go back to being gangs.” Hmm, seems like the shadow vampires were doing most of the underworld stuff, still, it might be a connection to the follower of the Mirror, weak as it sounds.

“Which gangs?” you ask Tenley, he gives you a few names, places they hang out at and then goes back into the kitchen.

You grab Kaelyn and Rainya again, Kaelyn covers you all in illusions of tough-looking street thugs, the kind of guys people do *not* want to mess with. Though you don’t have much to fear from an ordinary gang, three teenage girls don’t present an intimidating front. Constantly fighting off would-be assailants will get tiring after a while.

You swagger out of the Waystation and start asking around, trying to find out anything you can about the whole ambush.

You spend the rest of the day looking up the different gangs Tenley told you about. Most don’t know anything about any *Spider-legged bitch*, or are too difficult to find. One gang however, the Iron Hawks, is all too eager to see you, finding their hideout and talking to their leader isn’t the problem, it’s how things go after that...

The leader of the Iron Hawks, a bulky tough named Rengel is willing to trade information about *that bitch* in exchange for...

“You tell me about the red-haired bitch that took out my boys that day, and I’ll tell you everything I know about that freaky spider-bitch” says Rengel.

You’re in a rundown building in Rengels *place of business* around you are a half-dozen guys all carrying guns, and their logo of an iron hawk does look familiar, yes, just like the ones you and Rainya killed.

You Rainya and Kaelyn are there looking like very tough guys.

“Well I always insist on meeting whoever hires us just in case they crazy right? Well I meet with the freaky vamp, off-worlder ya know, and there’s the spider bitch wit him, so I start asking questions about who we fighting, what they armed with shit like that. His answers don’ make a lotta sense but I need ta know, anyways, the bitch starts giving him attitude ya know? Like why we gotta hire all dese trash? bitch is dumb anyway, I ignore her cuz hey, ain’t my bitch, an’ he paying money, so I nod an’ I smile as she calls me trash. Anyway, he musta lost his temper or somethin’ cuz he turn on her and he give her a smack so fast I din’ even see him move and she fall down and don’t move, now I know her neck broke, I heard it snap. But even dead this bitch still talking” he affects an upper hive accept “very mature, I can just make a new one” he continues his tale “anyway tha freaky off-world vamp don’ like that so he says to her *I can still reach into the Astrobleme and pluck you out* well this getting kinda freaky so I take my cut of the cash and I head out, next thing I know, lots of my boys dead, my advice is this: Don’t let the spider-bitch hire you, she trouble man, she trouble!”

That doesn’t really tell you much that you don’t already know but Kaelyn twitched a little when he said *Astrobleme* so maybe she knows what that is.

“Did the bitch hire anyone else?” you ask. Rengel shrugs and starts listing off gang names. As he does you carefully reach into his mind and chip away at his desire to see you dead, convincing him that you’re too much trouble for him to want to have to deal with.

Once that’s done you ask “other than the attack though, has she hired anyone for other stuff, like guards?”

Rengel shrugs “Dunno” he says “No Iron Hawks tho, thas for sure.”

“Aight” you give him a nod and are on your way. Once you are far enough away you ask Kaelyn “Astrobleme?”

“It’s a canyon” she says “A big one, I read about it in school, supposedly started by a falling asteroid, and then carved out by water long ago.”

“Water?” you ask “Apollyon has always been-”

“Dry I know” says Kaelyn “but my teachers are convinced that once, it wasn’t. Anyway the Astromobleme is a deep Canyon, maybe a half-mile down, a few miles wide in places, and over 200 miles long. In the depths there are some odd creatures living. My father said that sometimes they dump the failed experiments there, new types of beastmen and such.”

You nod glumly, a massive canyon full of monsters in which a mage lives who can see the future. Still, at least you know where she lives, you hope. “Where is it?” you ask Kaelyn

“About six thousand miles away” says Kaelyn “give or take a few hundred? I can show you on a map.”

Its late evening as you head back to the Waystation and you’re all feeling hungry.

1. Go after Kulrathe and/or his officers (plan?)
2. Talk to Garrax (reunited)
3. Seek the favour of one of the Five (which?)
4. Contact the Rebellion (about what?)
5. Research the Fae Court/Palace, is there a way in?
6. Make some more stuff for your Realm
7. Take Research Facility back (how?)
9. Talk to Yonsul
10. Go after Jade Crimsonthorne
11. Head to the Astrobleme (hunt Jane Vindel)

It is assumed that you will be doing the chosen task tomorrow morning, unless write-ins indicate going tonight.
>>
>>38266913
>11. Head to the Astrobleme (hunt Jane Vindel)
Unless Kae can hand out darkvision to everyone, we kinda have to do it tomorrow.
>>
>>38266904
that explains the legs
>>
If Rainya got FotDM, Flight 15, and maxed out Duplication+Plurality then she could turn into 500 90m tall sea monsters that fly around at just under mach 2.
>>
>>38266913

Can we give dev a budget to trick out his warmech? Sounds like things ahead may get dicy.
>>
>>38266913
>11. Head to the Astrobleme (hunt Jane Vindel)
>>
>>38266949
Sure you can, but it will take him time to get the parts and trick it out
>>
>>38266949
We can't really bring Dev.
Lirael can carry Kae and Rainya if it comes to it, but not the warmech.
And I wouldn't like to have to leave him behind.
Unless he finds way to give the mech flight very fast.
>>
>>38266904
>“Water?” you ask “Apollyon has always been-”
Cmon, Shee. You heard Mom say that she was going to have you bring the oceans *back* if you'd taken her deal instead of Baalzi's. You know that there were oceans.
>>
and by miles, Kaelyn meant kilometres
>>
>>38266982
I think when we talk about "hundreds" that isn't really a relevant difference.
>>
>>38266971

Well, we can buy more hp for him, and bring him with rifle + sword + armor, which would help. His armor is pretty robust.

Otherwise, we wait till psychics and let adaption get him like 30 more hp with mastery.

Toughness x3 and some straight hp is about the only way to do it currently.
>>
>>38266913
>Ask favour from mom
We need water
>>
>>38266982
Can Adaptive Mutation grow us wings when we fall, or just something to float with?

>>38267002
Buying more Hp for him is pretty ineffective, his Armour is already very good, carrying him will be a problem, although if absolutely necessary, Lirael could carry all of them.
Its just that without the warmech, Dev doesn't do anything relevant for the upcoming fight.
>>
>>38266913
>>38266926
Before we forget it again
>Have Shee fill her vitae pool with blood fruit
We are going to need the extra PE
>>
>>38267021
>Its just that without the warmech, Dev doesn't do anything relevant for the upcoming fight.

He is still a sniper and good with a sword.
>>
>>38267021
it would allow you to glide more than fly.

Ok, so off to a distant canyon in the morning. I'm taking a 30 minute break, please plan who is coming and what you're bringing, as well as how you intend to find her in the length of the place.
>>
>>38266913
>Have Shee fill her vitae pool with blood fruit
>11. Head to the Astrobleme (hunt Jane Vindel)
>>
Idea:

Oceanic reality summons a cube of water that doesn't expand beyond the boundaries, but inside of the boundaries it still acts like regular water.
Now that we have Shadowcraft, we can open up portals of shadow that link two areas.

What if we were to use Oceanic Reality to summon up a cube of water and then put a shadow portal in the middle of it at the bottom just above the boundary with the other end of the portal above the canyon?

Sit there sucking down bloodfruits and spamming OR with the vitae to flood the place.
>>
>>38267050
He isn't weak, but not on the level of what we are going to need, and he is far too vulnerable to mindfuckery.

>>38267062
Did you miss the part where it doesn't leave its place? It doesn't leave it place, it will not go through the portal.
Leaving aside we don't have oceanic reality anyway.
>>
>>38267061

Should load up the armory with fruit, to recharge.
>>
>>38267089
It does not extend beyond the boundaries, but it could still flow through a portal.
>>
>>38267100
Would fresh fruit count as 'living matter' in that case?
>>
>>38267054
I'm not sure about Dev, if he can get free for the day without problem, he could come with the warmech, but its not such a pressing need he would need to risk his job for it.
Lirael, Rainya and Kae are a must, of course.

I would suggest we use Clairsentience to scout the place, and have Kae look for signs of chaos magic.
>>
>>38267089
>He isn't weak, but not on the level of what we are going to need, and he is far too vulnerable to mindfuckery.

Yeah, i was thinking about clearing through the trash, less boss fight.

Too bad can't make a tinfoil hat with those anti magic slivers imbedded in to resist mind fuckery for him.
>>
>>38267104
No it can't. Because then it would be leaving its designated space.
>>
>>38267135
It's not something that prevents the water from ever leaving the space, it's a force box container thing around it. If there's a portal, it will flow.
>>
>>38267104
No, it doesn't say anything about not leaving its boundaries, you are trying top use wording that isn't there.
It says we can fill a designated space, such as a canyon, or make a free floating cube.
The water does not flow anywhere.
We could spam OR to flood the canyon, but that would take such absurd efforts, that just making a single cube and then smacking her in FotDM is way better.
>>
>>38267155
>it's a force box container thing around it
No it isn't.
The water simply doesn't go anywhere else.
There is no boundary it doesn't cross or anything like that, its just that the water doesn't go anywhere else.
>>
>>38267168
>a single cube and then smacking her in FotDM is way better.
FoTDM is bigger than every body of water created by OR save for the last one, and even then it's still 90% of the height of the cube. The submerged stats of FotDM are irrelevant unless we get to a not-desert planet, we flood this one somehow, or we're in our realm.
>>
>>38267196
>At Oceanic Reality 4 the maximum size of your summoned ocean extend to 50 metres on each side, and up to 50 metres deep.
>to transform into sea monster 30 metres tall
>>
>>38267196
Hydrokinesis is an Ichor thing, under Creature of the Deep, IIRC.
>>
>>38267222
Aaaaaaand I'm dumb. I thought it was 90m for some reason.
>>
>>38267226
It is.

>>38267232
Mind, the point is rather irrelevant, since we don't even have OR4, and won't for a very long time, but even the Dry State is plenty intimidating.
Although Ruler of Shadow might be better.
>>
>>38267253
RoS is better against pure magic and it's essentially godmode against shadow users. FotDM is (currently) better for pretty much anything else, especially if it's in water. Being able to run around at 50kph on land is hella good compared to RoS only being able to blob around at leisurely-stroll pace.

I really wanna do FotDM+Blink and run around at 300kph as a giant sea monster
>>
>>38267304
>RoS is better against pure magic
Its actually bad against magic, because it doesn't have any innate defense against magic, and has less HP.
>>
>>38267334
Its better against purely non-magical stuff though, because of the 5*(Willmod) DR.
>>
Looks like Shee, Rainya, Lirael and Kae are coming.

I was for Dev, however it appears that won't carry the vote regardless.

I was mostly worried about him being an easy target while we are the fuck away from the hive.

Ate we going to like rent an air car or just teleport there?
>>
>>38267392
>just teleport there
Probably that. Would have been good to have these airbikes now, but too late for that.

He'd be useful with the warmech, but too vulnerable for mindfuckery, I understand wanting to bring him with us, and let him contribute, but its not really viable here.
I really hope we get Psychic Infection soon.
>>
>>38267427
We could offer to turn him vamp once we get PoB if he wants. He probably won't, and I don't really like the idea either, but it is an option.
>>
>>38267453
There are a lot of things that are options, but still not good ideas.

Even talking to him about worshipping Jagganatha is better than that.
>>
>>38267427
>He'd be useful with the warmech, but too vulnerable for mindfuckery

Sadly. We have put off that stuff a lot.

We should then speak to him tonight and give him a budget to upgrade the mech. Turn it into a command mech for drones and shit to help scouting too.
>>
>>38267461
Hell, we could probably turn him into an AI with enough corruption and artifice.

That'd actually be pretty sick if we could have make an antinite whatever that antimagic metal is called robot body that we can plug his core into.

I think that would be pretty kick ass. Can't imagine anyone would actually go for it, though.
>>
>>38267485
A power armour using antinite would probably be viable for him.
We need to see what sort of stuff those syrnian hunters use, thats what Dev needs.
>>
Back and writing update, will put prep to a proper vote because yes, it is important, vote will be at the end of next update.
>>
>>38267453

There is.

Vampire
Imbued, need to convince Kae
Dhampire
Psychics.
Cyberentics.
5 worship, one of them

We likely going with psychics though. Times like this make me wish we had a few more allies.
>>
>>38267519
We barely know what to do with those we have.
We don't really need more, as such.
Yonsul is probably going to join our band at some point, provided she doesn't die.
Except for Cybernetics, we already got one of each kind.

Also, Imbued is not just a matter of talking to Kae, she currently can't do it.
>>
>>38267519
Most of those aren't contradictionary, cybernetics might be an option, but I have the feeling Dev won't like enhancments like that.
He definitly won't like any vampire or fae stuff.
Not even sure he will be okay with Psychic Infection.
>>
>>38267519
None of those are mutually exclusive except for vamp and dhamp
>>
>>38267534

Mostly talking about having backup in case stuff goes south.

Like if we had another psychic, they could have focused on that and unlocked infection or other abilities.

Having 1 or 2 back here at the hive as backup for dev or such would not be bad.

I wonder if Jade would still target our fri3nds, probably.
>>
>>38267604
So you mean allies, not directly companions?
That I can agree with yeah, having more of those would be nice.
But, we're working on it, and if Pally ever stops strangling us with plot threads (as if), it would be nice to reach out a few tentacles to other Reunited.
>>
>>38267630

Most reunited are going to be a conflict, unless we can get them to swear fealty to Shee.

I kinda prefer companions due to enhanced growth rate, even if they are used more like allies.
>>
After dinner you sit down with your friends and try to figure out what the plan is. Kaelyn manages to find some holos of the Astrobleme canyon and you all examine it, trying to figure out where your foe could be hiding, as well as what defences she could have.

“It’s useless” says Kaelyn in dismay “the place is huge, the bottom of the canyon is riddled with caves, any one of which she could be hiding in, it’s full of monsters and experiments, not to mention the spells she has cast to protect it.”

“Is that a way to find her though?” asks Rainya “wherever there is magic, so is she?”

Dev shakes his head “More like *wherever there is magic, so is a trap*, if she’s been there a while she’ll have found safe spots and dangerous ones, she’ll have trails leading into monster lairs and the like.”

“The sheer size is daunting” you say “I mean, how are we supposed to search something this big?”

“Why not make her come to us?” asks Lirael “like, pretend we went hunting for her and now we’re all lost and helpless and when she attacks you turn into a ginormous monster and gobble her up?”

You all pause and look at Lirael for a moment.

“What?” she says.

“This mage has been preparing for you though” says Kaelyn “and whilst she can’t predict what you’ll do now” you hope “she does still know your tricks, a ward against teleportation is normally very hard to spread over such a large area but with the Mirrors help....” Yeah and with the Mirrors help even your own Aspect of Impossibility might not be foolproof.

“I need to decide” you say “who is going, what we’re taking with, and how we find her.”

I was voting for it, and teleporting it nearby, like 500km out, so we could sneakish our way in and have a mobile base able to haul almost 1 ton or morw of supplies. Now it is just what we can carry. Volume does matter, despite how funny having Shee and Kae carey around giant backpacks may look.

Sadly at work so i could not easy make arguments on the clock.

Don't know if we got abilities that make drinking water.

Gonna be a lot of ration bars to eat.
>>
We should tell management that we will be away for a while
>>
>>38268358
We don't really have a ton of supplies, and you forget the carrying capacity of the warmech.
Allowing us to move fast through the canyon without teleport, that would have made it worth it.

But for carrying stuff, between Kae, Shee and the warmech, thats not a issue.
Non-vital stuff, will be in the arsenal anyway.
>>
“A truck will be too much hassle” you say “yeah, we won’t be taking that, just what we can carry, now, as for what we’re taking...”

You spend the rest of the evening planning, and writing out a shopping list. Early the next morning you set out together and buy backpacks, camping year and supplies, including food, and water purification tablets. You pack as much as you can carry into your bags and you pack your dimensional arsenal full of anything you might find useful too.
You also tell Ms Carter that you will be away for a few days.
---
A series of teleportations later, you are all at one end of a long canyon, staring down into the abyss below. The light only penetrates so far, you cannot see the bottom.

What you and Kaelyn can clearly sense however, is a strong aura of chaos magic, permeating the entire canyon, but neither of you can say what it does exactly.

“That looks like a long climb down” says Dev, his voice echoing in his helmet, wearing his power armour.

“Yeah” agrees one of the Rainyas

“Pfft, easy” says Lirael, flapping her wings.

You fire up the bulky portable scanner you have bought with you, it can just reach the bottom of the canon at this end, though the resolution isn’t great at that distance. There’s nothing hostile or dangerous can detect, but there is a fast stream of river, and plant life, huh, interesting...It also tells you that the canyon floor is a half-kilometre down from where you are standing.

“Lets get to it” says Kaelyn grimly

You could climb (or teleport) down and head along the canyon floor.

You could walk along the top and use the scanner.

Or you could stay here whilst Kaelyn and Lirael use their powers to seach along the canyon stretching into the distance.

Or you could do something else.

You, Kaelyn and Lirael sit down on some rocks as the Rainya squad and Dev guard your backs. You and Lirael link minds and reach out, peering down into the canyon below.

Around you the wind howls and dust begins to settle on you. You see into the canyon...

Its dark down there, not much light penetrates and yet there is life down there, a fast flowing river travels down the canyon and on either side there are trees, ferns, all sorts of plants. You see rodents and birds, insects and lizards and what they hell they are huge!

Even the rats down there appear to be at least a metre long, and the insects and birds are of proportionate size, you’re probably outweighed by some of those things flying around.

Long vines hang between trees and climb up the cliff edges, growing wide leaves that cling to the cliff sides to absorb light.

As your point of view travels down the river you see a plant reach out and snatch up a rat, tendrils piercing the giant rodents body and draining it of fluids as the things struggles weaken.

Then the vision starts to grow dim, you can feel a vast and yet somehow placid mind pushing against yours, forcing you away, no matter how you struggles against this strength it is like trying to hold back the tide. You open your eyes and Lirael looks at you in awe and a little fear “Shee what was that?” she asks.

You shake your head “I don’t know” you say.

At the same time Kaelyn opens her eyes, a look of confusion on her face “Shee” she says uncertainly “It’s like this whole place is one giant chaoswell, but that’s impossible.”

“To me” you say “it felt like the whole place was...alive...somehow.”

Dev and the Rainyas share a worried look.

What now?

Rolled 1 (1d5)

You head along the top of the canyon, the scanner reading all the different living creatures you found down there. You companions walk at you side. After a kilometre you get to the points where you were pushed out, the feeling of chaos magic is strong here, but only slightly more than it was before.

The scanner is...picking up all sorts of life forms, but no cybernetics in its range, nothing that would indicate Jane Vindel or any sort of super-organism, just the jungle, and the creatures within it. But what could have pushed you out?

“Well?” asks Kaelyn “Are we just going to wander along the whole canyon length with the scanner, or are we going down?”

“Or better yet” quips Dev “are we going home?”

Well?

You haven't written to establish a Mind Link with Rainya though.

Good point.

>>38269195

While maintaining contact with Rainya
>>
“There doesn’t seem to be any other option” you say, resigned to your fate “Let’s go” You gesture to one of the Rainyas, and to Kae and the three of you start descending into the depths. With your tentacles and Kaelyns strength and agility its easy, and although Rainya isn’t the fastest, she doesn’t lack for endurance. You keep a couple of tentacles ready to grab her just in case though.

It takes a long time for you three to get to the bottom of the canyon, all around you is a lush, thriving jungle, despite the darkness. You can see fine but Rainya and Kaelyn both peer around myopically. As foreboding as this place is, nothing has attacked you yet.

You connect to Liraels mind and tell her to bring the others down. One at a time Lirael flies your allies down, saving one of the Rainyas for last.

When you’re all down, Lirael asks you, breathing heavily “now what?”

“Now” you say “we head in deeper” and together, you all head into the jungle...

Shadowcraft is a psychic ability, even if Lirael is using a different way to get at it.

>>38270528
now this is interesting

>>
>>38270544

What moral thing?
We don't have a moral thing.
And even if we did, eating a steak from a enemy has nothing to do with morals.

>>38270449
So we bring back the ocean for mum by flooding that canyon to get that power at a high level so we can get Cheat Sheet powers.

>>
>>38270471

She always does whats prudent.

>>
>>38270638
But anon we could use a power from Mirror to thak the power Mirror tailor made to mess with us.
If that's wrong I don't want to be right.
>>
>>38270700
No, I think you confuse restraint with morals.
I can't remember Shee being moral, ever.
Let alone to such an extent that eating the flesh of her enemies would be problematic for her.
>>
>>38270755
No, fuck you, we are not having this debate over the fucking semantics of the word moral again.
>>
>>38270810

>>38270828

>>
>>38270859

And I'm just pointing out that semantics has nothing to do with why claiming "we have a moral thing" is just wrong.
>>
>>38270728
Okay then, operation genocide is back on. Pretty prudent to make sure we get the entire clan when we get revenge for Ash's death instead of just a few individuals.
>>
>>38270885
>wasting resources to do something for a dead person is prudent
Nah, you're just a idiot.
>>
>>38270908
It wouldn't even be a waste of resource, we make the plants out of nothing *and* we'd get paid millions of credits for them. The genocide is a side effect.
>>
>>38270921
Design a plant that does that, then we talk about if its prudent.
Because if this is the retarded "make them blow up" thing, I probably don't need to tell you that Clan Oubliette doesn't live in greenhouses.
>>
>>38270810
I was think the same thing..

I think you know what was meant.
Also not all of us speaks english as a first language, try to keep that in mind.

Most of them, anyway.

>>38270921

I think he's paranoid it'll respark an argument about morals vs ethics that ate a thread in Paladin of Joy. God that was a stupid argument.

>>38270944

>>38271001

>>
>>38270947

There are certain things Shee will or will not do.

Of coarse those limits change on the day of the week and the time of the daym

That is the problem with board quests.
>>
>>38270977
>And those plants distribute themselves, without ever being linked back to us?
We've got a lot of abilities, I'm sure we can figure something out.

>>38270944

>>
>>38271001
>He was probably referring to the gene-virus idea, where it would spread to any Oubliette vampire in contact with a carrier or one of the plants. Made Letum rot and living vampires sterile, IIRC.
That would require pretty significant effort to engineer, to make sure it hits every Oubliette vampire in such a fashion it affects no one else, and gets all of them fast enough they can't retaliate.
How is that prudent as "side-effect", when we can just make regular cash crops with far less effort?
>>
>>38271083
Because I want to see if we can do it and letting the Oubliette vampires go annoys me.
>>
>>38271029

>>38271083

Cash crops. I figure with some artifice would could make plants that either grow cybernetics or grow shit like medical nanites that heal/regenerate people.

Some weird shit from combining stuff.
>>
>>38271109
You claimed that genocide plan would be a prudent thing to do.
Which it isn't.
Its petty revenge, and thats useless except as deterrent, but since the Oubliettes are cool with us now, it doesn't even serve that.

>>38271120
He was probably sad when we lost the Hope score.

>>38271138
Cash crops are cool, but why waste ffort on having them make do shit they don't need to for profit?
>>
>>38271165
Different anon, why should Shee be cool with them after they tortured her childhood friend in order to destroy his mind as part of a plan to trap her?

Shee is not an emotionless machine, I expect that the next time we run into an Oubliette vampire it will end in his death. It's just that chasing that particular piece of our revenge isn't something we can really do (for now), though.
>>
>>38271165
>Cash crops are cool, but why waste ffort on having them make do shit they don't need to for profit?

If we wanted too we could even create plants that would grow in the desert, ate dust and somehow created water as long as it was dry.

Or any other type of things that could improve dusters lives too.

Survival currently eats so much of our time. I hope we are on the right track here.

Pally is likely lining up a nice list of upcoming fights for us in here.

After all, what sort of creatures would even fae call abominations that they made and were disposed of.
>>
>>38271253
>why should Shee be cool with them
Thats a completly different matter. I never said she is, it was about if revenge on the Oubliettes is prudent.
Meaning, something we gain practical benefit from that exceeds the invested resources.
It isn't such a thing.

And I for one have no interest in revenge against them. We killed their mate, they killed our mate. As long as they stay the fuck away from us, I'm fine with them.
>>
>>38271335
That's not really how revenge or emotions work.

If they step on the planet they're dead, if we have an opportunity to paste some of them I'd take it, once we ascend to godhood we're wiping their clan out in an afternoon. Those are my plans in regards to it.

>>
>>38271368

Baalzi would have done so a long time ago if it were that easy.

And Revenge and Emotions don't work in a uniform way.

You want revenge on them? Vote for it.
Then you'll see if others give as much of a shit as you do.
>>
>>38271253

She isn't, but killing all and any Oubliette vampire is not cool.
We have a beef with a group of them.
Its the same way we don't hate all fae equally, all reunited, or to be a little blunt all humans, even though someone from each category has wronged us.
>>
>>38271472
I really don't think he is alone in wanting to see them punished for what they did. But the hated, for me at least only extend to those few Oubliette involved

They usually at least stay somewhat uniform within the individual, and Shee was pretty pissed. Like if we had a higher Corruption and failed a Will save, I'd expect a large amount of that level of the hive to be a near-literal hell from her anger bleeding into reality level of pissed.

>Then you'll see if others give as much of a shit as you do.
In general it seems to be popular, though a lot of people are squeamish about genocide.

She didn't express much feelings, or any really, about the Oubliette vampire.
If she would feal that vengeful towards them, she would have had some thoughts about having that guy slip through her fingers.
But she didn't.
Her hate is pretty much focused on Jade and MirrorA.

She would have reacted a bit more about the fact she just let the guy go who she now saw had tortured Ash.
If she would have had that strong feelings about their involvement, you'd think she'd be more angry at having let him go.
