A rooster's crow echoes through the forest. Joined by others of its kind's voices as well as every other possible kind of noise as the noisy animals of the night are replaced by the noisy animals of the day. You wake up in a modest pile of lizard and something dry and flaky. Time for another day in the life of a reptile-like monster person.

It takes you a moment to place why you're in a pile of other lizards. Usually only you are allowed out of your terrarium. Wait, it's called a terrarium? Wait. I know words for things? The events of the previous day come rushing back to you.

You remember now. Hitler the rooster murdered you in cold blood. The standard method for murdering any lizard. Then you hatched again as a different variety of reptile thing. You watched some of your siblings hatch, personally helped one of them get his lazy tail out of his egg and had a decent meal before passing out as your dad got home.

Working your way out of the heap that apparently form around you after you fell asleep you look around the room you were born in. Your siblings lay behind you in a pile. You appear to have doubled in size from last night. There's an untidy pile of molted skin. Less than you'd expect honestly.

The nestbox is rather chilly this morning. You hear your dad sleeping somewhere in here but the piles of junk around the room are a perfect camoflage to hide in.

You see no good places to bask.

What's first on the agenda today.

>There are windows on this room but they're closed. Let's fix that.
>Dad has to be in one of these piles. A hunting we will go.
>Just explore. You've paid very little attention to the things that weren't moving.

It's time you took the reins and properly explored your new territory! Climbing the nest box you start by taking a proper inventory of what you can see in the dim light. Which is nearly everything, these eyes are pretty good. The room is some amount wide by some amount long. ALright you're going to need a reference soon or you'll be accused of being bad at measuring distances. It's not your fault you don't know how big you are.

Anyway obvious exit is to the that way, left of sunupwards, North? I guess that's faster to say than "Left of sunupwards. There's a doorway going north, it has dangly strings with beads or something on it that obscure the view into the next room. On the same wall is some kind of rack with a long stick on it. You think you recall dad putting the stick there last night. There's a space above it on the rack for a much larger stick so he probably lost one or something.

To the south is a wall. No windows, some shelves, and a bunch of stuff pushed up against the floor of it. Mostly big sheets of tattered cloth and a few oddly shaped baubles. The shelves are similarly covered in odds and ends. Tools, small cloth piles, tiny art items. And that shelf there has a load of shiny crap on it. One shelf is also dedicated to the strings and metal bits that your aunt and your dad wore.

East and west hold the fabled windows. They're wooden, like the walls and obscure the view of the outside with their wooden flap coverings. You really don't know the word for it and the brain isn't offereing anything. There's just a series of long wood panels set long wise in the windows and connected by a single stick. It looks like they're meant to move up and down so that the wood panels are either perpencidular to the wall or flat against it. They're flat no so there's no space to see out. There's also a little hook stuck in a loop between the two sections of window that keep them from opening on some rusty looking hinges.

>East window. Your brain says that way is East and east means sun means warmth
>West window. Because you feel contrary today.
>Exit to the north. There are more rooms to be explored

How do we want to try and open them?
>Push the stick attached tot he panels so the holes open
>Pull out the little hook thing and see if the windows will open on the hinges

Either way I need a 1d100 best of three.

You scamper over to the east wall and look up at the window. That's... like half again as high as you are long. No time like the present to test out your claws for climbing. You put claw to wall and find that between your fingertips grip and your clawtips you can just walk up the wall and onto the shallow window sill.

You grab the stick for one of the windows and try lifting. You're not quite sure why this bipedal thing is so popular with your dad and aunt but it does make lifting things easier. The stick resists for a moment but with a grunt you tear the end from the sconce holding it in place and the slats slide open smoothly so you can see out.

The room is bathed in the light of the morning sun. Behind you you can hear your siblings stirring in the light and one of the heaps of cloth grumbles and rolls into a tighter ball.

Outside you can see swamp. It's a nice swamp. Very green. You also see a bunch of huts randomly placed nearby. You catch sight of a lizard in an elaborate outfit that dashes between the huts and folds up some papery looking thing on the ground before tying it up with string and shoving it in a bag. He's gone almost as soon as you noticed him.

Well there's plenty of sunlight now. You could just sit right here and soak it all up.

That rock is probably even warmer than the wood you're sitting on. You crawl down the outside of the wall as quickly as you did the inside and toddle up the rock. You're right! It's even warmer. Bad news though, it's already occupied. Some tiny frog sits atop it in the prime basking position. It's maybe a quarter your full length and a fraction of your weight.

It might be a bit hypocritical (woah that's a fancy word) to start something with the frog when you just saw another lizard dive into the water and swim off. And it's too early to get possessive over stuff anyway. You sit on the rock and face into the sun, greeting it with the highest praise you are capable. Basking.

Warmth thicker than you ever remember from your time as an iguana permeates your being and you notice an emptiness fade that you hadn't noticed. Or maybe it's just that you've noticed another kind of emptiness in the form of being hungry. You wonder if anything edible is nearby.

After some time you open your eyes and noticed the frog is gone. You immediately take its spot and return to what you were doing. You notice some other lizards moving around among the huts now. And some that were already moving but you missed because they were blending into the swamp. You can't really make out what any of them are doing. Except the ones that are basking the morning away. You know basking when you see it. Others are just disappearing into the swamp or moving around to other buildings. You also see the smoke from a few fires going up.

You stretch a last time and decide it's time to head back inside. You turn back toward your house. You make it back up to the windowsill (My but climbing is easy) when you hear a familiar cackle behind you. Turning back to the outside you see your aunt approaching the house bearing bowls.

"Hello little one. Out for an early walk?" She's obviously amused. "Don't let me keep you I'll be right inside."

There's no way you're going inside when the food is outside. You clamber back down the side of the hut and scramble over to your aunt, who has to high step to avoid treading on you. You head for her other leg to crawl up her and an odd game of hotfoot ensues as auntie dances around trying to keep you from getting a foothold.

"Simmer down, little one. I'll gives you something in time. Just be patient."

You cease your assault and notice auntie has company today. A much smaller lizard, maybe half auntie's size, though still much bigger than you, is following her. You have to take a moment to absorb her appearance. She is an impossibly cute lizard. She's going to make some lizard very happy someday you can tell. She follows auntie carrying bowls of her own but takes a moment to bend down and tell you how adorable you are before you both fall into line behind aunti again. The front door is covered by a large piece of fabric and leads into a larger room with a fire pit at the center. The walls in here have a few cooking implements and a few other odd tools. Nothing as interesting as what is in auntie's grasp.

[1/2]
>>
>>38278241
Auntie places a couple bowls down in this large room before proceeding on. You briefly consider investigating those bowls but auntie has something more interesting. You think you saw legs. Or maybe some kind of chitinous fingers, you really can't say for sure it was only a peek. There're several bowls. The beads in the doorway to the nest room part and following in auntie's wake miss hitting you on the backswing by inches. The new lady lizard follows

Ahead of you auntie starts laughing again. You notice she laughs a lot though in this case it is understandable why. Your siblings have awoken and apparently uncovered Dad's resting place. Now they're crawling all over him making the chirpy grunts that are the limit of your vocalizing ability.

"I didn't ask for this," he moans, removing your older brother from his face only for your youngest brother to replace him, "What do they want."

"What do you remember wanting when you were their size?"

"I remember being hungry. Not much else"

"There isn't much else," Auntie says, before leaning down and placing a bowl into the nestbox, "C'mon little ones there's some for all of you."

She needn't have said anything you're already running for the bowl before she's even put it down. Your siblings abandon their game of pester Dad just as quickly once they make the connection that auntie and bowls mean food.

You peek over the edge of the bowl and... there's no leg thing in here. It's some kind of red sludge sprinkled with browns greys and blacks. It smells of gore. You're not sure if this is actually food, but the approaching wave of sibling devourers forces you to make the hard choice. You grab a mouthful and come up with a bit of sludge and gob of something soft and chewy. It's actually kind of good. It tastes like meat (your brain says) with a few other things in there. Including a weird not-taste that makes your mouth tingle just a bit.

Before the horde arrives you manage to grab another mouthful. You turn an ear to the adults in the room out of curiosity as you chew.

"One of you needs to talks to Trel again. He tried to get my breakfast from me by claiming the vats are supposed to rest today so I had to give more if I wanted anything," Auntie is telling Dad.

"He's supposed to rotate the vats."

[1/2]
>>
"He DOES rotate the vats but he says they all need to rest if he wants something from you," Auntie tells him back. A sharp crack draws the smaller lizards to look at her. There's the leg thing! She's cracking open its joints and sliding off the shell. Crab, okay I can dig that. So that's a crab. You kinda want some, but you dive back into the bowl. Better the food you have then the food you might not get. But if this runs out you see no harm in asking.

"Hm. I'll have a talk with him," Dad says scratching his face.

"Have you heards anything from the little one's mother," the new lady asks. Ha! Now there's something you're interested in.

"No. Apparently the river trash are upset about something going on far upstream and pushing again so she went up to sort them out. It may take time," he shrugs helplessly.

The food bowl is about 4/5 (Fractional numbers? What madness is this brain?) empty you're starting to contend with siblings for any of the large fleshy morsels left but you got a couple bites more than them.

These lizard folks have short legs and long arms that don't seem to fit, unless like the little ones you're being quadrupedal all the time in which case if fits better. Their faces are rounded with a slight wedge shape and mouths filled with sharp looking teeth. They have a series of pointy spines down their back that tend to get fused with a series of rougher irregular back scales. Coloration wise they vary from darker greens to almost black greens with slight variations towards blues and browns. They've also got a long gator-like tail.

That's enough of this stuff. Your mouth is starting to feel a little numb from eating it. Maybe you ate it too fast? Or it's just weird, who knows. You know though that aunt Sarissa has that tasty looking crab and is still nibbling on it.

Pushing off the bowl you clamber out of the nestbox to approach the adults splayed out along the west wall. When they see you they curtail their conversation and look at you.

"Oh it's the little adventurer again," the new lady says, again getting down on your level and giving you a happy look.

"Adventurer?" Dad asks, looking at auntie.

"We found the little troubleseeker outside sunning herself on a rock," Auntie rats you out, "Did you not see her leave? Or were you to busy being attacked by ferocious wee babes to count them when you woke up?"

"I was woken up by the light from the window. I never saw her go out."

"And who opened the window?" Auntie give dad a love tap before turning to where you've been waiting in a way you'd describe as quite patiently, only bobbing back and forth a little, "What did you need little one?"

You open and close your mouth failing to produce much in the way of intelligible noise, still auntie follows your gaze to her breakfast and seems to understand.

"You've had your food, this is mine," she says holding the crab close to her, "I'll take you down to the beach and see if you can catch your own tomorrow."

"Aww," the new lady coos, "Here, you can have some of mine." She lowers her bowl and shows you more of the gorey stuff from earlier.

Well, you got one offer of food. But still you can't help but feel that crab is something you don't want to miss out on. You flashback to your iguana days and vaguely recall one of the wet sniffers- dogs begging for bits of food successfully. It's not something an iguana or any lizard usually gets the opportunity to try but you're no ordinary lizard now. You give auntie another look and try to put on something like the pitiable soulful look the dogs used.

Auntie face breaks and she looks heartbroken and now you feel bad for asking. She just looks so sad that you want some of her food. You'll just eat some of the new lady's- Wait, did auntie just do what you did back? That's... you draw from an even deeper well of hurt and turn it back on her. For a moment the two of you stare at each other like a pair of the saddest clowns in existence before your aunt cracks and starts laughing.

"Okay, little one," she laughs and snips a mouthful of crab meat off and spears it on a claw to give to you, "You win, clearly you have inherited your mother's and I ability."

You eagerly accept the morsel and shove it in your maw. A salty sweet flavor floods your mouth and you feel the meat seperate and tear in your mouth. The world spins out for a moment and you suddenly find everyone upside down. You think you blacked out for a second, thankfully the crab is still in your mouth so you just spend as much time as you can gnawing on it as you can before you're forced to swallow.

The adults are laughing their tails off. You don't care. You have just discovered that the god lizard apparently made one perfect food, and through some strange cruelty in his design you went through an entire lifetime without getting to try it.

"I think she likes it," dad laughs walking over to the rack with the long decorated stick on it and picks it up, "I need to get going. You'll watch them?"

"Better than you will? I'm sure Kuru does not mind keeping me company?" auntie looks at the new lizard lady, who shakes her head vigorously. She is overjoyed that your siblings spotted her lowered bowl and dived in head first. You'd be jealous of them, but YOU got CRAB.

>Just... just enjoy the remainder of the crab flavor in your mouth
>Try to follow dad out

After grabbing his stick dad doubles back and slaps hands with Auntie and Kuru. You're not sure what that's about. Though not one to let an opportunity pass you take advantage of their momentary distraction to sneak onto Dad as his tail brushes the ground, the thick spinal scales and spines offer plenty of places to hold onto and climb without him feeling it. A few seconds swift climbing finds you hiding in some of the overlapping folds of his clothes.

Dad bids the lady lizards goodbye again and puts on his strange hat. You recognize the skull on it now as belonging to a large frog. He makes his way out into the swamp and tramps into the water and falling in to swim to his destination. You almost lose your grip when he collapses into the water but manage to hold on. Luckily he keeps his head just above the surface as he swims, you're not sure if you could hold your breath long enough if he chose to swim below the water line.

As he swims you get peeks of more huts and of lizards moving around doing various tasks in the morning's tasks or just snoozing in the morning light. You notice an odd discrepancy where roughly one in four lizards is the size of your auntie or your dad but the rest are smaller, closer to Kuru's size. They wear a wide assortment of clothes and decorations, you get the feeling the uniqueness of your decoration is somehow important. You also see some unadorned lizards, wearing only a piece of light armor or just a dark cloth wrap, though those lizards appear to be either leaving into the swamp or coming back.

roll 1d100 to remain undetected.

As your father swims along whatever watery path he is following forces him to move around the occasional obstacle. At one point he has to dive to pass under some tree roots and surprised at the suddeness of the action you fail to hold on properly. As you pass beneath the roots you catch on the root. Your hold on Dad's clothes remains and you're tugged free but not before a scaly hand reaches back to find what is caught and touches you.

You get loose from the roots and Dad swims on and surfaces. You think you may be fine but after a minute of swimming through wild swamp Dad approaches another number of scattered huts and pulls himself up onto dry land near them. As he rises out of the water your still poorly attached form slaps against his back. He immediately starts trying to feel around for the cause again.

You make a mad dash up Dad's body looking for some suitable spot he might not notice you, his graspers miss you and you make it to his neck before they make their second run. You see a crack between his head and his hat and go for it. The world suddenly spins on at least a couple axes and you find yourself looking up at dad's face from the inside of his hat.

Hi Dad...
>writing
>>
You look up at your Dad's large unimpressed face. You wave at him and squeak at him in what you hope is a cute way. He remains stone faced for a minute before giving up in the face of your adorableness? He hangs shame faced and puts his hat back on, you still in it, and treads back into the water. He begins swimming back in the opposite direction, paying attention to make sure you stay in his hat. You get a decent view of what's going on around you through the holes in the frog skull but unfortunately this was the direction you were facing on the way up too.

After a minute Dad catches sight of another lizard swimming at max speed in your direction. Bobbing up to the surface they change course and bubble up next to him. It's Kuru. Kuru starts trying to apologize and explain that one of their kids escaped somehow but Dad cuts her off by removing his hat and revealing you. Kuru's apologies don't end but do change tack to apologizing about letting her sneak off.

After some minor consolation Dad hands you off to Kuru and goes back on his way as Kuru places you on her head to start swimming home. You really hope Auntie isn't angry.

>That's it for tonight guys. I've got an interview in the morning so this is as far as we go. Next time we showdown with Auntie Sarissa and maybe get more stuff explained about lizards. Also, the result of the ones rolled in the beginning may finally rear its something.

>If you have any questions comments or what not feel free to ask, I'll still be up for a while getting stuff ready for tomorrow. Thanks for coming!

So that'd be... Thursday at some point depending how I feel?
