You are Reinhold Eschenwald, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

One of many issues that you're forced to deal with at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

You've taken his arm, now all that's left to do is to tale his life.

And then you'll finally be able to return home with Luciana.

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a ferocious TIGER!
>Strong and fearless, tigers are the only predators known to feed on lesser dragons.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend and fierce protector!
>But while tigers truly are impressive, they still fall short of being considered as people.

Clutching the stump where his arm used to be, Leopold's face contorts with hatred.

And then the ground around him explodes. Massive slabs of rock shoot through the icy layer that Setsuranka covered the ground with, almost looking like flower petals as they circle around Leopold's position. Worried, you begin to run backwards, wary of stepping off of the layer of ice that's proven successful in keeping you from being detected by anything aside from Leopold's own eyes.

Though the stone slabs continue to rise from the ground, soon you find yourself far enough away that you feel safe enough to rest your legs for a short while. While you take this break, you attention shifts away from your own personal safety to that of your allies... to your left, you see Inaba take the much larger princess in her arms and leap away from the rising stones. And to your right, you see a dome of ice that's mostly covered by the dirt that Leopold was throwing at Monique. You find yourself breathing a sigh of relief when you notice the portion opposite Leopold's direction begin to melt away.

Inaba is quick and surefooted, if we go to them we're painting a larger target on Luci and will fail to divert Leo's attention.
Leo is PISSED, and last we saw Monique was cut on his head and worn out from the earlier fight. From what I've gathered in Leo's monologue he's gonna want to take vengeance first.

You've drawn Leopold's ire, and heading towards Luciana and Inaba would likely only serve to put them in further danger, damn it all. But fortunately, Inaba's proven herself to be plenty agile enough to stay out of the way of any stray attacks. They should be fine for at least a little while longer.

Monique, on the other hand... you're worried about him. He was already bleeding from the head when the real assault on Leopold began, and you would have expected him to have freed himself from that ice dome soon after Leopold holed himself up in whatever the hell attack he seems to be setting up.

...or maybe it's just a simple tantrum. It's not like you really give a damn either way.

Even if it did, those enchantments were strictly for the purpose of mitigating cutting damage, while Leo's likely to be using piercing or crushing attacks almost exclusively.

Wordlessly, you run along the outer perimeter of the ice unit you reach what remains of the dome that Monique threw up. You ease closer, creping towards the slight opening that's opened up...

"Monique?" you call out in a hushed tone.
"...ah, so you're still alive," Monique replies with a hoarse tone of voice. "That's good, I'd hate for the Princess to lose her love just when she's finally on the verge of being rescued..."

You mumble the incantation for Sparkle Shine in order to get a better view... and reel back when you actually see the condition that your rival is in.

"Shit!" you blurt out without thinking. "Are you-"

Monique's leg is jammed in between two very large sheets of rock.

"I'm alright, but I'm having a rather difficult time getting out of here, as you can see," he says with a defeated smile. "Doesn't seem to be broken, but I lack the physical strength to break free."

>>
>>38301936
>>what shall you do?
Stab with Dead Line Fault parallel to his leg through the upper sheet of rock (if the rocks are sandwiching his leg on the top and bottom) so that the slab breaks away to either side of his leg.

If his leg is stuck between them vertically, Dead Line Fault at a diagonal-down angle at a place below his leg so that the slab pinning him will slide away cleanly.

>>
>>38301936
I'm guessing there's no way to do this quietly so let's do it fast and just deadline fault it.
>>
>>38301936
>Deadline fault a slab, drag his ass to a defensible position and then defend.

Monique is as good as dead without mobility against a ground-based foe. At the very least we can say we tried and lure Leo to attack head on now that there's blood in the air (so to speak).
>>
I've got third shift in 20 minutes, I'll leave it to you guys. Do Not Fuck this up.
>>
>>38301936
Dead line fault sounds like our best option here.
>>
>>38301936
>Cast steel body and physically tear the rock off.
>Cast deadline fault on one one of knives and Sunder the rock.
>Convert our sword into a crowbar and jack him out.
>Get him to ice the rock and pull him out while the surface is slippery.
All options have a risk of injury his leg, but at least one of them should work, so I say go with whichever one of these is least likely to fuck up
>>
>>38301936
Stick our sword in the crevasse and force it to expand, opening the space.
>>
If we use dead line fault, we should shield his legs with that shield spell I can't remember the name of. Unless we can't because of the rocks?

Leopold having a hissy fit about everything going wrong is wonderful.

>>38301936
We could break the rocks, I guess? I'm not sure whether stuff like dead line fault would just stab up the leg with shrapnel or what, though I guess Rein would know. It'll give away location to Leo, but if we leave Monique he's a hostage to threaten us with.
>>
>>38302105
Yeeeeaaaah
>>
>>38301936
Make sure to advise him that once he's free, to get clear as quickly as possible.

We saw him using Snowflake Step earlier, so maybe suggest that he try to use it wherever possible to stay off the ground. I'd say to keep airborne with flight instead, but we don't know how good his combat aerial maneuverability is.

>>38302101
Shade Guard? Seems like a good idea, since huge stone slabs and the remainder of his ice dome should provide some fodder for it.
>>
>>38301936
Cut his leg off, get sword lady to staunch the bleeding, fastball special him out of the danger zone while he chants his flight spell.

I felt like first-to-3 might be a bit anticlimactic, but there's been a bunch of other combat decision-making interspersed throughout the encounter, so it hasn't really been an issue.

Otherwise, I almost wouldn't have even minded him gaining back another "HP" worth of advantage during downtime, since if pure Strike/Crash/Guard was all there was to the encounter it would've felt like it'd warrant a first-to-4 (or even 5, maybe? that might drag on a bit if things go down to the wire, though) instead.

"........."

You peer at the crevice that Monique's leg is trapped in, and then leap backwards a slight ways so that you can see what Leopold is doing... and of course he's tearing the ground up. Thanks to his tantrum, the only part of the ice covering that's left is the outermost perimeter.

"I'm gonna break up the rock," you say. "So try and wedge something in the so you don't get trapped even worse, alright?"
"It's already done," Monique replies.

And in an instant, the empty space between the two stone slabs is filled with ice. Figuring that that will act as a decent enough buffer as anything else, you cast Dead Line Fault while stabbing into the rock with your sword as hard as you can.

Though your sword only pierces about half a centimeter's length into the stone itself, the damage spreads along the entire upper slab until the thing crumbles under its own weight. With your task taken care of, you take hold of the man's shoulder and yank him free of his rocky entrapment.

You find yourself forced out of the ice dome just before a stone slab crashes into it. As the dust and snow clears, you realize that you'd have been crushed just now if not for Monique. And that he would have been crushed if not for you.

"I think that we're even now," Monique says, glancing at you with a wry smile on his face before refocusing his attention on the center of the battlefield.

Now that you can get a good look at what was going on while you were getting Monique out of that rut he was in, you realize that your dear-death wasn't a direct attack. No, it seems that all of the stone slabs that Leopold rose from the ground flipped over, effectively resurfacing the ground with earth instead of ice.

"Luci-"

Frantic, you search for the two girls... and find them at the opposite end of the area, standing on what little ice there is left.

Not sure a mass re-icing is worthwhile without the Morning Fog to obscure his regular line of sight. "Throw another layer of ice on the ground," you say to him. "If you do that, he'll be forced to rely on his sight in order to figure out where we are instead of having a 360-degree view of everything around him.
"...yes, that makes sense," Monique nods. "And we have plenty of magical energy to spare, so it shouldn't be much of an issue for us."
"Thanks," you nod while readying your own sword. "Gimme a direct path to him, then circle around him while I charge."
"Heh. Consider it done."

Starting in a straight line, the residual ice on the ground spreads from the point where you're standing and creeps its way towards Leopold, who seems to be waiting for you to make your move.

Your direct route ruined, you manage to save your casting of Tailwind by forcing the sharpest turn with the spell that you've ever done before. And if not for Monique's ice serving to decrease the friction beneath your feet, you'd surely tumble over and leave yourself exposes to whatever attack the bastard was trying to set up.

You soon find yourself on the defensive, running in a wide circle in hopes of avoiding Leopold's relentless stalagmite attacks.

Should you charge right on, trusting that your increased weight and momentum will allow you to plow through whatever Leopold sends at you? Or maybe you could throw a few castings of Twilight's Wake at him...

...and just as you decide to do the former, a crescent-shaped blade of ice that you recognize as Arctic Blade smashes into Leopold. The impact sends him flying, and the ice itself digs into his side a short ways before exploding into an array of ice crystals.

His body is stone and he is holding his hand to his head after throwing up some walls to stop Monique's onslaught. There is not enough context to know what his move will be, but that leaves us advantaged. Unless this is a ??? that can only be beaten by 1 thing then we have a 2/3 chance of adding an advantage and finishing him. This ability he's using seems like a desperate power type ability, so it's either a hyper crash or a huge guard, therefore I think a Crash to counter it would be appropriate.

"...what the hell...?" you mutter under your breath, reflexively backing away from this bizarre scene.

Monique, on the other hand, is not so hesitant. From his far-off position, he lets a volley of Arctic Blades fly. They all strike true, littering the surface of the column with flower-like explosions of ice... yet it remains standing.

Just as you're considering hitting the thing with a Dead Line Fault spell and shattering it outright, the pillar's surface begins to ripple... and out comes Leopold. Still made of stone, he looks no different from when he stepped inside it.

Except for one exception.

The arm that you'd taken from him appears to have been restored!

Or rather, -replaced-. In the place of his stump, Leopold flexes a bestial stone arm that's at least as long as he is tall. Stomping his feet into the ground for support, Leopold raises his new appendage in the air.

...can we detect whether or not his real body is actually still inside the pillar?

I wouldn't put it past him to send out a stone doppel to throw us off for a moment while he melts into the actual ground through the base of the pillar in an attempt try and tunnel away to gank Luciana as a last-ditch effort to make us "lose". It seems like just the kind of spiteful bullshit this guy would pull now that he's mid-nervous breakdown.

Though you're still more than a little bit stunned by.. whatever the hell this is, Monique's still on the full offensive, sending several more Arctic Blades right at Leopold.

"Hmph."

Not even bothering to turn his head away from you, the fallen Knight shifts his eyes in the direction of the oncoming attack. With the sound of broken glass, his arm whips out like lightning and swats every single projectile out of the sky, shedding a thin later of stone with each impact. And once that's been taken care of, he charges right at you.

Fairly sure this is a strike. Unless it's a crash, but it doesn't really seemed telegraphed enough to be a crash. Or it's whatever doesn't get countered, because arch wants to artificially add tension to the boss fight since we'd pretty much curb-stomped him until now, hence making the phrasing of his attack unnecessarily ambiguous.

You're right.

Guard is the safest option in most circumstances since crashes tend to be the most telegraphed.

>>I feel like he's just continuing his guard against us in the form of a feint.
I could see that if he hadn't charged at us in spite of
>Stomping his feet into the ground for support, Leopold raises his new appendage in the air.

If he had kept his feet rooted and telegraphed a strike with his arm, there'd have been a lot more pointing toward it being a feint: holding one stance even though he had set up before anyone took any action, actively showing a tell for an attack that he had already illustrated he could make with no prior warning, maintaining a position near his still-present and kind-of-ominous pillar, maybe some other niche stuff.
>>
Ever wary, you take a defensive position and ready your sword in front of you.

CRUNCH

You bat Leopold's whip-arm aside with the flat of your sword, but it soon curves back around and flies right back at you.

"Shit..."

You grit your teeth in frustration while constantly dodging backwards. It's extremely difficult to track the motion of Leopold's arm, and doing the same while also keeping track of the man himself is doubly so. It soon becomes apparent that your increased metal weight will eventually lead to your death.

So you drop the spell.

you feel fifty times lighter once you're returned to your flesh-and-blood self, easily bobbing and weaving around Leopold's attacks until you finally manage to force a bit of distance between you and your opponent.

Taking several deep breaths, you hold out your sword with one harm and search through your jacket pocket with the other until you find a certain scroll that you'd almost forgotten you had. Glaring at your oncoming enemy, you grip the loose end in your teeth and unfurl it, letting the paper catch in the wind just enough for all of its inscribed SCript to be visible before speaking.

You whisper its spell name, slicing at the icy ground and letting go of the burning scroll just as Leopold's artificial arm comes within reach of your face.

A crackling sound fills the air.

Just as planned, the idiot didn't have any concern for -what- you were casting from that spell. The shocked look on Leopold's face says it all, and you can't help but grin like mad as ice courses down his arm, picking up speed as it approaches the shoulder. He tries to forcibly remove it before the ice can spread, but it washes over the fingers of his actual arm as he tries to do so and continues on until his entire body is frozen in a massive block of ice.

Not stopping until you've driven it through his heart, you take a few seconds to enjoy your handiwork. You've come all this way and gone through many obstacles (literally, in a few cases), and you can't help but grin.

Satisfied, you have your sword extend in all directions at once and carve up everything that its tendrils can reach. Soon, the pressure on your sword-arm vanishes as what's left of Leopold Massenet crumbles around your blade.

With your opponent having crumbled to bits, you breathe a well-earned sigh of relief.

You glance over at Monique and nod to him in thanks. If not for him, there's no way this fight would have gone off the way it did...

"Twilight's Wake!"

Just in case, you whip a sword-arc at the pillar that Leopold created just before that aborted attempt to kill you. It crumbles harmlessly to the ground just as you reach her...

"Reinhold!"

Running past Inaba, Luciana breaks into a sprint of her own and leaps into your arms. Time comes to a still as you hold her tight for the first time today. Her warmth fills your arms and her fragrance fills your nose and you feel so, so relieved that you're finally able to hold her like this again.

Suddenly, you feel a sharp pain in your chest.

Letting go of your girlfriend, you slowly back away and look into her eyes.

You then notice something is off. These aren't the eyes of the girl you love. These are the eyes of the man you just "killed".

"Luciana" suddenly turns into stone and gradually changes her form.

Standing before you is Leopold wearing Luciana's dress.

"HAHA! ESCHENWALD! The look on your face is priceless!"

Your vision starts to blur.

"I'm just happy to have you back," you reply as tears of happiness stream down your own face. "I love you so much, and-"

Luciana stops your lips with a kiss. Holding you tight, she presses closer still and you begin to lose yourself in her embrace. These slender shoulders that you were worried that you'd never be able to wrap your arms around again, these lips that you were worried that you'd never get to taste again...

...these breasts that-

"Luciana!" you hold her by the shoulders and push her away. "Y- you-" you look down at the torn dress that exposes the delicately laced bra that covers her meager bosom. "I'm so sorry, he-"

Though Leopold is dead, it's like he's still won...

"Wha!?" Luciana looks down. "N- no, Reinhold!" she gasps. "It's not like that!"

She gently places her hands against your cheeks.

"The only thing that was violated was my -pride-!" Luciana says in a soft voice. "I'd never let him get so far as to..."
"R..." you look her in the eyes. "...really? He didn't...?"
"No."

With a sad smile on her face, Luciana shakes her head.

"-You- are the only person who I will ever allow to touch me in such a manner, Reinhold Eschenwald," she says, caressing your face in her hands. "And even then, not until our wedding day..."

Your heart begins to race.

The happiness you feel is tempered by a twinge of embarrassment... though it's not as if you're unused to such things, you really feel uncomfortable looking at Luciana right now.

And so you do the gentlemanly thing and take off your jacket.

"Luciana," you call out.

As smooth a move as you've ever done, you slide behind your girlfriend and place your jack around Luciana's shoulders.

"Just in case all this ice is making you cold," you say, blushing slightly.
"Thank you, Reinhold," Luciana giggles.

After sliding her arms through the overly-long sleeves of your jacket and buttoning it up (but leaving just enough to show off a bit of cleavage), Luciana spins around and gives you a quick peck on the cheeks.

Cautiously, you step towards the sphere until you're equidistant between it and Luciana. After waiting for a few seconds to see if it does anything, you grip your sword and begin chanting.

"Raising my sword before the coming shade..."

You rattle off the spell as fast as you can, and throw a massive wave of piercing light towards the unknown structure.

CRACK

Your attack cuts into the shell, going in a fair ways before finally dissipating.

And then the cracks from its impact rapidly spread across the stone's surface.

"But I didn't use Dead Line Fault-"

...no. The face is the same.

"Leopold," you grit your teeth. "How the fuck are you still alive."

Not that you actually care, of course. All you have to do is kill him a second time and make sure that he stays dead.

"You were too stupid to make sure that my head wasn't still intact," Leopold taunts while craning the neck of his new body. "My brother survived with hand his body destroyed, what the hell make you think that I couldn't survive something as minor as what you did?"
"......"

Leopold gives his new arms and legs a good stretch before springing into action. Faster than ever before, he makes a beeline right for you.

A small pillar of stone rises to the height of Leopold's elbow. He taps his stump onto it and pulls out a hew forearm from it.

"It's this simple," he says, grinning at you. "Everything you do to me I can fix as easily as breathing. But since it does suck to get bashed to bits with every exchange..."

Leopold takes a deep breath (how is he even breathing when his body is currently made from stone) and flexes... and suddenly the stone that composes his body turns several shades darker.

"Now let's see you try that again."

That's exactly what's happening. Leopold is basically just a head now and without medical attention he's stuck in stone form. And since Our Metal > His Stone, he's at a huge disadvantage.

He should actually be weaker now since his current stone form is doing nothing for him except keeping him alive and slowing him down (of course, the "faster than ever before" part might disagree).

<DANGER!>

You don't really need your sword to tell you that though... despite the fact that the sun has already set, you're more than capable of telling that with your eyes alone.

While Leopold charges you head-on, the masked figure splits off from the main attack and circles around behind you. Not one to be shaken by something as common as a pincer attack, you hold your sword at the ready...

CRUNCH

Leopold propels his fist right at your face, but you leap back just before his fits would connect, swinging your sword in a wide arc as you fall back. It hits the masked figure square in the chest and you're CERTAIN that you feel something crumble, but its actions don't indicate any pain.

Thinking about it more, it's natural for him to want to do this bait and switch, since he arrogantly let slip that his only relevant weak point is his head.

Given the choice between the two, even all feints aside, in his position I'd rather put myself in the position of the guy with heavier protection in the only place that really counts.

Unfettered, the two close in you yet again. But instead of trying to back out of trouble, you finish chanting your spell and draw your sword back.

"Twilight's Wake!"

Wider than any that you've created before, a massive crescent of light launches from the arc of your swing and slams into both of your opponents at once. They're thrown back several yards, with Leopold falling over himself a few times before rolling back to his feet unharmed. The masked one, on the other hand... though your attack most definitely did visual damage, it starts right back at you once the arc of light dissipates.

Two slashing attacks did damage to the clone, but Luciana's magic seemed to just push it off into the distance.

Maybe the two clones each have a different type of DR? Worth testing out, at least.

>>try and set leopold up to be thrown into the path of luciana's magic, it should do enough damage to actually hurt him

No boost, it's a trap.
>>
No... Boost is too risky. Should this fight last too long, you'd run the risk of burning yourself out and becoming unable to defend yourself, and you really can't risk it in a fight like this one. Instead, you'll just rely on Luciana to do the actual damage while keeping Leopold's attention on yourself.

Luciana's a smart girl, she should be able to figure out what your plan is without you announcing it for everyone to hear.

"...well shit," Leopold laughs. "You went and killed my little friend."
"That's the 'masked man' that everyone thought was behind this whole thing, wasn't it."
"Exactly," he nods. "Oh, and here he is again!"

With a snap of LEopold's fingers, the exact same masked man that Luciana just killed with her comet spell rises from the ground. It's pretty clear at this point that it's nothing more than some sort of earthen puppet that Leopold controlled to make it seem like Takamaru and Sir Armin were being attacked by someone other than Leopold himself.

It's nothing more than a distraction. And though it can certainly knock you around, it's not like the masked puppet's attacks are able to do any actual damage. As such, you decide to keep your focus on fighting it off while putting Leopold into such a situation where he can be picked off by one of Luciana's attack spells.

You just wish that her incantations didn't take so long.

The masked puppet races towards you while Leopold himself stands back this time. Slowly, he raises his hands in the air while the ground underneath him begins to rumble...

The stone puppet attacks you relentlessly, forcing you away from Leopold himself. Though it's pretty obvious what he's up to, you're having a lot of difficulty getting close enough to do anything about it...

...but then you remember something that you CAN do.

"Be you red with the blood of sinners or black like the hearts of the wicked..."

Leaping backwards, you bring your sword down at the same time and smash off one of the puppet's arms.

"...heed my call and bring my enemies to their knees in penitence."

Grabbing it by the face, you force the puppet to the ground with one hand while pointing your sword right at Leopold with the other. Loose gravel around him is starting to levitate into the air, so it's now or never...

"Clay Spread!"

Six orbs of clay materialize around your sword and fire right at Leopold in rapid procession.

THUD THUD THUD THUD

Two miss, the other four hit true, covering his face with sticky clay and throwing off his concentration. You breathe a sigh of relief as the ground stops shaking and the puppet in your grip falls limp.

With a gurgling sound that you didn't even think was possible to make with a body that has no liquids in it, Leopold looks down at his body...

Though your original plan was solid, Luciana has now drawn Leopold's attention and you're not sure that Inaba will be able to successfully defend her from his direct attacks. So instead of relying on her, you decide to take things into your own hands...

"Let's see you try that shit again..." Leopold growls as another stone column rises from the ground beneath him and melts into his body. Having seen this twice before, you're fairly certain that this means that he's just going to replace his destroyed bodyparts yet again.

You reach into your picker and bring out one of three remaining scrolls that you've yet to use. Gripping its loose end between your teeth like before, you pull it taut and then let it flap about in the wind as you invoke its name.

"Boost."

Boost is also a potential drawback if we don't finish the fight in the next hit. If he notices that we used Boost all he has to do is dig a hole and hide in it for 3 minutes.

You feel your entire body surge with energy, and the once-heavy arms and legs of your metal body now feel even lighter than when you're in your natural state. Hell, it feels like if you jumped right now, you'd continue on past the stars in the sky!

But now isn't the time to revel in your newfound power. No, there's still an enemy standing there who's set his sights on the girl you love and you're not about to stand aside while he targets her again.

Starting at a brisk jog, you pick up speed on your own...

"Howling winds," you call out, "gather beneath my feet and guide me on my journey."
"Hm?" your actions finally catch LEopold's eye. "You just don't fucking give up..."

Paying you little mind, he raises a wall of stone to block your path.

He's going to regret underestimating you.

"Tailwind!" you shout.

It's like an explosion in your legs. While you thought you were used to the sudden acceleration from casting Tailwind while running, you've never cast it while under the effects of Boost... needless to say, you've never moved this fast before in your entire life. Stumbling at first, you soon pull yourself together just in time (not that you had very much time to do so at the speed you're going at), holding your arm in front of you as you slam through the stone wall that Leopold so haphazardly threw up to keep you away.

You smash through the barrier like it was paper, continuing your rapid approach towards him unfettered. Though Leopold initially seems uninterested, the sheer speed at which you're going soon catches his notice.

Not that he's in any way able to get out of your way, of course. Holding your sword directly in front of you as you zoom along, you chant one final spell. Its script trails behind you like an afterimage...

"DEAD!"

Your sword breaks through Leopold's increased defenses, piercing his rocky hide.

"LINE!"

You keep going, plunging your blade into his chest.

"FAAAAAAAAAAAAAULT!!!"

The cracks from your impact rapidly spread from the initial wound...

Having broken through his entire body, you continue running -through- it, finally skidding to a halt several yards away.

You definitely underestimated the momentum that this spell has...

Ever cautious, you double back immediately before all of Leopold's pieces even hit the ground, sheathing your sword as you go. Stopping in the epicenter of the falling chucks of stone man, you reach into the air and snatch the piece that you were looking for-

Leopold's severed head.

It glares at you with hate-filled eyes, though a lack of lungs means that he's unable to verbalize the profanities that he's obviously wishing to assault you with.

"Luciana!" you call out to you beloved.

Once she waves back at you, you toss the decapitated head into the air...

Luciana's magical construct soars through the sky like a dragon ascending to the heavens, soaring along as she guides it right at Leopold's falling head. And with a satisfying sizzling sound, it engulfs what's left of the traitorous bastard entirely.

You can't help but fall to your knees as a wave of relief hits you harder than any of his attacks... it's all over. From Leopold's own words, he can't survive if his head isn't intact, and you're quite certain that being melted utterly no longer counts as such.

You remain there for a few seconds before rising to your feet and letting the Metal Body enchantment drop, then you race back towards where Luciana and Inaba are standing.

Thanks to Boost, you make it there in seconds... but the spell's duration ends just before you'd reach her.

"Whoa-"

An entire fight's worth of fatigue hits you at once, causing your legs to buckle underneath you. You don't even have the strength to brace for impact.

"Huh?"

Instead of the icy ground, your face collides with something soft... and sweet-smelling. Pulling together what little energy you have left, you slowly lift your head up and are met with Luciana's smiling face.

Niklaus would get some respect for the Rein, Taka would have died.

I don't follow FD but I would follow a Red Meteor Quest. That would be the the best quest ever. It will pick up immediately after this one and have copious time skips so that we see the rise of great Red Meteor from best loli to best adventurer.

>Thoughts about >>38306949
A nice sentiment, I guess.

>>38308815
>What would have happened if we specified to destroy Leopold's head the first time.
Had you done that, the second round of the fight would have never occurred. Because Leopold would be dead.

>Was magic bracelet ring impossible to fashion out that moment?
Yes. Anything that Reinhold makes out of his bracelet is keyed to his personal magical signature and would die if left on Luciana from starvation.

>>38308817
>Was there any right or wrong move vs ???
Crash was the right move, and would have done damage had you opted to use Boost before doing so.

>>38308818
>Is he right, was Celestino watching the entire thing?
He is not.

>>38308838
>What's the highest "stacked" boost that has been recorded?
Four times.

>Also when multiple boosts are used are the bonuses additive or multiplicative?
Additive.

>>38308850
>Will you do a time skip to the wedding, when the immediate aftermath of this incident is dealt with?
I'll keep that to myself for now.

>>38308852
>Why were Takamaru and Niklaus taking so long? Surely mere scrubs would not delay the Great Archmage to such an extent.
It'll be explained in the next thread.

>>38308857
>Will next thread pick up immediately after this one, or will there be a time skip?
Immediately after this one.

>>38308877
>I wonder if sylvie can into scrying.
She can't.

>continued...
>>
>>38308884
If there is no timeskip then we will never see the wedding. It would take us weeks just to pick out the bloody cake.
>>
>>38308888
>Reinhold dealt with the "Masked Man" no problems, how did it manage to solo both taka and whatsisface all by it's lonesome?
My initial feeling is that we were dealing with a disposable shell version after his initial "death", and never really got confronted by his initial decked-out doppelganger.

Same reason most of his ranged attacks were less high-impact second time 'round: he was busy having to sustain his own body at the time as well.

Hah! Take that, anti-boost fags!

Red Meteor Quest is not happening.
Anons killed Arch's will to questmaster.
>>
>>38308909
Arch had planned to run a Red Meteor Quest at some point, but 4chan has killed any hope of him ever running a quest again. The best we can hope for is PGQ VN 2: Red Meteor.

Damn you anons. Damn you 4chan. This is unforgivable.

It wouldn't have been a kill though, thus risking us burning out. We did the right thing.

I would have thought it'd be much easier to avoid waifu-war style bullshit with the likely core cast of a Red Meteor quest as well.

This is Arch the yuri lover we're talking about.
Half of Elena's routes are confirmed to be /u/.
>>
>>38308888
>Reinhold dealt with the "Masked Man" no problems, how did it manage to solo both taka and whatsisface all by it's lonesome?
They got blindsided.

>Are you going to finish the metal dragon book and post it when the quest is over?
I guess I probably should.

>If this was a cartoon/live action show, who would you want to play reinhold, or the other members of the cast?
Dunno.

>Do you like Monique?
He's a jerk, but enjoyable enough.

>Will single route allow for Moniquebro/Niklausbro/bro-in-law broing it up?
Yes.

>Will you ever tell us about the magical significance of the planetary ring?
I thought I already did.

>Who would win in a fight, slvie or Luciana?
Sylvie.

>Will the VN have Lewds?
No.

>How do you feel about the fact that, when you never complete the VN, it will be compared to Katawa Shoujo, and all that that entails?
Har har.

>Who watches the Watchmen?
Fanboys.

>>38308897
>What would the battle be like if we took Niklaus or Takamura instead?
Different.

>>38308903
>you have any optional NG+ encounters to throw at us down the line?
Not sure what you meant by that.

>>38308909
>I don't follow FD but I would follow a Red Meteor Quest. That would be the the best quest ever. It will pick up immediately after this one and have copious time skips so that we see the rise of great Red Meteor from best loli to best adventurer.
I was planning on doing that, but have since decided that I'm done making new quests.

>>38308925
>>>Crash was the right move, and would have done damage had you opted to use Boost before doing so.
>Hah! Take that, anti-boost fags!
I tried to incorporate most of the stuff that you'd learned and acquired into that fight. Dunno how well it went over, but that was my intent.

>last call before I go to sleep

>>38308986
A situation focused on a group dynamic is conducive to getting everyone to seek harmony, rather than the bitter me-vs-you of singular character focus. There'd be disagreements, but much less vicious; consider how we've been dealing with Emilio x Karel. A quest where we begin with more of a specific party would be far easier to keep calm if you approached it right.

What's the ETA for a return to FDQ?
And will you consider running it alongside PGQ once more if the end drags out as long as I expect it to? Because you know perfectly well I wasn't kidding about that cake.
>>
>>38309014
Just how fucked is your sleep schedule?
You've run this quest for more then a year, when it's finally over, do you intend to celebrate?
What kind of spear do Nico use?
Is metal affinity OP?
When's mahvel?
Is Luci still up for adventuring?
How much are you going to need to rewrite the early chapters to keep characters consistent with their current personalities? (Reins relationship with citrine, for example)
Quickly, cake or pie, which is the better desert?

>>38308912
>Yes. Anything that Reinhold makes out of his bracelet is keyed to his personal magical signature and would die if left on Luciana from starvation.

And the symbolism of Reinhold giving Luciana a piece of his soul, only for it to shrivel up and die is, I guess, just a little bit less appropriate. Unless it were Sylvie playing through the route and she felt compelled to get one last dig in.

This has maybe two weeks left in it, and then I'm going to take a week off from questan because this shit is exhausting.

>And will you consider running it alongside PGQ once more if the end drags out as long as I expect it to? Because you know perfectly well I wasn't kidding about that cake.
Nope, no False Dendrite until Princess Guard is done.

>>38309063
>Yeah, I really liked our copious use of scrolls.
I'm glad that it was appreciated.

>>38309082
>Just how fucked is your sleep schedule?
Horribly.

>You've run this quest for more then a year, when it's finally over, do you intend to celebrate?
I intend to sleep.

>What kind of spear do Nico use?
It varies depending on the day.

>Is metal affinity OP?
Not really.

>When's mahvel?
Never.

>Is Luci still up for adventuring?
After what happened just now, even more so. This fight was like getting a taste of what she's dreamed of ever since she was a little girl and she wants MOAR.

>How much are you going to need to rewrite
the early chapters to keep characters consistent with their current personalities? (Reins relationship with citrine, for example)
Tons.

>Quickly, cake or pie, which is the better desert?
Pie is better for frequent eating, cake is better on special occasions.

The shitstorms have been pretty easy to predict, to be honest. When you're picking a waifu for your central character, you're guaranteeing incredibly unpleasant fighting over different groups' favorite girl. A romance scenario where you're trying to pair up matching personalities in a group is much calmer and more agreeable as there's no sense of having "your girl win"; while disagreements will happen, they're highly unlikely to be even a fraction as shitty as the ones in PGQ were.
>>
>>38309155
>"You should have quit while you were a head."
