"J-Jack, I think your inspection has lasted long enough." Noel tries to break your grasp of Pomelo and Bennet's tail.
"Eh, just another minute, Lass."

You are Jack Albator, pointed ear admirer, fluffy tail inspector, and just generally someone that most people stay out of arms reach from. Today you're launching a very precise military operation against another nation that has invaded your kingdom with a rogue hero. Charlotte is going to see if she can talk to the princess, and if she can't, you're going to take that princess!

Kidnapping princesses was never your thing, usually they're more trouble than they are worth.

So, here you are loading what is left of the cargo onto your fake merchant caravan. You've covered your lavishly beautiful outfit up with tattered rags to further drive home the image of the poor swindler traveling the open road. It's so much trouble for you to go through all of this, what are you gaining from it again?

Yuuki emerges from the castle, she's covered her glamorous dress in the humble wrappings of a fortune teller. Her gaze turns increasingly sad, and seems to fall downward. In her arms is a blanket coiling around the almost-unconscious form of the captured hero. She seems to have more strength, but is still clearly in pain.

That's when you remember; oh right, that's why you're doing this.

Your caravan is almost loaded, you brought along all the heroes, their princesses (including yours), Madeleine, and three knights from the castle to be pretend hired help.

And... in one of the wagons is a fluffy blonde tail that seems to be jutting out from under a cover. It tries to remain perfectly still as it occasionally twitches.

Slowly, your hand makes your way toward the yellow tuft of fur, it continues to twitch and curl among the baskets and crates inside of the cart.
You wrap your hand around it and squeeze!

There's a lightly pitched yelp from under the covers, the hairs on the fluffy appendage spring outward and greatly increase the size of it. It twitches several more times before laying perfectly still. Your fingers run through the blonde fur, it feels as soft as mink-skin. It violently represses the urge to twitch as your fingernails gently scrape against the roots of the hair and the soft skin on the surface.

That's when it pulls away from you with the force of a whip, a blonde-haired fox sits at attention from inside the wagon and glares at you with embarrassment.

"Hay Atsuko." You say, a mischievous smile plastered on your face. "Somethin' wrong?"
"YES!" She replies, grabbing her tail and straightening the fuzz on it. "I thought Fritelli or someone was going to break you of that habit!"

AH HA
"That's a good one, Lass! So.."
You grab a rope and fasten wheat sacks to the side of the wagon.
"Yer wantin' to go with us, don't ye?"

"No! Well..."
She looks down at her lap, sheepishly.
"Yes.."

You laugh, this isn't unexpected behavior from her.
"Alright Lass, but remember, Madeleine is goin' with us, someone has to stay with Keiko at the shrine."
"I will!" A voice from seemingly nowhere rings out.

From seemingly nowhere, Akiko pops her head up from right in front of you. She somehow hid herself less than a foot away from your face.
"Hee" She smiles, noticing the look on your face, "Did I scare ya?"
"Err, no no. Are ye okay stayin' with the young Lass?"
"I'm fine! I'm fine!" She grins as she hops up.

..But just before she does, she leans in to Atsuko and whispers something into her ear.
Something that causes her to blush bright red.

"I'm rooting for ya!" Akiko says as she hops out of the wagon. Atsuko's fist barely missing her sister as she does so.

"GGRRHH." Atsuko growls as Akiko happily hops away.
"Hay Lass, sure ye want to leave her with Keiko?"
"..No." She says grumpily.

"Yer call, now calm yer tail and put on clothes that make ye look poor-"
You think about the state of the Shrine's donation box.
"-er than ye already be."

She grumbles and makes her way to the back of the wagon. You smile as you inspect the wagon directly behind it, the one with Madeline.
Who is putting on an impressive display of wares and peddling. You would mistake the entire wagon as an actual traveling store with the way she has it dolled up.

"Done this before?" You ask Madeleine, who is counting pitchers of green goo.
"Unfortunately." She sighs, "You're looking at how I spent most of my childhood."

Ha! Good to have an expert on board.

You walk back to the wagon right behind it. This one has Charlotte and Louise, as well as the three knights flanking it.
"Holdin' up well?"
Louise hugs Charlotte, she smiles.
"As well as I can. Good job getting this together before noon."
"It's a pleasure."

You accost the knights.
"Ye all ready?"
"Yep!"
"I think so."
Bennet doesn't say anything, instead he lightly smiles as he wrenches his halberd in-hand.

"Ey Bennet, you're not still mad about the 'inspection' are ye?"
Still nothing.
"Come on! That wasn't even a close inspection!"
He eyes you suspiciously, you suppress a laugh and leave him with that.

And then the last wagon, the sad wagon.
Yuuki still has the sick hero on her lap. Cody is putting a dampened cloth on her forehead while keeping a blanket wrapped around her.
Anna watches from the back of the wagon solemnly, Amaretti continues to help Cody prepare cloths for her.

"Ye comin' along?"
"Yeah.." Yuuki is still sullen in tone.
"We'll make it. I'm sure of it." Cody pats Yuuki's shoulder.

Too depressing. But that looks to be all of them!

You go back to Atsuko's wagon, you have an idea.
"Ice Lass, I have an idea. If ye worried about where to leave Keiko, just take her with us."

Atsuko looks at you like you're insane.
"No way! Nuh uh! She doesn't get to go to somewhere dangerous, she's just a child!"

"I think it's a great idea!"
Akiko pops her head up from inside the wagon yet again. Atsuko turns to look at her in shock.
"I do too!"
And right next to her, Keiko pops her head up.

"W-W-WHEN DID YOU?"
"Great!" You clap your hands together, "It's settled!"
"It was gonna be a surprise!" Keiko happily chants.

You leave the three to their bickering as you see Cody approach. He has a confused look on his face.
"Err, Jack? How are we gonna get these wagons to Konditorei in under a day?"
"That's simple, Cody!"

You point to the airship.
"Ships can carry anythin'! Just balance it right and it'll be smooth sailin' all the way."

Cody takes off his hat and scratches his face.
"I don't think it works that way with these here airships."
You smile, "Trust me."

Up, up.
"And away!" You yell.

The massive craft now has the four wagons strategically placed on the deck. Each one sorted according to their weight to the ship's center of gravity.
Slowly, the massive behemoth shifts its weight as it ambles inch after inch off the ground. Soon enough, it's slowly picking up speed as it makes its way toward Konditorei.
You're currently flying this thing, and as long as the pilot or Amaretti don't find out, it'll stay that way. You estimate at the current speed, with this strong headwind, you can make it in six hours.

The sun is just setting beneath the horizon. Darkness and shadows seem to leap from every tree limb and conceal the creatures of the woods.

Most of them are fleeing at this moment, as their once peaceful clearing is now the site of a massive offloading operation. Wheeled carts, with their whispering passengers and noisy metallic trinkets have invaded the woods just outside the border to Konditorei.

"Oh god... That was so close."
The pilot heaves into a patch of brush as you pat her back.
"Lass, Aye've done this before. It was only a problem if any of 'em slid. And that's why I use chains."
"B-but.. it was so heavy.. and it was rocking, and- and-."
The poor pilot heaves into the brush again, you leave her to her illness and check up on how everyone is doing.

Tuile helps to secure the cargo and rebalance the wagons for traveling. For some reason, she seems very talented at these things that you would not have expected a princess to be skilled at.
Louise and Keiko play among the grassy field as everyone else fastens harnesses to birds and put on their best pauper disguises. Camille helps with that, disguises seem to be her thing.

"Where we goin first, Jack?" Cody has several bags of linens that he was planning on decorating the wagons with, apparently he's very talented at this as well.

>"Nearest town, make 'em think we're legitimate. We're gonna act like a proper caravan and hit up every rest area on the way."

>>

Head to the nearest town to see if we can learn anything from the citizens as we act like merchants. Since nobody has spy's here, let's see what the public might know or have been told in any event, what happened to the princess.

We only stay long enough to do all that then head towards the castle. The little hero needs to be returned asap after all

"Cody, Cody, Cody."

You help him with one of those linen bundles he's carrying and walk towards one of the carts.

"First rule of anything: never go in without liquor."
You throw the linens over the cart, disguising the otherwise fine craftsmanship.
"Secondly, ye never go somewhere unfamiliar without askin' someone first."

You hop on top of the wagon, getting the attention of everyone.
"First place we're gonna stop: Nearest town. If we follow this road north, we'll find a small village I spotted from the air. We gonna stop there and ask around about this Princess before we do anythin' else. We leave in the hour!"

You hop down just as Bennet approaches you.
"It's good to have a plan, but are we really going to approach a village as a fully-armed caravan? Should we wait here or come along?"
"Just hide yer weapons, Lad. And while yer here, maybe it's time for another-"

He grabs his tail and quickly walks away before you can finish.

"-I was gonna say drink, but that's fine too."
