You are Reinhold Eschenwald, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

One of many issues that you're forced to deal with at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

With Luciana secure and Leopold dead, you and the others decided to continue further into Ancellotta to try and rectify the last of the problems that bastard caused...

...but it seems like that problem's already rectified itself. No wonder the King and his brother weren't worried at all.

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a ferocious TIGER!
>Strong and fearless, tigers are the only predators known to feed on lesser dragons.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend and fierce protector!
>But while tigers truly are impressive, they still fall short of being considered as people.

>"Dear God..." Monique gasps as he looks at the scene of destruction that the gigantic stone titan's latest attack wrought. "Niklaus, do you have a clear bead on where Sir Vincent is yet?"
>"........." Niklaus comes to a stop.
>"What's wrong?" you ask.
>"......yes..." Niklaus says, taking off his glasses. "I know exactly where Sir Vincent is.

>And then he points up.

Sir Vincent was always a huge guy, but this.. this is just...

....if not for all the mental fatigue you're already feeling, you'd probably be completely losing it right now.

"You can't seriously be-" you stare up at the stone creature that's in the middle of tearing into Ancellotta's army. "How!?"
"It explains so much..." Niklaus mumbles. "Back when we fought, all of his spells... none of the Script even made sense in its composition..."
"I thought it was impossible to re-"
"IT IS!" NIklaus shouts. "But there are recognizable patterns, and everything that he conceptualized was completely random and now it turns out that he's..."

Niklaus is in the middle of losing it... and to your other side, Monique's just staring up.

"Another of her kind was here this entire time, and we had no idea..." Monique mutters to himself.
"C'mon, not you too," you groan.

This is a huge punch in the face to you as well, but this is far from the strangest thing that's happened in the past few days. Hell, everything about Inaba right now is way more of a shock.

"I will be fine," Monique says, turning back to you. "...so that is Sir Vincent... what exactly are we going to do about him? Does he even need our assistance?"

We just have to make a pit stop on the way out of town to get our girlfriend and roll on.

War is going to be declared regardless.

They lost their ace in the hole with Leopold getting destroyed.

They lost a lot of money they paid on mercs. Not to mention very few people will sign on with them, especially with how many mercs died.

Then they faced the wrath of Vincent.

The nobility, if it is alive should just pack up the money and bail afterwards.

repostan from last night.

>Vincent was always an Elemental Spirit. I dropped hints here and there, but nobody really took them seriously though there were a few folks who guessed correctly, I do admit.

>Sylvie's magical reserves are so stupidly high because of her direct lineage.

>Early on, he made comments about "Coming up with incantations so that Sylvie could use his spells" and the like, this was a problem for him because he normally doesn't NEED to use incantations at all.

>His opposition to Sylvie participating in Niklaus's experiments was because the crystals feed off of magical energy and Vincent happens to literally be MADE of the stuff. Those things creep him out for good reason.

>He read a few of the books in that Old Kings series and got super depressed because that could have easily been him. He likes PRosegana's story because it's the one that he could relate to the most, as well as it having a more or less happy ending.

>His meeting innawoods with Thierri and Raoul purposefully reflected that of Valikarias and Prosegana's.

>Vincent could speak people talk despite having spent his entire life in the wilderness because of his natural ability to understand languages.

>Thierri taught him magic because he naturally had no need to do so on his own. He had no name prior to meeting them and never got a chance to give one to himself because he got named before he could.

>Vincent had no knowledge of sexual stuffs because he's not even really a human. He has no instincts towards that end, and continues to be completely unknowing of anything to that nature unless it's spelled out to him.

>Thierri and Adrien weren't worried about him getting captured because they knew that he could literally walk back home without incident if he so desired. Vincent is stupidly hard to kill.

See if Niklaus can send up a flare, or amplify a yelled message. Then we should probably skedaddle, we can meet up with Vincent outside the city.
>>
>>38344352
If they make an act of war it means there is nothing holding anybody back from wiping their country from the face of the earth. Everybody would then have the totally justified right to blow them up.

I can just imagine this conversation.
I envision this conversation as Raoul commenting that the naked guy punching bears in the woods looks like a Vincent, with Thierri following this up with a question of the man's name. When Vincent replies with "Vincent", they seem surprised, and ask "Really?"
Vincent then states,"It is now."

This does lead to a direct attack on multiple nobles also in the past. Since the brother now shows what happened.

Have Niklaus blast whatever group of guards Vincent was about to smash. That ought to short circuit his SHASH RAGE with confusion long enough we can tell him everyone else is fine and it's time to go home now.
>>
>>38344676
Just want you to know I'll be pulling for you.
>>
>>38344754
Yeah. Sending in armies results in a great deal of innocents getting killed. Also pretty sure they'll be willing to turn over those responsible after the elemental attack.
>>
>>38344803
or he could throw him INTO THE SUN
>>
"...I dunno," you say, "but we ought to try and get his attention. Even though he seems to be totally fine, he was still kidnapped in front of two of his kids and everyone back home's still worried about him."

Everyone except Thierri and Adrien, at least.

"Yes, I suppose you have a point there," Monique replies. "So how are we to go about doing this? Should we try and get his attention directly, or maybe we could launch a couple of attacks from up here on those soldiers and hope he notices us that way..."

If you got Monique here to launch a flare or something, Sir Vincent might misconstrue that as an attack... but if you launch a few rounds of Twilight's Wake at the soldiers down there then THEY'LL notice you.

With slaves you don't NEED to industrialize.
The Romans had already discovered steam power, but they never bothered with it because they had slaves

Sticking to your plan, you launch several castings' worth of Twilight's Wake arcs directly at the unsuspecting soldiers who you so ruthlessly decided to target. It seems almost cruel to kill these poor bastards when they don't even know that you're here... but then you remember that every single bad thing that's happened today was because of this shithole of a country and any sentimentality that you'd been feeling is quickly washed away.

Twilight's Wake.

Arctic Blade.

Twilight's Wake.

Arctic Blade.

Staggering your attacks, you find yourselves drawing a pretty clear line towards your current position. And over in the scene of devastation that you're causing, the ice crystals that result from Monique's attacks are illuminated by the light from your projectiles... and soon that gigantic figure that's standing not too far from you takes notice.

With the sound of grinding stone, that titanic eye turns towards your position... and then you hear it.

>So, now that we have established that elemental spirits are naturally occurring liches with elements as a phylactery that can be killed so much they die to death anyway, what do we do with this information?

Let's assume that humans are soul + body.

The soul is the "core" of the human, while the body produces the magical energy required for the soul to continue to exist in this world. The soul strengthening causes the body to live longer, but the body weill eventually die and the soul will be lost in this instance.

For an Elemental Spirit, they're just a free-floating Soul.

This Soul acts as the core around which a great amount of magical energy is gathered, and this excess in turn allows the Soul to continue to exist. A certain amount of magical energy is spent in order to keep the Soul tethered to this plane of existence, and more still is used to form a vessel with which they interact with their surroundings, magic that they cast, etc.

Since they have no true "body" that they're tethered to, one would need to force them to expend magical energy beyond the limit at which a Soul can exist in order to kill them. Basically, their HP and MP bars are one, and everything they do whittles a little bit away from it.

Yeah, but I was suggesting to rip off the episodic bit. Get a code or savefile at the end of each chapter that remembers what you've done, next chapter is released, you're in buisness. Makes the wait less unbearable. Maybe even a progress report on the major events you've done.
>>
>>38346553
So will elementals die eventually by simply existing for long enough?
>>
>>38346553
>Basically, their HP and MP bars are one

Ok, now I'm getting worried about Vincent.
>>
>>38346602
No, they replenish the energy spent mrely by existing through absorbing it through their surroundings. This is the primary way that they increase their power, and staying in an area with the same magical type as theirs increases the efficiency of this method.

Forming a flesh-and-blood body and maintaining is also enough, as those produce magical energy on their own.
>>
>>38346611
and they're at like 5000 instead of the normal 100
>>
>>38346619
So I'm guessing Vincent is weaker than the average Elemental considering his young age and the fact that he's been living in a Water type area for the past 15+ years.
>>
>>38346648
which is offput by the fact that he formed a flesh and blood body, which produced magical energy.

Bad math that's not scaled with anything;

Let's assume that Vincent started out at 10000.

Being in human form gives him 75 a day, along with another 75 from the ambient magical energy around him. This builds up day by day, and there is no upper limit.

So basically, he's doing just fine.

I think if Rein kept a journal, it'd probably sound something like this.

I understand, and assume that the growth is additive, not multiplicative or exponential. What I am say is that, assuming that Vincent was a typical case (or as typical a case as one can get), he ended up growing extremely fast before diminishing returns tempered the growth.

Does that mean that, as a generality, elementals are vulnerable to protracted engagements? Basically hit and run on them until they starve to death, or throw away waves of conscripts etc.

Note, I mean 'vulnerable' in a relative sense. When your enemy can punch craters the size of your capital and regrow arms, you can't really say they're vulnerable to much at all.

Pulling Niklaus along as you go, you and Monique run down the roof and hop onto Sir Vincent's hand. Though Monique is forced to throw up an ice shield in order to protect the three of you from a sudden volley of fireballs, Sir Vincent is able to safely bring you close. From there, he lifts his arm and stops at the cavern in his head where his glowing eye is located... though you definitely feel uneasy about it, all three of you climb inside.

On second thought, this is probably the safest place for you to be.

"Where to?" Sir Vincent's voice echoes softly through his ocular cavern. "Don't tell me that Sylvie came out here with you..."
"No," you shake your head. "Luciana, Takamaru and Inaba are waiting for us in the forest."
"Luciana?" he sounds concerned. "Why the hell's she-"
"Leopold captured her but we were able to successfully get her back," Monique replies.

You hear what seems like a relieved sigh as Sir Vincent starts to move.

"Really?" he asks excitedly.
"Yeah," you nod.
"And then she proposed to Reinhold immediately afterwards," Monique laughs. "Strangest proposal I've ever seen."
"I dunno why my Sylvie wasn't good enough for you," Sir Vincent says in a melancholic tone, "but I guess I'm happy for the two of you."

You kind of want to punch Monique right about now.

It wasn't about her not being a good match, and it wasn't about wanting to keep a friendship uncomplicated.

No, which is why I'm not trying to silver-tongue a man who's literally the most blunt human being on the planet.

Reinhold didn't know any better and let his heart give his head the runaround, and he got burned by it.

Vincent had to learn EVERYTHING about being human from the ground up. If anyone in this entire story will be able to sympathize with blundering headlong into the minefield of human emotion it'll be him, even though he understands that it's his duty as a father to be in Sylvie's corner.

"It, uh..."

It's been a long time since you were put on the spot quite like this.

"...it wasn't that she wasn't 'good enough' for me, it's just that everything was really confusing back then and I'm really not the best with romantic relationships and..."
"Eh, it's okay," Sir Vincent sighs. "I've been there myself, and I'm not about to beat you up about it or anything... though I do suggest that you try not to find yourself alone with Angelique any time soon."
"...eheh..."

After shooting Monique a dirty glare, you get back to the main task at hand: directing Sir Vincent stomps his way out of Ancellotta's capital city. Though he's mostly ignoring the constant barrage of attack spells that slam against his body, you do notice that he's making no effort to avoid buildings to anything of that sort.

You guess this can be called passive destruction.

Once you reach the outskirts of town, the sounds of screaming soldiers and attack spells seem to lessen...

...and then you realize that seeing this gigantic stone beast of a man approaching must be absolutely nervewracking for Luciana and the others.

"Oh my..." Luciana gasps again when you get there, taking a few seconds to stop and stare at the spectacle. "S... Sir Vincent?"
"HEY LUCIANA," he replies. "YOU READY TO GO?"
"Y... yes, if you wouldn't mind."
"You really Valerie's papa?" Inaba asks.
"AS MUCH AS YOU'RE ELENA'S CUTE LITTLE BUNNY," he replies.
"Okay..." she smiles and nods.

Sir Vincent then brings the four of you back up to his eye... cavern... thing, and you help Luciana in after hopping down from his hand yourself.

"This is absolutely surreal..." Luciana says, her mouth agape.
"It sure is," Monique nods. "But now that we're all here, we can finally get back home."
"Yeah," you nod.

"Back to Granache..." you say to yourself with a smile on your face.
"Back to Granache it is!" Sir Vincent replies. "You guys didn't want a stop in Marconetti or anything?"
"No," Monique shakes his head, "It would probably do me well to visit my family before I head back."
"Alright then."

Stone seats rise from the "floor" of Sir Vincent's head's eyeball cavern... though this entire situation is absolutely bizarre, you decide to make the best of it and sit down. The others follow suit, including Niklaus, who finally seems to have snapped out of his daze.

"Takamaru," you turn to your fellow bodyguard, "could you make two more of those paper birds for me?" you ask. "I went to send messages back home to Granache and another to Marconetti."
"Very well," he replies.

After unfolding the paper, you pull the pencil that you used last time out of you pocket and begin writing.

"On the way back home," you write. "Found Vincent, nobody ever tells me anything."

While you understand why it was kept a secret, you can't help but feel just a LITTLE bit sore.

"This is Reinhold Eschenwald," you write in the second note. "We've rescued Luciana and are on the way back to Granache. Leopold Massenet is dead, and Luciana herself struck the final blow. In addition, Sir Vincent has destroyed a large portion of Ancellotta's capitol city."

Finished writing, you hand the two notes back to Takamaru and specify which one is which. After he folds them into their bird shapes, they soar off towards their respective destinations.

You look at the pencil in your hand for a few seconds, twirling it around as you steal a glance at Luciana. Though part of you definitely would like to, continuing your little "game" with Luciana while sitting inside the head of the father of the girl who you turned down just seems like a Bad Idea.

A very bad idea.

So instead, you lean back and close your eyes.

"Umm..." Luciana mumbles. "...Sir vincent?"
"Yeah?"
"...how long ago was it that you ascended?" she asks. "I always thought that Aunt Ariane would be the first person I knew to do so, but it turns out that you have..."
"I didn't," Sir Vincent replies.
"Eh? T- then how are you... -this-?" she asks, spreading her arms.
"I was always like this," he laughs. "Yanno, like those guys in the books that you and Marianne like reading so much."
"Wow..." she gasps.

"W- well umm," Luciana stammers, "did you happen to know any of the Old Kings before they were sealed? Anrasorana... or even Setsuranka?"
"Alsiradna's the only other Elemental Spirit who I ever actually met," Sir Vincent replies, "and I'd only seen two winters before Thierri and Raoul found me way back when."
"You're THAT young!?" she gasps. "That would mean that you're not even a decade older than Marianne and myself!"
"Pretty much!" he laughs.

While Luciana continues to grill Sir Vincent with all sorts of questions, you feel the mental fatigue of everything that you've been put through today pulling you away from the realm of consciousness...

>You forgot to mention the fact that Sylvie's element is Earth despite direct lineage to a Water Elemental from being of the royal line
That's been diluted through nearly a thousand years' worth of generations so it's not nearly as definite a rule as you think.
Hell, Gregory and his sister are proof of this.

>>38348051

True route is this route.

>>38348887
>Is it possible, or has it ever occurred, that two elements have produced a quasi- or para-elemental affinity?
Nope, not possible.

>>38348893
>How did Monique and Setsuranka react to Reinhold's dirty glare?
Monique immediately realized that he hit a sore point. Setsuranka called him stupid for it.

>You mentioned Setsuranka has had several human lovers. Is she sexually frustrated right now? Can Sealed kings even get sexually frustrated?
Setsuranka doesn't get sexually frustrated, the only longing she has is for companionship period. And Monique is almost constantly talking to her so she's currently suffering no loss of that.

He's since been informed that Leopold is a traitor.

Depends on how much work I have to put into it/how long it is/etc.

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this. The thing I am looking forward to when getting the VN would be playing a new route rather then replay then on we have already played. But I understand that you gotta start soemwhere. And having the single route availble does give us an alternative.

Yes. He thinks that Reinhold's a pretty cool guy, and the way that Sylvie's eyes would light up when talking about him filled his stony heart with warm fuzzies.

This wouldn't happen at all in Sylvie's route.
