You are Kat. A charismatic streetwise orphan turned Pokemon trainer. You, your Pokemon, and your human friends are collecting badges, fighting Team Imperium, sometimes getting involved with local affairs, and exploring together. One day you'll become a Pokemon master and prove that you're worth something!

Recently: You contacted a Devon Corp representative in your bid to get an advanced cybernetic eye for Robin. Things look promising and you're on your way to Alloycaster to meet him and to earn your next badge. You stopped Vance's Sneasel from forcefully evolving Eevee into a Jolteon. It evolved on it's own into a Sylveon instead. You beat Eddie in a rematch and he's agreed to owe you a big favor.

"I think this will be fun," Jeanine says as you make your to Alloycaster. "We just need to find a way to stand out in the crowd."

Clair looks uncharacteristically optimistic too. "For once I agree. The type of people that chase fame are usually pretty dumb. We should be able to stick out more than Jeanine does in that top."

Jeanine gives Clair a sarcastic but playful look and sticks her chest out defiantly. Clair grumbles.

Robin has her Joltik out. It rides on her shoulder, firing small webs at various small targets whenever she makes a specific gesture at them. It's a fun little game they like to play.

Vance stretches his arms out. His bulging muscles are well-defined even on the shaded trail. “So what’s the plan?”

You ask about the city. You feel a bit sheltered, because everyone in the group seems to know about it except you.

Alloycaster is half a mining town, and half a vacation spot. The sunny shoreline is home to many cafes. It has a small surfer counter-culture, as well as a downtown media hub. It's the happening place to be.

People looking to make a name for themselves or get noticed on television wait outside the Pokemon Television Network station hoping their signs get picked up.

The hip crowd hangs on the boardwalk. It's not rare to see dance circles and impromptu coordinator performances.

On the waters people surf and show off acrobatics. You can surf on a board with Pokemon or surf on your Pokemon themselves. It's all about making a splash.

The mining happens more inland, near the edge of the city out of view of most people. Although there are a few specialized underwater mining locations off the coast too.

You nod, taking in all the information. “So about sticking out. Are we talking punk makeover for everyone? Show off our talents? Trashing the local mall?”

You catch Vance glancing between you and Robin’s eye, but he tries to hide it. “I’m down for whatever. Just let me know what you think is best and I’ll back it one hundred percent.”

Jeanine smiles wickedly. “Going all punk could be fun! Just leave the makeup to me!”

Clair looks in favor. “Being a rude punk will definitely get you noticed. Alloycaster chumps are always impressed by people that act like they don’t give a crap about them. Plus you get to say what you want.”

Robin meekly pets Joltik. “I don’t know about trashing a mall...My dad would be really mad if I were arrested.” As she says that last part, she seems to become less opposed.

“That punk makeover might be a good idea, but let’s hold off until we get a better feel for what’s going on there.”

Jeanine puts away her makeup case, but keeps eying you and Robin like you’re delicious prey. “Okay, I’ll keep it ready until then.”

Robin hides behind you.

You arrive at the outskirts. You see some mining setups off in the distance, but you won’t be passing them directly though.

“There should be a Pokemon center down the main road,” Robin says.

Just as you start getting close to it, you see a familiar face. Scratch that, a few familiar faces. It’s Junior, and he’s arguing with that rich jerk, Richard. You call him Dick though.. Dick’s entourage seems to have grown into a small crowd.

“I said, watch where you’re going, you little dweeb. Or are you looking for a fight?” He shifts his scarf casually, showing off his eight badges.

Junior pauses for a second, but can’t keep his temper under control. “You bumped into me!” A larger crowd is gathering, making Junior even more unsure.

“What if I did? Serious trainers should have right of way.” He throws up his hands. “So are you going to do something about it?”

You take a breath and close your eyes. It’s time to make an entrance.

"Hey now, you shouldn't bully little kids! That's not nice at all Junior, it's not his fault he's emotionally retarded."

Everyone turns to face you. You don’t even slow down as you brush passed Dick and Junior, giving them a not-so-subtle shove with your shoulder as you do so.

It takes Dick a second to get over his shock. He finally says something before you get too far. “Hey! What’s the big idea? Are you blind?”

You smirk and turn around. “Oh, I thought serious trainers had right of way.” You give a challenging glare. “You going to do something about it?”

The silent crowd gives a few muted oooohs. Someone declares that you did not just say that.

“I remember you,” his voice is low and menacing. You tossed his badges into the bushes before. He probably had to look for them for a long time. In all honesty, you were just trying to avoid battling him while still saving face. But that was then.

Junior brightens up on seeing you, but his face goes back to anger as well. “Hey! Is everyone going to just ignore me?”

You give Junior a confident smile. “I think Dick here is just avoiding you because he’s scared. Maybe you should take him on.”

Junior nods and turns to Dick. “Ha! You are scared, aren’t you?”

“Nobody cares about you, twerp. I need to teach this bumpkin a lesson,” Dick says. “Unless she’s just all talk! How many badges do you even have?” He flips his scarf again. Oh, he actually has a ninth. You only need eight for the league, but there’s no rule stopping you from getting more.

Your friends step up beside you.

You give Junior a pat on the back, letting him know to let you take it from here. He reluctantly backs down. You can tell he feels a bit out of his league on this.

You turn to Richard. “Who’d be scared of a little Dick like you?”

The crowd liked that one.

“My name is Richard,” he growls. “Are you going to battle me, or are you not as dumb as you look? How many gym leaders did you have to blow to get this far, huh?”

He’s losing his cool. The fact that he has nine badges already is a little alarming, but you have Devon to fall back on, right? Besides, you have to take risks as a Pokemon trainer. “Yeah yeah, I guess I could use a break. We’ll battle.” You make a show of looking bored as you do a little stretching.

“You stuck up little cu-”

His large friend puts a hand on his shoulder. “Dude, calm down.”

Dick takes a second to regain control. “You’re right. She’s not worth getting worked up over.” He tries working the crowd. “My Pokemon are custom trained from the best tutors in the region, given the best supplements and fed the best foods there are. I don’t need to talk big like some street trash.” He smirks. “Oh, don’t like that word? Did I strike a nerve?”

“S-She’s going to destroy you!” Robin interjects. “People like you don’t know anything about Pokemon!”

He laughs. “Maybe after I beat your friend, you’ll give me a private lesson?”

Vance instinctively puts a hand on your shoulder in case you move in to deck the bastard.

You keep your cocky vibe. He's got a short fuse and you want to take advantage of that. “I was going to suggest three, but I can only beat up two of your Pokemon if you want.”

He laughs loud and hard. “You talk big, but are you really confident? You scuffed my shoes, so you’re going to have to bet a lot to make up for it.” He proposes a large amount. More than what most people would have on hand. You know what he’s doing though. He wants you to counter offer a small amount so you look weak.

All in all it’d be about three quarters of your money. If you lost, you’d be back to having to watch your money. If you won though, you’d be doing really well.

You notice Clair hiding her face a bit. You think she wants to avoid letting Dick see her.

Oh, right. You saw his badges. He must have beaten her before.

He grins, expecting you to have to ask to lower the bet. The crowd grows still, waiting for your answer. “She’s going to back out, watch,” one of his groupies says, loud enough for you to hear.

You keep up the disinterested air you've been cultivating. “Works for me, if that’s all you can spare.”

He turns from chatting with his friends. He’s obviously shocked you accepted. “Whatever. This is why poor people stay poor.” He reaches for a Pokeball. He’s going to throw it out first!

Not wanting to get overly reckless, you let him toss his Pokemon out first. “Normally It's polite to let ladies go first, But you’re such a little Dick I guess you count too.”

“My name is Richard, and I’d think twice about calling yourself a lady, bitch! Go, Garchomp!” His special looking Pokeball sails through the air and releases his Pokemon is an extra sparkly, showy manner.

The fierce Dragon gives a professional grunt of acknowledgement as it raises it’s razor sharp arms in preparation to fight.

You do realise if we use Zappy Dan thats basically throwing this fight, because there is nothing Zappy could do against a Garchomp.
None of his moves are even remotly effective against him, and we need to start out with Magnet Rise to not get insta-killed with Earthquake.
>>

You try to look unimpressed as you casually reach for a Pokeball. “Destiny! Let’s go!”

Dick looks at it in disbelief. “That’s it? It’s not even fully evolved!” He starts laughing. His followers laugh too, backing him up.

Robin grits her teeth. “It’s not nice to laugh at a Pokemon! They don’t have to evolve to be strong! Destiny’s trained really hard!”

You love Robin, but she has no idea what it takes to work a crowd. The more seriously she takes this, the less seriously the crowd takes her. You put a hand on her shoulder and bring her back gently.

“Great, now I have to waste my time on this joke of a match. Let’s get this over with.” He looks a little relieved.

“Smokescreen! Destiny!”

“Dragon Rush! Wipe it out!”

Both Pokemon spring into action. Garchomp moves faster, slashing at Destiny right before getting a blinding, oily cloud of smoke right in it’s eyes. It still manages to land it’s attack on her, but it looked sloppy.

Garchomp tries to flail at her as she bounces away. You’re sure that if Destiny had gone first, Garchomp would have missed wildly. At least now she has the advantage for the next move.

The crowd grows larger and more interested.

Richard stomps his feet. “Garchomp! Focus! Don’t let some amateur trick get to you, you’re bred for this!”

“You idiot! I have the perfect counter for that! Hone Claws!”

Garchomp sharpens it’s razor wings against each other. You feel like it’s also getting a better sense for where Destiny will be moving as she bounces around.

You take this chance to go on the offensive. “Ice Beam!”

A strong, cold beam explodes from Destiny, nailing Garchomp dead on. It instantly covers the threatening dragon in ice, keeping it unable to move.

The crowd goes wild as Garchomp can’t move. Richard looks on in stunned disbelief before getting a hold of himself again.

That snooty girl with annoying laugh yells over at you. “You got lucky. Garchomp isn’t technically out yet, so don’t get cocky!”

She’s right, Garchomp still might be able to break loose.

“Come on! Break out and shred that little runt of a Pokemon!” Richard screams at his pedigree monster.

“Garchomp! Break out this instant!”

The Dragon Pokemon struggles in the ice in futility. You feel a bit bad for it, given it’s trainer.

“Come on Destiny, Finish it off with another Ice Beam,” You say in a muted tone.

The crowd yells loudly as Destiny does a showy flourish in the air and lets another Ice Beam loose. Garchomp is coated in an impossibly thick layer now. It shatters under the intensity and Garchomp falls to the ground, completely out.

It’s a humiliatingly quick defeat of Dick’s first Pokemon. You see him grinding his teeth in anger, but still trying his best not to show it.

He pulls Garchomp back and reaches for another ball. He’s probably going to throw out a counter to Destiny. If you act quick, you can toss out another Pokemon at the same time.

You both command at the same time.

He folds his arms, pleased with himself. “Electivire, use Shockwave!”

“Scald! Hot as you can!”

You see him unfold his arms as Destiny coats his Pokemon is scalding hot water, leaving a harsh burn. Electivire doesn’t pause though, and nails Destiny with his retaliatory strike. As agile as she is, she can’t evade it.

Even though it’s a super effective move and the same type as Electivire, you’re still surprised at how powerful it is. You grudgingly admit to yourself that his Pokemon have an impressive amount of raw power.

She lands on the ground, unable to battle. Although most of the crowd that isn’t in his entourage seems to be cheering for you, they still all go nuts at seeing your Pokemon knocked out.

He flips his scarf, trying to win back his dignity with that turnaround. “Ha! Idiot! I told you not to mess with me. Hurry up and bring out the next victim so I can wrap this up. I have places to be, you know.”

You bring back Destiny, giving her praise for a job well done. You have to be careful. he may be a jerk, but he wasn’t exaggerating the strength that his Pokemon have.

You have to choose your next Pokemon

“Trunks, I choose you!” You throw out your trusty Trevenant. The people in the crowd closest to him back away as he cackles maniacally and clicks down his little roots over the ground.

“Figures you’d try to just get the type advantage with a grass Pokemon,” he mocks, completely ignoring the fact that he did the exact same thing by using Electivire.

You don’t fall for his bait. Wants you to point it out in your defense. When it comes to crowds, the debater that looks like they have to try to defend themselves comes off looking worse. “You’re acting pretty confident for someone who claimed he could take me out with just one Pokemon.”

“Alright! We all get it. You got a lucky shot. It doesn’t mean anything if you lose!” He begins commanding his Pokemon.

He got his Pokemon bred, trained and pumped up for him. The chances of him actually knowing all of his moves instead of the most efficient powerful ones is pretty small.

Just hope the kid was decking out his pokemon and with it only being able to learn 2 fire move and with this things physical attack so much higher than it's Sp Att that he would feel comfortable being able to rely onother type moves, (specifically electric) for is he was ever burned
>>

>>
>>38367222
Far as I can tell he's won nine badges because he's thrown money at the problem of training pokémon instead of actually training them himself.

So while his pokémon can have enough raw power to batter their way through a gym fight, he's at a disadvantage against a trainer who actually has battling skills, since he lacks his own.
>>
We should teach Trunks Shadow Claw.

>>38367238

Ok poor choice of words, he is arrogant as all fuck, and a dick because he is arrogant. Beating nine different gyms inflates his ego to the size of the moon and beyond, so im not going to count him as a moron even though he acts like one.
>>
It used Shockwave before when there are many much better options.

Shockwave is weak as shit compared to thunder or thunderbolt.

Which implies that this thing can't be THAT good if he didnt even plan for a burn with a strong electric special move.
>>

“Screech!” He yells as he tries to take the initiative.

He barely manages to land the attack on Trunks. You see the soundwaves just catch Trunks, causing him to shudder. It’s like a thousand nails on a chalkboard.

“Leech Seed, Confuse Ray! Let’s go!”

Trunks spits a series of small seeds. They instantly sprout when they land. He follows up with a purple ball that waves through the air and lands on Electivire.

“Come one! Fire Punch!”

Damn. It’s coming in fast and you barely have time to react. Trunks has proven he can stick around in a fight when it gets tough, but at the same time you saw the sheer power he was able to pull off with Shockwave. This’ll be dicey.

You can try to dodge, but you’re at a disadvantage since he’s already closing in. You can also just hope the confusion alone is enough to stop it or Trunks can survive the blow and hit back.

“Phantom Force! Hurry!”

Right before Trunks manages to vanish, Electivire temporarily works through it’s confusion (98) and lands Fire Punch (18). You see Trunks go crosseye’d before ceasing to exist on this plane. With Leech Seed in play and because of how the punch landed, you can’t be entirely sure if he was knocked out, or just hurt.

Milliseconds stretch for an eternity. Time lazily waddles by the fight as the crowd holds its collective breath, unsure of what’s going to happen next.

If Trunks comes back but is knocked out and you try to taunt or work the crowd, you’ll look like a total idiot. If he’s fine though, he might score the victory blow on Electivire.

You say nothing and wait to see what happens.

The a deafening silence breaks as Trunks reappears and comes tumbling down from above.

Different groups of people gasp or cheer or both at Trunks’ defeat. It looks like the end.

But you know better. You see him absorb more energy from leech seed before springing back to action. He strikes with Phantom Force hard, right into Electvire, sending him sprawling backwards until he lands on his back.

The ground shakes with the crowd reacting. Even some of Dick’s followers look impressed. You can’t hear a thing as the sound of the audience overtakes your ears.

Dick quickly springs to action.

Crap! Electivire is getting him. He looks completely worn out, but Dick is telling him battle on. The burn and Leech seed will probably take it down any second now. Any normal Pokemon shouldn't be able to stand after all that. These things are unfairly strong.

Trunks looks slightly better thanks to Leech Seed, but there’s no way he can survive another blow.

You know Electivire is faster, but you can see he’s still confused. You’ll either need a good plan or to get lucky. You just need to hold on a little longer. If you had a long ranged attack you might have an easier time picking him off.

Phantom force, like Fly, gives a turn of invincibility based on speed. Trunks is slow, so he takes a hit on the first turn and is invincible for the second as he attacks after.

You yell to Trunks to use his special move. You see Dick yelling at his Pokemon too, but can’t hear what he’s saying. You hope that Trunks can hear you.

Electivire closes in with a flaming fist, but Trunks moves first thanks to how his unique move works. He’s intercepted by a solid barrier that Trunks summons. The crowd is confused and surprised and happy and angry at this sudden move.

Nobody is more confused than Electivire as his fist shatters the block in his way. It explodes into a thousand pieces that fade away.

Electivire takes one more step towards Trunks before Leech Seed and the Burn take their toll. He collapses with a raised fist.

And the crowd goes wild. Your friends crowd around you as people begin to close in from all sides. You see some recording devices in the crowd.

You pet Trunks and praise him for a great fight before putting him back in his Pokeball. You don’t want to lose track of him in this crowd.
“Hey, Richard,” You make a point of not being insulting. “That was a good match. I mean it. Really close.”

He fumes. Nobody can doubt the sincerity in your voice, which is what probably gets to him the most. He mutters something and snaps his fingers. Most of his entourage leaves with him.

But it’s so much less of the crowd than at the start.

You grab Robin and give her a long, passionate kiss. It’s a mix of incredibly loving and incredibly lewd. It stuns the crowd before they redouble their excitement. Robin heaves her chest when you break it.

People crowd around all over now. You’re nearly buried under the crowd as they gather around and pepper you with questions. Someone asks about the move Trunks used. Another asks what town you hail from. A few people recognize Clair and ask her some questions. Some ask about Robin. One person asks if your group of friends are all members of your rockstar harem. Someone else asks Robin about her eye. Most of the other questions are more reasonable though.

[That’s it for today. I have to leave now. I’ll answer any questions for the next bit. What did everyone think of the dice?]

I don't know, I'm not opposed to them, although it was a bit confusing.

Yeah pretty much this, if you want to continue using die. Tough it would mean that you would need to know the accuracy rating of most of the moves.

I would recommend using 1d10 instead of a 1d100 this is because d100 gives the illusion that the higher the roll the better it connects which is not true.
But yeah the dice do add a bit more suspense to the fights, but personally i dont like the dice too much

Ah right. I was somewhat poaching the PTU rules. I ahven't read the most recent release though, so I might be off.

A roll is both accuracy, crit, and special effects. For Scald for example, since it has a 30% chance, so a 70+ roll gets a burn. By default there's a 6.25% chance to crit, so a 94+ is a crit. I rolled twice for Electivire because it was confused. Since confusion is 50/50, a 50+ meant it actually attacked, then the second d100 I rolled was accuracy like normal.

Would we have had a chance in that fight sans dice?

Hard to say.

Robin's dad is going to see Robin kissing Kat on TV, eyepatch and all, isn't he?

And he's going to lose his shit hard, i'm guessing?

Yeah. Getting the 91 for the freeze on Ice Beam was a pretty lucky break, but then again the dice really screwed Kat on the confusion. Keeping him from being able to directly land blows for the most part really helped.

Yes yes and more yes. The next time you meet him will be interesting, if he doesn't have a stroke first

We really are a good trainer

Was the whole battle captured on video by any hype onlooker?
