You are Shee Hyul, rebel leader, psychic and Reunited. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.

You’ve just defeated, no, wiped out, and army by summoning a monster that ate most of them, the remnants are fleeing into the jungle. Among the consumed was one of Jane Vindels puppets, or clones, or whatever they’re called. Now she knows that you’re here, and will be planning accordingly. She might leave this place, as useful as it is to her, or she might use it to attack you, thinking that you’ve walked into the perfect (if perhaps unplanned) trap.

Camping here seems like a foolish plan so you relocate and set a watch in case any of the fleeing beastmen stumble across you. The night passes mostly uneventfully; A few predators scope out your encampment but scatter quickly when confronted with laser bolts and plasma bursts.

The morning brings with it another hot and humid day. You and your companions rise and well...enjoy isn’t the right word but you have a breakfast of preserved foods, enough to keep you going. Lirael supplements her breakfast with several of the bloodfruits you’ve bought with you, tearing into them with gusto. Your other companions are less enthusiastic about their meals, but don’t waste time with complaints.

Finally, you’re ready to start the day, but what to do?
>>
All around you lies hostile jungle. Ahead lies a vast barrier of spider webs, impossible to move through without cutting or burning you way through it and you still have no idea where Jane Vindels base or hideaway is. And finally, the mind of the forest itself is all around you. You spoke to it before but even a short exchange took hours. Still, it might be your best hope of locating Jane Vindel without spending days trudging through a vast jungle.

Forest bro will help us.

>>
>>38393754
Daughter of the Tyrantslayer
>>
>>38393803
Best name it is then, I was going to add a vote for that to my post but my brain would not let me spell Daughter.
>>
>>38393831
As long as we don't know what this thing is, I would not bring dad into this.
He made a pretty large variety of enemies.

Assuming this thing even gives a shit about names at all, which I kind of doubt.

If we bring dad into this we learn if it cares about such things, if things go wrong we're faster than it is.
>>
>>38393898
>we're faster than it is
Its literally everywhere around us.
I wouldn't bet on that, especially since we win nothing by bringing it up.
>>
>>38393898
We would also lose our current best chance at finding and ending Jane.

Oh, and keep in mind that it's been blocking our attempts to see anywhere too far from ourselves in the canyon effortlessly in spite of being slower, so I wouldn't rely on that to keep it from hurting us if it wants to.
>>
“Again?” asks Rainya as you settle down against a tree after telling the others to keep watch. Kaelyn and Dev simply nod and accept your decision, Lirael pouts when you tell her that she won’t be joining you.

“Yes again” you say to Rainya “I think this thing is the whole forest, and perhaps something more besides, it might be the only way to find her.”

“Alright” says one of the Rainyas, shrugging as they all take up position around your small encampment.

You reach out to the forests mind and sink into a deep connection with it.

-WHAT ARE YOU?- the vast mind enquires

-I’m Shee- you say, there doesn’t seem much point in hiding your name, Jane Vindel already knows you are here, and this thing probably hasn’t heard it.

-WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?- it asks

-I come from a long way away- you say –from outside the canyon-

-OUTSIDE? ARE YOU LIKE THE CREATOR?- it asks. You sense some sort or turmoil in its mind but don’t know what it means.

-Who is the Creator?- You ask

-THE CREATOR MADE ALL- responds the mind

-I’d like to know more please- You say, if Jane Vindel made something like this, just how powerful is she? This forest mind can brush you aside with its sheer strength easily.

-ONCE THERE WAS NOTHING, ONLY DREAMS, THEN I AWOKE AND SAW THE WORLD. THEN THE CREATOR CAME AND TOLD ME THAT SHE MADE THE WORLD AND MADE ME AND THAT SHE WAS PLEASED AT WHAT SHE HAD MADE- responds the forests mind.

Huh, so it existed before she showed up perhaps? –That sounds incredible- you say politely –then what happened?-

-AT FIRST I DID NOT BELIEVE, FOR THE CREATOR WAS SO TINY, SO HARD TO SEE. I DENIED HER, SHE DEMONSTRATED WHAT SHE WAS BY CREATING MORE, AND BY SHOWING ME WHAT PAIN IS. I DO NOT LIKE PAIN.- it explains.

>>

He doesn't believe that anyway. He believes she is the creator because she created things.

>>38394174
We could probably make it work with Corruption.
>>
>>38394174
The power dealt with plants in general whether in the realm or not. Specifically, in relation to the realm, it makes the plants created there persist when removed. Everything else about Fecundity of the Ocean was about plants in the real world, including the blood growth.

Whether or not Shee knows it, she's got instincts related to her powers that have been touched on before. Unless Pally tells us "you need someone/something to introduce that", we can usually vote to do it.

As for the order of the sentences being a factor, no. It's already been stated that the only reason we didn't have plants growing everywhere after the knife blew up on us was because the blood was flowing over antinite before it hit the ground.
>>
>>38394222
>including the blood growth
Again, there is no evidence to that, and we can't create plants outside of our Realm, so until we get indication it works like that, its a foolish thing to assume it does.

Also, there's one from a couple hours ago that, while not directly stating it's possible to grow plants with our blood here, heavily implies that it is. http://ask.fm/AnAspiringQM/answer/125048764972
>>
>>38394243
We can't create plants from nothing outside of the realm because that's not what the power does. It makes it so that our blood encourages plant growth. The realm itself and our control over that is what we're using to create plants in there, FotO just enhances that. You're conflating two different but related things.
>>
>>38394222
Factually, no plants grew when our blood was sprayed around in the fight against the shadow vamp.

>>38394261
Which appears to have been a oversight on Pallys part, then.
To be fair to the other anon, not everyone reads the ask.fm. Usually we keep questions to the thread for that reason.
>>
Your blood *does* grow plants outside your realm. My apologies for not being clear about this.

IC Shee knows this would happen, but not the specifics (how big a plant, what type, does it die if it grows on concrete etc)
>>
>>38394295
>Which appears to have been a oversight on Pallys part, then.
That's probably what happened seeing as he forgot we had Divert teleport during that fight and that's way more relevant than FotO 99% of the time.

But I'd rather think that Shee just didn't care enough about it for it to be mentioned in the narrative. Like, "Oh, my blood is growing plants. That's so normal I shouldn't even have to mention that. Would you specifically mention that the ground got wet if your blood landed on it? No? Then why do I have to mention that mine made it plants".

>>38394324
Thank you.

-Tell me more about what you are- you say to the forest mind

-I AM ALL- the mind responds –I AM THE JUNGLE, THE PLANTS AND THE TREES, I BIND ALL TOGETHER-

-Is that how you can see me?- you ask –Because I’m not a part of you? Why are you stopping me from looking ahead?–

-THE CREATOR SAYS ALL THOSE FROM OUTSIDE MST BE TRACKED AND KEPT FROM USING ANY FORM OF *MAGIC* TO SEE VERY FAR.- It responds

Damn, so maybe Jane Vindel knew you were here, but if so, why not attack straight away? You formulate your next question –How are you tracking me? And how can you stop me so easily?-

-WHEN I WAS CREATED I COULD SEE THROUGH ALL EYES, HEAR THROUGH ALL EARS, FEEL ALL THINGS, AND I COULD USE WHAT THE CREATOR CALLS *MAGIC*-

Well that explains that. –And why are you talking to me- you ask –Has the Creator not given you other orders?-

-THE CREATOR WISHES TO KNOW WHERE ENEMIES ARE, AND THAT I ATTACK THEM- It says, then seems to hesitate before adding –I DO NOT KNOW WHAT AN *ENEMY* IS, THE CREATORS EXPLANATION SEEMED TO INDICATE A PREDATOR, BUT THERE ARE MANY PREDATORS THAT ARE PART OF ME, AND THIS DID NOT MAKE SENSE. YOU HAVE NOT KILLED, YOU HAVE HIDDEN, I THINK YOU ARE NOT A PREDATOR OR AN *ENEMY*-

You’re suddenly very glad you weren’t more trigger-happy when you arrived.

-I think the Creator has deceived you- you say –You told me that you were aware before the Creator came to you, perhaps she didn’t create you at all, perhaps you came into being another way and she simply found you-

-THE CREATOR MADE ME- it say stubbornly –THE CREATOR SHOWED ME HOW SHE MAKES THINGS, AND SHE PROVED SHE WAS MIGHTIER BY HURTING ME. SHE IS THE CREATOR-

-If she was the Creator- you say –Why would she need to hurt you?-

-SHE IS THE CREATOR- it insists, then adds –TELL ME ABOUT OUTSIDE?-

Kaelyns voice comes again “Shee we’re going to bed”.

Better to get done fast, I'm worried about her using the time to kidnap our people to use against us.
>>
>>38394463
>Undermining Jane's claims by explaining the nature of the Reunited and the contest
I can see that?
But I don't think the benefit would outweight the cost here.
It would already need to believe us for it to work, and in that case demonstrating we can create to, already undermines her claim sufficiently.

And then there is the issue that she might have told him all Reunited are enemies.
>>
>>38394503
I agree, that's why I didn't vote for it. I just thought I'd try my hand at explaining the possible rationale of those that did.
>>
We do have the option of using Corruption to make this quick but we could easily fail so we would need to explain that we were giving it part of us so it could understand us better.
>>
>>38394468
I don't see evidence of abnormal time flow.
Our talking to it only takes so much time because the thing is huge and slow.
It might be a huge fae like Geheganesh, but since his arrival was a pretty big deal, I can't imagine Kae wouldn't know about a second.

Some sort of magical intelligence seems more likely.
Possibly the remnant of the war, given that the War Follower is here.

You break off from your conversation just long enough to say to Kaelyn “I’m going to keep going, don’t worry about me.”

Kaelyn says something else, a worried look on her face as you sink back into the mental connection with the forest mind.

-My home is far from here- you explain as briefly as you can about the Hive, the people living in it, and your own Realm. The forests mind is intrigued by the realm you made and keeps asking questions about it.

-ARE YOU A CREATOR TOO?- it asks

-There are some things I can create- you answer. You return your consciousness to your body long enough to cut yourself with a knife, your blood spilling on the ground. As it soaks into the soil you look around. Your body feels stiff and unresponsive and the campsite around you has a latrine pit, a cooking shelter made from spare tent sheets and several other small embellishments. Only Dev and a couple of the Rainyas are nearby, of Kaelyn, Lirael and the rest of the Rainyas there is no sign, but Dev and the Rainyas don’t seem worried, perhaps they just went for a short walk after setting all of that up.

You sink back into the mental connection with the forest mind as beside you, strange multi-headed flowers and weeds sprout.

-WHAT ARE THESE?- asks the forest mind –PLANTS BUT NOT A PART OF ME? HOW?-

-I told you I can create some things- you answer –I still think the Creator has lied to you- you try to persuade it –I don’t think she made you at all and-

-I CAN USE THESE- says the forest mind, ignoring your attempt to convince it –I CAN LINK THE NEARBY PLANTS TO THEIR ROOT SYSTEMS AND-

You feel like something is brushing across the surface of your skin, and then everything seems to go dark.

-What is happening?- you ask the forest mind, as you start to wonder exactly what it just did, you think you should be worried, but you oddly feel calm, so calm, and so tired....
>>
You feel a familiar touch on your mind, then it is gone again, there, and gone again, is that...Lirael?

-What are you doing?- you ask it

-THE PLANTS YOU CREATE ARE AMAZING!- says the forest mind excitedly –THEY ARE LIKE NO OTHERS, I MUST GROW MORE OF THEM, I NEED MORE OF THEM, I NEED MORE OF YOU!-

You feel cold, and sleepy, so tired, so easy to just rest. Your skin feels damp and clammy, you try opening your eyes but cannot see through the darkness, no, not darkness, soil. You are underground. You return to your own body only to realise that all around you is wet soil, that were it not for a long hollow vine stuffed down your throat you would not be able to breathe, and with every beat your heart pushes more of your blood into the tiny roots that have dug into your flesh and are draining blood from your body, slowly but surely.

-Stop this!- you thunder at the forest mind –Release me!-

Through the roots within your body, and from your connection to the forest mind you can sense...a vast world. New plants are growing within the jungle. They are spreading out rapidly from where you were, growing like a stain, or corruption within the forest, but spurred on by the forest mind itself. You can feel vines growing teeth to attack nearby animals and plants and drain them, trees growing tentacles to attack other nearby trees and grab animals. Where the new plants reach the river running through the canyon they don’t drain it, instead the water level rises. Within the area of the new jungle the shadows come alive and start moving.
>>
The fruits and plants of the forest can become sweet and nourishing or toxic at a moments notice, under the control of the forests mind. You can dimly sense your companions somewhere within the jungle, but the new jungle doesn’t attack them, instead you see it protecting them from the animals of the jungle...and from the hunting parties of beastmen that are searching from them. The plants hide them and harass the beastmen – you see beastmen wrapped in vines that drain their blood or lashed at by bone-tipped tendrils from nearby trees.

As the beastmen hack at the plans around them, the severed limbs and parts of the plants simply grow into new plants once the beastmen have passed, seemingly impossible to truly kill. As they try concoctions and poisons to battle this new plant life, the plants do wither, and some die, only for the survivors to adapt quickly to new forms of attack. The harder they try to kill the plants, the harder they fight back. The plants begin to develop impossible methods of defence: claws wreathed in green flame, auras of fear that terrify those that get too close.

You see your new plants defend your allies, protecting them from the beastmen and stranger things that hunt them. All the while the forest draws forth more from you, giddily wanting more, and stranger plants. An unseen *somebody* directs the beastmen in their hunt for your allies, Jane Vindel perhaps? You cannot perceive her properly, though you think you can sense her approximate location, many kilometres away.

You pull yourself out of the connection with the forest mind, realising your body has grown weak, how long have you been here? Can you break free and dig your way out? Can you teleport away?
>>
Still, the forest has grown a lot of new, strange plants, too many perhaps. Before you returned to your body again you thought perhaps the plants grown from your blood where about to overwhelm the jungle, make it into something like you, make it into yours.

Yes, and? It stuck us in a hole for forced feeding. Any vamp that tried this shit would get killed or controlled.

Point but it's a child it doesn't know any better, like when we first met Lirael.
>She hasn't run already when things started going weird with the forest, I don't think she'll be running now.
Big difference between Forest is weird and Your enemy just turned the very ground you stand on into an extension of herself.
>>
>>38395144
She is definitly going to run when we subsume the entire forest.
She is currently not running because just some weird shit is happening, if we make her hiding place into a extension of ourself, she will run.
Stopping now gives her the wrong impression we were stopped by something.

Looks like Teleport out won narrowly.

Please roll 1d20+23 for teleporting.

And please vote on extra HP used

Average of 5 votes will be used.

[Shee Vitae 0, PE 0, HP 50/147]

Shee has been using her powers to keep herself alive, hence the lack of PE

>Not yet it just has our plants under it's control
I actually got the impression the new plants protected our family because they are made "from" us, so they incorporate Family Aspect as much as all our other abilities.
So at least "our" plants, won't attack them.

>Void Jump

>For others, spatial dimensions are something they must spend great effort to defy. For you, it is merely an act of will.

>When you wish to make a Void Jump, make a Nihil Dominus check against DC 35. If you pass, you may relocate a number of kilometres equal to how many points you beat the check by. This is not a teleportation effect and cannot be blocked by teleportation wards, instead requiring anti-magic and/or extremely strong wards against Void and incursions from the entities therein in order to stop, as this power involves stepping across the Void to reach your destination rather than true Teleportation. This power costs nothing and may be activated at will, however, you may not bring more than 20kg beyond your personal equipment or any living beings along with you when making a Void Jump.

For anyone who hasn't read it, basically a teleport that costs nothing and is way harder to block.

In exchange it also is a lot more limited, since distance is a lot smaller, we can only carry 20kg and no living beings with us.
So its not like teleport at all.

That makes absolutely no sense, FoL has nothing to do with how much it drains, and it drained HP anyway, we just used PE and vitae to keep ourselves alive.

>Hoping it's less a jackass and more that big dumb kid who doesn't know it's own strength.
Even when she went totally feral, Lirael still only scavenged the dead. She could have torn Dust Town apart, but she didn't.

It using Shee as fertilizant counts as being an asshole. Well, much worse than an asshole, Quinn was an asshole, the forest is absorbing Shee.
>>
>>38395440
More likely it just doesn't realise our corporal body is important to us, since we have a "presence" like it does, it most likely assumed we don't really need that body.
So, form its perspective we just did a really cool thing toegether using that flesh thing as medium for our interaction.
>>
>>38395466

What are you, human?
>>
>>38395466

>>
>>38395458
The fae's mindset is alien and they're still assholes. Baalzi's mindset is alien and he's still an asshole. This forest doesn't get a pass because it's like a giant retard who hugs puppies to death.

>The fae's mindset is alien and they're still assholes. Baalzi's mindset is alien and he's still an asshole.
The faes mindset isn't actually that alien, and we know the fae perfectly well understand how people don't like being treated that way, the forest doesn't know that, and can't know that.

And I disagree on baalzamon being a asshole, he hasn't done anything to us sfoar, he has actually been pretty cooperative with us.

>>38395505
>It doesn't care.
You now that how?
>>
>>38395515
Except needing our flesh medium to interact with ther world doesn't make us weak, since clearly the creator needs to do the same thing.
The fact we could warp it into things in our image, somethting the creator can't, we already proved we are better anyway.

Also, we just debunked the creator thing, so it doesn't even matter anymore.
>>
>>38395524
By the way it buried Shee and is eating her to make new plants and how it stated it needs more of her.
>>
>>38395505

You know this how?

>>38395499
>The fae's mindset is alien and they're still assholes.
They know people don't like being treated a certain way they don't care. They're for the most part Slaaneshis
Baalzi's mindset is alien and he's still an asshole.
He's true to his nature, Anyone expecting him not too be is an idiot. We are careful around him for a reason.
This forest doesn't get a pass because it's like a giant retard who hugs puppies to death.
It's a matter of intent, Retard who does it on accident is sad, tragic and may be taught better. A retard who does it on purpose is an assshole.
>>
>>38395554
That doesn't show at all it doesn't care, in fact that it did what it could to keep the body alive proves it does care, it just doesn't get how we work.
>>
>>38395564
If that is so, then why is Shee's vitae and PE depleted and her HP is so low? The vine conencted to her is eating her, not feeding her.
>>
>>38395564
It didn't do shit to keep Shee alive beyond air, and that was literally a hollow tube jammed down her throat. The only thing that kept Shee alive was her own powers.
>>
>>38395601
>that were it not for a long hollow vine stuffed down your throat you would not be able to breathe
We are depleted because it uses Shees blood to spread her Corruption through the forest, since that that is how nutrients get spread through plants.
It simply doesn't get that Shee could "die" from that.
>>
>>38395630
No, it's fully aware of the concept of death. It just does not care.
>>
>>38395626
>he didn't do anything to keep Shee alive
>except for that thing he did to keep her alive.
>>
>>38395630
It's a fucking forest, it knows how both plants and animals die.
>>38395640
Doesn't change the fact it's still eating her.
>>
>>38395654
>It's a fucking forest, it knows how both plants and animals die.
Except Shee is clearly not like any of these things, from its perspective Shee is a lot more like itself than any plant or animal around it.
>>
>>38395640
>It totally cared about us!
>It provided the singular most basic need after putting us in a place that denied it naturally and neglected all other resources and care.
>It cares about her so much!
>>
I gotta say, anons making assumptions is my favorite part of this quest.

The truth is we have no clue what's happening. The tube might be feeding us or eating us. The forest might listen to us or ignore us. Becoming the forest might work or it might not. It's all a moot point, now, since you lot chose to pussy out with teleporting instead of corrupting the forest like the badass mofo we are.
>>
>>38395637
It might not understand that that body is all we are. After all, it has thousands of bodies, and we're greater than it is.
>>
You have no intention of staying trapped underground being slowly drained of your blood. You focus on your psychic abilities and despite feeling like there is a heavy weight pressing down upon you, you manage to teleport. It’s hard though, as if something is actively trying to stop you.

[HP 35/147]

You appear in the midst of some trees that are twisted and curled like some sort of puzzle, why did you end up here?

The answer becomes clear when two people in battle armour come rushing around the side of the three and point makeshift spears at you. Their armour looks familiar (if ragged), as does their identical build.

“Rainya...?” you gasp out, your voice a raspy whisper.

“Shee?” says one “Is that, is that you?”

You try to nod but all you succeed at doing is falling to your knees.

“By the Mother!” exclaims one of the Rainyas “Shee, you’re alive, I can’t believe it you’re alive!”

They both rush forward to grab you and things go dim.
---
The next thing you recall you are in some tiny underground room or den of some kind, having a sweet-tasting thick broth spooned into you, as a Rainya sits beside you on the bed you are lying on, all wrapped up in blankets. A dim artificial light illuminates the place.

“You’re awake” says Rainya “here, eat” she spoons more of the broth into you. The two of you are alone.

“What happened?” you whisper

“It’s a long story” says Rainya, still feeding you

“Not going anywhere...” you mumble

Rainya sighs “When you disappeared we tried to find you, but then the beastmen came back in force and we had to run. We’ve been trying to stay ahead of them ever since.”

You notice her face looks thinner than usual, almost gaunt.

“How long?” you ask

“A month I think” she says “It’s hard to keep track in here, the ammunition ran out after a few days, and the food after a week.”

“I’m sorry” you say “I was trying to-”
>>
>>38395669
I'm not even sure what argument you are trying to make, if it didn't care, why would it bother with the air?
That makes absolutely no sense, if it just wanted to absorb Shee, it wouldn't have bothered with that.
>>
“It’s ok” says Rainya gently “It’s not your fault, I know you would have come back if you could, it’s not your fault.”

“Is everyone ok?” you ask

“We’re fine” says Rainya “tired, some scars, in desperate need of a bath and a long rest, but everyone is fine.”

“Ah good” you say weakly, wondering what you would have done if anyone had died in your absence.

“You stayed” you say “thank you”

“I wasn’t going to abandon you” says Rainya firmly, adding “Dev and Kaelyn wanted to head back to the Hive to get *help*, though I don’t know exactly who would be able to help, but they couldn’t even get out of the forest.”

You give a slow nod “too many beastmen?” you ask.

Rainya shakes her head “the forest” she says, “every plant, every animal is trying to kill us, in the old forest at least.”

“Then how...?” you ask

“Did we survive?” says Rainya “It’s strange, a lot of strange plants started appearing wherever we spent the night, and the old forest wasn’t hostile at first, that only started after two weeks, buy that time we knew the new plants, the new forest was helping us: fruit whenever we needed it, wide leaves to hide us, long vines filled with water. By the time the old forest turned on us, the new was big enough to protect us, and it attacked any beastmen that got close.”

You feel yourself drifting off “Lirael...” you mumble

“She managed to contact the new forest yesterday” says Rainya “from what she says its young and excitable, but sees us as important to it somehow, I believe she’s called it Randolph.”

You drift away into darkness again.
---
You wake up, still feeling hungry and tired, but no longer mostly dead.

[HP 85/147, PE 20/48, 0 Vitae]

You find your way out of your underground hideaway into the light. All around you is lush jungle, but it is all plantlife, no animals in sight.
>>
The plants are strange, twisted into strange shapes and some have tentacles, or thick armour, or fanged maws, others bear coronas of green flame. Even in the bright sunlight dim shadows twist and writhe, some reaching towards you.

As you look around you can see you are in an encampment of some kind. Sat on a rock a little ways away is Lirael, she is cross-legged and is wrapped up in vines, her eyes are closed but she doesn’t seem to be hurt. Most of her is obscured by the wrapping vine limbs, her face is only just visible.

You see the Rainyas about the place, one cooking over a fire, a pair skinning a large animal. The others watching through the trees, their backs to you, looking for invaders?

You see Dev sat by another fire, it looks like he’s cooking...laser gun power packs? That’s risky, it might charge them or they might explode.

Kaelyn is nowhere in sight. None of them seem to have noticed you’re up yet. It looks like it’s midday, maybe?

You wander over to Lirael “heya sis” you say “How’re you doing?”

Its several minutes before Lirael replies, her eyelids fluttering open “Shee!” she says happily “we’re sooo glad you’re ok, we thought you’d never wake up!”

“Uh, we...?” you ask.

Again, Liraels reply is a few minutes coming, until she speaks she just beams up at you, still wrapped in vines “Randolph and I” says Lirael “We’ve been talking a lot – yes I’ll tell her Randolph be patient – the lady with the spider-legs convinced the forest you were evil and that it had to destroy us but by the time it attacked Randolph was just starting to wake up and – I’m getting to that part, geeze! – he protected us, he’s fighting for survival against the forest and keeping us alive, yes alright! Randolph says he’s sorry the forest tried to kill you to make him and he didn’t know what was happening and he’s separate from it and please forgive him mummy?”

Wait, mummy?

“What have you been telling *Randolph* Lirael?” you ask.

Again that weird pause “We found out that the new plants were made from you Shee” says Lirael “especially when they started growing bloodfruits, so when I started sensing Randolph I told him about that and explained mummies and daddies to him and so now he knows your his mummy and the old forest is nasty and bad” here Lirael falters “but its still his daddy I guess” and then she brightens up “and I’m his auntie.”

“That’s great Lirael” you say faintly, slightly bemused at her reasoning, adding “so you haven’t been hungry at all or...?”

“Oh no” says Lirael. One of the vines wrapped around her uncoils and you see a large ripe bloodfruit handing from it.

“Randolph wants to know if you’re hungry” says Lirael.
>>
>>38396052
She has powers from all four elements gods
She is the AVATAR
>>
You take the bloodfruit and bite into it carefully. It’s as sweet and tasty as those you made in your own realm, with a strange but not unpleasant aftertaste, something about the soil it grew in perhaps? Or that it was made from your own blood?

“It’s nice” you say “very sweet.” Lirael smiles up at you, again that strange pause, seems *Randolph* is faster at talking and thinking than the forest itself, but not quite human-fast.

You head over to one of the Rainyas on watch “Where’s Kaelyn?” you ask. Rainya turns to you “Shee you really should be resting” she says “you look awful.”

“Thanks” you say with a half-smile

Rainya seems a little flustered “I mean, you look great considering what you went through, but you look sick, you should be lying down.”

“I’ll live” you say “for now, can you get everyone together, including Kaelyn, I need to talk to uh, Randolph, I guess.”

“Oh I couldn’t do that” protests Rainya “Kae doesn’t like to be interrupted on her hunting trips, but don’t worry, she should be back in an hour.”

You open your mouth to tell her to fetch Kaelyn, but then you recall, you’ve been gone for a month, perhaps Kaelyn stepped up to take charge...either way a problem for later.

You head back to Lirael and sit down next to her “Lirael can you introduce me to Randolph?” you ask.

“Sure” says Lirael after a few minutes, and then you feel her mind reach out to yours and-

“Mother!” says an unfamiliar voice in your mind, clearly happy to be speaking to you. It feels at little like the forest you spoke to earlier, but only in that it’s a non-human mind, the individual *feel* of it is very different.

“Ah Randolph?” you ask “I’m Shee, Shee Hyul, how are you?”

“I’m great!” says Randolph “Auntie Lirael has been telling me all about you and I’m so happy to meet you and Lirael said you’d make it all better and tell me what I should be doing and-”

You cut the enthusiastic greeting short “All better?” you ask “what’s wrong?”

“It’s Father!” you get a sense of a whining tone “the *Creator* he keeps talking about keeps telling him I need to die, or become part of him, I don’t want to do either, so he’s always at me, pushing at the edges, trying to destroy me!”

“How’s that going?” you ask, more than a little concerned.
>>
>>38396473
TFW killing her nets us favor with The Reaper.
>>
“Ugh! He’s so slow, and stupid! He takes forever to adapt to anything new, like, weeks, I’d have beaten him already!” boasts Randolph “but he’s so big and strong, I think he might be able to wear me down, maybe, but now you’re here, we can beat him together!”

You decide not to respond to that and ask instead “Do you know where Kaelyn is?”

“Oh sure” says Randolph and you see a picture of Kaelyn wearing stained travelling clothes...impaling the torn off head of a beastman onto a wooden spear and planting it in the ground, whistling to herself.

At her back in the familiar, if unusual plants that make up Randolph, and ahead of her is the plants, and animals that make up the old forest, a border of sorts you suppose.

All around her are dead beastmen, many with heads and limbs twisted at odd angles, some with burns or chunks torn off them. As you watch vines and tree-tentacles wrap around the bodies, pulling them down into the soil. You suppress a shudder at that reminder of your fate.

As you watch Kaelyn heads back deeper into the forest that is Randolph.

“She should be with you soon” notes Randolph.

You prepare to end the connection and start your little conference when Randolph asks “Shee, are you really my mother?” It’s hard to tell, but he sounds a little...scared maybe.

How do you respond?

“Yes” you say “I am” you briefly wonder about telling him about how he was made from your blood and the body of the old forest confuses the mother/father labels a little, but why confuse him, he’s only a month old.

“Thank you” he says simply “mother...”

You close off the connection and are left with a lingering feeling of longing, and loneliness.

You and Lirael both rise and head over to where the Rainyas are cooking, seems that lunch is ready. You notice that both vines and their shadows reach after you and Lirael plaintively.

“Dev?” says Rainya “Dev leave the power packs alone, you’ve cooked them too many times already.”

Grumbling, Dev pokes the power packs out of the fire and heads over “Shee?” he says with a look of surprise “You’re up, wow, good for you, are you feeling ok?”

You shake your head and laugh “You didn’t notice?” you ask “I’ve been sat with Lirael for a couple of hours”.

Dev shrugs and blushes “caught up in my work I guess” he says. He is saved from further embarrassment by the arrival of Kaelyn.

“Shee darling” she says, hugging you “so glad you’re back, how’re you feeling?”

You know you will get tired of that question soon.

“I’m fine” you say “bit hungry, bit tired, but fine.”

“Excellent” says Kaelyn “lets eat, and then plan.” Well someone is in a take charge mood...

As you sit down and eat, Kaelyn tells the Rainyas, Dev and Lirael what’s she has been doing, where the beastmen tried to invade, and what weapons they were using.

As she talks you feel the liquid power of the Ichor in the Depths roiling within you.

Win-win.

Randolph's a cutie.

You control the raging torrent of power within you, and can shape it into 1 of 3 forms

Controlled Shift – you gain 40XP to spend upon Gifts of the Ichor only

Mother of the Forest
You can animate and control plants. This selection grants you the first 3 ranks in this gift
At Mother of the Forest 3 you can create walking plants called Forest Guardians from nearby plants, up to 6 metres tall, with strength and constitution of 40 each, and damage reduction of 10, the Forest Guardians stats are otherwise determined by the QM, this requires plants at least 3 metres in height. You can summon up to 2 Forest Guardians as a single action. This costs 10 Psychic energy per guardian summoned.

Nurture the Lost Soul
The Ichor in the Depths has built upon the Segmented Soul power to create her own innovation.
This power links the targets soul to yours. If they are killed then their soul is transported to your Realm, but they are unable to leave it, since they are dead. You can bring them back to life at a cost of 50 psychic energy, this takes 1 hour. Once bought back to life they can leave your realm normally.
This power cannot be used on a Segmented Soul, nor does it allow you to sacrifice a linked soul for your own survival.
Abilities and powers that trap or destroy a targets soul can prevent targets of this power from being bought back.
Using this power to link to a soul initially, takes a full day, and 100 psychic energy. Only targets listed as those you care for under Strength of the Mother or Family Aspect can be targeted, but targets need not be willing, though they must be present the whole day. This power *can* be dispelled and ended, but the DC is 100 higher than normal, and you will be immediately aware if this power ends.

I suspect the DC is based on how much we please Ichor, so we just need t get Rainya pregnant when we get home and BAM NtLS for free.

Does Ichor approve of bringing life to the world in general? She may have preference for oceans but she has a spot for primordial jungles too?

Turning a dust world into a world full of life?

Not sure if we can afford to spend the four days it would take to link everyone.

Especially since I don't think its implausible our master sorceress can trap or destroy souls.
>>
>>38397097
I'm guessing that Nurture doesn't have higher ranks?
>>
>>38397384
Good point, no it does not.
>>
I'm kinda sad NtLS is a thing, I dislike it when death becomes less frightening, especially in this case.
Since fear of losing her family was a strong factor for Shee, that is kind of lost now.
Not gone, obviously, but definitly far less frightening.

>Nurture the Lost Soul

>>38397434
She's going to become a god. Having some power over death doesn't really bother me.
>>
>>38397434
mind you death hurts, we dont like them hurt, and there is still shit out there that can really KILL them...
this just make small fries less dangerous, the real baddies can fuck it up
>>
>>38397464
Yeah, and we have our Aspects to cover that.
Which were already capable of brining back the dead, in theory.
Which was really enough.

You sit down and eat with your friends as Kaelyn talks about the beastman attacks. After a breakdown of how many have attacked and from which directions she finishes by saying “really, I think they’re slackening off, falling back to probing attacks rather than serious attempts, you remember what happened last time?”

Lirael scowls, Dev and the Rainyas nod grimly as Kaelyn adds “so we need constant perimeter watch, Lirael I’m relying on you to spot the beast before it ever gets close, ok? I want you and Randolph in 24 hour contact ok?”

Lirael nods, adding “Randolph chased off the War Follower before, and he can do it again”.

“I know he can” says Kaelyn gently “but he got badly hurt last time, and this time she might have protected him against Randolphs attacks, so as soon as it gets close, I say will kill it. We don’t want it getting to close to the Heart after all.”

Your allies all nod in agreement.

Your response?

>Sure
>Kaelyn, thank you for taking over in my absence, but I’m back now and I’m in charge (this pleases the King of Hell)
>The Heart?
>Suggest alternate plan (what?)

>The War Follower is too big to just kill, its too costly to even try, especially since I mgiht have use for him again like last time. I want to see if I can't deal with him like with the plants here.

We might want to buy higher levels of Fecundity and see if we can Corrupt the War Follower.
>>
>>38397482
>The Heart?
After explanations are provided
>Kaelyn, thank you for taking over in my absence, but I’m back now and I’m in charge (this pleases the King of Hell)

>>38397534
Might be a good idea, it'd buff Randolph too I'm sure.
>>
>>38397534
You can stop adding random powers you like into plans and acting like they're an actual part of it any minute now.

>>
>>38397568
Anon. Fecundity allowed us to use Corruption to transform the local plant life.
Higher levels of Fecundity allow us to create animals like we create plants.

Do I need to draw you a picture so you understand why it makes corrupting animal life a very real posibility?
>>
>>38397568
Not that guy, but I can see where he's coming from. Fecundity does say that higher levels do animal creation stuff, but I'm not really sure why he thinks it'd make it easier to corrupt the War Follower.
>>
>>38397482
>Kaelyn, thank you for taking over in my absence, but I’m back now and I’m in charge (this pleases the King of Hell)

Holy shit, the King of Hell option is actually winning.

I love you all hellbros.
>>
>>38397591
>Fecundity does say that higher levels do animal creation stuff, but I'm not really sure why he thinks it'd make it easier to corrupt the War Follower.
You mentioned the reason yourself.

Maybe we can already do it without, but its hardly a stretch to think something that allows us to make animal life, would give us greater ability to influence animals.
>>
>>38397482
>The Heart?
>>
>>38397596
Well This is something Shee(who is a bit of a control freak) would say. The fact we hit king 10 with it helps too.
>>
>>38397596
I was about to ask why we're not letting Kaelyn grow into this role but if it means that much to you I'll find something to complain about later anon.
>>
>>38397482
>The Heart?
>I think we can turn the War Follower to our advantage, its a beast, but it has a mind, and can be influenced.
>>
>>38397482
>The Heart?
Remember guys, being arrogant like that hurts people's feelings and creates resentment.
>>
>>38397659
Shee isn't much of a control freak in regards to her family, at least not in that sense.

She has however a history of having to put Kaelyn into her place and being rather annoyed with her.
>>
>>38397670
When we actually have more than one squad of people working for us, Kae would be first pick to lead them.

>>38397688
That too.
>>
>>38397482
>Kaelyn, thank you for taking over in my absence, but I’m back now and I’m in charge (this pleases the King of Hell)
>The Heart?

>>38397688

Yes, but Kaelyn stepped in when needed, like a good XO. No one else really is able to do that.

Now we are just letting her know Captain Shee is back.
>>
>>38397717
>No one else really is able to do that.
I'm not sure about that, but it is true that her effort is appreciated.
And we can tell her that too and thank her for the input, but Shee is in charge.
And there should be no doubt about that, after a month Kae might have gotten a bit too accustomed to the role.
>>
Please roll 1d20+9

Of course it wouldn't be persuasion.
Not sure how this is leadership, unless there is actually a chance others want to rather follow Kae
>>
I wonder why people think that Shee is going to go maximum asshole with this. She's good enough at people to be able to say this in a way that sounds confident and take-charge leader-y instead of just obsessive assholey, r-r-right?

Nah, its not implausible we could fail a DC of 25.

Yes, we need to tentacle rape Kae to assert our dominance over the pack again.
>>

From that post r-right? ... Pally?

Pally I'd be willing to burn exp to let that 20 count.

>>38397869
If we are willing to burn XP, we could just buy two Ranks of Charisma.
That would be enough already.
>>
>>38397819
It's not implausible for us to fail DCs of 20 or lower, even with the +13 mod. It's happened before.

>>
Well that was close...
>>
Since we hit King 10 we need to buff will.
>>
>>38397955
Agreed. And since we hit 10, it should only cost 4 this time.
>>
>>38397952
I would have actually liked to see a King random mutation.

I think we can consider Willpower 10 auto-purchased, anyone disagreeing?
>>
I'm hoping for Form of the King of Hell for dem stronger psychic powers. How about y'all?
>>
>>38398040
Form of the King of Hell doesn't give stronger psychic powers as far as we know.
It gives mutations and fire-breath.
>>
>>38398081
>Form of the King of Hell
>You gain a demonic appearance and grow wings, allowing you to fly. At higher levels your form becomes more and more demonic, you would also gain claws, the ability to breathe fire and stronger magical (psychic) abilities, and finally the ability to travel to Hell.
>>
>>38398090
Well, fuck me then.
My bad. Forgot about that part.
Although it will most likely only improve Telepathy powers.
>>
We have gotten screwed by the dice multiple times recently.
>>
>>38398124
Thats why we roll dice, yes.
It would be terrible if we would never get screwed by them.
>>
Maybe 19 was enough to not have a giant screaming match with Kae right now?
>>
>>38398150
No way, it was at least DC20.
Kae was already pretty eager to pick a fight with Shee about Shees supposed "controlling", and that was when she wasn't actually controlling at all.
>>
>>38398150
Unlikely. Giant screaming match is a rather crude way of arguing, it will probably be massive passive-aggressive stuff.

>>38398173
Shee has always been controlling, in a way.
>>
>>38398201
>Shee has always been controlling, in a way.
Not towards Kae when she made those accusations.
>>
>>38398150
I figure we just entered the Gauntlet of Fellowship rolls again.
So at worst we have to buy those ranks in Charisma and try again if Kae refuses to be reasonable.
