> [[ Underground: Vos's Lair // Neutral Territory // PVP Enabled ]]

“How many more of these things are down here?” You shout, the three of you rushing to make your way back through the cave to the ropes. There's skittering around you, and from the darkness, a jet of searing liquid splashes onto your ankle. You shout, stumbling backwards, then swing your sword as a shape jets forward.

> Ascheritte defeated sliverwing. [[ Party: Aelriss, Tatsumaki ]]
> [[ Level 6: You have 1 unspent EXP. ]]

“I don't know!” Aelriss shouts, ducking under another one of the shadowy figures. Eunoia's flapping around in a bit of a panic. Tatsumaki's already way behind you, struggling back onto the ropes you set.

The three of you make your way back up to the cave opening, a group of the giant sliverwings waiting far below you, watching your ascent.

“There's a boss down there.” You say, catching your breath.

“Probably more than one. I read about them while the message boards were still up.” Aelriss says. “They've apparently got a hive queen, but I hadn't heard anything about that... frog. What do we want to do now?”

>Back to Averron. Let's organize the trip to the Sanctum, and break for now.

As for when we level I'm thinking one of the following:
- Two-handed Mastery
- Retaliate
- Evasion

2h mastery for the good old being able to 2h weps with ease, also titans strength sounds fun

Retaliate for a pp using ability that would fit our style quite well

Evasion in case what we expect to be a boss fight has it using AoE attacks
>>
>>38430273
Nah, we established that we need:
- Us
- Nel
- Tastumaki
- Ayla
- Aelriss

We want:
- Aelriss' friend Donnel
- Ayla's guildy Dorian

And that Smith is probably too risky a guy to bring on the offchance he backstabs us all for celestial gems due to their allure, or hell - just backstabs us for loot in general.
>>
>>38430321
We want Smith to make two parties, that was why he was suggested last time, also u believe you are forgetting some one.

“We should head back up.” You say, and the three of you begin towards the opening of the cave. “I'd like to get the trip to the Sanctum organized. Plan that out, and maybe take a break.”

“That sounds fine with me.” Aelriss says. “Thought about who else you want to come?”

“Well, there's Nel and Donnel...” You nod.

“Uh,” She looks at you. “I thought we were already going to invite them.”

“Right.” You respond.

“That's a full party, then?” She asks.

“Well, I was thinking we could maybe bring more than one party. We don't know how tough it's going to be in there, right?” You fold your arms. “Like, a raid.”

“Huh, interesting.” Aelriss says. “What makes you say that?”

“I'd like Ayla to be able to get down there to use the tech, but she's busy with her guild. Which is why I wanted to suggest a group expedition. We'd bring a second party of people from the Alliance guilds.” You respond.

“Sounds like a good idea. You're sure you're not just trying to get on Ayla's good side?” She pauses, then sticks her tongue out.

“Yeah, whatever.” You roll your eyes, waving her off. The three of you maneuver back up the bridges, and Averron City quickly comes into view.

Regarding this OP can you tell us exactly how exp gets shared around?

When something is defeated is there a fixed amount of exp that gets shared around all available people?
Or does it give a fixed amount to each person, no matter how many are present?

How does it work with parties? Do the parties first get a share of the exp and then each member gets a share of that?
>>
>>38430594
Nel and vision are friend, you do know he is joining the party right?

There's been some subtle nuances, I'd recommend reading it if you had the time.

Brief summary (because I'm too busy to give a full one right now) is that we're playing a virtual MMORPG that runs at an accelerated rate.

It features a special currency called celestial gems that are required for really fancy stuff.

If you die the first time you lose your 'ID' - special item that allows you to access your inventory. You then become a 'nameless' and the game is much more difficult for you. Of note is the fact you're unable to use celestial gems.

Nameless - ID'ers relations are tense because of this, there was a recent uprising incited by the dickbag PvP guild.
>>
>>38430811
Also with that many people we wouldn't get much loot to ourself

BTW how do you guys feel about learning
* Concussive Strike // Active // Spend PP to make an attack that deals increased damage and can knock targets back a significant distance. Required for: "Overpower", "Charge", "Whirlwind Attack".
We should learn Charge too soon after, to compliment
* Power Charge [[ Granted by: pegasus gilded cuirass ]]: Charging attacks will resist interruption and behave as if you are heavier.
We don't have a skill that spends PP so it's just sitting there. And should be a nice addition to our damage letting us kill shit faster. And moving around enemies to position ourselves better, by knocking them away from allies or just away from us.

“That's no way to run a business.” You fold your arms, looking down a bit. Without the hat, she's about a full head shorter than you. “Nice hat, though.”

“...Thank you.” Her voice is oddly sultry, if a bit deadpan. “I apologize. I am an Artificer. Do you require my services?”

“Can you do anything with this bug heart?” You ask, producing the item from your UI.

“Mm. This is a Fire focus.” She giggles. “Pulsing, burning within. Give?”

“Just for a second.” You say, handing it over.

“Yes.” The witch responds. “If you'd like, I can augment your weapon with fire.”

“Is that all?” You ask. “What does it do?”

“Your attacks will deal additional damage, especially so to those who fear the flames.” She nods. “Each focus is aligned to a specific element, though more powerful foci might bring their own unique abilities. Once it is done, however, it cannot be removed without destroying your weapon.”

“That's fine with me.” You respond, checking your inventory. “Oh, hell, this is going to cost money, right?”

“Mmm...” She shakes her head, thinking briefly before extending her hands to accept your blade. “No, first one is free.”

You watch; the witch runs her hand from the steel blade's base to the point, the still-beating heart in her hand dissolving into red dust that flows into the metal, heating it white-hot, giggling dementedly from deep in her throat for the duration of the entire process. A few heads turn in the market square as red light creeps across the ground between the stands, then stops at once as she brandishes the weapon and hands it to you, hilt-first.

“I hope this is satisfactory.” She responds.

Y/N is a shit way to vote for levelups. Give us several options to vote on, it's not like anyone would vote no just to save a point. they vote no because they want something else. I'm totally fine with concussive strike by the way
>>
>>38434277
OP only does the Y/N when it looks like chat has come to a conclusion about it.

It works quite well normally and saves time with the subvotes the usual way has but this time it wasn't actually a majority, the others just didn't bother arguing against it beforehand.

Does that make sense? I'm tad sleepy

there was some support for Concussive blow and so he went with that.

> [[ Guild Leader: Liza ]]
> [[ Guild Officers: Kainzo, Mendicant, Florica ]]
> [[ “ Glory Is Forever ” ]]

You contemplate knocking.

You remember this place; lovely, somewhere between barracks and castle, with a red roof and numerous flags emblazoned with the crimson insignia. The district is quiet, so you elect to wait outside, watching the hall from a nearby alley It's at least a few minutes before anything happens: then, you see the doors open, and a crowd of people emerges. You recognize Andor, from the Disposable Heroes, mid-debate with a hooded woman who walks at his side. Behind, there's the Writ Keepers' officers; you see Ayla, Dorian, and another man, a pair of legionnaires from the Crimson Guardians bringing up the rear to escort them out.

What will you do?

“Ayla?” You ask, approaching the crowd. You look around, but don't see Liza; she must still be inside.

“Ah, Ascheritte?” Ayla says, looking surprised. Dorian raises an eyebrow at you; it's been a while since you've seen him. “I didn't expect to see you here... I was actually just about to return your message.”

“Hm, this is the one you've been taking about, Ayla?” Dorian asks.

“Yes,” She responds. “Why do you ask?”

“I remember him from earlier.” Dorian responds. “You caught him off guard, but he seemed... slow, regardless.”

“I was a bit out of my element.” You glare at the robed man. “Ayla, can we talk in private?”

“What's this, then?” He sneers.

Ayla sighs. “Ascheritte, don't pay him any attention. Anything you can tell me is good with him. What's up?”

You said you were going to assemble a party and sally forth to the Sanctum without, nel, myself Tatsumaki or the other. Please reconsider. After all I hold the key and unless another Pegasus appears it will be lacking. Additionally I saw the seer about the portrait in the ruins. It was off Kojrikos' lost love, and whoever holds it would greatly draw his attention. Indeed going without us would mean you would lack many useful tools to fight his madness.

I like the notion of RPing to get better results but I don't like the wording of that at all.

For starters, if they're not prepared to go with us then it's their loss. We're not here to beg them to take us.

So, that's a vote for the intent but a vote against that wording.
>>
“I wanted to talk about the expedition.” You respond. “Did you get the chance to bring it up?”

“Barely, though my audience was a bit petulant at the time.” She responds. “The Guardians are supposedly prepared whenever we'd like to begin, though they insist upon leading our team.”

“Despite this, Ayla and I will obviously be attending.” Dorian adds. “Tell me, Ascheritte, when did you plan on orchestrating this expedition?”

“Tonight.” You respond. “Well, in a few hours, I mean. We're waiting on a couple of people, and my members and I want a break beforehand.”

“Tonight? Are you daft?” Dorian asks. “We've barely had the time to—“

“That sounds fine.” Ayla interrupts. “Ascheritte, I'd like to apologize for...”

“It's fine. I just wanted you to reconsider organizing your own party to make your way to the Sanctum, after what we'd been through.” You shake your head, and Dorian winces at you. “I visited the fortune-teller about what we found in Velika's tomb, and earned some information that seems indispensable to the cause, about Kjorikos and his work.”

“I didn't have intent to abandon you, Ascheritte. As the leader of a guild, I've my own set of responsibilities.” A group of individuals passing in the direction of the Writ Keepers' hall hail her, and she waves in kind. “To them, and others—and as one of the leaders of the Averron Alliance, I maintain a measure of responsibility for all those who pass through this city.”

“Ayla, this is awfully undignif—“

“Dorian.” The Alliance leader hisses, taking a step towards him that causes him to shrink back on one foot, eyes widened. “How long do you expect to remain my officer at this rate?”

“I—I'm sorry.” He waves his hands dismissingly, tone growing nervous.

There's a pause, and Ayla turns to face you. “Ascheritte, would you mind sharing a word with me in our guild hall?”

“I understand.” Dorian nods, then begins down the street, glancing over his shoulder periodically.

“This way.” Ayla motions toward you, leading you towards one of the nearby guild buildings. The architecture echoes faintly of a town hall or library, rather than a military building, and there's a strange change in atmosphere as she leads you through the front door.

> [[ Guild Hall: Writ Keepers // Writ Keepers' Territory // PVP Disabled ]]

The interior is well-furnished, with the main room looking something like a large study. There's what looks like a small alchemy lab set up on a table in an alcove on one end of the room, with a shelf housing numerous exotic-looking potted plants and glassware. A large table and chairs in the center of the room, where a number of Ayla's guild members appear to be mid-discussion; many of the other walls are lined with bookshelves.

“Ayla!” A lively-looking man laughs, turning from the table, with a walking stick balanced across his lap. “The lot of us are on the brink of discovery, we are! Care to join us?”

“Sincerest apologies, Cardus.” Ayla responds. “I'd be glad to later, but as of now, I've a guest. Please welcome Ascheritte, however; he's a personal friend.”

“Heyo!” A lithe woman with dark skin and swept-back blonde hair waves, before returning to carefully-inspecting her blades. “Name's Sulya. I'm loving the armor, there!”

“Huh?” You look down at your chest, only now remembering the weight around your shoulders. “Ah, thank you. It took some work to get.”

“I'll bet it was well worth it.” Sulya responds. “Alright, then: sorry to keep you.”

“It's no big deal.” You say, and she smiles as you wave her off. “Take care.”

Ayla's workshop is downstairs—and it's more organized than Smith's. There's assorted bits of technology scattered about, but larger than you're used to seeing: conical drill bits standing about half your height, and large consoles that look vaguely reminiscent of the message board server, albeit incomplete. On a table in the middle, you see a scattered variety of tools, fractalline crystals, and explosives assemblies.

“Alright, sorry about the mess.” Her tone changes, voice a bit less airy. “And about Dorian. Now, what did you really want to talk about?”

“The Sanctum, and Kjorikos, like I said.” You smile. “But also, about Freakshow and their leader.”

“Anaximander.” Ayla says. “You know him?”

“I'm surprised anyone does.” You respond. “He seems like an elusive one. My party and I had a brief skirmish with him in the city, before the riots were over.”

“What? I don't believe it.” She folds her arms. “What happened?”

“He's powerful. Armed to the teeth with weapons and spells, and a katana that causes some sort of stunning effect on contact.” You respond. “In addition, he's wielding a Celestial Artifact that allows him to teleport at will.”

“Liza informed us. It's troubling. Do you know how far he can reach?” She asks.

“Far.” You respond. “I'm not sure what the limit is, or if he even has one. My party and I have been concerned, as he appears to be using it to orchestrate ambush groups.”

“We discussed the possibility.” Ayla responds. “The Guardians are fixated on driving Freakshow out of Averron, but we've elected not to move until we've reached a consensus. I'm trying to push for neutrality, but given I've been a part of more than one of their attacks now, I'm inclined to join the cause.”

“I don't think I'm in a position to arbitrate.” You nod.

“Right, then. What about Kjorikos?” She asks. “This, I want to hear.”

“He was the first Artificer, or some such. Condemned for supposedly heretical practices—something about pioneering 'aerheric' stuff?” A chill runs down your spine as you remember the fortune-teller's words.

“Aetheric...” Ayla says. “That's a word I want to hear right now. Go on.”

> [[ Continued ]]

“Regardless, Velika was the woman he loved...” You continue.

“But she died, and we and a bunch of other raiders ransacked her tomb.” Ayla says.

“Which he built his Sanctum over. Got it in one.” You say. “I think I might be cursed. The fortune-teller said that if we don't do something about Kjorikos soon, something bad is going to happen.”

“Think that's true?” Ayla asks.

“I don't know. I'm not sure what to think.” You respond.

“This game has a way of making you feel crazy.” Ayla says. “As far as the expedition, I'll begin making arrangements as soon as possible. I'd like to break for a bit as well. What time is it where you are?”

“Uh, shit.” You pause, mulling over time—you now notice that this game has no internal clock. You wanted to attend that club meeting tonight, just to see if there are any other BSO players in the vicinity. “I think I started playing again at like, 3:30 in the afternoon. I had something I wanted to do tonight, but I can pass it up as long as I get food and rest somewhere in there.”

“Assuming I haven't lost track of time completely, it sounds like you're an hour ahead of me?” She responds. “How does 8 or 9 your-time sound? It'll give us plenty of space to get whatever we need done in-game and out.”

“I'm alright with that.”

“You'll be leading your group of five, I assume?” Ayla asks.

“Nel is our leader.” You think about it for a second. “But, yeah, I'm in charge.”

“Have you met Liza or any of the Guardians yet?” She asks. “It would probably be prudent of you to stop by her hall and introduce yourself at some point—this means you're going to be a raid leader alongside whoever she selects to join the team.”

“We've agreed not to disclose most of the major goings-on. Until she gave her verdict, I wasn't even aware that the leader of Freakshow was involved.”

“Right. So, what did you think I wanted to talk about?”

“And the new Averron Alliance would take full control of Averron City.”

“Aren't the Writ Keepers a roleplaying guild? And the Disposable Heroes are super-casual, I thought.” You ask. “How is that going to work?”

“It's not, which is why I'm against it—though it might be the best thing to do on behalf of the rest of the players, given my role in the hierarchy.” Ayla frowns. “My guild would likely lose almost all of its membership. Likewise, the metaphorical fat would be trimmed from Disposable Heroes. The ideologies of the individual guilds would have to be done away with to benefit the group.”

“What about the Guardians?”

She pauses, continuing with a sigh. “The merger would leave us a council, of the players that are either the strongest or the most fit to lead.”

The conversation stalls.

“It's just talk,” Ayla says. “So don't go telling all of your friends, alright? I mean it.”

You nod.
>>
So CG is going to try and make a power play to rule the city. Guys we should tell Ayla now!
>>
>>38438405
it won't happen. anons have like liza too much for no actual reason
>>
>>38438426
Which I don't get, She an elitist snob who only does the bare minimum to keep her "good guy" image with the city. She'll fuck over anyone to get what she wants.
>>
I honestly don't see the point of attempting this power play. I guess it cements them as a single guild leading it since Ayla and DH wossname would be in it, thus putting all the founders together.

But with the loss of most of the WK and DH players? The total strength would barely change.

I guess the upstart rival guilds would be more fragmented though, so it's not like they'd really have much competition...

Hrm...

>>38438426
>tell her about Liza
This would be a good time to do so to be honest, if only to ensure the guilds don't merge. Having them split is in everyone's best interests since they'll each operate far more efficiently under their own playstyle, thus making the alliances overall strength greater.
>>
>>38438528
See thing is All CG will back Liza and without their supporters Ayla and Dh lead get marginalized. City becomes Liza's property meaning she can do whatever she wants with it.
>>
>>38438511
it's too late anon. we were outvoted by the liza defense force
>>
>>38438568
Yeah I get that. But so far from what we've seen they've tended to agree about the direction the city goes. I'd have thought maintaining strength to better subjugate nameless and freakshow would be a higher priority than middle age royalty powerbid style stuff.
>>
>>38438629
I'm kind of pissed that now it might not even matter which guild we choose. Plus it's just gonna cause a bunch of conflict within the guild because everyone will still want to do different things
>>
>>38438629
>Implying Liza won't do both
She's already displayed a stunning lack of caring when it came to giving a crap. As for their agreement, Liza had to play up the good image so Dh and WK weren't against her.

>>38438681
They basically just taking and indoctrinating the best players of the other guilds. I'd imagine any who speak out against it "disappear."
>>
>>38438681
I guess that's what we get for bitching nonstop about which guild to join for ten threads and to be fair it's kinda deserved by this point.

As for the internal organisation, it might be a case of Ayla and DHGuy just leading people whilst following council decisions. So like, as if they were still leading their own guilds only the take their orders from what the council decides
>>
>>38438788
You forget they'll both lose most of their followers because this would be a CG style guild. If anything they'd get marginalized until Liza's rule is ironclad, then poof.
>>
>>38438817
>CG style guild
[citation needed]
>>
>>38438858
>“Aren't the Writ Keepers a roleplaying guild? And the Disposable Heroes are super-casual, I thought.” You ask. “How is that going to work?”

That doesn't tell anything about how the merged guild would actually work, is the thing.
>>
>>38438908
>Ayla frowns. “My guild would likely lose almost all of its membership.

Meaning Liza has more followers than her. Many more.

>Likewise, the metaphorical fat would be trimmed from Disposable Heroes.

Again massive loss DH is a shadow of it's standing.

If it not WK style or DH style it has to CG style, especially if they are "trimming the fat" I.E. Giving anyone not up to a certain high standard the boot.

Cg has the most elites by far, meaning they'd have majority, not even counting the other guilds elites who wouldn't join due to disgust.

They do this Liza is in charge.
>>
>>38438955
You're missing the point. We're not arguing that they wouldn't have less members from their original guild left.

We're arguing that we don't know how the internal hierarchy would be.

Are Ayla's old members under her direct control or are all members now treated the same and mixed and matched into different squads under whoever, etc
>>
>>38439000
Would it matter? If Liza has plurality and majority(she will), she could set this up however she wants. She'd push for mixed teams and her guys would agree. DH and WK wouldn't be able to resist. Then she'd turn who she could and off who she couldn't. The initial set up doesn't matter cause the mid and endgame are so fucking telegraphed it's painful.
>>
>>38439000
>The merger would leave us a council, of the players that are either the strongest or the most fit to lead
This would be mostly CG members and maybe the original leaders of the other guilds
>>
>>38439048
What? Yes it would matter. There'd be far less issues if they didn't try to mix the players up. She might not want to push for mixed teams, rather focussing on retaining her elite core and using the rest as efficiently as they can play to do other stuff.

She's not necessarily attempting to lay rightful claim to a throne and then drive everyone off.

>>38439054
Right, and suppose it's a council of six? Leader and second in command from each guild. Then you have CG outnumbered by non-CG.
>>
>>38439105
>There'd be far less issues if they didn't try to mix the players up.
Yes but do you really think someone as distrusting or elitist as Liza will let anyone have a powerbase in HER guild?

>She might not want to push for mixed teams, rather focussing on retaining her elite core and using the rest as efficiently as they can play to do other stuff.
She's an elitist she'd make sure everyone was up to her standrads( both gaming and loyalty, after all she had them in blatantly bad positioning and they didn't bat an eye til after the fact. Even now only the other guilds are really giving her shit for it not her own.)

>She's not necessarily attempting to lay rightful claim to a throne and then drive everyone off.
Heh, sure. She's a control freak that is exactly what's she doing. After all she has to be in control to Beat Aniximander and the nameless. The other would get in her way.

>Right, and suppose it's a council of six? Leader and second in command from each guild. Then you have CG outnumbered by non-CG.

There'd be so few DH and Wk there that she wouldn't let it happen. It wouldn't be "fair" to her people to have so little voice. After all this is one guild and since her makes up the majority by far player wise, she should be guild leader.

This is more or less a blatant powerplay so she can "protect" the city from itself for it's "own good"
>>
>>38439201
Yeah, whatever. I'm tired of rampant speculation but I don't agree with what you've said.
>>
>>38439235
If she wanted them to "do their own thing" She wouldn't be pushing for one guild, as it would be far easier to o their own things as they are. She wouldn't be asking to "trim the fat" so her people outnumber all the others. She's a known control freak with a grudge against freakshow's leader. The grudge was so abd she fucked over city defense and put other guilds in jeopardy so her people wouldn't "get in the way." Additionally her actions left her guild at 100% strength while the other bigger guilds took losses and smaller guilds got wiped out. How is any of this illogical to you?
>>
Guess we're done for tonight then Sylvetica?
>>
>>38439401
I guess I should have said it more explicitly; I might have been enjoying the discussion.

But yes, archived.
>>
>>38439451
So are anons being overly paranoid? Also next run when?
>>
>>38439286
>She wouldn't be pushing for one guild
We have no idea if she is or not, is the thing. The only thing the post said about who was doing the pushing is
> “Some of the guild officers are currently weighing the possibility of a complete merger between the Alliance guilds.”

You can speculate all you want, but you don't really have much evidence there. Hell, for all we know, Liza could be just as against it.
>>
>>38439451
Oh, I was totally expecting you to post a last part to that update.

>>38439474
>spoiler
Always and forever. Paranoia is the one true constant, even if it isn't warranted.
>>
>>38439479
"But that doesn't make sense in my head canon! REEEEEEEEE!"
>>
You know, I'm starting to wonder if we were never meant to consider joining CG. Like, we were meant to recoil from their initial description and try to outdo them.

And now that we still have a significant number of people wanting to join them we're slowly being exposed to more things that paint them in a bad light in an effort to steer us away.
>>
>>38439479
True she might not be pushing it. She could be against it. It'd still play out this way if it happens, just at a slower pace. Girl has already admitted to having control and trust issues, and with the merger WK and Dh would be shadows at best.

>>38439489
Just think handing the keys to the kingdom to Liza is a bad idea.

>>38439510
meaning?
>>
>>38439590
Probably was meant for us to make our own guild or join WK. Usually elitist guilds are bad. SAO and KOB
>>
Just a reminder that Tatsumaki wants to join CG. We must follow best girl and join too.
>>
>>38439617
When did she say that?
>>
>>38439644
When we visited the guild halls with her and Aelriss. Ael said she wasn't interested.
>>
>>38439653
Was this before or after she saw what Liza did to the city? Cause thing might have changed.
>>
>>38439668
After, this was last thread I believe.
>>
>>38439700
So it was, although from her reaction that was only if she had to join one.
>>
>>38438264
damn, Anaximander is right, Liza's destroying everything.
>>
>>38441990
Did you see the follow up discussion?
>>
>>38442093
bad connection and then 4chan went down, but yeah.

I'm siding with this anon >>38439591. Anaximander accused Liza of all the worst that she could be, and her current actions aren't proving that she's better than that.
>>
>>38442168
Glad to have you on board anon. You agree we should tell Ayla what happened next session then?
