You are Reinhold Eschenwald, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

One of many issues that you're forced to deal with at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

At long last, you've been reunited with your friends! And along with all of the tears of happiness from being reunited with your loved ones, there was also one big surprise...

Emilio actually KISSED Karel!

>GUARD RANK UP!
>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a magnificent WYVERN!
>Among lesser dragons, Wyverns are ranked third in intelligence, right behind Leviathans.
>Though they can't be domesticated outright, it is still possible to tame them if they're raised from an egg.
>The Princess considers you to be one of her dearest friends!
>But while Wyverns inspire awe in the humans who watch them take flight, they still don't count as people.

Marianne is actually proud of you... has she ever said that to you before? Regardless of whether she has or not, it's still a really nice sentiment that fills your heart with warm fuzzy happy feelings.

"...do you have to smile like that?" Marianne asks.
"Huh?" you raise and eyebrow.
"Now, now..." Luciana uses her floppy sleeves to pat her friend on he shoulder. "Why don't you let him enjoy this moment? Reinhold fought long and hard to actually win a compliment from you, Marianne."

Marianne rolls her eyes.

"Pardon me if I'm stingy with my compliments," Marianne mumbles while crossing her arms over her chest.
"Haha, you're so cute when you get like that!" Luciana giggles. "And now you can act as cutely as you want without Emilio bothering you!"
"Ugh, whatever," Marianne groans. "What's with those stupid sleeves, anyways? Is that Reinhold's jacket that you're wearing?"

That's right... Luciana's still wearing your jacket on account of the top of her dress being torn to hell.

What I ended up actually writing out during the conversation that happens when meeting Nicolette on the first day of the quest differs from what I had in the story maps enough that I'm going to have to add another branch in the second day in order to make up for said changes.

I tried to account for all splits in dialogue while making those story maps, but not even my OCD is able to read into the future of my writing.

Yeah.... you're not sure how to even go about explaining this without breaching some rather unpleasant subjects so you decide to keep quiet for now.

"Ah, this..." Luciana holds up her arms and lets the long sleeves of the jacket slide down until her hands are exposed. "There was an accident with my dress while I was captured, and Reinhold was kind enough to lend me his jacket so that I wouldn't be exposed."
"......an -accident-?" Marianne's eyes narrow.
"Don't tell me that-" Andreas gasps.
"No no no!" Luciana throws her arms into the air. "It was nothing like you're thinking, I swear!"

"...you're sure?" Andreas asks. "Reinhold?" he turns to you for confirmation.
"She's telling the truth," you reply with a long sigh. "I thought the same thing when I first saw her like that, but..."
"But -nothing- happened," Luciana groans. "And he's DEAD now so there's nothing to worry about!" Luciana laughs nervously. "Besides, even though my dress is torn now I get to wear this nice comfy jacket!"

She does seem to be enjoying wearing that thing a lot more than you'd expected... it's WAY too big for her, the sleeves trail off far beyond where her hands are and the neck's showing off her cleavage even though she has it fasted just about all the way.

But then you realize that her enjoyment probably comes from the fact that it's -your- jacket that she's wearing.

"Now could we -please- change the subject?" Luciana asks. "While it wasn't as horrible as you were thinking, my experience while kidnapped is still not something that I have any desire to revisit."

Oh, I fully aware of that. The way that I'm doing things right now is in theory intended to keep me from fucking up with continuity errors or any of that so that I can write everything as quickly as possible.

That's also why I'm consolidating a lot of the quest choices into each other when it comes to the game version. If I branch out too much, I'll never get finished.
>>
>>38482399
My suggestion is have a Good End and Bad End for each route, and maybe add a route where Rein just lives his life as a guard or runs off to be adventurer.
>>
>>38482430
Well given the issue with Sylvie, I think there should be good or bad results in the endgame for friends we don't main route on.
>>
>>38482471

The 'issue' with Sylvie is that at that point in time, nobody in the thread legitimately seemed to understand how people react to you blowing them the fuck off.

For the record you don't tell someone you're not interested in a relationship right now, and then literally a day later start a relationship with someone else.
>>
>>38482430
I don't think arch would go that direction but I could dig some less severe but still melancholy bad ends.
Stuff like Mari just not being able to open up to Rein or Rana moving to fast and scaring him off.

"What was going on here in the castle while we were out?" you ask.
"Yes," Inaba nods. "Want to know."
"......" Marianne breathes a long sigh. "I was actually in here most of the time trying to console Karel..." she turns to Nicolette. "But you were actually out there, weren't you?"
"Yeah," Nicolette replies.
"Eh?" Luciana turns to her cousin. "You were out searching for me too?"
"No," she shakes her head, "Right after that fucker ran off with you, the Salamanders that he sent here to attack got replaced with... I dunno what the hell to even call them," she grumbles. "Basically, they were giant wood things that were filled to the brim with mercenaries and those assholes flooded the forest that surrounds the castle..."

>>
>>38482430
The current plan is to have good/normal/bad ends for all the girls, a single route ending, and then several Bad Ends dispersed throughout the story to make things interesting.

I'm also toying with the Guard Rank being key to not having horrible things happen to Reinhold, though that's not concrete yet.

You feel bad for leaving the others to deal with that, but Luciana was in danger and getting her back was your immediate priority.

"Thierri and my old man went out to fight after that..." Nicolette says. "It took a little while for them to figure out that it was the carrier things themselves that was how those assholes back in Ancellotta were sending more and more of their guys in, but once they broke those things all that was left was to take care of the remaining mercenaries," she explains.
"The same way that they kidnapped Sir Vincent in the first place..." Luciana nods to herself.
"Thierri and my old man were out there for a while, but eventually they swapped places with Raoul and Arnaud. And then Andreas came back with Anatole..."
"He joined the fray the second that he got his arm fixed," Andreas says, "but by then Elena learned that I was here so I couldn't exactly leave her."
"Not leave," Inaba says while hugging the silver-haired bodyguard.
"That's right," Elena says while doing the same.

>>38482650
>I'm also toying with the Guard Rank being key to not having horrible things happen to Reinhold, though that's not concrete yet.
Makes me think of a route where Reinhold doesn't hit any of Marianne's flags and remains Worm rank for the entire quest. Marianne keeps trying to make him miserable so he'll quit his and she can get a less insufferable guard, and can't understand why everyone else seems to be fine with him.
>>
>>38482650
From a design standpoint you've got two options

"Are they still out there?" you ask. "I didn't see anyone while Luciana was flying me back to the castle..."
"You should've been there to see us," Luciana says, grinning at Marianne. "When we landed here, Reinhold was in my arms..."
"You got carried by Luciana?" Cariana asks. "She's strong enough to do that?"
"Niklaus cast a spell that made me weigh a lot less so that she could," you reply."
"And I'm going to have to find some way to repay him for that!" Luciana says with a beaming smile.
"It was awkward as hell to watch," Nicolette groans. "I really don't understand how the two of you can stand acting like that without dying of embarrassment."
"What's wrong, Nicolette?" Luciana giggles. "Don't tell me that you and Melanie don't-"
"Okay, that's enough of that," Marianne cuts her off.

Treated Sylvie poorly during the Marconetti arc.

>>38483244
Yeah, that part of life is a learning experience but that doesn't stop his actiong from being hurtful even if they weren't intended.
The argument that the "treat Sylvie like shit" options should not be in the VN because "Rein isn't that much of a jerk" makes absolutely no sense seeing as those options are literally the ones he took during this route, which will determine his personality in the VN.

Would he do that sort of shit again? Probably not, he's learned from it, but during that part of the VN, we aren't playing as end-game Rein, we're playing as mid-game Rein, who still has a lot of development to go through.

>>

I sort of like it when /tg/ makes terrible choices because I enjoy seeing the mental gymnastics people put themselves through in order to try and justify the dumb shit they've done.
Although, on that occasion, I think I was too livid to enjoy it because it caused us to miss Nicolette's party, which she'd specifically thrown for us, even after we said we'd be there. Sometimes, Reinhold is a bad friend
>>

"To answer your question, Reinhold," Marianne says, "Arnaud and Gerhard picked off the last of the stragglers about an hour ago. Thanks in part to Nicolette, none of them were able to come anywhere near the castle, and they weren't able to reach the city either?"
"Thank God," you say, breathing a sigh of relief. "So it's more-or-less safe to go outside now?"
"Yeah," Nicolette replies. "No enemy troops are on the ground and we have people watching the skies now to make sure that no more Salamanders show up."
"Great."
"Rana's back at my house with my Mom and my little brothers... to be perfectly honest, they weren't in any danger with those two on guard. And Sylvie flew Angelique to the castle after I sent a messenger bird to her place telling them what was going on."

So everyone's safe and sound... you're really happy to hear that.

Does anyone here want a Steam copy of Revolver 360 Re:Actor?
I have a code for it but nobody on Irc seems to want to take it
>>
>>38483454
It was Marianne's fault for not being a mindreader and anticipating that Rein was going to make a dumbfuck decision before he'd even made it.
And then wasn't that choice followed by being catty towards Mari and sort of blaming her in quest? Looking back at it, there are quite a few times that Rein's been a pissy little bitch.

I think the whole Elena/Agnes incident showed that their are a lot of fa/tg/uys who don't understand that different characters have different motivations. Luci was happy to spend time with Rein because she wanted his dick and didn't give a fuck about visiting his grandma, players saw that and thought "That's good enough for everybody" even though Elena blatantly wanted to see Agnes and didn't care about spending time with Rein.
It's like driving a kid up to the Disneyland parking lot and going "Wait here while I go on the rides", then getting pissed off at them for not appreciating how much gas it cost to drive them there.
>>
>>38483556

>>
>>38483556

>>
>>38483568
I think like most things in Marconetti it was a result of the player base being both really large and really divided.
Instead of one or the other side winning we get a weird middle ground choice that just makes things worse.
>>
>>38483575
>>38483611
I thought about doing that, but I wanted to give the code to someone actually interested in playing the game instead of just being greedy and hoarding codes for themselves.

"I guess that only leaves one more thing," you say.
"And what might that be?" Marianne asks.
"I believe he's curious as to where your father is," Luciana says.
"Yeah," you nod.

It's nice that Luciana pretty much "gets" what you're thinking a lot of the time.

"Thierri?" Nicolette speaks up. "My old man was gonna go and talk to him... I'm pretty sure they're drafting a letter to Marconetti about how Luciana's safe and sound and that Andreas and Monique are here and all that. The situation's really fucked up right now, after all..."
"I'll say," Luciana nods.

Certain... agreements that you made a few hours ago have you wondering about the future. And also about the past...

"Hey Citrine?" you ask, turning to her. "What was your wedding like? I mean, I'll always regret missing it, but..."
"Oh, that?" Citrine laughs. "It really wasn't anything special..."
"My ass it wasn't," Marius scoffs. "It might not have been anything fancy, but it was definitely special."
"You know exactly what I meant," Citrine replies, playfully sticking her tongue out at her husband. "Why the sudden interest, Reinhold? Getting antsy?"

That's exactly it, but you can't really say that out loud.

"Now Citrine," Agnes rests her hand on top of yours, "I don't really think it's fair to tease Reinhold too much after everything he's went through today."

"Ours wasn't really anything to brag about," Citrine says. "We didn't really have any money to spare after leaving Cateno, but we did manage to scrounge up enough to pay for a small ceremony at a chapel. Marius is right though... it was definitely -special-."

You -really- wish you could've been there.

"We get asked now and then why we don't have a bigger 'redo' ceremony now that we're, you know, rich as hell," Marius laughs, "but Citrine always tells them that there's no sense in dwelling on what happened in the past. We're married now, and that's what matters."
"Exactly," Citrine nods.

You spend the next twenty minutes or so talking with Citrine about her early married life and all the hardships that they had to go through back before Marius hit it big... but while it definitely seemed like a hard life, there wasn't a hint of regret in either Citrine or Marius's voices as they tell you about everything that happened back then.

Just as Agnes is about to join in the conversation with a story about her own wedding, the door swings open and in comes the King.

Seeing as how the King is finally here and all, you figure that you should probably get up and head back over to Marianne and Luciana and the others. Important business requires you to be on your feet and all that.

"Nice to see you back, old buddy!" Thierri laughs as he shares a manly hug with Sir Vincent. "You didn't get too banged up while out of time, I hope?"
"Of course not," Sir Vincent laughs. "Reinhold here came to fetch me before I did anything that I'd regret."

And of course he says this just as you approach.

"Ah, there he is1" Thierri pulls you in for a (slightly painful) hug of your own. "The hero of the day!"
"I'm not really..." you mumble, really embarrassed about being put on the spot like this.
"There's no need to be shy," he shakes his head. "You led a search party to successfully rescue Luciana here, might have ended up saving the lives of three Knights along the way, and you even brought Vincent back to his loving family!"
"Thank you so much for that, Reinhold..." Sylvie says while holding her father's hand.

"This one's all yours," Thierri shrugs.
"Thanks," Sir Vincent groans. "Anyways, uh..." he takes a deep breath. "I was born from Perricone, and Thierri and Raoul were the first two people who I ever met. Before that, it was all birds and stupid friggin' bears..."

At the mention of his hated enemy, Sir Vincent grits his teeth.

"Yeah, we already knew that," Sylvie shrugs. "You're from Perricone, and-"
"No," he shakes his head. "I was born FROM Perricone. From the land itself."
"......huh?"

All three of Sir Vincent's seem absolutely lost, as well as your friends who weren't around to witness his rampage in Ancellotta a few hours ago.

"I'm what you call an, uh..." he starts to scratch his head.
"Ugh," Angelique groans. "Vincent is an Elemental Spirit. Thierri and Raoul were the first humans who he ever met, and he's been best friends with them ever since."
"........."

Pretty much everyone in the room stares at him in absolute disbelief.

"Y- you're kidding, right?" Sylvie gasps. "There's no way that-"
"No, it's true," Sir Vincent replies. "Your old man ain't really human..."
"We'd hoped to hold off on telling you until all three of you were adults, but today's events kind of ruined all of that..."

"So you-" Valerie points at her father. "You're really-"
".........Father..." Marianne grabs Thierri's wrist. "Is that the reason why you and Uncle Raoul seemed so nonchalant about his getting kidnapped?"
"Pretty much," Thierri replies. "You've got quite the grip there, you know..."
"Wh... why didn't you tell us before this happened?" Sylvie asks. "IF I'd known that you-"
"C- c'mon now, don't think that I'm some kind of monster-"
"Of course I don't!" she shouts. "But if we'd known that you were an actual immortal invincible spirit that's literally MADE of magic then me and Valerie and Racquel wouldn't have had to be so worried about you coming back home safely!"
"That's right!" Valerie shouts. "What the heck was the point in keeping this a secret from everyone, it's not like we're not ALREADY descended from Sivarios!

Sir Vincent takes a few steps back.

"Well, uh..." he turns to Thierri, "...we figured that it's be best if as few people knew about me, the better. And if someone attacked, I could be like... a secret weapon or something, yanno? I mean, it even worked out this time with Leopold, there's no way that he would've wasted that slave collar on -me- if he knew what I actually was..."
"Th- that's true, but-" Valerie turns to Racquel. "C'mon, you say something too!"
"Eheh..."
"Why are you laughing!? Both Mommy AND Daddy have been keeping this whole thing a secret from us for our entire lives!"

>>
>>38484775

>>
>>38484748

"I was mad at first, yeah," Racquel says with a shrug, "but just think about it..." she grins. "You and me and Sylvie, all three of us are part of the bloodlines of TWO Elemental Spirits- Sivarios AND Daddy! So I bet if we got really good with magic, we're probably even more likely than Auntie Ariane to end up Ascending ourselves..."

This realization hits both girls like a slap to the face.

"And even if we don't, we're still sure to stay cute and pretty like Auntie Ariane for a super long time..." Racquel giggles. "I'm not even mad about them keeping this a secret from me anymore, I never thought that I'd have it THIS easy!"
"...huh," Thierri nods. "I guess that -is- a valid way to look at things."
"And now we know why Daddy's so dumb about common sense stuff sometimes, too," Racquel says. "He's not a human like us so he doesn't have -human- common sense. He has -Elemental Spirit- common sense, and I bet that's way different from usual. Like saying that bears are pure evil or that the best way to win an argument is to let Mommy hit him until her hands start to hurt, or..."
"I get it," Valerie sighs. "You can stop now. Please."

>>
>>38484820
Really it's just the one.
>>
>>38484821
Like animals can ascend to humans, humans can ascend to elemental spirits.
If you're starting out with a shit load of magic it's a shorter journey to ascension
>>
>>38484821
People can become elementals if they suffuse themselves with enough mana, and having an elemental father is a big boost.
>>
>>38484821
The short version is that if you get extremely good at magic and build up enough mana you can acsend and become an elemental spirit
>>
What's better, ascending into an elemental spirit or getting turned into a dragon? Or can you do both?

Sir Vincent seems absolutely bewildered by his daughter's leap in logic.

"...so you're not mad at me anymore?" he asks.
"I'm not," Racquel shakes her head.
"Well I still am," Valerie crosses her arms over her chest and stomps. "But at least you're still here for me to be mad at."
"Thanks..." he laughs. "What about you, Sylvie?"
"I don't know," Sylvie mumbles. "This is all just..." she shakes her head. "I just don't..."

Sylvie walks around her father and head for the door.

"...I get why you wouldn't think it was such a big deal, Daddy," Sylvie says, "but there's no way that Mom didn't."
"Sylvie..." Angelique calls out.
"I'm going home, I'm too tired to talk about this right now."

With those parting words, Sylvie leaves the room. Nicolette chases after her almost immediately.

"......Dammit..." Sir Vincent droops over.
"Don't worry, she'll come around eventually," Thierri pats him on the back.
"You're not pissed at me too, are you?" he looks around the room.

Fortunately for him, the consensus is surprise instead of anger.

Once the room's settled down some, Thierri announces to everyone that the mercenaries have been taken care of and that it's now safe for anyone who wishes to do so to leave since the danger of further attacks has passed. And with that, he thank you once more and heads back to write some more letters.

"I guess that's our cue to leave," Marius says as he helps Agnes from her seat. It's a shame that the day went bo so awfully, though..."
"Yes," Agnes sighs. "But at least it's not like we won't be able to come back."
"Heh, I guess not," he laughs.

"I guess I'll be seeing you guys then," you reply. "Take care on the way back."
"Thierri offered us an escort back the apartment, so I think we should be fine," she replies. "See you later."
"Byebye!" Carina continues to wave at you until they finally turn around a corner.

Shortly afterwards, Sir Vincent and his family leaves the room as well, leaving only Marianne, Luciana, and their associates.

Goodnight arch!
How do you find your motivation? I have an assignment due tomorrow which I've barely started due to sickness, hating the lecturer, hating the subject and hating my life.
Do you own any swords and/or other big dumb weapons.
How long until the people of the world accidentally into gunpowder, and the world becomes a fantasy western?
How many kidnap attempts did melanie have to stop before she became human rank?
VN WHEN?
Have you Read/watched JoJo's Bizarre adventure?
What kind of stand would the characters have?
Which characters would have interlewds possible before epilogue wedding nights? I'm guessing at nicollete, Melanie, Nico+Melon, Rana, and Monique.

Celestino is... an odd case. If he was to ascend, he'd probably still stay on as King until he felt that Alberto was ready to take his place.

>>38485206
>How do you find your motivation? I have an assignment due tomorrow which I've barely started due to sickness, hating the lecturer, hating the subject and hating my life.
You just need to push through the distractions and negativity and make yourself do it.

I have a knife, and that's about it.

>How long until the people of the world accidentally into gunpowder, and the world becomes a fantasy western?
I shall prevent this through authorial fiat.

Melanie was grandfathered in along with Marianne's other childhood friends.

When I am done working on it.

Yes. Part 4 best part, Kira Yoshikage best villain, Gyro Zepelli best protagonist, Joseph Best Jojo, Killer Queen best Stand design.

It is a mystery.

How close is that? We carried on with the magic lessons and I thought the consensus was to still do all the friend stuff we'd been doing with her and Nicolette. I assumed that was just being left out for pacing reasons, like how we don't see all of Reinhold's training with Arnaud etc.

Well "The world" already reacts poorly to certain kinds of magic experimentation, doesn't it?

I'd expect the same sort of interference with technology.
