The ground beyond the fresh wall of Oakring has become something from a carnival.
A madhouse, maybe.

Your hisses are lost beneath the roaring wall of noise, voices building to a deafening crescendo as they sound out their bearers woe.
Arrows fly all around you, whispering through the air till they hit- the dull sound of wood and metal and earth, or the telltale slap of flesh and a cry of pain.

Jin is above you somewhere, the young harpy crafting a meteor storm all her own, though a great deal more local and deadly.
And further overhead, more and more harpies take to the sky, calling out fury with hoots and screeches.
They haven't engaged themselves. Not yet.

Arrows and harpies shouldn't fly together.

Sheszka is a single blur of white on the field, never still or silent. A predator's grace and a wolf's fury.

And you stand alone.
Enemies all around.

Maybe summon some lava to halt their charge and make some back off when they see it.

though I SORT of want to retreat with shezka to the wall so we don't get shot by our own guys. I remember rome total war.

Don't just 'hit' them either. Don't hold back. They aren't here to play and our friends could be hurt if this goes to far.

>Keep an eye out for the Alpha.
If we spot the Alpha, abandon other targets. Taking him out will do more damage to their morale than any 10 others. If we break their will to fight, we could end this with minimal loss.
>>

>If we break their will to fight, we could end this with minimal loss.
I highly doubt killing the alpha will break their will to fight. Assuming the majority of them even notice it in the chaos of the fight, at night.
>>
>>38492429
We should probably try to get back to the wall with shezka or something, were in the middle of nothing but hostiles in a siege

I highly doubt we can afford to go wading through their ranks outright ignoring anything else in the first place when wovles are noted for teamwork.

>>

That could work for us too. At least they wouldn't be attacking anyone else, and trying to crowd and overwhelm the Lava Spider really wouldn't go well for them.

>You think Shezska would stop fighting if someone held up Lyras broken body over the crowd?
Fair point. But if it got to that, I think it would be moot anyway.
>>
>>38492905
>You think Shezska would stop fighting if someone held up Lyras broken body over the crowd?
That's different. Lyra's the kind of alpha that says hello and introduces herself before deciding to kill people.
>>
>>38492967
And give that kind of ammunition to Nin? We would never hear the end of it.
>>
>>38493039

Unless they release some flaming pigs.
>>
>>38492967
Because we aren't the queen! Dear god imagine how terrible it would be if we were! (Also lets face it, the city idea was definitely a bad idea, and should only exist as a city the same way Washington D.C. exists as a city, that is it is literally a place for political representatives and tourists who want to look at history (if we ever DID rebuild it I think it should be one of the few places in that area that is open access, especially seeing as if this were the case there wouldn't be much worth raiding it over, you wouldn't score a strategic victory, you wouldn't cause many casualties, and you'd pay for it in blood probably) also it helps deal with the primary concern of the city in the first place.
>>
>>38493208
>Unless they release some flaming pigs.
I don't think distracting Lyra with food will work.
>>
>>38493208
The thing is, if we start stampeding we can't break through the wall and can only flee into enemy lines or rout off the battlefield.

>>
You whip your head back and forth as you try to scan the field-
The alpha has vanished.

Whether he's hidden himself somewhere in the rush of wolves, or simply taken his pitch coloured hide and concealed himself in shadows, he's utterly out of sight.
You grimace, reorganizing your thoughts back to the problem at hand.

Wolves of all shapes and sizes flood through the clearing, moving in time with one another as the rush the walls, or Sheszka, or you.
Ah.

There's a circle of them around you now, crouching, snarling, snapping.
You idly note that they prefer their animal shape when fighting, apparently.
Maybe Sheszka would as well if she didn't have the gauntlets?

Then again, she is using the form now. Maybe it's simply the most effective against each other.

You snap your attention to your own aggressors, eyes flicking from wolf to wolf before you settle on the largest of them.
That one first.

You move, legs clicking threateningly, and they answer in kind, coming at you from all sides- a pair snap their jaws shut over your legs, pulling in opposite directions to try and keep you in place. Your arms shift as they mess your balance, and your chosen target flashes forwards, jaws slamming shut on your wrist, wrenching your hand and spear to the side-
>>
>>38493333
The pressure is enough that you feel your chitin flexing, pain shooting up your arm as the wolf flails its head side to side.
You hiss fury and pain, your free hand striking out, slipping away from jaws already trying to close on it.

Your fingers sink through fur and flesh, tearing the larger beast free from your arm and hurling it backwards- it twists midair to land, but its attempt is cut short by the wall you thrown it into- bones snap audibly as you turn your attention back to your next set of victims.

Wolves retreat yelping, flesh scorched from contact with your limbs.
There's a slick feeling from your hand, but you ignore it, swinging your spear two handed before you- less your mother's trained strikes, and more brawl, clearing wolves from around you as you send them airborne.

Lacking vertical stone walls to shatter against, the wolves you smash away regain their feet, closing in again- some limping, and looking worse for wear, but still in the fight.

Another launches itself straight over its fellows, spittle trailing through the air as it closes.
You intercept it with the bar of your spear, bodily blocking the creature and hurling it back to the ground.

It hits the dirt with a roll, spinning away from your spear-point, but there was no real intent behind the half-assed strike.
Your lips form syllables, spitting what little magic your sister pounded into your head into the night air.

And the earth answers in spades, the ground heaving beneath the wolves' feet less spikes than pillars erupting into the darkened sky.
A half second of silence, of immobility from your opponents- but the magic is still coiling through the ground.
The pillars shudder, slipping back, ever so slightly.

And explode again, the eruption literal this time, molten stone accompanying your conjuration and scattering the wolves. Flashes of burning fur hurtling towards the river as your victims retreat.

A barely there pressure alerts you to more danger- a wolf clambering onto your skull, lips peeling back as it snarls- and then it's gone, torn free by a comet of feathers and fire, dragged halfway into the sky before it can even react.

Jin tosses her catch free into another mass of wolves, and you turn your attention back to the fight.
>>
>>38494403

The wolves have reached the wall, and more than a few are throwing themselves up it's sides, digging in their claws where they can, and explosively jumping where they can't.

The adventurers are holding strong for now, shields and weapons lining the wall, smashing the pack down.
But you can smell blood on the night breeze. Wolf and human alike. Your own as well.

Your nose wrinkles at the scent, and you take a split second to scan the field again.
There!

You turn without hesitation, picking up speed as you go.
You are vaguely aware that you have abandoned hissing for the moment, and skipped straight to just screaming your throat raw.

There's a moment of panic, of wolves scattering out of your way.
And then there's another howl. The Alpha's howl, and they flow back together, rushing towards you, around you. Holding you back.
Slowing you down.

You don't slow down.

You are afire, a barrelling truck with only one destination in mind.
Wolves are trampled, smashed aside like animals as you roar.
"COWARD! WORM! VERMIN!"
You spit curse and insults alike as you force your way forwards, casting wolves away as they try to grab you, to bury you beneath bodies.
They keep themselves clear of the shimmering heat of your hands and the tips of your feet, attacking further up your legs, trying to aim for your soft flesh.

You feel chitin creaking as more beasts try to take hold of your limbs, and your hands ignite, sweeping away attackers in a shower of sparks and scream. You see Sheszka drag another wolf down, her jaws around it's throat.
Arrows everywhere, falling like rain around you, harpies peeling wolves from the wall and dropping them to the ground below.

Another flash of black fur. Left.
You turn, a spider's scuttling step, dropping one shoulder and lashing out with an elbow. An unlucky wolf loses teeth. And even more unlucky one buries its teeth in your upper arm, and you bite back, the taste of venom and blood flooding your mouth.
>>
>>38495578
You break through like that, blood flowing free from your arm, someone else dripping from your fangs. A pair of larger wolves, flanking their Alpha, all three watching you carefully.
Sheszka lands next to you a half second after, her fur stained red, her eyes near demonic in your firelight.

You hear yells from the wall, harpy cries overhead. Jin's piercing call, her brilliant light flashing through the dark.
You barely recognize your own voice, hissing and dripping rage.
"No more, coward."

We get a defensive bonus when protecting someone, I don't think charging through the lines for the alpha counts for that.
If we would fight close to the wall, we could claim to protect "the town" for massive bonus.
>>
>>38496054

No bro, we were a Ruby Widow Arachne, they WERE the "First into Battle; Last to Leave" people of the Arachne army.

Charging into the thick of it, protecting our comrades that are right by us and far behind us, is what we are SUPPOSED to do.
>>
>>38496042
Not really.
We aren't doing anything to keep the twon itself save, we have pretty much stopped paying attention to the wall to charge for the alpha.

We only might get bonus for Sheszka.
>>
>>38496054
But aren't we going after the Alpha to protect the town, anon?
>>
>>38496088
>>38496092
That doesn't change the fact that we don't get bonus if we aren't actually doing anything to defend the town, because town is currently at the mercy of all the other wolves.
>>
>>38496112

It's almost a universal concept that taking down the leader / command structure does more damage to an army than out-and-out slaughtering it's soldiers.

Doubly so for fucking Werewolves, which act on a pack-based structure.

Take down the Alpha, the army breaks like fine china, even more so if we impale his body and hoist it into the air like a flag.
>>

>>
>>38496112

>>
>>38496146
Its a strategically logical choice, but its still not a strategy that aims at keeping the town safe, because the town is still just as much at danger currently.

If we would throw ourselves between the bulk of the horde and the town to keep them away, then it would work.

I think its stretching the idea behind the blessing a bit too much.
>>
>>38496217
So its not just my internet being wonky again? Damn you 4chan!
>>
>>38496112
>aren't actually doing anything to defend the town

This is basic strategy anon, Offense is a legitimate defense.
>>
>>38496234
But anon, if we let the Alpha get away, he'd just come back at some other point with a larger force

We're protecting the town in the long run.
>>

>>
>>38496263
>We're protecting the town in the long run.
I don't think the blessing takes the long-run in account.

Its pretty clearly aimed at protecting people that are with you, not broad concepts of "protecting".
>>
>>38496234

Allow me to put this into perspective.

There is a Demon Lord that Aims to Reign for Ten Thousand Years marching with his Legion of Peerless Horror onto the Capital City.

Which do you really fucking think the Demi-God of Protection would care about more, Us being a pawn-piece in perhaps stalling the fucking LEGION in one spot for an indeterminable amount of time, or Us spearing through his forces and aiming to rip his skull from his shoulders in the name of protecting the Kingdom/The People?
>>
>>38496293
Maybe, but it's moot since we are directly protecting people in the here and now.
>>
>>38496299
>, Us being a pawn-piece in perhaps stalling the fucking LEGION in one spot for an indeterminable amount of time
This one, he is the god of protection, not the god of intelligent strategic choices anon.
>>
>>38496330
I think anon used the term "Legion" in the sense that it doesn't fucking matter if one spot stalls them, the rest of the tide will just go around.
>>
>>38496299
I'd guess on what kind of person/deity the Demi-God of Protection is.

Maybe we'll get the chance to ask at some point.
>>
>>38496330
>>38496299
>>38496293
How about instead of all of you making shit up for your argument, you just wait until after the thread and ask REQM who is literally the only one who could actually say if it counts or not?

Because currently all of you are just going
>MY OPINION IS BETTER THAN YOURS
>>
>>38496369

I was basing my words on the Fluff REQM gave us for Ruby Arachne, which mentions that were a SHOCK and AWE unit that specialized in getting into the thick of it before anyone else and staying there longer than anyone else against his "It only counts if we act defensively"
>>
>>38496348
I understood that, but again, the blessing would care about at what point the largest number of people are being directly protected.

Killing the demon lord might be better in the long run, but it isn't protecting the people who are in danger right that moment, because they still get slaughtered by the demon horde.
>>
>>38496409
hay idiots why not just directly ask the guy whos basically the god of this setting hes right here >>38496217 REQM has finale say over what bonuses apply so just go off what he says and stop arguing.
>>
>>38496395
And they definitly got bonuses for protecting the other fighters in the army, who where right behind them.
So they directly protected them with being in front of them.
There is nothing indicating they smashed into the enemy army and let the rest of the troops fend for themselves somewhere behind them.

Which is what we are currently doing.
>>
>>38496464
We are drawing a VERY large portion of attention, and the direct attention of the command elements.

I don't think the Demi-God of Protection would be so anal as to have problems with this as long as we were fighting to protect someone else other than ourselves.
>>
>>38496395
>which mentions that were a SHOCK and AWE unit that specialized in getting into the thick of it before anyone else
It doesn't actually say they were SHOCK and AWE.

Just that they were the first in the fight and last to leave, which could just as well, and I always assumed it did, mean they were the spearpoint or frontlines of the army.
Which usually still expected to stay there, and not rush into the enemy ranks on their own to scatter them.

More the front ranks of a Phalanx then a screaming horde.
>>
>>38496507
>We are drawing a VERY large portion of attention
The rest of the discussion aside, I really find that a dubious claim.
We fought maybe some slightly less than a dozen wolves, assuming it were new ones each time.
We have really no idea how much of the army that is, except that the significant part of it is still throwing themselves at the wall.
>>
>>38496541
"Spear points" of armies are designed to thrust deep into the enemy formation to cause chaos and stab at its heart. Its not a phalanx or a charge of madmen. Typically it was a cavalry charge consisting of many riders moving forward in an arrow formation. The only difference between that and what we are doing right now is that we are only one person. We don't have enough people for a proper wedge but being a spear point is all about stabbing through formations to get at cowardly leaders and break their lines.
>>
>>38496658
>We don't have enough people for a proper wedge but being a spear point is all about stabbing through formations to get at cowardly leaders and break their lines.
Nah, thats not the point.

The point of a spear point is actually to drive the wedge deep into the enemy army to break it up.
Aiming at the leadership isn't actually the point, because the leadership was usually not in the army at all.
There is no sense in a spear point that doeasn't have a wedge behind it. Unless its supposed to scatter the frontline.
Which is what a cavarly charge did, but you wouldn't call a cavalry charge a spearpoint, because the cavalry was supposed to retreat after the successfull charge.
>>
You dive in without a thought, Sheszka at your side, your spear gripped fiercely enough that you can feel the metal giving way.
The Alpha prowls straight at you, his companions splitting to circle you.
Or trying to.

Sheszka drives away the one on her side, spitting a gout of fire that ignites what pieces of grass remain.
And on your side, patience waning, you point your spear.

The wolf snarls to answer your supposed challenge- and is blasted back into the shadows by the bolt of lightning.

The Alpha charges, already starting to howl, his frame swelling up, matching yours- his shoulders low as he tries to barrel you over, straining to turn this into a mud fight.
His jaws snap low, catching an errant leg, your chitin grinding and creaking beneath his strength.

You answer in the easiest way possible.
Screaming fury and driving down with your fists, hammering blows into his skull with all the strength you can muster.
He tries to slide away from your assault, twisting his head, and your leg with it to escape.

Fury or not, injured or not- Your mother trained you.
With spears, with knives. With hands.

They aren't clean, but your attacks strike home, leaving the beast staggering, dazed as he tries to recoup his wits-
Sheszka shifts at the speed of though, a sweep of metal claws tearing bleeding furrows into his flank- and even as he turns, she's shifted again, four legs pulling her beyond his reach.

A scorched looking wolf- his companion- tries to chase her, but she spins, jaws snapping, warding away any attempt to close on her.

The alpha catches his feet, snarling as he takes a deep breath, chest swelling-

>Close on him! He wanted a mudfight, did he?!
>Match his strength. Hold his snout closed!
>Teach him why turning to a giant monster is not an advantage against a spear.
>Other (?)
>>
>>38496715
>The point of a spear point is actually to drive the wedge deep into the enemy army to break it up.
Technically it was usually done because a wedge formation is a more advantegous position than a straight frontline.
Breaking up 'could' be done, but usually wasn't the intention.

No. That is enough.
You pounce forwards, covering ground faster than the wolf can draw air, slamming into him and driving him back, driving the air from his lungs as you seize the moment.

The Alpha is, if nothing else, a survivor.
He fights back tooth and nail and claw, shifting form to try and brak your grip, scratching and punching at every unarmoured inch you have.
And you fight back just as hard, clawing away, dancing your feet to try and pin him to the ground as you grapple.
He manages to grab your injured arm, his hands crushing into the wound, and you blink away tears of pain before holding him in place just long enough to smash your skull into his, staggering him again.

He stumbles back, half falling, looking up at you as you throw yourself at him again.
You can see yourself in his eyes- Hair a mess, eyes burning, trickling blood falling from wherever your heads collided. Lips pulled free of your fangs, brow furious. Like the wrath of gods.

You grapple him again as he throws himself towards to, frantically trying to keep clear of your legs. He shifts again, jaws snapping millimetres from your face as your arms wrap around him, claws digging in. You pull tight, throwing your head over his shoulder to keep his jaws at bay.

His paws scrabble at your chest plate, tearing, scoring the metal- and then your legs flex under the sudden weight as he starts to grow again, trying to crush your or tear his way free.
You hiss again as your arms tremble- and you lock your hands behind him, ignoring the pain, ignoring the pressure.

He's large enough that all you have is his head in seconds, legs braced and trying to tear free as you crush his throat. You can barely keep your feet as he pulls you upwards.
You yank back with all your strength, willing the earth to meet your limbs, willing your hands to burn with everything they have.
Fur smolders, reeking, and you finally clench your arms, muscles screaming-

Most villagers are in their houses with their doors locked.
Now, the adventurers...

Well, any of them that didn't believe the stories do now.

>>38498555
It's magical bullshit, so it won't chain. Beyond that, it's limited use, and all using it early would have done would have gotten the wolves trying to bury you earlier to stop it.

Thanks for playing!

It's just stone. They could break it, magic it, make a ladder, fly.

Lyra isn't dead.

>>38498676
It did.
Wolves get transformation at tier 2- the larger wolves were tier 3.
You'd have likely been dead without it.
The blessing counted your actions as well as the wall, and was active all fight long.

>The blessing counted your actions as well as the wall, and was active all fight long.
The question was, did it make it stronger, or is the blessing only one strength and the only question is Active/Notactive?
I thought it got stronger the more we are protecting.
>>
>>38498757
It gets stronger the more people you are directly protecting.
In this case, the village.

Awww, but I wanted her to get massive gains... On the plus side, Nin is virtually guaranteed her level two evolution now. Hoping for minor lord luna moth.

>>
>>38498909
Nin wasn't in the fight either, because it was too dangerous for her. Too slow and too many arrows in the air.
>>
>>38498932

She stayed on the walls. Presumably while there she applied her dust (either in healing or sleep dusting wolves coming up the walls). I think she'll get what she needs from this and the aftermath playing medic.
>>
>>38498807
No problem!

>>38498820
Falling down constantly, trying to walk up walls....

It's more limited than that. Declaring yourself defender of freedom, or hiring on as a knight of the realm won't suddenly render you a god.

Ezzy is in bed, where people aiming for your unarmoured head and neck can't bite her.

>>38498913
Whatever they needed to be. A bit less effective on the offense, though.
>>
>>38498963
I don't think she would get 8 level from playing medic, but I'm sure staying on the wall she made use of her rapier a few times.
>>
>>38499000
So what tier was alpha wolf? I heard some people saying tier four but is that true?

Also Lyra earned a new title!
>Alpha and Omega
>>
>>38499012

Aria got that much for rolling out of bed and shouting a one liner. Nin's got about as much star power, and I'm pretty sure this is the best place for her to catch up to the others (going from a story perspective.

That's not to mention we're going to have a week out of her just trying to patch up everybody (wolf and man and ourselves) who just spent the evening trying to murder each other.

If not, it's definitely not the end of the world.
>>
>>38499000
I guess we earned the red twice over again today. I wonder what our fire breathing wolf earned today.

Heck, we might get some wolves who want to learn how to breathe fire too, It can't have escaped the older wolves that they get traits from their alpha.
>>
>>38499110
REQM mentioned he was tier 4 right here.
>>38498630
>>
I'm assuming we'll have to molt to heal our chitin, QM?
>>
>>38499165
Well we did just kill someone a tier up on us, so maybe if we grind some we can evolve and not have to worry about it anymore.
>>
>>38499165
Yes, He's said before that our spider parts heal by Molting.
>>
>>38499116
>Aria got that much for rolling out of bed and shouting a one liner.
She didn't get all those level in that time. The quotes are from within the time of getting those level, they aren't from each individual time she gets any.
>>
>>38499185

Keep in mind. Arachne cheat. We effectively have a +1 to our tier just by virtue of our race.
A tier four wolf should (in theory) be about our match.

As for evolution, I don't see it as a fix to anything.
No sooner will people have the new evo then they will want another.
Enemies will also have to get stronger and situations will become more perilous.
Escalation is kind of a killer.
>>
>>38499273
Even then, we fought numerous tier 2 and tier 3 wolves along the way, and REQM mentioned we only survived due to the blessing.

We really pushed our limits hard, while I doubt it was enough to level, I wouldn't be surprised if we went up 25-33 levels, possibly more. Of course, we won't know for certain until Sunday.
>>
>>38499379
I'd be surprised if it was that high.
Levelling is exponentially slower as you go up, after all.
>>
>>38499379
I assume ~15-20 at most.
Jin and Sheszka are definitly going to get around 30 level, or at least close to that.
>>
>>38499379

I'd put it as a maybe for even as much as ten, but we'll have to see. Thing is, again, I'm not in a huge rush to level and become strongest spider. I just don't think that title will have significance with how a story like this has to function.
>>
>>38499468
There is a pretty good chance we are already among the three strongest spiders in the forest, right now.
One evolution might actually be all it takes to make us literally the strongest spider.
>>
>>38499468
i dont think its so much being the strongest as much as it is evolutions are awesome
especially the visual changes
>>
>>38499537

Visual overhauls are great. It's just that there is a limit to the number of times we can actually do that in quest.
I'd like for something really special to mark what will likely be our last evo for a very long time, as after this legendary evolutions are all that's left.
Honestly, I'd prefer if levels just stopped existing after tier four, with no fixed meter to reach the next tier.
I can see that working because the impetus then becomes to adventure and develop skills rather than max out raw levels.
>>
>>38499707
I think we're levelling a bit fast, myself.
That would be a good fix.
>>
>>38499000
>>Go ahead. The thread is in autosage, but there's a while left.

Well, I might as well get the Slime stuff out of the way then, it's the best fit, I think.
So, Slime people, folk, whatever, I figure start out as your average, light blue gel mass, in the vague shape of a person, probably minus legs or something. They'd be born small, probbaly as some kind of egg, and then slowly gain mass and strength via absorbing/eating other things, the things they eat likely only being limited by what they can engulf and break down. A lot of their culture and probably evolution are based around eating, given that their whole bodies are kind of mouths. I see them being a fairly friendly, if rare races, seeing as there is probably not a lot of natural things that can do them serious harm short of eating them, and trying that on something thata can potentially swim down your throat and fight you from the inside isnt smart, and they can live pretty much anywhere as long as they dont dry out. I see their communities being pretty spread out, and usually near water sources, so as to not overlap hunting areas.
As far as Varients and Evoltuions go, I worked it out as thus: The first point of Variation, Is consistency/density/coagulation. etc. The start out as and are most common as normal Slimes, semi liquid, not solid at all, could easily poke something through without much effort.
The next step up would be Jams, Which are thicker and more solid, and probably slitghtly sticky, making them tougher and harder to escape from or harm.
After Jam is Pudding, which is much thicker and is more dense in mass.
The last normal Variation is Jelly, which is semi-solid, can hold a form much better then all the others, and has something like a semi-permeable membrane surface.
>>
>>38499831
why only more solids? I could easilly see a puddle of water slime, basically some kind of undine lookalike.
>>
>>38499393
Levelling gets exponentially slower because level gain is based on the difficulty of the fight. A tier 3 spider rarely encounters things capable of challenging it, so levelling slows down.

Think of it like an MMO, we're a high-level Spiderbutt in the starting zone. It's mostly low XP green and grey difficulty creatures here, but we just finished beating an army made up of a ton of slightly weaker and equivalent monsters, and a single stronger enemy.

The only fight that came even remotely close to this difficulty that occured during tier 3 was when we 5 levels from the giant bear, and that was still far, far easier than this fight was.

Also don't forget that we have the maximum possible XP bonus from levelling fast when we were young.
>>
>>38499831 continued
The last, mythical version would be Wyrd, Which is actually selectively corporeal, being more magic then flesh.

The other point of Varition is substance, or most often, Element. Basically, what the slime is made of. Fire aligned one which become a heated liquid, Ice, which are freezing, Water, which can become even more fluid, Earth, which become like mud, etc. There would also be more unusual types, Like Metal, which become opaque, super tough and durable, Acid, which is fairly self explanatory, As is Poison. Blood would probably be the Ghoul archetype for slimes, and Rust would be for one who consume metals and ores.
And thats what I got for slimes
>>
>>38499951
In an MMO, even if you're fighting reds, it takes like 60 million of them when you're a high level.

Exponentially slower.
>>
>>38499907
Its not a ladder, it's a sliding scale. Jam and the rest arent higher, theyre just different variations. Higher evolutions would probably have more to do with element and size and mass then density.
