You're staring at the ceiling of Amata's bedroom, restless and confused.
Amata is holding your left hand, looking at you confidently, expectantly. She knows that this is a difficult decision to make. Literally: not a cheap moral quandary, but an important choice you must make with minimal information, that will impact the future in ways you don't know yet, and that would require a technical and strategic expertise you don't have.
Tia, clutching your right hand, is curled up in a ball on the other side of the bed. She's not even following the discussion.

You suspected this for quite a while now, but now it's certain, it seems. Tianna is an artificial island, and Dancing Smoke is what's left of the patron goddess of the Titan that the island is built around of.

And now the Titan is a giant hot potato that you have to decide how to cook.

...that metaphor was weird. Maybe you're hungry. You've lost track of the last time you actually ate food, in fact.

"You've seen more of the Titan than anyone else." You tell Amata. "What can we do about it?"

"Even I have just explored... About one half of the upper side of the Titan. The superstructure. So, about one quarter. The lower half is completely blocked out and filled with soil, earth and sand, apart for maybe a few rooms. No idea how much is intact there."

"What about the Light of Judgement? The main weapon?"

"It's basically the spine of the fortress, and vastly reinforced. I'm sure it's usable even though the lower levels are inaccessible."

"I've seen part of the firing mechanism." You remember. "It can fire once, and then burn out."

"Permanently?" She asks.

"No idea. I don't think it would damage the rest of the fortress, at least."

The image of that giant pillar of machinery hovers in your mind. The power to erase a nation. A civilization. You have to wonder if it was ever used.

Actually... no, you don't want to think about it. You don't really want to know.

"...we could get a lot of materials from the Titan. They'd help us complete Pearl, and reinforce Tianna." You think out loud. "But what's your plan for extracting them? We can't just disappear for a week, the three of us. Besides, even if we're Exalted, how much can we do? This requires manpower. How do you plan on getting it without revealing the secret to a lot of people."

"Demons." She replies nonchalantly.

"...you can summon demons?"

"Yes. Don't think about that too much. You know I don't particularly like Sorcery, but I will use it if I have to. And trust me, I can get a good bit of the Titan taken apart in seven days."

"They don't count for your secrecy thing? You trust them to keep the secret?"

"They'll never have any idea of what they're doing. There are... Ways to bind demons, twisting their perception of Creation. You can make them believe things. See what you want them to see, hear what you want them to hear."

That's one of the most manipulative things you've heard Amata say. And that's saying something.
...you're really happy she's on your side.

"But the question remains. What should we do?"

Your mind wanders. To the past, the present ... And the future.

"The Titan..."

(Multiple options. You can vote for or against each one independently.)
>(Don't) Take materials from the superstructure (forces the Titan to stay as an "island" forever. Sand will fill rooms and corridors and make most of the Titan's non-essential space unusable. If left, will provide a vast array of subterranean rooms and passages for future use.)
>(Don't) Dismantle the Light of Judgement Array. (the Titan's main cannon. Parts can be used for building similar but vastly less powerful weapons or as construction material. If left, it can only fire downwards, so is only useful if the Titan can fly.)
>(Don't / Partially) Dismantle the flight system. (Contains rare and sophisticated magitech components useful for many other uses. Without them, the Titan will never move. If dismantled partially, it will never fly, but can float on the sea surface and move Tianna like a giant ship if reactivated and restored.)
>(Don't) Remove the main reactor. (Extremely powerful Essence engine, even superior to a Manse 5. Removing it and tinkering with it can rearrange the geomancy of Tianna entirely, creating or destroying Demesnes. Brought to Pearl, it can make it into a Manse N/A. Removing it will extinguish the volcano and damage or destroy Dancing Smoke, and, of course, permanently deactivate the Titan.)
>(Don't) Focus on unearthing buried segments of the Titan. (Requires a lot of manpower, that will be drained from the other activities, but might reveal rooms and facilities with intact and usable artifacts and treasures. This will be based on a random roll.)
>(other?) (Any other idea or suggestion you might have. Go crazy. Feel free to ask questions, both to Amata and OOC)

Also, two things:
1) character sheet is old, doesn't include last thread. You bought Kiss of the Sun. Sorry, I forgot to upload it to my tablet yesterday night.
2) i messed up, thread is #65, not #64.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a lot of allies and friends, and have a powerful Manse under construction.
But Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress built in an ancient, forgotten age, and although this is kept secret, two Deathlords are seeking to obtain it.
The Tyrant of the Doomsday Machine, ghost of your past incarnation, seeked it as a weapon to cut her ties to the Neverborn. But you have persuaded her to try and seek redemption in the eyes of the Sun in other ways, and count her as an unlikely ally.
But now the Silver Prince is coming, to punish her and claim the Titan for himself in the name of Oblivion. And this looks like a battle you won't be able to talk your way out of...

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. >Can we dismantle it in such a way that we can rebuild it if need be?
Well, if you use its parts to build other stuff... No.
You can dismantle it and keep the parts, but then... Why are you dismantling it if you're not using the parts?

If you mean that you want to dismantle it and reassemble it somewhere else: technically possible, but you'd need to do it with the reactor too. It needs its power source. It would also take longer than you have, because it's stupidly huge. You'd have to get access to the entire shaft, and half of it has the access corridors buried under thousands of tons of sand and soil.

>>38508771
>Aren't there parts of the hull that are non-vital and not part of the superstructure we can use?

Yeah, but I'm assuming that you ARE going to dismantle those because there's no real downside to doing that. It's not a choice if you have to choose between "a good thing with no real downsides" and "nothing", right?

>>forces the Titan to stay as an "island" forever
>This bit has me a bit confused.

It means you can't ever scrape the island off the Titan and just have the flying fortress and restore it to full functionality, demolishing the cities of Tianna and Pearl in the process (and supposedly evacuating the population to live inside the Titan as a flying city-fortress. Or leave them to die as they fall in the ocean if you want to go full insane first-age god-king, which is always an option.)
>>
Not sure if we need a WMD (especially one which is only usable if you take our base of operations directly over the target), so possibly consider dismantling the Light of Judgement array to make more practical weapons.

Keep everything else intact, perhaps unearth areas when we have manpower to spare.

Also consider effecting repairs to areas that might restore Dancing Smoke's memory? With her knowledge of the titain's layout, we might be able to repair it more quickly or selectively excavate rooms full of useful stuff.

First, i don't want to kill DS, i merely accept the possible diminishing of DS from the god of a titan to a god of an island to be an unfortunate consequence of decommissioning the titan. I am reasonably sure the position of god of an island with a N/A Solar Manse on it is reasonable compensation.

Second, not trolling.

The titans were built to kill Primordials whom are world unto themselves. They were commissioned by a Solar deliberative which fully controlled a creation ten times larger and ten time more populated than now. They were built to defend an entire direction of that, long gone creation.

And they were complete overkill and mostly a dick waving measure even back then. Now, it's a relic of an age that will never come again. Arming, staffing, maintaining and operating it is an expense that we CANNOT afford. Nor is it necessary in the modern creation.

We don't need it and it's a danger more than it is an asset.
>>
>>38508963
>i don't want to kill DS
Yet you voted to kill her. The island does not have a god, because there IS NO ISLAND.

She would diminish or transition to becoming god of the island, because there is no island, just the Titan.

Of course, it will require a mental + twilight roll from Maka, keep in mind.

Not really. The Titan is built around the Light of Judgement the same way the A-10 Thunderbolt is built around the GAU-8/A.

>I think in regards to "Rebuild"; the question is "can we at a later date fabricate new parts to get it working again?"
Yes, but don't expect it to be easy. You'd need a full Factory-Cathedral and First-Age-class infrastructure and trained workforce.

>>38508937
>I mean can we dismantle it, use its parts for other things, and then in the future dismantle the things we built with its parts and reassemble it.
Maybe, but you still don't know what they will be used for, and you're not really much into this kind of knowledge. It CAN be done, but you'd have to keep a detailed inventory of everything and so on. Of course, still less work than making new ones.

Well, that might be possible, but even if you do that Pearl's manse would stop functioning if you move it.
Spoiler: it's pretty obvious that Tianna's "Demesnes" are actually fluctuation in the Titan's power system that you can tap in. This is probably why it was so easy to plan a Solar Manse 5 on top of a Water Demesne 3.

You don't know HOW MANY demons Amata can summon. You're not sure how Sorcery works exactly. You do know that she has access to sorcerous artifacts of some kind, so you guess she can handle both fronts.

>>38509215
Precisely. And despite Valeriana being a Solar and a Twilight, Irene is actually more experienced than her in magitech. Valeriana's area of expertise is conventional engineering and mundane crafts of all sorts, but she never worked with magical technology.

>>
>>38509230
It's that digging the lower part of the titan is much, much more manpower (or in this case demonpower) intensive than all the other jobs. It's the only one where available manpower becomes an issue, because it's a brute-force, work, rather than one that can accomplished by comparatively few well-directed demons (where the main issue is not manpower but the ability to direct it efficiently).

And yeah, the limit on demonpower is Amata's Essence. There's no hard cap on the number of demons she can control, but she can only summon so many per hour.

However the general consensus is to keep the Titan mostly intact, so you'll have manpower (demonpower) to spare.

"...I don't think we should cripple the Titan's capabilities for spare parts and construction materials." You mumble. "Focus on digging new rooms out. Looking for loot and artifacts, but nothing more."

"Keep it intact?" Amata seems surprised by your decision.

"We can take anything that the Titan can do without, but... Who knows. We might have to use it. We might have a chance to restore it. We might need it."

"Let's not burn any bridges?" She suggests.

"The Light of Judgement worries me." You note. "If we disassembled it... I think that Tyrant would feel betrayed. She still considers it a backup plan."

"...so you don't trust her completely." She giggles.

"Trust goes both ways. I didn't persuade her to completely give up her plan... Just to try other things first. She'd take it badly."

"She might never find out that we dismantled it."

"But she might find out after all, too. Also... If we take it apart, will we have the ability to rebuild it?"

Amata shrugs her head, eyes locked onto the ceiling. "Not quickly or easily. It's a complex machine, full of small parts. Even if we don't melt down anything for materials, and keep every part we use intact, it's still going to be a massive work. Keeping track of everything would slow us a lot. Imagine, tagging each piece, writing down where it goes, in a machine a few kilometers tall. Some pieces are as small as the head of a needle."

Sounds like a nightmare. "...and what about Dancing Smoke? Could we heal her memory if we fixed the reactor?"

"Probably. Do we want to?"

(Cont.)
>>
You turn around, on your side, to face her. "What do you mean?"

"Will she like having her memory back? Will she like having her once-glorious body buried under earth and water? Being, essentially, a cripple? What will she think about Solars, if she remembers everything about the First Age? What if she changes completely? If she hates us? If she tries taking off on her own? Firing the Light of Judgement on her own accord? Self-destruct?"

You pause. "Could she do that?"

"I don't know." She admits. "Do you?"

A tense, awkward silence follows.

>We should leave her this way, for now.

Well we are extending our trust to other more dubious beings (ie the tyrant) so why not DS as well. Plus I sort of feel bad about the idea of leaving her mentally crippled when we have the means to fix her.

This will serve as guarantee in case someone take us out and try to get the weapon to fire.

"I think we should repair her." You say. "But first, we should probably ask her."

She rolls her eyes. "And what do you think she will answer? Of course she will say yes. And then what if she just betrays us, or reveals the Titan's existence to the world?"

You smile. "We'll just have to send in Samiel then I guess."

Amata groans. "I don't like her and I don't trust her."

"You don't trust anyone."

"Especially not her." She points out, determined. "But... I'll leave the decision to you."

"Because you do trust me after all?" You grin sheepishly at her.

"No." She replies. "Because you might be one of the few people I know who has a chance of stopping such a rogue goddess."

"...Let's take some essential parts out of the cannon and hide them. Just to be sure it can't be fired."

"Good idea." She admits. "But do you plan on handling this issue with Dancing Smoke now, before the Silver Prince arrives... or later?"

"If we restore her to full memory and power, or even halfway there, she might be a frighteningly powerful ally."

"And if it goes badly, she can wreck everything before the Prince's fleet even gets here." She objects.

"Well..."

"We'd have to do it as soon as possible. The amount of help she can give us outweighs the risks."

"Does it really? We have no idea what the risks actually are?" Amata protests, but finally gives in. "...Alright. Alright. I'll put Irene on the case. Give us two days. I'll tell you when we're ready to fit all the pieces together so you can be ready for the moment when we flip the switch. I just hope everything really goes as well as you think it will."

You both sigh deeply.

"Are you two done?" Tia asks, like she suddenly popped awake from a siesta. She sounds frustrated.

Amata smiles. "Well, I'll leave you two to-"

She stops in the middle of the motion of standing up from the bed and leaving, and turns to Tia with a surprised expression on her face.

Tia grins. Her castemark lights up.

A massive, green-tinted tentacle lifts her up off the ground with casual ease, wrapped around her waist, as several more slither down from Tia's dress in place of her legs.

"Um... Tia? I understand that you must be bored, but-" Amata begins pleading, as you briefly consider if you should stop her or-

Other three appendages slam into you and rip you off the bed, lifting you up and slamming you forcefully, back-first, into the ceiling.

Tia wants to play rough, it seems.

Or at least he was when he was a kid.
>>
Tia can be quite troublesome when she gets worked up too much. Her strength vastly exceeds yours, and her endurance is more or less comparable.

Amata never had a chance, of course. She might be an elder dragon-blooded, but she doesn't have the physical attitude to withstand the full carnage Tia can unleash, especially when she decides to use her shapeshifting to the fullest.

You swear to Sol, half of the Heart's Bloods she knows are probably things she hunted and killed solely to use parts of them on you in bed. You wonder...

...Actually, ignorance is bliss. Nevermind.

A few hours pass before Tia gets tired of playing with you, or rather, you tire of letting her play with you. You wouldn't have a problem going at it for much longer, but you have a lot of other things to do urgently.

It's a good thing you can put off sleep for those seven days without much trouble. You'll make up for it by sleeping once things have calmed down.

Millian walks into the room nonchalantly once she senses you're all quite done. "You wrecked the place as usual." She sighs as she walks in.

She's become completely used to this. You don't know if you should feel proud or ashamed of it. Especially considering she's one of the maids who clean up and put the bedroom together afterwards.

"...Hi, Millian." You're not too sure how to reply to that. Behind you, Tia is getting dressed again. Amata is lying face-down in what's left of the bed, and she'll probably stay there for a bit more.

You have an intuitive understanding of the charm, so you have sort of a general idea of how it works despite never having used it. You can expect, at first and in the first few days, a sudden surge in power as their limits are unlocked. (Much like what happened to you when you Exalted)

Not particularly. It doesn't change much. one day of training done before the Kiss is equivalent to one day of training done after. The only difference is that, after, it takes longer to reach the maximum.

Also, if anyone wonders, there's a Twilight 3 charm that works like Tiger Warrior for non-combat stuff. With both charms + Kiss of the Sun, you can train people up to 4 in all stats and skills.

But, keep also in mind that you can't train someone to have stats higher than your own. So even if you Kiss someone, and his maximum goes up to 4, you can't give him Dawn 4 if your Dawn is only 3.

"...How's Regis?" You wonder, slipping out of your clothes as she collects them for laundry.

"A bit shocked." She replies. "But he's fine. He's not mad at you, if you're wondering." Her tone of voice suggests that, in his place, she would be. "He's resting in his room. He actually wants to see you, though he probably doesn't really have anything to talk about specifically."

You nod. You already wanted to go and pay him a visit. You turn around as Millian takes a nightgown from the closet, climbs on a chair to reach up to your stature, and tries to slide it on you.

"...Alright, you've got to be kidding me." She groans. "I have to take your measurements again."

Despite the groan, she doesn't sound too upset by the idea. Not at all, actually. She goes and fetch a tailor's tape measure and returns gingerly.

You... You have an odd feeling. Something is wrong with her. You lift your arms to let her take your measurements, but she hesitates, and fumbles a bit. With an unusual degree of clumsiness.

"...Is something wrong?" You ask her.

She stops, and then, drops the tape measure to the ground and hugs you, arms around your waist, sinking her face into you. You can feel her crying.

"...What's wrong, Millian?" You hug her back, gently.

"...It's not fair." She sobs.

Oh boy.

A little kid crying in your arms is one of the things not even all the power of the Exalted or the Incarna themselves can handle easily.

Not sure what to do, you just hold her tight and let her cry, acting on instinct.

"...What's wrong, Millian dear?" You finally put together.

"...I can't take it anymore. I want you to make me yours."

What. "What."

"..."

"...Do you mean the way-" Of course she does. "How long have you been outside the room?"

"All the time."

"...You're just a kid. You're too young-"

"I know! I shouldn't be- It's your fault!"

"...I thought you wanted Regis."

She freezes.

Dangerous. That word makes you think.

"...Everyone is in love with you. Everyone wants you. It's crazy." She mumbles. "Even Regis."

"Regis cares a lot about you." You point out. That much was obvious.

"He does?"

"Yes. I'm sure."

"But..."

"You're too hot, Maka." Tia helpfully points out, brimming with pride.

"I don't think there's a single mortal in Tianna that isn't madly in love with you." Millian finally lets go of you, almost against her will.

You know what she means, you consider glancing at the mirror hanging on the bedroom's wall. Even with all the modesty you can muster, you look and are forced to conclude that what you see, even before any charms, makes you... likely one of the most beautiful, physically perfect beings in Creation. In appearance, you're too far removed from the rest of humanity.

And you're at the point where you should start considering how to deal with it, when your mere presence, the mere sight of you can upset people this much.

And the fact that, deep down, you feel as inordinately proud of it as Tia is, no matter how much you want to deny it.

We can't fuck them up like this. Pun not intended.

Maka is not going to enjoy it personally anyway (because they're just mortals). It's probably going to be boring as hell for her.

And, is it really healthy for them to have their first time with Maka? Maka's basically robbing them of their first love. That's horrible.

I mean, we ask Tia to be romantic and give us "time to fall in love" and to properly court us, and then we destroy other people's chance to experience the same thing because we can?

"We can. We can get Regis on to it as well, if you're alright with it." You tell her.

She stars crying again.

"...What." You're startled. You didn't expect that reaction...

"That's unfair." She weakly punches you in the stomach. "How... how can I ever say no to that? How could anyone?"

"She has a point." Tia grins. Sometimes, her callousness does upset you.

"...You don't want to-" You begin, but Millian interrupts you.

"Don't you dare take that back."

This is going to be a bit problematic, is it?

"Hey, can I join?" Tia offers.

You immediately cut her off with a "No!".

She makes a sad face in response, but you know better. Tia's gotten used to you way too much. You're fairly sure she'd explode any normal mortal.

It would be pretty horrifying, and part of the reason you try your best to keep Tia satisfied whenever you can.

"...Everything will be alright, Millian." You reassure her, ruffling her hair amiably.

"We can worry about this later." You reassure her.

She seems to relax a bit. The tension melts away, bit by bit, and she stops crying.

"You're young. You should take things easy. Don't rush it. Don't take decision or do things you might regret when you grow up." You kneel next to her, bring your eyes level, and gently put your forehead against hers. "I just want to help you. And if i mess things up... Please forgive me."

You stay like this for a few more minutes, until she's calmed down completely.

She gently pulls away from you. "...Thank you." She mumbles. "I'm sorry. That was disgraceful for a professional maid..."

"Don't even think about it." You tell her. "Now, I need to adjust my wardrobe. And I don't know anyone else who could do it but you."

Even in the current world, the idea of underage people being unable to consent is a fluid and non-binary concept. In some places, it's 18. In others, it's 16. In a few, it's 14.

If the age of consent is lower in the exalted universe, or if there is no age of consent at all, it's not a crime. The entire world isn't America, you jackass. Stop assuming that a facet modern day morality that isn't even uniform across western culture applies to a god damned fantasy universe which has other abominable things like eugenics and master races.

The bigger problem is if using supernatural beauty to get poontang constitutes rape, and that's an argument better taken to Exalted General.

We're not having Maka fuck them yet.

I say we don't do anything until she's absolutly sure of what she wants.
>>
>>38511312
So, the Dragonblooded did nothing wrong, is what you're saying?

Because this isn't a moral relativity question, it's straight up destroying two people and making them happy about it, and not giving them a choice.

Except we ARE giving them a choice, no UMI were used, we didn't even use any non-UMI-charms. We are even giving Millian time to think about it so she doesn't act on impulse.

What do you consider "not giving them a choice"?

Maka isn't breaking their doors and having her ways, and she isn't manipulating them into sleeping with her.

I'd say old enough to have their own sense of self and identity. See, it's not about their age so much as it is that we're much older, and they straight up can't say no to us no matter how much they want to.

14 is a little young yo be romantically involved with an adult, especially when our motivation to do so is . . . what, exactly? Just taking the easy way out?

While Millian is busy, you resove to pay a visit to Regis.

And not say anything about this entire issue. You'd really prefer if Millian worked things over on her own.

...Of course, first times can be really clumsy and difficult for kids this young. You are willing to help them. But it should be up to them.

You're sure that time will smooth things over.

You knock on the door and walk in, finding Regis lying in bed. A wheeled tray with some empty dirty plates is next to him... looks like Millian brought him some dinner earlier.

(Tia, following your directions, waits outside. You don't want her to say something inappropriate. She seems to be in a mischievous mood right now.)

"...Regis? Are you alright?"

"Miss Maka!" He stands up from the bed with no problem, much to your relief. For a moment you thought he was wounded or something. "What the heck happened?!"

"Sorry, we didn't even see each other in the Black Omen. Things were kind of hectic."

"I was worried sick. Miss Tia tried to explain things to me, but I still didn't understand anything."

You cough and glance at the closed door behind you.

"Are you fine? Are you ill?"

"I'm alright! Just... Millian worried that I was tired and hungry. Well, she was right on the hungry at least." He giggles.

"Bad food?"

"...It didn't have enough taste to be bad." He shrugs. "Honestly that was the worst part. They treated me... a lot better than I was afraid they would."

He's also very easy to underestimate since (as three quarters of the recent posts point out) he's really young. That'd make him an excellent agent for snooping around discretely in places where an exaulted would draw too much attention. All those street urchin skills come in handy here too.

Which is why we're giving her time to consider things. And you can't use the "We're much older" argument in a setting where Exalted outlive their partners by a significant margin. Sense of self and identity is a bit bogus too, I don't think that anyone would consider the two of them to have not yet developed their entire personality.

Personally, I don't think that it's a matter of them being unable to say no. It'd be like if you walked into a room of horny teenage boys with an army of supermodels and offered each of them a million dollars and a free blowjob. They could say no, but they don't particularly want to..

I feel that though 14 is young, it's not a heinous soul-rending "THE DRAGONBLOODED WERE RIGHT TO GENOCIDE THE SOLARS AND SHOULD DO IT AGAIN STARTING WITH MAKA" level crime to do it with two people who are both decently close to Maka after they've had time to cool off and think about their feelings.

It's also funny how Regis is too young to have sex but we've been training him to use a sword and no one complained about that. Apparently 13 is not too young to fight in a war, but having an older woman helping you making your first time less awkward is totally rape.

Now, personally, I'd have Maka get involved with Regis and Millian purely to
1) help them get over the crush they have accidentally developed for her
2) give them some basic sexual education for their first time.

Anyway,

Probably, I doubt we could have made it down the hall with Tia if we were naked.

Regis can deal with a little naked Maka. He's pretty level headed when it comes to sex and stuff. Hell, if we do end up going through with the threesome, he'll probably just be chill about it whenever anyone asks him.

You smile and pat his head. "...You did well, Regis."

"Thank you." He says proudly.

"Tell me about the time you spent there."

"They kept me locked in a room." He reminisces. "It was a huge room, like a small palace. Bed, table, chairs, sofa, mirrors, bath, it had everything. The decor was terrible, though."

"Skulls and spikes."

He nods. "Skulls and spikes. And bland food. But it felt weird to actually have servants that I could order around."

"Those ghost girls in black clothes?" You remember them.

"But I'm totally a better butler than them."

So cute. You HAVE to ruffle his hair.

"...Did you DO anything weird with them?"

"What do you- OH! No! No, no, no." You said that just to make him embarrassed, of course. Small, guilty pleasures. "Of course not!"

"You were still a prisoner, though."

"Of course. I couldn't leave the room. I lost track of time... It didn't have windows. No fixed times for meals, they brought food when I asked."

"Have you seen the Tyrant?"

He shivers. "No. No, fortunately. I did see... Fleurdelis, her name was? The pretty woman in the black and white dress. From time to time. She checked up on me every now and then. She was... pretty cold, but not bad." The words are a bit clumsy, but you get what he means. "We had tea once."

"What did you talk about?"

"She wanted to know about me. How I met you. What's my job. Normal stuff." He shrugs. "Nothing... suspicious, like about soldiers or fortifications."

A very light interrogation, or just a chat, you reason. She might have used charms to make him talk. Or drugged the tea. No way to know. In any case, Regis didn't know anything... compromising.

"You weren't tortured or anything, right?" You lift an eyebrow.

"They never touched me." He replies.

You sit down on the bed next to Regis and take his hands in yours.

"Say, Regis."

"...Yes, lady Maka?"

"Would you like to become a magic knight?"

"I'm sorry?" He blinks, confused.

"We found a magical suit of power armor called Ashigaru Armor in the... deepest parts of Tianna's old First Age weapon stock. This suit of armor would give you powers and abilities near to one of the Exalted."

His eyes open wide in disbelief. "...Are you serious?"

"I wouldn't play with you like this. You're young, Regis, but you're a good kid. You're serious, responsible, resourceful. I would trust you with this artifact."

He's so stunned words refuse to leave his mouth.

"To make you capable of using that suit of armor properly... I'll bless you with the power of the Sun. Grant you the gift of Essence."

"...You can DO that?"

"Only to five people."

His head spins. He lies down on the bed, wide-eyed.

"I... I..."

"I can leave you to think-"

"No." He grabs your hand. "I'll do it."

"To protect Millian?" you guess.

You lean down on him, brush his hair up, and gently kiss him on his forehead.

[KISS OF THE SUN]

The room is flooded with light. Everything is painted orange, then golden yellow, then pure white.

Regis slips from under your arms, fainting, and flops down on the bed, knocked out by the force of Essence flowing into his soul. The imprint of your lips keeps glowing on his skin, impressed on his forehead.

For a moment, your heart skips a beat. Is this normal? Did you do something wrong? Is he alright?

You lean down, putting your face close to his nose to feel his breathing, and a hand on his chest for his heartbeat. Both register. He's just passed out.

You sigh in relief, but it stops in your throat when the door is slammed open all of sudden.

Is this Tia-

You turn around, caught by surprise, and see that Tia is nowhere to be seen. She must have wandered off, bored or looking for something.

Still pulling the large cart of neatly folded, stacked clothes with one hand behind her, Millian is standing on the doorway, utterly confused.

"...What are you doing to Regis?!"

You cough. "...It's not what it looks like, Millian."

Right, 6 XP. save? or spend? (in a skill, at this point)

Also, since the thread has still some life left, I was thinking we could pick clothes for Maka's magical wardrobe. (and maybe Regis' magic knight outfit).

Honestly Fists of Iron sounds like a good buy to me since if what we heard about the Silver Prince's forces are true we're going to be seeing a lot of Heroic Mortals, undead, whatever.
