As usual, there's other shit that will probably affect my writing quality and speed, but we'll get this done anyway.

The Fulda tank yard is now swarming with tanks of all makes and colours, as reinforcements arrive from Fulda, pushing forwards in a 'couter-attack' against the suspected main camp of the bandits. You're sitting on top of your tank, an SMG in hand, keeping an eye on the bandits that have been rounded up so far, including 'Vasili Novak', the commander of the Cherepkha, and his crew. A woman stands on the ground by your tank, overlooking the sorry group of bandits.
"Novak, it's been a while," the woman says. Her shoulders are emblazoned with patches saying THO, and insignia.
Novak just spits.
"Charming as you always have been," she says. She turns and looks up at you. "You there, you're Robert Bradley of the Edelweiss Brigade, aren't you?"
"Yes ma'am," you say. You're not sure, but something about her exudes that she be respected, so you err on the honorific.
"I knew your father," she tells you. "If it wasn't for him, a lot of us wouldn't be here. Captain Caitlin Carlyle, Head Official of THO Fulda. I know, rolls of the tongue, doesn't it?"
"Nice to meet you, Captain," you say, giving an informal salute. "You're the head of the THO office in Fulda?"
"Yep, I make sure everything is in order in Fulda. I coordinate the missions, the registration, and the payouts. Speaking of payouts, I'm told that you're the one who caught old Cherepkha?"

>"Yeah, we took down Cherepkha. I'm told there was a bounty?"
>"Yeah, we took down Cherepkha, but we had help. The Megatron crew deserve some of the money too."

Well Megatron did the heavy lifting with the other tanks, but we were the ones who chased the turtle away and tracked it then rammed it and forced its crew to bailout

"We don't deserve all the credit, Megatron helped us out as well," you tell her.
"Peyton's already on our payroll, and I'm sure if he was here he'd say something about giving the money to the rookies. Still though, not bad for your first real mission."
"Thanks," you say. "So how much is the bounty anyway?"
"Around twenty-five thousand Rhinemarks."
Susan whistles from her spot sitting on the front hull, reminding you she's there. "That's enough to buy like, a WHOLE T-54s. With working parts and everything!"
You nod to yourself. That's... well, T-54s are pretty cheap. "What about the mission payout?" you ask.
"Well, considering your exceptional performance, I think we'll give you a boost to that payout. How does another five thousand Rhinemarks sound?"
"That sounds... really good. Thank you." You're at a loss for words. With the bounty and this payout, not only is this more money than you've ever had in your life.

Caitlin nods, and then walks to the back of your tank. Pearl is sitting on the engine deck, a blanket around her shoulders along with Sarah's arm.
"Hey Pearl," Caitlin says.
"Hey Cate," says Pearl.
"How are you feeling?"
"Alright, I guess. About as alright as you can feel after what happened..."
"Mhmm. We'll find them and get them back, don't you worry. So what do you want to do now, hun? The barracks are still there for you, if you want."
"N-no," Pearl replies. "I don't think I can go back to the barracks. My room will be empty now, and..."
"Yeah, I get you. You don't really want to be alone."
Caitlin gives you a look.

"We can stay at the barracks with Pearl, if that's okay?" you ask Caitlin.
She smiles at you, and you feel like she approves. "Sure, we got plenty of spare rooms for the three of you. How does that sound, Pearl?"

"So what happens to the Cherepkha?" you ask.
"Well, it's not like we have any use for it," Caitlin says. "We're probably going to leave it in the graveyards."
"That's such a waste! Can we keep it?"
Caitlin grins. "You got a recovery vehicle?"
"Well, no..." you reply.
"We offer recovery services based on the vehicle and distance. For that thing, I'd say around twenty-five hundred to tow it back to town, more if you want to tow it somewhere else."
"We'll consider it," you say. You're pretty sure Markel at the tank mechanics store has a recovery vehicle of his own; you might be able to rent that out for cheaper. "What about Pearl's crewmates? You have any leads?"
You notice Pearl's head picks up at the mention of her name, but she doesn't turn or say anything.
"Unfortunately no," Caitlin says. "Our best bet is the Bandit's camp. We'll just have to go on any leads we find once we get there. They can't have gone far in one day."
"Thanks," Pearl says.
"It's no problem, Honey. Hell, it's my job to look out for you girls, I am your employer after all."

>>
"What about this counterattack?" you ask. "Can we do anything to help?"
"Not with your tank in this condition," Caitlin replies, pointing at the front of your turret. It's pockmarked with scars and dents from the autocannon fire, and your cannon has a large scrape on the bottom from where you hit the Cherepkha.
"...Right," you say.
"It's not trouble, it's gonna be an easy job anyway. We've got the bandits on the run, and they're mostly BMPs anyway. We've got the technological superiority here, especially with Megatron around." Caitlin nods at you, seemingly deciding that the conversation was over. She turns to the rounded up group of bandits, and gestures at a group of MPs standing nearby. "Alright, you bandit scum! We're taking you back to town! Get up!" The bandits all climb to their feet and get herded off by the MPs, Novak among them.
"Hey, one more question, Captain!" you call to Caitlin.
"What's up?" she asks.
"What's gonna happen to Novak?"
"Probably a prison sentence," she says. "He's only killed people when fighting them in tanks; as far as we know, he's never killed any non-combatants, but he's notorious for helping out other bandit groups. We'll see. Is that all?"
"Alright," you say, nodding.
"See you at THO, Edelweiss, we can get your payment in order. And those bunks!"
You wave to her as she leaves with the MPs, hopping in some sort of tracked troop carrier that leaves in the direction of town.

You call Erich back to your tank; he'd been lurking somewhere in the wrecks, having another cigarette. Susan starts up the tank, as you prepare to go...

>To Markel's mechanic shop. Your baby needs some repairs.
>To the THO office to sort out that payment.

I very much doubt that, he just doesn't have the incentive for it nor is he that scummy, he's just a blue collar worker looking for stable work, which is the exact opposite of the bandits

Susan takes you on the road back to town. Everyone's opened their hatches, taking advantage of the cool winds. Pearl is sitting in Erich's loader seat, while Erich himself perches on the back of the turret.
It's a short ride to the THO office. Pearl hops down from the tank, and reassures you that she's alright enough to be on her own for a few hours until you get back from what you need to do. You let her go into the complex, but you're still a little bit worried about her.

You step into the THO front office, where the same woman as always is sitting at the desk. She looks up as you come in, and smiles at you. In another corner are a group of four people, three men and a woman, dressed in dirty, oil stained fatigues. They seem busy draining the water cooler of water.

1/3 probably
>>
You step up to the desk, and the clerkwoman greets you warmly.
"Ah, Edelweiss, I hear your mission was a big success. Captain Caitlin came in and told me how you saved our own Pearl."
"We had a lot of help from the Megatron crew as well," you tell her. You've noticed that the tankers over by the water cooler are watching you now, while simultaneously draining all the water.
"It's expected of Megatron. It's not expected of a rookie crew on their first real engagement. There's only one other crew that comes close."
"And who would that be?" you ask.
"Von Grimmelhausen's 'Rose of the East', actually," she says. With a completely straight face, you note.
"What."
"You're saying that pansy Von Grimm has actually put together a crew?" asks Sarah. "The one who clammed up when I went to ask him for work? The nutty guy who speaks too fancy?"
"That would be the one, yes," says the clerk. "I realise that he may have some... eccentricities, but his crew have become very efficient. They helped defend the town from the bandit attack earlier."
"But they were killing us over the radio waves!" calls one of the tankers between gulps of water. "'This is the righteous fury of the Haus Von Grimmelhausen!' It was painful to hear!"
"Anyway, Edelweiss, I assume you want your payment?"
"Yes please," you say.
She hands you a prepared envelope. "That's the twenty-five thousand bounty for the elimination of the Cherepkha, and five thousand for the mission payout."
"Thank you very much for that," you tell the woman. "We'll see you later for our next job."
"Thank you very much for your service today, Edelweiss. You have been a great help. We expect great things from you."
You say your thanks, then step outside.

>>
One of the tank crews follows you out, the woman. "Hey, Edelweiss Brigade, right?" she says. She then pours the cup of water over her head. "Ohhhh, that's refreshing. Sorry, didn't want to ruin their carpet."
"Uh, no problem," you reply. "Yeah, we're the Edelweiss Brigade. Who are you?"
"Lucia Freeman," she says. "Freeman Freelancers. The others in there are my crew and my brothers. We're freelancers, as you could probably tell."
You nod in reply.
"So you're the new kids on the block, huh? You know, you in particular look familiar." She points at you. "We're not from around here, we're from Dresden actually, so forgive me if you're actually famous or something, but what's your name?"
"Robert Bradley," you say.
"You mean like James Bradley? Oh, that is a famous name up north. Heard he was a real good commander in the last war, but he went missing soon after."
"I'm his son, actually," you tell her. "Been kinda, living on my own since he disappeared."
"Oh man, I'm sorry! I didn't mean any harm." She looks mortified, like she accidentally ran over your cat.
"Don't worry, it's fine. I've gotten used to it."
"Yeah, yeah," she nods. She looks at the girls. "Oh, I know you, you used to work at the Tank Store in Dresden, before the, ah, Dark Riders burned it to the ground."
"Yeah, that's me," Susan says.
"Well I'm glad you found work. Look, I won't hold you guys up any longer, you probably got shit to do. But if you're ever in Dresden, hit me up, alright? We can hook you up with work, some of the off-the-board jobs. I gotta get back to my brothers and the water. It's amazing what having your tank go up in flames can do to your thirst." She notices your looks. "Oh! Don't worry, we got a replacement, it's fine!" You're not sure if her definition of fine lines up with yours. "Anyways, see you guys around, ok? Don't forget to hit us up if you're ever in Dresden." And with that, she disappears back inside.

"You know what, I'm still worried about Pearl," you tell the girls. "Let's go and check in on her."
"Seriously?" Sarah asks, a sceptical half-grin forming on her face. "She's a big girl, she can take care of herself."

"Alright, see you then," Sarah says as she skips off.
You see Erich come out from behind a building, cigarette in hand. "Hey Erich-"
"New York, ten am," he interrupts. You nod, then he stalks off, cigarette still smoking.

"I need to come up with a better way of organising things," you say to yourself.

"Really? Uh, thanks, haha," she says.
"It's no problem," you say. "So, shall we get moving?"
"Yeah, yeah, right."
You head back inside, asking the clerk where Pearl's room is exactly. You don't want to wander around the barracks for an hour like an idiot just trying to find the girl. You're told that she's in the back corner on the right, and you and Susan head back there. It's a squat little square building, lined up in rows with the other buildings, with a canteen occupying the centre of the complex. There's a bunch of large sheds where everyone keeps their vehicles; these are noticeably empty at the moment, like the rest of the barracks, probably due to everyone being out chasing down bandits.

The door to Pearl's building is slightly ajar. You share a look with Susan, then knock. "Pearl? You there?"
You don't get a reply. You push the door open. It reveals an empty, and dark, common room. There's magazines on the small coffee table, a few bookshelves, and a wireless by the couch. The curtains are drawn, however, leaving the room in darkness. You step inside, looking around for any signs of Pearl. You see none, but you do hear the sound of a shower at the back of the house. You step into a short corridor, this one leading to the rooms themselves. In the centre is a closed door, electric light coming from underneath it, sounds of a shower coming from within. You walk up and put your ear to it, listening, but all you can hear is the shower.

"Hey Susan, can you go in and check on her?" you ask.
"Alright, Commander," Susan replies. You step back into the common room as Susan knocks. "Hey, Pearl? What's up?" is all you hear before Susan closes the door. You can hear murmuring, as you sit down on the couch and have a closer look at the room. This place is decorated more like a house than a military barracks, and you can understand since it seems like Pearl and the others have to live here most of the time. It does seem like a permanent residence. There are little ornaments lined up on the shelves, a couple of sea shells, and a picture of the crew. You look at this picture closely, but don't touch it. There's a young German man, flanked on both sides by the three girls. They're all wearing their crew uniform and helmets, and they're standing in front of their vehicles. You feel a pang of sadness. One of these people are dead, and the other two are missing. You take a step back and sigh.

They're in there for another few minutes, while you busy yourself checking out magazines. A couple of AFV mags, but mostly girly things. Nothing particularly interesting, you've already read the latest issue of AFV monthly anyway, but it's enough to pass the time with. Susan comes out and slumps down on the couch beside you, her clothes slightly damp.
"She's fine. Needed a hug, but she was fine. She's getting some civvie clothes now."
"Alright. She wasn't, I dunno, huddled up in a ball in there?"
"No, really, she's alright. She probably could still use the company tonight, though."
Pearl comes out, dressed in practical civvie clothes, ready to go wherever you wanted to go.

Don;t we need to salvage the Turtle soon?

I wanna salvage a tank! Although it'll be a bitch for resupply down the line, one German and one Russian tank.

If it T-62 and not using autoloader....
we can always buy same 105 cannon like our Leo1 for our T-62.
Israelis offer many upgrade package for T-54 and T-62 involving replacing 100mm gun with 105mm one.
>>
>>38549484
I figured we'd save that for a later date MF.

Never know how much salvaging the turtle would cost.
>>
>>38549484
Huh, you are right, it does not mount an autoloading gun. See if we can't rip that busted 115mm out and put an L7 in there!
>>38549527
If we drag it out now, it's ours, it can sit in our yard until we need it.
>>
>>38549624
>See if we can't rip that busted 115mm out and put an L7 in there!
Uhhh no.

the 2A20 Rapira is a pretty decent gun, and pretty importantly, a smoothbore, so it can use modern ammo, also its mount and recoil systems would be very different than the L7's in the Leo, I dount it would fit without butchering our turret, not worth it.

>>38549484
It has a 115mm gun, we just need to repair it and its fine
>>
>>38549817
Yeah, probably easier to rebarrel the 2A20, though I'm no tank armourer as you can see. Probably easy enough to get Russian ammo anyways.
>>
That reminds me, is there any chance we could grab an M60-2000?
>>
>>38550737
Not sure. It may still be a rare find.
>>
>>38550859
It'll be easy to find a 60s chassis, the turret and gun are the hard parts

You blink. You spaced out for a second there. You're currently on your way to Markel's tank repair store, but for some reason you feel like it's taking longer than it should to get there. You shake your head and shrug it off. You must be tired from earlier. It doesn't take too long after that to get to Markel's shop, with Markel poking his head out as he hears the rumbling engine of your tank. He gives you a low whistle as you stsp off, eyballing the damage.
"I see you ran into the chaos of this morning," he says, checking out the pockmarks and scrapes on the front of your tank. "BMPs?" he asks. He tuts as he sees the long scrape down the bottom of your barrel. "Did you ram someone? Your gun is waaaay out of alignment, that's going to take some real fixing. The rest of it is superficial, maybe some armour patches, but that is going to need some real work." He looks at you. "How much was the payout?"
"Uh, well, we claimed a bounty, so it was a lot," you say.
"How much?"
"Nineteen thousand Rhinemarks."
Markel blinks behind his thick glasses. "Oh. Well you'll have no trouble, no trouble at all with price, haha. Planning on using her over the next couple of days?"
"No? Not particularly. I mean, there's the counterattack on the bandits."
"Forget about that. They will be back before I am finished, long before. I will need two, maybe three days to realign the gun and fix its mount. But it will not cost much, especially for you my friend. Two thousand Rhinemarks."
You hand him the money.

"Hey Markel," you start. "Do you sell anything? Upgrades, tanks, whatever?"
"Unfortunately not, my dear friend. I can order things, but they come from Frankfurt or Dresden and will be very expensive, ja? We don't have much in the way of business for upgrades around here, only parts and ammo. I am of offering recovery service for small vehicles though. I found Bergetiger. Ancient! But works! I fixed, works great! Can even pull your Leopard home! It's wonderful fjnd, I named her Betty!"
Markel's enthusiasm is contagious and you start grinning too. "Hey, you think you'd be able to tow something for me?"
"Depends on what needs towing!"
"There's a T-62 we knocked out in the graveyards, a pretty special one. Its gun is a total write off and we blew apart its suspension, but it has nearly impervious armour. How much would it be to tow it from out there to back here?"
"A T-62? Easy peasy! I will have it back here by tomorrow! 1500 Rhinemarks!"
That's 500 less than what the THO were offering, though Markel does only have a Bergetiger. "Markel, you sure you can tow it? It's, uh, upgraded."
"Ha! Betty is mighty Bergetiger! I'm sure she could tow even Megatron if we of asking nicely! All will be fine!"
"If you say so..."

I'd rather not chance it with the recovery, we can pay Merkel to fix it when they get it back here, but it needs to get back here first.
>>

>>

Btw.

I just hope being cheap doesn't fuck us over on this, cause if Merkel fucks up its still his job to fix the Turtle and if he fucks up, we've still got a functioning tank with working MG's to use on him.
>>
Yeah, after getting out of bed and then having that thing happen where you can't see because all the blood is gone and then I fell over, and FUCK I'M TIRED, I think I'll need to call the thread here.

I'll use these votes to do the post next time when I'm coherent. That might be tomorrow, or maybe wednesday (tuesday for you guys). We'll see how accommodating the Korean Gaming cafe is.

in all likeliness it'll be next weekend though
>>
>>38554737
No if he fucks up it's on him to pay out of his own pocket to fix the fuck up.

Normally, you'd go to a fair work board over a service or good not fully provided, but I think word getting out of him screwing up would be VERY bad for his business, hence he probably won't screw us over.
