You are Clarissa, a high-school student, Kimiko's Substitute Shinigami and Karakura Town's only spiritual balancer and protector.

Currently, you are on your way to school. The doctor, a man who appeared to be in his early thirties, said that Naoko is most likely suffering from a bad case of fatigue, and that it'll only be trouble if she doesn't get better in a few days. He wrote down basic instructions, and then departed. You left the girl in the care of her grandparents, and gave in to Kimiko's pleas of going to school with her. It was pretty adorable how hard she tried to look completely nonchalant while all but begging you to go. Well, maybe you're over exaggerating that part a little bit, but it was still cute.

Aiko is still cute. The expressions her body makes aren't her own, but the childish face that performs them is. The mischievous smirks, the pouty frowns, the malicious giggling, the elegant hair flicks, the cold and focused glares, the sarcastic tones - none of those are Aiko's, and yet those words and gestures are tinted by her pleasant voice and frail figure to the point where it becomes easy to question who it is you're speaking with.

And yet... everything feels strangely normal. Like nothing is really wrong. Like your life hasn't really changed all that much. Of course, that's simply not true. Your life has taken so sharp of a turn that you're not sure if it'll ever go back to normal. Right now, you're casually chatting with the girl you've killed, and the two of you are on your way to resume an ordinary school day. And yet... you're perfectly calm.

It feels strange, but not worrisome.

It's currently late morning. The weather is sunny and hot. Up in the sky, there isn't a single speck of a cloud. A soft breeze cools the air, keeping it from becoming unbearable.

You get a bit of a reprimand at school, from both friends and teachers. They ultimately let it slide because your grades are good and this is the first time something like this (namely, leaving for the bathroom and not coming back) has happened, and because you managed to come up with a somewhat believable excuse.

The day proceeds as normal, though it feels like you haven't slept for days. You keep finding yourself constantly dozing off, and unlike the eternally drowsy Moriko, you can't learn things while asleep. You (and several other people) have asked her before how she manages to pass everything while sleeping during literally every class, but she never gives a legible answer. She probably doesn't know why, either.

Eventually, it's time for lunch.

Everything seems to be in order, though it does feel like you're constantly being watched. You can't quite pinpoint who's doing it, but it doesn't appear to be the general public. Well, at the very least, it doesn't look like Chappy caused that much damage to your reputation here-

"Yoo, Clarissa pyon! Let's go an' eat, pyon!" Akemi loudly perks up, showing off her white teeth with a dumb and cheerful smile. Your face contorts in a cringe. You shamefully cover it in your hands, trying to come off as sleepy rather than embarrassed. "Haha, pyon, pyon, pyon, pyon, pyo-"

You stand up and shove her down to the ground with a boot to the face.

(2/3)
>>
>>38537595
"STOP SAYING THAT ALREADY!" You yell at her, and she mumbles something affirmative under the heel of your shoe. You drop back into your seat, letting out a sigh. Besides Akemi, there's Ren and Moriko, both looking at you kind of strangely. Moriko squats down to poke the energetic girl, who's pretending to be unconscious while foaming a bit at the mouth. Ren is the first to speak up after a pause.

"Are you going to go eat with us?"

...

>"Why are you even askin'? Course I am."

I bet she's just blaming herself. There's something deeper at work. We keep describing Aiko as frail...maybe it was an assisted suicide. Maybe Aiko wanted us to be her angel of mercy and plyed us into it.

"Alright. I'll just go pick up Aiko as well. We're all friends, after all."

"What? Why would you want to invite that lying vixen? She's probably the reason there are weird rumors floating around about you. I'm against it." Ren immediately frowns and voices her displeasure with your decision.

"See? That's exactly why I'm inviting her." You stand up again, taking out your glorious golden lunchbox. Moriko zones out again and asks who Aiko is. You and Ren explain it to her, using terms of varying politeness.

Begrudgingly, Ren goes after you as you leave for the adjacent classroom. Akemi and Moriko follow. You stumble upon Aiko standing a few steps away from the door. You don't you interrupted her walk; it seems that she was standing here and waiting. The girl looks a bit disappointed as she sees your small gang of friends pour out of the room after you.

"What are ya standing around for?" You tell her, placing a hand on your hip. The girl meekly smiles and follows you, carrying her cutesy pink lunchbox with both hands.

You in your usual corner on the roof of the school building. The atmosphere would have been tense, as Ren keeps staring daggers at Aiko, if it wasn't for Akemi's whining. She's not sad because you kicked her in the face, though.

"W-why aren't ya sayin' 'pyon pyon' anymore? It was so cute! I use it with all my friends and family now! I-it's great, it makes me feel like I'm a cute bunny rabbit, or, or somethin'... say it again! Pleaseee! come ooon!"

You ignore her as you eat. Nobody else seems willing to talk about or even bring up your 'pyons'. That's good. You should just let those memories die.

"Oh, where's Tomoko?" You ask, realizing that someone's missing from the usual circle. Ren momentarily distracts herself from trying to erase Aiko's existence with an intense glare to shrug and look your way.

"I saw her storming out of class. Did anyone else notice that she's kind of... gloomy?" The red haired girl says and finally gets started with her lunch. The unwanted visitor has been ignoring her highly aggressive stares and was just quietly eating all this time. For once, it seems that Kimiko's more or less adhering her role as Aiko.

"Tomoko? Why'd she be gloomy? Don't think someone like her would show it even if somethin' really was up." You say.

"I guess it must be something really serious." Ren nods. Akemi went quiet for once. You look at her, and she's grinning. It's the kind of grin that belongs on the face of a gossiper who knows what's really going on, even while everybody else is scratching their heads in confusion. She looks so smug it makes you want to kick her again.

"I know what's up!" She perks up again. She then goes quiet, smirking at you expectantly. As if she's waiting for you to ask.

Nobody asks. Everyone goes back to their food. Akemi's smirk gradually turns into a pleading frown.

"Uwaaa! Don't ignore me!" She starts waving her arms around in distress.

"Just say it already!" You yell at her and the grin starts creeping up again, as if appeased by the request.

"It's because of Clarissa!" She suddenly accuses you. "Nobody noticed it, but I did! You were really, REALLY nice to your brother lately!"

"I was nice to Paul lately? No, you were just seeing things," You shrug off her accusation. "Besides, even if I was, how the heck's that related?" You ask, though the realization comes upon you almost immediately after you say that.

"She's jealous!" Akemi confirms it.

"That's ridiculous! He's my brother, and I don't like him at all!"

"It's probably true, though. She gets really aggressive about it. Didn't she pick a fight with the council president over it, too?" Ren says.

(2/3)
>>
>>38538826
"A fight? I wouldn't call it a fight, they just... don't get along well, I guess." You say, putting your lunchbox aside. You've finished your food really quickly. The others aren't even halfway through their meals, and you're already done. Seems that you were pretty hungry.

"She'll get over it." Ren shrugs again. A bit of a silence rises as everybody quietly munches their food.

Why is Clarissa so cute?
>>

because she says she isn't.

One of the same reasons that Caede over in Hollow Quest Redux is so much cuter.

...though, given last thread...I fear for the state of her cuteness.
>>
>>38539883
Be strong, anon. Know that cuteness.
>>
>>38539913
Giving her the Hellwyrm was adorable. Though its affects on her are still up for debate.

Granted, she remained a young girl during her transition from just a Demon to Nobility of Hell. Maybe it'll just be her armored form that changes...and her humanoid form will be somehow cuter.

An extra glow to her cheeks. Shinier hair. Extra pinchability. Hmm...Granted she ate something several times her strength and mass. She might be cuter by becoming a bit pudgy and being upset by it...

Worst case scenario...she grows up, but then she'd have more in common with Zweity. IE having bodies that don't properly express their emotional mental age.
>>
So, if Aiko comes back as a Arrancar...how hard do we try to get her back? How hard do we try to get her forgiveness? Do we refuse to fight her? Do we charge in and kiss her? Do we have a mental BSoD

Right now all I've got is that she misses her. They were in a relationship. Clarissa killed her.

So how do I determine how Clarissa would act?
>>
>>38540074
Well the Ifs are

If we don't kill Claybone for good. If Claybone becomes part of a Menos Grande of Gillian Class. If that Gillian advances to Adjuchas. If Aiko is the dominant personality or a significant part of the gestalt personality that arises. If she survives long enough to be hybridized. etc

"We should all hang out after school." You say, interrupting the silence.

"Yes." Moriko quietly agrees, her eyes still half-closed, an amused smile slowly growing on her lips. She doesn't say anything else, though.

"It's been a while since we did that. I'm still kind of mad at you for neglecting us." Ren mutters and looks away.

"Well, I'll make it up to you." You assure her, trying to sound confident.

"Clarissa will buy us dinner." Aiko suddenly says that and smirks.

"I'd probably forgive you if you did that. A perfect way to apologize to Tomoko, too." Ren grins as well. Akemi guffaws and Moriko breaks out into a chuckle.

"Thas' right! Free food, woo! Clarissa's the best, pyon-" Before she manages to properly finish that 'pyon', you smack Akemi upside the head.

"But how am I supposed to do that? I ain't got pocket money, you all know that!"

"You're the one who suggested it, and you're asking us for help?" Aiko's smile turns malicious.

"That's right. Are we supposed to do everything for you?" Ren joins in.

"Can't ya ask your parents for some cash, Clarissa?" Akemi asks you.

"But they're out of town for the week! And food for so many people? That'd cost so damn much that they wouldn't even..."

"But someone still handles the expenses at your house while they're gone, right?" Ren mercilessly batters you with her common sense.

"That's right, just ask that person. You've been nicer to him than usual lately, weren't you? It should be easy as long as you use your sisterly charms." Aiko pours some more salt into the wound.

"Fine, just... just forget I've ever mentioned it!"

Ren and Aiko giggle at your helplessness. It seems that ganging up to bully you made them set their differences aside, even if for a bit.

Well, you did neglect your friends, so maybe you deserve it.

"It's okay, Clarissa." Akemi pats your back. "Don't give in to bullies... pyon."

"I'll throw you off this fucking roof if you say 'pyon' again."

They continue ganging up on you until the lunch period ends. At least Ren seems to have gotten her frustrations about you out of her system, and she's gotten a bit friendlier with Kimiko.

The rest of the schoolday is largely uneventful. Tomoko really is being cold to you. You think she's the reason it feels like someone's watching you all the time. It's kind of creepy, but, well, you'll just prove her wrong by not interacting with Paul much. So, like you usually do when you're in school.

The day is over. You're standing in the empty hallway, carrying your bag over your shoulder. Actually, there's a lone brunette standing by the window and fiddling with her cellphone, but everybody else has either gone home or to whatever club they're part of. You're not in any clubs, so you've got tons of free time.

Well, you need to do something about this free time of yours.

That girl looks kind of lonely, and you're bored. Two birds with one stone, eh? And she looks kind of cute, so... Not that it has anything to do with your decision, of course.

You approach her, all cool-like, a confident smile plastered over your face.

"Yo. Haven't seen you around." You say, keeping one hand on your side, and stand in front of her. She looks up from her phone.

"Uh... hey." She responds and looks away from you, back towards the screen. You stand next to her, leaning against a wall by the window.

"I'm Clarissa." You continue. The girl seems to glance at you occasionally, and you think she looks a bit annoyed each time, though she tries to mostly keep her eyes on the phone. It doesn't look like she's entirely comfortable. Maybe she thinks you're standing too close?

"I'm Yuuko." She responds. It sounds more like an effort to stay polite.

"I'm from class B." You say; Yuuko quietly nods. "So, uh, I ain't from Japan, you know. It's still a bit hard to get used to here..." You add. That line always gets a girl's interest; most of the time, you don't even need to bring it up first.

"Yeah, I... I figured that you're not from Japan."

It's not that you're some kind of pick-up master, but people are generally curious about you by the virtue of you being a foreigner. And you're a blue-eyed blonde, so that helps sometimes, too.

But this girl's acting just like Naoko and doesn't seem to care at all. The two of you have gone quiet. The question of "Where are you from?" or anything like that doesn't come.

"..So, what's up, Yuuko? Why're you standin' around all alone? Waitin' for someone?" You refuse to let the awkward silence continue and ruin everything. You can still do this.

"I'm going home soon." She lifts her phone up a bit. "I just wanted to finish this conversation alone and in peace."

She just told you off, didn't she? Well, you can still salvage this, you just need to...

(1/3)
>>
>>38542004
Ouch, spectacular failure there.
>>
>>38542004
"How about I come with you?"

Wait, no, no, that was kind of weird. She probably thinks you're a weirdo now. But... if you just look confident, it'll probably be fine. The girl turns to you, a brow raised.

"What? Did you just-" She stutters and freezes when her eyes meet yours. You keep a firm grin and posture, and remain supremely cool and unflinching. Even if you blew it, you'll still try to look cool while doing it. But what's up with her? She's looking you straight in the eye. Is she doing that thing where you try to assert dominance by making the other person look away? No, she looks... confused. She's not moving, either.

After several seconds, her eyes begin to finally move. They begin to slowly creep lower. Lower. You feel your face get warmer as they reach that uncomfortable, chest-level height, and they still keep going even lower.

Once she reaches your feet, she looks back up. Just now, her eyes shamelessly ogled your body - there's just no other excuse or explanation. She didn't even try to hide it.

"What will we do when we get home?" Yuuko asks, her face flushing a slight pink.

Wait. What is going on? Is she playing a joke on you, or is there some other, innocent meaning you're missing out on because of your adult (perverted) outlook on life?

You're... really not good at picking up girls, honest. It's never worked before. Even when a girl seems to like you, it's always only as an interesting friend. The thing is, it's been kind of hard to find someone with preferences like the ones you have. Because of that, throughout your whole life, you've had only one relationship even despite being quite popular.

And besides, that was a lame, botched line!

(2/3)

...huh.
Suspicious! Too suspicious!
>>
>>38542028
"Uh, I was just... I mean... where do you live?" You try not to look like a total idiot and continue talking. She says an address; Yuuko lives pretty far away. "A-are you okay, though? You zoned out for a bit there, Yuuko."

She nods shyly looks away, though keeps throwing the occasional glance at... at your skirt.

Is this happening for real? After that awful exchange? This girl didn't seem to give half a shit about you just a moment ago and now she's...

...

>"I'll... walk you home, then."

There's something way off here, but what better way to find out what than going through with things?
I definitely don't want to see Clarissa being adorably awkward as fuck some more, no way!

Super flustered.

Yeah, let's.
I'm sliiightly disappointed Clarissa can't work up some smoothness after surprisingly having this work, how'd she even get Aiko s a girlfriend and still be this dorky?
>>
On the bright side anons, either this isn't a trap or the like and Clarissa is lucky, or it is and Kimiko gets to make fun of Clarissa for thinking with lower parts of her body later.

Hey now, first off it was a theoretical alright! And second, it wouldn't necessarily be a trap per se, if it's someone with spiritual powers they could just want to ask us about stuff in private instead of at the classroom.
>>
>>38542028
>What will we do when we get home?" Yuuko asks, her face flushing a slight pink.
Truly, lewdness disease. We must keep her away from Naoko, her immune system is probably weakened and would have trouble resisting.
>>
I forget, do we have the ability to feel anything spiritual or whatever right now?
If we do this girl is either mundane, or someone decently strong, either way it'll be interesting!
>>
How long DO we have until clubs etc are out and we're meeting everyone, anyway? Couple hours?

This is weird. This person's either ridiculously bipolar or it took her two attempts to properly see you.

Well... either way, it seems that you've gotten lucky, as long as this isn't a prank. If it is, you're going to beat the shit out of whoever pulled it. Yeah, so there's nothing to worry about. This kind of chance isn't going to come up again, so you should take it.

"Wh-what are you looking at, Yuuko?" After a brief stutter, you pull yourself together. Your heart's beating unpleasantly frequently and strongly, but you still pull off a cocky, confident smirk.

"N-nothing..." She nervously gulps. You lean in closer, your hand sliding along the windowsill the girl is leaning against.

"I don't mind. It's just that..." Your confidence is surging out of control. The anxiety and fear are suddenly gone without a trace. You whisper into the shorter girl's ear. "It's not fair if you don't let me look, too."

Yuuko turns to you, covering your hand with her own. Her warm, slow breaths tickle your neck. Her flushed face is adorable to look at, and her thin, parted lips are just begging to be-...

Someone's resounding steps down the hallway bring you down to earth for a bit. You still have some shame left and you don't really want to be seen like this.

"I'll... walk you home, then, Yuuko." You pull yourself away from her. She nods, but she looks disappointed. The girl's phone lets out a sound, but she just tucks it away into her skirt's pocket.

...

The trip takes a while, or maybe it's just that you're really impatient. You were feeling on the top of the world just a few minutes ago, and now you're struggling to make small talk on your way to Yuuko's place. It doesn't seem like she's concerned about it that much, though. Whenever you glance her way, she's always staring at you, or, well, parts of you.

She's not even bothered by the people around her. You feel that if you just went for it, she wouldn't even mind the spectators.

Just what the hell have you gotten yourself into? Are you still in class, just dreaming?

Her phone keeps ringing. It's a subject for small talk, so you ask her who keeps texting her.

"It's just my boyfriend."

"Uh... 'just' your boyfriend, Yuuko?" You certainly didn't expect to hear that. The negligible tone with which she says it makes it even weirder. And... does she swing both ways, or something? Well, that's not the most important thing right now.

...

>"Wait a second, Yuuko. It's still cheating even if it's with a girl, you know. I don't really want to do it like that."
>"Well, you're... still up for it, right?"
>Other. (Write-in).

Whoa whoa whoa.Wut? DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS!

Weirder and weirder. Still little clue what's going on with this chick, especially since she seemed actually receptive in this update.
>"Wait a second, Yuuko. It's still cheating even if it's with a girl, you know. And you've honestly been acting weird since I struck up conversation. What's up?"

Awww maaan, now I can't go through with it without feeling bad! Oh well, at least it got us Clarissa being surprisingly competent at flirting this update.

Alright, alright, it was just a suggestion!
Let's see what's going on.
>>
>>38544167
Maybe she does want to break up and the best way is to have him find her with another person! Which is awful to be honest...

Or the worst She was going to try to drag us into a three some to make it interesting for him.
>>
>>38544354
Ah, these ideas wound me greatly!
Surely she is a fair maiden only misguided by her treasonous body's reactions to our irresistible protagonist.
>>
>>38544354
>>38544354
to which we'd probably respond.

"aw hell no. Not into dicks...but you are hot...okay he and I cannot make eye contact and his thing doesn't go near my orifices,"
>>
>>38544427
Clearly. Shonon protag has all the charisma.

>>38544460
>Aw Hell no!
Is probably where it would stop.
>>
>>38544460
I mean ignoring the 'not into dicks' part being a pretty big deal and all, that sounds about as far from Clarissa as you could get in the written word.
>>
>>38543825
"Wait, wait. It's still cheating even if it's with a girl. You can't just do something like that, especially since I'm... I'm a total stranger. We've had, like, one half-assed conversation. W-why do you even want to do this so much with me?"

"I'm a stranger to you, too. It didn't stop you from approaching me..."

"It's not the same at all! I'm not in a relationship." You find yourself growing both annoyed and wary. Not even in the 'is she messing with me?' sort of way, but the 'is she crazy?' kind.

"S-so what if I am in one? He wouldn't find out, a-and even if he did, he probably wouldn't mind if he saw me with another girl..."

"I still don't like it! And if you're seriously trying to cheat on your boyfriend, then I'm not going to be having part in this."

"T-then if I ditched him, it'd be fine?" She asks. With a shaky hand, she lifts up her phone, and starts tapping buttons. Eyes widening, you grab her by the arm. She drops the device, and it smashes into pieces.

"What the hell are you doing?! Are you fucking nuts?"

"Oh, c-come on, I just want to..." She reaches out towards you with her hands. You shove her, underestimating your strength and making her fall. She ends up in an embarrassing position due to wearing a short skirt. She looks up at you with teary, pleading eyes, not even bothering to stand up.

This is pathetic, and it's attracting a ton of attention.

"I-I'm sorry..." Yuuko sobs. She finally stands up, and, covering her face with a hand, runs away, crying.

You're not sure whether you should feel angry or sorry for her. You certainly feel uncomfortable. This whole situation is surreal. Did you encounter a stalker with a creepy crush on you?

Just...

And just what are you supposed to do now? You can't really just stand here, as tempting as that might seem.

...

>Go home and rest.
>Hang out with your friends. Bring up Yuuko.
>Hang out with your friends and try to forget about this.
>Visit Naoko.
>Bring it up with Kimiko.

That was fucking bizarre.
>Visit Naoko.
Some mind-bleach after that.
>>
>>38545057

>Visit Naoko.

>Awkward
Imagine how she feels?
I mean it's not really possible because I don't think anyone has a clue what her thought-process was like, but in one swift conversation she made herself look like a cheating slut to Clarissa, got rejected, flashed a bunch of random people and ran away like a weird. Add to that she clearly doesn't have a great relationship with her BF and...
>>
>>38545325
And she's got a broken phone. Those things are expensive as fuck.
>>
>>38545325
Shit, if the cause of her weird behavior in the first place was depression or some other kinda downer mood, I hope she doesn't hurt herself.
This is why I wanted to follow her, but nooooo we aren't allowed to do that. Hmph!

Thread's over for tonight, getting really late! The most voted option will start the next thread!

The next thread will be announced on twitter:

If you have any feedback or questions, please shoot them my way!

Thanks for reading!
>>
>>38545478
thank you for running
>>
>>38545428
You can if you get enough votes, anon.
>>38545057
>Follow her.
>>
>>38545478
Thanks for running due.
>>
>>38545506
It wasn't an option or a thought from Clarissa and it was unclear how long we'd stood there so I figured it wasn't really doable, and it's a bit late now.
>>
>>38545478
Thanks for running.
Why no option to follow?
>>
>>38545553
Clarissa's just a bit confused! If that got enough votes, I'd have gone with it, though.
>>
>>38545478
Thanks for the thread man, was great fun! Yuuko was confusing but really entertaining.
>>
>>38545630
Eh, alright. I'm not a fan of having something so obvious be write-in only when others are not though. I'd have voted for it if I thought the lack of the option wasn't you trying to keep us from doing it to be honest. It's hard to separate QM forgetting an option or just trying to pick IC customs, and QM purposely trying to avoid anons picking some plot-ruining but reasonable course of action.
