The story so far:
Following the aftermath of a bizzare meteor shower, a young man named Makoto Kiryoka was granted fabulous secret powers from an arcane source known as a Foci, turning him into a magical girl. Which was great, except for the girl part. After defeating another, rampaging magical girl, he experienced a short reprieve before being fully recruited as one by an extraterrestrial AI, which he took it upon himself to simply call Robo. As the magical girl Maiden White, Makoto is the only person who can purify their corrupted souls.

Makoto encountered quite a few magical girls around the city of Osataka in the subsequent weeks, and freed them from the darkness of their souls.

> Yui Oomura, the domineering but promiscuous head of the student council, who became Ebony Strict; capable of mentally controlling fibres and leather as naturally as her own limbs.
> Momoko Yasuka, a young girl and sister to the head miko maiden Umeki Yasuka, who became Vivid Blue; who could bring stone statues to life to serve her.
> Hiroko Shimada, a demure but surprisingly resilient girl, who became Fluid Azure; capable of controlling and turning into liquid molecules.
> And finally, most recently, Aoi Saito, a harsh delinquent and male, who became Glory Gold; capable of creating a near-impervious suit of golden armour.

> Shun Tanakawa, a tomboy and sports fanatic, was the original magical girl that Makoto defeated and had her focus removed. To allow her to still fight evil, she was granted a mechanical suit to allow her to fight as the Mecha Musume, at least until Robo could deem her foci ready to return to her,
> Yuuki Kiryoka, whilst not a magical girl, is no less fantastic. The product of Robo's research into human culture, he is the androgynous genetic clone/offspring of Kiryoka genes and blood, creating a young child capable of human understanding and emotion. Following his experiences, he eventually split off from Robo's personality, becoming his own separate entity.

Makoto himself experienced a number of embarrassing, flirtatious, and harsh encounters with these girls, and even became romantically engaged with a few. Yui and Shun both care deeply for him, Yuuki considers Makoto to be something of a brother or possibly parent (considering the clone thing), Aoi and Umeki have unrequited crushes, Momoko considers him to be a super hero, Hiroko doesn't trust him, and the school is up in arms about what the hell gender Makoto is. His frequent swapping between the two and general femininity not helping with that debate. Apart from that, however, things have been relatively calm and stable for him.

However, recently a number of disappearances have occurred without Makoto's knowing. His friends are in danger, and he is about to face a new threat, with a degree of power and understanding that far outweighs any that have come before. With his own soul on the line, Makoto will have to fight for his very soul. This is Maiden White: Deception Class!

You are Makoto Kiryoka; a teenage boy with a penchant for getting into strange situations. You bear the power of the Mahou Shoujo against the corrupted souls that seek to terrorise the innocent.

The alarm at your bedside chimes for 6:00 AM, but you're already awake when it does

You didn't at all sleep last night, but how could you have? A cursory glance at your cracked phone screen reminds you that your friends; Yui, Shun, Shizuko, even Hiroko, haven't responded to any messages you put out. For days, at least Yui has been unavailable. The silence is terrifying to you. Shun and Yuuki both assured you that they'd find the others, and that you needed rest to recover your powers and injuries from a close encounter with an unknown magical girl, but they haven't come back from their patrol yet. You listlessly shift in bed, noticing the sun rising over the mountains in the distance.

"It's morning..." You mutter. "Where are you guys?" You shoot off another message to Yuuki, and to Robo as well, but no response picks up. You can't believe you feel this helpless...

Your ears prick up to the sound of a creaking door downstairs, and you sit up in bed. Could it be... Without hesitation, you throw the blankets aside and bash the door to your room aside, making your way downstairs in a haste. You glance around the kitchen downstairs just in time to see Yuuki collapse on the couch.

"Yuuki, are you okay?" You ask him frantically. He rolls over and groans at you. You fear the worst. "D-Did you find that magical girl? What happened?"

"Ugh... nothing." He groans. Eh?

"I'm just..." Yuuki takes a second to rub the sleep from his eyes, "exhausted. Shun and I were out all night trying to find them, but nothing happened. Couldn't even sense anyone, I don't get it." He grumbles, shifting over onto his back. He blinks blearily, small bags visible under his eyes. Not that you're any better. Yuuki and the magical girls can all sense the aura of a focus, but recently that power seems to be blocked out somehow. Dammit...

> Come on, we need to find them.
> Get some sleep, I'll go out and search.
> Mnn... so tired.
> How is Shun?

You rub your own eyes and yawn. Yuuki's lethargy is contagious, evidently. You hadn't been feeling it until now. "Mnn... so tired." You mumble, sliding down the side of the couch to seat yourself on the floor. You feel a hand reach over and touch your head, gently moving back and forth.

"It's alright, we'll find them eventually." Yuuki assures you. It's little comfort to you. The two of you actually do drift off the sleep for about an hour; Yuuki's comfort of the couch being infinitely better than the floor, but in your state you can't complain. What wakes you up is the sight of your mother, Hana, along with her jostling you.

"What are you two doing down here?" She asks as the two of you blink lazily. "Look, you only have to sleep down here if Makoto brings his girl friends over." She sighs. However she quickly notices the exhaustion in the two of you and groans, "You two were up all night, weren't you? Dammit Makoto, you have school today." She stands up and goes over to the kitchen. Honestly you'd forgotten, but it is Monday so that makes sense. Hana returns to the both of you with some kind of basin, then splashes both of you in the face.

"BLAUGH!" You grunt as the water hits you. Hana smiles.

"That'll have to do. Up and at 'em, boys." She says with a smirk. The two of you can only frown back at her.

You both gather your things and prepare for school, heading to the bus-stop. Shun doesn't seem to join you there, which is odd, but she does bike to school sometimes. The pit in your stomach fears the worst though.

"Shun's fine." Yuuki comments, breaking your concentration. "I dropped her off before I came home. She's pretty tired as well, though." He scratches his chin. Knowing her, she won't have any reservations about coming to school late. The bus arrives and the two of you get on. Yuuki's stop comes first, leaving you to ponder your thoughts as the suburbs pass by the window.

"Ah, do you mind if I sit here?" Someone asks. As you look, the first thing you notice is a mass of pink hair. A young girl, roughly your age but possibly older, in a school uniform you don't recognise, stands next to you on the bus. Her features are exquisite and vibrant, which is a sheer contrast to your tired mug. You're a little taken for a second, at least until you realise she still needs an answer.

> Y-Yeah, go ahead.
> Sure, do whatever.
> I do mind, actually.
> Look back to the window.

"Sure, do whatever." You mutter, turning back to the window. You're honestly too concerned right now to be bothered by a pretty girl. Your mind is fixated on where she could have gone. The girl sits down next to you and seems to spend the next few minutes glancing at you expectantly.

"Uh, your name is Makoto, right?" She asks with a bright look.

"Uh, that's right." You reply back. You're not sure how this girl knows that though, you don't make it a habit to go around telling everyone your name. She grins and tilts her head to the side.

"I thought so, it's great to finally meet you!" She extends a hand towards you, expecting a handshake. You're really confused now, but you shake regardless.

"You'll have to forgive me, but, ah, who are you?" You ask. A vein on her forehead seems to appear for a second, but she quickly regains her composure.

"Aha! That's funny, 'who am I', acting like you've been living under a rock, ahaha~" She giggles, brushing her ponytail back with one hand. You blink. The pink-haired girl seems to flinch for a second and twitch. "Y-You're serious?" She asks, to which you nod. She seems to fume silent to herself for a second and mutter something, but then stands up and places a hand on her small chest.

"O-Okay that's fine! I suppose I might be popular but maybe my influence hasn't reached a backwater like this yet. Ahem... I am Mai Aihara, but you can call me Mai-chan!~" She announces, giving you a short wink. She continues to stare at you, expecting a reaction, and winks again. The name rings a slight bell, but you can't recall from where. You've certainly never met this girl.

> Ayy, it was! Wasn't sure if anyone would remember that.

"Who?" You reply back. Mai lies on the floor of the bus in a defeated slump of depression for a few seconds after you ask that. "Uh, well it's great to meet you anyway~" You say, quickly trying to recover.

"Likewise!" She remarks with a peppy voice. Luckily for you she seems to bounce back just as quickly as she gets depressed. "I was worried about whether anyone would know me at this school or if I might get swamped by fans. Say, do you know how many people know about me here. A lot, obviously, I'm guessing, but how many exactly. I don't know if-"

This girl talks... a lot. You turn back to the window as she waffles on about her popularity. Seems she's some kind of idol singer, though you can't recall much about her on the news. She thinks highly of herself, at least.

"-so that's how I got into that, isn't that weird?" She asks, nudging you with an elbow.

"Uh... sure." You reply back. She raises an eyebrow.

"Ha~ You *are* a good listener. Yui was right to mention you." She remarks, crossing her arms behind her head.

"What did you say?" You ask grimly, now giving her your full attention. She smiles and glances over at you.

"Yui Oomura. White hair, haughty attitude? Oh, we go way back." She says with a wide smile. "And she told me aaall about you Ma-ko-to." She winces innocently, tilting her head again. Something about that didn't *feel* so innocent to you, though...

> To you, they're essentially modifiers for your powers. Saito has a broken one, so it's messing up certain parts of his, like the transformation back to normal.

"Are... you threatening me?" You ask, furrowing your brow. She's acting cute and innocent, but if she's mentioning Yui then she must have something to do with her disappearance. She could even be the magical girl you were chasing last night. Unfortunately, with your sensing powers currently nullified it'd be impossible to tell.

Mai blinks at your accusation and laughs. "Threatening? What in the world would give you that idea? The fabulous Mai-chan would never threaten a friend." She assures you.

"And we're friends then?" You ask.

"Of course. Any friend of Yui is a friend of mine. Don't you love making friends, Makoto?" She asks, keeping up what you assume is a sly undertone. It is getting harder and harder to nail down if she's messing with you or not.

"I... guess." You admit.

"Well I hope we can become the best of them! I imagine we'll be seeing a lot of each other in the competitions." Mai comments as the bus comes to a halt in front of the school.

"Yeah... wait, what?"

Mai doesn't need to explain further. Osataka High is absolutely crawling with students. Both regulars and attendees of other schools seem to have congregated here today. The field is covered in sports equipment, banners and stages have been put up; it's amazing considering how the place looked just three days ago. Mai pushes past you as you gape at it all.

"There's going to be an announcement before school starts officially. I hope you're there watching me~" She requests sweetly. She doesn't wait for your response though, and disappears into the crowd. Hopefully she is just a peppy student idol and nothing more...

>>38542846

It's harder than usual to move around the school with this mass of people. All the lockers are blocked off or already filled with stuff, so you drop your things off in the homeroom. Aoi doesn't appear to be in, which is no surprise considering his current status, and Shun is absent as well. She, however, has replied to one of your messages. Something to the effect of "SHIT, I'M LATE!". Good to know she's the same. At the bell, your class is shuffled outside. A grand stage has been established just shy of the field, which is now flanked with high walls and bleachers. They really went all out on this thing; it looks like some kind of sports arena.

A faculty member pokes at her microphone from the stage and begins. "Thank you all for attending. Today, Osataka has been chosen as the site for these regional games, in an effort to foster friendship and good nature between the schools of Japan." She says, and continues on to explain some of the events. Evidently it's not just about sport, but virtually any club can be turned competitive during this. Something about fostering creative talents. You hear a deep panting behind you as a hand slaps your shoulder. Shun, out of breath and half-dressed, is behind you.

"I... made it..." She wheezes, straightening her uniform. It's a relief to see her in one piece.

"Hey everyone!" A charming voice pipes over the microphone. "I'll be working as MC for these events and we'll be broadcasting live over a couple of channels, so do your best out there. We'll be watching closely!~" She points to the crowd and winks. Must be some kind of signature; they cheer to it at least. Some details are discussed but the speeches end quickly. Normal classes are suspended so people can do what they want.

"And after I ran all the way here..." Shun winces after learning that.

"Why didn't you bike?" You ask. She puckers her cheeks shyly. She didn't think of that.

You decide to search the school for your remaining friends; Yui, Shizuko, and Hiroko. Maybe you'll see Saito as well.

"Be on the lookout for a pile of coats." Shun comments with a grin. Hopefully he'll be a little more subtle this time.

"Hey, Shun," you start to say as the two of you walk through the halls, "What happened last night? With the search?"

"We couldn't find her," Shun sighs, "Really nothing at all happened. Was kind of a bummer." She grunts. Hoping for more action, it seems.

"Can you tell me specifically?" You yawn, hoping for more detail.

"We flew around for a while but couldn't see anything because Yuuki was on the fritz, at least for sensing. After that we... we..." Shun stops in the hall and scratches her chin.

"...Huh, that's weird." She says.

"What?"

"I... I can't remember what we did last night." She admits. That's... concerning. "I remember seeing you, telling you to go back, flying around, and then... nothing. Just a blank until I got home." She recalls. This memory gap definitely seems familiar; the maids at Yui's mansion described something almost identical.

"A-Are you okay?" You ask.

"Hm? Oh yeah, fine, I guess." She taps her chin. She seems the same to you. "I hope I put my suit away correctly." She hopes.

"Kiryoka?" A voice asks. You look to the source and see a faculty member; the same one that was talking on the stage earlier. "Do you have a minute? I really need to discuss Ms Oomura's resignation from the Student Council with you."

"You've seen Yui!?" You ask, almost hysterically. The teacher takes a step back.

"Of... course? She's here just like always, although when I tried to commune with her she told me she wasn't part of the council. I can't believe I missed something like this." The teacher moans, showing you a copy. True to her word, it's a printed copy of a resignation letter dated over a week ago, along with Yui's signature.

'But that's..." Even if Yui only disappeared last week, that still means this paper was submitted well before she was kidnapped. If... if she even was?

"Well... I guess we can be glad she turned up?" Shun remarks awkwardly, taking a look at the paper itself.

"It's not just her either; All of the council resigned, and they've all submitted their papers early enough that they've taken effect this week! How did no-one see this coming, aghh!" She bites on one of her nails and almost looks like she's going to sob. "The competition's on and we have virtually no-one on the student side to assist. So much paperwork... Which, ahem..." She takes a second to compose herself and then smiles.

"Which is why, as Yui's personal secretary, you have the substantial duty of taking on the role as Head of the Council!" She states, trying to make it sound positive. Both you and Shun look at her like she's insane. "W-Well don't blame me! I wouldn't have picked you for it either, but I can't find anyone else to do this!" She gnaws on her notepad angrily.

It's kind of stupid, and it's obvious that it's an effort by someone to troll us, and there's really no justice in getting baited by something so stupid, especially when there's nothing at stake.

> Mai: NOT THE FACE!

"This is ridiculous, let me talk to Yui." You demand, tossing the paper to the ground. The teacher glares at you for littering, so you pick it back up, but nods at your suggestion.

"Hm, that would be easier if you could convince her to stay on, but I don't know, she seemed adamant." The faculty member says as she leads you through the halls. You reach a classroom on the same floor as your homeroom. Yui's classroom, huh? Inside it's pretty sparse but you can see Yui gathering some things from her desk. Despite this insanity, seeing her perfectly fine and in the flesh is a gargantuan relief.

"Miss Oomura, I have Kiryoka here with me to discuss-"

"There's nothing to discuss" She responds plainly, zipping up her bag. "I've submitted the resignation letter, you've no grounds to hold me to my former position." She states firmly, turning to the three of you. The teacher looks like she's going to cry again and seeks you for help. You sigh and you step forward. Yui looks the same, although frowning, but you suppose that's par the course for her.

"What is it, Makoto?" She asks.

Before anything else, you leap forward and hug her. She flinches at how quickly you do it.

"Thank goodness you're okay." You tell her woefully. She pats you on the head awkwardly.

"Why wouldn't I be?" She asks with a confused frown, then wedges you away from her.

"Because you wouldn't return any of my texts or calls over the weekend. What happened to you?"

"Hey, you shouldn't dating other students!" The teacher interjects. The two of you glare back at her and she hides behind her clipboard.

"Nothing 'happened' to me. Mai showed up as part of the festival and we decided to spend some time together. I haven't seen her in years, after all." Yui explains, sitting on her desk. "So no, I didn't answer my phone because I wanted to be alone with an old friend. Why do you have to be so clingy?" She asks with an annoyed look.

> That's no excuse!
> I'm not... clingy.

"Agh, whatever, don't quit the council, Yui! This is insane." You ask, grabbing her hands and holding them. "I thought you loved being council head."

"I did but I guess I've just grown detached from it." She sighs, looking at your hands holding hers. "It's really none of your concern what clubs I join anyway." She's starting to get on your nerves now. What's with her!?

> PFFFT- Okay, nice one.

"I'm not... Rngh, that's no excuse! Three days is a long time considering everything, you wouldn't have even known if I got hit by a bus!" You tell her.

"What?" The three of them ask, utterly baffled.

"N-Nothing. If you leave, they'll force me to be the head! Do you know how terrible I'm going to be at it!?" You shout at her, grinding your teeth. She glares back at you.

"So this is about you, then?" She tuts, raising an eyebrow.

"Wha- No! I don't care about that, I-"

"Perfect, then you have no objections." She says, lifting her bag over her shoulder and walking past you.

"Shun!" You shout. She nods and blocks the door from Yui, She glares at the redhead, but you grab her hand from behind. "Is this what you really want? To quit, and leave the mess on the hands of someone who doesn't know what they're doing with this?" You ask. She contines to glare at you coldly. "What about all the things you love in it?!"

"What? The mountain of paperwork?" She asks, ripping her hand back. "The fear of the students and faculty, the rumours, the approachability. I'm who everyone dumps their worries and concerns on, so what do you care if I want a reprieve from all of that?"

"That's only the bad though..." You say, balling your fists. "What about..." You give a quick glance to the teacher, then lean in towards Yui. "A-about our crossdressing?" You ask timidly. She shrugs.

"Just more clothes to clean. If you want to crossdress, you can do it without burdening me." She says out loud. The teacher's jaw drops almost as much as your heart sinks. Shun continues to block the door but Yui pushes against her. As silly as it sounds, with the love of that gone, she barely feels like Yui anymore. You extend your aura.

You extend your aura to search her for corruption, despite the strange block on. It's difficult; like trying to see through thick fog, but you manage to get a beat on her from such close range. Her aura... baffles you. It's clean, relatively at least. There are some signs of corruption floating around, but no more than usual; certainly not enough to break her or cause such a drastic personality change. But even if she did corrupt, that would ENHANCE her usual desires; this is almost the complete inverse of that! Rather, you can definitely sense Structure inside her. Long strands of marble white, circulating around the pockets of corruption, squeezing them like a wet sponge, before circulating towards her core. However towards the centre is... nothing; an absolute blank.

"I'm not... letting you leave." You mutter to her. She glances back at you through squinted eyes.

"And how are you going to do to stop me?" She asks plainly, gesturing to the teacher in the corner. She's betting on you not transforming in plain view of a regular person, not to mention whoever might be right outside. You can't just let her go like this... can you? Or is this some kind of trap?

You furrow your brow and grit your teeth. You... can't. Not here, not in plain sight of who knows how many people. Maybe you could try and rip it out normally? Your powers can affect structure, though you have some reservations about how well they work on them. Not to mention the mess you caused last time you tried to purify a structure.

"But..." you mumble, "that's still better than this!" You shout and pull her into a firm hug. Your aura spreads as far as it can go whilst untransformed. You mix. Chance! you think as you leverage your power. Yui's eyes widen as you connect, and you immediately feel yourself being pushed back out.

"J-Just... a little more..." You grumble through your teeth. Suddenly you gasp and fall backwards as a sharp jolt travels through your body. You stumble, your mind hazy, and your grasp quickly dissipates. You're still reeling but Yui just flicks her hair back.

"Don't do that again." She whispers to you, frowning as her eyes flash with static. She turns back to the door as you extend a hand to her. Shun stands firm.

"I'm not letting you take one ste-EP!" Shun affirms before being pulled from behind with considerable force. She tumbles back into the hall as Hiroko appears. She pushes her glasses up and glances at Shun.

"Easy there. Yui, ready to go?" She asks happily, glancing at Oomura. She nods and the two of them leave the room. Shun and the teacher quickly help you back up.

"You okay?" Shun asks, patting you on the back.

"Y-Yeah..." You mutter back. That was something you haven't experienced before; like touching a live electrical socket. Some kind of defence mechanism?

"I-I'm sorry." The teacher bows to you both as she speaks. "I thought you'd just talk it out, I didn't expect that. Look, I'll try and find someone else better suited but I implore you to please think about it." She begs, slapping her hands together.

The student council isn't your concern right now; Yui is. You leave without giving her an answer and Shun follows close behind.

"What's wrong with her!?" Shun asks.

"I don't know, but she's got those... structure things inside her. We've got to get them out." You affirm.

"Right, but... how?" Shun asks, slowing down in the hall.

"What do you mean how?" You ask angrily. "I'll just purify them!"

"Whoa, whoa, hey!" Shun grabs you by the arm, stopping you in the hall. "Stop and think about this. We have no idea what these things do or even what they are. Remember what Yuuki said. If your first instinct is just to go and rip them apart you could cause something even worse." She insists. Worse than what? you think angrily. Suddenly you stop. Shun smiles, thinking she's gotten through to you.

"You're normally gung-ho about these things, Shun, why the hesitation?" You ask, frowning. She blinks.

"Well, because of Saito and-"

"You disappeared for a good few hours last night and 'conveniently' have a memory gap." You say, leaning in closer. "I'm guessing whoever put that structure in her also messed with her mind, and that of her maids. Probably yours as well..." You theorise. You continues to stare at her, gaining more and more suspicion. Corrupted girls certainly would like you to sit there and do nothing, and Shun was formerly a magical girl.

"How do I know you're not the same?" You ask, crossing your arms. She flinches.

"I- We- I'm not-" She sputters incredulously. "Makoto, I'm acting nothing like her. You're paranoid! Okay, I might have screwed up somewhere but I'm not plotting against you. I want to save Yui as well, but going straight at her feels like a bad plan. Maybe we can look at her manor or research up on whoever Mai is." She continues to spout plans other than head-on confrontations.

Might as well make sure. Surely she has nothing to hide or reason to disagree?
>>
>>38546572
Paranoia is justified here. We should also check ourselves, just to be sure. We did have contact with Mai after all, she might have tried to slip a subtle geass in.

Writing
>>
>>38546774
Okay, she may have a point. You're woefully under-advised to deal with this kind of situation, even if it does make you feel helpless. But even if she's right, that doesn't mean she isn't being controlled.

"Alright Shun, we'll do it your way." You grumble. Shun sighs and smiles. "But, I *am* going to purify you, just to be safe. Maybe I can heal that memory loss." You say. She nods to that and shoves her head into your hands. You duck out of the hallways into an empty classroom and shift into Maiden White. With your increased powers, you spread your aura and scan over Shun.

Deprived of her focus and fetter, Shun has virtually no aura to speak of, so you can rule out her having any structures at least. If they're to blame for the mental change. You share your healing powers with her mind however and pulse with power. She flinches for a second, then takes a step back and breathes.

"Mnn, yeah, it's coming back a little bit." She admits, holding her head head. That's one mystery solved, at least. Shun continues to think for a moment, then her eyes widen and she has a look of worry on her face.

"What's wrong?" You ask. She glances down at you with an open mouth and hesitates to speak.

"I remember what happened now." She clenches. "I got jumped by someone, some kind of light. It's still kind of a blur but they... they took the Musume suit." She says grimly. That almost halves the fighting power of your remaining team. Someone really doesn't want you to have allies right now...

"S-So that's why..." She mutters. "I'd been feeling kind of... unsafe this morning. I didn't take my bike because I thought it might crash, and fighting against Yui seemed like..."

"Without Musume, it's understandable you might feel threatened, especially if you gave it to our enemies." You theorise. "So even if you can't remember, you still feel the emotions of the time." Shun nods.

Also, I want to punch Mai in the face. If that was your intent, then congrats.

As much as it pains you to leave Yui like this, you need to regroup and plan your strategy. Mai seems to have one, so you best create one as well.

"Let's go regroup with Yuuki. It's only club competitions at school so they won't mind if we leave for a while."

"Not in the mood for a swimming race, huh?" Shun giggles.

"Not against Hiroko." You shoot back. "She's probably controlled as well." Shun shrugs. The two of you manage to get out of the school fairly easily, unaware of the eyes watching you from the rooftop.

--=====--

The two of you ride the bus to Yuuki's school, Osataka Junior School. It's fairly similar to your own but a hell of a lot smaller, but at least that matches the student. Shun looks over the fence at the playing kids.

"Aw man, they're so cute. Like little munchkins." She coos, smiling at them.

"I didn't figure you for a 'good with kids' type." You comment.

"Oh, not even slightly. But aren't they cute?" She asks with a smile. One of them points at her and a group of kids flee from the two of you. Shun coughs. "Let's, uh, lets find Yuuki."

"I already called him, he should be out here soon enough." You say, leaning against the fence. True to your word, Yuuki appears after a few minutes and notices the two of you.

"Makoto, I, uh, it's good to see you." He almost goes to hug you but catches himself before he does so and offers you a handshake. You pull it into a hug promptly.

>>
>>38547843

"Heya short-stuff!" Shun comments, "Do you have any gaps in your memory?"

"Hm, yes, I haven't de-fragmented in a while. But since when do you care about my memory, Shun?" He asks.

"Not computer memory, dingus. Memory-memory!" She points to her skull with both index fingers.

"Oh right, I mentioned that to Makoto this morning. It's most bizzare." He admits. You forgo the explanation and simply clamp a hand onto his head, surging healing power into it. It didn't take all that much to recover Shun, so Yuuki should be prompt as well. He follows a similar method of recovery and realisation, and his story matches Shun for the loss of the Musume suit, although evidently they just passed over Yuuki.

"Well he's not a magical girl or an obvious robot, so maybe they didn't notice." Shun comments as Yuuki holds his head.

"But if Yui told them about us, surely she'd mention Yuuki being a robot? If they're taking out our powers, Yuuki would be one of them." You point out. "And why wouldn't they just mind control the two of you? I guess you seem in control of yourselves."

"The simplest explanation, Makoto." Yuuki comments. "Either they didn't want to, or they couldn't. Ruling out the former, we can assume the latter."

"So they are limited in some way. That's good news." You say with a smile.

"Maybe Yui's even holding back info on us, so they didn't grab Yuuki." Shun suggests, gesturing to him. That is a possibility...

"Yuuki! Where are you?" A girl's voice emenates from the playground. You don't recognise it, but it makes Yuuki go pale.

"S-Say, why don't we go check out her manor or grab this Mai girl? Anything but here." He suggests timidly. From what you can tell there's a cute girl asking other children where Yuuki is. It's like an amateur version of your own harem problems.

"Come on, loverboy." You say with a chuckle as you hoist him over the fence, away from his worries. Back at the bus stop, you plan your next move.

"Yui's maids might know something, but I'd like to try and find Shun's suit as well." You say, expressing your ideas.

"Finding Musume shouldn't be too difficult," Yuuki says, confidently. "tracking down magical girls might be an arcane art but Musume has a constant tracker. I should be able to tell exactly where it is." He takes a few minutes to co-ordinate with his other half, Robo, and his eyes blink at the completion. "Got it, follow me!"

The three of you pursue the lead, foregoing the bus in favor of on foot. It's slower than using your magical form, but you don't know what risks you might be taking with Mai in town. Surprisingly, it leads to the woods below the Osataka mountain. Honestly it's not too far from Yui's manor either.

"Two birds, one... eegh, robot!" Shun exclaims as you climb down the slope of the road.

"Eloquently put." Yuuki mumbles, rolling his eyes. Shun walks ahead a few feet out of earshot, but you pull Yuuki back to ask him something.

[1/2]
>>
>>38548643

"Yuuki, since we're consolidating our forces, you think it might be time to stop dragging your feet on her focus" You insist. He glances away and pouts. "Oh come on! It's been ages since you agreed to it, but every time we bring it up you just look the other way."

"That's because- Agh..." He stops himself from saying it, which irritates you to no end.

"A lot our friends are in danger. You need to do this." You insist. You could really use the help of whatever raw power her focus can offer.

"We'll be in more if I..." He mutters to himself. "I just- I just need more time to figure it out! I'm close, I swear!"

"Close to what!?" You ask. "Is she corrupted or something?"

"It's... nothing to do with the focus itself. The way I have them locked down is... complicated." He says, straining to put his words delicately. "Look, the second I figure out how to circumve- uh, how to get it out safely, I *will* give her powers back. I absolutely promise." He places a hand on his chest.

> ...Fine.
> You really can't trust me, huh?
> No, we're done waiting.

"What the!?" You hear Shun blurt out. The two of you go to join her and your jaws almost drop. Standing just out of view from the road is a girl wearing Shun's musume suit. She's cursing to herself, trying to push back tufts of ratty black hair and trying to get the suit under control.

"This freaky thing..."

"Shizuko?" You ask in disbelief. The girl turns around and you recognise that pale face with black bags under the eyes. She quickly panics and flips down a flimsy faceplate though.

"I-I have no idea who that is! I am the Mecha Musume. Begone!" She announces in a fake tone, waving her hand at you. Shun isn't sure whether she should be laughing or furious.

---=====---

Shizuko stands there, half-cocked in the musume suit, doing a very poor job of hiding her identity from the three of you. You knew the musume suit was one of the more hilarious examples of plausible deniability but this is ridiculous.

"Get out of that thing, Shizuko." You say plainly.

"No!" She squeaks back. "And I'm not Shizuko, I told you that. I-I have no idea who that is." Her assertions fall flat against the three of you, and you slowly advance on her.

"Ah! Stay back, or I will be forced to use... uh..." She looks over the arm of the musume suit, "...thiiiss?" She mumbles, pressing a random button. One of the jets on her back flares up, shifting her forward enough to knock her over onto her belly. You gather around her as she pointlessly covers her face. Both you and Yuuki scan her, but you can't sense any hint of magic in her. She's not a magical girl; still just an idiot.

"What the heck are *you* doing with the Musume suit?" You ask her.

"Uh... borrowing it?"

"Not in the mood, Kikuro." Shun replies, walking around to her side and hitting some latches. The suit opens up and Shizuko pops out, clad in her school uniform. She shivers in the presence of you three.

"Calm down, we're not going to hurt you." You tell the shivering Shizuko. She settles a little bit and glances up at the three of you. You offer what bit of a smile you can, considering all you're going through right now, and hope it relieves her.

"How's the suit looking?" You ask Shun, who is currently inspecting it alongside Yuuki. Shun seems incredulous but Yuuki is more concerned.

"To put it plainly, not good. There's been some kind of structural change." He explains. "I'm not even sure how you'd do this without opening it up but there's no sign of a forced entry."

"Wait, is it actually broken?" Shizuko asks, crawling over onto her knees. Yuuki shrugs and offers her a nod.

"That's the easiest way of putting it. Sorry, I'd need to do some major work just to figure out what they did to it." He says, standing back up. Shizuko screws up her face angrily.

"That little..." She mumbles to herself as she rises to her feet. "W-Whell, you've got your suit back, I'll just be goi-HK!" Shun grabs Shizuko in a headlock before she can escape and plops her back on the ground. You cross your arms and raise an eyebrow.

"Get to know any magical girls lately?"

"I don't know..." She mutters. Shun cracks her knuckles, audibly, and Shizuko shivers. "H-Hey well, it takes one to know one, Maiden White!" She accuses you.

"H-How did you-?" You stumble back in surprise.

"Aaages ago, back when you fought with Glory. Still don't know who that is, but I should've figured you had something to do with the Maiden. Weirdos indeed..." She mutters to herself.

"Greaaat, more people who know." Shun moans, putting a hand on her forehead. "But I don't get it, what are you doing with my suit?" To that question, Shizuko is silent. You decide to spread your aura and scan her down again. There's no sign of any focus, and therefore no structures or corruption. You glance at the Musume suit.

Given her slight obsession with your crew of magical girls, you can pretty quickly assume that she was bought off by, presumably, Mai. No doubt the allure of power is a sweet one to her.

"Shizuko, how could you do this? I thought we were friends!" You ask, placing a hand on your chest.

"W-Well, some friend you are! Making me look like a fool, hiding your true identities like this." She says, trying to defend herself.

"There's a reason we don't go around telling people who we are, and your new 'friends' are exactly that reason why!" You snap at her, taking a step closer. "Whoever it was that did this, they stole Shun's suit and left her defenceless, they messed with their minds and stole their memories." You gesture to Yuuki and Shun.

"And... now they've done something to Yui. She's abandoning all the things she loves, it's like she's a different person..." You explain, your voice shaking and throat starting to phlegm up. Shizuko stares at you with a look of intense shame, her eyes slowly shaking as you tell her what's happening.

"T-They said they weren't going to hurt you. I mean, magical power in exchange for a little info, how is that not a great deal?" She mumbles. Her excuses fail to penetrate you though, and she stumbles back into regret.

"A deal made at the expense of my friends." You tell her. That... hits her pretty hard.

"Uhh, easy Makoto, I know you're upset but come on, she's still a friend. There's no need to be so harsh; a-and Shizuko, you can still make up for what you've done if you tell us who these girls are." Shun says, trying to ease the tense atmosphere.

>>
>>38550363

"Y... You think?" She asks. Shun happily nods.

"...It might help." You say, giving her some hope.

"Uhm, alright. I think there's at least three of them. They're magical girls from somewhere outside Osataka. I don't know their real names or even what their powers truly are, but they did some pretty amazing stuff. Moving things with their minds, floating, even some things I don't understand. They seemed really interested in... you. Well, Maiden White at least."

"Interested?" You ask. The thought of them being 'interested' in you is fairly disturbing.

"Your 'purification' thing, they wouldn't shut up about it. They had me constantly tailing you over the weekend to make sure you wouldn't run into them."

"The... the weekend?" Shun asks, sweating a bit.

"Yeah... that reminds me, why were you breaking into your own house?" She asks. The three of you spit and blush, averting Shizuko's gaze.

"Uhm... anyway, they contacted Yui at first, so I think they might still be holed up at her manor. But they were talking about moving to another location, so I don't know..." She continues to explain.

I have a tactical weapon in the works at the home lab, but it's not quite ready yet, and repairing the musume suit will be easier than fabricating a new one." He comments, displaying some kind of holographic mark on the suit. "I'll send it back up for repairs."

"Alright, we'll have to make do." You sigh and nod before turning to Shizuko. "Kikuro, you want to start making up for things? You'll be going in ahead of us."

"Huh!?" She squeaks.

"They have no reason to think you're not on their side so you can make sure there's no trap lying in wait. I can call Umeki, Saito, even Hana for help. If I can get the drop on them, I can purify them and obliterate their powers. The more the merrier, I guess. If we're lucky, maybe I can take all of them out in one fell swoop." You state. Yuuki nods and collects the musume into a discrete pile for collection whilst Shun scouts out the path to the manor.

"Uhm, M-Makoto." Shizuko peeps, tugging at your sleeve. You're in mood for the demure act though, so you just glare back.

"What?" You ask, annoyed. She opens her mouth to speak but glances down at the last second.

"...N-Nothing." She says, and passes you by, heading for the manor. Shun glares at you as Shizuko passes.

"Ugh, you too?" You ask, rubbing your tired eyes.

"You've been going on about people acting strange but honestly what's with you today? You're snapping at people, guilting them to do things. Where's the Makoto I know and love?" She asks, slapping your shoulder lightly.

"He's not in the mood for a lecture, Shun." You bicker back, tired of her non-combative attitude recently. The jury's still out on her mind control after all.

"I don't care if you're not 'in the mood'. I get it, Yui's important to you, but it's not just you who cares about her, alright?" She pleads, grabbing one of your hands. "And go easy on Shizuko. I would think you more than anyone else would know how painful it can be to break a friend's trust."

"That's... different. I did it to help someone else, Shizuko did it for personal gain." You insist. Shun still offers you a concerned stare, but you brush it aside. The sooner all this is over, the better you'll feel.

You and your friends stand at the threshold of the manor, peering in through the fence from the side. Hana seems to be busy right now, but you finally managed to get a response from Saito, saying he'll be on his way, and a similar call from Umeki, though you're not sure how much help she'll be here.

"So... what's the plan?" Yuuki asks.

The pattern I saw was they were able to mindcontrol Yui and have other magical girls under them, but they weren't able to do it to Shun or Yuuki who are non-magical. So I think Saito would be vulnerable to their powers more than Umeki. Also I think that makes us vulnerable.
>>
>>38551590

You can't sit here and wait for Saito and Umeki to show up; they're both probably going to take a while to get here. You're not sure if Umeki knows what modern transportation is and Saito has to build his tower of jackets if he wants to go out.

"Alright Shizuko, time to shine." You say with a smile. She glances at the manor timidly, the back at you.

"A-Alright." She gulps. You shift into Maiden White form, hoping this sensory fog will work in your favour this time, and lift everyone over the fence. You deposit Shizuko near the entrance gate whilst the rest of you sneak up to her bedroom. From a vantage point in one of the Oomura lot's many trees, you see her ring the buzzer and be let in.

"Good, they're inside." You think as she walks up the main path and enters the mansion. You rejoin Shun and Yuuki, and hop into her bedroom. The two of them marvel at the exquisite furniture and beautiful adornments hanging from the walls.

"Swanky." Shun comments, tapping at an old picture. Yuuki seems baffled at how big her closet is.

"Yeah, yeah, Yui's ridiculously rich. You can annoy her all about it once we free her." You remind the two of them as you open the door. You peer out and see a maid round the corner. "Hm, do we risk being spotted?"

I don't normally get to post - these threads run real late in my local time - but I had a thought. In the first thread (or second), the players sided with Robot over siding with Shun (then "Baseball Girl") and though Qyubey ran with it I think Robot was supposed to be the villain back then? And Qyubey just switched a few roles around and made it work. But following that logic, I think this new magical girl squad thinks Maiden is the villain for helping the invading Robo, especially since purification is basicly anti-magical girl magic.

If you take the plot and flip it round; Robo is the evil invading BBEG, makoto is the brainwashed/misguided Dark Magical Girl under his thrall (all the extra lewd doesn't help; magical girls are pure) and they're the heroic defenders of mankind, you have more or less the standard MG story right? It doesn't take much convincing to see Maiden as the bad guy even without brainwashing/memory magic.
>>
>>38551985
Kind of falls apart with the whole "brainwashing, memory wiping, taking away Yui's drive, and holing up in Yui's mansion" thing.
>>
>>38551985
I mean, sure, and you can actually make an argument that our purification powers are in fact brain washing powers without our knowledge. But then you get into conspiracy theories when you could go incognito as a maid in a rich dame's house with us instead of worrying about all that.

Maybe. I don't think we know there's brainwashing; we know there was memory blocking, but that could be for covering their tracks. A good argument that Robo is evil isn't a hard sell and Yui could've changed sides voluntarily.

>>38552052
I'm fine with FULL MEIDO AHEAD! But I just wanted to share in case that train of thought turns out to be relevant. If we go "maybe I'm acting like a bad guy" we can avoid doing things that make us (is "us" right? I don't normally get to vote) look like the bad guy and maybe make more allies? I don't know, but thought's there.

>>38552243
It's fine, I think I'm kinda cheating anyway using my Magical-girl genre-savvy instead of character knowledge. One of my GMs got mad at me once because I tried to guess his plot using stock character and story archetypes and he said I invented a better story than the one he actually had.
>>
>>38551985
even if robo is the bad guy they could have realized we are deluded by just brainwashing one of us, talking to them and then having the "pawn" go offer diplomacy or better reversing the brainwashing after telling her there side. But that's not what happened they are clearly ruining Yui's life stealing her house and altering other teammates memories. We may be misguided and helping the villain as a dupe. But we work hard to not hurt people or be the bad guy. They on the other hand use there powers to knowingly subvert other people, there is no way that Yui would let this happen willingly but we know that she will fight ebony strict s over indulgence even without our magic.

So we may both be bad guys but they are by choice we are ether good guys or foolish pawns.

"We'll need disguises to move around without being noticed." You tell the others.

"Heh, and I'm guessing some of Yui's clothing isn't going to cut it?" Shun asks, gesturing the veritable stash she has in her closet.

"No, some maid outfits ought to do." You say, peering back out into the hall. Yuuki and Shun glance at each other.

"What can I say? He has a type." She comments to him. You grumble and glance back at her, but Shun just whistles. In a gap between maids moving past, you slink outside and locate a custodian closet. Luckily it has some spare outfits inside, so the three of you get dressed up. Yuuki, unfortunately, is a little small on his, so you have to cut it down to size with your Shining Manifest power.

"You're a swiss army girl, ain'tcha?" She remarks at the new petite maid costume on Yuuki. He sits there with blushing cheeks and sighs.

"Lets get this over with so I can forget we ever did this." He grumbles. No promises there; you're going to keep this thing when you're done here. The three of you walk off, now somewhat incognito, apart from the child-sized maid, and follow after Shizuko's trail. Another maid gives your group a lingering glance, but you all smile at her.

"She's, uh, in training?" You say about Yuuki, who is really struggling to play the part of a cute little girl. The other maid shrugs and leaves you to it.

You catch a glimpse of her descending into the basement by way of the main staircase, so you follow on close behind. It leads into what you assume to be a kind of extensive wine and storage cellar. Seems the Oomura family dealt with quite a bit of exquisite trade back in the day.

"Oh, Shizuko. What brings you here?" You hear a haughty voice ask. It's not Mai's, that's to be sure. The three of you hide behind some barrels and peer into an adjoining room. Some lavish furniture has been setup in a western lounge room, something used for sipping fine wines and whiskies. There's a girl inside, auburn hair and with a pants-suit, flipping through a magazine, along with someone else sleeping on a chair nearby. That person you do recognise.

"Naoki!?" You whisper, recognising Yui's brother. He's passed out on the chair, but seems to be unharmed. Shizuko takes a few steps towards the suited girl, who swivels her chair to face her.

"What's the issue?" The woman asks. Despite her formal attire, she doesn't look much older than you. Younger, even.

"Uh, i-it's about the musume suit. I think it's broken." She responds, rubbing her arm.

"No, it should be in working order. Just spend some more time figuring it out." She responds back without missing a beat. "Still keeping an eye on Kiryoka? You know how dangerous he is." Shizuko glances your way and notices the three of you behind the dividing wall. She quickly turns back to the woman.

"Uh, y-yeah, he's at the competition at school, right?" Shizuko asks. The woman flicks her eyes up at Shizuko, and she gulps.

"I certainly hope so. Mai's putting a lot on the line by getting that close to him. Stupid in my opinion," she pulls off her glasses and wipes them down with a delicate cloth, "Honestly I don't know why we're bothering with this charade. If Mai wants accolades there are safer avenues than taking down a monster like Maiden White." She places the glasses back on her face and looks at Shizuko.

"I really hate black pepper sometimes." She sighs, flicking the magazine in her lap. That's... a really weird thing to say.

You're getting a lot of good information here, it'd be idiotic to waste this chance to learn more. You also extend your aura to observe her. She seems similar to the girl you pursued in the rain, but still distinct. You'd also wager she has more than a few structures and corruption inside, but without getting closer you wouldn't be able to tell for sure. You settle in as she continues.

"Would it have been so hard to simply strike when he was alone? Even Sombre alone could manage that; she handled the rest of his cronies like that. But nooo; she has to have her little magical girl début moment with the Maiden. Such drama..." She sighs angrily for a moment.

But then, she smiles. "But... I guess I do like that about her." The woman then seems to remember Shizuko is standing right there, and she coughs.

"What's the matter? You're shaking." She comments, lifting her head from her hand. Shizuko flinches.

"I, uh, I'm just frazzled from trying to get that thing to work." She chuckles. The woman glances away for a second and tapes her fingernails together.

"...Fine, come here." She mutters, uttering her forward whilst looking incredibly annoyed. Shizuko steps forward, hesitantly. Once within arms reach, the woman seems to a 180 in personality and smiles incredibly warmly. One hand goes to Shizuko's head and the other pulls her close to her breast.

"I'm sorry we gave you something bad. I promise I'll have a look at it when I can, m'kay? Who's the greatest little spy in the world? Who's going to help us defeat the bad girl? You aaare~!" She asks in an almost sickly sweet tone, like a doting mother. Not that it isn't working, you're even buying into it a bit. Shizuko smiles as the woman comforts her with a heavenly smile. After a few minutes she releases Shizuko and slumps back into her chair, opting for a grimace again.

"Oi, so tiring..." She mumbles, massaging her temples. Is she bipolar or something?

[1/2]
>>
>>38553185

She jostles around slightly and checks something in her pocket, regards it for a moment, then stands up and puts her magazine aside. She grants Naoki a lingering glance and frowns.

"Dammit Sombre, you should have refreshed him sooner..." She mutters, slipping something into her pocket.

"Shizuko, come with me. This concerns you too." She says, the clacking of her heels echoing in the cellar as Shizuko follows from behind. The two leave the basement and start to ascend the stairs to the main hallway, leaving you there.

"Well that just raised further questions." Shun grumbles, popping out from behind a casket of wine. You're still reeling from being called a 'monster'. Yuuki also looks concerned.

"Pepper?" You hear him mumble before he glances back at Naoki. "Uh, Makoto, what should we do? They could be getting away but should we really leave Naoki here?"

Right now that woman is unprepared and without allies, so this should be a no-brainer. But, you can't in good conscious leave Naoki here to whatever fate might befall him in your absence.

"But the girl-" You mutter, taking a step towards the staircase. Shizuko might be in danger too, though you can't be certain...

"Makoto, come on, we need to help him!" Shun urges you. Your nails grip the bannister.

"...Yeah, helping people. I can't lose sight of that." You tell yourself. Knowing these girls have gotten to Yui somehow has put you on the warpath of a one-track mind. The very same thing you tried to free Glory from...

"Good to have you back with us. Let's take him back to your place." Shun says with a smile, placing a hand on your shoulder. It's more comfort than she knows. The three of you walk over to Naoki. His eyes are glazed over, but not filled with the static of a corrupted magical girl. It looks like some kind of sleep or trance is afflicting him.

"I can figure out the specifics at the house, for now let's just heave." Yuuki tells you. With your magical strength, he isn't too hard to carry. As you reach the foyer, you offer a quick glance around for the woman and Shizuko, but both of them have disappeared. You can't help but feel a pang of guilt for it; you did send her in there. But you'll have to settle for saving them one at a time for now. A passing maid stares at the three of you.

"Master Oomura!? I haven't seen him in days. What's wrong with him?

"He's... uh, drunk." You say, patting him on the head.

"Oh for heavens sake. Carry on." The maid sighs and nods. You did just come from the wine cellar, after all.

Once outside, you shift his weight onto your shoulders alone and head for the gate, leaping over it on the path home. The wind blows briskly through the trees as a young girl with a bear clutched in her hands watches you from the rooftop, tapping at a masculine-looking phone.

So that's the first thread for Maiden White: Deception Class! The subtitle will make more sense as things progress, though it does make a little sense right now considering the subterfuge. I got some nice themes done in this thread, especially with Makoto's more aggressive attitude mirroring some earlier issues that other characters had, like the betrayal with Hiroko and Glory's single-mindedness. Feels good, even if we did get a little bit edgy in the middle there.

Also surprised I managed to fit all three girls into this first thread, though it did turn out to be essentially a two-parter in size and plot progression. I realise a lot of people hate mind control but hopefully you'll be able to stomach where this is heading. Payoff isn't nearly as satisfying without hardship experienced to obtain it, after all. I can definitely say that the other magical girls will NOT spend the entire arc in their current states. That wouldn't be fun.

You kidnap a man's love and mind control her, you're asking for it. These girls want war, we'll make it happen.

He's very close. These girls certainly believe they're doing the right thing, almost as much as Makoto does. I mean, and this was unplanned, but consider your thought process towards the end there about attacking the woman.

Kind of eerily reminiscent...

I already have a ton of stuff written down so I'm not likely to make sweeping changes at this point. I don't mind if people guess the plot; it's actually kind of fun when I see the truth get thrown around and then swatted down (like that one off comment when Glory was introduced about it being Saito). Honestly I'll clap the people who get it right.

I really want to punch that smug bitch in the face. I say we don't give her the "debut" she wants: no speeches, no grandstanding, just purification to the face full blast.
