LAST TIME ON KAMEN RIDER SENGOKU QUEST:

Erina managed to become Solid Snake for a while, stealthing into an abandoned power station where a bunch of the Shibata gang was holding Makoto hostage - with a gun and a bunch of mooks with Sengoku Drivers, no less! However, Erina emerged as a new hero, "Kamen Rider Eden", and proceeded to free Makoto and clean house.

Now we're left with one head honcho, with a destroyed left wrist and a right hand holding a semi-automatic with shaky hands and breath, and Erina with her Sonic Arrow, in a very one-sided Mexican Standoff.

Meanwhile, Makoto escaped to find her lost Sengoku Driver and the Dragonfruit Lockseed - without those, she was effectively lost. But the complex is huge, and finding them might take some time...

'Why are you running?' you hear the Dragon ask. 'What are you running to?'

You decide, mid sprint, that now wasn't the best time for internal dialogues with alien entities, and ignore the question. You haven't got much time.

Most of the trip to this rusted out power station, you don't remember. The bastards might have knocked you out, or kept a black bag over your head. Bitches were tough, that's for sure. TOo many for you to try to take on by yourself, despite putting your best effort to fight your way out. Chloroform and bindings, it had to be.

You swear you wanted to rip the man's heart out through his chest and eat it in front of him. The man in the pinstripe thrift store suit, the Lieutenant of the mysterious head of the Shibata clan, and one of the people who led the charge on kidnapping you. Yanking you off the road with a firmly worded invitation to join the man in a car... how could you have let your guard down like that? You needed to not drink so much anymore.

But now you were free. And your gear needed to be reunited, before any more thugs showed up. Where, however, could the man have stored the gear...?

>In the car where he drove us! I should look there!
>I bet the bastard still has it, the thieving shithead. I should go back and pry it from his hands.
>How stupid could they be? They wouldn't leave it here, especially if they knew what I was capable of.

If they have mass-produced Drivers, they likely know the prototypes are genetically locked. It wouldn't make sense for him to keep it.

That bastard. Koei, or something? Is that what his mindless goons called him? Whatever the fucker's name, he's got your shit. You're sure of it. Even if he wasn't wearing your Driver - which you were sure he wasn't able to even use in the first place, due to the DNA lock on it - he's still got access to a hella powerful Lockseed...

...and Inves.

You skid to a halt, and start doubling back, leaping over fallen machines and debris. You had to stop him before he did something REALLY stupid and putting mom in further danger. She might be really strong mentally, but if that /thing/ it summons even tries to go toe to toe with her, she may not even know what to do!

It takes a mad dash, and more than a few bad rolls and faceplants, but you crash through the door behind the man. You can already tell he's got the Dragonfruit Lockseed in his... good hand?

Wait, his other hand is limp and dead. What happened?

Oh right. Mom's a fucking badass with a bow.

...that is Mom, right?

However, the two people - the fanged visor-wearing woman with the red and blue bow pointed at the Koei guy - turn to look at you, stopping the tension that's thick in the air for a split second.

You've fought much, much bigger.

"Listen, jackass. Here's what's going to happen if you open that. You're going to summon an Inves - you already know this, I bet. However, she's going to shoot your other hand clean off, then you're going to drop that son of a bitch right onto the floor. And I don't need to tell you what happens next... do I?"

He doesn't respond, trying to discern emotions between anger, fear and paranoia.

"Oh, sure, why the hell not. It's gonna run amok, and probably eat you. Right in half, I bet. Cause of all that excess mass you're carting around."

His eyebrows furrow, as he tries to decide what to do...

"You callin' me a fatass, kid?"

"Well I ain't callin' you a thin-ass, now am i? Give me back the Lockseed, and maybe you'll have a chance to live in a cell for the rest of your life."

Time slows to a crawl. You can feel your muscles and instincts kicking in even before you've had time to process everything that's going on. Your hands lash out for the Lockseed's opened shackle, scrambling to find any foothold.

The zipper between dimensions opens, agonizingly drawn out, as you can feel the vibrations of the summoned Inves' roar reverberate through the rooms and people. Everyone screws their eyes shut and clap hands over their ears, but you're too preoccupied with preventing the destruction of your most precious trinket.

You manage to slip a finger into the shackle, and successfully prevent it from reaching the ground, as you fall into a rough roll... right behind the creature that's fallen out of the portal.

The creature is... jesus. You knew your Inves was huge, but it never was THIS huge before. It took up nearly half of the space afforded, like an elephant in a family room! An actual wyvern-like Inves, with so much more detail and growth from the last time it emerged in your fight with Kaito so many weeks ago. It rests on its hind legs, burning green eyes staring down the Rider - its only possible enemy right now - as the holographic ring surrounds the two.

>BATTLE, START!<

You hear the Lockseed go. Jamming the shackle down into the Lockseed does nothing - it refuses to leave, even when the zipper back to Helheim is summoned once more.

And somehow, you know.

It was awoken by this stupid asshole.

And it wants blood.

A good punch to the solar plexus is all it takes to fell the man - he crumples to the ground effortlessly. And sure enough, in his suit pocket was the Sengoku Driver he stole.

It's burning hot... but that's exactly what you want right now.

If this bastard wasn't going to cooperate, then by god we're gonna beat the FUCK outta him until he learns that going against the Kinushimas was just, overall, a bad, bad, bad, no good, very bad idea.

"You fucked up, Koei." You proudly state, standing over his crumpled body. "You brought me exactly the thing I need to set your problems straight, and when we're done here, we're gonna root you out of our city and bring peace to the Beat Riders once more!"

"You tell 'em, sweetie!"

Speaking of drawing, I'm currently working on KR Eden's design. Yes, we've stated that lime is a mirror of lemon, but how similar do we want it? I was thinking no cape or thigh guards, since Erina is more about stealth, but what do you all think?

Make it showy, make it showy, MAKE IT SHOWY! You snap the Lockseed open once more, the adrenaline flowing through every vein and nerve. You're in the zone, and you're going to beat the SHIT outta this damn overgrown lizard.

"HEY! FUCKFACE!"

The dragon looks over its shoulder, giving you a glare that would chill even the bravest of hearts. Your grin persists further, however.

"TIME TO TACKLE A REAL DRAGON, HUH? HEN...."

>DRAGONFRUIT! LOCK ON!<

"SHIN!"

>SOIYA! DRAGONFRUIT ARMS - THE PATH OF FIRE, TO GLORY!<

You take off at a full sprint towards the Dragon, even as the armor falls from its portal directly onto your shoulders. You ROAR, as loud as your lungs can, as the gambeson flows and covers every part of your body.

You jump, as the armor unfolds.

"WE ARE THE KINUSHIMAS..." you shout.

"AND WE OVERCOME ALL ODDS..." Mom replies, picking up her bow once more and jumping to match yours.

"NO MATTER THE COST!"

"THAT IS THE KINUSHIMA WAY!"

Let's do what we do best.
>>
>>38634647
I think a short cape works fine. Not the knee-length thing Lemon gives, but something reaching the small of the back would look appropriately roguish and fit the stealth theme. Armor should be a bit less bulky than normal for Energy Lockseeds, fit closer to the body like Marika's does, emphasize freedom of movement. Helmet should have the side-domes that Lemon gives, but with a smaller angle of curvature so they're slight bumps on the side of the head rather than protruding things. The antenna should probably be removed, too. As for color, dark blue undersuit with silver highlighting in a scale pattern, similar to what Zangetsu Shin has, with green armor plating on the chest, forearms and shins.
>>
>>38634763
>"Mom, ping it from afar, I'll engage it up close!"
We've got claws, she's got a bow, it'll work great. Bonus point if we manage to do some sort of dual tech with our finishers. Like, she shoots an energy lime to us that we hit with a flaming rider kick to propel it into the dragon.

Oh, as an aside, what happened to the Kurokages that Mom was fighting? We need to bring their MP Drivers back with us as evidence for Ryoma that someone's infiltrated his labs. Are they just lying on the ground in pain right now?

Tune: DMC4 OST: The Time Has Come (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cye6HOJ36Qo)

"My roar will shake the heavens... my fury will incinerate all that stand opposed! I AM MAKOTO KINUSHIMA, ARMORED RIDER RAID... AND IT'S TIME TO BARE MY FANGS!"

You slash, a massive bout of force towards its wing, and get an AWESOME catch into its flesh. Scales and thick protection serve no resistance against your blades, and the monster howls in agony. One wing's been mostly shredded due to your power, and liquid, pearlescent and almost rainbow-colored, starts to stream out of the mutilated membranes. The dragon's howls are painful, overriding most of your senses for a moment.

But over the roars...

"I am your death knell, and I am your terror and destruction! ERINA KINUSHIMA, KAMEN RIDER EDEN! Welcome to the Garden of MADNESS!"

>LIME ENERGY SQUASH!<

Searing emerald arrows sail from the next room over, smacking the dragon straight in the face and teeth. This only serves to enrage it further, now turning its attention away from you and towards Mom.

Magenta flame seems to be gathering in its mouth, however...

>You are behind the dragon's right wing.

The dragon's not got much room to fly, but what he does have is those membranes for such purpose. Thankfully, without much in the way of protection, they serve little resistance to the swings and claws of your claw.

You leap over the dragon's back as best as you can, taking some scratches and cuts due to the Inves' rough skin, but you manage to get some massive slashes into the other (left) wing of the dragon. The screams of anger from the Inves show more than enough that you're destroying a lot of its weak points with fervor.

"Mako-chi, got a plan?" Mom calls from the room over, as the Dragon steps over the boundaries of the holographic ring form the Lockseeds and heads directly for her.

>Erina has the initiative.

>>

"We have to hit it with our finishing moves in the same place at the same time! One massive hit to kill it or drive it through the portal!"
>>
>>38635950
Is that what the goopy stuff we found was? Inves blood? Huh. I guess that would explain why we found it near Kou-chan. Normally Inves don't bleed, just spray sparks. But they explode when they're killed, so maybe cell death causes the blood spraying to detonate as soon as it hits the air. Doesn't explain why that didn't happen here or at Kou-chan's feeding ground, though. Whatever, it's pointless to speculate right now, let's eliminate the threat first.

Okay, tactics. How about this: Erina goes invisible again, gets out of its line of sight while charging a full power arrow. We harass it and keep it busy. Then when she's charged she gives us the signal and we'll hit it with a Dragonfruit Sparking. She then shoots it in the hole we open in its armor.
>>

>>38636015
>>38636213

It looks similar, but until you examine it further, there's only speculation you can make.

"Beat the everliving shit out of it!" you call excitedly to Mom, before she shoots you a glare.

"That is NO way to speak, young lady!"
"Mom, not now, there's a goddamn DRAGON still here! Can we talk about this later? Please! Look, get to a place where it can't reach you, get ready for a massive attack. If you can get one of those arrows to full power, I'll expose it for a finisher, got it?"

"Mmn! Will do my best!"

Erina touches her chestplate for a second, and as the magenta flame spills out in a torrent into the Central room, superheating and setting alight anything organic in there (which isn't much, thankfully) she is nowhere to be found. You panic for a second, not sure exactly what happened...

"To your right!"

A mote of green energy, shoulder-height, in the form of a translucent arrow, growing and growing.

All or nothing with this thing. Besides, I don't think we've ever actually used Dragonfruit Sparking and I want to see what it does. Squash is a giant fireball, Au Lait is flying around slashing things, let's see what Sparking does. I hope it's a Rider Kick.

"Get ready, mom!" you call, reaching down to the driver and hitting the lever three times. You've only done this once before, and it's been a long time since you've done this. But you figure, if we're riding the Kamen Rider hype wave, you might as well.

>DRAGONFRUIT SP-SP-SPARKING!!!<

The stutter catches you off guard, but your feet feel hot once more...Now was the time if at all!

"Haaaaa....!"

You leap high, with a spin and twist of your entire body, swinging your right foot towards the Dragon's face as hard as you can.

"SEIYAA!"

Sickening, but delightfully satisfying explosions of sound, force and sight. You could swear you knocked its jaw right out of its socket, its eyes swinging wide as its face - and body, following it - go spinning momentarily. Luminous liquid goes flying in a mist around its face, like saliva from a decked boxer. If that wasn't enough to straight out kill it, then...

"FIRING NOW. THIS IS THE END..."

"RIDER DOUBLE ASSAULT!" you shout, before the arrow sails true for its underbelly.

You're rendered deaf by the arrow's effect as it hits - making contact with the streaks of luminous liquid, and exploding massively around the dragon's body. You ride out the wave of outward force, landing close to Mom, and watching the explosion and wreckage.

He probably left while we were busy with the dragon, I doubt we'll be able to catch up to him. I would say to call the police, but Yggdrasil owns this town, it's just going to get kicked over to them anyway.

You look over to Erina and grin, before hugging her tightly. Even though she didn't see the grin behind the helmet, there was sure enough the sensation of wrapping of arms behind backs.

"That was so fucking cool, holy shit."
"Makoto."
"What? It was, we felled a Dragon together! You were awesome, and you did a finisher, and I did a Rider Kick! There was catchphrases and everything! Did you come up with that yourself prior or did you like come up with that right now? CAN I WEAR THE DRIVER?" The queries come out faster than Mom can respond, but she laughs.

"So many questions, hon. Can we save them for later, when we're out of the fire? We've still got a mystery on our hands..."

Without leaving the suit, she goes and closes up the Kurokage's drivers. All of them fade to the scruffy men you saw earlier, looking beat up as hell. Strangely enough, on none of the drivers appears to be a faceplate like there is on yours. However, they all managed to transform...

"Mako-chi?"
"Yes, mom?"
"Call Takatora Kureshima on my phone, it's in my jacket in the next room over. Let him know we're good. And that we might have to look into things... there might be a leaker or something in the company."

"On it!" you call to her... but you don't exactly see what's the point of rushing it right now. You didn't even get a chance to look around the place yet. And hell, you're still splattered with this... strange, pearlescent liquid on your suit. It's pretty uncomfortable, that's for sure.

You transform out of your Rider form, returning to normal. The rush of power dissipates a bit, leaving you feeling a little hollow at the moment, but something else fills the void.

The feeling of accomplishment. Not once did you have to call upon the Dragon himself to lend you a helping hand - could be partially because it would be nigh unexplainable and may even lead to, y'know... ostracizing, homelessness, being disowned, all that good stuff. But as well, you were assisted by your mother - in all her former glory, finally back on stage.

Nostalgia aside, you feel the liquid fall off of you in a circle on the floor. You're careful not to step on it, or let your skin touch it, but you prod it with a stick that's laying around.

The stick develops buds, then starts slowly blooming.

You toss it away in a minor panic, but as soonas it loses touch with the liquid, it stops growing. Soon enough, the blossoms wiltand falter, almost as quick as it bloomed.

This was some kind of weird bullshit, that's for sure.

Thinking little of it now, you call Yggdrasil. Takatora Kureshima's one of the speed dials.

"Hey, Takatora-san. This is Makoto."

He cannot hide the surprise in his voice as you answered. Almost like he spit out his coffee or something. Regardless, he clears his throat and continues.

"And? What was the result?" he continues.

"We made it out okay. One of the thugs, the main man who kidnapped me, had a gun. Koei Shibata, I think. Or Koei Katsuragi. I can't remember. What I do remember is, he got a hold of my Lockseed. Dragonfruit. Summoned an Inves that was nearly three times the size of any Inves Game monster summoned before. We dispatched it, though."

"We?" His voice takes on an inquisitive edge.

"Mom and I," you smoothly respond. "Mom finished the bastard off, thankfully. However, she's found somethin'. May need to get a science group of people down here. And, maybe, a lawyer or two."

"...Continue." Wariness and worry.

"The thugs had Sengoku Drivers. Mass produced, if I had to hazard a guess. All with Matsubokkuri lockseeds, all with no DNA lock. Didn't know how to use them, mind you, given they're Shibata street thugs with no kind of formal training. But possession of a gun, plus six drivers?"

"There were six? All the same?" You hear movement, like someone's getting out of a chair. Best guess would be him.

You hang up the phone, and stick it in your pocket. As you reach for your pants, you realize something that had just hit you now, after the adrenaline had worn off.

Where did that Crack lead to, if it brought over so large of an Inves that it resembled an actual DRAGON of all things? The last few times you've been in there, you've seen big ones, but nothing that complex and massive either. Plus, it breathed fire. Holy shit.

You bring your mom back her jacket, along with a metal briefcase and her cane. She finally de-transforms, and gratefully accepts the gifts... before slumping quickly. You catch her, and she gives an apologetic smile.

"I'm... uh..."
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry, mom. I swear, I was't trying to get involved with these guys. Some thugs tried to mug me for my Lockseed a couple days back, I fought them off and scared them away, and... oh fuck these are real yakuza assholes, aren't they? Like, they ain't kidding, are they?"

"What made you think they were kidding? The fact that they kidnapped you and held you at gunpoint for my gear?" she incredulously says, leaning heavily on her cane, more so than usual, before hobbling over to the metal chair you were on just prior. It doesn't seem to faze her - but you were sure it was caught in the Dragon's blast.

"I, don't know... I'm sorry mom. I just keep introducing more probl--"

Your phone goes off.

The line goes dead as you put the pieces together. You give your mom a dread look... she's giving you one back.

"...On second thought, I don't thinkw e're going to have to worry about that Koei guy for a while."

Her arms are crossed. She remains silent, disapproving. It's not a good feeling.

"I think I may have just... he'll be alright, won't he? I mean, he was a French Foreign Legionnaire, they train people pretty well, I think. Oh god, I think I just called down a blood feud by accident. Oh my god. Please don't let another person get hurt because of me and this entire bullshit."

"How were you supposed to know he'd react that way? Honey..." she says quietly, embracing you with her good arm. "Look, he's looking out for you. ANd this guy was a Rider as well, right? If he's smart, he could take down those sons of whores without so much as a scratch."

"...that was not the reaction I expected, mom."

"They literally just kidnapped you, I'm not about to try to sympathize with them for argument's sake. They're not nice people, and fuck em. They hurt you, and I still want to hurt them back. But a Kamen Rider doesn't kill humans, no matter how guilty. You and I know that."

"But I'm not a Kamen Rider..." you try to protest, before she gets in your face.

"You just performed a Rider kick, yelled catchphrases with me and everything, and not only that, but you successfully defended this town, no matter how small of a scale it was. Face it, hon, you're a Kamen Rider, not just an Armored Rider. You fight ot protect this city and its people... even if you might go a bit overzealous sometimes."

The warm, blushy feeling that it elicits is not something you're used to. But you can get used to it.

"Thanks, mom. I'll try."
"And you'll succeed, young lady."

"Yeah, I should be home tonight. Can ya let me know what y'all find, if anything?"
"Sure, but I can't promise I'll be home for dinner."

Strange conversation to have moments after destroying a dragon... but then again, these aren't really normal people, now are they.

You activate the Rose Attacker, climbing onto it with some difficulty - fuckers did a number on ya, that's for sure - and start speeding home. You shake your head and shake off the idea. Not for now, but another time. The swelling will be noticeable, but you can write that off as a reaction to something. For now, the public doesn't need to know that Beat Riders may start being physically assaulted for their Lockseeds. Especially young women such as yourself.

And now, possibly even business owners such as the Patissier, and maybe even your mother.

Jesus. You thought it was already bad with the whole alien forest threatening the peace of this town, but to throw in human enemies with what could be leaked Yggdrasil tech? Things just got a lot weirder... and more dangerous.

Once you're dressed in your work uniform, you bike over to Charmant and secure your Lockseed, stuffing it in your bag aside with your Driver and Lockseed. This time, you lock them securely in an employee locker in the back room, and take the key to the locker with you. If it gets tampered, it'll be on the cameras at least.

...However, today's awfully strange. It's slow, but there's one young man who's standing out from the crowd. Glasses, chestnut hair, and a petulant expression. He's been waiting for a while. Hasn't noticed you coming out from the back, as you put your barista apron on, but still...

Here's a small update from me guys, it's still a WIP, but thought I'd let you guys see the progress and let me know what changes, if any, I should make. Did my best to bring together the ideas put forward to me earlier.

Also! I need ideas for the emblem that goes on the chest armor. Just the crest? A simplified version of the snake-like helmet?
>>

A simplified version of the snake will do.

A Snake eating it's own tail might look good.
Maybe an Ouroboros with an stylized apple inside? Like the snake and half an apple, NERV style or something.

>>38641128
Nice, I like that a lot. The head looks just a bit too large compared to the body, though, maybe reduce it to 90% of its current size? Otherwise, looks great. As for the emblem, how about a stylized snake curled into a circle (tail biting optional, not sure if an Ouroborous really fits)?

"Hoi, Jonouchi! What brings ya around?" You try to put forward your best, most "normal" foot forward - loud, honest, boisterous. He doesn't seem /too/ annoyed at your presence, yet, but gives you a look... then a double take.

"Jesus Christ, Kinushima, it looks like you've been through a war! What happened to you?"
"It's not much. Just fought a bunch of dudes that tried to mug me. It's fine. It's fine."

Jonouchi considers the statement... and you can tell he knows you're not saying the entire truth, but judging by the slow nod of his head, the question's passed for now.

"The patissier's asked me to come for an interview. But during it, he got a call from you, I believe. He did mention your name. And then proceeded to head out in a hurry. Could swear, he danced his way out the door." He puts his hands, intertwined, on the small table and looks up at you.

"And, as it turns out, he wanted /you/ to interview me. Not any of the other people or managers, but you. No idea why. So I'd like to get this done as soon as possible, could get back to training. Or better yet, you could tell him that the interview went well and be done with it."

The fucker actually reaches into his jacket and pulls out a Mango Lockseed, as if to taunt you with it. His smirk denotes it all.

>Fuck bribes. Interview this fucker like a real honest person.
>That's a damn Mango Lockseed. I could use that. Accept it.
>Accept the bribe... but still interview him honestly.

"That's weird, I wonder why he'd have me do it? Let me check with the other staff to make sure you heard him right, then we'll get to it. I'm sure you'll do fine, though, you've always been a hardworking guy."

You pretend to not notice the Lockseed, and put one hand on the chair next to him.

"That's strange. Wonder why he'd make me do it. Let me check with the other staff to make sure you heard him right, then we'll get to it. I'm sure you'll do fine, however. You've always been a hardworking guy, and hopefully that should remain evident now as well."

The last barb is meant to be pointed - you know full well what he was trying to pull. If he tried to swing like that around the Patissier, he would get decked and out on the street faster than you could say "merci beaucoup". Rather that not happen to him, and potentially anything be used against you or Oren, than to accept the bribe of a measly lockseed. Plus, you had three of your own - more wouldn't help you during a fight, it'd only slow you down.

You go and check with the assistant manager, who indeed confirms that Oren requested you interview him. According to the manager, he says that Oren did so because he was thinking of giving you a fast track to shift leader, should this work out. Effectively a manager, but not in name.

"Seriously?" you mutter, as you sit down next to him. "Looks like it. So..."

>[Free response: how do you want to interview him? Note: knowledge about the intricacies of a pastry shop is not necessary - if you can't think of anything, general questions and lines of thought are okay.]
>>
>>38641788
Right, then, let's give him an interview. Important things to ask: Prior experience in the service industry, times he'll be available, and (since we know Oren will be disappointed if we don't ask) his astrological sign.

Alright, here's some options with based on the Ouroboros and apple ideas along with the two original ideas. These aren't the only options! If you think of something else let me know and I'll sketch it real quick. Likewise, if you guys really don't like one I'll take it out of the pool.
>>
>>38641788

Astrological sign definitely. We know how Oren is.

Has he had any baking experience, even if it's at home? What previous jobs, if any, has he had?
>>
>>38642046
God Damnit, all of them are good Lori!
>>
>>38642046
Number two and four look good.
Number three doesn't look quita as nice as the other three.

As for number one... maybe it'd look better if the snake's body was made of diamond shapes or something? I dunno, but it seems to be missing something, but otherwise it looks good.
>>
>>38642046
I think #1 looks best, that's got an elegant simplicity to it. Makes me think of the minimalist design Black and Black RX use for their emblems (which are kind of snake-y, now that I think about it), I think Erina would like that.
>>
>>38641873

As both of you are kind of new to the entire deal of being on opposite sides of the power spectrum, the interview is a lot of what sounds like grandstanding and trying to sound proper and in charge. Shame that it's such a hard charade to keep up when the woman in charge has a black eye that's not going away anytime soon and might be better covered with an eyepatch, and the interviewee looks better dressed than most of the customers here.

However, as soon as the facade of "welp I gotta act professional now" breaks down into "two people talking to each other about the general idea of a job" then it becomes a lot easier.

>Prior experience in the service industry:
"None. First job."
>Then how did you support yourself for so long?
"Loans, debt. Rich family. Y'know how it goes."
>Huh. Alright then, are you available for training in the next couple of weeks?
"As long as it doesn't cross over too hard with team practice, then yeah."
>You are aware that the Patissier is a massive hardass and if you skip out --
"Yeah, yeah, I know. He'll kick my ass, and then I'll embarass him in front of the entier Beat Riding community as recompense."

This makes you look up, more than any of the answers so far. Your eyebrow furrows.

>You're aware, Jonouchi-kun, that he fucking HATES backtalk and attitude, yes?
"..."
>Jonouchi. This is out of character even for you. What's the issue?
"The man ditched out on an interview because of you, Kinushima. Am I supposed to just pretend like everything is okay? The man might have gone to die, if what he was talking about is true. So ask me this, Kinushima - should I be hunky dory right now, or should I be concerned that I'm going to be snubbed in favor of /you/ if I work here."

It's not seething that he's doing. But the anger, barely restrained, is there on the wrinkles on his face.

>Free response.
>>
>>38642226
"I don't think so. The way Oren talks, I get the sense that he feels this way about all his employees. He protects his own. Maybe it's a leftover from his time in the military, I don't know. But I'm pretty sure his response this time was just because I was the one who happened to be in trouble. If you worked here, he'd do the same for you if you got kidnapped and held hostage by the yakuza. Shit, forget I said that last part. Point is, he's a good guy, just one that can be overcome by his passions at times. He's not trying to snub you."

May I give a suggestion for a variation of number one? Pardon the horrible quality of my drawings and complete inability to take a good photograph.

The idea is that everything to the left of the line bisecting the apple is black, with the exception of the snake's head and the apple's leaf, while everything to the right is white, except the apple which is black.

'Cause Adam and Eve ate the fruit of knowledge and lost their innocence and purity, and white is the color of Purity, so the half where the apple was eaten is all black and impure and stuff, get it?
>>
>>38642309

"Jonouchi, I think you have it twisted." you start, closing your eyes and summoning the fire inyour voice - slow, low, but present and passionate. "The man runs a tight ship, partially so tight because he deeply cares about all of his employees.

Jonouchi arches an eyebrow at the statement you tried to cover, but the general gist of what you wanted to stay stuck. When he next opens his mouth, he's a lot quieter.

"...'m sorry."
"What?"
"I'm sorry. My frustration, while aimed towards you, wouldn't solve anything like it was. Mis-aimed anger onyl serves to take out pedestrians and civiilians, and more casualties than I think either of us are willing to deal with."

Even when he was apologizing, he managed to sound like he was trying to be edgy as fuck.

"Jonouchi, drop this bullshit. I ain't got any time for this. I've got way too many responsibilities at this location alone to deal with an edgelord who's trying to sound like a tortured soul when he's been caught being a prick. Either you back the fuck down, or not only are you going to be out of a job opportunity, but a /team/."

His eyes come to meet yours, and you smirk internally. The wide eyes say it all.

"Don't fucking play with me, I have literally no time to waste right now. Customers are waiting on us, and apparently I'm in charge of front of the house. Are you done?"

"..."
"Well?"
"...Yes. Sorry. I apologize. Now can we try to get this back on track?"

The rest of the interview goes smoothly. Much better.

>Do you recommend him to Oren? Why or why not?
>>
>>38642535
Only thing I could suggest to change this is making the twists in the snake thicker, there's a lot of negative space that i think could be filled in the symbol. Either that or a bigger apple.

Otherwise, awesome.

You nod thoughtfully, looking at the notes that you've taken over the course of the interview. You can feel the Dragon pacing, bored and frustrated at this lack of actual conflict - like he wants to be let out.

Not now. Not now. Gotta stay focused.

"Alright..." you say slowly. "Jonouchi-kun?"
"Yes?"
"I'll let the Patissier know of my assessment. Ultimately, he's the owner and the one who makes the final call, but..."

You stand and start walking behind the counter. God, this was fun to tease him so much. He follows like a puppy, not crossing the border to the back... but you know how eager he is.

You turn and coyly smirk - as mucha s you can with a busted eye - and offer a hand.

"We'll definitely be in touch as soon as Oren makes a decision. Which hopefully should be fairly soon. And hopefully we'll see you soon as well."

Jonouchi's dumbfounded for a second, not sure if he's interpreting it correctly. But it hits him, as he runs out and thanks you profusely, even from the front door.

"The kid's got moxie. That's for sure." you muse out loud. "Could stand to learn a less on in humility, though. Let's hope Oren sorts him out then."

Complete with an underground armory and secret exits the Riders can use to exit with their Motorcycles.

>Don't fuck with this patissier confirmed.

As soon as the Invitto teamleader leaves, you put him out of your mind for now. The patissier, if everything is going as you expect from him, probably isn't going to come back for a while.

But fuck it, he's left you in charge (at least for a little bit). Might as well work it off.

More drawing ideas. I like it!

To add to the emblem discussion, while complicated insignias are often occurring in this particular show, I do agree with
>>38642176
in that Erina is more of an old school style Rider. So I personally see her having a simpler emblem.

Though I just noticed something. Playing off the Black RX style, if we flip the image over horizontally and tilt it a bit, maybe bring the tail up a touch to end with the apple, the half apple and the snake make a lower case 'e'... I put a flipped version in the attached image for reference (with numbers). Clearly best mom likes her Rider tributes!

ALSO, keep an eye out for a (somewhat) original quest, Oni Quest. I'll be running it as "The Lotus" on Tuesday nights - inspired by Warframe, Kamen Rider Hibiki, and other works of the sort. Check it out, the first thread is on suptg already!
