Now that your little jaunt (see: massive clusterfuck) through time is over you have nothing but conquest and bloodshed ahead of you. Even as you extract from the bowels of Abandoned Hope, the hollow planet concealing a space-time rift, the rest of the galaxy begins to feel the repercussions of your actions thus far.

Necron Crypteks, Harbingers of Eternity, rise from their tombs and begin awakening their fellows. Several prominent Farseers and Exarchs begin petitioning their Craftworlds to divert and change course. Harlequins emerge from their unknown hiding holes and begin performing a new play: one of the end of all things. Even the Orks, “dim” as they are, instinctively feel the need to Waaagh! in a new direction.

Across the Imperium, a multitude of unsanctioned psykers’ minds burst forth and unleash a torrent of Warp Horrors on their surroundings. Grey Knights, the Deathwatch, the Inquisition, and the Culexus Temple all conviene emergency sessions to begin preparing for what’s to come. Those forces stationed in Cadia start to see the telltale stirring of damnation itself from within the Eye of Terror. And among those tendrils of insidious Ether come the whispers that Abaddon himself is growing anxious.

All of this in response to what might be the largest threat to the galaxy short of Ignitrix’s supposed “Ward Effect”: You.

Maybe you should have kicked the hornet’s nest and broken the clock sooner. Now the real fun can begin.

Welcome to Khornette Quest.

If you’re a die-hard lover of canon, I suggest you turn away now. Like all things 40k, the gauntlet runs from “worshiping the printed word” to “over the top silliness.” Most of the time it’s somewhere in between. Others it swerves hard to one side and/or breaks this model entirely. You’ve been warned in advance.

Alternatively, if you’re not at all familiar with canon or want more details on something, just ask!

All rolls go against a specified characteristic in the style of Black Crusade. You’ll want to roll under the characteristic value in order to pass the check. The more degrees of success (every multiple of 10 counts as 1), the more awesome of a result. A 1 is a guaranteed success, and a 100 is a guaranteed failure.

Best of three rolls when it’s called for, with a 1 or a 100 instantly taking precedence. If multiple characteristics are being rolled for each 1d100 counts for its respective test. Any rolls prior to the call for one and those not linking said post will be ignored.

You may burn (i.e. gone forever) 10 infamy to completely reroll a check (i.e. three new 1d100). If you have above 10 infamy, you are allowed a single additional 1d100 roll for any check during a session.

I’m still a little under the weather, so please bear with me if I update slow tonight or have to run off halfway through.

Excessive meta/whining/waifu’ing/etc goes to another thread. Blatant Samefaggotry and overly lewd write-ins will be ignored.

Maybe it’s the fact this is the third instance in a very short timespan. Maybe it’s the fact you just pistol-whipped yourself. Whatever the case, you don’t let Ignitrix get all sappy on you. You’re far too irritated to properly deal with that now. As such you pull away and let out a small “hmph!”

Ignitrix raises an eyebrow at first, somewhat confused. Then her features return to normal as she sighs, “Right. We should leave.”

With a wave of her hand she conjures up the exterminatus bomb taken so long ago from Ysai Ydumee. She catches it as it materializes mid-air, then proceeds to begin arming it.

“I thought you left that with the Ravens,” you remark.

She shrugs back, hands a blur over the explosive device. “I may be stupid enough to think you can handle time travel, but I’m not so stupid as to think I’d be able to actually hide something from a Blood Raven.”

You’re not sure whether to be insulted, amused, or both. Luckily Ignitrix finishes up her work before you can dwell on it.

“Done,” she says as she sets the bomb down and dusts herself off. “That should send this station into the rift and collapse it for good. In this timeline anyways.”

You may loathe temporal mechanics with a passion but that doesn’t mean you can’t remember some of the finer points. Or so you tell yourself anyways.

“But won’t destroying the rift cause even more problems down the road?” you ask. “Or is it a matter of preventing others from using it?”

Ignitrix tilts her head to the side quizzically. “NOW you’re observant?”

After you shrug silently in reply she continues, “Yes that’s basically it. The manner in which I personally used the rift to tear a hole into the past makes it so anyone could come along and use it.”

You scratch your chin in thought. “And I suppose the Ordo Chronos’ method was less… direct?”

She nods. “Yep. They skipped across its surface rather than tunnel through it. Kind of like how the Tau get around if you’re familiar with them.”

You’re not. “I’m not.”

“Moot point anyways. What matters is that we prevent someone like Orikan from coming along and using it.”

“And Orikan is…?”

Ignitrix rolls her eyes and huffs, “A rather annoying Cryptek that has a bad habit of popping up now and again. This whole thing…” She motions around at the station at large. “And most of the Chronos technology is based on cannibalizing his work, as well as others.”

“Which, obviously, he doesn’t like.”

“Yup.”

Instinctively you crack your knuckles. “Well if he shows up I’ll just rip his stupid green, glowing skull clean of his spine. Easy.”

“You would think…” Ignitrix shakes her head as if to clear her thoughts. Then she offers up a hand and produces a small ball of glowing, blue psychic energy in her palm. “I’m going to need to do a little more portal work before we can get out of here. Do be a dear and watch for Necrons…”

You nod and start looking around in the stereotypical “I have no idea what I’m looking for but I’m on guard and should seem busy” manner. Luckily there’s plenty of things for you to pick up on. Out of the window facing the rift, you notice that the inner surface of the pseudo dyson sphere has changed. What used to be a seemingly impossibly smooth silver metal is now sporting massive lines of green, arching energy. At first you’re not entirely sure there’s any rhyme or reason to the patterns they make. But, the longer you stare, the more you realize they’re forming a sort of circuit grid.

“Uh… Ignitrix?” you pipe up.

“What? Kind of busy here…”

“When you said the Ordo committed tech heresy, how far did they go?”

You hear a huff. “What do you mean?”

“Like how much of the original Necron technology was left intact?”

“In this timeline? Probably about 45% of it. Why?”

“Bit of a lightshow outside, that’s all.”

“Keep an eye on it. We should be out of here before it’s a problem.”

Of course, the moment she says that you realize the grid from before seems to be channeling energy into a single spot. It grows brighter and brighter, pulsating with an artificial green hue. Then all it once it “pops,” sending sparks cascading along the sphere’s interior. At first you’re ready to write it off as a technological malfunction, but then you notice a mass of living metal is beginning to phase into existence across from Ignitrix and you.

From your instinctual knowledge about Necrons you know that trying to attack them while they phase in is generally less than fruitful. So instead you wait until the very moment the living metal takes a definite shape to leap forward and strike. As you hurtle through the air, you realize that you’re about to hit a Cryptek. Or so you guess based on the strange ring it has about its face and the Aeonstave it’s wielding.

Neither of those things matter though. You hit it all the same: square in the face where its nose would be if it had one. The harsh sound of daemon flesh against metal is quickly followed by an even more satisfying one of metal crashing into metal. It’s probably a good thing you scoured the bookshelves earlier - there’s not much left of them now.

In the extremely miniscule amount of time it takes you to begin moving towards your fallen prey the Necron already begins picking itself up. It also begins to say in a rather insolent and mocking tone, “Ignitrix… Did you really think I wouldn’t have learned by now…?”

You don’t even wait for Ignitrix to reply before closing the distance and pummeling the Cryptek into the wall. By the time you pull back to assess the damage you’ve more or less embedded the living metal construct into the actual metal itself. Such a barrage would kill most mortals, but it seems Necrons are a tad more resilient. It’s already pulling itself back together.

Just as you raise your claws and prepare to tear into it the Cryptek again, a hand reaches out and grabs your wrist. You whirl, ready to face a new assailant, only to see Ignitrix.

“Leave him,” she says. “He’s just try to buy time for his pylons to activate and for the rest of his little helpers to phase in.”

A garbled string of something like radio static emits from the reforming Necron head. You’re guessing it’s a taunt of sorts. Ignitrix just rolls her eyes once more in response.

“Yeah yeah, Orikan. I get it. You sequestered yourself into the very living metal used to make up this sphere. Because that TOTALLY worked for you the last twenty-two times you’ve tried it. And that I’ll ‘rue the day’ blah blah blah...” She huffs in a haughty sort of way then adds to you, “Let’s go. The portal I just made is highly unstable. We’ll be lucky to end up on the right ship.”

“As you wish,” you reply. Before you turn and follow her proper, though, you give the broken Necron the look of death. The look that communicates the fact that if he ever crosses your path again you’ll tear him into so many pieces that not even a tomb complex will be able to save him. You’re not sure if he actually understands that, judging by the fact his eye sockets are still flickering, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

Shortly thereafter you trail behind Ignitrix to her new portal. Unlike her usual ones, the edges are much more frayed and volatile. It also appears to be shrinking. Good thing you’re not sticking around, right?

Duh.

Moments later both you and Ignitrix emerge into a rather posh-looking bedroom of sorts. A shriek emits from somewhere to your left, causing you to whirl. There you see, to no surprise, a certain Rogue Trader with a lady friend.

“Ignitrix! Cinder!” he shouts as he scrambles to cover himself. “I… I wasn’t expecting compan--”

Luckily for your mood and for his health Ignitrix beats you to the punch. “Just hide that pathetic looking thing you call a dick and get us a shuttle over to the Engine.”

Lucius gulps and fumbles for a microbead on his nightstand, “Aye aye, ma’am.”

As for the Lady of Change, she turns to you and begins pulling you towards the door. “Come on, no sense sticking around here.”

In short order the two of you are back on your flagship. The entire time your bird companion has been rather silent and her gaze distant. If you had to guess, she’s probably been doing something fate and/or time related. It’s not until you literally walk her to her quarters that she snaps out of her trance.

“Ah…” She rubs the back of her head and looks up at you. “Got a bit carried away there. I had to check a lot of lines there to be sure. Sorry.”

There's my usual crowd. Clearly you all lurk until it's headpat time. I kid. Mostly.

So yeah, [3] it is it seems. I'll flip a coin to see if Cinder headpats since I'm in a good mood.
>>
>>38661881

Partly out of habit and partly to show her you understand, you reach out and give her a quick headpat. The resulting squeak isn’t nearly as pronounced as you remember but it still brings you a smile.

“I take it we should get everyone together for an announcement then?” you ask.

She nods. “That’d probably be for the best, yeah. It’ll save us both time having to track them each down individually and have the same discussion over and over.”

“No argument here.”

Close to an hour later you’ve finally corralled everyone into a large briefing room. Sytili, Kaysis, Con’ree, Alia, and Acerea all sit with you and Ignitrix at the table proper. Meanwhile a disgruntled Wormbag, a fidgeting Lazerus, a silent Tigerius, and a nervous Lucius sit in the wings.

Ignitrix is the first to speak, “Soo…. now that you’re all here… I have good news and bad news…”

Con’ree raises a hand. “Ish thish about the bugsh I accidently shquashed earlier?”

Sytili sighs, “Mossssst definitely not. But you and I DO need to talk about that…”

The Lady of Change continues on, nonplussed, “Indeed. Anyways, let’s start with the bad news…”

From there she launches into an explanation of what’s happened as a result of using the rift to travel in time. Apparently it has far-reaching consequences, touching many mortal lives and what not See the OP. Relevant to all those present, though, are the individual actors Ignitrix specifically brings up.

“I think the most important or ‘prominent’ entity we need to worry about is the Inquisition itself, if at all. They’ve found out about Fervious and Oashadus. As such, Caidin’s put out a sector-wide recall for any and all Inquisitors who might have knowledge of what happened. Since it bears Senior Astropath Xiao’s coding I can only assume it’s also been relayed to the rest of the Imperium as well.”

Your favorite Tyranid replies, “Ssssso they’re trying to gather information. How doessss that concern ussss?”

Ignitrix sighs softly, “Because they also mention that ‘Lady Cinder and Lady Soph’ are to immediately report to the Tricorn or face Excommunicate Traitoris.”

It ended up resulting in heretics acting like loyalists and loyalists committing heresy to fight the heretics... It also turned out to be a Chaos plot inside of an Inquisition plot inside of a Tzeetchen plot inside of a Slaaneshi plot.

You clear your throat before speaking, bringing all eyes to you. “Clearly,” you begin, “we should go and say hello. In person. Just to drive the point home how incompetent they are.”

Eight blank stares is the result. The only ones who doesn’t look at you like you’re crazy are Con’ree and Sytili.

“What?” you ask.

Ignitrix speaks slowly, like one might to a child, “You want to just walk into the Tricorn, one of the most heavily guarded and garrisoned spots in the sector, and do… what exactly?”

“Well point out the fact they’re all heretics, for one. You’ve got dirt on the Lord Inquisitor himself, yeah? Doesn’t labeling him a heretic cause the whole thing to come tumbling down”

Alia cracks a smile at that. It’s brief and fleeting but you caught it. Acerea and Kaysis also nod approvingly. Ignitrix continues on regardless, “That might be true on some level. But you still aren’t getting what I’m saying. One does not simply walk into the Tricorn.”

Lucius squeaks from somewhere in the back, “Y-You did…”

Ignitrix glares daggers at him, causing him to recoil in his seat. “That may also be true. But I cannot disguise a literal Bloodthirster the size of a Centurion as a maid.”

The Plaguebearer giggles softly at that. “Oh I don’t know… Cinder might look good in lace~”

You shake your head at that. “Let’s table that thought for never. You were saying, Iggy?”

“I was saying that you’re basically WANTING to walk into a trap. Even if you handled all of the Inquisitorial troops, including who knows how many Space Marines, Grey or otherwise, you’d still have the dedicated starships in orbit. The moment we hit that local space we’re going to be surrounded.”

Con’ree laughs heartily, “Sho it shall be a good fight! I shee nothing wrong with that!”

“Indeed,” adds Sytili. “Plussss if we cut off the head early the body will wither.”

(cont)
>>
>>38663387

Ignitrix brings two fingers up to rub her temples, eyes closed. “Let’s… Let’s just get through what else I have to say before we make any real decisions here. Okay?”

You shrug and sit back in your chair once more. The Lady of Change quickly rattles off a number of other potential problems or allies, including:

An Exarch Kaysis used to know and his Craftworld changing course. Kaysis only ever met the Eldar once but she recalls that he was fervently anti-daemon.

An Ork Warlord who’s diverted his Waaagh towards the Calixis Sector. Con’ree laughs and says it’s only a matter of proving who’s got the biggest shquigg. Lucius shifts uncomfortably at this.

Helldrool’s current location in the Eye of Terror. It seems he’s taken the opportunity to begin putting the band back together.

The redeployment of some Culexus agents to key points in the Sector. Based on their locations, you’re guessing that any future Imperial Worlds will have a quick response to any hints of Chaos.

Necrons under the advisement of Orikan. Ignitrix isn’t sure how effective he’ll be exactly, since the Deathwatch are already moving to put a stop to the tomb worlds awakened by the use of the rift.

In all, you’ve got a myriad of opportunities ahead of you. You just need to pick one to start with.

Hell, its pretty damn clear were heretics, but if we can make everyone else seem like they are worse heretics than us it'll all balance out, right? Hell, lets accuse the god emperor himself of heresy!

Also if we got those orks on our side we'd have one of the nastiest possible armies, and by cutting gork and mork out of it we'd effectively inflict the ultimate harm to the galaxy. (Also make our friend Khorne very very happy), and uncle nurgle could probably do some really nasty shit with a species that literally reproduces via orc spores.

You ask if anyone has any paper. After receiving a nice stack of it you then pass it off to Ignitrix with a smile. “I figure you should be the one to actually write it.”

She looks at you incredulously but otherwise acquiesces. “I suppose since I’m the one who’s going to have to send it, that makes sense. How would you like to begin?”

Now that you’re not sure about. It’d be easy just to say “NO, YOU’RE THE HERETIC,” but that’s not likely to gain any traction. You have to somehow convince or terrorize the recipients into thinking your reach is farther than it is, all while giving such claims credibility. You’re sure Ignitrix can make her memories of her encounter with the Lord Inquisitor seem official somehow, but you still need words before getting to that point.

Kaysis and Sytili offer the first suggestion towards this endeavour:

“Sssstart with your sssstory.”

“Yes… It was a nice one… even for a daemon…”

Wormbag grumbles from the back, “Still a load of Flesh Hound shit if you ask me.”

Con’ree and Acerea offer another:

“It doeshn’t mattah who you are, lass. What mattahs is you’re declaring a Waaagh againsht the entire galaxy.”

“People do gravitate towards such bastions of strength. Just look at all of us~”

Lucius mumbles, “Don’t say anything Lucius. You enjoy living…”

Finally, Alia puts forth:

“Just start with how Caidin’s a traitor. If there is as much proof as I know there is then they will have to listen to you out of morbid curiosity. And that is what shall lead them towards fear, and thus towards Chaos.”

Ignitrix nods thoughtfully at her but doesn’t openly agree. Instead, the bird remarks, “It’s up to you, Warmistress, how do you want to play it?”

Fool. My legend dates back to the Thirty-ninth millennium you see. It began on a midsummers day with the sun blazing overhead. No, wait. It was a blustery Autumn day. I was a freshly spawned daemon back when it all started. Which was in the winter as I recall. I remember the tough crowd, all the blood dragons I fought that summer. Yes. >>
>>38664022
> [3] Establish why the Inquisition is a lie
They are unable to actually stop demons of any kind, (example, there were no fewer than four slaneshi demons at that gala, two of them were revealed as an example)

They hired a fucking lady of change as an inquisitor, despite all of the inconsistencies in her story, and the fact that she literally drove a psyker insane with her story.

The inquisitors incompetence resulted in a whole entire soritas water world being corrupted, not that they were well off anyway because there was a whole ork insurgency they were unaware of until they popped up and attempted to steal ancient artifacts.

A khorne demon who literally ripped her inquisitorial rosette off of a body was accepted almost universally as legitimate, and was even honored for her service... she never disguised herself...

I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on Holy Terra, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me through an astropath? Think again, fucker. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. The fact that she was literally registering as a blank despite the fact that she clearly was not a blank (blanks are usually identifiable due to the fact that demons literally can't be near them without feeling unpleasant, and warp disguises probably wouldn't hold up, plus a psyker was driven insane by our minds normalicy, were we a blank we shouldn't have easily been readable...

The fact that all of those demons were revealed was a demonstration of only a few of the demons in that room.

The inquisition interviewed a demon and managed to miss the fact she was a demon, accepting a reference for an inquisitor that, along with not being fucking registered as an actual inquisitor holy shit what the hell, was also commended for her service as her right hand demon was promoted...

This incompetence caused at least two planets to be corrupted, exposed a whole group of repentia and psykers to corruption, and was even further underlined by the orks that were hiding under the nose of all those soritas up until they raided a holy shrine. A feudal world was also lost to a blatant demon of khorne.

I can say I got the point across and thats pretty much it
>>
>>38664022

“Hmm… Let’s start off with Alia’s suggestion. You can sell how corrupted Cadin is, right Ignitrix?”

The Lady of Change taps her chin in thought with a quill she’s somehow produced when you weren’t looking. “Easily. I just need to figure out how best to encode such information that won’t cause the astropaths relaying it to explode into giblets. It has to be done carefully enough that they’ll pick it up in the first place but be powerful and daemonic enough that the intent and content cannot be mistaken.”

Everyone just sort of nods at this. In a way it makes you kind of wish Ignitrix had someone on her level to talk with more often. Something to think about later, you suppose. For now, she jots down a page and a half worth of notes before looking back up at you.

“Alright, what then? Warmistress Cinder is coming to cleanse the Galaxy of Heretics or to bring the order that comes with Chaos?”

To be fair we DID roll an abnormal amount of 1s that session. But I don't think we registered as blank, only as super super normal. It was more the shock of the fact the psyker's definition of normal wasn't legit. To him, anyways.

As for the daemons we revealed and avoiding notice ourselves, that I just chalk up to Inquisitorial stupidity. A powerful enough daemon could disguise themselves as anyone and get away with it. There's a reason Ordo Hereticus is so overworked. Sooo many leads and possible "is that motherfucker a heretic" situations.

Greetings denizens of the galaxy, be ye man, woman, fungus thing, poncy knife ears, metal monsters, flesh eating swarms, naive blue thing, sadistic knife ears, post human warrior or daemon. I am speaking today to you because I have a dream! Of a galaxy drowned in blood through glorious combat between honorable combatants. Of a galaxy where daemons and mortals can fight and die with each other both as allies and enemies! I have a dream where a warrior can be judged by the amount of skulls they've taken rather than the makeup of their genes or metal bits or warpflesh.

As of now, I am starting the biggest war there has ever been and ever will be. I speak to you suicidal Guardsman looking for purpose, and you ork boy who's never fit in, and you daemon who never gets its chance. I speak to the outcasts of the galaxy and the warp. It's time to show those who abuse you, who cast you aside, who really is best. Join the second Great Crusade today! I promise you war, war like you've never seen! Pure and exultant in its glory, free from politicking and asking why. Why? Because we want to! Because we can! We do this not because it is easy, but because it is hard! Galaxy, join me today for the greatest ride of your life, of anyone's life! I'll take anyone who applies! This is the common entities crusade, free from any ulterior motives.

This is War mistress Cinder, singing off

Stay classy Milky Way

“Well obviously you have to end the message with something Khornate. But maybe not in the middle?”

Ignitrix nods, already scribbling. “Use wordplay and the usual misdirection to cause confusion and seed discord… followed by stating that we’re going to do a little purging of our own.”

You clear your throat once more to make a point. “It’s hardly a ‘little’ purge.”

“Perhapssss ramp up the Khornate angle assss the messssage goesss on?”

“Oh… yeah that could work…” mutters Ignitrix, still writing furiously.

“You might as well go back to the Warp and start punting Brass Heralds at planets then,” comments Wormbag.

“Ahh, the old shoutahs approach,” replies Con’ree. “It ushed to be a favorite of mine…”

It’s at this point that Alia bursts out laughing, causing everyone to stop what they’re doing to look at her. She doesn’t notice until she goes to wipe her eyes. “S-Sorry. I just imagined how my old Cannoness might react to hearing all this. She’d literally blow a power pack and start shooting up the nearest Inquisitorial holding.”

“...and make sure to tease the Sororitas,” finishes Ignitrix with a flourish. “Alright. I think I’ve got the gist of it for now. I’ll write it up and send it out with the rift implosion.”

You stare at her, confused. “Didn’t the exterminatus bomb detonate hours ago? As soon as we left, in fact?”

She nods. “Yup. But you know how it is with me. Time and all that.”

You throw up your hands in mock exasperation, garnering you a laugh from all present. Once they’ve settled down, you wonder aloud, “Alright so… I’m thinking we should first go deal with…”

Right now Sytili has a very low level link to her little assemblage of bioships that are slowly making their way towards the Expanse already. She has control over them from a macro perspective but not a micro one. In order for her to do that she needs to be in the same system. Also at some point they CAN grow to a point where the Shadow in the Warp will start to fuck with you, even with her adaptations.

Did that answer your question?
>>
step one is to get sytili to ascend to norn-queen
step two is to attain bio-titans
step three SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
>>
>>38665989
A bit. I'm just hoping that they get a bit of screentime sometime in the future.
>>

>>
>>38665989
The obvious solution is to hyper-mutate the Nids so that the more there are the more warp storm they end up projecting.

No more shadow, they will become a burning sun of the warp!

And then I got yelled at for stupid.
>>
>>38665989
how badly would shadow of the warp fuckery affect your relationship? would Sytili be like a beacon for the effect or would it have to do more with being in the swarm surrounded by so many synapse creatures?
>>
>>38666102

I mean you're not WRONG you're just kinda an asshole. It wouldn't be the Eye of Terror or a conventional rift. It'd be like a maelstrom of anti Warp? Actually that might cause the Necrons to start masturbating...

>>38666106
I'm guessing it's based on the number of Synapses
>>
>>38666154
>It'd be like a maelstrom of anti Warp

Note, that I was pushing for the exact opposite of that.

Perhaps I should have suggested turning the synapse into mini-warp-gates or something?
Who knows how that works, canon is a bit broken though, so maybe this is how we gets nids to replace Ol' Slaanesh.
>>
>>38666106
From what I read, the shadow is a byproduct of their hive ship drives. If we swap out the drives for something else, no shadow.
>>
>>38666154
systylli could get an organized system of deference in the future think of it like the nine layers of hell with her being the command point on the bottom simply server farming some thought to have her hive work then you have the hive and brood lords who have to make actual decisions and so on and so forht until you reach a thought less gestalt conciousness for the standard nid

>>
>>38666321
Well, we have alternatives to either elsewhere. We're creating the hive fleet. Whatever their shadow-causing effect is, we can just swap it out with the chaos version and suddenly, no shadow.

“I suppose this IS an excellent opportunity for Sytili’s flock to gain strength and experience,” you admit. “But I’m not so sure it’s ready to face both the Imperium AND Orks on two fronts.”

Sytili opens her mouth, then quickly closes it. It seems she may share your concern but not want to admit it. Good thing Acerea’s there to pick up the slack.

“Oh I don’t know. From what we saw on Fervious I think the little darlings would be alright. I especially liked the venom sacs I saw~”

Kaysis coughs at that. After she catches her breath she whispers, “Umm… I thought it would be a nice touch…”

You nod approvingly. “Good, good. You’re getting along better than I thought you might then. But let’s see…”

Should you divert the Normal fleet to help the Biofleet? Who knows what the Eldar would get up to while you’re gone, let alone the Necrons. If you leave them alone too long they might try doing something stupidly mortal and form an alliance. You’re pretty sure you can leave Helldrool alone the longest though, due to how Chaos in general works. He’s simply a giant bastion you can count on for a huge influx of numbers when you need it. But do you really want to go for a war of attrition?

Is correct. Right now the frequencies are contained on a band that doesn't affect you personally. But too many synapses and it goes across the whole spectrum.

Basically, starting with #26 (or relatively soon), I want to make a sector or Galactic Map of sorts like I started doing originally back with Ysai Ydumee. It'll work largely like the real Black Crusade rules, just modified for quest format.

To answer your question itself, that depends on how well they fare against what they're facing. Travel times for them ARE slower as well but they can send tendrils off to help you if need be. Plus you have the little retinue Sytili has aboard.
>>
Let's go help Con'ree get a big bunch of asteroids to throw at planets.

You flash a smile, a genuine one of praise, at Sytili and Kaysis. “I’ll trust in you all for now. Just don’t make me regret it when an Ork starts tearing at my tail.”

The two look at each other and brighten up considerably. Even Acerea as an onlooker gets those telltale stars in her eyes.

Ignitrix saves you from this, thankfully. “Soooo… that leaves the Eldar, the Necrons, and Helldrool. Left alone I’m confident I can track Orikan’s shenanigans and prevent him from doing any real damage to us. The problem is the stuff I DON’T catch.”

“Isn’t it always,” you remark.

She shrugs non-committedly. “Whatever the case, you may want to put some serious stock into meeting Helldrool. For real this time. Not a version of him in the past. He’s no Abaddon but he’s still got a lot of weight in both the Eye and the Vortex these days. If we secure his allegiance we may be able to use his conduit to traverse between the two rifts freely.”

Wait…

Lazerus figures it out first. ++The two storms are linked?++

“Of course they are. You just have to know where to actually enter the Immaterium and where to leave it in the context of the phenomena. Both ends of which, I might add, are controlled by Helldrool.”

“That…” you begin to say. “That seems like the kind of thing you should have mentioned first.”

A murmur of agreement resounds from everyone present. Ignitrix blushes, embarrassed. “I… I thought it was obvious!”

As everyone facepalms, Acerea tries to be comforting in saying, “No hun… no it wasn’t.”

So that makes things a little easier to decide then. You get Helldrool on your side, you get to go between two places normally months if not years apart in the matter of days or weeks. That’s tremendous. Going to him DOES mean you will have to ignore the Necrons and the Eldar, but you might be able to help out Sytili’s biofleet and come around the backside of the Eldar in the process.

“Well then, Ignitrix…” You turn to her and try to smile despite your frustration. “See to it that we’re put on a course for the 13th Station of Passage post-haste then.”

The Lady of Change bows her head in a mixture of shame and reverence. “Of course…”

Shifting to the group at large, you ask if anyone else has any further business. Wormbag and lazerus immediately express an interest to transfer over to the Biofleet.

“The way I see it you’re wasting my talent, you stupid red thing.”

++My skills would be more beneficial combatting the Waaagh! effect++

You can’t really think of a good reason to say no, so you agree. You’re going to pass by the Biofleet on the way out to the Screaming Vortex anyways so dropping them off won’t take but an extra day or so.

Aside from that, no one else seems to have any pressing matters to address. Tigerius and Lucius leave as a pair as soon as you dismiss everyone. The rest trickle out until it’s just you and Ignitrix alone again. When she realizes this, the Bird lets herself fall forward against the desk with a loud thump.

Let's go for a mixture of this then. I'll let you all imagine what follows so long as it's not super lewd as I'm dead tired.

We spent a lot longer in War management than I thought we would, but at maybe that's for the best. More details for the map and more direction going forward. That's always good.

I'll get back to you all on how I'll actually manage Black Crusade rules in a Quest format. Still need to work that out myself. Crunch like that can get unwieldy super quick and not be worth the effort. I may hand wave it. We'll see.

I'll be around for a little while but otherwise I'm going to go pass out.

>>
>>38669815
She's a Khornate demon, man. When your everything can be summarized by "kill anything everywhere forever"...

The Imperium has its fair share of killing, but at least it offers a modicum of structure and stability.

We're still up? Neat I guess. I won't actually advance the story anymore but I guess we can talk about Black Crusade rules if anyone would like.

The current Tome of Decay ones are a clusterfuck of bureaucracy. We'd basically be rolling like 5 different things every three posts just to see if (for example) the Daughteru Squad actually makes it to the same planet as some Orks. That will get boring very fast, I feel.

So here's what I'm thinking:

1. I'll keep the territories thing. Pretty simple way to visualize bits of the sector and provide goalposts
2. I'll keep the random map events chart. Who doesn't love a good chart?
3. Instead of getting into the super nitty gritty number crunch, I'll assign each territory and fleet three values: Health, Void Strength, and Ground Strength. The latter two will run Opposed and affect health directly based on DoS/DoF.
4. The moment a territory drops to or below 0 health, Chaos conquers it. But the moment it regains it you have to start fighting for it again. As for fleets, they remain dead if they run out of health.
4. Any event that has Cinder or another MC (Acerea, Ignitrix, Sytili) involved will gain a +10 bonus to their check. This can stack up to a maximum of +40. Special NPCs (Helldrool, Con'ree, etc) can provide a +5, stacking up to +15.

So using Daughteru Squad as an example:

> Territory A (Some backwater part of the Expanse) is held by the Orks. It has 8 health, 30 void, and 50 ground.
> Daughteru Fleet B (Tyranid Biofleet) enters the territory. It has 12 health, 45 void, and 50 ground.
> Two 1d100 are rolled for each side. The Orks get 46 and 2, while the Tyranids get 15 and 34. So the Orks lose void with 4 DoF but win ground with 3 DoS.
> Both sides lose a single point of health, play continues until either side is no more. In this case, we'll say the Tyranids win

(cont)
>>
>>38672986

> In the end, Territory A ends up getting torn apart by the Nids. All the way down to -2 health. Biofleet B isn't without loss, though. They get reduced down to 6 health.
> Biofleet B moves on after stripping A down. The new A now takes half of the leaving fleet's values. In this case that's 23 and 25. In terms of health it gets set to -5 (2 + 3, using sign to aid recognize who's in control)
> Fleet C of Orks tries to retake A. And for some reason Gork and Mork decide to grant them natural 1s. The Tyranids don't do great either, failing with 3 DoF. That leads to a grand total of something like 6+ DoS. Which is more than enough to bump A's health back to the positive range.
> A is recaptured by the Orks. The Tyranids don't like that and turn around. Rinse, repeat.

Maybe that makes sense? I'm mostly spitballing and seeing what sticks.
>>
>>38673073
Maybe instead of referring to it as health and negatives being us in control, just label it as influence that why were not pushing a planets health further into the negatives to make it stronger.
>>
Sounds good to me. Just make sure we have at least a chance for proper scouting, so we won't make avoidable mistake, like sending Daughteru Fleet against a fleet that has much bigger numbers than what the narrative would suggest.

On another note, I recommend a plan: while Daughteru Fleet handles the Orks and the Imperium, and Cinder Fleet tackles the Helldrool problem, we leave Best Bird Squad with instructions to pull the Necron and Eldar fleet on a collision course towards each other. They will inevitably engage in battle, and whatever happens, we'll benefit from it. It may sound dangerous to split our strength, but it's all about assigning the professionals to their correct tasks.
>>
>>38673215

Makes sense. That's how core BC rules handles it but it's also bogged down by upkeep type stuff. I can just cut that out entirely I suppose and make Influence be pseudo-health. It'd stay positive that way, i.e. Tyranid-owned A would have 5 health, not -5.
>>
>>38673334
Another good thing about this plan now that I think about it, is that Orikan will be forced to divert his shenanigans to the Eldar, who have their own Farseers to make it all the more difficult for him. Best Bird will be pushing her limits there, but once she succeeds, she will have an easier job, as her puppets will only be paying half as much attention to her.
>>
>>38673368
>>38673334

The problem there is that we'd split the party again. And that Ignitrix has no fleet of her own unless we give her the Raptor and the Inferno. I feel like that's a quick way for her to get cornered or trapped or dead without any way to get over to her in a hurry. AFTER Helldrool though? I'm all for fighting multiple fronts. We just can't have Best Bird halfway across the galaxy yet. Not until/unless Sytili goes full Queen morph and/or Kaysis/Acerea step up their psyker game.
>>
>>38673402
True that, we have very few ships.

Wait a minute.

She can do her shenanigans without the limitations of distance, right? She can do it while staying with us. Problem solved, right?

To be fair it's not we've gone completely fucktarded with canon. Sure we get a little silly at times (as mentioned in the 2nd post) but it's not like we're actually raping canon worse than Black Library does. But that's another argument for another time I think.

I think there's reference sheets if you go to the big G-Doc. And several people have mentioned wanting to see Cinder in lace (and coated in blood).
