These are the closing days of the 41st millennium, and they are dark days indeed.

Abbadon's 13th Black Crusade has struck a major blow against the fortress world of Cadia, the stronghold barring the heretics and warp-spawn of the Eye of Terror from the rest of the galaxy; the Necrons continue to reawaken across the galaxy, spreading death and fear wherever they appear; the Tyranid Hive Fleets are slowly, but surely, closing in on Holy Terra; the Tau Empire continues to expand, propelled onwards by the pursuit of their 'Greater Good'; the Orks have begun to band together in preparation for a united, galaxy-wide WAAGH!; and the Eldar grow more and more desperate as their numbers dwindle and their empire crumbles.

For more than a hundred centuries, the God-Emperor has sat, unmoving, upon the Golden Throne of Holy Terra, His deathless state maintained by the daily sacrifice of a thousand souls. Even in His eternal undeath, however, the Emperor's Will is made manifest in the form of the Astronomicon, which lights the way for Imperial ships as they travel through the hellish immaterium known by many as the Warp.

But the God-Emperor, it seems, is dying. The Golden Throne that sustains Him is constantly degrading, creeping ever nearer to failure, and the guiding light of His Astronomicon has begun to flicker.

System is D100 (best of three), roll-under, with highly simplistic modifiers and skill-levels. The dice won't be used an awful lot. Except for when they will be, which is, y'know, combat.

Natural 1 = Critical Success.
Natural 100= Critical Failure.
Crits override non-crits.
Critical Failures negate Critical Successes and vice versa; Critical Failures negate five Degrees of Success; Critical Successes mitigate five Degrees of Failure.

To succeed on an average, unremarkable, completely neutral-in-terms-of-everything skill test, you have to roll UNDER 40.
That is, 39 or lower.

(This system is subject to change if it turns out to be terrible)
>>
YOU are Bellatrix Curis, Battle-Sister-in-training, and, at the moment, you stand before a council of Techpriests, each of whom is more mechanical and inhuman-looking than the next.

At your side is Alirye, your eldar companion, who... seems a bit unnerved by the situation.

[ALL DISMEMBERMENT ASIDE,] buzzes the centermost adherent of the Omnissiah, whose lower body seems more like an obelisk of metal and machinery than anything else, [YOUR PERFORMANCE IN YOUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT WAS ADMIRABLE, BELLATRIX CURIS.]

[THUS,] drones another techpriest, one who has more mechadendrites than you can keep track of for long enough to count, [THIS COUNCIL WILL BE SENDING YOU ON ANOTHER OPERATION.]

You salute smartly and offer a silent prayer to the Emperor. “As you wish.”

You try not to notice the way none of the techpriests address Alirye- she /is/ an alien, after all; you're still surprised nobody has killed her yet.

Thankful, but still surprised.

Truly, this Eldar of yours must have found the Emperor's favor somehow.

“What is it you want done, then?” Alirye asks. Her tone is neutral, but you can't help but hear an icy coldness in it.

[YOUR TASK IS A SIMPLE ONE,] states yet another techpriest, [YOU SEE...]

The metal man's explanation of what he wants done is long, overly-specific, incredibly boring, and delivered in complete monotone.

Essentially, though, you're being asked to...

Apparently, there's a cult infesting a small town on... whatever the frak that continent to the south was called.

A cult which, it seems, is based largely around some ancient artifact the Mechanicus recovered (and promptly lost again) some three or four hundred years ago.

Naturally, the Techpriests asked you to purge the cult and retrieve the artifact, told you you'd be leaving in a little over an hour, advised you to arm yourselves appropriately, and ushered you out.

The plain metal doors, unusual only because of their size, slip closed behind you with that same WHOOSH, and Alirye immediately straightens up and places a hand on your shoulder.

“I am neither a diviner nor a telepath,” she whispers, “but there is more to this than we are being told. I can sense it.”

“... What do we do, then?”

She grimaces. “What else can we do but prepare ourselves? Arm yourself as if you expected the world to come down atop our heads- armed to the teeth, no less.”

It sounds like she means-

“I mean exactly that, Bella,” she says, “If what you described to me was true, even if it was only partially so, then you most definitely should be wielding a flamer.”

“... But-”

“I won't force you. You know what you're capable of better than I do, after all, and I trust your judgment. I just want you to keep the possibility in mind.”

You pause for a moment, then nod. “... Right.”

She flashes you a smile. “Good,” she says, “Let us prepare ourselves for battle, then, that the both of us might live to see the other side of this mission.”

On that note, she kisses you, then turns and heads to your shared quarters to fetch her gear. Likewise, you head to the armory, both to fetch your freshly-repaired armor and to acquire whatever weapons you might need.

You don your armor in no-time flat, the combination of practice and inhuman strength making the task laughably easy, and, soon enough, you're faced with a choice...

You offer a prayer to the Emperor, asking that he guide you, protect you, show you the path he wishes you to walk, and help you decide whether or not you should kill things with fire or not.

>BURN

I didn't really expect it to be unanimous. Huh.

Okay, writing!
>>
You stand, considering your options. It's at the peak of your uncertainty that you hear a voice- the voice of the Emperor. He whispers his message into your heart, your mind, your soul. 'Burn, my child. Engulf your enemies with your righteous fury, scour away evil, reduce the vile to cinders and the corrupt to ash. I have given you a great gift, and it is time that you used it.'

So resolved, you turn to the Engineseer. “I require a flamer,” you say. There is no hesitation in your voice. No apprehension, no doubt.

[VERY WELL,] he buzzes, [FOLLOW ME, PLEASE.]

You oblige him, and he leads you through the various shelves and racks of weapons and ammunition to where the various flame weapons are kept.

There're Heavy Flamers, Hand Flamers, and plain old regular Flamers, too.

If you took a hand flamer or two, you could wield one in your off-hand while using your boltpistol- which could certainly be useful.

On the other hand, a plain ol' flamer is a nice balance between portability and firepower, while a heavy flamer is... well, less portable and more... burn-y.

You could sling a flamer over your back and fight with your pistols, but you'd probably just have to drop a heavy flamer outright. A hand flamer could be holstered, of course, making portability a non-issue.

You reach for a flamer, and- even through your armor- your hands, from your palms to your fingertips, begin to tingle.

It's... it's a good sort of tingling. As if the weapon was a part of your body that had just... fallen asleep. Like it had always belonged- it's just that you had neglected it.

“Emperor be praised,” you breathe. After a few moments of admiration, you sling the weapon over your shoulder and take a number of the promethium canisters that serve as ammunition for flamers, stuffing them into your metaphorical purse, along with a couple Phosphor grenades, a first aid kit geared towards burn treatment, and some other assorted things.

When you're all geared up and ready, you join Alirye and Aila in the... uh... the place with the vehicles.

Aila seems to be prepping the same Chimera from before- when you ask, she explains that the cult is on the northern bit of the southern continent, and the Mechanicus is on the southern bit of the northern continent.

“... So travel time should be only a matter of hours.”

Alirye shoots you a sideways glance, then bites her lip. “... On second thought, I don't think the back of a moving armored vehicle is the best place for...” She trails off, then shakes her head. “Not the first time, at least.” She sighs.

The three of you load up into the Chimera, and, as the metal beast gets moving, you...

Mostly this vote it looks like. Dunno where the other anons went off.
>>
>>38727125
I believe the slow writing pace is leading people to not be as attentive chicken egg ya know
>>
You spend awhile trying to come up with things for the three of you to talk about- what it's like to have pointy ears, favorite weapons, schooling, what it's like to have dark hair, what mechadendrites feel like, the possibility of wearing helmets, whether or not Aila likes girls, whether or not mechadendrites would be useful in loving girls (you're desparate for conversation, okay?), why Eldar are so... human-y...

The list goes on and on.

Eventually, though, you settle on one that's... well, it's something you've been curious about.

“How old are you guys?”

Aila looks over her shoulder at you. “Twenty years. What about you?”

“I'm eighteen.” You direct your attention to Alirye, who is making a strange face. “... Alirye?”

“I'm...” She runs a hand through her long, black hair and gives you a 'You just had to ask, didn't you?' sort of look. “Let's just say that, for what I do, I'm young, and that I would generally be considered a 'young adult' amongst my people.”

You blink. “About how old would you be, then, in 'human years'?”

Her cheeks redden a bit, and it seems like she's not going to say anything; however, after some convincing and some average lifespan statistics (thanks to Aila), you get her to admit that she'd be in her mid-late twenties.

She really seems to think you'll stop liking her because she's older than you or something.

Which is absurd, really, because...

>You're into older women.
>She's still way too cute for you to think she acts 'old,' and she looks perfectly youthful!
>The fact that she's older is far from the most unusual thing about your relationship.

“Don't worry about it,” you say, “I'm sorta int-” you trail off as you realize what you're saying.

Alirye looks at you with those pretty, doleful eyes of hers, and you decide that the more romantic, touchy-feely reassurance is the one you should probably go with.

“What I'm trying to say, Alirye,” you pause as you consider how to phrase this, then continue, “is... is that I like you for you.”

“Bella...” she breathes, looking at you like... You're not even sure what she's looking at you like.

Her cheeks are flushed, her eyes are all... shiny, and the way she said your name...

Now you're blushing, too.

“Y-you're sure you don't mind?”

Oh, you're /very/ sure.

The words come out of your mouth before you realize fully what you're saying, and, though you didn't particularly wish to bring it about, the shocked look on Alirye's face is absolutely priceless.

“... Really?”

“Y-yeah...” You clear your throat. “R-really.”

She takes a few moments to process this, then grins. “...I'll bet you also like it,” she mewls as, in a blur of motion that even your heightened reflexes don't have time to react to, she goes from being seated across from you to straddling your lap, “... when I take charge, then, don't you?”

She presses herself against you (which is pretty awkward, considering both of you are armored, but, hey- Eldar are strange, it seems), brings her lips to your ear, and whispers, “Perhaps it is time I repaid you, Bellatrix Curis...”

“W-what are you-” She cuts off your protest by dragging her tongue along your ear. It's all... wet, and warm. You can hear her breathing... it's... you're not sure if it's soothing or sexy. Maybe both?

“I might be yours,” she whispers, giving a lick every few words, “but you, too, are mine.” She giggles, a sweet, melodious sound, and adds, “All mine.”

She drags her teeth along your lip as she pulls away, and, upon reaching the limit of how far your lower lip can be pulled, lazily winks, releases you, and returns to her seat.

You make a flustered and confused noise in protest, and she flashes you a predatory grin. “We can continue after we conclude our business.”

You give her your puppy eyes, and she shakes her head. “Take this time to compose yourself, Bella. The more focused you are on the task at hand, the sooner we'll be done with it. Understand?”

You can't just let her end things like that.

It takes no time at all for you to lunge across the intervening space between yourself and Alirye. By the time she's protesting, you're already upon her, pinning her in her seat, whispering things you wouldn't want the Emperor to hear into her wonderfully sensitive (and pointy!) ear.

“Bell-aaahn,” she lets out a throaty moan as you nibble gently on the tip of her ear, turning your name into what may well qualify as a pun.

She promptly wraps her limbs around you, as she did before, and, as you keep teasing her ear, her breathing grows more and more ragged, her gasps and moans become breathier and more frequent, and... you find that you're breathing heavily, too.

If you keep this up, she's gonna...

>Keep going! It's too late to stop, now!
>Show her mercy. Grant her respite.
>Rub her other ear with you fingers...! Maybe you can get her to pass out again!
>Stop with the licking and nibbling and what-not. But keep holding her.
>Something else? (Write-in!)

Okay, writing!

You make a quick decision and take her other ear between your fingertips- she inhales sharply as the cold metal of your armored hands comes into contact with her sensitive flesh, and, within moments, she's clinging to your more tightly, shaking, and writhing against you, moaning your name between gasps for air.

Soon enough, she lets out a cry of “Bellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-” and practically goes limp in your embrace.

You extract yourself from her with a kiss, and she gives you an 'I'll have my revenge' sort of look as you return to your seat.

She falls asleep shortly thereafter.

Welp.

That's twenty minutes down. Only hours to go.

Perhaps this was unwise.

Oh, well.

Sounds like prayer and meditation time to you!

And I think that's it for today! Shorter thread than usual, but I'm tired and my arm'll probably fall off or something if I don't call it here!

And that'd be unfortunate an' stuff, y'know?
