You are Reinhold Eschenwald, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

One of many issues that you're forced to deal with at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

You kind of hot a couple of sore points with Marianne during breakfast, but she was still kind enough to let you decide what the two of you will be doing today.

Best to make use of this opportunity to do what you want while you can...

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a magnificent WYVERN!
>Among lesser dragons, Wyverns are ranked third in intelligence, right behind Leviathans.
>Though they can't be domesticated outright, it is still possible to tame them if they're raised from an egg.
>The Princess considers you to be one of her dearest friends!
>But while Wyverns inspire awe in the humans who watch them take flight, they still don't count as people.

"Sylvie, Karel and Emilio were going to be hanging out in the library today,." you say, "so I was hoping that maybe we could go there?"
"Like I said before," Marianne replies, "I'm leaving our itinerary up to you today."

And so, you lead Marianne up from the basement of the castle and around the main floor until you reach your destination- one of the castle's many libraries. After holding the door open for her as any gentleman should, you follow her inside...

...and as expected, the three of them are indeed sitting over at a table close to a window, seemingly deep in a conversation about something to do with magic.

Okay. Quick poll. I'm thinking about running a quest after PGQ is over in the PGQverse. Escape and make your way back to Granache. Routes would be more limited, probably three girls and a single MC route. "Ugh, you two..." Sylvie groans. "If you're on going to say what you did then -I- will."

Well if we practice INSIDE and not outside, falling upwards won't be a problem.
>>
>>38740067
>I don't suppose there are any metal based flight spells?
There's steel wing, or whatever it's called, but it's supposed to be the slowest of them all.

Probably wouldn't even be worth tailwinding it.
>>
>>38740090
We need a spell that turns us into a goddamn harrier jet.
>>
>>38739998
>keep talking about magics

Note to self don't try and learn how to fly without supervision.
>>
>>38740126
We have all the supervision we could ever need right here with us.
>>
A large part of the problem in fast flight isn't getting up to speed but keeping the thing together while accelerating and decelerating. A steel body would make us be able to handle more abuse from spell side affects and by-affects.
>>
>>38740126
>trying new spells unsupervised
We learned that one the hard way, right guys?
>>
>>38740137
Oh god we are going to die on the last day of the quest learning to fly aren't we?
>>
Other not to self, learn to fly indoors, preferably in a room with a low, padded ceiling.
>>
>>38740162
Considering that the quest is coming to and end, why are we wasting time beginning to learn spells that we're never going to actually get the chance to use?
>>
>>38740162
I prefer to think it would be an hour of us flying around with tailwind on, spiraling around the castle totally out of control, as our current party tries to catch us and bring us back to safety.

It would end with Steel Body and them trying to dig us out of the ground.
>>

I'm not ready to call this filler yet. I'm guessing we are going to be able to formally announce our engagement today which would be a fine time to end. If we don't then yea this day was basically filler, but highly entertaining filler.

The idea of this final day is to get to do some final character stuff and closing of plot threads before the end of everything. I have you guys free reign to go wherever because of this reason.

I honestly don't get why you want to learn how to fly right NOW of all times especially since much like Tailwind it's the type of spell that takes a long period of time to even begin to get right, but again, that's up to you guys.
>>
>>38740437
I don't think many people are actually wanting to learn to fly right now. Seems more like idle chitchat to me.

seriously what plot threads are we closing off?
In past two threads we have had a few boring conversations and that's it.

"But if you practiced inside instead of outside then that wouldn't be a problem," you say.
"No, then you just risk bashing your skull against the ceiling," Marianne replies.
"Yeah, that really does hurt..." Sylvie says with a nervous chuckle. "But flying really is fun once you get the hang of it!"
"I dunno," Karel mumbles. "It definitely seems useful to know how to do but the ides of falling off the face of the planet or slamming my head on the ceiling or the ground or..."
"Worry not, Princess," a voice calls out from behind her, "I'll be sure to catch you if you happen to fall.
"BWAH!?"

True to his word, Gerhard catches Karel before she can fall out of her chair.

"Dammit man..." she grumbles. "I really wish you wouldn't do that.
"My apologies," Gerhard replies. "Perhaps you would have preferred the young Prince to have been the one to catch you instead?"

"My apologies," Gerhard replies, "I couldn't help myself. But back to the subject prior to my getting here, you were speaking of learning flight spells?"
"I guess," Sylvie replies.
"Mostly we were sharing stories about how unpleasant the learning process for such things can be," Marianne joins in.
"I see," he nods.
"Hey, are there any Metal-type flight spells?" you ask. "I think Sylvie mentioned one before..."
"Yeah, Silver Drift," she replies. "It's like, umm..." she scratches her head, "you ever been ice skating? It's kind of like skating really slowly in the air itself."

"Anyways, we should probably get going," you say as you push yourself up from your seat. "See you guys later."
"Yeah, see you," Sylvie replies with a casual wave.
"Have fun, you two," you wink at Karel. "Try not to do anything -too- embarrassing in front of Sylvie, okay?"
"Ssshut up!" Karel shouts. "HE'S the one who you oughta be saying that to!" she says while pointing at her boyfriend.
"How many times do I have to apologize for that?" Emilio groans.

Laughing to yourself, you help Marianne up from her seat and make for the exit to the library.

"...and I thought you liked it when I took the initiative..." Emilio mumbles at a volume that implies that nobody was supposed to actually hear what he said.

Moving from the library, you and the Princess take the somewhat long journey all the way up to the part of the castle where your rooms are located. Though you were kind of hoping to run into Nicolette or Melanie along the way, the only people who you passed were some maids whose names you never got the chance to remember.

"It's improper, so no," she shakes her head.

Improper?

"Well if you feel like it isn't fair then we can always stop by your room next," you say with a smirk. "Come to think of it, I've never actually been in there before."

Since you always made a point to take care of such an important loaned item, you're able to locate and retrieve Agnes's sword within seconds of entering your room. And thanks to that, you're able to return to the hallway before Marianne's even able to come up with a snide remark to say about making her wait for you.

"So you found it," Marianne nods. "That's good."
"Yup," you nod.
"...er, do you plan on carrying it with you until you see her next?" she asks.
"Well that's what the belt's for," you reply while fastening the scabbard on the side opposite your own sword.

Upon feeling that familiar weight against both of your hips, a nostalgic smile forms on your lips.

"What's the smile for?" Marianne asks.

Smiling to yourself, you grip both of the swords that are handing from your belt and draw them in unison. Starting with your own, you thrust it at in imagined foe before spinning around with a followup slash with your grandmother's sword.

"Er, what are you doing?" Marianne asks while watching you slice at the air with both blades.
"Sorry," you reply while still doing so, "couldn't help myself. This sword was Volker's," you say while holding yours, "and my grandma's is really similar in weight so, you know..."
"...oh, I see," she smiles. "Wearing both of them like makes you feel like Volker."
"Just a little bit," you reply.

And with one final pose, you sheath both swords.

"Enjoyed yourself?" Marianne asks.
"A little bit, yeah," you laugh.
"I would say that you oughtn't let Carina see you playing around like that, but knowing your family, that type of behavior would probably be encouraged..." she says with a smile of amusement.

Considering how much extra work it would be to include a "magicless Reinhold" version (literally every single fight scene will have to be rewritten, among other things), I'm going to be leaving that alone in the game version.

>Otherwise, are some scenses (Characters intro, learning magic, dancing peaches) going to be constant on each route?
As can be seen from the story maps that I've posted, the timing of character introductions can change entirely depending on what you choose to do.
The dance incident will be constant, though.
