Picking this back up now that Z&W has ended. Starting with a recap infodump so if you've never read the first two threads, this will more or less catch you up to the present. Plenty of new stuff for anyone who read the other threads as well, which can be found here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Generation%20A%20sidestoryA world closed tight in the embrace of a winter that never relents. The blanket of white embraced always by the darkest of nights, where even the stars above provide no respite. In such blackness lives your earliest memory, your birth. As with a great, tremendous roar, the ice sheet that had covered your tomb slides into a seemingly endless crevasse in the frozen below.Your eyes had opened, sluggish and uncertain. And you had seen the world. The snow, and the ice, and the flurries carried by the howling wind.Almost as if waiting for you, the last of the ice trapping your form had given way, and you had stepped out into the fresh powder. Knowing much, yet also little.Who you had been, why you were entombed here, where this even was. None of these things you knew. Lost to you even your own name.Yet without knowing why, you knew how to crew the iconic longships of your people. How to cut a man down with a blade or pummel him to death with only your fists. How to survive in this harsh and unforgiving land. And you were unmistakably strong. Your naked form a mass of hardened muscle, black hair and beard a wild mess whipping in the biting wind screaming from yet farther north.Though being a Frost, the cold itself was of little concern to you. Calmly you had began a long descent down the glacier, avoiding the shifting ice whenever it opened to swallow you whole. How long you walked, you could not say. You simply followed your gut feeling as it led you down an almost unnoticeable incline. Until at last you had met a path of ancient stones, crudely carved and many buried beneath deep drifts.
With no sun ever seen, you had continued to walk, and walk, and walk. Always in darkness, and always downward. Even your impressive body had begun to tire, stomach growling and limbs feeling spent.Though before you had lost your resolve to continue on, the first light had been seen. You had let the sun spill over your skin and relished in it. You had been sure that nothing could ever feel so good as you drank in the sight of the twin suns as they crested the mountains in the distance. It had only been a short while later that you encountered the first living things since first opening your eyes. And as you had walked toward them, down the cracked steps of gray rock, the two Frosts had lowered their weapons and knelt in awe.“Vetr!” They had exclaimed in joyous tones, each offering up his own cloak to garb you.At the small village nearby you had been quickly set upon by all manner of your people. Men raised their shields, beating at them with axes as they shouted for you. Priests had thrown their hands into the air and bellowed in prayer. Girls young and older alike had pushed at the crowd for a mere chance to reach out and touch you, giggling amongst each other each time a finger brushed across your flesh. It was there; in a smokey, ancient hall, that you had learned what it is that you were.“The son of Winter himself, reborn into mortal flesh yet again.” The priest had nodded solemnly, “Raised from one long dead.”For it was viciously enforced law that only those Frost men afflicted with winterheart be allowed to pass the stone gate and climb into the darkness of the glacier beyond. To accept their deaths and be entombed inside the ice, that they perhaps one day might be born again as Vetr, as you had been.Though many a time a more adventurous sort of Frost had snuck into the beyond, professing their intentions to close friends and the like, never again were any seen.
“Such are cursed, cast into the burning darkness, never to drink in the mighty hall of winter.” The priests had all agreed.Though in more recent times; it was confessed, seldom did Frosts journey here, Winterheart or no, as a remedy for the sickness had been found centuries ago. Now those willing to walk into the glacier, to be swallowed in its darkness, were few and infrequent. After all, the vast majority were to never re-emerge from the ice. Thus most simply sought out the cure and continued to live on their short, mortal lives. You had been the first in a vast stretch of time since the last Vetr. Some said eleven hundred years, while a bard assured you it was two thousand if not more.Even the last Vetr was only remembered in song and legend. His deeds of crushing a vast Eagle Harpy host from the great plains around Blood Run were still widely sung of.“But you can't reside in this place for long, Vetr. You must press on, to the great mountain hold of the Snowlands. You must go to the temple there, you must be seen by the King!”Thus the very next morning from your arrival, you were pressed to continue your journey. Though they had offered you a cart drawn by a team of four immense goats, you had refused, insisting on your desire to walk. They had relented, but nevertheless you were escorted by an impressive force of armed men and wagons laden with supplies to assure you traveled in the utmost comfort. While you had drank what was offered gladly, and eaten heartily, you found yourself rather uncomfortable with the veneration that men spoke to you with. You had done no great deeds, had won no battles, had earned no songs. You had simply been born from the glacier beyond. When you had expressed your frustrations, the accompanying priests had dismissed you readily. You were Vetr, and all the deeds of the past had been your own, no matter what mortal body you had emerged from the ice in.
>>38771916Good to see this back.
The warriors, however, were more willing to tone down the worship. The more you drank and joked and brawled with them, the more they came to speak to you as just another of their ranks. Though with no name of your own, you relented to accept the name and title of Vetr.If the bowing and heaping praise of the first priests had been stifling, you had found the temples inside the great mountain city of Icemark unbearable. There you were given a seat even grander than the aged King himself, who formally declared you Vetr and offered up anything you might desire, even any number of his daughters. These you had all steadfastly refused. If not because of your piousness even as the son of a god, as the priests proclaimed. Feasts and celebrations were declared to honor you, despite your attempts to call them off.In truth, you found yourself quite unable to partake in any such lavishness. For it was here you had learned the true current suffering of your people.A great winter had taken hold decades ago, and its clutches had not ever truly relented. Even as far south as great hold of Irongrip, home to Giants, ice blanketed the land. The massive lake known as The Heart, once known for its dark waters bristling with fish, was frozen still and complete. And with the war between the Scylla and Merfolk showing no signs of slowing, despite generations of Frosts being born and dying as the battles waged beneath the waves. So great was the conflict that neither side would permit any to cross the water above their vast empires. Even the fishing vessels often found themselves assailed and sunk while still in the inland sea of the Three Gates. And any that dared to venture yet further east were swiftly pulled to the depths.Fishing, long a staple of your people, was now a difficult thing entirely. As swiftly as new ships were constructed, so too were they were sunk.So it was that the people and seemingly even the land itself were starving.
What breaks in the winter had occurred were all deceptively short. Most attempts to raise a crop were met with the disaster of sudden frosts that led right back into years of snow.Even the kingdoms of Frosts joining as one had done little to slow the decay of its once vast, stretching hold.It was there, at Icemark, the largest bastion of your people, you had learned of one more desperate plan.An impressive gathering of seasoned captains aboard the fastest and stoutest of the ships remaining were to take their crews north. Not toward the once safe shores of Maiden Tear, but toward the cursed coastline of the Silence itself. A place that before this trek, only a handful of the most veteran seafarers would journey. From there, the fleet would attempt an unprecedented crossing of the farthest North that was navigable, with the hope that it would conceal the ships from the terrors lurking below.Chasing the tales of the riches in the eastern lands beyond the Wailing Sea, the expedition would learn and pillage what it could. Should the route prove possible, it very well meant the salvation of your entire race.So captains from all across the kingdom had come to offer up their expertise. Some having earned fame for victory upon the sea in numerous battles, others being hardened fishing captains that pushed the boundaries to attempt to bring a catch home. One of the captains, a wizened old man of eighty two, even boasted of sailing the expanse of sea known fittingly as the Death Water. Under whose waves was said to be the wrecks of ten thousand ships and untold drowned men. Though even coming within sight of the imposing, unknown structure called the Black Spire had garnered him little in the way of relief for the peoples of the land.
>>38772062It is back to priority 1 status.Your proclamation that you would join this journey, to whatever end it found, was met by raucous celebration despite the almost destitute nature of the kingdom. For if the Vetr himself were on the voyage, how could it result in failure? So it had been that you had set out from the great harbor of Three Gate, rowing hard though the floating ice. And to the elation of all, you had found the eastern shores so lusted after. There, upon your landing, you had yourself been taken in the high spirit. Wandering inland alone in search of prey, to bloody the great axe that was the birthright of Vetr. While you had only found a paltry force of pink creatures known fittingly as Pink Orcs, the short and bloody fight had yielded up an interesting reward. Even two assailants of unknown species, clad in brilliant armor, had proven little challenge and certainly not enough to dissuade you from your capture. For the short girl of dark skin and golden locks, her blue eyes almost glowing beneath large ears, had been most interesting indeed. You had learned she was a Desert Fox, capable of speaking a tongue you had not then found another who knew.Avael. A powerful sorceress despite her small stature and weak appearance. You had witnessed her true ability at the cost of one ship of the fleet as it succumbed to the torrent of flame. But you were of the mind that even that cost was worth the reward. Though she had proven to know little more than you concerning the entirely incomplete maps aboard the ships, you had little doubt she would prove to be a wealth of other information. So you had taken her as your prize, as you had been the first to draw blood and thus earned that right. Though as Vetr, you perhaps had the right to claim the first prize regardless.
>>38771916>Z&W has endedTime to catch up then.
A prize you would guard jealously, as you had proven when the young Lord Grangir and his small group had sought to have her for themselves. Though the old captain known as Grindstone had managed to keep bloodshed to a minimum in a way perhaps only he could. As the fleet had continued to journey south in search of wealth to be taken, you had chanced upon a terror that might have ended the entirety of the mission. A great red leviathan that had risen from beneath the waves, crimson scales glistening in the sun and eyes of pure black behind its skull of grey bone. An immense beast that even the great scorpions atop the longships could not pierce. It was then that you had shown perhaps your first act worthy of the title you bear. As in a furious rush, you had leapt from the ship and engaged the creature alone. Despite being injured in the ensuing battle, in the end you had carried the day with your great runic axe. Hacking the head clean from the monster to take as a trophy. And now, only just recovered from your wounds with the magical help of your furry little captive, you find yourself yet again in danger.“Let go of the knife. Nyaww...” The shadow hisses as the tip of a blade presses against your wrist, threatening to bite into the flesh. Despite your own fingers already wrapped about the worn bone handle of your long dagger, you stop.Without moving your head, you turn your eyes toward this new threat, still holding its own sharp edge that bites into your skin. What you are sure of in an instant, is that you've never seen one such as this before. A lithe, almost springy figure of olive skin and hair of nearly royal silver. Her slitted pupils locked against your own as she presses her knife enough to draw up a few drops of blood from your arm.Her ears, much shorter than the almost comically huge fluffy ones of Avael, are raised in alert. As her tail thrashes nervously side to side, her lips curl back in a snarl and her eyes narrow yet more.
The very garb adorning her healthy figure is enough to belay at least part of her intentions here. The chocolate brown leather armor strapped tight about her; from the knee length boots to the chestpiece perhaps tailored specifically to accent her impressive bosom, has been boiled hard to toughen it. Though there is one long knife in her right hand, you see at least half a dozen more of various sizes in sheathes and scabbards all about her.You know that in only a moment, she will slash that sharp, lethal edge through the exposed flesh of your wrist. Vetr or no, your body isn't immune to this physical world. If she gets that cut in, you'll start to bleed rapidly.Avael is watching from behind this new shadow born threat. Her big blue eyes wide in shock to match her mouth, from which a torn piece of bread falls to the wooden deck below. Though in apparent shock, the little fox is still collarless."Yolot mir felin kahir?!" The desert fox blurts, in her panic resorting back to one of the languages you don't comprehend. But this strange new creature that came from the shadows doesn't appear the least distracted.“I said drop it!” The assailant snarls, and you feel her blade quiver, knowing her next move will happen in only an instant.[ ] Test your speed against hers, spin away to come up on your feet, dagger in hand[ ] She doesn't appear strong enough to stop you directly, throw yourself at her[ ] Stay calm, relinquish your hold on the dagger, and attempt to talk this one out[ ] Try to guard your wrist with ice magic as fast as you can, while pushing away to create separation[ ] Take the cut and use that moment to strike with the dagger from your current position[ ] Other?

Slowly, ever so slowly, you uncurl your fingers and draw them slowly away from the bone hilt of the dagger. If you had thought that might make this attacker relax, you were mistaken.Though the moment that she watches your one hand is perhaps just enough time for you to act.The strange girl in leather armor shouts sharply in panic as the hand of ice latches itself firmly around her right arm. The frozen digits curling and biting hard against her exposed skin.Grunting in anger, you push your right leg hard into the bed and throw yourself off. Though the girl attempts to duck aside, you're faster than your hulking frame would at first appear.Carried by your sudden burst of momentum and the brute strength behind it, you wrap both your thick arms about her torso and drive with your legs. The cabin, though large for the ship, is easily spanned in but a few long strides. She lets out a pained cry as you slam her back into the wall, a lantern falling from its hook and a luck charm of woven elm branches joining it. But you ignore these things and press your own body against her substantially smaller one, attempting to squeeze her between you and the wall.“Dahl yir rasau!” Avael screams in what perhaps might have been warning. If you manage to come out of this fight alive, you'll have to make sure she remembers to speak words you understand in the future.
You aren't quite sure exactly what happens next, however. One moment you're pushing your bare chest against a chest that any other time, you would indeed wish to see bare. The next, you've stumbled against the wall and a few slivers of wood bite into your shoulder. And the girl has disappeared. But you can see a strange shadow as it flits across the wall to your left...[ ] Grab Avael and your weapons, get out of the cabin and to the upper deck of the ship.[ ] That shadow trick is neat, but in the cramped spaces of this interior cabin, ultimately just a trick. Awesome, finally i caught one of the threads! I Wohle suggest freezing. On another note, I botched a Reality-Check recently. Pic related
Banging a large fist against the wall in frustration, you turn about and snatch Avael by the bicep, pulling her to you roughly. She nearly trips over her own feet, but your grip is strong enough to keep her upright. At the same time, you let your magic well up and flow from you. The interior cabin goes from a rather warm, comfortable feeling, to the cold harshness of the depths of winter in almost an instant. The bathwater is frozen solid, along with what remains of the food and drink alike. Tendrils of ice creep down from the ceiling and in the light from the few candles and lanterns, the room takes on an almost bluish hue. There are still shadows all about, all of which are now still. But even through the dim lighting, you can see the puffs of breath from the far side of the room.“Now you can't hide.” You grind your teeth and clench your fist tight, feeling the spike of ice forming about it.“And you,” You add, addressing Avael without turning around, “Start speaking in a language I can understand if you don't want to survive on table scraps from now on.”“Avael tell you!” The desert fox pounds both her fists against your wide back, “All cats bad! Cats want Avael!”“I don't know how you slipped away. Actually I'm not surprised, considering who you were handed off to.” The attacker growls as her body takes shape from the darkness.“And I don't know what you are, or what you want. But if you want to live, I suggest you give that one to me and I'll be on my way.” This time she addresses you directly, and you finally recognize her tongue. A guttural and wide-spanning trade language all but universal in markets and docks alike. You've heard everything from giants to goblins speak similarly, though without the strange accent her voice carries. This time she raises both hands in front of her, each clutching a long and wicked looking hooked blade of some jet black make.
>>38773569Delicious snakebutt. Did you draw that?
“Some demands. But I don't give up my property so easily.” You bring your own fists up into a guard.“No? Fine. I prefer it the hard way.”In an instant she's upon you, slashing nimbly with each hand in turn. As quick as you are, you suddenly find yourself struggling just to block aside the blows. Each time you do, her blades leave deep nicks and gouges in your frozen makeshift weapons. You attempt to freeze her limbs in place again, but find each attempt repelled as the attacker ducks some while slashing apart others. This catches you off guard. You're quite unused to your magic being dispatched with such apparent ease.“Black blades cut magic!” Avael squeals as you nearly knock her over when you're forced to draw back to avoid a slash. The attacker finally manages to land a strike, and a line of blood opens up across your chest and left shoulder. But she's forced to jump back to avoid being impaled by the spike atop your right fist.“As you can see, you're...!” The girl's eyes open wide. You can feel the sudden blazing heat against your back, but find you're already too late to act.The jut of orange and red flame rips past you in a twisting vortex, snaking fast toward what Avael refers to as a cat. You can only watch and cringe as she manages to avoid the magic, which instead blows a massive hole through the side of the cabin, continuing on until you can see the fading light outside through the damage.Grindstone isn't going to like that...

>>38774010It keeps happening!
“Avael, no!” You crane your neck to bellow toward her, but already see the next attack formed. Her eyes again pits of burning flame as nine tails scorch the wood behind her, Avael screams wordlessly through fanged teeth as she sends forth her magic. The cat drops quickly to the floor as the blaze goes sailing past above her. This time the flames arcing upward and jutting into and through the deck above.Already you can hear panicked shouts from above as the frost crew scrambles to put out the flames threatening to spread across the wooden planks.“Hel's rotten cunt! What is going on down there?!” You recognize Grindstone's graveled voice as it roars in fury from above. You don't have more than a moment to think on that before the cat is on you yet again. This time she attacks with almost wild abandon, cuts opening across your arms as you're nearly unable to keep up with such speed. This time, however, you manage to work in a blow of your own. Though only with the side of the ice spike, it's enough to throw the attacker away with a pained cry. Tossed upward from the impact, she somehow manages to catch herself against what remains of the ceiling.Seizing the opportunity, you dash forward and scoop up your immense axe from the floor, raising it to a quick guard as you expect another sudden attack.Instead you're greeted with the sight of the girl seemingly reaching her entire right arm into what you can only describe as a black pit in front of her. She's chanting quickly, though her eyes never leave you and her body is poised to leap.
>>38774056You took it off at the end of thread 2 so she could heal you up.>>38774301I warned you about the fluffy, bro. I told you dawg.
>>38774381>You took it off at the end of thread 2 so she could heal you up.Yeah well it's getting put back on. Don't care if this ship is being attacked. Burning the ship down can not happen again.
From the blackness she draws back her body, pulling something from deep within. First you see her hand clutching a long hilt of leather wrapped ivory, then the blade attached to it. A long, curved sword, impressive in its size and also the apparently perfect edge of that same black material her daggers are made from. As she finishes drawing forth the weapon, you can't but help marvel at its size. No less impressive than your own massive axe.If you'd thought the size of that great weapon would slow her, you find that quite mistaken. As she launches herself into the air with a scream, swinging the curved blade around in a huge arc, it's all you can do to catch the strike against the head of your axe. The force of the blow sending a shock through your arms, though you do manage to stop it.Still pressing your blade against her own, you manage to kick the washtub over and spill the ice within onto the floor, which quickly freezes into a solid sheen of black ice.So you aren't quite sure how the cat manages to not only maintain her footing, but do so enough to spin into another strike that you do your best to knock aside.
You feel another burst of heat from behind you and grimace as yet another magical pillar of flames thunders toward the cat. This time she leaps back in a flip before springing off the ceiling to yet again avoid it.Seizing the opportunity of that distance, you quickly sweep Avael's legs with your left foot and the fox squeaks in surprise before flopping down hard onto the iced deck beneath.“Enough with that! You'll just burn this whole ship down!” You berate her.[ ] It's too cramped below deck. You need to get out into the open where you can take full advantage of the size of your weapon. Not to mention the rest of the crew.[ ] If you push her outside, she might manage to escape, leaving you with too many questions. Better to try to finish the fight here. While your massive axe isn't well suited to such close quarters, the assailant and her large sword are under the same constraints. If you do manage to get topside, there's a chance she'll somehow disappear and you'll never find out any more. And right now, you can't chance letting a potential wealth of information slip.Instead, you'll have to put your body on the line and try to finish her here. Though you know you're unlikely to come out unscathed. Now you don't wait for another attack to come, instead howling a wordless battlecry as you grip the long haft of the axe and charge. The girl raises her blade to block the strike, but the sheer force is enough to knock her right off her perch against the ceiling. She nevertheless spins effortlessly through the air to land against the far wall. But she apparently doesn't expect you to already be at her again. This cut she too is forced to block, and the strength behind it causes her foot to slip. You can see now the claw marks it leaves behind and realize how it is that she's managed to stay upright despite the ice.You don't relent, only increasing the fury with which you strike. Now on her back foot, she grunts in frustration and effort as each attack knocks her around again and again. Now you can see the distinct look of panic in her eyes. If she had been taking you lightly, she is realizing her folly.Unsurprisingly after being tossed back by another of your axe swings, she glances quickly to the hole leading to the sky above. With a quick jump she attempts to escape upward. But you had anticipated as much, and as she sails upward, so do you. Propelled by a sudden spike of ice from beneath, you keep pace and manage to snag her by the ankle in the open air above the deck.Alarmed shouts ring across the water as the crew watch in utter astonishment. Grindstone is bellowing in wordless fury as he moves to leap from the wheeldeck, sword in right hand and bearded axe in his left.
Though she might be fast and even stronger than she would appear, it isn't enough compared to your brutish raw power. Pulling hard as you start to fall, you swing the girl herself with both hands. As you land on the deck, she crashes hard into the wood with a grunt, losing the grip on her weapon which goes sliding off the edge of the deck only to disappear into a void similar to which she first pulled it from.As she springs up from the deck with two knives in her fists, you lash out with your own. The sudden uppercut to her stomach knocks the wind completely from her, those strange eyes bulging and her body going limp. She coughs as she crashes again to the deck, and you can tell that the last of the fight is out of her, but raise your axe on high just in case that assumption proves a mistake. The crew remain frozen, most carrying buckets of water to fight the creeping flames. It must be a bit of a bizarre sight, you naked and bloodied and an alien creature sprawled on the deck.“...Ugh...” The cat moans as she turns herself over to lie on her back. Her amber eyes belay her pain as they stare up at you.“I don't know what you are, but you're one hell of a fighter to beat me. Now go on,” She reaches up to tug down the cloth around her neck, “Do it.”With those words she closes her eyes, turning her head away and clearly expecting you to sever it without delay.[ ] Off with her head![ ] Pin her to the ground, “Someone get that magic collar up here!”[ ] Use the flat of your axe and knock her out cold.[ ] Other?

>>38775369Was capturing this catgirl a part of your plan? And swing you do.But somewhat lightly, and catching the side of her head with the flat of your axe. Just enough to make her entire form go limp as you knock her out cold.“Avael!” You shout down the hole beside you, “Bring that damnable collar up here right now!”You fall to your knees and press the long shaft of your axe against the cat's torso, right beneath those voluptuous orbs the size of your own head. Knocked out or no, you don't want to take any chances.A few moments later, Avael comes climbing up through the gaping maw in the deck, huffing as she pulls herself up, collar in one hand. When she steps up beside you, her face is that of absolute smugness.“Hah ha! Now cat get stupid metal ring! Dumb, idiot cat!” She sticks out her tongue at the passed out creature beneath you.Her jubilation proves to be quite short lived as two weathered, calloused hands grab her roughly by the ears and wrench her head back so she's forced to stare upward. Right into the snarling, glowering face of Grindstone.“What makes ya think I won't just collar the both of you? How did you even get that off?” The old captain speaks even while grinding his teeth together.“Collar too small for both?” Avael offers sheepishly.“I can MAKE you both fit it.”“Please no bully Avael...” The fox swallows loudly, trying to shrink away but unable with the grip on her ears.

We are going to have a good long talk about how you have been treating these ships.” You snatch the collar out of her fingers and raise the cat just enough to clasp it about her neck, securing the lock with a click. Despite assuming that will at least contain her magic, you don't waste time in quickly stripping her of every visible weapon you can spot. And as you reach in and feel around underneath the armor, doing your best to put the soft feeling against your fingers out of your mind, you pull out yet more hidden blades from within.“What in the damn nine worlds is that, Vetr?” Grindstone growls, finally relinquishing his hold on Avael. The foxgirl collapses to her knees, clutching at her own ears as if to make sure they are still there.Sighing loudly and letting the tension finally leave your muscles, you shake your head and suddenly feel the pain twinging from the numerous cuts across your body.“I don't know. Avael called her a cat.”“Yes! Cat! Cats evil, you see now! You should just toss her...” Avael ends with an “eep!” as Grindstone grips her head in his hand, squeezing it.“If I wanted you to talk, girl, I would have asked you.”Pushing the fox aside, Grindstone shouts for a drink and has a multitude quickly thrust in his direction. He downs several in turn before bellowing at his crew to get back to fighting the fires before the whole ship goes up.“We've only been ashore but once, and already I am tired of these magics.” Grindstone groans as he takes stock of the status of his ship. His crew will manage to save it, probably. But repairs on the seas always take a while, and will be extensive.
"And you, Vetr, you're a bit bloodied." The old captain grimaces as he sees the wounds which as more feeling returns to you, feel a bit more than superficial cuts.Putting yourself aside, you call for chains and shackles and the smith quickly helps you in binding the girl tight. Clasping both wrists behind her back and her ankles together, before binding her tight in a length of chain. You tug at the metal, hoping it will be enough to prevent her from slipping out. Finally hauling yourself to your feet, you almost stumble backwards before one of the crew catches you, standing you back upright. Now that the last of the adrenaline has flushed from your system, you realize you don't feel so great. Tired and wounded, to be sure from such a fight, but also with a building nauseousness and numbness at the tips of your fingers and toes.“You feeling alright, Vetr? You look a bit green.” The crewman who caught you winces as he sees exposed muscle through one of the cuts on your right shoulder.“Someone get him a drink!” Another of the crew shouts, and a moment later a half dozen cups are thrust in front of you.“Dumb!” Avael pushes their hands aside, “No drinks! Avael heal!”Despite her protests, you clasp one of the cups and drain it quickly.“I'll let her fix me up for now. Is this ship going to be alright, captain?” You glance over at Grindstone who is still surveying his vessel.“She'll never be the same, but I can probably keep her afloat. Go rest, Vetr, use my cabin.”
Normally you wouldn't be so keen to just leave the work to the rest of the crew. But the pain is building, along with the fatigue and the churning in your gut. So this time you let Avael do her best to keep you upright as you walk toward the stairs down into the below decks. Though if you were to suddenly collapse, you doubt she would be able to catch you.And though there are some protests from Avael and a few crew, you drag the limp form of the cat behind you.You manage to keep your feet long enough to make it to grindstone's cabin, where with a grunt you lift the cat into the air and hook one of the chains about her on a hook set in the ceiling. She hangs there, still limp, swaying only with the rocking of the longship.Grunting from the pain, you lower yourself to the floor rather than the bed. You don't want to bleed all over Grindstone's bed, no matter if he had told you to use it.Avael wastes no time as her fingers dart over your body, touching cuts lightly or tracing their outlines as she scours them. Her face frowning in concentration as she examines.“Bad this time?” You groan.“Shush. Not so bad.”You wince as her hand clasps over one of the larger cuts, but the tension in your gut quickly leaves as the warmth seeps into the skin and the pain from that wound begins to subside. With the sheer amount of cuts, you expect this to take a while. While you had contemplated closing your eyes to rest while Avael worked, a sudden stirring from the new captive in front of you keeps you awake. The cat groans in obvious pain and discomfort as she peels one eye open, lifting her head only slightly.“You weren't out very long.”“You...” She blinks slowly, struggling only lightly against the bonds, “Didn't kill me?”>talk/question/action?
>>38776484>No. I am making you mine, instead.
>>38776484No. Now who is your daddy and what does he do?
>>38776484Yeah I did. You're actually dead right now.
>>38776484"No, but if you are uncooperative then I might have second thoughts about sparring you, so start talking, who are you and why did you come here?"also >>38776506
>>38776484>No because dead cats don't give information. Of course you mess that up we'll find out just how many ways there is to skin a cat.>So lets start with something simple, who are you and why you're here. Do explain fully the latter too.
>>38776484Start talking "cat" before I decide to show you how painful frostbite can be to those not born of the cold.
>>38776484>“Please no bully Avael...”haha Just caught up, God damn I want you to do recaps for all your quests.Also>>38776575+1
“I could have. But you wouldn't have made as good a trophy. I think I'll make you mine, instead.” You grunt and clamp your teeth as Avael prods another cut.“Ah...” The girl coughs violently several times before shaking her head, keeping her eyes closed this time, “There a slave, here a slave, where does not matter. If you're trying to scare me, you'll have to do a better job than that.”“If I wanted to scare you, I'd start marking out your skin to flay you and make myself some new gloves. But I'd rather you just tell me who you are, and why you're here.” You manage to keep yourself from wincing at another poke from Avael as the fox continues to work. The suspended captive looks slowly from you to the fox girl working at healing your wounds, then back again to you.“You aren't what interests me. It's her that I was after. And as to why, a slave does not question her mistress so. But I do know that girl there is more than just some little girl.”“Rude!” Avael pipes up, “Avael not little. Avael great magic power!”“Hmm. So I was told.” The hanging girl bites her lip, clamping her eyes shut in pain.“If you're trying to act like you don't know anything, I can always beat answers out of you.” You threaten, in no mood for games.
The girl laughs but quickly begins to cough instead, eyes still closed hard.“Ah, so you could. I was sent by my mistress at the high temple by the Inie to find that girl you have there. They had taken her before and sold her or traded her off, I'm not privy to their reasoning. To find her and bring her back, this is all I know.” The lowers her head, resting her chin against her chest.“I am but a shadow, and shadows obey. That is all.” She makes no motion to raise her head again. You nearly shove Avael off of you as the fox pushes just a bit too hard at the slice on your chest, but know she's only trying to do her work.“You still haven't told me your name.”“Shadows have no names, but before I became a shadow, this one was called Khepri.”>talk/question/action?
>>38777100>How much of land do you know? Because this little one is mostly worthless in that regard. I know Aveal gave some of info but I don't recall it being very informative beyond 'big cites here and here' type of deal. I need to go back through those two threads.>Does your mistress have a name? And will she send more if you don't come back?Might want to know those two piece of info too.
>>38777100Knowledge of the land then as a "shadow" you must know enough tot rack throughout your lands. Anything on the lands and people here would make me positively disposed to feed you cat.
>>38777100>>38777221+1Ask her about the black blades and her void bags or what ever she was using. Shes prob got tools to get her self out in there. Also what she plans to do now that shes failed her mission.
>>38777100>>38777221>>38777314thesealso "Well your my shadow now, and my shadow has a name, so you do too."
>>38777314Yes to much of that. But...>Also what she plans to do now that shes failed her mission. She's doesn't have a choice in this. She's ours now. Hope she enjoys the stay and causes less fires than the other one.
>>38777394Yes but, I'm curious to how rebellious shes going to be.
“That's what I'll call you, then. Even if you don't know anything about why you're after my captive, am I wrong in thinking you know much about the lands around here?”“Oh no. I know much about these lands, their places, their peoples. A shadow must know these things or be of no worth to its master.” Khepri says easily, and these are words you're glad to hear. Avael having proven to in truth know little and less concerning your maps.Despite Avael's protests, you put your feet under you and stand. Though she's far from done, you're already feeling substantially better. The few remaining cuts are all superficial and a few more scars mean nothing to you.“You mentioned a master, a mistress. Who is this person? I think I'll have some choice words for them in the future.”At these words, Khepri laughs again, still sounding pained.“Mistress is mistress. High above the river in a pyramid of gleaming white. Her name I cannot say, I do not know such. Shadows do not need to know such. As for future, you and I we have no future.”You pause at those words, scowling.“You seem pretty sure of that.”“Oh yes, very sure. I have failed, and soon my shame will be known. More will come. Many more. And you and I will die.” Khepri doesn't sound so much sad as confident.“Don't sound so sure of that. We're a bit tougher than you think. Even that big sword of yours wasn't enough to cut me down. What was that, anyways? I've never seen a blade like that.”The hanging girl studies you with one open eye for several moments, almost curiously.“The black blades. They will cut flesh and even some magic. Summoned from the world of the dead to my hands.”“So that was how you pulled them out of thin air, eh? Leaving my doubts about that aside, whatever you were before, you're my shadow now, Khepri. And how you are treated is based on how you're going to act.” You hold up a ring of bronze and iron keys for emphasis.
The cat girl watches them dangle, her ears twitching at the sound of several clinking together softly. But she doesn't appear overly elated, not that you had expected such.“Then as your shadow, I ask that you finish from earlier. Cut hard and cut deep, and make my end quick.” She raises her head up and back, revealing her slender neck.“Kill you? Now why would I want to do that?” You frown, this conversation not going how you had anticipated in any way whatsoever.“When they find us, they will indeed kill you.” She starts, “But they will not kill me. Not quickly. First they will cut out my eyes, my tongue, my ears. Then my feet, and my hands. And finally they will peel off the skin from my bones, and scatter all of these into the desert. And there, deaf and blind and broken, I will never find my way to the afterlife. So I ask, beg, again. Please.” She pulls her head back yet more, presenting her throat.>talk/question/action?I'll be back in a few, girl is hounding me to come upstairs and eat.
>>38777910"No, I won't kill you, because if I did then you would never be able to do the same to whoever this shithead of a 'mistress' is, they are the one who deserves such treatment."go tend to your own catgirl Papa
>>38777910"I suggest you make yourself useful while you're still alive. Either we'll survive, or I'll cut your throat first when the time comes. But I don't intend to die, and I don't intend to waste your life."
>>38777910>No.I think at this point it might be best to get some rest. Map information can be done a bit later. And I really can't think of much more beyond asking where her mistress is and if it's on the coastline to make nice, possibly easy, raidable place.
>>38777910It may be that your order will kill me, but it will never be that they do so in open battle. It will be with assassin's blades and poisoner's toxins. If I continue without a shadow to watch my back, or guardian to safeguard my body, my death and your death is certain. But if you serve me, and keep vigil for the plotting and treachery of your order, we will defeat your comrades, and we will find your masters. Then, we shall nail their limbs to the ground. We shall flense the skin from their currish spines, and shatter their cowardly backs. And finally, we shall pull their lungs from their gaping wounds, and send them to the afterlife as blood angels, with wings of flesh, so that they may not even the the strength to scream their misery to their gods.
>>38777910"How long will it take them to realize you have failed? How long will it take them to get here after finding out? How many of them will there be? Will they all be shadows like you?We can use her afterlife as a bargaining chip, now that we know what she wants. "If you serve me well then I will survive their attack, and I can kill you quickly then. If you do not serve me well then I will die and you will never find the afterlife."
>>38778163>>38777910That's fucking metal. Egyptian cat expys got nothing on the blood eagle. Supporting.
>>38778163fucking hell thats metal and viking as fuck, we should use this
Khepri must be expecting you to grant her that last wish, as you draw closer. She closes her eyes and remains still. Right up until you place a hand on her head and turn those eyes to face you.“No. I'm not going to kill you. You're no good to me dead, and it will be far less satisfying and much harder to find that pyramid and your mistress there and take all that is hers.” As you speak, the girl's eyes narrow as she seems to become more and more confused.“It may be that your order will kill me, but it will never be that they do so in open battle. It will be with assassin's blades and poisoner's toxins. If I continue without a shadow to watch my back, or guardian to safeguard my body, my death and your death is certain. And finally, we shall pull their lungs from their gaping wounds, and send them to the afterlife as blood angels, with wings of flesh, so that they may not even the strength to scream their misery to their gods.”>this is metal as all fuck, kudos anonThere is a soft plop as the slice of cheese Avael had been raising to her lips falls instead to the floor as she stares at you in bewilderment. Even Khepri appears slightly startled at your words.“A-and if it appears all is lost, and we are surely to die?” The catgirl asks in barely more than a whisper.
>>38778907Then I'll slit your throat myself, but I highly doubt it'll come to that. I go stronger by the day.
>>38778907Then you suck it up, and tell death to fuck off and punch it in the face.
“Then I'll cut your throat and send you to your afterlife. But it won't come to that.” You release your grip on her head, but those amber eyes never leave you.“Then allow this one... No. I beg you to let me serve you, to be your shadow, master.”Well so long as she understands...With a sudden thirst after such a sudden and exhaustive battle, you pour yourself some of whatever Grindstone had in the jug beside his bed. A short taste reveals it to be his very own firewater, and you drink unabashed, downing the cup in one long swig.Though you suddenly turn around at the abruptness at which the silences is broken as chains clatter to the floor. Khepri is back on her feet, no longer appearing so weak.“Hey, how did you...”Flop? Sproing? You aren't sure how you would describe the fleshy sound as she tugs off the leather armor adorning her top and those massive breasts suddenly come spilling out from beneath, clearly firm despite their immense size.“...What are you doing?”“I... Didn't you ask for me to serve you, master? I've only ever had a mistress, so I'm not exactly sure how, but...” The catgirl trails off, frowning in confusion, suddenly unsure if she's taking the right course of action. From your left, the door is suddenly pushed open and Grindstone comes in, the jug in his fist leading the way as he enters the room.“Well it isn't pretty but we'll stay floating. Ach,” He spits, “Can't say I've seen worse, though...” He stops as his beady, fierce eyes take in the room before him.You standing naked and more or less fully healed, Avael looking completely alarmed, Khepri standing still with her arms still entangled in her armor above her head as her breasts poise uncovered.“...I'm not exactly complaining, but you do know this is my cabin...” He raises an eyebrow at you.

We are going to go abovedecks now.”“Ah, right away, master.” The catgirl still looks confused as she pulls her leather top back down and has to work at it for several moments to get it back into position. Quite a struggle, from the sounds of it.Grindstone keeps watching, even as he takes an exceedingly long drink straight from the jug in his hand. If Khepri noticed his stare, she doesn't appear to care.“Were I sixty years younger, I would have swam the Death Water naked and buried a hundred men for a pair like that.” He says before continuing to drink."I explained that we were going to pillage her home. She seems quite keen on the notion. Maybe a bit too eager, even.” You look back to Khepri, or rather, her Khepris. You'd thought they had looked huge with the armor on. How does she fit those things in there?Grindstone nods at your words, and by the time he sets down the jug, you can hear the emptiness as it touches down on the table near the door.He does stop you at the door, however, looking first to you then to Khepri.“You took her bindings off? Are you sure we can trust her? My poor ship can't take another fight like that last one.” He spits on the floor.“She got those off herself, actually. And with how fast she is, if she had wanted she probably could have skewered me with something. Instead... Well... I think we'll be alright.” You chew the end of your mustache and tilt your head to signal your two captives to follow you.
You snatch up a pair of trousers and a cloak as a crewman offers them, before heading up and out onto the open deck above. Even in the last of the fading light, you appreciate the sun. The wind blowing against the billowed sails is warm, and even a Frost can appreciate such things.Finding yourself a seat on a barrel, you gesture to two nearby and both of your captives rest themselves as well. You can tell just by the look on Avael's face that she isn't exactly thrilled about all of this. It was cats who had captured her in the first place, apparently, and now they were sending yet more to try to steal her back.“Avael think this is bad!” She finally can't contain herself any longer, “Cats no good! Throw her off side and be much better!”You put up a hand to stop her, but the little fox continues.“Cats take me away in night! Sell to orcs! Avael does not approve!”It's only when you reach out and physically clamp a hand over her mouth that she shuts up. The sudden outbursts seem to have attracted much of the crew. All of them are staring hard, as if in complete amazement. You aren't quite sure why, this isn't the first time they've seen the little fox shouting about something.“Relax. She's not going to hurt you. Right, Khe...” You turn toward the cat and stop. The shadow, as she called herself, has pulled up one of her long, thick legs directly in front of her face despite her sitting position. She only pauses licking her own skin when she sees you looking.“Hmm?” She asks, tongue still touching her thigh.“Sweet Vera above, I'll be in my bunk.” One of the staring crew claps the nearest man on the shoulder and turns to walk away.
>>38779875>“Sweet Vera above, I'll be in my bunk.” One of the staring crew claps the nearest man on the shoulder and turns to walk away.haha
>>38779875>The shadow, as she called herself, has pulled up one of her long, thick legs directly in front of her face despite her sitting position.
Khepri begins to frown as you continue to stare without speaking. Her eyes flit between you, Avael, and the rest of the eagerly watching crew.“Wha' issit, 'aster?” She asks before finishing that lick.“Intolerably lewd!” Chides Avael with obvious distaste.“I'm not sure what you're doing, Khepri, but can you hold off until later, at least? I was about to ask you some questions.” While you don't really want her to stop, either, the crew had better get back to work before Grindstone catches them all gawking. The catgirl tilts her head in obvious confusion, but easily lowers her leg back down to sit quietly.Clearing your throat once to get the rest of the crew still milling about back to work, you ask one to fetch a few maps and the man returns a moment later with the rolls of skin. These you lay out on a still un-charred section of deck, brushing at it lightly to work out the folds.Khepri seems to instantly know what it is, and perfectly balanced, leans backwards to stare at the map while herself upside-down. How she remains somehow seated, you're unsure. You've never seen anything bend quite like that. The thunk of a cask hitting the deck across the ship tells you that neither has that crewman.“It seems to be missing quite a lot.” She notes, touching at a few sections as her eyes work the map over.“Because it is. My people haven't been this far east in thousands of years. What we may have known once has been lost to the realm of story and song. And even those are few and far between.” You relent. You have to get up and squat down next to the map, yourself quite incapable of contorting the way this cat can. But from there you point out the more detailed section that makes up your own homeland and the areas around it. From there you trace a general outline of the route the fleet had taken to come this far.
“No attacks from below? Interesting. The Scylla and Merish have been causing the same havoc here as they have been for you.” Khepri comments.“It would seem like this land has it easier than we have. We may be a people of ice, but even we can't subsist off of snow. That's why we took this chance.”You make a few remarks about that leg of the journey, before filling Khepri on where it was that you had first stumbled upon the orcs carting Avael. The little fox herself apparently none too thrilled to hear the retelling of her valiant rescue.“Still captured. Just you and not orcs.” She sticks her tongue out at you.[ ] You think you can more or less trust Khepri fully. While you think that Khepri can more or less be trusted, you hold off in revealing the fleet's current course to her just yet. First you'll learn what it is that she knows, and go from there. Thus you sit back and let the cat girl guide you through the great swathes of unknown on the map. Marking down different places with a brush and bottle of black squid ink whenever you deem it relevant enough to be worthwhile. She regales you with stories of places such as the Silk Hills, where imposing spider folk rule. Their kingdom one of unfathomable wealth but also impossibly stout strongholds. Walls raised high in rock with woven silk keeping them in place, stronger than any mortar. Fearless warriors with impressive bodies and bows that rivaled those even of the woodland elves.Of the centaur people, of whom you recognize as the two horse men that you had slain upon first arriving to this strange set of lands. A proud, strong folk with an unshakable sense of duty. Though their once sprawling kingdom had been reduced to a mere handful of holds and their numbers severely reduced in a one sided war against those known as the Rok harpies. Massive bird peoples with great spanning wings that would simply drop bundles of arrows and spears to rain upon opposing armies.“But these can wait, I think. Here is what you're really interested in, right, master?” Her finger points out the exact point that Grindstone had plotted the landing. Where Avael had suggested might indeed be the catlands while expressing her hesitation to go there.“Why would you say that? I never did tell you where it was we were going.” You raise an eyebrow at her.“Please, master.” The catgirl giggles, “You must learn you cannot hide such things from me. Already I have heard the talk amongst the crew, seen the position of the sun in relation to these blooming stars above. I know that these ships are bound for my homeland.”You sit back on the deck, though make no move to deny it.

“You're clever, that much is certain.” You absent mindlessly plant a hand on the girl's head and scratch lightly at her ear while you think. These ears are a bit different from Avael, substantially smaller and with shorter hair, but no less pleasant to the touch.“Ahh...” She leans her head into your hand which causes you to pull back when you realize what you're doing.“I have never had this done for me. I believe I enjoyed it, master.”“You're alright with that? My people going to your homeland, I mean.” You shift the subject quickly, “I did tell you we would depose your mistress and anyone else thinking of sending out more shadows after us. But we aren't on some diplomatic mission, and I'm not going to stop any of these men from their earned pillage.” You don't sugarcoat things for her. That city might well be razed to the ground.Instead of appearing put off, Khepri smiles.“My people live mostly as slaves to two groups of power. The high temple, to which my mistress belongs, and the Federated Associates of Trade. A group of cats responsible for the commerce of that great city, the shipment of goods, the taxation of vassal lands, and the selling of slaves.”You listen as she talks, scowling to yourself. Amongst the Frosts, slavery was seen as deplorable. While it was true that you and yours certainly took captives for yourselves, and even had many serve as thralls, there were laws to such things. Thralls taken fairly in conquest could only be kept for a maximum of a year before they were then required by law to be released as free men. Thralls beaten savagely or murdered were treated the same as the battering or murder of a free Frost.
While these things were true, thralldom itself had fallen widely out of practice thousands of years ago. Perhaps due to the infrequency of raids, perhaps due to a complete change in sentiment. Either way, while you somehow knew of these laws despite never having been told since leaving the glacier, you have never actually seen a thrall. When you tell Khepri such, the girl only smiles sadly.“In this part of the world, slavery is a common thing. Even in places that call themselves free, bonded servitude is far from unheard of. I was born a slave, my mother likely a slave, though I do not know. After being trained in the shadow arts, I was sold to my mistress.”>talk/question/action?

“Well you know where we're heading, and I think you have a good inclination what it is we are after. Pillage is one thing, but we aren't butchers if we don't have to be. Where are slaves kept? Will they fight for their masters? Would they fight for us?” You ask Khepri, the very word slave seems to leave a sour taste in your mouth that even spitting against the deck does not cleanse away.“Slaves are everywhere in that city. In the homes of wealthy, the temples, the fields. Nowhere will you find that does not have slaves. As to fighting most are untrained in such ways, and beaten often to remain obedient and their faces kept down. Most will not fight you, I should think, but nor will they fight for you or to free themselves. Perhaps some, those less comfortable in their shackles, but not many.”You nod as you listen. While you're unsurprised to hear that Khepri doesn't expect many to rally themselves to your cause, so long as they don't take up steel against you, that will be enough.“And what of any standing armies? If we land on these shores, who is going to be waiting for us there?”The catgirl thinks for a moment, her long tail curling and uncurling which for some reason you find more interesting than you would have first thought. Quite different from Avael's own bushy, fluffy appendage, but somehow just as tantalizing.
“At first? Diplomats from the FAT. Raiders are not entirely uncommon, bands of more feral centaurs from the east and such. They will first attempt to hold your steel with lavish bribes.”You laugh once.“They don't know who they're dealing with. We'll gladly accept such before continuing with the raid anyways. What do they do when diplomacy fails them?” You ask even as a crewman sets a lantern down by the map for you, now too dark outside to read it without.“The temple has its shadows, and the FAT have their money. The actual cat army is not large and is poorly supplied by taxation, most of which is corrupted away. Instead the city is usually guarded by various contracts of mercenary companies. Right now there are only two. The Death Thumpers, savage, nomadic rabbit people. And the Howling Horde, fierce and huge wolves from the farthest reaches of the north.”
>>38782045Well if they treat their slaves like property and livestock...Possibly. They might want to track the lineage and parentage of their property. Possibly to try and breed desirable characteristics.
>>38782308Wolves? I've dealt with wolves, reminds me of home...... Might get a new cloak out of this. A good one.
>>38782308>nomadic rabbit peopleYou don't say?
>>38782308>Fields.Tell me of the fields. How many are there.
>>38782308We should get her to make as detailed a map of the city as she can, especially in relation to military stations/barracks and supply stores.
>>38782468Agreed. But we don't need to do everything in one shot. I say we look towards helping out with the ship and conducting a full briefing with a council of all our longship captains.I'm interested in the normadic centaurs. We might be able to enlist their aid in the attacks or even ally with some of them if theres something they want.If the fields are big enough, the food this place produces might be able to feed a good portion of our people.
>>38782535It would be funny if we took the FAT's bribes, then bribed the wolf mercenaries to fight for us
>>38782556Anon, you are a devious genius. And I love your plan.
>>38782556They would just bribe them back again. They only bribe what they can afford to lose after all.We just offer to them everything they can carry after we finish sacking the city.
>>38782556son thats our new battle plan
>>38782556Kinda bad for business to do that... Never get hired again. But so is dying. Who knows.
>>38782556FAT could offer them more than us more then likely.
>>38782577this is more likely.
>>38782577Really it depends on how big these two mercs groups are. If there's just a bunch of thugs? Not even wroth our time to bribe them. Kill them.
>>38782580Still, no reason we can't go and chat them up abit, invite them back to our longship for more drinking, away from cat spies. This is, of course, after we accept their bribes and appear to be appeased.
>>38782588not if we open up that were better then then and there for be paid more
“Paid fighters, eh? Well we have those even where I come from. But a man who fights for coin isn't usually as fierce an opponent as one who fights for himself. Can these two groups be paid off?”Khepri listens to your question, before gazing around the battered ship.“This I do not know. But I find it unlikely that even all of what you had brought would be lucrative enough for them to abandon their contracts.”“Avael has seen wolves.” The fox girl speaks up from behind a loaf of bread so large for her that she has to hold it in her two small hands.“Nasty beasts. Big and mean. Covered in ticks!” She adds. But you don't need them to tell you such things. There are wolves even near the lands of your people, though it would seem their overall disposition is somewhat different. The wolves close to the Frost lands are mostly solitary, preferring to keep to themselves. Though many of their chieftains are loosely allied with the Frost kingdom by trade, as the wolves have many esteemed weapon smiths.“Putting the armies aside for now, you mentioned something about fields? Is this land rich in farms?”“Oh yes.” Khepri nods enthusiastically, “Though most of the land is desert, the river Lnie gives life to all around it. Sprawling crops all along its banks in such abundance that most is sold off as surplus.”You know that each member of the crew will be gladdened to hear of that. If only a start, any amount of food flowing back to your people would prove a welcome relief. Especially if the harvests were sustainable.
>>38782617Like I said up here >>38782608 If these mercs are nothing but a bunch of thugs. Not wroth the time nor planning. Kill them. Move on. If they're pros. They won't bite on the bribe knowing they'll never get another job again. Really better off taking that bribe to hire mercs of our own to be cannon fodder instead of trying for ones under contract.
>>38782628Raiders can't match the full paying ability of a trade federation. The only thing we can offer that might be able to match would be spoils of war. And they might just take that info and sell it to the trade fed to get more pay, AND buy time to prep defences against us....Hmm.WHAT IF.We sell our services to the city?Challenge one of the two groups, 1 vs 1 duel for retainer rights.Drive one off, out of the city.THEN we sack the city from within.
>>38782652>“Oh yes.” Khepri nods enthusiastically, “Though most of the land is desert, the river Lnie gives life to all around it. Sprawling crops all along its banks in such abundance that most is sold off as surplus.”>You know that each member of the crew will be gladdened to hear of that. If only a start, any amount of food flowing back to your people would prove a welcome relief. Especially if the harvests were sustainable.Right. This city is ours. Non-negotiable.
So engaged in the conversation are you, that the fact that the wind and waves have picked up is far beyond your care. It's only when a great wave splashes down over the bow and scatters across the deck that you finally take notice. The splash of saltwater doesn't really phase you, as you're quite used to such by now.“Weather picking up?” You ask, noticing Grindstone as he shouts a few orders to his crew.“Ach,” he spits, “it's only waves.”Khepri, however, seems quite perturbed. Her eyes now as big as saucers beneath sopping wet silvery hair as water drips down several strands in front of her face.[ ] The quick repairs are mostly complete, and the section of deck over your own quarters is patched. Retire to your cabin for now.[ ] This is amusing to watch, continue the conversation here.[ ] Be a bully and splash both your captives with the residual water on the deck[ ] OtherAlso I'm taking note of all these plans and suggestions for later.

>>38782735>[ ] This is amusing to watch, continue the conversation here. They need to learn to deal with the sea since this is our main mode of transport.
>>38782782Avael can already deal and antagonizing or freaking out a shadow cat at night seems unwise.

As amusing as this reaction is to watch, as a now panicked Khepri leaps from her barrel to avoid another splash of water, you aren't completely heartless. And as fun as splashing them both might be, the last time you had messed with Avael, she had burned a ship to ashes. While you doubt she'd do as much over a bit of seawater, you don't think Grindstone would take kindly to you chancing it. Especially after the events from earlier.“I think I'm going to head below, captain.”Grindstone looks back from the sea, flask still at his lips, and nods.“We should be nearing the coast some time early afternoon, Vetr. Make sure to get some sleep tonight.” He glances at both of your captives and gives you a slight nod. Thus you find yourself again back in that cabin. Now somewhat repaired from the earlier fight, however. At least enough to keep the seawater out.You gladly rip into a platter of food that you find waiting, and Avael is not far behind once she sniffs out the food from behind you.Khepri seems hesitant until you extend a chunk of hard white cheese toward her.“Eat! There's no way you aren't hungry.” You press the food into her palm.“With you, master?” She makes no motion to raise the cheese to her lips.“You aren't a slave. You can damn well eat any time you please. But I'll command you to if I must.”“Ah! N-no! I'll eat.” She suddenly seems far less tense, and hastily bites into the morsel in her hand. While she might not be quite as ravenous as Avael always seems to be, the girl eats heartily all the same. Especially upon finding the small plate of salted cod and small cask of pickled herrings.
You find yourself far thirstier than hungry, and the numerous jugs set on the floor near the table are more than welcome. Drinking deep of the mead and the wine and the ale, you quickly feel far more at ease than you have all day. And a day it has been.Though Avael makes no motion to partake in what she sniffs out as firewater, the fox does down several horn cups of the sweat mead herself.Khepri seems hesitant at first, but soon enough she apparently finds the sour red wine to her tastes.“I've never been permitted to drink of lifewater.” She admits, “But from time to time while on missions, opportunity has presented itself.”“Well there is plenty of opportunity here.” You shake your head and grimace, “Because not many of us drink much water.”>talk/question/action?
>>38783128"Now. Tell me about yourself."

Belching loudly into your fist, you make your intentions to bathe known as you shove a few more logs under the iron bath.“I know much about Avael here and her magic,” You nod down at the little fox who reluctantly lights your bathwater while keeping a close eye on you, “But I don't know all that much about you and yours.”Leaving the question open ended, you kick off the trousers and shrug out of the cloak, before lowering yourself into the water.“Hmm... Aside from what I've already told you, there isn't all that much to tell.” The cat girl frowns in thought.“Well you don't seem to like water very much, for a start.”“Ah, that? No, my people tend to avoid it when possible. Fine enough to drink, but we prefer to bathe as I was doing earlier.”A bit inebriated now, you reach out your still dry hand and waggle a finger at one of the cat ears, which flicks back and forth at every touch.“Do you find those interesting, master?” She looks slightly confused.“Well they certainly are.” You snag one with two fingers and rub it, feeling the strange texture. Your hand lowers down to the top of her head, brushing at the soft hair there.“That's pretty smooth for a former slave.” You note as you pick a strand up.“Ah, well all of my people take time to groom, slave or no.” She licks the back of one hand and rubs that across her face as though to demonstrate.
“More than I can say for some...” You turn your gaze and Avael noticeably starts, but can't escape before your hand snags the end of her tail.Slowly you begin to pull the fox toward you, despite her struggling. Tired and even a bit drunk you might be, but you can smell the salt and seawater on her even from the bath.“Do not bully Avael.” She warns with dangerous eyes.“Keep that up and you might find that collar around your neck instead of hers. Now you're getting into this bath one way or another. It's up to you whether or not I have the cat help you in.”The desert fox glares daggers, but you can see her mind working things out, and at last she seems to relent. Her struggling ceases and she willingly walks to stand beside the large tub.“No looking.” She scowls.“Nothing I haven't already seen under there.” You shrug, but turn your head to instead reach down and pull a jug closer to refill your own cup yet again. There is a small splash as the water across from you is disturbed. Avael slides in quickly, covering herself fully behind her hands until she's up to her eyes in the water.“You two are quite close.” Khepri raises her eyebrows.“How why you think so!?” Avael bites back angrily.
>>38783501now. pull in the other one.
>>38783619It's like you want the ship to sink.
“Don't listen to her, we're practically inseparable.” You splash Avael with a wave from the bath, and those big blue eyes simply stare from above the water in obvious annoyance.Ignoring the small fox for now, you reach down and lift the longer tail of the cat in your hand. It feels substantially different from the fluffiness of the fox's. Longer and thinner, with shorter fur that is no less soft, you note.“So you've always been a slave?” You rub the long tail with your thumb.“Yes, always. My earliest memory is of the temple of shadow, the training there.”“Just combat training? You're one hell of a fighter.” You let go of the tail and lean back in the bath, prodding Avael's stomach with a toe much to her ire.“Not just combat, no. Everything a shadow needs. How to blend in, to disappear. How to find things, people. These sorts of things.”You relent in your teasing as Avael pinches your leg hard, and instead turn back to Khepri.“So how exactly did you find us? How so fast?” You ask earnestly. The speed at which this cat had appeared was alarming, and she had seemingly come from nowhere.“Ah, yes. Word travels fast in these lands, even the pink orcs have access to some magics. My mistress no doubt heard of her abduction and I was dispatched from there. Atop a great Rok harpy I flew in search, high in the sky, until I spotted these strange ships.” Khepri looks around the cabin.“Then I simply landed myself on one in the dead of night. Not this one, but I went from ship to ship through the shadows until I found her.” She glances at the nearly submerged Avael.
You nearly take another drink from the cup before one thought quickly stops you, and you sit up abruptly in the bath.“I understand that you were trying to take her. But if you had killed me and taken her, how were you to escape?”“A sign of magic to the Rok above and it would have come swooping down to pick us up.”A sense of panic rising in your chest, you nearly jump from the water. Is that thing still up there? Can it by itself pose any real threat to the fleet?Khepri seems to guess these rising questions, because she speaks before you can.“It has already left by now. As I said before, my mistress will quickly learn of my failure.”
Though you try to settle back down, you find yourself done with bathing. Instead you stand up and reach for a cloth to dry off. Avael's face turns a scarlet red despite her tanned hue and she turns it away quickly. Khepri only looks rather inquisitively.“And more will come, like you said? Well we can deal with that when it happens, but for now we have an equally pressing concern.” You glance over your shoulder to the one, lone mattress of feathers and its heaping pile of blankets and furs.[ ] Set out the largest of the bear furs for bedding and take this for your own.[ ] Captives don't get to sleep on beds, no matter how fluffy said captives might be. “I'm not sure I take your meani...” The cat starts, but her eyes move from your smirk down your body until they fixate on the enraged stalagmite at your groin. Already massive, the tip dripping in the heat of the cabin.“Oh? Well don't worry too much about meaning. I'm pretty sure you'll understand here pretty quickly.”For emphasis, you take one of her soft hands and wrap it around the thick base of your ice sickle.“Ah... Ummm...” Khepri's face flushes as she remains rather frozen in uncertainty.“Wha! What doing?!” Avael attempts to back away, but you're too fast for her.Snagging her again by the tail, you begin to pull her closer toward you, until at last the tip of that tail brushes lightly against your snowballs.“What am I doing? Just having some fun.” You grin wickedly. With a strong grip on her tail, Avael is unable to pull away, and you can turn your attention back to the catgirl.“You know, holding it is fun, but you should really try eating... it...” Your words trail off as your eyes take in the swirling darkness where your snowmaker should be, as it begins to swallow that as well as the catgirl's arm past her wrist.Though you attempt to pull back in shock, somehow this darkness has hold of you and refuses to let go.“Hey, uhh... I'm not sure you quite get the point of this...” You chuckle, but stop when you see the crazy eyes of the catgirl as she just stares at the forming darkness, her pupils narrowing as she peers into it.

“Hah hah, this is sort of fun.” Khepri muses, her now blank, dead eyes still fixated on the growing darkness.“Hey, Avael. Maybe give me a hand here... Mph?!” Too late to pull away from it, you're caught completely around the head by a swirling mass of flaming golden tails. Though they feel almost hot to the touch, they are decadently fluffy.A stark contrast to the cold feeling spreading from your lower body, which you now can't pull away to see.Instead you try to struggle your way out. There had been a way you had wanted this to go, and it is heading in a very different and alarming direction instead.Your words completely muffled now as the tails continue to wind around your head, neck, and shoulders, you find yourself quite unable to speak. And it would seem that the harder you attempt to free yourself, the tighter the tails wrap you up.Now the cold, sort of wet feeling has taken you from your feet all the way to your abdomen. And something about it feels alien, though at the same time somehow pleasurable. In fact, now that your mind starts to think about it. This feels good. Who needs to breathe, anyways? As your struggling subsides, body giving in to the two pronged assault, your mind becomes pleasantly numb instead. The tails around you meet suddenly with the darkness below, and the two forces collide almost angrily against one another. The void of darkness suddenly feeling as though teeth were sinking into the flesh inside. The tails only growing hotter and hotter still.Cats and foxes must really not get along, a tiny, distant voice in your fading mind. You think you can maybe smell some meat cooking. It sort of smells good.

Somehow you can still feel your lower body as that black void seems to almost chew on it. What feels like ten thousand long, needle-thin teeth sinking again and again into the flesh. Blood welling out from each pin prick wound. A long, rough tongue running over the bleeding flesh once before the teeth sink yet again. If the catgirl's hand is still down there or not, you're quite unsure. And if it is, you wonder if the teeth have her as well.Your upper self begins to slowly melt into the pleasure of the burning flames as your skin starts to char black and slough off to only feed the fires devouring it. What joy, to be surrounded in that fluffy, incinerating red flame. This is fine, you think to yourself as your eyes finally burst from the heat, leaving you in total darkness. This is completely fine.

>>38784408>>38784411>>38784423It's fucking Sargeras. I believe the most concise and accurate description of him is, "a literal pile of shit wired to a computer." Banished Quest, some of the most chill dudes I know, got so fed up with his bullshit, they final destination filled an entire page with the same exact sentence telling him to get the fuck out and confirming that at 66% of the readership thought he should jump a bridge.

>>38784451>implications“Umm... What else can you do on a bed aside from sleep?” Khepri tilts her head questioningly, and you're quite amused by her sudden naiveness.“Well we already took our baths and you didn't want to join in the water, right? But you can't just go to sleep all filthy, now can you? So I'll help you clean yourself up first.”She seems to get the hint when you give her leather armor a light tug, and her own hands do the rest as she strips the boiled piece from her body, revealing tight, smooth skin beneath. Giving you yet another view of those ample, full breasts. Almost defying gravity in how perky they are despite their size.Taking her left arm, you raise it to your face and slowly begin to lick up toward her wrist, repeating it again when she makes no motion to pull it away.“This... Ngh. Feels different than when I do it.” She looks a bit amused at the situation, until your face meets her armpit. Now she shudders as she feels your tongue again as you lick the beads of sweat from her. A bit salty and maybe even a bit sweet, not at all unpleasant.“Avael thinks she should not be seeing this.” The foxgirl comments, her face hidden behind her hands, but two fingers spread just enough so her right eye can continue to watch.Khepri giggles slightly, tickled, as you slide over to her stomach. Despite being soft and smooth, you can feel the power lurking just beneath. As full and curvy as she is, you can tell she's astoundingly fit.“Hey, that sort of...”Tickles, is what she might have said next. But the words catch in her throat as your mouth meets the underside of her fat cat tats. The softness, though pleasant against your tongue, is just too enticing for you to bear any longer. Eagerly your hands come up to practically bury themselves in those enormous breasts. Hungrily squeezing against each and feeling the springy skin pushing back against your fingers.
>>38784472It takes a lot of ranks in faggotry. I mean if you put that many ranks in swordplay you'd be an epic level martial.
>>38784489>Dynasty Warriors 8:EmpiresLove that game. Wish there's online co-op though.
>>38784460>>38784472As banished quest would say, Dedication.
>>38784503Yeah.Definitely would make it more fun to be able to play with your bros
>>38784495I don't know why but that always makes me lol
Her arousal is no question once you feel each of her small, pink nipples harden against your palms. Too enticing by far.Greedily you rise to meet them and give these a few cursory licks as well.Khepri shudders even harder this time, her thighs pressing together as she feels a sudden weakness in her legs.“Way different than doing it myself.” She squeaks.“Better?” You ask with a small bite. Her hands gripping the back of your head suddenly as she lets out a high moan, you feel her body completely give out and manage to catch her before she just falls over.“That was surprisingly easy. But it isn't over yet.” You grin, wiping your beard with the back of your arm.Now you take her under the arms and lift her easily over the bed, dropping her onto the furs there that let out a small pomf as she collapses on them, her breath still fast and shallow, excited.“This doesn't seem quite like a...” An almost electric jolt runs through her soft frame as she feels your tongue meet her skin yet again, “Bath!”
“I know I called you clever earlier, but you're maybe a bit dense, too.” You smirk, before lightly biting her inner thigh.“So... What is it we're going to be doing on the bed?” The catgirl asks before her hips buck sharply and her long tail coils itself around your neck.“Again already? Greedy, aren't you?” You laugh.“Avael... Thinks she is going to go, now.” The fox girl shuffles slowly toward the door, though never turns her hidden face away.[ ] A fox is fine, too[ ] Let her escape, she'll be back[ ] Send your servant to capture her[ ] Other?I don't even remember the last time I went full lewd. But just before she can manage to slip on past you, your hand snatches her right where her tail meets her rather plump posterior. With a small, muffled yelp, she makes a desperate attempt to dive forward, but you're already pulling her back.“And where do you think you're going on this fine night?” You ask, bemused.“Outside?” She offers hopefully.“Haha. Nah.” As soon as she's close enough, you grab her with one arm and easily pick her up into the air. She drops the cloth in her panic, and you're greeted with a full face on view as she manages to nearly struggle free, which only results in planting her butt right against your nose. With a yelp, she springs forward, but you manage to bring her down onto her stomach against the feather mattress.“I'm not going to make you join in, tonight.” You assure her even as you stroke her fluffy tail with your hand, “But you are going to watch. It's more fun that way.”Now she doesn't protest, instead laying there while her whole body quakes violently with each brush of your fingers against her tail. Though she does jump in alarm when you take the opportunity to grip one of her exposed cheeks in your hand.Leaning over the bed, you stare down into the amber eyes of the catgirl laying there almost breathless.“Are you ready for this?” You ask her, though any way she answers is fine. Her hands rise up to grip both sides of your head, which she pulls down until your lips meet her own. At the same time, you feel her legs slide around your torso until they lock against each other. Tongue still entangled with her own, she pulls you forward until you can feel exactly what you're after. You nearly ask if she's actually as innocent as she acted, until you can feel a sudden resistance just inside. Though with another greedy pull, you break through that until your ice sickle is buried completely. It almost melts you instantly, but you manage to retain your composure.
>>38784753>Her hands rise up to grip both sides of your head, which she pulls down until your lips meet her own. At the same time, you feel her legs slide around your torso until they lock against each other.Missionary with the lights off possibly leading to hand holding? Dude what the fuck man? You've gone too far now
>>38784794Shit man! He's gone to far! CALL DA POLICE!
“Ahhh....” Khepri groans, her claws raking across your back hard enough they may have drawn blood. But all that does is encourage you.Grabbing her hip with your one free hand, you continue to gently stroke Avael's tail with the other, even as you pull your body together with the cat's once more. Slowly, but firmly.Taking caution not to just unleash frosty the snow beast right away, you tentatively build up a rhythm. Each time your pelvis connects with hers, you feel a small bit of tension leaving her body. Despite the trace of blood, she isn't pushing you away.Instead, Khepri turns her head so she's face to face with Avael. The small fox girl watching her wide-eyed and clearly in panic. But somehow, through the long fur of her tail, you can sense she's somehow enjoying this as well. This isn't your first time, having been unable and also unwilling to turn away every Frost girl who had thrown herself at you back in the snowlands. So you know enough to at least know your own limit, which you're steadily closing in on.Releasing your hold on her hip, you instead entwine your fingers with one of Khepri's and lean into her more as the pace quickens. If not by your own accord, certainly by the way her legs drive you into her forcefully, still wrapped tight about you.
>>38784879>with one of Khepri's andone of Khepri's handsEven as the last of the candles flickers out, the only light coming from the moon beyond the porthull windows of the ship, you keep thrusting harder and faster still. With each motion, Khepri lets out a rather loud but alluring “Ahh!” Completely cute and clashing with her demeanor from earlier when she had been begging you to kill her.And now, even with her head buried in the soft furs of the bedding, you can hear Avael letting out similar noises as you stroke her faster to keep pace.“Somethings... I'm going to pee? What is.....AAAHHHhhhhhhhh!!!” Khepri's legs suddenly tighten and pull you in one last time as her entire body shivers, her back arcing off the bed and her free hand twisting one of the cotton blankets.Unable to last any longer, you relinquish your sweet ice cream inside.Even Avael shudders one last time, before her body goes limp.
>>38784888>Unable to last any longer, you relinquish your sweet ice cream inside. You're going to have too much fun with. I can tell.
>>38784879>>38784888>you instead entwine your fingers with one of Khepri's>Even as the last of the candles flickers outHe fucking did it
How do you even live with yourself papa, after releasing such filth?
>>38784947quite comfortably I imaginethat scene was delicious
I havnt chucked as much since hlqWell. Played. Sir.
Only after holding yourself there for perhaps several minutes, do you finally pull away with a groan. Groggily you reach around until you find a cup and drain the contents in one gulp.“Gods, I needed that.” You sigh before collapsing onto your back atop the bed.Reaching to the table yet again, you find first a cup, but ignore that in favor of an entire jug. So taken in your drinking that you hardly notice as the cat girl pries herself up from the furs.Avael pushes herself upright, her hair of golden drills hanging in a mess across her face. Still breathing hard, she stares at you for several moments, before collapsing down once again. You're still mid-gulp when you feel something soft and wet lick inquisitively at the vanilla cream still adorning the partially melted ice sickle. Nearly causing you to cough instead of swallow as you tilt your head to see.“You can't possibly be ready again.”Khepri's eyes almost seem to shine in the darkness, before you lose sight of them and stifle a groan. The next morning comes sooner than you wished, and despite all the activity, you awaken substantially refreshed. Picking up a full jug from the nightstand, you take one last glance at the pair snoozing soundly beneath the furs, before finding your trousers and stepping out and up.The morning sun and stiff ocean breeze feel fantastic against your bare torso, and you drink heartily as you go on a search for something to eat.Only when you extend a wooden plate toward a cook, he heaps out a ladle full of cold porridge, staring at you with a hard gaze and making no move to add any freshly crisped bacon. It is then that you're aware of all the obvious stares boring into you. From every angle, every crew member, even Grindstone watches you coldly from behind what must be a mostly empty flask.“Alright.” You at last relent, raising your hands in surrender, “I'm an ass, I admit it.”
And I'm probably going to call it a night here, considering I have to leave for work in about forty minutes. So I guess that would mean I'm calling it a morning? I digress. I'll hang around the thread until I have to leave.>>38784947I wash my hands of any responsibility. You should have known that it would be all soppy and disgusting.
>>38784967Ha! I love this crew.
>>38784967Shit just realized we were up fucking all night while they fixed the busted ship.

>>38785001Yep, we've already got our catgirl and foxgirl, and the mistress dies unless she presents a very strong case for otherwise, but everyone else is fair game for the crews
Sometimes I heavily consider starting one of these, but then read one like this and I think... Nah. It's much more fun to just read along.
