Bit of a late start today, trying to un-fuck my sleeping patterns. so far, not much success. Hahaha.

Other than that, not much here. I'll be running back over to the folk's house to throw out trash and grab a pizza, so there may be a bit of a delay between the OP and the first post, we'll see. Maybe not.

Anyway, archive here:

The girls' formation flying skills aren't actually that bad, despite the soviets having never been noted as the greatest in that field. You'd decided, on your refueling stopover at Keflavik AFB that they must have developed them as a result of being each others only friend for so long. It'd have been hard to miss- impossible, really- how close they are, though they've begun, if only just, to trust each other 'alone' with you or Merlin.

From Iceland, your formation flew on to RAF Wattisham, landing there long enough to disconnect and stretch your legs while your fighters were refueled and rearmed for the final leg of the trip in. You'd made most of the trip across the Atlantic with a basic self-defense load of a pair of agiles and a pair of AMRAAMS, figuring that the Soviets just didn't have the remaining air assets to attempt an intercept, even if they had detected you. Wattisham fills out your aircraft, giving you six more AMRAAMS and six ASRAAMS, the European sidewinder replacement. While you personally think your Agiles are more capable, the ASRAAM has proven effective, both moving faster and having longer range than the Agile, though it's less maneuverable and it's seeker head isn't quite as capable off-bore as the Agile's is.

Not that you expect it to matter- right now, from what you gather sitting on the post, NATO ammunition stocks are kind of heterogeneous still, with the remaining stocks of AIM-9s still arming some bases, while others have transitioned over to AIM-95s and ASRAAMs. Logistics in a world war, you reflect, must be a bitch.

1/3
>>
From Wattisham, you head towards Berlin, then turn eastbound, guiding on Torun south via it's TACAN- you have to interrogate it to get it to broadcast, but before long, the familiar buildings of the post creep into view, the runway inviting you home.

You touch down first, relaxing when you feel your wheels kiss the pavement. That's a sensation that's been taking some getting used to- it's not exactly unpleasant, but you're not sure you like it much. The twins are next down, landing as you're pulling onto the indicated spot on the tarmac, noting, with some pleasure, you got the nosewheel perfectly on the mark.

The girls land, one right behind the other, as you and Merlin shut down the wyvern and open the canopy to a light breeze as they taxi to their own spots on the other side of you from the twins, their fighters unmarked, like yours. You'd mentioned that to Admiral Longstreet- it just didn't feel right, not having all your tallies on the nose of your fighter, or not having the grim reaper emblem on your tailfin. He'd shrugged, trapped by stateside SOP- navy aircraft weren't allowed to display that kind of thing, and while it might work overseas, stateside, people actually checked.

You'd shrugged- you'd already promised the girls they could get their helmets painted, and you'd figured you'd have the same done for the fighters, though you need to consult Ice about how she wants you flying- she may want to split your fighters up, though that'd be stupid in your opinion.

Still, first thing's first. You suffer the momentary- and brief- wave of disorientation as you unhook from the VDNI system. That's not new, but it's more pronounced with the Wyvern, you've noticed. It's probably something to do with the wyvern being much more advanced than the skyfox, and there's more to integrate with. That said, you haven't mentioned it yet, and it doesn't seem to matter too much- it's brief and not too bad, similar to waking up in the morning.

>>
You hit your strap releases and stand up as the ground crew, accompanied by your crew chief, bring out the rolling ladders and the aircraft tugs. He returns your handshake at the bottom of the ladder, looking over at the XFA-27s. “New birds, eh, sir?” He asks, rubbing his chin.

You nod. “Yep, brand new.” You respond. “Same deal as the wyvern, limited combat testing with select frontline units.”

He laughs. “No shocker we got 'em then. We got the tech orders and everything, but they look kinda... uh.” He shrugs. “Naked. You want 'em done up?”

On the one hand, you know Nixon's said it's good for morale to have your fighters be kind of distinctive- you're visible enough that having a distinct paint scheme isn't a problem, since it's already pretty well known who you are, and it helps out allied troops to see you. On the other hand, it hasn't made you much of a bigger target, but you figure it'll start if you get too carried away- you may already be distinct, but advertising isn't going to help if the headhunters are still active.

[x] Just restore our kill tallies on the noses and get the squadron emblem repainted on the tails.

You nod, looking over at the girls' fighters as their canopies open up. Stasya- at least, you're pretty sure it's Stasya, she's got her mask on and her visor down- looks over at you for a second, but then back down into her fighter. Still, you smile.

“Just restore the kill tallies and get the squadron emblem on the tails, huh?” You say. “No real reason to flaunt who we are, ya know?”

The chief nods, but looks kind of disappointed. “Anything else?”

You shrug. “You know what? How about some nose art?”

He nods again. “Sure thing!” He says, sounding happy. “What were you thinking?”

You explain your idea- an eagle with a piece of lace in it's beak, and a soviet witch's cap badge in one talon, an old canvas belt in the other. He grins and nods- seems that story may have gotten around.

You look around the pad- no one's coming up to collect you, so after the twins and your girls join you, you collect your personal bags from the cargo pod you'd had loaded in your centerline bay and head off to the support building.

You find the girls a pair of lockers and help them stow their equipment, turning in your helmets, survival gear, and parachutes to the airman on duty at the desk. The twins decide to head back to the house from there, which seems like a pretty good idea- you've got to get the girls squared away with a room, and you're sure you'll need to start introducing them to everyone else.

But you figure you ought to report back in, too. While it's not strictly necessary- you're sure, by now, Ice knows you're back on post- you still figure it'd be the courteous thing to do. You're pretty sure she'll be up in her office- she's nothing if not predictable like that.

Merlin yawns, interrupting your thoughts. “Kinda sleepy.” She says when you look down at her. “Where are we going now, Frank?”

[] Back to the house, we'll introduce everyone and you can catch a nap.

[x] Ice's office, We'll go check in with the boss then head back to the house.

You consider sending her back to the house for a minute, then change your mind- just as well Ice sees you're both ok and back. Plus, you think, she needs to meet Stasya and Lilya. That should prove interesting.

“Well, you can catch a nap after we go see Ice, ok?” You say, and she nods. “Girls, you ready to meet my commander?”

They both nod after a second. You kneel down and Stasya crawls up on your back, while Lilya takes your hand as you walk out of the support building, Merlin walking on your other side.

It's a nice day out as you head across the tarmac, Stasya's heels drumming lightly on your chest as you walk. You have to duck going into the admin building, though no one really looks up. Not that you expected them to, given how many witches there are on post. The lone navy secretary in the outer office greets you, barely looking up from the paperwork on his desk.

“Go on in, sir.” He says as you pass by. “The commander is in there with the exec, they're waiting for you.”

You nod, opening the door after a single knock- you had to get Lilya to let go of your hand, but she follows you in.

Ice and Slider both look up from her desk- Slider's standing next to the boss behind the desk from you, with the TV in the corner on CNN and turned down low. The news is more of the usual.

“Frank, Samantha.” Ice says. “How're you two feeling?”

You can feel Stasya stiffen up when she sees Ice and Slider. Lilya, you suspect, is feeling about the same, given how she grabs your hand again. If they notice, Ice and Slider don't react to it.

[x] We're both good. The admiral told me I've got you to thank for that.

“We're both good.” you say, setting Stasya down, though she, like her sister, takes a spot up still behind you. You grin- both at your girl's behavior and at what you're about to say. Well, the reaction you expect . “I hear I've got you to thank for that.”

As you guessed, Slider grins- a huge, shit-eating grin that'd do anyone proud, and Ice turns damn near purple. “W-well I- uh. I p-panicked, s-see, a-and-” She stammers, blinking. “You- I... I mean- B-but-”

You laugh. “Easy, boss. You going to be ok?”

She nods, though at this point she looks about like she could disappear.

“Anyway, I see I'm being rude.” You say. “I suppose I should get everyone introduce.”

You have to reach behind you, but you find Stasya and Lilya- more accurately, they guess what you want and step out from hiding, though they each take a hand before they do. This time, you do see recognition flash across Slider's face, though she hides it pretty quickly- Ice is still trying to return to a normal human color.

[x] Introduce them as your daughters- see how Ice and Slider like that!

“Ice, Slider.” You start, trying desperately to keep your grin out of your voice- and off your face. “These are my daughters, Stasya and Lilya.”

Even Slider, normally immune to these kinds of things, reacts to that, blinking. “Your- wha-” She says. Ice just starts coughing.

You nod. “You heard me right.”

“Frank how- why-”

You shake your head. “Lemme finish introducing everyone, you two are being rude.” You say- Slider coughs. Slider! You'll never pull that off again, you figure. But if you died now, you'd ascend to Valhalla, full of victory. “Girls, this is my commander, Commander Tabatha Kazinski, and our executive officer, Lieutenant commander Rachel Kerner.”

The girls both hesitate- you shake Stasya's arm a bit. “H-hello.” She says, quietly.

“Hi.” Slider says, recovering quickly. “Now, Frank, care to explain?”

You know, I was wondering about it, and out of all our mates in our squad, wouldn't these girls most likely gravitate towards calling Slider "Momma" first? Ice has that authority figure stigma that would probably intimidate them, and Katya's Russian, so she's got that working against her. Slider's already got that mother bear attitude towards the squad anyway. Wendy might work, but I don't think she has the self confidence to even allow it yet.

[x] Write-in!

“Well, it's kind of a long story.” You say, taking a seat- Stasya plops down next to you, while Lilya plants herself on your lap. “But first-”

You jostle the girls. “Girls. You should greet your mothers.”

“M-moth-” Ice stammers, while Stasya and Lilya both look at you sharply. You suddenly realize you kind of got carried away- it's well and good to troll Ice and Slider, but the girls are kind of touchy about family, and it'd be a bastard move to get their hopes up like that. “Sorry, girls.”

“It's ok papa. We were just confused.” Staysa says, after a second.

“He can get carried away like that.” Slider says, commiserating with them. “So he adopted you both, huh?”

Stasya nods.

“Yeah, I did.” You say.

“Why?” Slider asks. “That's kinda jacked up, Frank, you're a fighter pilot-”

“So are we.” Stasya says, and you nod supporting her.

“I-” Slider starts, then shakes her head. “How'd you pull it off?” She asks, dropping it. You're sure it'll come up later, but for now you're in the clear. “Musta been fun in legal.”

“We'll talk about that part later.” You say- she's right, but as it happens, being a decorated hero of the battle of Berlin really, really helped. “In the mean time, though, they're both commissioned and part of the unit. Should be fun trying to keep the ensigns bishop straight, have fun with that, boss.” They'd both been happy for the commission- as it turns out, they weren't actually considered part of the VVS in the soviet union, and were instead considered civilians working for the military.

They'd been even happier about having their new last name put on their paperwork. Both of them had been nothing but smiles the entire time. You'd wished you could have taken pictures- you only got a couple when they actually swore their commissioning oath.

Ice, for her part, still hasn't quite recovered the power of speech, and nods mutely.

Slider looks over at her and sighs. “Well, you broke her. Good job, Frank.”

[x] Give her an hour or so, she'll be ok. You have anything for us, or should we go bother the rest of the unit?

You chuckle. “Give her an hour or so, she'll be ok.”

“Duh. You're saying that like I haven't known her almost twice as long as you.” Slider says.

You laugh. “So do you have anything for us, or should we go bother the rest of the unit?” You ask.

She shakes her head. “Nothing right now, we'll get you up to speed before ops tomorrow.”

You nod. “Sounds like a winner. Nothing I need to know in case of a scramble?”

“Nah, nothing we can't brief in the air.” She responds. “Here, hold up, I wanna come along for this. Besides, she's going to need some recovery time. The poor girl. You have to be more gentle, Frank.”

The girls both look at you like you're crazy when you laugh at that.

Lilya gets to ride this time, while Stasya keeps you between Slider and herself- probably on purpose, but she's less blatant about it than she used to be, at least a little.

“So what made you decide to adopt them?” Slider asks. “I mean, I don't wanna dig, but we're both curious.”

“We both?” You ask. “How'd you get that from her turning purple and being stricken suddenly mute?”

The actual files were too large for 4chan, so I've been posting scale downed images so far.

The full resolution artwork, as usual, is in my Strike Witches Quest album here: http://imgur.com/a/eNNMb#0

I planned a lot of this out well before drawing it. Both of the girls are drawn in a way that's contrary to their usual, outward appearance. Ice is in a loose, free flowing dress, smiling brilliantly, and her hair is let down. Slider is dressed elegantly in contrast, and her hair is tied up in a fancy bun rather than in a casual ponytail, the two are framed as so the primary lines converge towards each other, and etc.

However, if an idea is silly or interesting enough, I might draw it, but don't bet on it.
I'm considering opening up commissions though.

>>38778428
I was watching that strawpoll on the bus home. First off, until the near end, the number of votes was less than the number of unique posters in the thread. Throughout, someone was trying to proxy spam for Bridgette (Likely Ghost resetting his router). Eventually, some Katyafag started proxyspamming, so I called the vote there and then, and it was tied for Slider and Ice.
>>
>>38778871
Actually in the first poll it was tied between Minna, Katya and Ice, then the proxyspam started up and from then on the votes and subsequent polls were all invalid.

You pause. You know both the girls are probably interested to hear it too- they'd accepted that you'd adopted them well before the ink was dry, and they've never asked why.

“Sometimes-” you say, frowning as you try to think of the words to use. “Sometimes, you have to do what's right, even if you don't know why it's right when you're doing it.” You say.

Slider nods, expecting you to stop there, but you're not entirely happy with that explanation. “I'm a guardian of witches, yeah, but there's more to it than that, too. They deserve a chance to be happy, even if they can never have normal.”

Slider shrugs. “Normal is boring. My family's normal. Dad's an accountant for chrissakes.” She laughs. “Not like you and Ice with your military lineage and family full of heroes and stuff.”

You shrug- well, try to, Lilya makes that difficult. “And I kinda felt like I had to take some responsibility for them, after Crete and all. I mean, I'm not going to halfass this. They needed a family-”

>>
Stasya squeezes your hand a bit when you say that- you hope she gets what you're trying to say, since you're not quite sure you do. There's a lot of reasons you made the decision you did, and you're not sure you can explain them all.

“And who knows what would have happened if I hadn't stepped up to the plate. They'd have had a slot at Annapolis, sure, but after that?” You finish, shaking your head. “I don't know. I can't really explain it, I guess.”

“It's aight.” Slider says, after a second. “I think I get what you're going for. It's noble of you.”

She pauses, then laughs. “Not sure why anyone'd be surprised, looking at it like that. You're nothing if not noble, right?”

“That's me.” You affirm. “Shall Defend, right?”

“Hah.” The laugh is kind of strained. “Well, if you need a hand, you know where to look.”

[x] Thanks Slider. That means a lot.

You nod. “Wendy? Good call, yeah. Need to go see her.”

Slider shoots a look over at you. You grin back at her. “Wait, did you mean Kimiko? I dunno, she's kinda weird.”

She shakes her head. “And would insist that your 'true' heirs got all the benefits and everything.” She says. “C'mon, Frank. Think hard.”

“But Patty would just corrupt them to see what happens.” You say, still grinning.

She sighs, and you laugh. “Thanks, Slider. That means a lot.”

She nods, though she's too busy trying to not laugh to respond. At least, that's what you're going to tell yourself.

The house isn't empty- in fact, almost everyone, to include Hauptmann Young- is in the lounge. That she's sitting in Patty's lap momentarily bothers you- there are children present, afterall, but you rather doubt she gives much of a shit. To be fair to her, everyone here's a combat vet anyway, so it's not like you can use the innocence argument here. Even if it is perfectly valid.

“Hey, welcome back smalltime.” She says, being the first to see you. “Finally decide to join the rest of us mere mortals, huh?”

You shrug. “Sometimes I have to descend from on high to fix the problems you peons have created.”

“Hey, that's a good one. I'm surprised you know what it means.” She says, then shakes her head and laughs. “Anyway, I'm not gonna intrude on your reunion.” She grabs a handful of mav's hair and twists her head so they're face-to-face, then plants a kiss on her- you quickly turn so Stasya doesn't see and Lilya hopefully missed it.

“Cheers.” She grins at you, leaving the room.

“Welcome back, sir Bishop.” Wendy says, the first to make a sound- they're all looking at Mav, stunned. For her part, Patty looks out of breath. “Should I take your bags upstairs for you?”

Katya, as a character, has her own merits and dismerits. As a waifu, a rescue romance is not the way to go. I think.
>>
[x] Nah, sit a while, got some introductions to do.

You shake your head and point at her just-vacated seat. “No. Sit a while, we have some introductions to do.” You say. “And what did I say about calling me Sir?”

“Um...” She looks around for support. Finding none, she shrugs, kind of hopefully. “T-that you'd forgive me if I did and would be quite happy to let me go?”

“Haha, good joke.” You say, somewhat drily, setting Lilya down.

You lead the two of them to the one unoccupied couch- Katya had been laying across it, but got up when she saw the three of you, indicating to you you should sit, and moved over by mav, squeezing in next to her.

You have Stasya and Lilya sit, while you stand behind them, a hand on each of their shoulders. “Ok, guys. These are my daughters-”

Someone audibly chokes, and there's surprise evidence on just about every face.

“Stasya and Lilya Bishop.”

“Who's the mother?” Mav asks, apparently having recovered.

At first, it's based on convenience. Kenji's getting along pretty well with Merlin, and Merlin is quite fond of Frank, so keeping them in the family seems quite like a good idea.

Then she actually meets Frank, and she's actually as close to being swept off her feet as a Sakamoto can be. She starts actually having an interest.

And that just makes it even harder for her to accept when it seems like he's not quite interested in anyone. She laughs it off with that big Sakamoto laugh, but inside she's actually aching.

And she eventually gets around to that mindset of "If I can't have him, I will make sure that whoever has him makes him happy" and begins shipping everybody in the squadron with Frank.

Not even the guy you were arguing with. Look at the archives; Look how many threads we spend on the ground waifu'ing. Compare that to how many threads we spend in a fighter, being an ace.

When was the last time we actually had to think about a dogfight? Not Crete, not Fandance-Steal, maybe Assassin Squadron at night over Poland?

Face it, this isn't a quest about being the Ace of Aces and flying fast jets and winning a war. We've got, what, one in ten threads that are actually us being a fighter pilot; that's just the background. This is a quest about waifus and waifuing, of various degrees. If you want hot jet-on-jet action, Ace Combat quest has long since filled that niche.

It is when the entire squadron is female and the overwhelming majority wants our dick. Yes, yes it is waifuing. The only ones who don't are the Twins, who already have a boytoy, Merlin, who is not for lewd, and Maverick, who has her own harem of bitches.

[x] It's... complicated.

You shrug. “It's... complicated.” You say.

“Complicated because you know if you say the rest of this lot will tear you apart?” She asks, pursing her lips.

“Complicated because we met over Crete and they gave me a harder fight than any witch at Barin managed.” You correct. “Along with a dozen other issues.”

“Right.” She says, defeated but attempting to not sound like it.

“So. Let's go over this. These are my girls, Ensigns Stasya and Lilya Bishop. Yes, that's official, you can check with legal if you want.” You say.

“Girls, this is the squadron. The talkative blonde over there, that's Lieutenant senior grade Patty Mitchell. The small one next to her, that's lieutenant junior grade Nicole Bradshaw.”

“Hi.” Goose says, kind of shyly. The two girls both look at her for a second before Staysa says hello. You nod- that's pretty damn outgoing, for them. A good sign.

“Next to them is Senior Lieutenant Katya Litvyak. She's on loan to us.” You say, grinning at the Russian witch, who sighs.

“It is not a loan, Frank.” She says. “I am where I belong, I have told you this.” You laugh- though both the girls instantly stiffen up when she talks, detecting her accent. “I am happy to meet you.” She says- they don't respond.

“They can be shy.” You explain to Katya, who nods.

>>
“The one standing over there with the beret is Pilot-Officer Wendy Maloney, assigned to us from the RAF.” You say. Wendy nods.

“Though I should like to think it's a rather long term assignment.” She says. “Hello girls. You're quite lucky, Sir Bishop is quite the individual.”

Stasysa nods, and you smile at the compliment, both from Wendy and from Stasya's vote of confidence in you. “Flattery gets you nowhere, Wendy.” You remind her.

“Drat.” She responds, causing a bit of laughter.

“The one next to them in the blue, that's Capitane de Corvette Rosalie Kent.” You say. “Marine nationale.”

“Bonjour.” She says, nodding at the girls.

“And the tall girl next to them in the camouflage shorts, that's Sho-sa Sakamoto Kimiko.” You say. “Imperial Japanese Army.” Kimiko nods- the girls both just watch her somewhat blankly, that trademark stare of theirs. For her part, Kimiko doesn't flinch away from it, returning the gaze until the girls turn to look at the stairs, where the twins are coming back down.

“And you forgot us, as usual.” Alyssa complains, looking back up at her sister, who has Joe in tow, one hand in his. “That's ok, we've met.”

I think you're wrong, mate, and I'll tell you why:

Waifuing is the /tg/ quester's main desire, because they can't get their dicks wet any other means, so they have to use fictional girls in a fictional setting for it.

I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS think carefully before voting in a combat situation. I don't want Frank dead and the war lost.

Face it, this quest is about being an Ace of Ace and flying fast jets with a coating of Strike Witches paint on top. It's only people like you that have changed that into Waifuing Witches: The Quest.

>And most of our threads are on the ground, so you have a weak argument at best for this mainly being a dog-fight quest.

Ghost didn't set this in a witch school or something. It started as a dogfight quest, will end as one or I'll be damned.

Developing Frank as a person isn't really support for dog fighting, at least not how I see it.

Does it matter for how he fights?

A little, but trolling or not trolling Slider has essentially nothing to do with a dog fight.

>>38781389
I personally think Harem isn't the way to go in this quest, but I doubt you'll believe me.

>>38781397
We've clearly passed what we started as, anon has been voting Frank different from the very beginning.

Direct Dog-fighting is still in the minority of what we've done.
>>
>>38781484
Does this actually happen? Like for real?
>>
>>38781469
Did you forget how they send witches there and have witch teachers?

even though its mixed steelwing-witch training and exercises, its still a school that has witches
>>

>I personally think Harem isn't the way to go in this quest, but I doubt you'll believe me.
No I believe you and respect you more now actually.
>>
>>38781444
You mean as soon as that witch hit us in the first thread.

>>38781513
It sadly does happen, though not often, much of the time it comes in forms you yourself are very familiar with.
>>
>>38781513
oh yes
>>
>>38781526
But it's not an ENTIRELY WITCH SCHOOL. It's mixed, sure. But it's not a witch fucking school. Witch schools are witch only places, faggot.
>>
>>38781505
>I personally think Harem isn't the way to go in this quest, but I doubt you'll believe me.
I believe its the opposite, but I respect your opinion nonetheless, I also think this argument is stupid.
>>
>>38781540
Well, glad for that then.

>>38781565
Agreed that the argument is stupid, it's all opinions.

Also, Harem isn't the worst thing that could happen, I'd just prefer a monogamy route.

Or maybe one where the girls tell Frank they want to share him.

Which is slightly different than a harem but /tg/ usually doesn't get the difference.
>>
>>38781544
Would feelthy write so much for the quest if he hated it?
>>
>>38781614
He hates the anons, not the quest, so he trolls and shitposts and provokes and antagonises Ghosts players.
>>
>>38781614
It's kind of like planefag and tangfag: They hated Strike Witches and Evangelion when they started writing their shit.
>>
>>38781614
Don't hate the game. Hate the players.
>>
>>38781596
>Or maybe one where the girls tell Frank they want to share him.
I can see that happening for some of them, though for the Big 3 not so much, I see them more going for the full harem, the rest sharing occasionally.
>>
>>38781634
No he likes making fun of waifufags cause they take the shit way too fucking seriously,
>>
>>38781634
Well just a couple, most just tends to ignore it except for those that rage so easily.
>>
>>38781634
Ghost antagonizes Ghosts players, and I really can't blame him
>>
>>38781664
Slider and Ice sharing I can see.

Perhaps an addition of Katya.

But a full harem doesn't make sense to me.
>>
>>38781208
[x] You've actually met a couple times, yeah.
I want to see how long it takes the Twins to figure it out on their own.
>>
>>38781686
That's what I mean, Ice and Slider go together naturally, and Katya likes to show off in the bedroom, though I doubt they would all be having foursomes every night, but they would not be averse to it every now and then while more regularly they have some more private intimacy with each other.
>>
[x] Might as well close out with both

You nod. “Yeah, that's true. You've met a couple times before.” You say, grinning as a look of confusion spreads on her face. “But I don't think a railgun slug really counts as an actual introduction.”

“A rail-” Alyssa's eyes narrow. “They're the fandance drivers from Crete?”

You nod. “Bingo.”

She looks at them, anger flashing on her features for a second, then fading. “Huh. Should have guessed it from China lake. Glad you're on our side now.”

“So are we.” Stasya says. “Are you angry at us?”

Alyssa shakes her head, possibly aware of the attention on her. “Shit happens, no sense in holding grudges.” She says. “Just don't go for a repeat, huh?”

Stasya nods.

“Now, if that's all sorted, we need to get them squared away in their room and make sure they've got uniforms and shit.” You say.

“Uh, Frank.” Mav says, interrupting your train of thought. “There's no free rooms, you know.”

>>
“What?” You ask. “What about the extra one over by the twins?”

“I moved into it.” Joe responds. “I mean I can move back out-”

“No you can't.” Both the twins say, in unison. There goes that.

“We'll work something out.” You say, after a second. “Anyway, anyone want to help out?”

“I'll go!” Wendy says, at the same time as Merlin and Kimiko responding with “Sure.”

You grin. “Excellent! Couple things to do and more hands makes it go quicker. Let's hit clothing issue first, that's going to take longest.”

You turn to leave, then stop for a second, letting Stasya onto your shoulders while Lilya looks both at you and Kimiko- apparently debating approaching the tall Japanese witch for a similar ride. She must have decided against it, taking your hand. “And Wendy, you're not going to get out of trouble by helping.” You say, grinning.

“Drat and other things.” She responds. Still, it's with a grin.

It's good to be back, you think. You've missed everyone. Vaguely, you wonder if Ice has managed to recover yet. You grin- you'll give her a bit longer before you go back to fluster her some more. You missed that, too.

And that's it for the night!

Sorry it slowed down there, I'm still finishing up moving in- just got the stuff hung on the walls to get all my books put up and guns hung and shit, so I'm unpacking some more boxes and finding them more mixed than I remember, haha!

Anyway, can't really think of any other news. My grandfolks should be moving in either late this week or early next, so there may be a change off of running day next week, depending on when they get here. Last I heard, they'd spent the night in Casper, Wyoming, so they may have made Iowa today. Depends on how long they stay to visit family and friends there, I guess. Shouldn't be a change for us of note other than that, though.

So that's it for the night, so till next week, guys, take care and cheers! Hopefully we'll be back on at the regular time, but if not, we'll run Thursday. Take care gents!

Frank Bishop? Yes, I remember flying against him. For all of half a minute over Berlin.

I remember the comms. The first thing I heard was someone, I think... I think Peter called it out first, "It's the Eagle!" just as he started firing on us. The panic, that utter confusion as he started tearing through us like so much paper. The screams and the crying, all whilst the seniors tried to shut down the comms. It was paralysing, hearing this sound in your ears, this clash of voices as the captain tried to rally us again amidst the sound of my squadron dying.

Here was a single plane, taking down the pride of the Soviet air forces with such speed and vigour in such a way. It was completely and utterly unbelievable. When it was my turn to get killed, I felt completely numb, I couldn't move my stick at all, I was shaking so much, I could only think of how terrifying this man was as he swung around and began moving towards me. Such nimbleness, agility. How could I match him? It was like it was decided from the start.

I looked back just as the missile warnings start screaming out from the computer. And there I saw it, a black beast barrelling away from me, snapping off almost instantly to take another. I have to thank my own fear for my life at that point, my hands were already tearing at the ejection seat.

After that, my war was very short. I landed in the midst of the battle below and was captured by a French unit and sent to a prisoner camp. I stayed there until the end of it all. Even if I had made it back home, I don't think I could have flown again, not after that. My hands were shaking for days after that moment.

===

During my time in that camp, I heard the news reports of his encounters with those two odd witch pilots. How dead he seemed to be as he was pulled out of his plane, like a ghost had taken his body for its own and left just as suddenly.

It made a sort of sense. I don't think any man could fly like that and live.
