Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you confused a dragon, arrived in Anthus, and went for a jog.

It is currently the 7th of Svarthi, in the year 936 NH.

The woman behind the desk doesn't quite seem to understand what you've said. She stares at you, mouth slightly agape, neither moving nor speaking. After a time you grow impatient, after all your reserves of vys will only hold up for so long when you have fire vatis shooting jets of flame at the wall of ice you're struggling to maintain.

Slamming one of your hands against the counter top to snap the woman out of her fear-induced paralysis, you speak. “You know Rhynian, yes? You understand the words that I am saying? The scroll which contains the vys metamagic. It's in the reserved section of your library. I wish to check it out.”

Nervously she makes her way over to a ledger, flipping open the cover and turning the pages with shaking hands. She stops at one page in particular, running a finger down the page until she find the entry she's looking for. Clearing her throat, she finally answers you with an unsteady voice. “I-it was l-last checked out by Grandmaster Albrecht Teufel. He maintains a residence in the faculty dormitories.”

Albrecht Teufel, what an exotic name. You wonder where he might be from? You've never heard anything like it before. Standing straight, you smooth out your clothing. You'd been left in a bit of disarray after your run through the city streets. “Wonderful. Where might I find these dormitories and what room is Grandmaster Albrecht staying in?”

The woman glances once more towards the ledger before answering. “The faculty dormitories are down the eastern hallway. Before you reach Hayes' workshop, there should be a door to your right labeled staff. You'll find the dorms within. He's on the third level, in room twelve.”

Turning your attention away from the woman, you note with some curiosity that your frosty barricade is no longer being bombarded. Have the bastards beat a hasty retreat in the face of your arcane might, or are they merely lying in ambush on the other side?

>>
>>38807867
I don't even remember that, but the way I pronounce his name, it sounds like 'tejfel', which means 'sour cream' in Hungarian, and that's kind of funny to me.
I wonder what place has a German naming scheme though, we've seen Arab and Greek so far, plus Basque with the dragon language, and I think maybe English with the Aelamondians, plus of course glorious Latin with Rhynia.

>>
>>38807935
Vys literally lets you control people like puppets, for one thing.
Might also improve our casting efficiency, is my guess, and maybe improve Manipulate?
It's also damn rare and an important/powerful lost(?) magic from before the fall of Rhynia.
I think it might be what's used to control beasts like they do in the place that could've been our starting location, was it the Pa'vala? Anyway, might need to be combined with Nature, but whatever.
>>
>>38807935
Its a super rare, near forgotten meta? I really don't recall if we had any grand plans for it other than manipulating Vys in other people to produce an effect.

It doesn't, Soma has answered my question that I've sent from computers I wasn't signed in on, but regardless sometimes the site doesn't even let you ask shit without a question.

I guess I'll just ask here and then copy it to your ask if it's not worthless then.
How did Mik talk to the dragon?
Did he use some magic(Nature?) to establish the connection(not counting Metal mental buff), or is it some non-specific/non-magic thing he picked up form Zahak?
Was it something instinctual, or does he think he could replicate that with others too?
Since Metal left him with "cold, unfeeling logic", could he use that state to more quickly find logical patterns, deduct things, or maybe find meaning in languages and notice patterns more quickly, maybe by sorting through the dragon's brain for emotions and using them to figure out his language?
Would making our own language help with the above? Would it being somewhat similar help(I could help with that, since I think Basque is also agglutinative to a degree and I already based my alphabet on Hungarian)?
Is talking mentally similar at all to the brooches, and did using them make it easier for Mik to learn this(if he did, that is)?
If Mik got high enough level, would it be possible to think people could be directly controlled through the brooches, in a mind control way?
>>38808240
That's close enough for me, tejfel is basically just [tɛjfɛl] or so.
>>
>>38808294
>If Mik got high enough level, would it be possible to think people could be directly controlled through the brooches, in a mind control way?
Nope because true mind control is impossible.
>>
>>38808324

>>
>>38808344

>>
>>38808396
>Close enough, when he could literally make Mik act against his will.
>literally make Mik act against his will
That's not what he was doing. It's a mind trick not actual control.
>>
>>38807703
Thanks for confirming the gate didn't increase our insanity in the ask page Soma.
>>
>>38807906
Soma if Metal is the magic of altering reality then wouldn't Earth govern the structure of reality? That would explain why Decay/Erosion is one of the uses of it.
>>
>>38808430
Wait what?
>>
>>38808556
Don't forget the mental aspects of both metal and earth.
>>38808572
http://ask.fm/Quidam_Asinus/answer/124782245947
Basically confirms that the gate didn't push us up to 5 or 6 like some anons were saying after we went inside.
i was annoyed at the time he didn't even answer if it went up and instead skirted around it
I still think we should get good at metal before even deciding on doing the gate thing, hell might even want to consider using the gate for metal GM, or meditate on the insight we got to get a clue on what it helps do for fire.
>>
>>38808428
What's the difference between a mind trick and mind control in this instance? Had Mik not asked for help he would have done what the dragon wanted even though he knew it was a terrible idea.
>>38808627
>meditate on the insight we got to get a clue on what it helps do for fire
This one, no messing with the gate or fire magic until this.
>>
>>38808556
Changing the structure of something is also altering it, anon.
And making different elements is really just changing the quantum structures, maybe making some more particles as well.
Seems to me more that Earth is chaotic while Metal is orderly, in a way.
>>
Still wanna figure out mind/soul healing with Water magic. It's been hinted at.
>>
>>38808637
>What's the difference between a mind trick and mind control in this instance?
Straight up hijacking is impossible subtle manipulation is fully possible. Remember Mik didn't realize he was being manipulated also trying to hijack someone's mind generally damages their mind.
>>38808688
Earth governs orderly structures which in case you didn't know are crystals.

Realizing you forgot to thank the woman for her help, you turn your attention briefly towards her. “Oh, and thank you by the way. You've been a great help.” She stares at you oddly, like you're some kind of mad man, but you have more important things to worry about. Namely, what awaits you on the other side of your hastily erected wall.

You meander your way across the library, coming to stand in front of the thick wall of ice. You can't see anything on the other side, the ice is solid white. Placing your hand flat against its cold surface you start to channel water magic. Immediately the wall begins to melt away, steam pouring off its surface as it rapidly melts away. Soon there's nothing left save a bank of fog, and even that is slowly dispersing.

You stride forward calmly, the mist clinging to you as you pass. You imagine it must look very dramatic, from an outside perspective. As you emerge from the bank of fog you're greeted by a crowd of perhaps forty people. Most of them are guards, armed and armored. Most wield spears, while some wield swords. Regardless, every weapon in the room is pointed at you. Of forty people in the room perhaps twelve are residents of the Academy. You count six apprentices, three Vatis, two Masters, and the Archmagos, your friend Suresh.

It's Suresh who breaks the silence, shouting in your native tongue. “Pani's tits Mikhael I thought for a second we were under attack! You know, if this weren't a magical academy you'd be liable for the damages you caused. You should count yourself lucky that we have nature vatis who can fix that door. Why would you go through all this trouble just to see the scroll of Vys? I know it's rare, but that's no reason to go breaking in doorways and attracting the attention of half the city guard!”
(1/3)
>>
>>38808748
Metal governs metals which in case you didn't know are orderly.
Consider that Earth can be used to cause insanity, which I wouldn't call very orderly, while Metal helps keep things unchanging. Earth also erodes things, which is literally destroying the order of their structure, while Metal reinforces things and helps them keep the same.
>>
You shrug your shoulders nonchalantly. “I was worried it might have been bought by the time I got here, or lost through some other means. Surely you understand that it's one of the rarest metamagics in existence, anyone would get a little excited at the prospect of learning it.”

Suresh holds up his hands in mock surrender, sighing deeply. “Look, you'll have plenty of time to study the scroll later. It's not going anywhere. Why on Earth would an academic institution like ours ever, in three hundred thousand years, part with a scroll containing instructions vital to understanding the vys metamagic? The scroll we keep in the library is just a copy to begin with, the real scroll is in a vault we keep hidden. Anyway, help me get rid of these guards. Try to act normal for five minutes.”

Unable to resist a little friendly ribbing, you frown. “Five whole minutes, Suresh? I don't know, you're asking a lot of me. I can do my best but I make no promises.”

He doesn't deign to respond, instead turning his attention towards the rest of the crowd. Switching to Rhynian, he calls out above the murmur of the spectators. “You'll have to excuse my friend, he grew perhaps overly excited upon hearing that we have a rare scroll in our library. He's harmless, really.”

One of the guards steps forward, an officer you'd guess by his armor. It's built more for form than function, the cuirass designed to look like a man's well-muscled torso. He rest one of his hands on the hilt of a sword, eyeing you warily even as he addressed Suresh. “Be that as it may, we'll still need to bring him in for questioning and fine him for distur-”

The guard is interrupted by another, this one in a tight fitting cloth jacket with all manner of patches and metals on his breast. “Bullshit! This isn't even in your jurisdiction, townie! He refused to stop at a checkpoint and so it's the Gate Guard who ought to be the ones to brin-”

Yet another man interrupts. “Oh, piss off! The Gate Guard is completely irrelevant anyway, you sorry louts have no actual power!” The speaker is a man wearing a simple steel cuirass, polished to a shine. He's holding a halberd at the ready, angled not towards you but towards the man in the cloth jacket. “He violated the peace of the city and so it's the Civil Service who ought to bring him in to be pilloried!”

Suresh clears his throat, attracting the attention of all three of the men. “Technically, the Academy of Anthus isn't actually within the jurisdiction of the city. None of you have any right to be here, let alone make arrest. Now, if you'd like my retinue can show you to the door.”

The guards whom you'd bowled over when you hurled a boulder of ice at the gates step forward to flank the Archmagos, swords drawn. The other Vatis likewise move to join Suresh. Slowly, the various branches of the city guard begin to file out of the building, led by the Academy's own guard. In your own language, Suresh confides “I swear sometimes I'm glad the fools running this city are completely incompetent. Now then, surely you haven't come all this way just to seek out a scroll, have you?”

>Mik talk to the dragon
Some races are more telepathically attune than others. Thus, they more readily facilitate mental conversation. Dragons are one such race. Thus, Mik was able to use his limited understanding of Nature magic to communicate even though normally he wouldn't be able to.

He could replicate it with other dragons, certainly. Not yet with other people. Most all Grandmaster Nature Vatis are capable of telepathy though. Some at quite long ranges.

Figuring out logical patterns and deducting things is totally something magic can help with, but it's just spending vys to enhance some aspect of yourself. It's not really a Metal magic thing.

I'm going to say that at Mik's level of Nature magic he couldn't pick a dragon's brain to learn its language, but perhaps at higher levels it could be possible.

Making your own language might give you a bonus to learning languages, I haven't really decided yet.

The brooches aren't really the same as telepathy. For one, the brooches translate the thoughts of others no matter what language they're speaking in.

Directly controlling someone with magic isn't something you can do with any known form of magic, no matter how high level you might become.

>Second of all could lead to people messing with the Void, which is not good.
How does this make people mess with the void?
As far as i can remember its tearing a chunk of our soul and adding it to something else/spell.
>>38809049
We found out enchantments last for ever, and only need vys to work.

Soma, magic question.
Is grandmaster the absolute highest you can get with an element or is it possible to go higher?
Are the theoretical higher levels restricted to more innately magical beings, like dragons or spirits?

>>38809243
I'm all for meditating on it eventually, but it isn't terribly high on my priorities
>>
>>38809100

I believe Grandmastery is more the absolute measure of skill, efficiency and effectiveness, and the highest level one can obtain.

However, there are apparently races (like dragons with fire magic and Hydras with water) that have even more control over their natural elements than say, a human or elf or Samjan. There's an upper threshold of what we're capable of.

On a complete and different note.
Guys We've increased our vys pool.
We should have our warlock armor on.
It provides us some mental fortification.
That ALONE should be reason enough to have it on. It would likely make sure we aren't looking like an assault team on A city.
Also gives us a MUCH stronger passive bonus to all of our basic stats.
Likely the same amount that we gain using vys in our rhynian armor.
Also lets us draw in VYS.
We should have enough vys that using the warlock armor will not fuck us up.
Also remember the time it fucked us up was a double meditation. Using drugs, that was KNOWN to have side effects.

You adopt a hurt tone. “What, a man can't visit his friend every now and again? I'm hurt, Suresh. I thought we had something special.”

The Archmagos laughs politely, shaking his head. “Of course I don't mind, though I would certainly prefer if future visits came with less fanfare. It's been an eventful month in Anthus, since your departure. Lord Spiros' successor has yet to be appointed, though the elections are coming up. I've also heard there have been a few riots in the lower cities due to rumors that Lord Spiros was planning an invasion of Anthus to seize power and make himself king.”

You've no doubt that one of Suresh's agents was responsible for spreading that little rumor. He's a craftier bastard than you gave him credit for, at first. “It sounds interesting, Suresh. You'll need to fill me in on all the details I've missed later. On a more serious note, I did come here for a purpose. I seek to collect on my share of the profits from Siege! and there's also the matter of some business I have elsewhere which I must see to. After that it will be back to my new Estate in El-Amin.”

Suresh raises an eyebrow curiously. “An estate in El-Amin, you say? How did you manage to sneak that past the bureaucrats? Last I heard they were as hawkish as ever when it came to tracking down signs of Aghtaki in the city.”

You grin. “Actually, it's a funny story. I managed to save the Shah's life. Almost by accident, really. He was poisoned by an assassin and I noticed whilst meditating. A friend and I managed to return him to life before too much time had passed. I'm not yet officially unbanished, but it's only a matter of time.”

(1/2)
>>
Suresh pulls you briefly into a brotherly hug, clapping you on the back. “Congratulations, my friend! The first in who knows how many centuries and millennia. I can't say I agree with the notion of returning to the corrupt society we come from, but if it reunites you with your friends and family than I'm happy for you.”

He separates from you, clapping you once more on the shoulders. “Well, I suppose I will allow you to see to whatever it is you need to see to. Perhaps later you could join me for dinner at a coffee house? I wouldn't worry about the guard, were I you. The events of the day will no doubt be forgotten as soon as the shifts change. Record keeping does not seem to be this city's strong suit.”

You express vague interest but don't really promise anything, and then the two of you part ways. Perhaps you will join Suresh later, but for now you'd like to keep your options open.

Since there's no longer a contingent of pike-wielding city guardsmen blocking your path, you make your way across the grand atrium of the Academy towards the eastern hallway. There are surprisingly few students crowding the halls today. A few lounge about on the window ledges, some reading while others nap or practice simple spells. The air smells vaguely of ozone and scorched hair.

You pass the guest quarters and the student dormitories, taking a right turn into a torch lit hallway devoid of windows. You pass a number of doors, some echoing faintly with the sound of voices. Others silent. Eventually you spot the familiar double doors of Hayes' workship. Currently they're flung wide, the sound of a hammer striking metal resounding through the largely empty hallway. On the opposite end of the hall, you see a small doorway labeled simply “Staff”. That would be the faculty dorms.

As soon as the needle protruding from your helmet slides out of your neck all of the energy seems to drain from you, but the withdraw isn't nearly as bad as it has been in the past. Where as before you'd practically collapse after being cut off from the constant flow of vys, now you're left with only a mild sense of exhaustion and discomfort. It's easily ignored, fortunately.
Far more worrisome than the withdraw is the sudden onrush of anger and regret. Your heart rate spikes and your teeth grit as the knowledge that you just stood not three feet from that rat bastard Kadir without harming a hair on his arrogant little head. Eventually the anger subsides, but the fact you seriously considered running out of your room and hunting him down to extract your revenge is in and of itself concerning.

Guys, seems like Suresh is doing well handling himself.
We should ask about an aspirations he have towards solidifying the academy's power. Or towards increasing his influence over the city it's self. And if we could help.
Having friends in high places is great.
Especially when they have a shit ton of influence.

I also want lands and Fulvia ruling them. While we adventure. But that's more a long way down the road.

Also how do you guys feel about either reading the codex or trying the
Vys Theory, Mental Fortification Using Soul: You turn the page again, as nothing seems to be happening. The figure reaches into itself and tears away a chunk of the golden ball with its bare hands, placing the torn chunk in its mouth even as ball reforms. As it swallows, its head turns to gold. Again, the tendrils attack the wispy figure's head but make no progress. You can only assume this is intended to be some sort of meditative guide, perhaps the most basic of techniques for steeling oneself against mental assault? You can't be certain.
For mental fortification, towards metal insights from now on. As master, we could gain a small passive. Then again at Grand master a bigger one. Would solve a lot of future issues, and less worrying over losing sanity short/long term.

>>
I don't remember voting to fill our sword with a ridiculous amount of vys, did soma just decide we did for some reason?
>>
>>38810998
Except seeing everthing doesn't amount to reading it.
Me showing you something and you being able to tell me every letter on the page doesn't mean you know whats on there.

You still have to read.

A better point that makes your point useless is,
we have "photographic memory" in the sense we can spend vys to remember something exactly like we saw it.
SO we can ask to see the scroll. Take a good look at it, then read from our mind later.

OR the smart thing to do. Read it and meditate on it at a later time. likely with Suresh.
>>
>>38811026
I seem to remember asking Soma about it on ask, but it may have been deleted by now.
Regardless, I know for a fact it can be learned in real life, so I assume it can be done with meditations in game too.

Wouldn't you just have to focus on the aspects of Slow and Speed and their direct causes to get the Time meta?

The way I figure it, the speed and slow effects simply affect the force and momentum or whatever of an object or an area, while the time metamagic affects something's position in time.
>>
>>38812005
Soma confirmed the vys ball shit was because of extreme conditions, and implied that we should be able to wear it comfortably for any length of time now since our vys is pretty high.
>>
>>38812027
We probably would from excess vys, side effects and sickness from the sheer amount of waste that would accumulate in the armor.

IIRC there was never any mention of the Time meta being able to reverse something, and when a GM tried to combine it with the Stop effect they got knocked out.

Using it on a single person is infinity less costly than using it on the universe or an area around you.
>>
>>38812187
Seems like a terrible idea to me after Soma said that the mental stress would accumulate and come flooding back as soon as we take it off.
>>
>>38812068
Var Var explained that away here.
Basically saying that as long as our vys pool is enough no harmful affects will come like he said here.
>>36092957
And if that means that we can't have maxed vys than just waste 4-6 vys that's enough for 2-3 hours.
>>38812103
I don't think its the insanity but the rush of the emotions from said insanity.
>>
>>38812219
It's a shame we don't know nature magic well enough to do that destressing thing the Varistha did for us.
>>
>>38812219
At least then we could contain our insanity to a time when it won't be a big deal. Like when we're alone on the road to Khemdi or something instead of when in a town or city
>>
>>38812248
>>38812219
>>38812187
You do know that we can enchant our mind before taking off the armour right?
>>

And then the insanity accumulates to a single point, and we whip out the sword and destroy a village.
>>
>>38812256
Meant to say enchant it with metal.

I just said when we're not near civilization. There is sure to be an empty area somewhere on the way to Khemdi
>>

ENCHANT YO FUCKIN' MIIIIIIIND BROOOO.

>>38812260
Like Khemdi. Actually, that's a pretty good idea. We can probably assassinate the husband with the leftover shockwave and collapse of the village's buildings. That'll be useful.
>>
>>38812270
That's more about outside influences though.
>>
>>38812290
I'm sure chrys would appreciate the destruction of her village. Either stop shitposting or stop being a retard

Its strengthens the mind, so i assume it also affects us.
>>
>>38812284
There are still plenty of self destructive things Mik could do, and with the entity in our had, I can definitely see Mik doing something like going swimming in the void or starting a fight with a dragon.
>>
>>38812324
No need to be so buttsalt, anon. If one were to suggest to Mik to use the sword at the opportune moment, and it gets the support, all you have to do is voice your counter concerns.
Ehe.
>>
>>38812270
fuck enchanting with metal.
We know the reinforce-rune already.
We have a spear that likely contains the Mind rune.

All we have to fucking do is to MEDITATE ON THAT FUCKING SPEAR ALREADY so we can use them.

You consider for a moment stopping in to say hello to Hayes and ask him about some of your artifacts, but ultimately decide to focus on the entire reason you sprinted across the city in the first place. Ducking into the door labeled staff you find yourself in an expansive, circular lounge of some sort. At the center of the room is a spiral staircase leading up to the floor above, and hallways branch off in three directions from this main atrium. Each hallway is lined with doors, which seem to be packed fairly close together.

You head for the staircase, climbing up two flights to the third floor. Assuming, of course, that the floor you started on was the first. The floors aren't exactly clearly labeled. Regardless room twelve on this floor seems to be at the very end of the hallway on your left. A small brass plaque is tacked to the door which reads 'Gr. Albrecht Teufel', affirming that this is indeed your destination.

You're not exactly sure how to go about this, but see no reason not to simply knock. Raising your fist you rap your knuckles against the wood three times. Then you wait, for what seems like an inordinately long period of time. You can hear someone moving about inside but they're not opening the door. You're about to knock again when it finally swings open to reveal the man you presume to be Albrecht Teufel.

He's incredibly old, or at least he appears to be. You can't immediately discern his race, but he's either an elf or a human. You would guess human, based on his name. He has a long white beard strung with golden bangles, tangling amongst a variety of seemingly random bits and bobs that he has strapped to his torso and stuffed within pouches. Mostly varieties of pen and ink, you think. His hair is just as long and white as his beard, the two seeming to blend together.

Dammit, where's a screen of that post of a player in morrowind being kept alive by enchanted armor when you need it.
>>
>>38812511
Oh great that's the pic I was gonna use for my MC.
>>
What little you can see of his face is cracked and wrinkled, his eyes clouded by age and half hidden beneath a thick strip of cloth he's tied around his head. A pipe dangles from his mouth, acrid white smoke curling from the bowl. Whatever it is he's smoking, it's not opium.

You question how a blind man reads a scroll.

When the old man speaks his voice is a wheeze, barely audible. “What? What do you want? Can't an old man rest in peace? God curse you, child.” There's no real ire in his tone, you're not sure the old man could get angry if he wanted to. He seems moment's away from welcoming Pani's embrace. You are pleased to find that he speaks Rhynian, although his accent is strange. The reference to a god in the singular since is likewise odd.

You bow low, touching your index and middle fingers first to your forehead and then to your chest. “I am Master Mikhael Abdul-Hakim. We haven't met, but I have traveled all the way from Pidjata to see a scroll in your possession. The scroll which contains instructions for the metamagic spell Vys. I was hoping to borrow to scroll, with your permission of course, just so I might read it and learn the methods necessary to teach myself the spell.”

The old man swats you weakly on the back of the head. “Quit your bowing, I'm nobody special.” He turns around, shuffling back into his room and gesturing for you to follow him. You do so, shutting the door behind you as you step into the room. He leads you through a small foyer into a sitting room, where a tea pot sits. Steam rises from a cup of dark tea, an open jar of honey sitting next to it with a spoon dipped inside. You also note a slice of sponge cake sitting on a small plate next to the tea set. Seems you caught this Albrecht fellow while he was having a light lunch.

He takes a seat in a large, overstuffed leather chair and eases back, sighing wearily as he relaxes. It seems just getting up and walking to the door took quite a lot out of the old fellow. Weakly he gestures to a stack of papers sitting on a desk in one corner of the room, at the top of which is a wooden tube used to safely store scrolls over long periods. You make your way over to the desk and pluck up the tube, uncapping it at one end and gently sliding out its contents.

>Eh, I was serious about it having repercussions.
Alright how would it cause these "repercussions?"
Convince me it would kill us faggot.

The Vys scroll is surprisingly short, for a metamagic scroll. You find that you can unroll it entirely all at once without it dragging across the floor. The parchment has remained in remarkably good condition over the years, but as you recall this is merely a copy of the original. It's probably fairly recently made. Perhaps because of its short length, the text is very small and somewhat difficult to read. It's been packed in very tightly, covering the whole of the document save for a single square at the very center of the parchment. The only illustration to be seen is the imperial dual-headed eagle of Rhynia.

Your inspection is interrupted by the voice of your host. “Take a seat, child. Have some tea. Tell me, why do you seek this scroll so urgently? Is there some great catastrophe you must avert? Why is it important to you?”

>Tell him politely that you're not really here for chit chat, just want to read this scroll.

Mate, even if we can safely wear the armor now, drawing in so much excess vys over large periods of time is just unnatural and is bound to have repercussions.
We're bound to take it off at some point, and after wearing it for even a week in our mental state it's bound to have some serious affects on our mind, seeing as how Soma said that sort of stuff accumulates while wearing it.
There are other physiological effects from wearing armor for long periods of time, such as chafing, lack of hygiene, heat, and probably some other stuff. Of course, we could probably take care of that with magic, but it piles up.
There's also the mental toll of dredging about in a tight metal cage covered in sweat and your own stench.
Not to mention any other side effects we don't know about.
>>
>>38813481
>We're bound to take it off at some point, and after wearing it for even a week in our mental state it's bound to have some serious affects on our mind, seeing as how Soma said that sort of stuff accumulates while wearing it.
>There's also the mental toll of dredging about in a tight metal cage covered in sweat and your own stench.
It numbs the mind moron. Also there are ways to counter mental stress. All we have to do is read Varvar's notes.
>>
>>38813567

>>
>>38813627
Come on you know what he means. It puts the world into sharp focus, with all the shit that doesn't matter slipping away. We don't get mad, we don't get distracted and we can't be influenced easily, when it comes off we need to take a second to get our bearings but it doesn't turn us into a retard or anything.
>>
>>38813592
We could always just strengthen our mind with metal before taking the armour off.
>>
>>38813643
Mik doesn't really aspire to be an assassin. Mik aspires to be the Emperor of Adventure. The man who is King wherever he goes. Because he's a prideful asshat.
>>
>>38813753
Again, I'm pretty sure that's more about outside influences.
Same reason why we can't just use metal magic to repair our sanity.
It seems like the armor just keeps unstable emotions and insanity aside and builds it up to a single point when we take it off.
>>
>>38813730
Are you sure this is what he means?
If Soma says it is, then I apologise in advance, but I doubt it is what he means by it.
>>
>>38813874
Lets just ask soma, other wise we would be going in circles.
>>38813352
Does mental fortification only protect our mind from outside influences or can it also be used to control emotions/mental state?
