You are a fighter pilot of the 501st Joint Fighter Squadron, and you're currently standing in a chilly hallway with a sobbing British witch who's curled up against the wall, her hand gripping your pantleg possessively. She seems to be restraining you instead of trying to rip your pants off, which is a novel experience for you. Said Witch just had a violent reaction to your perfectly innocent (and accurate) observation that her ass is one worth appreciating – yet she apparently desires your continued presence.

You reach down for Lynette's chestnut hair, intending to pat her head comfortingly – and then hesitate.

You'd really, really like to keep that hand on your wrist, after all.

>Fuck it. Hug poor Lynette. She knows you don't mean anything ill.
>Try to get her talking again.

You stand there, frozen in time, trying to analyze Lynette's trauma – but you simply can't. During your months in the 442nd at that foggy boggy shithole Eastchurch where you took your life in your hands with every damned landing – or that of your radio operators, given the necessity of the Lorenz beam – tension snapped and crackled through the air of the barracks and flight line in every waking moment. Everyone had their own way of dealing with it. You'd found Ian in a tent once, at 3AM – flicking a lamp on at intervals to catch rats chewing away at bait he'd laid out; at which point he'd see how many he could cork with a .22 revolver; fanning the fucking thing like a cowboy. An officer had tried to discipline him for it, until Major Luke told him to go the fuck back to bed and gave Ian a few boxes of primer-only “stingers” to handle the noise and safety issues. Your preferred method of not-fucking-thinking-about-it was to hit the O-Club and drive “Paddy” up the fucking wall, tending that warm, lustrous hate between you two like a goddamned bonsai tree. And Sean? You came across him lying in an empty engine crate at 4AM, under the lid with a bottle of Scotch – a little self-contained closet where the world had to piss off for a while. You could have slunk away and left him his privacy. Instead, you'd come back with Ian and a lot of beer, and Luke had ended up towing you back to the barracks in his personal jeep as you all sang “Drunken Salior,” the old engine crate sliding across the boggy rain-slick “ground” of Eastchurch without trouble.
>>
>>38815071
Bombers aren't built for ferrying annoying ex-battlecruisers.
>>
>>38815110

That's how you and yours dealt with the fear and the stress – like a boiler's pressure valve; when it's needed the emissions are scalding, highly concentrated and scream with a high pitch. (Or at least Ian does, because he's a bitch.) But most importantly it means that nobody's got to admit to what they're facing – they can preserve their pride, that ephemeral yet all-important measure of self-worth men guard so jealously. Some clever sumbitch once wrote that a man can live with almost any 'how,' as long as he's got a 'why'- but from what you've seen, why a man suffers can never forgive deficiencies in how he suffers. Patton might be a gigantic prima-donna blowhard asshole, but his disgust when he laid those gloves across that young solder's face in Italy was learned from somewhere – his family, his father, his educators at West Point – little by little over his military career. And for good reason – if you can fool yourself most of the time, keep from looking the big hungry darkness in the eye, you can keep calm and carry on, as the English say. And when you can't, well – there's always an engine crate, somewhere.

That's the means and methods you know – none of which can help you here. It's different for women, and especially for witches. You got along with Minna well enough... after a while... but that's because Minna's Minna – level-headed, honest, and devoted to her charges. And Sanya's just isolated, unsure and not quite as innocent as she pretends to be, you think.

And you knew them – you *knew* them. You'd fought with them, in all senses of the term, talked with them – but Lynette's always been the quiet background noise. You don't know anything about her, anything at all, and you've gone and put your foot in it.

There's only one thing you can do – one gesture that expresses everything you don't have the right words to say.

You fall to your knees and throw your arms around Lynette.
>>
>>38813309

You fall to your knees and throw your arms around Lynette.

You're not quite sure how she hits you – you didn't think it possible to put that much force behind such a dainty elbow from the fetal position, but Witch magic picks up a lot of fucking slack – and she manages to nail you right in the fucking kidneys, too; right where that fucking spider-bot punched a hole in your side. That's long since healed, but the spot's still a little tender, because it lights up your nerves like a fucking Christmas tree. The room is spinning at the speed of pain, and you feel tears of agony spring to your eyes.

well I wasn't sure how to measure that so easily but yeah. In short Sanya looks about 13-14 while Lynette looks to be closer to 17 (among the 501st only Shirley beats her in curves and she's only a year older)

Both Shirley and Lynette were my top choices, but in a way, I think it's a good thing Minna won as her ability enables her to deal with Young being "socially special"

A sense of glorious relief floods through you along with the screaming fucking agony that races down every nerve with all the social grace of Sherman's march to the fucking sea. At last, Lynette is speaking the language of Men, in a fashion that you can understand. You curl up into a little ball of pain and misery as she shoves you away and races down the hall, her stockinged feet pounding the old floorboards hard; she's in full-out flight. You watch her (truly rather excellent ass, why did she take offense?) sprint into the distance and vanish around a corner.

You're still lying there in quiet agony when someone's feet catch you in the back – right in the kidneys, again. You whimper and curl up into a ball yourself, wishing to be alone with your screaming agony for a bit – a nice exotic floor getaway for two, thank you very much.

“W'at in the 'ell is 'appen to you?” a familiar French accent cries. You roll onto your back and follow some slender, yet nicely shaped legs up to the striped panties of oh god another one let's keep rolling onto our other side and just stare at the floor from two inches away, thank you.
>>
>>38816916
Too bad disengage won
>>
>>38817244

“Come!”

“No thank you missus,” you murmur.

“I told you,” she scolds, dropping to one knee and sliding her arms under you. You hear that strange, muted ~pop~ that signals a Witch's ears and tail deploying along with their magic, and suddenly Georgette is lifting you in both arms, striding down the hall. “I told you your 'ead was in no shape for activity! But did you listen to Georgette? No!” She begins to complain at you in rapid-fire French, though you recognize a few requests to the Virgin Mother in there. She returns you to your improvised hospital bed and deposits you bodily into it. Then she takes a seat next to you, scoots up to a table, and gets out a pen. She spends several minutes filling out some paperwork.

“What's that?” you ask.

“The transfer paperworrrk,” she says, the r's still rolling off her accented tongue. “I decided to do it right away; the Wing Commander really likes paperwork!” She giggles, and continues filling out the form.

“I... yeah, lets go with that,” you murmur. “Do you have any painkillers in that medical kit of yours?”

“Oui oui,” she says. “How bad is it? Can you swallow pills?”

You turn your head to give her a blank stare. “Honey, what I need doesn't come in a pill.”
>>

>>
>>38817283

She blanches. “B-but you s'ouldn't overrruse that-”

“I've had the shit kicked out of me today,” you tell her honestly. “Please.”

She peers into your eyes for a few moments, weighing your sincerity – and then she fetches what you need. Coming to your side, she carefully snaps the glass top off a little morphine ampule, slides a needle in it, fills it, taps the air bubbles out carefully and applies it to the inside of your arm, her dainty fingers gripping you just firmly enough to keep you from wiggling as she finds the vein on the first try and gives you half the dose. You sigh with relief as the ringing in your skull subsides, and the ache in your poor abused kidneys lets up.

“Christ,” you wheeze miserably. “Thank you, Georgette.”

“Of courrrse,” she says with a smile, patting your head affectionately. “You've 'ad a 'ard day, Mr. Pilot!”

You lean back in the bed, savoring the quality of the bedsprings – you spent many months in a cot in the Eastchurch barracks, and the luxury of proper bedding is still wondrous to you, even after weeks in Barin. You hear Georgette walk to the door, her slender weight barely making the floorboards squeak, and the quiet whisper of oiled hinges.

And then the sound of footsteps coming *back.*
>>
>>38817283
Damn, we're going for morphine already? What a crybaby.
>>
>>38817317
>And then the sound of footsteps coming *back.*

You must remember that we've been repeatedly blown up, shot, stabbed etc etc.

Most of the quest has been in about two weeks or something, we're lucky to be ALIVE.
>>
>>38817317

You tense, every muscle in your body going rigid as you realize you don't know where they put your gun-belt and pistol when they half-undressed you for bed. Georgette still has a half-full morphine needle in hand – the rest of it could put you out like a light, and then... then it'd only take the pillow.

It's not crazy – not for a man who tried to throw himself on an assasins grenade this morning. You just met Georgette – and she just transferred from St. Fucking Petersburg, and now she's got a needle in her hand and she wants PRIVACY.

Of course that's fucking stupid, you tell yourself. Of course that's fucking stupid. You're just panicking because Lynette reminded you how unpredictable Witches can be while simultaneously beating the shit out of you. Even Minna – solid, dependable Minna – tried to save Sakamoto by shooting her; (according to Sakamoto, at least.) But Georgette seems... motherlike, almost, in the short time you've known her, only concerned with your health.

She's not dangerous. You focus on slowing down your breathing as Georgette's slight weight settles on the bedsprings. Said breathing increases rather a lot, focus be damned as Georgette leans over your face, downcast eyes staring at your chest.

It's cool.

She did all that lovely doctoring on you – she's not dangerous.

“Mr. Young....” she says shyly. “Can I ask you a question?”

IRL it's supposed to dull your awareness of pain, resulting in you not noticing said pain. In turn, this gives you the impression that you aren't in pain. SHERMAN DID NOTHING WRONG
>>
Remembering that an unasked question is what prompted Lynette to flee from you in tears, before trying to kick the absolute shit out of you earlier, you shrink away from the hovering witch, fear pulsing through your veins. She's got you where every witch wants you – too doped up to fight back, and sprawled out half-dressed in a bed. Trying to fight back now is just asking to get the rest of that ampule jammed into your fucking neck – all they'll find of you is your boxers, six miles away in the woods. You've got to bide your time and strike when you've got the chance.

“Sure,” you rasp through your dry mouth. “Go ahead.”

Georgette clutches one fist to her chest, her eyes falling even further from your eyes as her cheeks flush slightly. “Ah... w'en you – I mean, I don't know which one of you, if it was the Wing Commander or what, but -” she seems to curl up on herself a little now, shrinking from your eyes - “when... whoever it was proposed, how did you do it?”

>>
>>38818392
Who bets that Patton is the master of ceremonies?
>>
>>38818335
He was an aggressive moron who got a lot of troops killed for no good reason whatsoever.

The defense of the Philippines, he fucked up. He proposed a plan to make the Philippines a fortress that could hold out for several months until the Navy could relieve him. He then made all his forward deployments before he actually got the troops and equipment to reasonably do this: because of this, when he finally fell back to Bataan, he was missing a ton of rather important supplies. There's also the little matter of having let all the B-17s get shot up on the ground.

He also pursued a number of unnecessary islands, bleeding American manpower to little purpose.

Then, upon the liberation of the Philippines, he took half the troops which were supposed to be liberating Luzon, and used them to take the outlying, unimportant islands. As a consequence, the troops on Luzon took terrible casualties trying to dig out a larger force of entrenched Japanese soldiers in mountain fortresses.

The final idiocy I can name offhand is his proposal to nuke China to solve the Korean War.

*Courtesy of MacArthur's PR machine, the US population was in love with MacArthur, even as his troops called him "Dugout Doug".

Shouldn't hurt, the "don't take with alcohol" warning seems like boilerplate more than an actual risk to me. Naproxen is basically extra-strength ibuprofen, nothing neurological at all (unlike opiates and the like), so it shouldn't have any serious interactions with alcohol.

Worst-case scenario, you wind up with some gastrointestinal unpleasantness, maybe an ulcer down the line.

Of course his troops liked him, he was the fairest general in the Air Force. He fully believed in meritocracy; he didn't care who the fuck you were if you could do your job. He was a big proponent of desegregation, and I believe had the first black USAF staff officers on his staff. In the age of Gloryhound Tyrants who only gave favor to their sycophants, he was someone who actually earned respect.

Rumor has it that, with the first paragraph in mind, he only joined George Wallace's campaign to sink it. He knew he was really distasteful to the American public at large, so by signing on as Wallace's VP he turned away a lot of potential voters.

To be fair, the South technically started the war by firing on Northern forts and ships. It's not the North's fault it went Full-Roman on the South and made it remember the agony of its defeat for over 150 years because of how butthurt it got over it.

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Each state that joined the CSA declared their independence through their state governments, and no power to allow or deny this was ever given to the federal government, so yes, their secession was quite legal.

And hell, they also started the war by firing on Ft. Sumter.

And they still had slavery. I mean, they were pretty much ALL in the wrong there.

They didn't have "diplomatic relations" in the sense of actual recognition; they just permitted the CSA's agents to operate without being arrested.

The Union slaves do not change the fact that the South basically seceded out of a fit of a "Lincoln's going to take away muh slaves!" paranoia, despite the fact that he was unlikely to have ever done such a thing if it were not for the Civil War.

And, as stated, no major state ever recognized the CSA as a state with a true embassy. That's what counts.

They've only just barely met them, but going from first impressions (and not counting Brigitte) they like Wendy and Slider, they're kind of attracted to Psychomoto as a big sister type figure (This is because of Merlin, whom they do view as a sister of sorts). They're ambivalent towards Ice and Mav, they think they could be friends with Goose, they're not sure about Rosalie, they don't like Katya.

>>38819784
Africa is generally neutral in the scheme of things- it's too out of the way for either side and there's nothing there that wouldn't take too long to use to be worth deploying troops. While a lot of the north african nations are more or less soviet aligned, they're not willing to jump in with any kind of force. South America is the same way, though Brazil is leaning heavily toward NATO and may join in properly, especially if it looks like the USSR is losing.

Cuba is still run by Castro- though he's not crazy enough to do much but posture and occasionally threaten. Homestead AFB is still there and manned, and on high alert (Which is actually a point of contention, there's three squadrons there and a pair of witches that'd be real useful in the ETO.)

>>38819847
Joe was upstairs with the twins, though it is something Frank will have to do.

>>
>>38820217

>>
>>38820217

There is really zero reason for Ghost to do any kind of reboot/retcon, especially since he's put so much effort into them being in the same universe.

>>38820278
Really, there isn't any reason for it to be in the same universe besides witches.
All the characters that require a connection to Strike Witches Quest could just as easily be disconnected and rewritten without losing much.
Besides, connecting himself to a universe that still has a quest running just makes keeping it canon a bigger hassle then it is, especially with people like that anon who wants to fuck up the canon connections as much as possible.

>>38820405
BTw during Surgery did they remove more Tomcat fro Frank?

How much does he have left?
>>
>>38820393

Yep, pretty much. there's a major deep-seated mistrust there (I wonder why... hahahaha!) that makes them predisposed to not liking anyone with a Russian accent. That said, they'll listen to Frank, so if he trusts her, she must be Ok, right?

Merlin talked Kimiko up heavily- Lilya thought it'd be ok to ask, since, you know, Merlin thinks so much of her and all. She changed her mind, just because she wasn't sure.

They're working with their own set of prejudices, really. Inside Spellcaster they've been presented with consistent evidence that either Frank breaks the mold- or that the march of technology is rapidly redressing the historical imbalance between conventional platforms and witches- and even there, there's some measure of disbelief he's as good as he is, and that a lot of it rests squarely on Merlin. Outside spellcaster, mostly, the belief is that it's *entirely* Merlin, which is why the matrons are so interested in her, and are getting support from the military in finding out what's going on.

Outside NATO- he's just a boogieman. The limited soviet propaganda that does deal with him claims it's not one pilot, but a whole unit that's all flying the same aircraft to demoralize the soviet witches and aircrews, and that they've lost dozens of planes to keep up the charade.

At the unit level, it depends. to units in the west, he's not only very real, but he's fucking terrifying. to units in the mideast, eh, it's just rumors and hearsay. In the far east, where there's survivors of Alaska, he's not only real, but most of them have seen him at one point or another- and are very glad he's been spotted far away.

not many, actually. You've personally been involved with most of them. The majority of the bodies the line units have lost has been to rear-area units that, for some reason, are untouchable, despite being at strength and equipped with the best soviet money can buy.

Wait, I'm kind of confused about this

>here's some measure of disbelief he's as good as he is, and that a lot of it rests squarely on Merlin

So Spellcaster believes it's mostly Merlin that makes Frank's plane do crazy shit?

Also I thought Ice's theory that it's not just Merlin, was kind of proven in Barin by the Matrons considering their test kept hitting dead ends/

Also where is the new witch that was assign to us

>Outside NATO- he's just a boogieman. The limited soviet propaganda that does deal with him claims it's not one pilot, but a whole unit that's all flying the same aircraft to demoralize the soviet witches and aircrews, and that they've lost dozens of planes to keep up the charade.

I think that will be more frightening that their are multiple piltos that can take down witches despite the losses. Wouldn't that backfire?
>>
>>38820721
Do you really enjoy dealing with the witches then or at least grown to enjoy the witch element?

Was the 80's action movie tone intentional?

Did Merlin ever have romantic feelings for Frank?
>>
>>38820721
So how bad are the complications now regarding the bits of tomcat inside him now?

What do they do with the bit of the tomcat they do remove? I imagine someone decades from now would sell it as some sort of memorabilia
>>
And post 600! Good job everyone!
>>
>>38820741

Oh! jeez, sorry. misread that, my bad.

Not too many. There's been a couple here and there. The soviet's biggest draw is that witches are treated more fairly there, but that's really not much of a draw- and remember this is the late 80s USSR, so things aren't that great in there, compared to in the western world.

>>38820771

Didn't I just answer that? Yeah, for the most part. There's aspects I don't enjoy, of course, but they're part of the territory regardless, so whatever. And no, i don't intend to elaborate on that. But I wouldn't have started this if I didn't want to work with witches.

Yes, it was, actually.

She held some early on, and still has some, but for the most part she's at peace that that's not something that's going to happen.
>>

One early.
>>
>>38820796

They're of 'minimal concern' currently.

They tend to just discard them, though there's a small bottle of them in NAVHOS pearl.
>>
>>38820558
>Outside spellcaster, mostly, the belief is that it's *entirely* Merlin, which is why the matrons are so interested in her
Isn't the sisterhood fucking completely aware that men can have weird passive bullshit magic? This was a point point in DWQ when Young was finding out about all things gnomey.

I understand typical witches are more common but when you have 2 weirdos doing weird magic that shit's on physical laws like momentum why be so fucking stuck on the assumption that it CAN'T be the dude?

Are traditional sisterhoods secretly butthurt that men are sparkly so much that they just kind of try and pretend it doesn't exist?
>>
>>38820839
>She held some early on, and still has some, but for the most part she's at peace that that's not something that's going to happen.

Rather surprised she did held romantic notions, any other witches or people feel the same way as Merlin towards Frank?

Also the ones who defectors towards Russia were witches?
>>
>>38820931
>Are traditional sisterhoods secretly butthurt that men are sparkly so much that they just kind of try and pretend it doesn't exist?
Wasn't this pretty explicitly addressed in SWQ vanilla? IIRC that's almost exactly it. The Sisterhoods realize that their sparkles have allowed them to maintain a hold on power that they wouldn't most likely be able to have otherwise (because women in history) so they try to keep it hush hush and...pressure anyone who tries to officially talk about male magic

of course I could be rabidly misremembering, so take that how you will
>>
>>38820988
You are rabidly misremembering.

>Africa is generally neutral in the scheme of things- it's too out of the way for either side and there's nothing there that wouldn't take too long to use to be worth deploying troops.
But there are still local conflicts in Africa (i.e. South Africa versus all of its neighbors AND its own native African population) that could merit the mercenary witches concept that some anons touted way, way back?
>>
>>38820988
I just figured there's a difference between knowing something, keeping quiet about it for your benefit and pretending something doesn't exist so hard that you look away when it's staring you in the face.
>>
>>38820988

you are not. this was told to us at barin in both swqs.
>>
>>38820931

they're aware, yes, but most gnomery is like, say Young's- he can do magical shit with machines, but he can't tell physics to get completely bent, he's still gotta play inside some of the rules. For the most part, the impression that Frank's about the same- he's got some talent with jet planes, sure, but there's no possible way he's able to do what he is, and most of it is coming from Merlin.

And it's like changing any long held 'rule' man, there's people that will straight up ignore proof against it. Look at... shit, IDK. Look at creationists, there ya go. It's kinda like that. Kinda. (that's a really bad analogy)

and they're not butthurt- they're scared. Witches have this impression that as soon as they're surpassed, they'll be second class citizens, at best. this is gradually being reinforced, ironically, by witches like Merlin and Davis, who aren't able to do anything 'traditionally' witchy, but if you partner them up with technology, are downright terrifying.

>>38820932

Not really. Merlin had a HUGE hero-worship complex, still kinda does.

Probably, though very few. to be honest, I never really thought about that as a detail, but I don't see why there wouldn't be a few, since everyone's got their own motives and drives and such.
>>
>>38820931
>Isn't the sisterhood fucking completely aware that men can have weird passive bullshit magic?
Ice mentioned it to Frank several times. It seems to have become somewhat well known, likely due to Young. The sticking point is that Fronk's physics-defying bullshit is atypical of male magic, and retardedly powerful by comparison to the norm. The matrons' theory is that it's from Merlin acting as some kind of amplifier (or maybe accelerant?) to Fronk's gnomery.
>>
>>38821131
Wouldn't the fact that Soviet Propaganda mentions several people are playing as Frank kind of backfire. I'm sure there is some footage of him flying like he does and if several people can fly like that wouldn't that be bad for them?
>>
>>38821297

is clever western ruse, comrade. that was many planes, not just one. they just all look the same, to of foolings us.
>>
>>38821131
Is there concerns justified for such thoughts? Also how do Soviets treat witches compared to the west in which Soviet treatment is 'better'?

To them? absolutely. Technology is being advanced enough now to allow a witch to shield an airplane or tank, for example, and it's not too far fetched to see witches used as little more than shield batteries. Witches in tubes, as it were. Similarly, there's a kind of underlying fear that they've been 'on top' for so long that a fall has to come, and that if they don't want it to be catastrophic, they have to do something to prevent it.

In reality, it's nothing like that. A witch is still, in terms of combat ability alone, an incredible asset, and one that's not likely to be matched, even with cutting-edge tech. even once they are matched, it's a lot less expensive to get a witch into the field than it is to build a next-gen fighter or tank or whatever, train it's crew, and get it into the field. the covens are likely to hold a lot of political and real-world applicable power for a long time to come.

The USSR's history with witches is... complex. I'll do a writeup with a pastebin for the next thread, if you're interested. it ties in, though, I promise.
>>
>>38821480
Is there an active effort by the military to push witches towards powering tanks/planes and out of active roles?

yes pls ghost.

also >>38820673
>>
>>38821391

Stasya and Lilya haven't had airplane rides, just regular piggyback rides, and they take turns with those.

Merlin is kinda glad they're around for that though, since it means she isn't suddenly subjected to airplane rides.

>>38821523

Nope. They've asked for volunteers, but there's been no concerted drive for it.

Rather than putting a Witch in a tank or plane to give them shields, has there been any development to make the Striker systems bigger or require less magical power to operate?

In short, instead of putting a Witch in a tank to make her into a shield battery, make a Striker into a Mobile Suit/Heavy Gear type of power armor.
>>
>>38821480
>it's not too far fetched to see witches used as little more than shield batteries. Witches in tubes, as it were
I definitely picked up on that in tonkers 89, yeah, but your points against that are about on the ball.
Hell if anything it'll increase their influence- witches like Merlin and Davis, who were previously worthless to them politically and militarily, are now capable of crewing potent vehicles without taking away from striker-capable witches
>>
>>38821631
I think Merlin's tech is kinf of pioneering it.
>>
>>38821523
doubt it though. yes, a witch would be a great asset in a CATTB or sime other vehicle but as of yet, theres nothing that will be matching the combined package of firepower, staying power and mobility of a witch in strikers yet.

it might be good to have a few witch piloted vehicles in elite unit but theres nothing that units of regular witches back up by conventional units cant do.
>>
>>38821661
>>38821637
Yeah. Witch vehicles provide a way for witches who can't use strikers to remain in the fight, and they're still witches. Whether that's because they're missing a leg like the sherktwin or because they could never operate a striker, it's a wider field.
>>
>>38821631

this guy >>38821645 is absolutely on the ball with it. The funny part is Merlin's interest in that is because of her 'disability'- she wants to make tech that can operate to enhance a witch, not tech that is completely reliant upon the witch. It's not exactly a new field of work, of course, but Merlin is pushing it harder than most in the past have.
>>
>>38821637
>>38821645
>I think Merlin's tech is kinf of pioneering it.
Merlin's tech is mostly making magic-detecting sensors and magic-powered storage.
I don't know if they can be leveraged into a Striker system that uses conventional powerplants to make up for the reduced magical output of Witches who can't use regular Strikers, like Merlin and Davis.
>>
>>38821695
Macross exists in this world, so I assume Mobile Suit Gundam also exists.

Are they, with their piloted mecha, seen as the science fiction future of Striker systems, with Witch main characters?

Or are they seen as male wishful thinking, with men in Mobile Suits/Battloid-Mode Valkyries fighting on par with Witches in Space Strikers?
>>
>>38821769

Bit from both columns, really, depends on the character. an example would be how Roy Fokker and Max Stirling are both depicted as every bit as good as their witch counterparts, or how Char and Aumro (I always misspell that) are better than witches, while your average mook is far inferior to them.
>>
>>38821686
It's probably less that the skerk with the missing leg can't use a striker (since it's not like the whole leg is gone), and more that she's got a fear about them, and the sister with both legs intact doesn't want to leave her behind.
>>
>>38821830
Funny thing is, I imagine a lot of witchs dying in Tomino's work in Gundam.

Also speaking of tv shows, wasn't Talespin a new show in 1990? Never expected Frank to like those types of shows, then again he likes Star Trek.
>>
Pretty sure this was answered before but when Frank was dating the bimbo how did they break up?

Yep! she pulled a Bader after that and went into pilot training. While it was strange, it's not unheard of, and she passed (Predictably, given there's no standards for a witch and she was judged under the standard criteria) in the top 1% of her class.

>>38822180

Yes and no, there's power armor projects going, but so far, they're all either too draining to be of much use in combat, or too bulky and hard to use.

>>38822211

About that.....
>>
>>38822271

>>
>>38822271
>Yes and no, there's power armor projects going, but so far, they're all either too draining to be of much use in combat, or too bulky and hard to use.
What kind of advances would magitech power armor (Exo Witches?) need to be viable? Infantry-portable powerplants to complement the Witch's own magic? More efficient foci to increase the Witch's own endurance? Better materials for the armor itself?
>>
>>38822340

Power sources are the big one- between powering the armor and powering shields and weapons, a witch is drained fast by full-body suits. Similarly, the armor on them isn't worth enough to be worthwhile. Currently the max level of overall protection they've got is rated to small arms, so a witch still is forced to use her shields for protection most of the time. Advances in both fields are ongoing, but nothing has really reached a point to make full body poweramor a better alternative to what's already available.

And is this is what their hoping what Merlin might create?

Aren't Matrons interested in Merlin because they can imprve strikers?
