Rolled 68 (1d100)

Last time we switched between characters which resulted in a drinking contest, puking on a hot chick, chasing faeries, making friends, and finally at the very end tears flowed along with nightmares.

and so the tales of a street rat turned student soldier continues.

When we do go back to the male mc we should have him focus on just the combine. With the lack of leaders we need to start making them more unified now.

Again, remember the inherent difficulties of uniting the Combine.

They require a common enemy.

I suggest we seek on giving them that common enemy, while making opportunities to show why we should be trusted
>>
Rolled 49 (1d100)

>>38818643
but anon they DO have a common enemy.

aka the Republic.

Whom they all can agree to...which is also pretty much the only thing they can agree on.

You get up and throw some blankets on her before going back to bed.

When you wake up later and hear some painful moans with some loud noises followed by a strange 'pomf' sound then silence.

When you looked over you noticed the female soldier is in a huff while the wounded guy apparently got smacked in the face by thrown pillow missile.

Rather good/loud one too considering the surprising amount of noise. After that she went back into the kitchen while he removed the pillow and cursed.

"What was that for!"

"For being a wimp."

"I got my ass shot and then kicked give me a break..."

"Doesn't give you an excuse to lounge around and be lazy."

"Oh come on a little breakfast in bed never hurt anyon-OH GOD IT BURNS."

For a second there you thought nothing happened considering the brief blur. It turned out your eyes weren't tricking you as across the screen you noticed a figure shouting in pain.

"What the fuck was that for?"

"Well you said breakfast in bed never hurt anyone."

"You used to be so much nicer when you were younge*splash* OH GOD THE COLD."

That was when you noticed the girl set down an empty pitcher before grabbing a stand with three plates and drinks from when she than approached. Setting one plate and drink down on the stand next to you before setting the stand on the other table all the while ignoring the moaning before hopping on to the bed.

"Quite your moaning will you trying to watch the game."

"Why don't you eat on the couch?"

"I like to watch you suffer. Besides need to keep an eye on you considering your wounded."

"....Then WHY did you do those things?"

"Because you annoyed me but that doesn't mean I wont still care for you."

"You have a funny way of showing tha-YOUCH."

"You gonna continue?"

Que some sad pitiful moaning while nodding with a no before commencing to stuff his face hoping it will spare him.

Sadly it did not followed by some more pained yelping followed by some orders and bickering going on between the two.

You decide to eat at a table...which was more a countertop really considering that on the other side is the kitchen.

When you got there and sat down you could hear the whirring of what you guess is the dishes being cleaned.

For the most part those two seemed to get along well...if a lot of pain wasn't involved in the process. Still though the girl seemed to be taking care of the guy even feeding him between sessions of inflicting pain on him.

Not sure what that is about but you think if she really did care for him she wouldn't make is life so painful while 'helping' him.

After they both get done eating you noticed that she got up first gathering the dishes and heading towards the kitchen to put them away. The guy meanwhile was about to get dressed until he realized your presence, then he cursed before grabbing a change of clothes before heading towards the bathroom. That was when you heard the shower start up.

The girl meanwhile once she was done putting it away coolly headed towards an interface popping it out and messing with some wires. After that she headed towards her dressing...that was when you heard the guy scream.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HOT WATER!"

For which she calmly replied with an uncaring expression "Ladies first." She said this while heading towards the bathroom with a strange rod.

"BAH maybe when you PROVE to be a lad-oh shit." That was when you heard the crackle of electricity followed by some screaming. She later exited the bathroom with a smoking rod crackling with power.

"You finished or do I need to do it again?" She stated while putting the electric baton back away.

"Fine...fine have mercy. Zapping me when I am wet so messed up," with that he exited the bathroom dressed and...hair rather spiky.

Just as he exited she coolly slid passed him into the bathroom and shortly after you could hear the shower start up.

The guy meanwhile sat down on the couch before talking to her.

"You gonna join her in the shower or be late?"

Well... If we want to unify the combine to fight a common problem. That problem is time, and space.

Look up at the stars, there and so manny. But in time them and there planets will be filled. But who will fill them? Will it be us? Not really. The republic grows to fast and is too stable. One day every star in the heavens will be theres. Unless we stop them. But we can't. We are too divided, so we need a way to make all in the combine unite. We need something urgent soon to thrust us in to the position of leader of the combine. Or a council in the combine. We need some kind of unified leadership. I'll come up with something later
>>
With enuf officers our military can be way more effective.
Or with our officers being out of harms way...
In this setting is there a way of real time communication regardless of distance?

What if we made robot officers that the real officers control from the safety of combine space? They would control them using some kind of mind link like in avatar.

You upon realizing your gonna run late decide to risk it and headed towards the bathroom.

So you slipped in...and carefully made sure to say Lillian. Her shadowy and misted figure took pause before saying "Come on in." So you slipped in and unexpectedly she ordered to you wash yourself handing you some soap, then she started washing your hair.

You were in shock for a brief second before you started to rub yourself down while she took care of your hair. That was when she eventually spoke.

"It is against certain rules to speak of what happens to first years but as you are chosen by her just as we were I we'll let something slip where it wont so easily be found out. So here it is new years are all targeted by everyone in the beginning due to their special value. Once you get initially crushed they tend to lay off as your value abruptly drops...however if you are able to survive your value will increase until eventually you are finally crushed. For those like yourself who are adopted your point growth will instead go to your benefactor. However it is never worth the trouble just they themselves will be targeted and there is only so much they can do."

"If by some miracle you survive your points will be added onto it. Consider this period of time a special testing and vetting process in addition to the usual shit the newbies are put through. It is said there are special rewards for surviving for any duration...also your fellow first years will not be your friends. As they too will be rewarded for any trangressions they commit against each other but also advanced years."

"However good luck with screwing over the advanced years as they are much better established."

With that you were let go.

That put a stop to it. It seems this place is ruled my strength. Maybe we will get lucky and someone will team up. Problem is until next year, I'm assume, there will be eyes on us, if we keep on winning. Any friends made are risk, we may have to save them (granted they could save us) or once we hit a point they betray us for gaining more points of their own.

Which I find it to be a problem. Most things live better with groups, but here we are having to fight against that. I can get making the strongest soldiers possible, but dam this one of the reasons why there is team work problems.

... maybe our rich guy can break the mold or the girl can kick so much ass people have to respect us to avoid back stabbing.

Now who just says we're gonna make friend eh?

When we were in street gangs, we didn't join up because we were "friends", hell that normally came later if at all and we often still hated each other.

We joined our gangs for one reason: survival

When everyone looks out for themselves and themselves alone, it's much easier for someone bigger or some other group to pick us off one by one. In a gang however, we stand together so that WE can pick on the other guys and not the other way aronud.

Sure there's always a chance someone is gonna stab you in the back, and we still probably hate each other, but it's no different than what we saw on the streets.

I suggest we go find and make our own gang. Find suitable persons to beat senseless and press to our service, or find someone else being picked on and then beat up whoever is beating them up (and get both of them to join).

If one person is rewarded for one transgression, imagine the points a group of first years can get picking on even more people.

The Combine gets its strength in leadership and organizing groups who hate each other to hate a common enemy more. As a commander in the future we're going to have to learn to do the same and whip up entire groups of combine into one force against bigger and badder targets. Better start practicing with first years while we can

Rolled 67 (1d100)

>>38845932
I like this action. The combine want officers who know how to get people who hate each other to work together so we might get good points here if we do that.
>>
>>38845777
>>38845932
You should keep in mind that after someone is 'crushed' or 'broken' then they stop accruing points.

So the crushed and/or broken will have slightly less incentive to betray us or each other because they won't gain large immediate benefits but you guys all know Genie's a dick with NPCs so they're going to hate us without a chance of us changing that.
>>
>>38846196
Them hating us might actually be a good thing if we still manage to keep them in line. Eventually we gotta learn how to organize people who despise us and each other cause that's what the combine is.

People who hate something else more than they hate each other or the leader

Pretty good actually not much in an official capacity or training but you know the basics and how to fight real dirty.

So you got out of the shower got dressed and then headed towards first year female quarter.

You were not expecting to run into a rubble strewn bloody former warzone once you entered the first year section. You could still see a few fires even at the barracks...so you kept on until you entered a gym that has been freshly washed with blood...and there you see the remaining first years female students who somehow managed to survive the first night.

Granted many of them were rather wounded but there you go. They all of course gave you glares of pure evil your way...and you also realized that apparently you weren't the only adopted as there were a few others who were amazingly clean/intact as yourself.

There you all lined up and awaited the instructor who eventually showed up. Peered at you before saying the following magic words.

"You are free for your first week. after your first week you may attend whatever classes if you are able up to oh few months."

"Good luck surviving kiddies."

With that the instructor left and everyone wasn't quite sure what to do. A few students though collapsed apparently having struggled to remain upright and waiting for so long.

Most of the other students though peered around and those like yourself after looking around started to leave. The others however looked rather lost...

but they too started to scatter.

What do?

>Make a run back to the officer quarters
>Try to find Lillian
>Talk to someone(who?)

Thinking we kick blood on to her to blind or whip it from our wounds, it that will work. ( Otherwise we got clothing as a fall back.) Rush in and cause pain, so much pain she can't fight. Go for hitting the ears, eyes, neck, chest and/or groin

>Other?

This is NOT the first time someone's pulled a knife or shot us. And damn if it won't be the last.

We've had FLAME blades jabbed into our flesh. A ripper round pull of chunks of leg our (I really hate that scar),

But a knife and gun makes people focusing on using their arms to protect and attack. They often forget about whats below. Let's see if what we did then works here

>Sherlock Holmes thinking voice
>Feint with a strike
>Lower leg swipe to knock down
>Then foot to dislodge weapons from hand
>Tackle and wrestle down

>GREEN FATEPOINT

>So you tackled and wrestled down sadly she brought up her gun and shot until it was dry(luckily weren't too many bullets left)

Weaken her more. Hit her in the vagus nerve on the neck. That should cause a good amount of pain. If that is not looking easy, knock the wind out of her by going for the solar plexus or rib shots.

>>38857721
Fighting dirty only goes so far, she's been able to fight dirty as well. Plus side we've shown we can use our legs against her, lets do that as well.

She's accustomed to pain, so are we, but all the pain tolerance isn't going to let your lungs breathe again without a working diaphragm from a good knee there. Nor will it help if your arm is being crushed by another knee.

Use every bit of our body to deny her movement, an arm only works if the bone can provide a lever, and bones can be snapped.

A punch to the throat can close it and knock their breathe out if they tried.

Don't win by trying to destroy your enemy in full, win by destroying their ability to fight, then you can decide their fate.

You attempt to wrestle her down aiming to deny her movement and inflict pain. Unfortunately she manages to grab onto the knife in your leg and starts wrenching it around while her other hand goes for your throat.

She also attempts a head bash which got your chin pretty well luckily you avoided the head smash.

You meanwhile also attempt to knee her but you can feel your strength draining away. Too many holes and cuts holy shit that knife moving all around in your leg hurts like a motherfucker.

Alright due to my rapidly worsening medical condition I am gonna try to post the rest of my system while I still can.

First off for stat modifier meanings.

Anything above or below 5 will offer a bonus or penalty.

The penalty if percentage ranges from 1-5.

Otherwise bonuses in general follow the following.

minor +/-5
Lesser +/-10
Moderate +/-20
Major +/-30
Massive +/- 50

So that takes care of the previous stats and stat sheet. As for dice rules and mechanics what I have yet to explain so as to be a usable format?

And no I wont offer my setting info it would take forever and I am still improving on it. Just trying to reveal everything I can while I can because holy shit is my health rapidly declining in a increasing scary speed/fashion.
>>
>>38893208
How do you calculate degrees of success/failure from your dice combo interactions?

Explain some of your dice combo interactions.
>>
>>38893825
Dice DC a degrees its every time its above or below by 10.

So if you only rolled a 23 and the dice DC was 40 you only have 1 degree of failure.

Partials don't count nor do they round up or down.

Dice combo example would be a MAD action and you roll say a 33.

MAD declares said 33 counts as TWO rolls of 33 attached to the same action.

Possible dice combo for random event would be a 76 and a 67 are rolled in a row. This would mean that the event would go down as a two in one special.

OR say you have a special type of action that had a 56 then you also rolled a 55, 44, 98, 99, 87, 88, and a 52.

52 is combo breaker.

Depending on the action however you may only get to enjoy so much so lets say an faction A used Chaos on faction B but then faction B rolled the above.

SO despite the rules of limitation they get broken due to CHAOS. Sadly this would mean it would backfire on the Faction A because now Faction B is enjoying a dice combo made possible by chaos.

And guess what faction B was rolling for?

Defense.

Chaos affect fucks up the initial rolls allowing for Combo to take place. In addition its suffering a chaos affect. Chaos effect works by nullifying law and order. This means the...initial limitations may be removed or twisted.

So Faction B now has Double average, double 1 degree minus, counter plus, Double 4 positve degree, stacker plus 3, double 3 positive degree, and finally combo break average.

Now Faction B was working on fortifying when they got hit by the chaos effect...which means they lose control over 'how' it will be done.

The orders that went through? Didn't go through as they should instead ending up chaotic.

In fact if its bad enough they may even lose their action that was meant for fortifying...now HOW is this done you ask?

IF the action was basic it would mean their basic action became randomized luckily for faction B the fortifying action was under their War action they have thanks to a hero who couldn't stop the affect.
>>
>>38894246
Sadly...their war action got lost control of meaning it too became randomized but in a war capacity...as in instead of defense.

Faction B's forces decide to ATTACK due to Chaos effect.

This initially went pourly...but then due to combo affect their enemy was caught completely offguard and worse yet chaos started to ALSO spread among their ranks.

Why you ask?

Because CHAOS doesn't follow the rules.

Literally.

Everything under Chaos effect is considered PURELY random based off whatever its attached to or affecting.

Now the enemy is suffering a chaos effect on their own forces....and their hero is exhausted from earlier so is unable to do anything this turn. This means it cannot be stopped until next turn.

NOW for the special DOUBLE UP chaos effect.

Guess what this means?

The affect is doubled or divided by 2 depending on whether it was rolled above or below then rolled again.

Meaning that as a 1st roll was a 55 average?

The chaos war action got doubled. Meaning it now counted as TWO war actions! One of those of which got mistaken for a false attack order that while went poorly but still managed to spread chaos affect onto the enemy ain't that bitch?

because CHAOS.

So lets say the other freely acquired war action was then spent trying to take advantage but uh oh!

44.

The effect doesn't take in fact faction B's forces not only leave their forces for dead but lock them out!

Now however those factions are still aflicted wit chaos just as the enemy is.

then a 99 comes into play despite the rough start faction B's forces start to REALLY kick some serious ass and due to the chaos effect the enemy is unable to enjoy any command or leadership effects...ouch.

Meanwhile those back in Faction B base are enjoying a 99 on defense allowing them to do some insane shit...too bad its utterly fucking chaotic.

On the plus side free maze which will cause the enemy no small amount of pain and misery should they try to take.

Fucking labyrinths are a bitch.
>>
Rolled 33 (1d100)

>>38894427
Now however the other combo affect is kicking in...so what does this mean?

87 and a 88?

It means yet MOAR chaotic success for BOTH of those actions!

Which is finally broken by the 52 at which the chaos affected action is now ended and Faction b is freed of its affects...alas the enemy isn't just yet.

So faction A is now REALLY regretting unleashing the chaos affect on the enemy because it utterly backfired on them...meanwhile Faction B consider themselves a bunch of absurdly lucky assholes.

SO you see how special actions can do all sorts of crazy shit?

Chaos by the way isn't considered MAD because unlike MAD while you are able to...somewhat put a reign on it chaos is rather uncontrollable/unpredictable.

In exchange for mad affects and you can somewhat guide it however you are unable to break certain rules.

A true Chaos action is special in that it can ignore rules...if it suffering from a CRAZY booster to it.

Otherwise it still must follow the rolls...except its entirely randomized. So long as its not outright breaking certain rolls it has to be allowed.

Crazy Chaos is special in that its a combination of the two...while you can't guide it for shit it is capable of now breaking the rules.

Obviously special actions are limited to only what your GM can allow and what you come up with along with its special rules and modifications off the basic action formatting.

Most modified actions will likely just be a bit more specialized action that offers bonuses unless you wish to get FREAKY!

Like say what I just provided as an example or my earlier works. Obviously however when you are coming up with stuff you have to figure out how it will work and what can serve as triggers.

So while I keep a very basic simple formatting that is open my hidden stuff is for the freakier shit that is largely hidden.

For post apoc?

The rule of thumb is literally this:

Gritty and Awesome.

Gritty due to apocalypse affect and Awesome because of what was before.

Beyond that though...it gets complicated. As there is a ton of stuff I have to keep track of and figure out the effects of. This can be quite the bitch.

For instance a problem I was having culturally explanation wise.

>Previously men died in mass in war against monsters, each other, aliens, outsiders, and other stuff
>Natually sex rates were rather skewed(much more women survived then men)
What are the effects of this?

And another piece of the puzzle I have to figure out.

>Cloning Tech takes shape and is mass produceable
>Mods arrive allowing previously untapped(female manpower) become actually useful for war capacity and not just last stand homefronts
>Results in MASSIVE shift for human war capacity

What is the result of this?

That is the sorta shit I regularly have to determine to create such a vibrant and varied world.

This by the way was Pre Apoc.

Post Apoc I stuck with the following knowledge.

Aliens are real
Outsiders are real
Monsters are real
Supers are real
Adventurers are real
megacorps are a thing
Human is not big dog in grand scheme of things
Fuck ton of shit went horroribly wrong leading to failure of human specimens in mass
Event was so catastrophic much of human space had to be blockaded/quarantined.

How does this all interact?

How about if supers were also real?

What about there being many gods?

Shit is complicated as fuck but its for this precise reason why its so goddamn amazing.

because i literally sit down and track this stuff seeing how it will ALL interact.

Now after I figure out and include all this AWESOME shit right?

I ain't even half way done yet because NOW I have to figure out.

>What if everything went wrong in such a capacity that it fucked shit up so fucking hard a apoclypse event went down that did all of that?

>What would it take for the above to happen?

This led to the Fall.

So imagine if you will I am having to piece this ABSURDLY large puzzle together and I got stuff done right?

NOPE!

NOW I have to figure out what the inhabitents are up to!

>THEN

I have to figure out how this interacts with the world around them and not only each other. What are the effects of this?

>FINALLY

I have to double check all this shit and redo crap as the changes occur.

This creates the 'magical' feeling and existence that makes my setting FEEL so alive.

Why does it feel this way to you?

The answer is simple

Because
>It IS alive

For how else can it truly feel that way without being so?

THAT is one of my greatest gripes among writers and storytellers.

They hardly EVER treat their world as if it actually existed(to them its merely a plot device)! They don't treat their people as if they are actually ALIVE that they don't have their own LIVES!

They tend to not even treat their own major CHARACTERS that way?

God help those poor souls whom aren't the focus of the story...

Me however I DO.

To me its not JUST a world meant for a simple story!

To me the characters(even the non major ones) are mean't for just plot purposes!

To me the story is actually about LIFE itself in not only another 'world' oh no but in another EXISTENCE entirely!

We writers, storytellers, and other forms of entertainers forget this simple fact! TO them its all about the STORY!

The idiots FORGET that the story is ACTUALLY the side effect!

You create a REAL world in its OWN existence then you populate it with LIVING beings!

Yet stories and 'plots' result.

Yet WHY does no one see it?
>>
Rolled 8 (1d100)

>>38900039
There are precious few who are able to...and look what they were able to make.

Yet I do not stop there!

you know what i do next?

I had 'chance' into the mix.

I make so 'luck' has a say.

aka I 'roll the dice'.

So after(and during) I do all the above I don't just write the story!

Because while I may be in charge of 'fate' I am not however in charge of luck.

The dice are and luck just as it does in real life can have a very large say.

----
So then you have anons ask 'offer me setting'.

And the simple answer is I literally cannot.

For its not 'just' a setting.

A setting is a mere plot device for a carefully created sculpted story.

And you ever noticed that while those stories CAN be entertaining...that they never DO feel a alive right?

So obviously I cannot for the reason is simple what they want is not a setting but rather an entire existence with its own world and people.

A setting alone cannot achieve this so what they obviously want isn't that.

Instead what they actually meant was the records, histories, and the relations of it ALL!

Which I again cannot offer. Simply because there is just too much of it...and its constantly changing.

Nay not changing its evolving.

As i work on it and discover new sources of info to include. I am breathing yet more life into it.

So there you go.

That is why I cannot offer what it is you seek but instead I have told you how to achieve it if you so desire.

As you can see I am really not kidding when i state that i am autism in regards to this sort of thing.

Unnamed Male Protag.

You had a very bad day all things considered first you couldn't find out much from anyone.

On the plus side it turned out the megacorps were even more divided then the Combine(which was quite lucky considering they also happened to be the largest group). Republic meanwhile gives off a solid front...and the Combine as usual hate each other less then they hate the Republic.

Then there was the first year event which was very boring but strangely fun as you were shown around the school and basically told to do whatever(if you were rich) or work hard(if you weren't).

For the rich this means building alliances that can be used later in life and so you tried...sorta.

Truth be told it turns out you aren't very good with making small chat which is expected. Your silent nature betrayed you...if only actions were more 'appreciated' in this theatre instead of mere words.

Gonna need to work on that...ah well not like you don't have a few years still also there are the few other human combine affiliates(are minority of Combine faction unsurprisingly) are currently your only friends while arguably your allied with the other Combine factions as well...supposedly.

So what do you expect in this school besides the usual cliques and absurdly expensive classes/events?

Learn here what we'll need to do as a Combine commander.

Organized Chaos.

An ephemeral actor working behind the scenes, watching, observing, and acting when its profitable (we are after all, a profiteer).

Polarizing friends and enemies, manipulating groups against each other, slowly creating a madness and yet with a method in it.

And when the iron is hot, we strike.

We will use the Chaos to unite the Combine, bring as many allies to them as we can, as well as raise as many enemies of the Republic as we can, culminating in a domination of the Combine over the Republic.

Some people say Chaos is a pit that swallows everyone whole, but it's not. Chaos is a ladder

So what are the affects of this?

The answer for the top one is amusingly enough this.

According to studies where there are excess males over females for humans. Human males will exhibit increased aggression and less tendency towards pinning down a single mate(which is much more common when the opposite happens).

This means the human males in such a place not ONLY are they surrounded by war but they are increasing AGGRESSIVE even at home!

What this results in an extremely war waging human populace! Which just so happens to be great considering what they are dealing with.

Now what about the males whom are not exactly 'fit' for war! Contrary to popular belief they would actually be better of dying on the battlefield(a most merciful fate) compared to what may await them...also that these males are experiencing a different type of pressure compared to males who are war capable.

Now for women.

With such heavy regular losses of males in the society they themselves often have to actively defend the homefront and have a VERY hard time pinning down a male mate(who survives) to help with offspring.

So your dealing with an explosion of single mothers...but here is where things get interesting and divulge entirely from what you would expect.

These single mothers may not entirely be single(if their impressive enough to pin down a war happy male who SURVIVES). Otherwise their children are not entirely left without a Daddy as in that case the women instead are likely to rely upon male members of her family OR male friends of whom may have been friends with her mate(who may be deceased and her a widow).

So you have males dropping like flies and female levies now what about the males who are considered 'unfit'.

These guys are a 'special' target for enterprising females who are unable to acquire or avoid the hyper aggressive war males.

What this means is that hilariously enough you see two means of selective pressures actively occurring on both men AND women.
>>
>>38901686
Is getting their attention at this point wise? What do we have to offer them to not hate us, let alone like us. We might do good first getting something to offer them, or at least have the allies to back us up.

of course, we can always just observe them quietly, which is perfectly fine too
>>
Rolled 66 (1d100)

>>38901715

So now you have women who are REQUIRED to both serve as homeland defenders(men are often too wiped out and expected to serve on longer/farther operations).

Yet at the SAME time they are also expected to deal in other responsibilities that would normally be males doing it.

Now this is when things get real complicated...the end result of this means the following.

1 both sexes are receiving different selective pressures that would normally not exist in our world.

2 these selective pressures may at times be opposing/opposite.

I have yet to properly figure out what the hell this is gonna mean because i have jack shit for real world examples to work off of.

As both sexes are suffering different and at times opposing pressures that one wouldn't normally find in our world.

Puts me in a tight spot...so my work continues.

>>38899757
now for the other.

Cloning tech takes shape...e consquences are devasting.

Men are NO longer needed to die on the battlefield in mass as clones are able to be deployed. While they DO need samples....they don't need nearly so much 'born' manpower.

Just enough to discover 'new' samples.

Mods arrive that greatly facilitate the ease for allowing female soldiers. This means initial limiting factors have been dealt with.

This leads to a MASSIVE increase in human war capacity the like of which has never before been seen.

Not ONLY are they able to unleash more soldiers then ever before they are ABLE to do so WITHOUT exhausting their male populace.

Combine this with removing the limiting factors of female soldiery of previous female levies...it makes a fuck huge difference.

You think gods or the industrial revolution changed war?

So while i am able to figure out these obvious factors...for the nuances I have to figure out the previous one first and then figure it out from there.

This is just a typical exercise though I will admit the different pressures are a nightmare to work out.
>>
Rolled 6 (1d100)

>>38901870
In general though such a thing would make it so that men...are actually AVAILABLE!

Think about how many would be constantly killed off?

Holy shit now there is ACTUALLY enough dick to go around!

Combine this with the tech and mods allowing the deployment of proper female soldiers who were previously rather handicapped...

Shit gets even MORE interesting/weird then the previous selective pressures that would of existed before such effects became widely available.

One of my biggest problems is figuring out the effects of these peculiar pressures that you wouldn't normally see in this world.

Normally when say when females become more active in the workforce they produce less children...but at the same time this would be a death sentence.

because you fucking NEED bodies considering all the shit that wants to kill you(and only that if your lucky).

So right there is an example of one of my dilemmas(the spartan one to be exact...but that isn't entirely true either thanks to lack of slaves).

So its like fuck does this shit get complicated...

This is the sorta thing I am expected to work out in the background preferably without the players EVER realizing it...it also can at times get rather magical realm at times.

Then I remember the shit involving Fae, monsters, and outsiders among other things.
>>
Rolled 59 (1d100)

>>
>>38902026
>Normally when say when females become more active in the workforce they produce less children...but at the same time this would be a death sentence.
I remember that dilema from the first civ. We managed a work around by having scheduled pregnancies and providing jobs that women in waiting could perform.

Whenever we play a civ, we usually aim to have some pleasure palace, brood mother, or state sponsored family program because shit we need people too.

That and bigger civs are better than smaller ones.

>>38902063
*How much do other civs focus on pop growth? Especially Post Apoc ones.
>>
Rolled 13 (1d100)

>>38902063
Yet here I am expected to map it all out and figure out the results that I can then use to see how it affects the people and hence the resulting stories/plot.

world building shit gets complicated fucking fast.

So for instance with so many males being killed offed off while this makes it easy for them to get laid...females are under a very different pressure.

Not only aren't there enough men to get everything protected there also aren't enough to do all the work required.

You combine this with the need/want of human females to acquire a mate to help raise offspring...which is rather unlikely as there literally aren't enough men to go around.

and that ain't even considering widows or undesirables.

Now consider that the remaining(surviving) males are gonna be much more aggressive and less prone to being pinned down by a female long term.

This puts women in a rather tight spot...most make do by relying upon friends and family to help with offspring. Now what about those who DON'T just want to make do?

Well now they break up into TWO separate camps.

The ones who are willing to wrangle a hyper aggressive war male. BUT can they manage it?

Then those males are were deemed 'unfit' for war duties are...at the same time while they are more available any resulting offspring may not be as fit...and they ALSO wouldn't want to be pinned down.

>>38902153
Yeah but it gets even MORE complicated anon...

For you see we are forgetting about the following.

1 equalizers. Females can have magic and learn special skills...

2 Monsters/outsiders may be parasitic in nature requiring assistance for breeding purposes.

So NOW they have to fight nonhumans for mates as well!

OR a human female could very well wield the power required to enjoy a stable union!

IT GETS SO COMPLICATED ANONS...you have all these differing and possibly opposing pressures going on.

Besides the weird fuckery for outsiders...

Monsters?

They have three major objectives in regards to humans.

These are if the humans are adult

1 kill
2 eat
3 rape
4 Other

If they're too young however there is SOME changes those being

1 kill
2 eat
3 kidnap
4 Other

This objectives OFTEN overlap with Fae among other outsiders!

Oh no!

Finally what about human infighting!

So NOW not there is yet MORE to worry about ESPECIALLY on the homefront!

You got fuckers who wanna STEAL your goddamn mates and kids!

So yet MORE interesting pressures are added into the goddamn mix!

So what pray tell is the result?
>>
>>38902305
>>38902305
>They need bodies but they also need to support said bodies...
Which isn't that hard for a lot of them.

Zombies never starve, they just need to eat and convert more. Same for the Ghouls.

All the brood we met too seemed to have an abundance of food and supplies to support enourmous broods and flesh giant titans like the King of the Jungle.

And monsters explicitly break the square cube law, with many of them having internal organs which are superior to fast breeder nuclear reactors.

I gather it's mostly the humans and mutants who get the short end and the most complicated part. Bandits and Mauraders were always on the look out for fuel, food, and supplies.
>>
Rolled 82 (1d100)

>>38902431
The end result is THIS!

Human females are broken into two seperate camps.

Which are roughly the following

1 Deal with the few surviving war males.

2 hm...wait a second aren't there those OTHERS ones? However for option 2 due to possible...lack of quality the women would expect to pick up even MOAR slack...kicker is though they have already been doing that haven't they?

So NOW you have to deal with humanity is now under TWO major camps for breeding pressures!

IT fucking KILLS my head...because at first while one is minor...but given time, pressures, and rewards the differences between the two will not only enlarge but they will become more distinct!

mutations world occur and some would given in to certain pressures!

I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE...what the end result of this would be.

No matter how i looked at it eventually there WILL be those two camps...first it may be minor you know a small thing...eventually though.

So yeah. Shit is weird...because the pressures would eventually result in 'human' specimens that wouldn't 'entirely' be humans that would be familiar with...also that they would possibly diverge given enough time.
>>
Rolled 15 (1d100)

>>38902622
Meaning I have come to the following conclusions. technically assuming that our modern human is dropped in this universe...they would eventually give into the pressures. Breaking into those two camps...

Yes it will be small at first....OR if humans EVOLVED here?

There would actually be TWO different homo sapien species or possibly even sub species.

This shit FREAKS ME OUT.

In this scenario I then have to ask myself this.

First
>Did humans 'evolve' here naturally or did they come from outside?

Then
>did they succumb to the pressure sooner or later given a certain time frame?

Finally
>how long ago for either one?

...you see what this sorta shit puts me through anons?

This is a good point.

In the HAX civ there was some mention of different human empires, as well as there being an Earth and a Fall planet.

We asked if all humans evolved and originated on the same planet, but that was proven to be untrue.

How could it be that different humans evolved independant of each other on different planets? As well as reach the relative evolutionary stage and intelligence and development space flight around (relatively) the same time?

Was it intentional? did someone seed humanity on different planets and manipulate them to reach the space faring age around the same time?

Or are humans somehow. . .just destined to evolve?

So there was an origin planet, but somehow humans were transferred from them to others.

But then, how much time would have passed since then? How much would each human on each planet have changed?

On earth, it's often hypothesized skin color developed as people lived in different climates with different exposure to light. Dark skinned people in hot and sunny region, light skinned people in the cool and cold.

How much more would these humans diverge from each other on different planets as time passed? With gods knows what sort of strange things like background radiation or magic and the likes. To the point where they might be visually distinct from each other.

You decide to meet up with your fellow human combine members...of whom there are very few. At most a handful of them.

There really aren't all that many of you and they are roughly split between those who make dealings within Combine space and the precious few human factions within it.

From what you can tell they all appeared to be interested in profit even if things might be a little strained between them. Mannerisms...a few in the more advanced years appear to be quite comfortable and have an overall feel of the place.

The newer ones aren't entirely comfortable with how things are. Probably due to all the absurd lavishness of everything make is so highly different species can easily get along between the space. Also the deep discomfort of there being actual outsiders and monsters allowed within.

Not fun seeing something that would be more then happy to rape or kill you be so near. Like...they are purposely sticking prey and predators together. Luckily humans are a bit better with teamwork so they tended to stick close and kept to the veterans who are more used to how things work here.

Besides that though...the humans here are hard to read and unlike the Republic humans don't bother much with faking shit. Waste of effort and a common ideal among combine.

Why bother faking when you can just deal with? So instead you can hear them make plots and studying...that was when you noticed something interesting going on.

That is...they were using themselves as intermediates among different factions and making deals. As in they were representing certain interests...except towards the Republic.

Instead they plotted to see how they could fuck them over as much as possible. In that regard they seemed to be well practiced and experienced in. On the other, we're already on the weaker end. We won't have much protection in that regards, however, if we combine our wits and craft we might be able to weedle our way past that

>Aliza
If supposing we manage to get along with her to the point that we can trail her, and that we have the ability to keep up, her ability to vanish and dissapear would be highly useful, especially in regards to bailing from fights we can't win (and calling in support). Unless she has some ulterior motive, I suspect she does work for Corm

>Corm
Chief among us, and the real power here with something else hidden. I suppose we might offer ourselves and our wealth as an asset, but how many other loyal and/or rich people does he have?

Why do I have the feeling him and James might not see eye to eye either. Whatever we do, we should be wary of him.

>James
The wildcard. A kin of ours in regards to fantabulous wealth it seems, although much more chatty. That doesn't mean he's up to something, if anything he might have an ulterior motive as well.

That or he's just here to blow money and crash his grades. But the fact that he's dealing with the Republic leads me to believe he's up to something. The question is in who's favor is it? Clearly his own.

I vote we work with Jayahine, and then immediately look for somewhere else we can find relative saftey.

It would be best to capitalize on a competent student and ensure we're keeping our grades up. With that out of the way, we can focus our efforts on other matters (such as the other candidates)

You decide to actually bother listening to James...who appears to be trying to talk with Aliza and Crom.

Not entirely sure if they are paying attention though(you wouldn't blame them if they weren't).

"Look see Crom the Republic is busy sucking up to the megacorps aye? BECAUSE the megacorps have the Republic bought out! THey are just ACTING as if they aren't."

Oh dear lord a conspiracy theorist.

"You see though because the Megacorps can't stand each other it just doesn't look like it! So that means the Republic has to bow down to the Council of not their own company but of the Corporate scene!"

"Hah...just shut up already Jayazine," butts in.

"You kidding! Here we are plotting against the Republic when we SHOULD be plotting against the megas, because its ACTUALLY them behind it not the republic personally? See we are just the big bad boogeyman to the Republic preventing their populace from realizing the truth. Meanwhile the megas are laughing their asses off at the both of us."

"So James does this mean you went to the republic?"

"Of course I did but they never listen."

"I wonder why," bitterly states Jayahine

"You do realize you don't have to be here."

"So James how is their ranks?"

"They appear united but aren't actually a lot of backstabbing goes on among them at least the Combine is honest...just as the Megas planned!"

"You do realize you are also rich and poweful like the Megacorps you harp against so much? Plus just WHY are you here in the first place considering its a corporate school anyway," asks Aliza.

"Because what better place to figure out how they got their roots in then here hm? A place where the Corps just so HAPPEN to invite others to their school? For Indoctrination thats what."

"...James."

"Yes Crom?"

"You do realize that their indoctrination is done before they even arrive here? Not to mention the megas hate each other and the only reason the corp council exists is to protect their bottom line."

Ahem that was Jayazine butting in. I messed up...

------
"So while they COULD be a threat this would require two things that are entirely impossible for the corps as they are now. Number 1 they would need to put aside their differences and number 2 they would have to get above their love of profit."

"This will never happen. So while the Megas are capable of buying out the Republic forces they can NEVER do so as a whole and they tend to get in each others way. So your here because let me guess you think the Combine wont be bought out and your safe right?"

"Wrong dumbass. While megacorp power is limited in Combine space that is why they try to make deals with their no our members. Why do you think we are here hm? Because we are young reps of the Combine who either 1 possess great power or 2 have connection to it. Problem is thanks to the limitations put on the Combine due to the pact and charter they have to work around unlike go directly for with the Republic."

"...That is why you don't trust the coalition members because THEY are in it too!"

"Then what about the communistic members of the coalition" dead panned Jayahine.

"Well....um...its becuase they are not TRUE communists no? They just replace the bourgoise nothing more."

"....Goddamn it James," moaned Crom. "You are AWARE those some of those species are legit hiveminds right?"

"Yeah?"

"Shut up."

"Hm...going according to plan so far."

"Not really."

"How so?"

"Republic is screwing with our deals too."

"Well for the Third Tier and the indepedents what about them?"

"They are mostly been bought out already right? Besides most of them don't like us until they may have need."

"As per usual but this time a little birdie told me we have some clanners this time around..."

"Clans? I thought they didn't get along so well with the Corps?"

"Yeah supposedly that is how it is but its actually they just have a weird relationship apparently some of the richer clans got some people in while the corps offered some slots for others."

"Troublesome...anyway to know how their leaning?"

"Besides towards their own? Toward the Corps."

"Hm...how about the independents any luck there?"

"Nope. Combine bad rep is doing its usual thing."

"So then any luck forging deals?"

"Bah that shit takes forever and a half not to mention its prone to breaking."

"Oh just up about that Crom. He is just another James...except without the constant chatter," gently nags Aliza who just appeared again.

"Either way he isn't much good except for cash and we already have enough of that."

"He might have skills," mentions Aliza.

"uhuh someone like him from that kind of family? Thats like expecting James to have a so called skill besides talking," claims Jayahine.

"...She does have a point," admits James. "I mean we aren't really all that great besides money and I am not even very good at making it. Why do you think my family sent me here?"

"..." everyone was silent before Crom finally spoke up "I always wondered why you were actually sent here now that mystery is finally solved."

With that everyone besides you agrees.

"Look kid you may want in but that doesn't mean we will let you. This place is meant for the ultra rich to acquire actual skills that they wouldn't normally need...and to build connections. We tend to do other stuff that isn't within the admitted mission of the school."

"Yeah, we get that we don't have much to offer you yet that you don't already have.

But if there's one thing about being from a family of wealth, I'm sure James will agree, when you invest in something you expect to get something back. James spends money on connections and gifts, in the hopes that they come back and pay off.

Let me be frank, I'm asking for a favor. Protection, mostly, as you seem to be a rather tight nit group and good at thus, you protect James well enough.

Age 13
World Poci
War Level acknowledged Blood Bath

World suffered two orbital bombardments along with wreckage of both ship, space stations, and debris raining down.

First Orbital Bombardment done by Republic Fleet.

Second Bombardment done by Combine Fleet.

Targets were identified to be valuable so after initial bombardments came the invaders.

First were the Republic.

Second came the Combine.

Meanwhile humans were infighting as well.

In a certain wrecked ruins and a former city there were children gangs many of whom orphans who fought for survival.

Reason for invasion: Acquisition.

Later Proved to be failure once Clan forces arrived and successfully beat off the both invaders along with stabilizing ruins.

The reason for clan interference was simple. The remaining survivors have proved themselves valuable for clan purposes and those two weak or cowardly had already been dealt with.

In other words high quality and desperate human stocks.

On this world a young girl was dragged into a certain 'game'. In this game you had to kill to survive and many were slaughtered.

She thought it was game or nightmare at first.

It wasn't.

In this game an infamous individual known simply Udeakoi aka 'Same Smiles' was sweeping through slaughtering all in his path.

Special Specs for Udeakot

>No Run
>No Escape
>SECRET(has been transferred over to REDACTED)

The date before the blockade was broken.

Girl was five years old and found herself in a a gruesome so called game. Udeakoi was an unusual player who was known to have no SPECIAL and seemingly would not run away...or forwards ever.

At best it was a quick sprint or temporary retreat. However Udeakoi was infamous for this and despite being weak always coming out on top.

Also for being a ruthless badass. Despite having handicaps he was able to successfully play 'the game' and win.

On this gameday during a routine newbie slaughterfest Udeakoi ran into a girl among a pile of carnage.

Before this Udeakoi has never been known to spare anyone...except for one time where he simply...walked away.

This time Udeakoi did not even did that and even more broke a rule. As punishment new players were added were added and Udeakoi suffered penalties along with a new purpose.

On that day Udeakoi refused to kill a newb and not only that protected said noob who at the time was a very young girl who got caught up in the game.

Previously Udeakoi only survived due to his weakness was by being a clever and beyond ruthless

Had to compensate.

Despite the penalties and difficulties.

Udeakoi successfully managed to protect the kid for 5 years.

This was both during the game(before it ended once the blockade ended) and after during the invasion among the infighting. Udeakoi held out for five years.

Once Game End happened Udeakoi found himself teaming up with the fellow player whom he spared and performed a last stand.

He handed off kid to the player and that was the last Udeakoi was ever seen.

----
SPECIAL ENGAGED

You are Udeakoi your mission is a simple one.

To hold out for as long as possible to allow your charge a kid to escape.

However everything is being thrown at you to stop you.

Even now air support is coming from above, swarms are trecking over the game floor, surviving players are after your head, the system is deploying its defenses, and the floor is rumbling meaning underground attack as well.

Your only advantage is your current position which is before a corridor(which you must protect at all costs), a few surviving comrades, your game boons, and....your special quirk known simply as All Power Minor.

SImply put you are rather fucked and considering the door closed behind blocking the corridor also trapped.

So you simply smiled one last smile thinking about all the other last stands you were in...and made sure to put on your mask that also bears a smile.

For today was going to be a good day. Especially now that you have no kid holding you back and its....been an awful long time since you went all out.

------

Meanwhile upon escaping the 'gamezone' fresh sky and air was nice...except for one terrible fact.

The Republic has broken through the Blockade and raining debris along with bombardments were both falling from the sky.
>>
Rolled 15 (1d100)

>>38923626
That one last game that one last stand however did not kill Udeakoi. For later he saved both kid, bro, and other children later that day during infighting.

As once they came above they found strength in number also bro was way too nice, good, and kind. This would prove both his salvation and doom.

That doom however was not that day for Udeakoi arrived just as Kid said despite no one else believing it.

When asked how the hell did Udeakoi survived he simply replied.

"Your last does not mean your final."

For years Udeakoi protected kid and on occasion others too. This however was suppose to end on one last journey where Udeakoi fought to escort refugees and children to a Republic Evac zone.

However Udeakoi was not allowed to leave due to previous Crimes listed under his name kid and even bro were able to...and did so.

Except when Udeakoi was leaving Kid hopped off and rejoined him much to his dismay.

Udeakoi was still stuck with kid(who he REFUSED to call by name).

Why Kid chose to stay?

Because Kid did not want Udeakoi to be alone out there. Not that he saw it that way.

So Udeakoi and kid scraped survival for a few more years...until that day.

That day when Kid was 10 years old Udeakoi performed his final stand. The plan was for kid to escape and then late Udeakoi...but it never goes that way.

Later when Kid was wondering why Udeakoi was late and after the other kids had been saved...yet he did not return. Kid went looking.

What kid found among a field of carrion was a dying Udeakoi who for one last time called Kid an idiot for wishing to risk her own life to save others with his final breath.

Kid cried and mentioned for one last time he did the same thing so countless times...and often thanks to her own risking forced Udeakoi to save them all together.

That was when now on her own...her own Quirk activated and she inherited Udeakoi's stuff.

Udeakoi burnt all remaining credit to due Kid was last favor.

Kid knew it was believed it her fault when Udeakoi died but could not change her will...but she kept to a certain code.

Kid on her own and saving/protecting other kids survived for roughly another 3 years this time however without Udeakoi's help.

>Three years later

On that fateful day...Combine forces were sweeping through and Kid was fighting a desperate battle.

Kid fought till the very end and when at the very end Kid spoke some magic words that caused Kid to be saved.

These words were about becoming strong so one could live.

The Combine asked how do you become strong?

She replied it does not matter as only the strong have real rights while the weak do not.

Turned out Girl had unwittingly by pure chance crossed upon Coalition's Conventional Sacrament. This caused those Combine forces who would of killed her to take her in as own of their very own.

There she acquired a certain medal...just as she had earned yet another when she came to this school after the very first day.

That is the short story the longer one would be an actual story of trials, tribulations, slaughter, hunger, and horrors.

Constitutional Convent as its known when declared requires Combine and forces them aid you even take you in no matter the circumstances.

The girl had unwittingly spoke some of those magic words that made it happen. After which she was taken and took care off until one day she ended up at this very school.

She has already earned two special commendations.

One Mark of the Favor and now a medal of Excellence.

"Wait oh shit you were the one chick who did pulled that rampage when they came to gank the noobs in our sleep! I heard you single handidly took down a tons of them before finally going down! You REALLY saved a lot of our asses enabling us to rally."

("Dammit they better not leave her crippled, how am I supposed to win a fight if she's crippled and can't fight.")

I wish we could be more like like Udeakoi, coming back to kick ass after seemingly impossible odds and having everything fall upon us and then fulfillion our goals

and then dying heroically.

>Turned out Girl had unwittingly by pure chance crossed upon Coalition's Conventional Sacrament. This caused those Combine forces who would of killed her to take her in as own of their very own.

But MOST of all, I wish we could be like that girl. Actually saving people's and other children's lives when we set out to do it! Also good characters are hardmode

Strange she ended up in the Combine over the republic though, where they have a thing about letting the weak die. . .
