General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible. There are occasional roles to keep things organic, but mostly it goes by voters choice. Unless specified otherwise, the best of 3 rolls is the result, and rolling high is good.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. Put your own spin on it, suggest dialogue, add an addendum, or anything else. Just because some options specify to write in, doesn't mean that they aren't welcome for anything else. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat currently works just like dialogue and other options. Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, be creative!

“We're going to Lace Point next,” you declare.

Your friends naturally just roll with your decree. It’s good to be the leader sometimes.

Clair folds her arms. “So how are we going to get there? It’s an island.”

Everyone’s eyes fall on you.

Being the leader sucks sometimes.

You even see the camera do a close up. You try to ignore it.

Jeanine steps forward, mercifully taking the spotlight. “They probably have a ferry ride there. We could get tickets, or even rent a ship.” Good old Jeanine. She’s always got your back when you least suspect it.

“We have a lot of water Pokemon,” Vance pipes up. “We could ride them over.”

“That sounds...” Robin searches for the right words.

“Stupidly dangerous,” Clair interjects.

“That’s not what I was going to say...”

Clair rolls her eyes. “Dangerously stupid then. Whatever.”

You should probably say something.

“Let’s grab some ferry tickets,” you say, opting for the public transport option. Who knows what sort of trainers you might meet that way?

You and your friends head deeper into town, by the ports. The camera crew follows, drawing a few eyes. You’d expect more people to be looking, but Robin tells you that Alloycaster is a major broadcasting city. People here probably see filming all the time.

You get there just in time. There’s a ferry leaving in two hours.

“I guess that leaves us with some time,” Vance says.

“Kat,” the director yells over. “Before the end of the day today, we’d like to do some interviews with you and your friends. Let the audience get to know you better. Think you’ll have time now?” He sounds like he wants to get on your good side, but he doesn't know you well enough to know how. Apparently that's typical Alloycaster showbiz.

You put your bag down and stretch. “Sure, let’s do the interview.”

He smiles. It looks like it’s supposed to be a friendly smile, but to you it seems more like a greedy man counting his gold. You guess you’ll take that as a compliment.

You put your hands on your hips, ready for anything. “So, what do you want to ask?”

Erin and Tim swarm you. Tim takes out a folding chair and pushes it under your legs. Erin starts applying make-up. “It’s for the camera,” she explains. “This will probably be in the promo shots.”

What’s a promo shot?

You glance over to your friends, but Erin pulls your head back. “Chin up,” she instructs. You're rewarded with a face full of powder.

Eventually the assault wanes and you’re left sittings on the tiny chair, legs somehow cross and arms folded over them daintily. How did that happen?

“So, Kat, Tell us about your start Pokemon. While you’re at it, tell us why you began your journey?

“Well, originally I was going to get one of the starters Jeanine has now,” you lean back, getting into a pose that’s more you. “So I went to catch my own. I went searching for a Pokemon and found Devon,” You take your mighty Houndoom out.

The director looks both astonished, and a little skeptical. “You caught that Pokemon without a Pokemon of your own?”

“He likes my flute playing,” you answer, not seeing the big deal. “See, watch.” You play a quick little tune, and Devon jumps to his feet excitedly. He circles around and sits to watch you play. When your done, he covers you with licks, smudging your makeup. “And for the other question, I left to become a trainer because I wanted to get away from my old life. It was either this, or keep souring in the orphanage.”

You’re feeling extra scrutinized as the camera lens rotates, zooming in on your face. You know how to talk to a person, but cameras don’t give you anything to work off of.

“Amazing,” the director adjusts his seating to give you his full attention. “Now, you’ve had quite a lot of battles so far, from what we’re told. What would you say was your most difficult?”

>Well, you did lose that one time. You guess that’s the hardest by default

“The time I lost probably counts, by definition,” you chuckle a bit, trying not to let your nerves get to you.

He looks extremely skeptical now, but he doesn’t let it come out in his voice. “You’ve lost once.” It’s both a statement and a question.

You nod. “That last one was pretty tough, but we pulled through thanks to Robin. If I had to choose one battle though, I’d go with the one I had against Clair. She was the hardest. I had to push not only Devon, but myself beyond anything I ever thought possible. It was worth it though.” You scratch Devon behind the ear. “She’s definitely earned her reputation as a strong gym leader.”

Even though your friends are too far away to hear you, you see Clair blush a little before turning away.

“Fascinating. Now, you and Robin seem like a serious couple. Tell us how you met and a little bit about your relationship.”

Literally tell him what he's asking how you met, and first couple adventures (perhaps up to the point of getting poisoned and rescued by Vance).

There's a perfect phrase for this "A lady doesn't kiss and tell." perhaps followed with "And right now I'm little too sober to just forget the little manners I have."
>>
You remember the very first thing you thought of when you met Robin was what a good mark she was. How vulnerable she was when she was deciding between what her dad wanted, and what her Eevee wanted. How she cried in your arms. How you mercilessly flirted with her, lied to her, confessed how you felt and ran away. A lot of emotions start to swell up.

“Its...complicated.”

He raises an eyebrow, looking for more.

“I think we found each other at the right time. I love Robin, but she’s also my rival.” You get yourself a little more composed, and put on a cheeky smile. “That’s all I’m going to say about it for now. I’m not too shy about it, but I don’t want to embarrass her. Besides, a lady doesn’t kiss and tell.” You playfully wag your finger.

Mr. Kroustou looks genuinely impressed and human for a second. Then he takes out a small cue card. “Alright. I’m sure our viewers will be dying to find out more, but they’ll just have to keep tuning in to learn the whole story. One last question for today, Kat; how do you keep your Pokemon in tip top shape?”

He holds up a card. You squint to read it: I feed them only premium Devon Corp brand Trainer’s Choice poffins.

>Screw that. Say you have creative and intense training sessions. Your Pokemon work really hard and deserve recognition, damnit!

You’re offended! You’re not some shill. “My Pokemon give it their all in training. They’ve earned everything they have through hard work and dedication.”

You sit up and take a breath. You’re about to really lay into them when suddenly you catch Robin’s reflection in a mirror that Meowth is holding up for lighting.

You sigh. “But I know they’ll get even stronger with Devon Corp poffins. I want to feed them the best because they deserve it.” You hold a plastic smile., feeling cheap.

The director takes what you’ve given him with a nod, then turns to his crew. “Alright, let’s interview the others.”

You sigh again and walk out of the camera’s view while they invite Robin over. You mouth her instructions to go get ‘em and she smiles. You’re sure she’ll be fine. Even if she’s nervous, she’s so cute it doesn’t matter.

There’s a Pokemon center down the street. You still have time to swap for your journey.

The area you’re in isn’t all that open, so training would be difficult. You might be able to do some limited training though. Then again, it’s been awhile since you’ve studied. It would be pretty bad if you faced off against a Pokemon you didn’t recognize, saw a move you didn’t know, or something like that.

You scrub the taste of shill out of your mouth as you walk away.

Well, nothing you can do about it now. You take the time to study. It’s been awhile, and last time you were frantically looking for anything to help with Robin’s eye.

You take out yours and Robin’s Pokedex. She doesn’t mind if you use it.

You flip through a few subjects. Let’s see. There’s Trunk’s special move. You guess it’s closer to Protect than Reflect. As far as you can tell, its entirely new. That gives it a huge advantage. It’s not unheard of for new moves to come about, but it’s also not a very common thing either. You can probably name it whatever you want. You look over other moves now. Not to compare, but just general knowledge.

Next is Pokemon and types. You memorize a few more Pokemon you’ve never seen before, and learn all their types and as much about their general habits, fighting styles, and other info that you can For the most part, you concentrate on Water types. Huh, lot of good stuff for dealing with Leviathan in here.

You spend some time on Meloetta’s entry too. Apparently she really likes artistic expression, especially music. She’s been known to be spotted at concerts and recording studios, and thrash anyone foolish enough to try to catch her.

Just as the last of the interviews are wrapping up, the ferry comes into port. Since there’s a lack of tickets sold, you’re given a lot of freedom to pick your rooms.

Jeanine is less than subtle about sharing a room with Vance. He smiles sheepishly as he’s briefly kidnapped.

You lead Robin into the room you’re planning to share and unpack a few things for tonight. You consider inviting Clair too, but that’s probably not that easy to arrange on a cramped ship. Plus you figure you should have some alone time with Robin.

“These rooms are a lot more soundproof then a tent,” you say as you unpack a particularly lewd item.

“K-Kat!” Robin turns crimson. “y-y-you’re always doing that! W-why can’t we ever just cuddle? I’m not just your s-s-sex toy, you know!”

You freeze, taken totally by surprise. You had no idea she felt that way. “Robin...”

“J-Just kidding! You’re mine!” Robin winks and pecks you on the cheek. “We can cuddle after.” She says quietly in a low voice as if she’s handling a naughty secret. She gives your butt a playful pinch and leaves the room.

So that happened. You’ve created a monster.

Robin pops her head back in. “I-I didn’t mean that. I mean, you’re not just a t-t-toy.”

Okay, not that much of a monster. “It’s okay Robin, I get it.”

She looks relieved that you didn’t take offense, then heads back out. You follow her back onto the deck where there’s a very small crowd gathering. Even the camera crew is out here. You peak over to see what the fuss is about.

Oh! Those are Lapras in the distance! A whole herd of them in the water, swimming in the same direction as the ship, towards Lace Point.

Laprases?

Laprasi?

Whatever the term, there’s a lot of them. But something else catches your eye. There’s a couple small boats waiting for them in the distance. You just read they were endangered and it wasn’t legal to catch them in this region though. So what are they doing?

“Lace Point is a semi-independent constitutional monarchy,” Clair says, assuming that’s enough for you to put together the rest.

“Uhh,” you eloquently inquire.

She sighs. “The region’s ban on catching Lapras ends as soon as we get a few more miles out to sea, near Lace Point. Lapras cross this area seasonally.”

Vance’s hand digs into the railing. “So that means those people are just waiting for those Pokemon to cross the waters to catch them?”

“It’s a sticky political issue,” Robin says. “I read they see it as the mainland trying to impose their laws on the island, so they catch them to prove their independence. Lapras is even on the royal family's crest.”

This like a complicated political issue. Not really your strong suit.

“It’ll be dark right away,” Jeanine offers. “I bet most of them will be able to sneak past the poachers.”

You tap on Dave’s shoulder. The large, bearded man turns to you, surprised.

“You have to get that on film!” You point to the poacher’s boats. “They’re skirting the ban on catching Lapras.”

“Uhh, boss?” He turns to the director. “I can probably get some good shots with the zoom lense.”

Mr. Kroustou gives him a nod. “If nothing else, it can make good stock footage.”

Dave focuses in on the boats.

“When we get to land, I’m going to talk to somebody,” you announce. “We can’t just do nothing.”

Robin and Vance agree. Jeanine is on the fence, wanting to know more about the issue. Clair is jaded and doesn’t see a point. You watch as night falls and the horizon is occasionally lit up by the light of exploding Pokeballs.

It’s getting pretty late.

“Clair, I need you,” you grab her by the arm and start walking down the deck.”

“Kat!” She’s an uncommon shade of red, not unlike Robin’s usual one. “There’s a little thing called subtlety! Just because we had that night doesn’t mean I’ll drop everything every single time your motor is running!” She keeps following, but turns her blushing head away. “I mean, I’ll still go if you want to so badly, but-”

“I need your help talking to the director,” you clarify.

“...and this is why I’m always looking inside people’s heads.”

You tap the director on the shoulder as he stares off into the night. “Mr. Kroustou? Do you have a minute? I want to talk about the advertising.”

He zones back in. “I get it, you feel cheap, right? Well, sorry to say kid, but it’s what pays our bills. Crews and airtime aren’t free.” He sighs. “If they were, believe me I’d be working on something else.” He lights a cigarette. “No offense. You’re pretty good, Kat. I wouldn’t mind working with you on something else even, but I just had different ideas about where I'd be in this business by now.”

“I don’t like how you ambushed me like that,” you start. “We need to be able to trust each other if this is going to work.”

He looks a little sheepish, especially with Clair giving him her patented scowl. “Look, you’re right. I didn’t think you’d do it otherwise, at least not to start with. I just wanted it to be a little bit natural.”

“But it didn’t sound natural at all. It always sounds forced when someone does that sort of line, right?”

He nods, waiting to see where you’re going with this.

“So let’s not do it. Let’s just show the stuff in action. Tomorrow morning we can just show my Pokemon eating the poffins. If they get hurt, I’ll use one of the Devon Corp potions. If we’re in a cave, I’ll use the Escape Rope and even hum the jingle. Anything that isn’t just reading a cue card. Just let us act naturally.”

He looks to you, and then to Clair who is staring him down. “You win. We’ll try it your way for now. But if it doesn’t work out, we’re doing it my way, understood?”

“He’s telling the truth,” Clair announces. “No more tricks.”

“Great,” you pat the scared man on the back. “Glad we have that settled.”

The director excuses himself and heads off to bed.

“So, what are you going to do now?”

“Why, is your ‘motor running’?” You give Clair a wink before dodging a sloppy fist from her. “I was thinking I’d hit up the casino before bed. It might make for good TV. I’m pretty sure the camera guy is still up.”

Clair pats you on the back. “I’m out then.” She starts walking away and tapping her head. “Against the ethics that I actually take seriously. Even if I don’t use any powers and still win, nobody will believe me. Try not to lose all your money.”

You head into the casino. You don’t plan on staying too long, but you might as well have a little fun. You see Vance already there, watching some races. He looks like he’s just killing time

“Hey,” you sit beside Vance, ordering a drink. The bartender comes back with some juice.

“Oh, hey Kat.” Vance barely looks up. He just plays with his straw.

He seems a little distracted. “Is everything okay?”

He sighs. “Look, I have a weird problem.” He stirs some ice. “I’m not really good at talking about this stuff. It’s uh, girl trouble.”

You try to give him a playful punch on the arm. “Come on. You can talk to me. What’s up?”

“Jeanine wants to take things to the next level,” he sighs.

“And you don’t?”

Vance stirs his ice some more. “No, I do. A lot. That’s the weird thing. I mean, I was pretty hesitant to go as far as we have so far, but Jeanine...well, Jeanine’s persistent.” He smiles. “She’s really generous. She does this thing where she gets rid of her gag re-” he stops. “Well, the point is, I got over that hurdle, and I’m glad, but I can’t seem to go any further. It’s like I’ve always had a mental block with girls.” He stops stirring and looks at you. “And before you say it, no. I’m not gay. I really like the thought of girls. I just...I don’t know. Have trouble acting on it.”

You think you know exactly what’s going on. Clair once started playing around in his head and really messed that part of him up, not knowing what she was doing. She thought since he was dating Jeanine that he was over it, but it looks like it runs a little deeper.

“I think there’s something wrong with me.”

“It’s just nerves. It happens to everybody. Especially if you don’t have that much experience. And that’s not a judgement or anything.” You reassure your large friend. “I’ve seen what you’re packing. You’ve got nothing to worry about there.”

He laughs shyly. It’s so strange how he can change from an intimidating muscle man to a goofy boy in an instant. You have to admit it’s pretty cute. “Thanks,” he mutters, smiling.

You pat him on the back. “Jeanine’s not going to judge you or give you a hard time.”

You both laugh at the pun.

“Okay, let me try that again. Jeanine’s an understanding person. She won’t care if don’t know all the right moves magically. And if she did, she wouldn’t be worth getting all worked up about.” You give him a nudge. “I’m not saying you should force yourself. I’m just saying that I think you have a safe environment if you think you’re ready.”

Vance considers what you’ve told him. “You’re a good friend Kat. Thanks.” He gets up and leaves. You don’t know if he’s right. Wouldn’t a good friend tell him the truth? Or would that make you a bad friend, betraying Clair’s secret like that?

As soon as he’s gone, you rush to Clair’s room. She throws her book up in the air in shock as you barge in. “What the f-”

You cut her off. “We need to talk about Vance.”
